Unity
Unity was walking slowly back towards their little hut, back to where she had hoped Queen still remained sleeping. As for where Unity was walking from? Well that's a story in itself. what was supposed to be a mid morning workout with her other Fury's turned into a prep for the mission that would be happening tomorrow, at least the heading out part. She gulped faintly, it wasn't as if this was out of the normal, but this time around they wouldn't be shaking off the thunderbirds, but hoping to appease them and help aid for the great war to come. Unity shook her head, this was not something she wanted to discuss, but if she disappeared without letting Queen know. Oh she couldn't even imagine, the cruelty of that. Queen was her ship, the reason she had stayed afloat in the midst of the blue of her depression. Unity would have been nothing without Queen. Queen saved her and at times, knowing she choose such a dangerous job, she worried of the stress it would cause her beloved.
Still she walked forwards, shaking away the thoughts that wanted to drown her in her own sweet misery. Now was not the time, today could be their last day together, and Unity did not want to make it something painful. No, she would make this a wonderful day, a day where the two could laugh and enjoy everything before the hardship of war and duty plagued them. Unity moved with more purpose in her step, a smile on her face, and the feeling of determination. Unity trotted towards their tent and opened the flap, peering in. "Queenie? Love? You awake?" she asked gently, her voice ringing out a bit like a song. Wanting to make her love chuckle or smile. Because oh goodness when Queen smiled, oh it made everything so much better. It have her heart a skip, and her stomach would flutter, that smile could move mountains, she was sure of it.

Queen blinked at the ring of Unity's voice, it took a moment for the penguin mare to come to in the morning but Unity could bring her out of anything. Shifting her head on the pillows so she could look at Unity, she smiled. Just a slight quirk, but the early rising mare could do that to her even in the darkest of nights.
"Aye I am now" Queen said warmly as she still laid on their bed mat, blinking up at her companion, trying to rid the sleep from her eyes. That was until she picked up on something not fully right with her mate. That broke any morning dullness and with agility that only their dancing had given her, the grey and white mare was up and looking over Unity. Her flipper wings were not useful for flying but they could be used as an additional extension. They reached out now and pattered the warmth of Unity's neck, chest and shoulders as Queen fretted. She looked over and around Unity in worry.
"Whats wrong my dear..." There was something wrong and Queen simply felt it. They had been so close, so connected for sometime now that small changes were so easy to notice and Queen's heart ached in the hope she would never lose that. Settling when she realized it was not something physical she stilled and looked with her deep blue eyes into Unity's gentle lavender. (241)

Unity
Unity mused gently to herself as she heard the voice of the one that calmed her storms. Eyes looked to Queen as she watched her muse form her sleeping, and gods she tried to calm her heart. Unity's heart was quickening in pace and surely her love would notice, and it seemed that she did. Though as to what degree it was still untold, but the mare cooed gently as felt the slick wing of her Queen brush against her chest. "Im not harmed, do not fret, my Queen." she spoke gently as she reached out nuzzling Queens cheek, taking in her warmth and scent, something she always missed when she traveled outwards. But still she knew she was avoiding the real question, if she was not harmed, what made Unity stay where she was instead of just rolling into the comfort of her love as always.
"I didn't want to tell, you not now at least. I wanted us to enjoy today you know." she smiled, but it faulted some. "I was meeting the other furies today, and it seems we have our new mission. Something we've never really done before. We are going to the nesting ground of the thunderbirds and try to seek their aid for the war to come. To see if we can agree on mutual understanding of some sort." she laughed a bit, but it felt hollow. "We leave tomorrow Queen." she remarked offering that smile of her. It was kind, but also dripped so much in sadness. Unity looked at Queen and kept her distance, not getting to close so she could gauge her reaction.
The talk of war was something neither wanted to dive into, but with each passing day they knew what was to come. What they all could lose, but gods they had so much more to gain. Serora was a free herd, this lifestyle was nothing like the others. They lived in peace, that was until now. When aodh demanded war for the sake of a few horses. It was sickening, and honestly, they were fighting more for their own herd, but the lives of Vagabods. Though Unity was thankful, she never had to fret about losing Queen into fights or wars. her occupation enver really took her there, but instead Unity allowed that pain to be pushed onto Queen where she would fret and worry. Even now, without knowing, she was making Queen worry. "Im sorry love." she whispered out.

Queen did not bother hiding emotions, not with Unity. So at first Queen bunched up her grey forehead in confusion. The thunderbirds? Would they really need the riley beasts on their side for this fight. Then the solidity of the fact of war slammed into Queen and her brows upturned with worry and concern. Yes, they would need every trick they could muster for this if they wanted to come out on top and not in the worst of shape themselves.
"We leave tomorrow Queen."
Taking a breath in she tried to drown the want to run. The want to flee from the pain in her heart, but she hated running from Unity. Not her, not this beautiful horse full of intricate designs shaved into her fun. Not the one with the lavender eyes that softened the world enough for Queen to be herself. No she would not run, she would face this. Instead of fleeing from emotion she plunged forward and wrapped her neck around Unity's. Queen did not cry, though the wetness was crisp upon her lashes.
"Ah. Love, thats sure the be an interesting meeting" Her voice was clearly full of emotion but she coughed it out softly and pulled back, letting all her raw emotion show but not pour out and make a mess. "Good thing we have no work today" Queen laughed a muzzy sounding laugh, full of heart. "Weather you like it or not my dear, we are spending the WHOLE day together"
Queen gave a knowing wink and smiled. A smile that showed the love she felt for the horse before but also the fear of losing her, the fear of not having her unity. (287)
