Rowin listened to the mares and took heed. He back peddled a few more paces with the other stallions and watched. His wings beat in a calm rhythmic pattern as he watched. As the thunder birds began this eerie chorus of squawking and screeches he felt his panic rise from his stomach to his throat. He wanted to be of help but at the moment this was all he could do. He looked to brothers in wings, Roland, Thierry, and Predwin. They too looked strained, just like him.
He turned his pale blue eyes back to the situation on the ground, then his eyes flicked to the horizon. The sun would be gone in a few hours. If some issue were to emerge in that time they'd be stuck in the dark. "Shit." He muttered with furrowed brows.
He saw the mighty Thunderbird beat her wings in aggression. But then he noticed a sudden calm as the sand settled, and he could hear the mare Creo's voice lift ever so slightly from hope, 'Whats going on down there?' He wondered. Glancing to his brothers then back down at the ground.

Unlike his sister, Predwin was far from the diplomatic type of pegasus. Sure, he could easily improvise attacks or make up a story on the spot, but when it came to politics, he was about as far from useful as he could get. Throwing him into a river and asking him to swim would garner better results, if he was being completely honest... so of course, when Creo asked for the males to back away, Predwin did so as quickly as possible.
He was far from afraid. The initial terror of seeing such a large thunderbird had quickly dissipated as the actual discussions began. To be honest, he was straining to hear what was going down, feeling extremely useless as Creo and Glainne stood so close to the dangerous creatures.
He took note of Rowin's grumbled response at what Predwin could only assume was the situation that the furies had gotten themselves into. He let out a short huff, almost as if he was in agreement, but didn't speak aloud. He was too focused on his sister and the discussions that were going on below.
He hated being so useless! A large part of him wanted to swoop down, to ask for information and force his way into the mess that they had all gotten into, but he knew better. Glainne had mentioned that males were seen as lesser to the thunderbirds... and to make matters worse, he would probably only force the creatures to anger more.
That was the last thing he wanted to do. So he stuck with the others that had pushed themselves away, his annoyance slowly rising as he continued to worry about what could go wrong. Post 5 | Word Count: 281

Glainne | Serora | Fury There is freedom waiting for you, on the breezes of the sky. And you ask, “What if I fall?” Oh but my darling, what if you fly?
When this was all said and done, Glainne was going to buy Creo all the liquor she could drink for the next month. The other mare was able to be diplomatic where she failed and the younger mare was very grateful. She had never been very diplomatic, maybe she and Creo could work on that. She could translate what the Matriarch said for Creo, and would gladly do it. When Creo bowed she followed suit though not bowing as deep to keep a protective watch over the other mare. Though she was really getting tired of the Matriarch calling their tongues rotten, they were being honest so the female Thunderbird only seem believed what she wanted to believe. All defense against the Thunderbirds was assault, yada yada, they could be more disrespectful in their actions, Glainne’s thoughts were dry and unamused at the Matriarch.
Thank Ayla for Creo’s ‘wicked tongue’, she didn’t mind the idea of Aodh learning just how vicious the Thunderbirds could be when provoked. With Creo’s offers spoke, all they could do was wait to see how the Matriarch reacted. She kept her wings spread out in the half-bow but Tivy stayed a fluffed ball of white feathers between the mare’s dark wings. The hawk kept muttering annoyed and dark things that Glainne could barely hear, not liking the Matriarch one bit but staying with the mare.

golgotha against the sun, we're the enemy
It was out of character for Golgotha to be quiet.
If her years with the furies had taught the impulsive woman anything though, it was that there were times she needed to be less herself. Quick action had brought tragedy on her squadron before --in the face of this very foe, the great Thunderbirds-- and Golgotha alone was old enough to remember.
She was suddenly so aware of how young all these soldiers were, how brave and eager. Courage was a necessary ingredient of a Fury, for certain, but Golgotha's mouth tightened every time the Thunderbird raised its grating voice. She narrowed her eyes behind her tinted goggles and watched with careful relief as the men in the squadron backed away. Creo's quick thinking was coming through.
"Listen," Golgotha added, not advancing on the bird, but speaking from where she loomed hugely near the back of the squadron. "These Aodh sonsabitches don't have respect for anything. They'll try to burn this place, burn your home. They've made slaves of everything they've encountered, turned landscapes into ugly, wasteful cities. They consume, destroy, and pollute. And there's millions of 'em."
She sniffed, wrinkling her upper lip. "You don't have to help us, but you'd be doing yourselves a favor if you don't let these soot sniffers get their claws into Sedo. They don't fear you like we do. But they should." 226 words

Malaika | Thunderbird matriarch
Malaika fixed the equines with a glare as she awaited their answer. Behind the matriarch some thunderbirds had made their way onto the edges of their nests. They were quiet but towered over them with their size, letting a silent thread hang in the air. If their matriarch didn’t like what was proposed, they would charge. The males of their group had fallen back to a respectful distance. She was amused to note they didn’t even dare communicate with their own kind which she had half expected. The equines were like that. She didn’t get why the females even tolerated it, but she could care less how they let themselves be treated. As long they didn’t talk to her or her sisters it was none of her concern. The trickster tongue seemed to have lost reason to speak to her and instead another had taken her place as speaker. What she was saying was alluring, if only marginally so. It wasn’t like they needed other nesting grounds, tradition was sacred, but she was half tempted to take it, just because she felt like most of the land belonged to them anyway and she rather see more places equine free. It wasn’t like she needed food delivered either. They were prime hunters. To kill was an art and they prided themselves in it. They were rulers of the sky. Yet the idea of offerings, like one would leave for gods, now that fed her pride. Pride for her species. It was alluring. She might take it, but-
Then another opened her mouth. And what she said made Malaika see red. She screeched and pushed herself into thz air, leathered wings flapping furiously to keep herself into place. “Don’t fear? We are the highest beings to prowl these skies. Fear us indeed they should!” More thunderbirds followed her example, hoovering above their nest and calling loudly, their screeches morphing in cacaphony of sounds. They were angry and the air crackled, rain started to fall in this display of power. Drop by drop. “Tell your leader we’ll settle these terms later. We will teach these Aodhians of yours what fear is. We will bring death from above. There will be no mercy for them if they dare set hoof on our hunting grounds. Now begone before we decide to turn you into our next meal!”

Glainne | Serora | Fury There is freedom waiting for you, on the breezes of the sky. And you ask, “What if I fall?” Oh but my darling, what if you fly?
Glainne watched the Thunderbirds making their way to the edges of their nests, eyeing the added threat to the Furies safety. She felt her feathers rise and fall at the sound of Gogo’s voice behind her. Oh… she hopped that would thwart their attempt at diplomacy. She turned her gaze back to the Matriarch just in time to see a contemplative look suddenly shift to rage. Oh Alya, she thought preparing to launch herself into the air. The Matriarch’s words had her freezing in place. What? That had worked to get their cooperation? Well this semi-agreement had would have to suffice for now.
“Matriarch Malaika has decided to teach Aodhians to fear Thunderbirds,” she informed Creo, Unity, and Gogo, she winced at the deafening cacophony of sounds that the hovering Thunderbirds created. “Now we should get out of here and regroup back on that plateau. Before she decides to eat us out of spite.” She raised her voice to let it carry to the Matriarch and her fellow furies in the sky, “Thank you noble Matriarch, we will not impose on your Nesting Grounds any longer.” She then leapt into the sky, the chaotic winds caused by the Thunderbirds made flying back to the males a little tricky but Glainne was able to lead the group back to the plateau they had taken off from earlier.
She knew that the others would be eager to hear what had happened so as soon as all were on the ground looking at her she did a word for word repeat of what the Matriarch had said. “Seems the mere thought that the Aodh don’t fear her people as a deep insult and she wishes to correct that.” She finished fluffing her feathers a little to release some left over nerves from the talk. She looked over at the dark skies over the Nesting Grounds and sighed, “Hopefully the ‘terms’ she will settle on won’t be more than we are willing to give.”

4 | 290The stallion's wings beat in a rhythmic movement, keeping him hovering in the air beside the others. His long tail flicked with anticipation, short hair shifting in the breeze. He didnt understand anything the thunderbird was saying, but her tone certainly didnt scream "agreeable" to him. This caused a shiver to run down his back. He glanced toward Rowin as the stallion let out a quiet "Shit." and nodded. He felt the same.
His brow furrowed as the two mares called back, claiming the Matriarch didnt respect males. Though, the more he thought of it, the more it made sense. He snorted to himself, lips pressed together in a small pout. This was awfully boring; listening the bird and the mares screech back at each other. He never was one for sitting on the side lines.
It was then that Glainne turned and returned, motioning for them to follow. They arrived back at the plateau from earlier. The wind had picked up, no doubt from the fury they had put the thunderbirds in. His ears pricked toward Glainne as he tucked his painted wings to his sides, his ears pressed back as he glanced back at the darkening skies over the nesting grounds.
"They'll have no choice but to work with us." He said with a slight nod. "Otherwise, we'll all be in trouble, thunderbirds included." Flicking his tail, he turned his attention back to the others, cracking a small smile. "Now, i dont know about you guys, but i dont want to become bird food. Last one home gets to be just that." He chirped before leaping into the air once more. They had to get back and inform the Sultan, and he doubted they would appreciate any delay.

It was one in an instant. The moments of tension that roiled through the pegasus' wings slowly fading as he shot down after his sister and Glainne and the others that had been right up next to the towering beast. It didn't take long for him to realize that everybody was more than ready to make haste and get out of there, and as Roland expressed that they should get moving, he was more than slightly inclined to agree with a brisk nod.
The sooner they got away from the sacred grounds of the thunderbirds, the better.
Quickly, he trotted over to Creo, bumping her in good nature. "I couldn't hear a word of what you were saying, but from the way Glainne tells it, you did amazingly." He was happy for his sister, though admittedly the stallion was more than a little disappointed that he didn't do much aside from keep guard during this mission.
But it was a success, and that was honestly all that mattered.
He perked his ears up at Roland's statement, the challenge of flying against the other furies to get home sending him into a fit of unwarranted excitement. "We should stop at a tavern and get some drinks or something if we can as well. After this I'm sure that everybody could use a good buzz." Granted, Prid always could use a good buzz. He chuckled at the thought, flapping his wings in slight anticipation. He wanted to get going. "But yes, let's head out?" He worded it as a statement, turning to Glainne in case there were other matters to attend to.
Thunderbirds! He couldn't believe how lucky they were. Alya must have been watching over them today. Post 6 | Word Count: 286

Unity
Well it didnt take much to encourage her to leave this area! "Good work ladies." she remarked flashing a wink to Golgotha, Creo and Glainne. With ease she unfolded her wings and took to the sky returning to the others before moving upwards and smiling all the more. The achieved something, but dread filled her as she could only wonder what this beasts would want in return. They would aid them in the war to come, but at what cost? She prayed they would not be demanding of lives, but perhaps more room space? Unity shook her head, now was not the time to dwell, they did their mission, they would make their herd proud.
Perhaps it was unwise to let a smile drift on her face once more, but they did it, surely they should celebrate. It seemed she wasn't the only one as another brought up the tavern. Oh the things she would do for a tall ale right now. Her mouth watered, oh yes a drink was something that they all wanted. "Last one to the tavern buys the first round." she chuckled as she swooped by Rowin flashing him a soft smile. "Well come on now, I think we deserve a good time after this." she laughed with delight as she raced forwards, they soon they got back, and told the sultan, the sooner the small family could celebrate this small victory.

Rowin's heart rate decreased to something more steady as the mares rejoined the small flock. "Oh man, you all had me worried there." He said and smiled at them, showing off the fangs that poke out the sides of his mouth. They truly were an outstanding group ladies, without them here this mission would have fallen apart. He listened diligently to the break down of what happened. "Its ridiculous that it took the thunder birds so long to get those ideas into their thick skulls." He grumbled, but he didn't let that negative outlook settle.
After all the mares had won the beaked beasts over and they could now go home and report only good news to the Sultan, ah yes he would be very pleased with this information. 'These adhonians don't know what they're in for.' Rowin though deviously. Hearing about how they were headed back hom, and now to a tavern the grin lit up his face yet again. "Better yet, last one back buys the first round." He said and winked to the group before giving a powerful beat of his wings and soaring off after Rowin and Predwin.

The silence didn't ease her worry, maybe the matriarch was considering the offer, maybe she was just trying to figure out what the best way to eat her was. She looked up just long enough to notice the rest of the thunderbirds perched in silence, staring at them, well THAT wasn't scary at all. Looking back down she hoped her words had the proper effect.
Then Gogo opened her mouth and the result almost gave the fury a heart attack.
The resulting squawking from the anger of the thunderbirds realizing that not every equine on the planet feared them would have made a lesser equine bolt in an instant. It took all her self discipline to override her more basic sense of self preservation and not do just that. Glainne eased her fears by saying that the words had the proper affect, and that the Thunderbirds had agreed to help.
"Many thanks matriarch, we look forward to seeing you bring the proper fear and respect from the skies." She stayed still for only the appropriate amount of time before she too, turned tail and took to the skies before she could turn into bird feed. Her black and white wings beat furiously as she kept up with the rest, landing down back on the plateau they'd rested at hours before. She flattened her ears in slight cheek as her twin came up and complimented her diplomacy abilities.
"Thanks Prid, Unity, though, to be honest, I was literally flying blind there." She said with a chuckle. "Sorry you guys weren't able to do much, I don't think any of us knew that Thunderbirds weren't exactly as accepting as the Serorans." She said, looking over to the guys in the group.
She spent the rest of the time in silence on the resting place, calming her nerves before seeing they were ready to head out. At Roland and Rowin's shouts, she let out a loud laugh before racing to catch up.
"LIKE HELL THAT'S ME."
With several long strides she took to the air with her family again, only this time with her characteristic smile back on her face.
Time to go home. Post #5 | Word Count: 361
