Glainne | Serora | Fury There is freedom waiting for you, on the breezes of the sky. And you ask, “What if I fall?” Oh but my darling, what if you fly?
Tensions were rising in Sedo. It looked like war between Aodh and Serora was going to be inevitable. While she didn’t wish for it, Glainne was ready to do anything to protect the herd that was her family. It was what being a Fury meant and she would be prepared. She had expected to be given orders to patrol the skies along Sedo’s northern edge, but instead she had been tasked with leading a group of her fellow Furies to God’s Landing. Her orders had been clear though, her Talent was the main reason she had been picked, she would need it to speak with the Thunderbirds that nested there in order to gain their aid. As young as she was, Glainne still had had one of the best Furies mentoring her through her training and she hoped that what Golgotha had taught her would hold true. It was reassuring though to have her mentor by her side in this mission. To say she was nervous was an understatement, but she kept a firm grip on her control and prayed to Ayla that she would stay strong.
She had lead her fellow Furies south from Osulas to the northern most edge of God’s Landing, flying up through the ever present clouds that shrouded the tops of the plateaus. With the favorable winds and thermals the flight had taken less time than she had hoped, leaving the group plenty of strength and energy to deal with the challenge that faced them. With the territorial nature of the Thunderbirds, their nesting grounds would not be easy to approach. Hopefully Glainne would be able to persuade them to parlay.
For now the group was resting briefly one on of the plateaus, the nesting grounds just within sight. Glainne stood watching the distant shapes of the Thunderbirds, letting her brethren prepare. They were all well trained and had encountered Thunderbirds in the skies across Sedo on several occasions, whether it was through a Rain Dance or chance. She was personally confident in both Golgotha and Thierry, as she had flown and trained beside them. The others she knew of by word of mouth or had flown one or two missions with, her trust in them was strong though.
The bright white flash of Tivy’s wings drew Glainne’s gaze away from the distant Thunderbirds, she had sent her familiar to scout the nesting grounds and she had returned unharmed. The hawk landed between her wings and began to preen her feathers. //Lucky this isn’t nesting season, or this would be more dangerous.// The early days of barely understanding her familiar was gone, and they conversed as easily as she did with her cousin. //Many family groups are here though, most clustered on the southern edge of that plateau. There are a few loaners on the western edge, it might be best to approach from that side.// Glainne looked back at the nesting grounds, while the west side would be ‘safer’ they would need to find whatever leader the Thunderbirds had, if they had one, in order to negotiate some sort of alliance. It was intriguing just how much they didn’t know about the giants they shared the skies with. Well today would certainly be an adventure.

Rowin || Fury || Seroran Stallion
This mission was for the herd. It was to keep those he loved safe, like Ra. It was to keep those he quarreled with safe, like Nero. Though the situation was tense Rowin awoke with the knowledge of knowing that they couldn't fail. Not today. Not ever. Rowin stretched out his legs individually, reaching them as far out as possible and pointing his hoof then moving Onto the next leg. Once his muscles were were warmed up he unfurled his wings and looked over the brown and gold feathering. He gave them a test flap, checking for any loose feathering this morning or any pain in them. Once he decided they were ready he shook his body letting the dirt from the desert come off in a light brown cloud. And then he galloped. He needed a few good strides to help boost himself up. And once he was up and felt the wind in his face, filtering through his over grown roached mane, he didn't want to come down. He felt invincible. As he cruised over the land he spotted his group of fellow furies. He gently sloped his wings down and circle around a few times before landing and then trotting over as he tucked his wings back into place. Now they were resting watching the nesting ground. Absent mindlessly he licked his tongue over the fangs that protruded out of his mouth, apart of his blessing from Cascade, mother of the sea. He wondered what it would be like if things went wrong and if he had to use his blessing. 'No don't think that!' He snapped at himself and banished the thought from his mind. They did not need this uncertainty today. He puffed up his chest and looked at his winged brethren. He knew a few and was excited the work with those he didn't know as well to see what they were capable of. His sky blue eyes drifted over to a familiar face, Roland. He trotted over to his comrade and flashed him a toothy grin. "I'm digging the mane" Rowin teased ever so slightly at the man bun he wore. Though Rowin was big and strong he felt as if the best thing he brought to a team was a cool head and confident attitude. "Ah Unity, you look radiant as ever, how're you?" He asked tipping his head to the side slightly with a smile. He liked to talk to others, gauge how their feeling, see if he could do anything to help. {WC: 426 || Post #1}

1 | 318They had taken to the sky with nothing but orders to find the Thunderbirds and bring them back to aid in the war. After the last tussle Roland had with Thunderbirds, this was not his idea of a good time. However, their leader was one who had the ability to talk to the stormy beasts, so if anything, that helped put his mind at ease. His large leathery wings carried him easily above the clouds as he dipped and rose through the air. He was not one who was able to simply fly in a straight line; no, that was no fun. He took it upon himself to dive between the clouds (and between his fellow furies), just for the sake of feeling the wind through his short hair and hearing it whistle in his ears. There was even a few moments when he found himself upside down, his head flopped down as he stared at those below him with crossed eyes.
Yes, he was taking this perfectly seriously.
When they landed for a rest, his heavy dragon-like tail found the ground with a thud. He tucked his heavily tattooed wings to his side, only to give his coat a shake. Dust poofed up around him like a cloud, only to settle at his hooves. It was then that he heard a familiar voice coming up from behind him, his ears flicking forward as he craned his neck around with a lopsided smirk upon his lips.
Rowin.
While their friendship had used to be more, they were now perfectly happy being just friends; bantering friends, at that. Roland gave the large draft a wink. "Aw, thanks love." He teased before turning back to look toward the nesting grounds. He found himself a little nervous, but the daredevil side in him was quick to take over. If this wasnt going to be fun and exciting, he didnt know what was.

This was probably the best day for flying. It had to be. Predwin was almost certain that he hadn't come across a day better than this in months.
Maybe he was just excited to be out and about with the other furies, taking part in an important mission that could turn the tides, as it seemed that Aodh had decided to go to war with the powerful desert hurt. Maybe he was just in a good mood. Who knew? Not Predwin, he was too excited to be out and enjoying himself.
He probably wasn't taking this seriously enough, but until they came across the thunderbirds, he was going to enjoy every second of this flight.
The winds were perfect for flying, as Predwin took the time to effortlessly flip and glide between clouds while still following the leader of this very important mission. His orange eyes were alert, searching the clouds for any sign of trouble.
Thankfully, it seemed as if everything was going to be fine. Nobody was upset, nobody was in pain, nothing was attacking them....
Life was good.
Quietly the roadrunner pegasus glanced over at the other furies, the banter that had formed between some of them giving the stallion a boost to his already great mood. He chuckled, looking over at his sister with a warm glint in his eye.
"Hey Creo, how's the air feeling for ya?" He called out over the winds, his wings giving a powerful thrust downward for a moment before he continued soaring. He wanted to scream out into the heavens, letting Alya herself know about his enjoyment, but he held it back.
He might not have been taking the mission too seriously, but he wasn't stupid.
That was before he landed down beside the others, wings folding as he came to a sudden skidding stop near the others. By Alya, he had missed this. Post 1 | Word Count: 319

Unity
Landing down with ease,s he eyed her companions with a thankful heart. Honestly, this mission was something else to allow the team to grow closer, and honestly wasn't that something they all needed? When times grew tough, all the really had was each other. And now hopefully some thunder birds. if they all played their cards right. Unity sighed stretching out her legs and body allowing the muscles to tighten and release, so that she wouldn't have to worry about cramps while trying to handle some birds. The last thing she needed was a pulled hamstring and becoming a snack for one of them. She shuddered at the thought, and of course she couldn't die. she did promise Queen, she'd return. So there was that as well. Unity would live of course she would, it was silly to think of Queen fretting over such a thing.
Unity was brought back to the present as Rowin called out to her, she couldn't help but smile all the more. "Oh Rowan you are such the charmer." she teased him with glee. She felt comfortable around these equine, they were as if a family of their own. They had each others back, would gladly defend them in any occasion. Eyes turned to see Roland, and chuckled a bit both of them. So silly, but gods she held them close to her heart. Eyes looked to the leader of the mission. "How are things looking Glainne?" she asked in a gentle voice, her mothering nature shinning out like the bright sun of the sky. Unity looked out to where the thunderbirds laid. To have them on their side would truly gain them the upper hand! How many Aodhians could say they fought these beasts? They all have been trained to defend and still there was a heavy risk for each of them. Unity sighed gently as she looked back over the others. "Ten gold coins, saying Rollands bun falls out in this mission." she chuckled a bit. Unity always placed a small little bet on such things. Something she felt kept moral up as well, as her own spirits. While she shows her confidence on her face, it was no surprise she was her own worst enemy. Struggling with her mind, but she vowed today, she would not let it take her, even with Queen in her tears, Unity refused. Not now, she thought gently, not now.

The wind whipped through her black and white feathers as she flew with her fellow furies through the air towards their goal. Tensions were high back home, but Creosote and her friends seemed to be able to simply leave it all behind the second they took to the air. Today was not much different for the king vulture pegasus as she flew next to her twin. Earlier she'd joined in on the aerial acrobatics, but she wanted to feel the wind just slip through her feathers that it only did when she flew straight.
"Feeling just fine brother!" She called out over the winds, stretching her wings out in their rhythmic beats as she followed the others down to land, dark hooves clacking to the ground the same instant as her brothers as she folded her wings in to her sides. She adjusted the cloth saddlebags that had jostled slightly in their flight, inside were things like food and water, essentials. She wasn't carrying her thunderbird grounding gear this time.
"Ten gold coins, saying Rollands bun falls out in this mission."
Unity's voice joined in the chorus and Creosote looked over towards their dragon winged friend, a mischievous smirk crossed her features as she quickly darted past Roland, using a quick flick of her teke to yank the bun loose. Sliding into a light bouncing trot towards unity she wiggled her eyebrows in a joking flirt.
"You got those ten coins? Or should I ask for something else?" Post #1 | Word Count: 248

golgotha you don't believe in god, i don't believe in luck
Any Fury had a long and storied history with Thunderbirds. Fast, powerful, and potently magic, the huge beasts were Sedo's greatest threat to equine-kind, and their history with the Furies was legend in Osulas and beyond. One wore scars and stories inflicted by the beasts like a badge, the only kind of medal that mattered to the military in Serora.
Even so, as she turned her tongue over her metal teeth, Golgotha couldn't help the notion that her history was a bit longer than most. She'd met the storied birds a number of times, and each encounter brought back memories of the mission that had almost ended her Fury career for good.
She visualized her teammate being struck from the sky every time thunder rumbled. From behind red-tinted flight goggles, she kept an eye on the nesting ground, and the dark clouds gathering beyond it. She didn't know whether or not the damn things could be reasoned with, but she supposed that wasn't her worry anyway. She just had to keep her Furies in the air.
The pegasi swooped and spun in the air, cracking wise through the clouds, and while Golgotha would normally have been the most jolly among them, her lips stayed closed, her gliding steady. She'd spent enough years in the pilot's seat to see exactly what Thunderbirds were capable of; she wasn't afraid, merely focused, remembering all the ways she'd learned to save her own skin from the tyrants that ruled Sedo's skies.
Even so, once the team began to land, it was hard not to show off a little.
As they skidded to earth, hollering and joking, Golgotha brought up the rear of the formation in fantastic style. Her heavy tail swung as a counterweight, she flung her leathery wings forward, reaching earthward with her haunches. Air snapped loudly with the motion, and she dropped onto her hind hooves with an earth-shaking thud.
She shook the condensation of altitude from her woolly mane, giving Creosote a sly sideways grin. "Five shards says Roland isn't letting you near him for the rest of the day," she boomed over to the others, looking over the plateau with a guffaw.
Her eyes found Glainne, and she smiled. The young mare was really finding her wings lately, enough that she had been placed in charge of this vital mission. Golgotha gave her a reassuring nod, proud to be flying under Glainne's command. "What's next, boss?" post 1 | 402 words

2 | 287Deep in thought, Roland didnt process the conversation going on behind him. His ears pricked at the sound of his name, his lips pressed together and confusion crossing his features as he turned to glance at his muttering teammates. However, just as he did so, he felt a blast of wind against his coat and suddenly, his messy hair that was usually tied up, was now laying against his neck. His brow furrowed as he whipped his head back around, watching Creosote bounce toward Unity with a playful smirk.
He opened his mouth to respond, but was interrupted by a rather irritated Harris Hawk. Roland had forgotten that his sleeping companion was nestled into his hair against his neck. He winced as the bird screeched in protest right in his ear, his feathers ruffling before he glided down to stand on the ground beside the roan stallion.
"Shut up, bird, you're not the one being violated." Roland scoffed, tapping the hawk with his hoof as he pulled his hair back into its messy bun with the soft green glow of his telekinesis.
He turned his gaze back to Unity and Creosote, a lopsided smirk present on his lips. "And you two.." He started with a snort, pulling a strand of hair tight on his bun before releasing it. "Im offering you as sacrifices to the Thunderbirds." His ears flicked as Golgotha chimed in, giving her a nod. She sure had that right.
Flicking his wings against his side, the stallion wandered up behind the small group that had gathered around Glainne, Harrison bouncing after him before fluttering up to sit back on his withers. Roland listened patiently, waiting to hear the gameplan. He was ready to go.

Thierry | Serora | Fury
Lift me up above this The flames and the ashes Lift me up and help me to fly away
He was nervous. His ears twitched back and forth to notice every small noise around him. For now he could only hear the wind whistle and the talking of his fellow furies around him. It was his first mission since they promoted him into the rank of a Fury, and it was by no means an easy one.
There was a tension in the air that every single horse in Sedo could feel. Dark words and rumors spoke of a war and that they were send out to seek an alliance with the thunderbirds could just mean that it was all too real. Thierry was by far the youngest and inexperienced member of the group, and so he was glad that his cousin and mentor were both around him.
The young pony looked around for a moment and took a glance at everyone. He barely knew most of them, but they all shared a determined expression on their faces. Everything would be alright. They would return with the Thunderbirds. They just had too. His cousin had been chosen to lead the group, not only because she was a skillful fury, but because her talent to understand and communicate with animals. Right now she seemed to be in the middle of a conversation with her familiar.
The older furies around him started teasing each other and Thierry wished he could be as relaxed as them. He fidgeted nervously from one leg to the other and whenever his hooves hit the ground small electricity sparks occurred. His mother's prayers had bestowed him with a blessing that he was still unable to control properly.
The white pegasus instinctively turned his attention to Golgotha’s voice when she started to speak. A slight smile spread over his face when she addressed her words to Glainne, asking what they would do next. Thierry also was curious, he wanted the mission to start for patience was none of his noteworthy strengths.

Rowin || Fury || Seroran Stallion Rowin laughed hearing Roland's comment. He let his shoulder bump against the roan's as he smiled at him. Hearing Unity reply he looked to her and her beautiful chestnuty coat. He listened to her eagerly and couldn't help but snort at her proposition "you know what, I'll take that bet!" He said siding with the idea that Roland mane wouldn't come undone from the man bun. "He puts quite a bit of work into his mane everyday, it's wrapped tighter than an aodhnian's corset." He teased his friend once again. As the Gogoltha trotted in to join their fun he couldn't help but chuckle at what they brought to the table. Creostone and her whit, Golgotha and her booming bet. Hearing Roland speak again Rowin looked to him. As his man bun fell from place Rowin made a over reacting gasp sound. "My gods." He whispered with false horror. The horror quickly fell back into a grin. "I've got a feeling I'll be broke by the end of this mission." As everyone got ready for the second part of the mission Rowin turned and faced Glainne. His face changed as he looked to her, becoming more hard set, focused, but his lips were still tugging upwards and that mischievous glint in his eyes were still there. {WC: 220 || Post #2}

Glainne | Serora | Fury There is freedom waiting for you, on the breezes of the sky. And you ask, “What if I fall?” Oh but my darling, what if you fly?
The amusing banter going on behind her had Glainne smiling as she looked to where the Thunderbirds nested. It was a good sign that everyone was getting along so well. “Things are looking promising,” she said to Unity as the mare stopped by her before calling out a bet on Roland’s bun. She glanced over at the tattooed stallion and she smiled, she’d had a crush on him since she had first met him. Then again he was charismatic and handsome, so it was easy to like him. She bit back a laugh as Creo leapt over and tugged Roland’s bun out. She then laughed at Golgotha’s counter bet, she relaxed a little.
With the playful teasing helping to relax the group, Glainne felt they were ready for heading towards the nesting ground. With everyone looking at her for what her orders would be, “We’ll be approaching the nesting grounds from the west, there are only a few Thunderbirds on that side and it will give me a chance to speak with one without us being outnumbered.” She fluffed her wings a little and turned to the edge. “If everyone’s ready let’s get going.” Tivy moved from her shoulders, leaping into the air before Glainne used the ledge she was standing on as a jumping point for her own flight. She circled a little to give her fellow Furies time to get into the air. When they were all with her, she led the way along the edge of the nesting grounds to the western edge where the solitary Tunderbirds were.
“Give me a chance to talk with them but be prepared for things to go pear shaped.” She called back to them before gliding down to the ground near where one lone Thunderbird was nested. With confidence in her step, she walked to talking distance and called out, “I wish to speak with you, Thunderbird.”

Unity
Laughter erupted from her lips at Rowans comment about uptight aodhian's corset. "Oh Rowan." she laughed out breathy like once she settled in from her laughing, though she eyed the others as they took in the bet, Unity was eager to make a bit of gold, even though the money they all spent on bets really only belonged to all of them. None becoming much richer then other. With her attention elsewhere for the second, she nearly missed Creo getting Rolland's manbun undone and she snorted with delight, and smirked all the more as the mare came bounding her way, with that smile she loved all to much. "Well well well, let me think here." she grinned with a sway of her hip. "One gold coin for you cheat." she teased Creo and happily tossed her a gold coin. "Can't be losing all my money when more bets are to be had hmm?" she purred out to Creo, before the sound of a screaming bird filled the air. "My gods Roland, are you sure you got that bird tamed?" she laughed as she watched Roland try to deal wiht the manless bun, and screaming bird. Yet a smirk was on her lips as he offered her up as one of the sacrifices for the birds. Things never change.
Attention turned to Golg and chuckled all the more. "Sadly I don't think Roland would want us to stay to far away from us." she nudged Creo playfully, before sending a wink to Roland. "If I didn't tease you, how would you know I love you?" she grinned all the more. It felt good to be out here with everyone, to get in a few more laughs before everything was turned back into the mission. When ever second was all that mattered. Eyes landed to the small pegasi, and she offered a smile to Thierry. "You'll do great, and we have each others back no need to fret." she remarked as she went and stood next to them. Offering a kind smile. "In no time, you'll be making you own wonderful bets, and be poor just like use." she chuckled a bit. Hoping the lighter mood would help them relax, but she to remembers being young and so nervous her first few times out. But even know she was nervous, but it was easier to hide, easier to focus on the task at hand.
Glainne spoke and it seemed as if everything went still for a moment as she spoke of what was to come. Here they go, the big moment they all were waiting for. Without a moment to spare, Glainne was up and flying towards the new destination. Unity eyed her team with a bright smile, eager to get things rolling. "First one to loose a feather pays out a gold coin." she grins at them flashing a winks, before she suddenly dives off the edge and into the air. Following after Glainne with steady flaps of her wings. Once into the new area, Glainne commented on how she would be going out to them. brave soul. she thought. But she understood their role. To be lookout and if things became a mess, they woudl dive in there to buy Glainne time to escape. Lets hope feathers would be the only thing they could lose today.

"Oh, I'm sure we'll all owe each other a drink by the end of this..." Predwin couldn't help but chime in, a snort escaping his lips as he turned back towards his sister. "Which, can I say, with a group as amazing as this, isn't by any means a bad thing." He winked at Unity, turning to look at Roland before taking note that the other dragon winged pegasus had mentioned that they were ready to follow Glainne's lead. Predwin nodded. He was more than ready for the mission at hand.
Thunderbirds! He couldn't believe that the group of them were going to be recruiting the creatures for a fight. He couldn't help but wonder why Serora hadn't considered doing something like this before, but the thought was cut short relatively easily, as it seemed that Unity was indeed willing to pay out what was owed to those that won her bets.... even if they were cheaters.
Well, two could play at that game. With a light snicker, the stallion trotted up alongside his sister, gently yanking out one of the feathers she kept in her hair -- one of his own, to be exact -- and tossed it down at Unity's hooves.
"There ya go!" He exclaimed with a mischievous glint in his eye. "Creo was the first one to lose a feather."
By the gods, he could do this stuff all day. Never had he ever felt more at home than when he was out on a mission with his fellow furies, if only because they group of them were such a close bunch.
They were the best. There was no getting around that.
Yet, most of Prid's playfulness was stripped away when his fearless leader began to give instructions to the group; her explanation as to what was going down simple yet clear. She was to speak to the thunderbirds and they were to be careful... Well, not careful, but at least prepared.
Prid grinned. He was an improvisionist. If he wasn't prepared, he'd come up with a plan on the fly. It was just how he worked, but he nodded anyway. He was ready to get going; ready to make the best of this mission. There was nothing he wanted more than success.
If it was to come to war with Aodh, he wanted to be more than ready to fight... and if the thunderbirds gave him an advantage... well...
Serora would do what it had to to protect those that lived within its boundaries. Post 2 | Word Count: 418

Malaika
A high screech went through the flock as an unknown voice called out, setting off alarm around the group of predators. A horse, horses, so close to their nesting grounds? They were suddenly abuzz, screeching and whispering, alarmed and angry. And then another loud screech was heard followed by the crackle of lightening, making the thunderbirds around fall quiet all at once. A shadow rose up in the sky and fell down from it again, landing before the horses who had intruded upon territory that was not theirs.
"How dare you sneak up on my sisters?! What fools thread upon our sacred land?"
It was another thunderbird, big and strong, who peered down at them with angry eyes, seething at their disregard. How dare they? Normally all who lived in these lands knew better than to approach the piece of land they held as their haven, the place where they touched the ground to rest and raise their children. It was a quiet understanding they had with the other inhabitants of this land. Quiet, but there nonetheless. Even the horses of Serora who dared antagonize them now and again, even they knew this. Knew this was not where one should set hoof or foot. It was why they didn't bother for sentries. Who in their right mind would intrude upon them after all? And yet here they were, calling out to one of her sisters like it was a normal thing to do. Rage burned in her eyes, rage directed at the equines below. Malaika was angry and they best started talking soon.
"State your business. Now."

Rowin || Fury || Seroran Stallion Rowin couldn't help but chuckle as Unity commented about Rowin's bird. But then again he was back to attention as he looked at Glainne. He listened to her words and grinned, "We'll be right behind you." He said as he opened up his massive golden eagle like wings and gave a hard flap. It took him a few steps of a lope to spring into the air and fly. Once he was up he didn't want to some down. He took up the rear of the flock, he liked to have an eye on everyone in front of him. As they approached the nest Rowin watched as Galinne smoothly glided down to the earth and landed softly then began to speak. Rowin took this moment to pray to cascade 'Mother of the seas and rivers, please let this go well.'. As the birds began shrieking in warning for one another Rowin winced. "Shit." He muttered, eyebrows furrowing as he watched them all squawk and cry. But his faith in the little mare on the ground did not waver, 'Smooth it over now..' he mentally thought wishing he could call down to her to see if she needed any help from the rest of the flock. {WC: 206 || Post #3}

3 | 208The stallion smirked at Unity's comment, sending her a wink back before sticking his tongue out at her playfully. He didnt know what he would do without his friends in the group; this job would be certainly be boring, that was for sure. He glanced down at Harrison as the bird flapped at his hooves, rolling his eyes. "He's tame. Hes just not smart." He chuckled before scooping up the ball of feathers and place him back on his withers.
One by one, the pegasi leapt into the air, headed straight toward the Thunderbirds' nesting grounds. Roland stuck close to the group, his wings large enough to let him glide without much work. His eyes scanned the grounds carefully, ready to defend himself if needed. It felt so strange to be going straight toward the enemy for help.. it made his skin crawl, actually.
He watched as Glainne glided down to speak, flinching as the large bird let out an ear-splitting screech. He knew Glainne could speak to them so she was hearing actual words, but that thought didnt stop him from getting a little nervous. The bird sounded angry, and if Roland knew one thing, it was that Thunderbirds were not to be messed with when angry.

Creo stuck her tounge out in a tease as she caught the gold coin.
"It's not cheating, you didn't say how his bun had to come out." She winked slyly before turning her tounge wiggling onto Roland.
"You'd have to catch me first!"
She barely caught Unity's next bet before her twin came up and yanked out one of his feathers she had woven into her roached mane. Out came the tounge again as she blew Prid a raspberry and bumped into his shoulder.
"No fair you tease." She said to him before tossing Unity her coin back with a wink. Then she fixed the feather her brother had so graciously pulled out back into her mane.
Gianne had given orders for them to move out, to say Creo's feet left the ground instantly to follow would be an understatement. As the squad approached the nesting grounds, Creo dropped into a circling glide, buzzard wings taking the pressure off her muscles as the feathers caught the updrafts. In a poised and focused silence she watched her friend go to work, body ready to take whatever action was next needed. Subconsciously, she found herself sending out a prayer to Ayla to ensure that this all went well. Post #2 | Word Count: 206

The snort that escaped Prid's nostrils as his sister bumped into him was loud and full of energy, bubbling up from the depths of his belly to turn into a hearty laugh as his twin tossed the coin she had just earned back at Unity, even though he had properly been the one to win the bet.
He didn't bother saying anything about it as he continued his merry chuckle, the laughter from earlier slowing down into simple snickers before it became obvious that it was time to somber up and prep for the real mission. He had already taken note of his leader's instruction and was prepping for take off when the others followed suit. He jumped up, using his wings to manipulate the air as he tried to keep up with the others. His roadrunner wings, while capable and well trained, were not always the most capable of wings around.
He didn't mind it though, the extra challenge had always pushed him further, and just like any other day, this was no different. As the others began circling over head, moving about to keep an eye on Glainne, Predwin watched the horizons, knowing full well that they were in the belly of the beast.
That was when he noticed a relatively large thunderbird come from what seemed to be the heart of the nesting grounds. He felt his heart lurch for just a moment. "By Alya's wings..." He breathed.
He had to admit, it was terrifying to see a creature like this up close... especially since none of the furies had ever tried peacefully speaking with a thunderbird before.
And for a moment, he was terrified. Post 3 | Word Count: 276

golgotha you don't believe in god, i don't believe in luck
Golgotha watched the cavorting and roughhousing with a booming laugh, moving around on the plateau among her fellow Furies. Her eyes moved over them fondly, stopping on Thierry, who seemed to be stalled with hesitation. She gave the smallest Fury a gentle nudge with her nose as she walked past, a gesture of affection and support, but also urging him into the group. It was one of Thierry's first missions, Golgotha knew, but she wanted him to know this was where he belonged. He was a Fury. These were his people, too.
She gave him a grin, showing her sharp metal teeth, and walked on.
Golgotha's bravado was never false, but she was admittedly acting a bit more positive than she felt. She'd never had a close encounter with a Thunderbird that hadn't gone at least a little sideways, but as the most senior soldier on the mission, she couldnt show any doubts to her fellows. She wore her full Fury regalia today: red flight goggles, gold teeth, a vest of saddlebags and her trusty boomerang strapped to her wide chest. It projected an important preparedness. Before she'd left the farm, she and Ariel had painted each other's faces.
Stripes of bright yellow streaked her cheeks as bold warpaint, and the pattern was repeated across her leather wings. Ariel had completed an ornate draconian pattern across his face, decorated for his meeting with the Mullah. The paint gave them courage. It was going to be a harrowing day for them both.
Golgotha couldnt help but smile at Unity's new wager. "Glad I won't be part of that one," she joked, giving her scaly wings a flap. No feathers for her to lose.
As the group organized, Golgotha watched Glainne with pride, nodding as the young soldier gave out commands and moving to follow her with reassuring strength. Golgotha didn't frequently throw her enormous size around among friends, but she stood at her full height now, painted wings braced hugely out from her sides. She couldn't do Glainne's work for her, but she could give Glainne the courage of having a dragon at her back.
Golgotha's hair was blown back by the force of the huge creature's wings, and her smile vanished as its horrible voice scraped the air between them like a bullwhip. It almost stank up close, of meat and dust, and Golgotha flared her nostrils as she lifted her chin, silent in the face of the monster. post 2 | 408 words

Thierry | Serora | Fury
Lift me up above this The flames and the ashes Lift me up and help me to fly away
He was still trying to follow the conversation between his fellow furies. Most of them seemed to know each other rather well and it was great to see how easy they pass the ball to one another and he hoped that he would soon be a real part of their community.
The small stallion raised his head slightly to look up to the mare that suddenly stood beside him. Her words conjured a smile upon his face, before he looked back to the rest of the group. “I can’t wait for that time to come” he replied amused and soon his gaze wandered back to the dark chestnut pegasus. “Thank you...Unity.” His words were genuine and he only paused mid sentence because he had tried to remember her name. Glainne and Golgotha had told him all the names of the group members, but due to his excitement he had already forgotten some of them and now prayed that he used the right one for her.
Then the earth trembled hardly noticeable, something Thierry had experienced many times before, and so he knew that Golgotha was nearing even before he could see her. The nudge she gave him was more gentle then some would expect from a huge equine like her, but Thierry remembered the first time she did it. At those time they both had to learn certain things. And his mentor had learned that day that she needed to be careful doing that. He had been even smaller than today and simply fell over when her muzzle hit him. Since then a lot of things had changed, and so he just nodded in reply, a determined expression on his face and sparks beneath his hooves. Thierry followed her unspoken invitation to walk closer to the group and took his place among them.
Next he watched his cousin walked towards one of the thunderbirds and he admired her courage. There was no guarantee that the massive creature would approachable for her words, it could get aggressive in the matter of a second. And so he tightened his telekinetic grip around his throwing stars, ready to aid Glainne if necessary. Hopefully it wouldn’t.
The screech of the flock went through all his bones and made his hair stood on end. When one of the birds landed right before the group of furies, amidst the crackle of lightning, the small stallion had to force himself to keep standing where he was. It was terrifying, being so close to a whole group of thunderbirds but he was well aware of his fellow furies around him. They bestowed courage upon him, and so he waited, silently to not disturb Glainnes concentration.

Glainne | Serora | Fury There is freedom waiting for you, on the breezes of the sky. And you ask, “What if I fall?” Oh but my darling, what if you fly?
Glainne barely noticed where her fellow Furies placed themselves in the sky and behind her. She had her full concentration on the enormous Thunderbird that landed so close before her. She felt her feathers along her back rise a little in her nerves but she held firm. To her companions, the shrieks of the Thunderbird were just noises, but to her she could hear the words that were spoken. She would have to choose her own words very carefully if she was to not further enrage this huge predator before her. Tivy was a fluffed ball of white feathers between her wings, bright red eyes glaring up at the Thunderbird before them.
“Apologies, Winged One, we did not mean to sneak up on your sisters,” She called out her voice not showing any of her nerves, politeness never went astray her mother always said, “We Furies would not be here if there was not of utmost importance that we speak.” She carefully thought on each word that came from her mouth, keep things to the point, no need to test the Thunderbird’s patience, “War threatens our home, a northern herd prepares to march on the lands that you fly over. They wish revenge over our refusal to enslave wanderers for them. They hold no respect for our ways and would hold no respect for the understanding that my herd has for you.” Maybe a stretch but it was clear the Aodh didn’t understand how their demands had affected the herd.
She paused to take a breath, now time for the proposition. “We cannot fight them on our own, their numbers far outweigh what we can muster, with their slaves, their allies, and their fighters. We are here to ask for your help. To ask that you fight with us when the war comes.” There, she now could only wait to see how the Thunderbird before her reacted. If there was acceptance there would be terms, she only hoped that they wouldn’t involve a sacrifice to great.

Unity
Unity was happy to see Thierry smile back, to see Golgotha nudge him. It made her heart warm, it made her know this mission would not fail. Unity could not ask for a better team, this was her family. A tight knit group of fliers that knew how to laugh and have a good time, but also know when its time to riot and storm the air. With war on the horizon, Unity kept her gaze steady as she looked to the her leader and the Thunderbirds. The cry of one, made her body tense, and her eyes instantly flickering to Golgotha, she was well adverse in this rank, carrying knowledge and experience upon her shoulders. Looking to her, Unity tried to feel what needed be done. The sudden stillness of the birds and Glainne made her nervous. It seemed Golgotha was in no rush to move. So Unity remained still and ever watching. The wrong move could make it seem the birds were under attack themselves, but if the birds would not listen, and tried to attack, well so long to standing on the side lines. Purple hued eyes took in her teammates watching them closely, making sure all knew now was not the time to attack or move. It was time to be still as the sand int he desert, the calm before the storm, she liked to think. Unity of course prayed to Alya that she would be merciful and allow this to go well, but if anything she prayed they all could go home safely today. That would be enough for her. " I wish I knew what the thunderbirds were saying." she remarked so softly her words could be lost in the wind, she was curious of course, wanting to know what was spoken by the bird. Hoping it would be nothing to terrible. She could only imagine the bird explaining the best way they all would pick them apart for being on their sacred grounds. Gods be good, Unity stop thinking she thought mentally to herself, already feeling that sickening feeling she tried so hard to hide start grow. Not now, she thought. Post 3 WC|| 358

Malaika | Thunderbird matriarch
A sharp sound escaped Malaika. To others it would not be more than a raw call, a hostile sounding one at that. To her own however it would be recognized as a laugh, hollow and sharp, mocking the words spoken to her with unbelief. "Respect? Understanding?" She raised her beak into the air, clapping it open and closed again once, a show of agitation. "You have nerve talking in such way. To talk such way to me, Malaika. How dare you insult me as matriarch with such false statements? You who would drive my sisters to bend to your will. You who even in this moment lack respect by showing up near our nests. You who bring your petty males before me to converse on equal grounds." Her voice climbed in tone as she showed her indignation. The mere thought of these equines not only trespassing, but also brining their inferiors along like this was scandalous. She spat the word ‘males’ as if it were a piece of infected meat that even the flies wouldn’t touch. A wave of agreeing noisess rose up behind her, unkind names being called towards the intrudors before they fell quiet as the spoke again.
"Go ahead, trickster tongue. Go ahead. Kill eachother. Why would we care about what happens to you?"

Quietly the stallion flew above, feeling more and more uncertain about what was going on below. If he had head Unity over the wind, he would have agreed... it would have been nice to understand exactly what was being said between Glainne and the... mother? matriarch? patriarch?
Predwin was never good at giving animals a gender, especially ones that he was used to fighting. All he knew was that this bird was much bigger than he had anticipated... and it did not seem to be all to pleased with them coming all this way.
At least, he was pretty sure the creature was acting hostile. The pegasus gulped, feeling on edge as he looked at the others, his wings beating rhythmically as he watched and waited. He was still terrified, he'd be stupid not to be, but that didn't stop him from preparing for the worst.
They were some of the best flying fighters Serora had ever seen, and if it came to a fight, Predwin was more than willing to sacrifice it all to keep the others safe. These pegasus were his family, his life, and by all intents his true love in life. If anything happened to them, he wouldn't forgive himself.
So, he watched with baited breath alongside the others. Maybe Glainne could salvage this...
Their homes and livelihood depended on it. Post 4 | Word Count: 225

Glainne | Serora | Fury There is freedom waiting for you, on the breezes of the sky. And you ask, “What if I fall?” Oh but my darling, what if you fly?
Oh this was not going how she had hoped. It has extremely difficult for the young mare to stand firmly before the Thunderbird, as Malaika began to shriek insults at her. Instincts were telling her to retreat and regroup, but she knew if they were to leave the Nesting Grounds now, they would never get a chance to return. So she stood, wings slightly flared with feathers rising and falling with her mixed emotions. Along with the fear, anger welled up. Petty males? Trickster Tongue? Insulting with false statements? She really wanted to give this Matriarch a piece of her mind but Glainne was trying to be diplomatic.
Not daring to take her gaze from the Matriarch she did call back to her fellows, “It seems to be that Thunderbirds have little respect for males, and that Matriarch Malaika believes that the Aodh are of no threat to her ‘sisters’.” She knew that the large Thunderbird could still understand what she said, “Apparently the Matriarch can’t understand how important our equality is to us in such a harsh land, how our traditions keep their Nesting Grounds protected from reprisals, or how we revere her ‘sisters’ as bringers of rain. She also believes we seek to bend her sisters to our will, instead using our flight to distract them from attacking those we give our lives to protect. Have we ever sought out Thunderbirds in a malicious hunt?” She paused for a moment to let her fellow Furies reply to her, “Should I mention to her that the Aodh will bring their dragons? There is the news from the north that they found full sized ancients from the God’s War slumbering beneath their city. There is no doubt that they will bring those beasts to the War. I guess the Thunderbirds don’t care if ‘their’ skies and roosts are burned by that fire.” She paused once more, wanting to get a little help from her fellow Furies in the attempt to salvage this.

Things quickly went south, as their fellow fury's words were met with angry squawks from the massive thunderbird. As Glainne called them down to explain Creosote deftly landed down with a few flaps of black and white wings. In an uncharacteristic silence she listened to what her friend had to say.
"No, Predwin and I haven't been on a malicious hunt for thunderbirds in all our four years experience. It's only to deter them from eating our herdmates or lead them to where we need rain brought." She said, tail feathers twitching in contemplation. As her mind worked and worked she used one ear to listen to what Glainne asked for help with. Shuffling her two front hooves in the dusty ground she looked about before taking a deep breath.
"Glainne, I'm going to try something. If you could be my translator that'd be best." Turning to face her squadmates she called out.
"Predwin, Rowin, Roland, Thierry! You heard Glainne, they don't respect males, while I'm speaking I want you guys at a respectable distance, if you don't mind."
Turning back, she ruffled up her feathers and smoothed them out as she inhaled deeply and exhaled slowly. She wasn't exactly a diplomat, but she knew how to fluff an equines pride. Maybe this would work on the thunderbirds too...
She stepped forward, to where Glainne had been standing and made brief eye contact with the matriarch before lowering her gaze and her head in a bow, spreading her wings out to aid in the gesture. This left her vulnerable, she knew that, but she knew that animals often did that to show they meant no harm. As her heart pounded in her chest, she began.
"Mighty matriarch of the thunderbirds, please, forgive our intrusion. We know of your sacred grounds, and that we are not to step hoof here on pain of death, but these are desperate times. My companion has already told you of the impending threat to us equine, the herd of Adoh. They are vast in number and vicious in their fights, and they do not know of the high respect and honor we place upon you mighty creatures. To them, you will be no more than a fancy avian to line their frivolous garments with, they do not know you as we do. They would not hesitate to march up to your breeding grounds despite your might, and try to tame you and force you into subservience. To us serorans, you are nothing short of awe-inspiring, we see you as beings that are closer to Ayla than even us pegasi, and you are respected. They will not just bring their equine that we know you would be able to dispatch without a second thought, but they will bring their dragons. These dragons are great beasts of war, ancient in their destruction, and wielders of fire in their very breath. Dragons are nothing but beasts of instinct and they would come for your young, and I cannot fathom the danger they pose to you.
Us furies do not come to you lightly, we knew of the intrusion we would make this day, and for that we are sorry. We come simply as messengers, and to humbly ask for your aid. If not for us, then for your young, and for your mighty future as Sedo Thunderbirds."
Her heart pounded as she finished, and though she wished to look up into her eyes, she did not.
Hopefully this would sit better with the matriarch. Post #3 | Word Count: 586

Unity
Eyes looked at the scene unfold and she wondered what was going on, and it seemed Glainne had allowed them some insight. So the thunderbirds do not want to help not yet... The mere thought ruffled her feathers. Have those birds became so blind as to what would happen in war? The war makes slaves out of all of them. If Serora did not win, they all would pay the price, whether it was with their life or slaved. Creosote was the first to speak, and Unity was nodding along. The thunderbirds had to understand what was going to happen. This was something that could not just be pushed away or ignored. No, this had to be dealt with head one.
"How about we inform the thunderbirds of how Aodhians truly are? How this war began with their need for lives, always so greedy. How when aodhians come to Serora they will burn down everything. They will make this place and wasteland and with everything dead, what would the thunderbirds do then? Do they truly think they can escape the war? No, we all know the Aodhians, they will not be kind, they will trap and capture or kill every single one of them. They will cage the babies and tame them. they will take away the glory that was a thunderbird and soont he legacy of thunderbirds will be like a myth of kirins. Where none would even know if they were something of legends. Out here you all are legends, you are free we have a mutual respect for each other. We are asking as allies, as horses that understand you far better then Aodhians that would cage you all within a heartbeat and sell in the markets. We are need aid, and if they refuse, I hope the Aodhians find mercy on their souls." she remarked cooly, but could feel the heat within her voice. Did they truly not understand what would happen to them? These large birds would be captured and killed, Aodhians would wear their feathers like prizes and their skulls would be in the keep in the kingdom to remind them everything fire touches die.
Unity snorted and made her peace with what has been said so far. If the thunderbirds are truly so ignorant, she only hopes that would help them all survive with the war comes. Unity shook her head lightly as she nestled her feathered wings deeply into her side. Eyes glanced at the other wondering if any would speak up as well. Have something else to add?

Malaika | Thunderbird matriarch
Malaika felt her feathers rise in offense. These stupid equines, talking like she was not right there to hear them. “Translate, translate?!” She shook her head in annoyance, turning to glare at Glainne in particular with one red eye. “Tell your kind I can understand them quite well, trickster tongue. What do they take me and my sisters for?! Just because I wish not to speak your rotten tongue, does not mean I’m ignorant to its meaning.”
She shook her feathers, blinking slowly as she considered the arguments that had been passed around. Dragons. Had they not long gone extinct? Even in her flock such tales were passed down from an age before time. Her head turned the other side and another red eye stared at the last two furries to have spoken. At least one had the good grace to demand respect of the males as they so deserved. “You speak of fire,” she said, “I would not see our homeland burned, yet, I nor my sisters care for the fates of those who keep denying their wrong doings. You consider it respectful to assault my sisters during our flight? I should eat you for your insolence!”
She raised her wings and beat them a few times, showing her anger. Many thunderbirds followed her example. Once she settled down, she hissed: “Tell me, what would you offer for such truce?” And truce was all she would be willing to offer. The only one that flew above a thunderbird was Alya. Any other creature was beneath them for them to feed on or to be worshipped by.

Ash on the wind. She thought as the matriarch beat her wings and screeched again in anger. When Glainne translated what had been screeched back, Creo swallowed nervously. However, there was a small grain of relief, they were talking of help.
"Forgive me matriarch, I did not mean to imply you do not understand us, you are quite intelligent. I am unfortunately, not gifted the way you or my friend are, I only understand mine own tongue."
Pausing for a brief moment she continued
"We understand that our past actions do not sit well with your kind. Perhaps during our truce we can find more suitable relations for the both of our peoples."
Another pause as she thought of the matriarch's question.
"As for what we offer, we could offer you tributes of food, more places where we will not tread so you may fly without us pegasi in your way. Perhaps other things that I cannot think of currently might pique your mighty interest, our sultan is a generous equine."
A thought struck her.
"I can however, promise you or your magnificent sisters would have no shortage of easy equine food if you were willing to fight the Adoh, they are quite numerous, and do not know how to fight in the lands of the great Ayla."
The idea was a little messed up, but she was no stranger to the Thunderbirds taste for equine flesh. Post #4 | Word Count: 237
