Toshi | NPC Guard A kirin? Right here in the streets of Nariah?! Toshi could hardly believe it. But then again, tracking them all down and capturing them was the task that the High King had assigned to the other guards and him. BUT STILL. A KIRIN. IN NARIAH. His blood boiled with rage and more than a little bit of fear, but the emotions are what sent the adrenaline rushing through his body. His hooves hit the ground faster than he ever felt they had before as he raced along the fairly empty streets in hot pursuit. He was glad that most citizens had heeded the warnings and locked themselves away. This would be much harder if he had to barrel through a crowd of horses, but then again perhaps that would have slowed the kirin down. They seemed fueled by panic, which could be a more effective emotion when it came to providing speed, but he still had the upper hand. He knew the city, and he could use that to his advantage. He could possibly also employ any spectators they did happen across. Surely they would all be on his side, and, if not too afraid, would be be more than willing to help capture this monster. Following the kirin around another corner they now entered a wider street of the outer edges of the city. If the kirin kept on this path they would soon hit the marketplace. It might still have some horses in it, those struggling to maintain Breim's economy in such a crisis, and he could ask them for help. Nostrils flaring with exertion and anger he bent his head, his legs moving just slightly faster than the moment before. He would catch this thing.

Mairon | Kirin | Outsider
The day had started off simply enough, the kirin had received a commission in Nariah for some ornate candle sticks. Naturally the smith had leaped at the opportunity to make some coin and had promptly packed a small anvil and other items he would need. He'd set up shop in a old disused forge at the edge of the city, out of the way where he would hopefully be left to work undisturbed. Fate had other ideas it seemed, for the smith had hardly begun the process of hammering out the heated metal when a group of Breim guards had barged in. Irritated at the intrusion, Mairon briskly told them that if they wanted something mended to wait their turn. To which they had sternly informed him that he was under arrest and was to go with them peacefully. What happened next was reflexive and the kirin couldn't quite explain why he did it. He'd grasped up his hammer with his teke and raised it defensively, the action had felt alarmingly familiar, he'd taken up his hammer as a weapon before. The guards of course did not take too kindly to the gesture and had reacted.
Now Mairon was fleeing down the streets of Nariah with the guards in hot pursuit. If only I could get to the palace and find Nuriko. I'm sure he could sort this mess out. Surely it is nothing more than a little miscommunication, the kirin thought as he rounded a corner. But the street belong looked just as unfamiliar as the previous ones. And in his current situation it was impractical to stop for direction. Not that he'd actually seen anyone yet. It seemed the citizens of Nariah had vacated the streets entirely. The kirin's cloven hooves scrabbled for purchase on the smooth stone as he rounded another turn, to his relief, up ahead he saw a market with a few stands open and a small crowd gathered nearby. Meager though the crowd was it was the kirin's best option to loose his pursuers. As he neared those gathered about the market he slowed, in a hope to blend in, well blend in as much as his long tail and ruby antlers would let him.

Orion Stargazer
Orion had his face in a book as always, the local merchants knew him well and often would just hand him his food while he had his book out and took the coin he owed them from his bag. It was on this lazy day he found himself in the market getting his weekly grocery, and seeing if he could find any new books for his library. He was reading a book on the intricacies of the seasonal star changes when he herds the commotion. At first, he Ignored it. Like most commotions, Orion was not to take part. He had recently been a guide for a Seoran noble of some form with a city guard to take them to the center of the City but it wasn't a common thing for him to leave his library especially with the war on. he was sincerely thinking about joining in the efforts outside of Briem to gain some actual knowledge about the stars. Going outside these caves would be a true adventure. He was occupied with these thoughts as the noise picked up and he was made aware of the Kirin barreling down on him.

Amity | Breim | Maker
Things for Amity were going a bit better in the past few days. She had finally settled the wills of her parents in full and could get back to her craft. Life wasn't what it used to be and would likely be difficult to continue on completely alone, but at least she had Kili. He, being an owl, didn't make much conversation but his company and quirkiness was something. And the Kirins, mysterious as they are, didn't bother her. Still the question plagued her mind of who started the fires in Nariah and well...Kirins popped up out of hiding not long after the fires. Then again, that was just anxious thinking, the ones she had met didn't seem bad, even though one wounded her. It was by mistake and they were just afraid and confused. Yet she had not yet gathered the courage to go and talk to one. They reminded her of Ignacio and Aodh too much for comfort after what the herd had caused with the dragons.
Through the streets she went with Kili on her withers, deciding to do some deliveries to the palace on her own rather than have an Echo take it for her. And so she ended up walking the recovering streets of Nariah once more, a smile on her face.
That is, until she saw a flash of palomino and red barreling towards her.

Toshi - Guard
As they approached the market Toshi made note of the gathered crowd. Certainly not anywhere near the size it should be, but he didn't blame most of Nariah for staying hidden in these trying times. It seemed every time you stepped outside one of Ignacio's followers, an Aodhian or a kirin, was threatening their quiet way of life. And now this creature was about to ram straight through this crowd. Breimians were not used to so much unexpected activity, and he could tell even from a quickly closing distance that the onlookers were unsure of what to make of the situation. They did not react right away, either to block the kirin's path or to get out of the way. They simply stood dumbstruck. He had hoped they could be of service, but they were unprepared and in a few seconds this kirin would just run straight into them, possibly injuring them.
The monster's pace did slow, but the guard couldn't imagine that they would stop completely to avoid an impact.
He began to close the gap between them, spotting the two horses directly in the way - an appaloosa and a paint. "Don't just stand there!" he shouted to them. Suddenly he tucked his hindquarters underneath him, sliding almost to a stop. At the pace they had been going he could not use his blessing, but now that his hooves were firmly planted on the ground he reached deep, and pushed up a wall of hard earth. The wall shot up right between the kirin and the bystanders. It was only chest height - he did not want the kirin smashing into it. They wanted it alive. But hopefully it would not have time to react, and would have its legs taken out from under them.

Mairon | Kirin | Outsider
A shout from behind alerted the kirin that the guards had caught up. He glanced back to get a better view of his pursuers. Out of the corner of his eye he spotted a chimera mare with… was that an owl? Mairon really didn’t have time to ponder it as he felt a tremor under his feet. There was a sound of earth being moved and the kirin swung his head around to see a low wall of earth rising before him. Without thinking he leaped, tucking his cloven hooves up under him, just enough to clear the barrier. “Ha! Gonna have to do better than tha- OH NO!” His triumphant jab turned into a cry of alarm as another obstacle presented itself, an appaloosa stallion who seemed a little unaware of the situation. Mairon dug his hooves into the earth, striking sparks, but it was just a little too late.
WHAM!
The kirin smacked into the Breim stallion and felt himself tumble over a few times before coming to a stop. The fugitive metal smith opened his eyes to see everything upside down. With a quiet groan he rolled over and attempted to gather his legs under him, they seemed to be working alright. The kirin sat up, still too dazed to get to his feet and dash off. After assuring himself his one unbroken horn was still intact he looked about him hoping for a way of escape. Several alleyways up ahead looked promising, the kirin paused as his eyes fell on the stallion he had barreled into. “Sorry, I am in a bit of a rush.” It was a poor excuse at an apology but Marion's mind was somewhat preoccupied with the oncoming guards. Plus it was the oaf’s own fault for not getting out of the way, now the kirin’s coat was dusty and his knees were bruised. If he’d had an abundance of time on his hooves the smith might be tempted to yell at the fool who had gotten in the way of a Child of Ignacio.
With a wince the kirin rose to his feet and swayed a little before regaining his balance. The mare with the owl caught his eye, he attempted to convey a look- a silent plea for help. After all with the way things were turning out these bystanders were quite possibly the only thing between the kirin and a cold unforgiving jail cell.

Amity | Breim | Maker
Amity's crimson eyes widened as the guard shouted to her and almost instantly afterward a small wall of stone shot up between the fleeing Kirin. Her ears flattened nervously and she skittered to the side, dislodging Kili from her withers and causing him to hoot his annoyance and circle the scene from the air. Her movement despite the wall was a good one, for the creature easily cleared it. Just in time to crash into an Echo she had seen around Sterling sometime recently.
Her ears pricked as she swung her head to look at the Guard, then back to the Kirin who had just taken quite the tumble. His thoughts were loud and clear. Xenophobia, which she wasn't a fan of. But the look he gave her and the plea for help his thoughts conveyed engaged her sympathy. Before the Guard closed in on the poor creature, she stepped between the two. A quick look was sent in the direction of the Kirin to show she meant no harm before she faced the Guard and the dazed Echo again. She flicked her long pale tail before dipping her head in greeting.
"Hello, Sir. I'm sorry to interrupt, but why are you chasing down this Kirin? His thoughts don't convey a crime." She murmured gently, her old shoulder wound from another Kirin twinging a bit when she uttered the name of Ignacio's children. She made sure to keep the mood mild and the conversation pleasant.

Toshi - Guard
Toshi's mouth opened in a surprised and annoyed gape as the kirin took flight over the wall, but his expression quickly changed to one of satisfaction as the equine barreled into one of Breim's citizens. He DID feel bad for the appaloosa - he would have to award him for his services in (unwillingly) helping to obstruct the perpetrator - but right now the guard was too focused on his assignment to worry. He didn't seem too hurt afterall...
The earth barrier sunk into the ground as he shook his head. Now was not the time to worry about someone getting knocked over, albeit quite forcefully. Here was this kirin, one of the children of fire - he shuddered at the word - and they were all but his prisoner now. He did not know what King Hajime would do with them once they were gathered, but Toshi felt it in his soul that it was deserved. He stood tall now, approaching purposefully but calmly to the rising kirin. The stallion couldn't figure out why he didn't run away immediately. The kirin had looked off towards one of the alleyways, but he hadn't made his move. Instead he paused to speak and take in those around him. His mistake. Toshi was now close enough that another earthen wall rose, but this time it grew taller than all of them and surrounded the small group. He would have preferred that the onlookers not be encircled with them, but it was unavoidable in the close quarters of the market.
"By order of High King Hajime all kirins must be brought to the palace to face trial," he spoke to the chimera mare. "Now I must ask you to step aside, ma'am, so that I might take this one to the king. Only once they are all brought to justice can Breim be safe again." His voice conveyed conviction, and a true belief that these strangers were the cause of all their troubles.
