Ila
She’d taken him up on that offer of stepping into Nilam’s place and help protecting her while she was out in the desert otherwise alone. It certainly beat truly being alone, having only her own wits about her and what she knew of the land, or having to ask a complete stranger to accompany her for that matter. While she never minded travelling with one of the Fleet Foot or another Fury she didn’t know quite as well as her brother, it was nice to have Predwin by her side. From their tea time, when they’d supposed to be on a date she’d then told her brother he’d failed at pulling a trick on her and making an embarrassment of herself, she’d felt as if she could trust Predwin. He seemed like a sensible warrior - not to mention hopefully a good friend.
It’d been nice to take a fly with him to edge of the sea. No worries, definitely no siblings to tease or pick back on, just conversation over the wind if they could manage and if not that then just a peaceful fly. Most of the morning had been her getting ready to dive, everything such as her saddlebag and whatever they’d brought with them for protection or otherwise set on the ground, before she’d taken back to the air to dive. It wasn’t the most eventful things for others keeping a lookout unless they entertained themselves somehow, though it was reassuring for herself that if anything went wrong someone at least was on the surface that could potentially get her if she didn’t come back in a timely fashion or met trouble when she did come back with her gatherings.
There’d been probably a time or two she could have had some predator waiting for her to come back if it hadn’t been for someone watching out for her. Nothing she thought of, however, while diving or while coming back to the surface. Not then, anyways, as she did clamber out of the water, shaking it from herself and her feathers. “A break is probably a good idea,” she threw out as a mention, setting down whatever valuables she had managed to gather and hold in her telekinetic grasp.
If she was ever blessed by Alya, wind manipulation was probably going to be on her list of what she’d hope for, she decided with a soft laugh at how probably soaked she looked. A drowned bird. What better way would it have been to dry off than use the wind? “Did you bring anything for a lunch, or am I sharing?” It was more of a joke than anything else, a glance cast over to Predwin as she’d trotted to her bag to sort everything she’d gathered so far that morning. Seaweed had to be wrapped neatly, but pearls? Glass? That was all tucked into pockets, her focus on making sure nothing would go out of place.

The flight to the ocean had been a scenic and enjoyable one, filled with talking and the feeling of the sun on his back. He had been pleasantly surprised when Ila had taken him up on his previous offer, and had practically jumped at the chance to go out and do something other than stand around the city looking for trouble.
He didn't even mind how little went on while she was diving, as she often brought up enough interesting bits from under water to keep Predwin otherwise occupied. There had been a few occasions where he had gotten the chance to use his skills as a fury to spook off unwanted predators, but they had been just that a few. Normally, the stallion would've found the entire ordeal to be relatively boring, but Ila was well worth the company.
Creo had actually begun to make fun of the stallion for his interest in the fellow pegasus, as he was more than certain that Nilam had done with Ila. Though Prid admittedly didn't feel any of that kind of attraction to the mare. No, she was most certainly a friend... probably one of the only friends Prid had outside of the furies, to be exact.
And that was nice. Nicer than he would have expected. He would have never considered how similar he was to other horses within Serora that didn't hold the position of Fury if it had been for Ila, and for that... he was honestly pretty thankful.
Most of the morning was spent watching Ila dive, until finally, some time around noon she resurfaced and declared that she wanted to take a break from her work. The stallion couldn't help but smile, excited to chat with the pegasus over a small meal. After all, he hadn't eaten since leaving out that morning, and he was getting a little hungry.
"I'm certainly ready for a break if you are." The stallion said with a slight chuckle. "Not like I really need one though. You've been doing most of the work."
It was true. All he had to do was stand around and look tough, she had been jumping in and out of the water since they had gotten to the little slice of coast they now stood on. Even if he had felt relatively useless, there had been plenty of opportunities for him to sit and think while also practicing some of his fighting stances on the ground, and he had needed the practice.
At the mention of food, the stallion's stomach let out a burbled growl. Had he brought lunch with him? He couldn't remember if he had left the small knapsack he had prepped back in the city or not. A frown played on his lips for a moment as he glanced around. "I... well, I might have forgotten it..." He mentioned after a moment. Sheepishly he smiled at the mare in apology. He wasn't exactly the brightest of stallions sometimes. "Oops." Post 1| Word Count: 495

Ila
“Don’t really need one? Predwin, please. Give yourself a little more credit,” she told him after giving him a playful look, looking back to her bag she packed with every valuable before she made sure the pockets were securely closed. “You’re doing plenty making sure nothing of a catastrophe happens. Us water gatherers might be… better at what we do than perhaps someone else if they were hired for the job they weren’t use to, but that doesn’t mean we don’t need help and you provide plenty of it by being here.” Watching out in case she didn’t come back home, making sure no predators or scavengers got to her bag or waited for her to return and ambush her.
It helped as well in the case another horse with low morals showed up and fancied themselves either an easy bag to snatch or a horse to steal away from the lands of sand. One could never to be too careful, and Ila was grateful for his company and protection. Of course, that being said, she had indeed lived with her own brother’s teasings. Nilam enjoyed poking fun at her, and for her failed date to have come out with a friend? He’d suspected more where there wasn’t. The stallion in front of her… She couldn’t quite place it. She saw quite a bit of her own reflection in his eyes, past the very real reflection there when he looked at her, and she only thought of him as a friend. A close friend already if she could be so brave as to call him that.
He was practically a brother, though she definitely didn’t need anymore of those, and him admitting he’d forgotten his food made her laugh. That was something Nilam did a lot too. “No worries,” she reassured him cheerfully, smiling as she took the lunch that had been wrapped from her bag and canteens to hold out to him in her telekinetic glow, “Nilam usually forgets his lunches, so I always make sure to bring a little extra.”
She didn’t mind sharing with others either. Friends, guards merely sent to accompany her if she didn’t sneak out before they arrived at her doorstep. What did it matter if they all ate and shared with one another? Everyone had to eat, and the Serora herd was practically family. She felt comfortably enough to share with them and Predwin, despite how flustered her brother could make her over the friendship she had with him, was no different. She didn’t mind sitting beside him, sweeping up her hair to tie up as she looked out at the sea before turning her attention to him and smiling again. “So what exactly did you forget?”
She wondered if his sister was going to steal it and have it for her own lunch if she left any later than he did. The thought sent an amused look across her face, though she didn’t ask his opinion on it. Mischievous siblings… Well, it was difficult to keep their hooves away from food that didn’t belong to them unless it was hidden. Even then it could sometimes be a hassle if they had a nose for poking it out.
