" BORED."Daisuke's declaration split through the room like an electric shock. Those foolish enough to regard him with the attention he desired would find his expression sour, body thrown across the floor with every too-long leg outstretched and fidgety. "This is so boring!" He repeated, lamenting his woes as he rolled on to his back with legs flailing, as though he might be able to expend his excess energy by combating an unseen foe.
His father had tricked him. Ozzer had said this was going to be fun, that he was going to have 'a ball' playing among children his own age. But this was not fun. It was a room, and he was stuck here. Daisuke was accustomed to the thrill of open caverns and hidden crystals, not to sitting still within equine-made walls.
And his father was off doing something exciting for the royals! Daisuke considered this a betrayal most foul.
“Zahara!" He cried, suddenly sitting up. His eyes locked on the mare, sparkling with an idea. "Tell us a story. A scary story."

Merla didn't feel particularly at ease with any of this. She wasn't five she knew something was happening. This waiting around for news was painful. But there was little she could do but follow instructions and just lie there with her side pressed to the wall her ears flicked back and forth trying to catch sounds from the outside while her mind wandered back out the door.
Did this mean something had happened? Her pulse quickened as she in her imagination wandered through dark streets and alleyways. Had someone been hurt...or worse? Was that why such actions were being taken? This didn't just happen without a reason, if it was nothing as her father had said then he wouldn't have been so clearly worried.
It made her think of late night conversations she'd overheard from her fathers patrons in hushed tones over their cups...
Her thought train was dragged from its anxious tracks by the demands for a story from Daisuke. Which niggled at Merla's deep need for manners. The mare the younger foal was speaking to deserved more respect than that "If you want something I think 'please' is a good word to use." she suggested looking pointedly at the colt.
Lack of P's and Q's aside Daisuke did have a good thought there Merla thought as she shifted herself to straighten her posture and stretch out a foreleg. Merla looked to Zahara hesitating a little before she said "Please though, If it isn't too much trouble Miss I think I'd like to hear a story too, Though i think something more fantasy than scary would be a good idea" she added the last thinking that things were already scary enough for her personal taste and the last thing she wanted was more nightmares to gallop through her head. Her eyes sought out the other occupants “what do you all think?”

This wasn't what she had expected. Concern and worry for the people of the city but also for the Kirins that were being extracted from the city when they had done nothing wrong. Zahara hoped that when the time came no harm would be done to them. For now she would look after the children has she had been asked to. Zahara would do her best to keep them all safe during this time. Laying stretched out long her back was her companion a tanuki by the name of Tsuki. The creature had only recently become her helper but the two got along well even if Tsuki was a little lazy. "BORED." The half asleep creature stirred making a low high pitched noise some where between a whine and a growl at the Daisuke's declaration. Finally, turning the children in the house with her Zahara's blue eyes looked over. Even though most of them were blurry she could she still see the boredom growing in him with the sour face he was making. Zahara had kind of hopped they would entertain themselves by playing together but that looked like it wouldn't be the case. Her eyes had wondered to the other children in the room when she heard her name turning back her eyes to colt. "Tell us a story. A scary story." This caused a pause from her, a scary story? Oh dear, she hadn't been prepared for that. Thinking on this for a moment before she spoke. "Alright, gather around. Let me see..." She paused trying to come up with some and thought about an old story her mother once told her.
"When I was a filly my mother use to tell me an an old tale passed down for years. Deep in the tunnels of our home lives a terribly scary monster. He is huge, with skin cracked and scaly from disease, and great horns that sprout from his head. He is said to prowl around looking for bad little foals who don't go to bed on time to eat. He goes by the name of Skingrabber" Zahara told them her eyes looking to each of the foals. Tsuki shifted on her back getting comfortable as she listened to her speak. "I have even seen him with my own eyes and barely escaped. " Zahara watched the reactions of the foals.

Eos | Uncut
Eos was not happy. Not only had she been seperated from her family without much explanation, the place were she was cooped in was extremly boring. The only thing to look forward to was the promise of her father that he would bring something back from wherever it was he was going. What she had preferred however had been going along with him. She valued trips more than gift, but she had only nodded and let it be as she and her sister where seen of to the house all foals would be going. Her mama was of somewhere too. She had spent the first few - What was it? Minutes? Hours? Days? -discussing what their papa would bring back for them, what he and their mama would be doing and why they all had to stay here. Eventually the talk had run out though and they had slowly sunk into boredom. It was no surprise one of the other foals declared as much. “Yes,” she agreed, eyeing the other foal whom she did not know the name of, but she decided she liked because he had cool ears. “Tell something cool, please.” Her tone was demanding despite the added please.
As Zahara headed the foals’ request she sat herself down and listened attentivally. She was curious, not having heard of such monsters before by either her parents. Questions immediatly sprung to her mind the more Zahara told. She waited to ask them till the mare seemed content enough to wait for them to say something. Question after question flew from her mouth. “What disease did it have? Was it a horse? Why does it only eats bad foals? Are you a bad foal?”

Cecillia | Royal family
Cecillia did her best not to sulk as she stood inside the room with a bunch of foals. She had been brought here ‘to play’ with them. She failed, but then she hardly felt like it was out of the ordinary she was not happy to be here. Cecillia was not stupid. Though a lot of things passed by her and her parents more often treated her like she was a little child, she considered herself an adult. Someone of the royal family at that. She also had a rather keen set of ears and the whispers in the street and around the palace had made her rather nervous. She was not here to play, that was for sure. Even if she were, she would be unsure on how to go about it. She wasn’t quite used to interacting witt those closer to her age. Her parents had worried rhough child’s play might injure her. Fourteen now she felt like it might not be appropriate for a lady to engage in such activity either. What bothered her most however was that something was going on and that she, who had been doing her best to prove herself as capable member of the royal family, had been sidelined with the children without so much as a word.
She pouted, tried to stay calm as to not upset the other children and listened to them complain. She didn’t really feel like hearing a scary story, but settled down to listen anyway. To her scary was a dangerous situation, an unknown sound. The description Zahara gave was hardly scary to her, nor the prospect of getting taken away. She considered herself to be a good foal after all. Her hooves pawed at the ground and she heard Aiko yawn somewhere in the corner of the room. He had decided sleep was the best way to pass time. Maybe she should join him.

Raksha|Breim|Outsider
You need never feel broken again Sometimes darkness Can show you the light
Liars. She knew it. That pompously dressed King’s Guide had lied straight into her face. He’d told her she had nothing to fear. And now all over the city kirins were hunted down by guards, no one could tell where they are being taken.
And this afternoon they knocked on her door. Luckily she was prepared. The small house had a back door and so the large kirin was already on the run when the guards broke the front door. Raksha had only a small head start and her local knowledge was still rather minimalistic. So she rushed disorientated through the streets. Her heavy hooves clattered way to loud over the hard ground and her size made her slow.
The kirin knew that she had to hide somewhere before the guards before she was in the guards field of view again. She could already hear them not that far behind her. The streets of Nariah were empty, except for the hunters and their prey. For a moment she wondered how many of her brethren had already been caught, and if even a single one would manage to escape. This land was foreign, their people were too. She had found shelter at the home of a young pegasus colt, that had been willing to rethink his opinion about the monsters he knew from stories. Why couldn’t the adults do the same?
Suddenly she stumbled over the uneven ground, but managed to stay on her hooves and her thoughts focused back on the here and know. She had maybe one more minute, probably less before the guards were able to see her, and then it was over. Raksha needed a hiding place. Now. Hectically she looked around, searching for a house, preferable without a light burning inside. There was a small house at the end of the street, it appeared unlit, but she could be wrong. Nonetheless her time was running away and so she took a deep breath and galloped as fast as she could to the door. If it was locked she had to break it open, hopefully it would stay in one piece.
Raksha prepared herself for a rather rough collusion...and had no time to reduce her speed as the door simple swung open. It hadn’t been locked. Crap. Quick-witted she already closed the door with her teke again, while she was still stumbling into the room. The mare almost lost her balance and so she was still too occupied for a moment to realise that she wasn’t alone.
When surprised and fearful squeaking filled her ears, she immediately raised her head and found herself eye to eye with a group of...foals. If she was lucky, the guards hadn't seen her. If she had even more luck than the neither did the neighbors. But all luck was useless if those kids started screaming now. “Hush! Nobody makes a sound” she commanded, a tone that somehow felt really natural to speak in. Additionally she straightened up to her full height, to appear even more intimidating. There was an adult too, a mare, but somehow Raksha had the bad feeling that the foals would become the bigger problem. Her last encounter with a colt went rather bad as well. Raksha didn’t wanted to scare them, but for now it was necessary. She could excuse later, when the guards were gone.

Zahara hadn't been fully prepared for the bombardment of questions that flowed out of the filly Eos. Smiling softly she opened her mouth to try and reply to the questions only to stop as her ears shot forward catching the sound of heavy hooves before the large Equine came through the door. Tsuki shot up growling fur bristled as the squeaking had startled her. Zahara on the other hand quickly placed herself in front of the children. Her eyes took in the shape of the intruder. They were much larger then her so there was no way she could take them. Not that she could to begin with. Her thoughts were cut when the mare gave a command. "Hush! Nobody makes a sound" Focusing more closely on the mare she could see the scales and she knew it was Kirin. Comforting the children to keep them calm Zahara had a feeling the mare into want to hurt them even though she could see that she was trying to be intimidating by the way she held herself. Looking to the door Zahara wondered if the guards had been close behind. She wasn't going to call for help doing so would only make things worse and she didn't want the large mare to see her as an enemy. She wasn't she wanted to help. Zahara wanted the fear that held the city to be eased but not by imprisoning others who were innocent. "Take a moment to rest miss....." Zahara's voice was light and calm as she turned to the foals "It's alright, there is nothing to fear." She told them her voice soothing and warm.

Eos | Uncut
Eos sat forward, eagerly awaiting answers when there was some noise and some of the foals screamed. "Hey, be quiet. It's not nice-" she started in a berating tone normally reserved for parenting adults. Her protest was cut short however as her eyes fell on the huge equine that had filled into the room, telling them to be quiet. Her eyes went wide, the other looking an awful lot like the beast their babysitter had just described. Said horse however adressed the equine politely. Eos took a step back just to be sure as she tried to get a better look at the newcomers back. A little yell escaped her as she cried: “Oh, you really is sick!” Eyes squinted, looking between Zahara and the ‘monster’ “Hey, this is a monster?” she questioned their storyteller as she backed up a little more to stand aside from said mage, a little to the back as she tried to keep staring at horse with the sick skin. She lifted up her chin in defiance. “You don’t have to eat me. I’ve been good.” Her eyes looked worriedly at the other foals in the room, wondering if any had been bad. Just to be sure, she added. “We are all good foals. Look we stayed here even when it is being boring. That’s good, right?”

As she listened to the story Merla's ears pinned against her head. She was familiar with the legend of the Skingrabber and even that basic gist of it sent her minds eye darting through tunnels to retrieving her imaginings of the skin thief. Though her mother was more detailed on the whys and always started with how the Skingrabber had itself been a bad foal, and that wickedness of spirit had rotted their very skin, cracking and scaling it till they looked more like one of Ignacio's Kirin, cursed forever to look like the demon they acted like. Now they stalk the deep caves and attempt to restore themself by hunting and taking the skin from other naughty foals who would share their fate in order to cover their own ruined hide.
She shuddered imagining the scaled outcast, their body changed and mutated. That same creature had hunted her through her nightmares for months after she'd first heard that tale. She was glad that common sense told her such a monster did not, and could not truly exist...
Those though were her thoughts before the door was flung wide and someone threw themselves inside telling them all to keep quiet, which was a little late since on seeing the newcomer Merla was unable to keep from nearly leaping to her hooves with a startled cry. she skittered backwards to the furthest corner from the monster. I'm sorry Argus! Common sense lied! Help! I didn't mean to summon it with my thoughts! she thought her voice non-compliant as her purple eyes fixed themselves on the scaled intruder.
They didn't need words to intimidate her, and make her wish to be silent but... oh no no no no their adult 'guardian' was just complying? letting the monster in with them because? How could Zahara say there was 'no cause to fear?'
Merla's heart hammered in her chest as Eos boldly stepped up asking the antlered scale crusted equine if they'd not been good. Foal... she thought before realising that she was the one cowering in a corner. she swallowed and took a few tentative steps back towards the kirin forcing herself to look at their face "W-why?" she asked. She grit her teeth hating the way her voice shook around the words, mirroring the tremors she felt in her legs. She made a conscious attempt to steady herself before she continued "Why do you want us quiet? Do you plan to hurt us?"

Cecillia | Royal family
Answers were few before noise made Cecillia turn her head around. She heard one of the foals protest the disturbance but then whoever the intruder was demanded they be quiet and Zahara started complying. Soon one of the others was yelling while the other -was it Eos?- was babbling about monsters. Then there was talk about hurting them and Cecillia was inching back towards Zahara, the only one in the room she was familiar with. She trembled as Aiko growled at the sudden stranger and made their way towards her. She felt slightly relieved as she felt his fur brush her leg. Was there a monster here? Outside? What was going on? The stranger, though demanding, sounded like a normal equine. Were they sick? Bitten by the monster perhaps? Cecillia wanted her mask to chase of the spirits. Did someone have any bells? When answers weren’t forcoming, she managed in a small shaky voice: “Did a monster chase you? Is that why we are here? Is there a monster in the city?” She moved aside a bit more, seeking out what she knew -or thought- to be Zahara and let her flank touch the other’s, trying to reassure herself with the small contact.

Raksha|Breim|Outsider
You need never feel broken again Sometimes darkness Can show you the light
The large mare looked down on the foals and their protectress, her flanks still rising and falling and heavy breathing from the chase she just escaped from. She clearly wasn’t build for speed. Raksha could feel the sweat running down her neck and spine but she didn’t cared about it at the moment, all she wanted was to prevent the foals and the mare before her from screaming. The guards would be here in no time.
Finally the mare that was obviously here to shepherd the foals finally spoke up and completely flustered Raksha with her words. "Take a moment to rest miss....."
Was she serious about that? The bay mare didn’t looked intimidated, but you could never knew. Raksha wouldn’t trust her, none of those underground living horses. Not anymore.
“Oh, you really is sick!” That statement came from the smallest of the foals. Of course then wouldn’t stay quiet. When in history did foals actually behaved? Probably never. The kirin sighed and resigned. Fear wouldn’t get the foals to cooperate. “Listen to...her, there is nothing to fear” she said slightly frustrated about the current situation and turned her head towards the little roan filly. “You are right, you are a good foal. I won’t eat you. Promised”
Right now she was pretty sure that whatever she had been in her past life, a foal hadn’t been part of it. What she had to admit tho, was that the foals had some guts. They looked at her fearful, but also determined. The next one of them that had the courage to talk to her appeared way older than the first. A light build, black filly. “I’m not planning to hurt you, I swear.” her voice was calm and soothing, trying to imitate the way Zahara had spoke to the foals. All the kirin wanted right now was to curl up into a corner and rest. The adrenaline that had flooded her veins slowly faded and the exhaustion kicked in immediately. It was a miracle that the guards didn’t catched her until now,
“Did a monster chase you? Is that why we are here? Is there a monster in the city?”
The unicorn filly hit the mark. Her bright eyes looked oddly aimlessly at Raksha but she didn’t thought about that any further. “...Yes….I was chased. There are indeed monsters out there. However sometimes it’s not that easy to see who they are…Would you mind if I rest here a little?” she asked politely whilst everything she really wanted was to leave that herd and their dark tunnels behind her forever. But that wasn’t possible. Not now. The most important thing right now was to escape the guards, and maybe she could actually manage to do that if those foals accepted her for a while in their dwelling.

Gently touching Cecillia's shoulder with a reassuring touch Zahara smiled at the filly when asked her questions bravely. She knew well what was chasing the mare. It had been the guards and she was sure they were still looking for her. "Your welcome to stay as long as you like." She told the mare looking now to the children. "We are safe here and the monsters won't be able to get us in here." She told reassuring them. Listening closely the world outside the walls of their safe house Zahara looked for signs of anyone coming their way. Turning back to the Kirin mare she spoke to her in a kind voice. "My name is Zahara. If I could what is your name miss?" She asked her. She wanted to put the mare at ease in someway so she started with her name hoping this could be a start. She didn't know how much time they would have or if the guards would even come here to check on them. If she could would try and keep them from taking the mare. But she was servant of the palace she didn't know how much give she have over them if at all.

Eos | Uncut
Eos looked quite pleased that she indeed had been good. Her chest puffed up a little, proud. She'd have to tell her mama and papa that she had faced the Skingrabber monster and got away. Then she frowned. Why would a monster chase another monster? Did they eat each other? The only grown-up in the room even invited the Skingrabber to stay. They were a Skingrabber right? Maybe they were just sick and the other Skingrabbers where trying to make them a Skingrabber as well. "Is this a Skingrabber?" she repeated, looking at Zahara inquiringly. She eyed the stranger's back again. They seemed like their skin really was in bad shape. All cracked and strange colors. It had to be bad. "Is she just sick? The healer can help with that itchy back. The healer helped me when I had to cough." She took a few steps to the side, all wide eyes as she tried to get a better look. She wanted to touch, to feel what it was like, but was afraid it might make her skin itch as well. The foal Daisuke had been screaming, so surely he must think so as well. "I don't want to get sick," she said aloud, looking at Zahara worriedly. She hurried over to stand with Rosie, just to be safe. Her sister draped her wing over her and she felt better instantly, as if the feathers would keep her from getting any skin deceases.

Cecillia | Royal family
Cecillia tensed as the newcomer affirmed there were monsters outside. Zahara telling her that they were safe inside, didn't help a lot, but she tried to be brave. She heard some of the foals scream and didn't want to make them panic. She was confused by the others' words still. Was the newcomer hurt? Sick? Had the monsters hurt her? Zahara tried to calm them and she felt herself appreciating the effort a lot. She wished she was more like Zahara. "We can't go outside until they come get us. But we really are safe here." They must be, since for what other reason than safety would they have put them here? She was actually glad now. This was something more for the guards and had nothing to do with her duties as a member of the royal family. The only think she could be annoyed about was the fact she had not been told why. But then, maybe few were as to not to tip off those they were hunting down. Trying to push the thought of monsters away, she addressed the apparently sick mare and then the room. "I-I can ask Ciel to look at you once we can leave here. He is a doctor and he has helped me a lot." She was rather fond of the doctor. "W-we should not think of the monsters." That might attract them after all, but she didn't want to say that. She leaned closer to Zahara still. "Can we maybe play a game? Keep buzzy?" She was shaking on her hooves.

Raksha|Breim|Outsider
You need never feel broken again Sometimes darkness Can show you the light
When the small mare, named Zahara, spoke again, Raksha looked at her with a suspicious expression on her face. “Why?” she asked, ignoring her question and the foals completely for the moment. “Why would you even want to help me?” Sure the kirins appearance was probably intimidating at the first sign, but the bay pony should have realized already that Raksha wouldn’t hurt anyone in here. So there was, at least in the kirins eyes, no reason not to simply walk out of the door and call for the guards. It must have been an official order, by the king himself, that started this witch-hunt against her and her scaled brethren. Most Breimians were still afraid of the strangers, otherwise some of the civilians would have joined the hunt, that Raksha was sure about. Zaharas behaviour confused her, and so she considered it the best to stay sceptical for the moment.
Soon the foals started to interrupt the conversation between the two adults and reluctantly Raksha focused her attention back on them. “No I’m not a...Skingrabber.” What by Ignacio's flames was a Skingrabber? No wonder that the horses here were afraid of monsters if they told them such stories. “And I’m not i’ll either. This are scales. You know snakes right? Are they i’ll because of their scales? No. It’s also nothing...infectious” Now the kirin mare sounded almost a little offended. The old pride of her kin was still anchored deeply in her soul.
When the blind unicorn filly hesitantly started speaking again, Raksha released a deep breath nodded slightly. “Thank you for the offer, but I’m really not in need of a doctor.” she replied friendly and added a “at least not yet” in her mind. “She is right. We should not think of monsters. We’re all safe in here, and a game sounds wonderful” Her eyes wandered seeking for help to Zahara again. She would probably have a better idea what to play with the foals then she. “...And my Name is Raksha”
