Pearl lay on her side, scrawny legs sprawled out over the soft woven mattress of wool and cotton. She made barely a dent in the bed with her weight, she was as light as a feather. The filly wished she felt like a feather, instead she felt like a lump of granite crumbling away in bed. Beneath a sheer blanket, was a leather book on the geography of Sedo, her brothers. It was the only companionship offered to her by her brother as her mother whisked him away and ordered her to stay indoors. After the discovery of yesterday, Pearl was worn from all the journeying and adventure that the group she was with undertook to discover this grand...Weapon of sorts. Her breath truly was taken away- But the exhaustion of it all truly did take her breath away and she was left with severe pain traveling through her body and leaving her lungs feel like paper. Each breath that she took would spark a flame of agony in her ribs and the book would not provide her enough distraction to ease her pain.
The lessons with the Talori Sage were cancelled by her mother, leaving Pearl to stay in the room with a view out of the window over the city. She could hear the distant laughter and conversations of the citizens, the hollering of the farmers selling their goods and produce. She wondered what home would be like. Would it be as hot and as dry as it was here? Would the horses of Talori bustle and laugh like the Serorans? She gave a weak smile, exhaling heavily through her nostrils. She could hear the wheezing of her lungs. Pearls frown quickly covered up the smile she had and she moved slowly to bury her head in a silk pillow. Just hide from the world. That'll work, right?

Noatak
A faint yawn escaped his lips as he stretched out, normally he wouldn't have slept so long, but the day before was an odd one at that. From puzzles to some weapon, it was a little much to take in, and so by the time he made it home to his own bed, he was fast asleep before even seeing his papa and dad. Stretching his little wings out and giving them a flutter, he felt better and more awake now. Eyes bright he quickly grabbed his little knapsack and some sweet flowers and a few bits of dried fruit to nibble on later. Without a second to spare he was out of the house trotting along.
He wondered about Pearl and her brother, wanted to knwo more about them, it wasn't everyday he got to meet someone new like that. From another world, even though they were both born int he desert, their heritage goes back to the oceans. Noa wondered about the ocean, what it looked like, if it was hot here as it was there. What was that unknown land like. Noa tried to ask once before, but it seemed not many knew. Biting his lower lip he took a quick turn and went to the place he knew the visitors were staying. He had seen before while traveling with his parents. So he could remember the area well enough.
Though the closer her got, the more his courage was failing him. Maybe this was a bad idea, he should have asked instead of come to bother them all. Nibbling gently on his bottom lip he had half a mind to turn around. He nearly did, but he caught just an inkling of a form at the window. It was pearl he could note her pale complexion a mile away. It wasn't that it was a bad thing. It made her stand out like a wildflower in the sand.
Mustering up whatever he had left of his courage he trotted towards the little housing unit she was in. He paused at the open door before trotting in a bit."Hi...." he nervously spoke out. Oh gods he was probably bothering them. The silence spoke volumes. "Its Noa... I... uhmmm." Okay maybe no one was home. he was making a fool of himself, he should have just went out to see his plants that is it. Why why why did he do such embarrassing things, he thought glumly to himself.

She hadn't noticed the young colt that was making his way over to where she was staying, Pearl's gaze was wandering over the buildings then to the sky. The rich blue of the sky with the slithers of clouds rolling by, reminded her of an ocean. She hadn't seen it yet, but she could dream and imagine. Her eyelids fell shut as the gazing was lulling her to sleep from her boredom.
Her ear twitched.
A faint voice.
Pearl opened her eyes and lifted her head carefully, oh her head throbbed. She shuffled, adjusting her leg to push her weight so she could lay on her side upright.
"It's Noa..."
Her eye's widened and she let out a soft whinny, mustering up a spurt of energy to call out to the colt. What could the Sultan's son want? To see her parents? To deliver a message? Pearl grunted as she shuffled to try and slip over to the edge of the mattress. Would it really be a safe idea to...Leave this softness? For the cool ground that would welcome her to try and walk to the curtain that separated her room from the main room and to risk fainting? Pearl swallowed and shook her head gently, deciding against it. "Hello? Noa?" She had hoped he heard her whinny, her voice was barely above a whisper. Her cheeks burned, some princess. She could hardly breath let alone call out to the Sultan's son, what sort of impression was she leaving? Oh yes, Talori foals are weak and disabled. She clenched her jaw with the growing frustration of her weakened state.

Ears flickered as he tried to take in the sound of everything, but the silence was almost to much. So unbearable, most of the time he enjoyed silence. But it was different when he spoke and then nothing. It made his heart hammer against his chest wanting to break free from the tight cage. Ears flickered back and if he perhaps moved sooner he would have missed the call of someone, but he stood firm a second longer and then he heard a voice. It was soft a faint, and could easily be brushed off as nothing, but for someone who spoke in whispers themselves knew it was not nothing.
Deep breath, he told himself as he trotted forwards and ducked under the curtain that separated rooms and it and nearly flustered up as she spotted Pearl resting within her bed. "Oh.. I .. uhm.." cheeks were ablaze clearly her disrupted her sleeping or resting or something. "I didn't mean to disrupt you." he spoke softly, his head down into a bow. "I was well.. you see.. I...i.." he felt the nerve to stutter but tried to calm his nerves. it was just Pearl it was just pearl, who was the Emperors daughter, who was born of royalty. Oh gods he messed up. "I'm sorry I was walking by and I thought maybe we could well." he offered a quick look to her and felt so terribly embarrassed, he should have practiced what he was would say. "I though maybe we could get to know each other."
There the words were finally out, and he felt a weight lifted from his shoulders, but only for a second until he realized it all. Here was some blubbering fool in front of Pearl. Gods be good they should smite him where he stands and be done with it. Still he stood there awkwardly shuffling his little hoof. Before eyeing his knapsack. A gift! One should always have a gift. "I brought some dried fruits and flowers too." he whispered out offering her one of his bashful smiles.

The sound of hooves trotting over the flooring made Pearl's ears stand up further in the direction of the door. Through the curtain, she could make out the small form of a foal, Noa ducked beneath to reveal himself and entered her room. His face though- It was a warm rogue, she couldn't help but smile softly from her own nerves. "....Hello Noa." Her voice was soft still, her ribs rising and falling gently with every little breath.
"There is no need to apologise, I'm just surprised. I thought you were bringing worrying news for my father." She let out a breath of relief to exaggerate how she was holding her breath as he entered. Pearl chuckled shyly and bit her lip at the mention of getting to know each other more. That was curious, why would he want to get to know her? Perhaps to spy...? She looked away back out the window lost in thought again, trying to make a decision.... She hadn't learned enough yet about her herd- It must be okay to talk to Noa. He was only a foal like her. Pearl looked back to him slowly, making sure not to throw off her balance and offered him another smile- Growing wider into a grin. "I'd love for that Noa, it's been very quiet for me. It's lonely being cooped up inside." Her voice grew disinterested and a slither of sadness tried to sneak its way in. No, she can't keep being miserable- Especially with company now.
There was a silence, it was...Awkward? He was shuffling, the filly was watching every move he made. It was refreshing to watch another horse again. A day was too long to not see someone else. She almost lost his words to the void, she shouldn't have been watching him as closely as she was. Thankfully she herd the last of his words, he was smiling- Pearl glanced away with a tightening in her chest. A gift? "Oh...Y-You didn't have to Noa...Thank you. That's so kind of you." Her own volume mimicking his.

A small hello was what she offered him and he couldn't help but smile shyly all the more, though when she mentioned of him bringing troubling news, he shook his head against it all the more. He didnt want to be mistaken for someone that would carry such news upon his shoulders. He sighed though with relief as she had agreed to enjoy his company, well enjoy as much as anyone could. He glanced around the room a bit, it seemed nice and he wondered how long they all would stay here in Serora. Noa wasn't deaf, he heard others whispers of them going to a foreign a land. A place not many have known.
Though her voice breaking through she seemed to be grateful in his small gifts which made him beam up with a smile. "Mind if I take a seat?" he asked her before trotting over to where she relaxed and was quick to pull out his bag. His nerves calming down a bit, but this silence between them for now was comfortable, or at least it seemed that way for Noa. Searching his his bag, he was able to pull out some dried leaves that he had wrapped the dried fruit in. Unfolding the leaves there laid some dried berries and nuts as well. He smiled brightly. "I helped some planters with these. Pa, says its a good idea to try to figure out what I might like to do. I really like plants though. You can have some if you like." Using his teke he moved the goods closer to her, so that she would not have to move as much as needed.
Noa had heard and even witnessed how tired she can get and he hoped him being around her would not exhaust her. Cheeks flustered as he seemed to talk a little to much of himself, he was told to make friends he too had to ask about them. Not to ramble about himself, but it was easier to do that, then perhaps ask the wrong question. To pry when one should not, speaking with others seemed quite difficult and admired his dads for being able to do it with such ease. "So what about you Pearl. Things you like to do here? See?" he asked gently, his voice as soft as a passing breeze. His blue eyes looked to her awaiting for an answer before he snagged a small berry with his teke and took slow bites enjoying the flavor of it all.

His smile made her warm up, a small burst of energy aiding her in sitting further upright. It was nice to be around company who were not so hyperactive and insistent on exploring every nook and cranny of a cave or of a rock. It was too loud and too much. This was more her pace. At his question, her ears flickered forwards and she nodded- As though she had been ever so rude. "Of course! Please do!" She started moving the pillows besides the mattress that were beautifully patterned with traditional sewing of the Serorans. She arranged them as if they were...A sort of seat- Er... That'd have to do. Pearl sucked on her lower lip as she stared glumly at the pillows poorly arranged.
As he pulled out the goods, she watched with curiosity. The leaves were neatly folded and beneath them were the dried fruit and nuts that...Oh boy, made Pearl's mouth salivate. She'd be lying to herself if she didn't admit to being hungry. Breakfast had felt like forever away and this moment made Noa seem like Alya herself had blessed him unto her with food. She grinned at the colt and raised a brow. "Ooohhh, helped them? It must be fun to do the physical work." She exhaled, her grin remaining. "I don't think I know what I'd like to do yet. The sage mentions how it's important for a filly of my status to be well educated and to be able to return home and perform a role for the good of my herd." She was almost brimming with pride at the mention of her herd. Rycaron had encouraged her to be patriotic and to learn all that she could... Which brought her mind to the subject of disability. She glanced off to the side as she remembered how they weren't...Favorably looked upon back in Talori. She must have done something in a past life...Yet Cascade had blessed her with fins. It was awfully confusing...- Oh! Right! Noa!
She hadn't realised how long she'd been quiet wandering off into her own little world of judgements. "My apologies." Pearl cleared her throat and let her shoulders slide down as she relaxed back against her pillow.
"What do I like to do.... Well," She took a deep breath. "I don't do anything." She offered him a dumbfound smile. It wasn't far off from the truth. "I have my brothers- My twin especially likes to try and drag me places. Dune sliding is probably one of my favourite things to do~" She chirped happily, trying to shuffle a bit closer to Noa like a small child would explaining a great adventure. She grunted and flicked her tail, taking a moment to readjust herself from the pain. "Though the artifact we saw was one of the things I really liked seeing here so far! It was...Magnificent." Pearl nodded knowingly, quickly adding another little smile on at the end of her words. Pearl let silence fall between them, looking down to the fruits and nuts and taking a hold of some nuts in combination with a berry and gracefully put them into her mouth- Much like a princess would.

A bright smile grew on his face as Pearl allowed him to take seat next to her. He couldn't help but smile all the more as he watched her try to arrange the pillows for him. He dipped his head to her as thanks before plopping down the softest he could knowing he shouldn't just flop down as he did at home. Try to up hold some sort of manner, but he nestled into the pillows with a soft sigh. His attention turned back to her as she began to speak of physical work.
"Well I enjoy the plants a lot, not so much all the work, but it was fun to see and learn, and help some." he chuckled sheepishly though turned his head a bit as she mentioned the sage. "A Sage?" he tilted his head bit curiously he never really heard of the word before honestly. "Oh the Sage teaches you a lot then? Kinda like a mentor?" he asked without trying to sound like a complete fool. Like he had when in the room with the puzzles, his cheeks heated at that. He wishes at times he was with his sister instead. He watched as she drifted off in thought a part of him wondering what she was thinking about, but she was quick to apologize and Noa shook his head as if saying no need to say sorry.
Noa almost stared blankly at her as she spoke of doing nothing. He wrinkled his noes in jest as if he was ready to counter that thought, but she spoke of her siblings and that he keyed in on. Ears perked forwards and he couldn't help but smile all the more, it made him miss his own sister all the more. "I have a little sister! I love showing her everything. Im glad you have some siblings here with you." he spoke with truth. Though as she mentioned the relic he felt himself choke up a bit. He wasn't really clever, nor that bright and could feel the distance in a shape or form. He smiled softly and nodded.
"It was pretty neat, who thought we could find something like that?" he chuckled a bit as she shifted a bit getting into a more comfortable spot. He watched her take some food and nibble on it and he was thankful for even thinking of bringing some. A silence started to grow between them and he wasn't sure if it was one that was uncomfortable, but he didnt feel quite nervous in this one. He took in a light breath and spoke once more. "I brought some other things too!" he grinned brightly as he gently used his teke to grab his lathered bag and from inside he brought out another dried leaf bag. "Maybe sometime I can take you and your siblings out to see all these wild flowers, but here I dried a few of them if you wanna see." he unfolded the leaf pouch to show of some of the brightly colored dried flowers. "A few helped me find a way to help sorta persevere their color a bit." he remarked using his teke to place it infront of her so she could look.

The nuts and berries were some of things she was getting used to. They were rather plain- But the sweetness of the dried fruit added an interesting spark to the mix. Whatever this little mix was Noa had, she was rather enjoying it. It was good enough. The cuisine of Serora was interesting, it was rather dull. There wasn't much exotic fruits or food like Pearl had hoped after reading up about Serora, it was a desert after all however. Maybe that was why they had a very lacking cuisine. Pearl raised her brows with a soft giggle. "Yes! Like a mentor, he's an important figure in my herd... Very important," She nodded knowingly, wiggling her tail. "He teaches me and my brother so much and it's scary but great as well! He's very strict with tutoring but he doesn't give up on me." She smiled, taking another deep breath that made her lungs shudder with the deepness. She held her breath for a brief moment, slowly releasing the breath through her teeth.
"I love my brothers! They are wonderful to me and I'm not sure what I could do without them.... Though..." She grumbled, like a little sister would when she'd constantly be outshone by her brothers and they'd do their...Brotherly things. Pearl smirked and gave a very faint shrug. "It's bothersome sometimes. They both always come to my rescue. I'm not a damsel." That was...Debatable. Pearl often got herself into harmless trouble, like how she found herself stranded in the sun one day because she ran out of energy to make it back to the shade and had to cry out to a passerby. She looked dramatic but it was better to embarrass herself than to receive blisters. She glanced to the door then back to Noatak. "I'm curious, I've heard that your sister does not have wings like you but instead, scales?" Pearl wasn't sure whether it was rude to ask or not... It was simply something she had overheard her mother mentioning about the Sultan's children. She grimaced, glancing away again.
"I know...I wish I had contributed more to the solving of the puzzle cube..." She admitted with a little pout. "I was so tired...My skin already felt...Hot and tight." Her ears angled back towards her neck, she was getting upset with how she had little to do with the amazing discovery. Great first step into the world Pearl... You had your chance and you blew that one. Well, hopefully time would bring another opportunity. She had to stay positive. It was difficult but! There's more things to discover!
She had another mouthful of the mix, trying to quickly chew to respond to her...Hopefully newly found friend! "Oh wow! Noatak!" Pearl chirped with delight at the sight of the flowers. Their vibrancy that was still kept, even after being plucked from their roots- Her heart was ready to burst. "They are beautiful! Thank you!" She grinned, taking the one Noa held infront of her face to place it against her hair- Because thats...What you do with flowers, right? She couldn't help it, it was so pretty and the contrast to her plain whiteness made her want to giggle with glee. "Sorry! It's just so...Pretty!" Pearl was brimming with joy. The sight of the nature that she longed for was right here at her hooves thanks to Noa. From beneath her long, pale lashes, she looked back to Noa, focusing on his eyes and offering a bashful smile as she felt the heat sting at her cheeks. "I would truly love and appreciate you showing me and my brother's the wild flowers. Perhaps they might find it boring and...Trample them," Her voice trailed off with hesitance rising in her gentle voice... "But you would still have me to show them too." She tilted her head as she offered him another smile.

He couldn't help but nod along with her as she spoke of her mentor, the sage. He was a bit envious he too wished to find someone to study under to follow along, but still he was much to long for that at the moment. At least that was what his fathers said, he should enjoy being a child, but seeing both of them work so hard made him want too as well. This was his herd of course. But he smiled at Pearl and nodded along all the more glad she found someone that suited her so well. He took another bit of the trail mix and munched on it happily, clearly quite content with listening to her.
As she spoke of her brothers he nodded along agreeing with her, though when she asked of his own sibling, her pondered for a second. He almost looked weary as if not sure he should answer the question or not. He knew the Kirins were becoming more of a welcomed thing at least here, though they had to fight with them or be forced to leave. "Yeah she has really pretty scales on her, the sparkle in the sun. They are smooth to the touch and she doesn't seemed weighed down at all by it." he offered a light smile. "I love my sister a lot, Im sure there isn't a thing I wouldn't do for her, you know?" he asked wondering if she too felt that same drive to protect family. To ensure his tight knit family stayed safe.
Noa looked to her as she soon spoke about the puzzle and snorted a bit. "It's okay I bet you would have done really good at it." he spoke earnestly to her, nodding all the more. He had no doubt the talori children were quite brilliant, why he himself was well. Not the sharpest around, he wasn't afraid to admit it honestly. "Sorry you got tired though, I know it must be difficult being here when its so dry and even the air can be dry." Noa added a soft smile to his words, he did truly feel bad for her, it had to be difficult.
At the mention of the meadows he perked up greatly as it seemed she agreed it would be nice! "Yes we can even go during the evening so the sun is not at its high point so we wont get all hot and such." he nodded happily. "Its really nice, I know you all would love it truly! All the colors and so many flowers, so much not even your brother could make a dent in them. I will admit my sister and I have ran in them before so much fun" he chuckled a bit. "But I can ask my dad's sometime if we can plan something to go. Im sure you'd have to ask your mom and brothers too." he sheepishly spoke turning his head a bit bashfully.

Listening to him speak about his sister, she grinned. The sibling bond, the closeness, Pearl tilted her head with a small chuckle. "I know exactly what you mean. There isn't a thing I wouldn't do for my twin- Apart from when he tries to get me into trouble with his silly adventures...Though I'll admit, I can't help but cave every now and then for him. I can't stay cooped up indoors all the time and be so boring...Hehe," She offered a little shrug, sucking on her bottom lip. "I'd love to meet your sister though sometime, I would appreciate touching her scales. It's a curiosity of mine! I've never met a scaly horse before!"
She sighed and shuffled closer to the edge of the bed to get a clearer look into Noa's eyes. It felt so relaxing to have an honest conversation. There were the ones with her brother of course- But sometimes talking to a stranger...Was even better. There wasn't that judgement- Though perhaps after this, there was sure to be some and there was even plans to have him show her around. Ah! Her nerves were burning her throat. "The air is indeed dry here, dusty sometimes. That's when mother won't let me leave the house at all- Not that I want to anyway..." She admitted and crossed her forelegs over. "Sorry- I mean. I do want you to show me around...But..." Her eyes flickered over to the curtains that were hanging loosely across the window, where the sun was now started to trace the edges of the fabric and created a golden light.
Pearl drew her blanket up over her head, just to be safe. She didn't want any peaking rays to catch her translucent skin. His words did warm her up. The adventure he was speaking of taking her on, seeing those wild flowers...Her eyes sparkled with some newfound appreciation. He was speaking of leaving in the evening, so that she wouldn't burn. She grinned and leaned forwards to bump her muzzle against his. "Wow! I didn't think of seeing the flowers when the sun was setting. T-Thank you for taking me into consideration." She averted her eyes but couldn't stop the grin. "I think my mother would agree to the idea, if my brother came along to look after me. I think she mentioned making friends with the locals... You can be my first friend!"
Pearl's large round ears perked up in his direction, her mind racing at playing in the flowers with this new found friend. "Oh...T-That's if you want to be friends of course."
