Because the group is so large, the captured horses have been detained at Magmire, a little town between the Hissing Plains and Oriel. It's a long hike, but the opportunity oozes gold. The trio set out a week ago with their wagons and personal slaves, with no idea that as they arrive in the little hamlet, tragedy has struck on the other side of their continent. Location:: Magmire, a small village between the Hissing Wastes and Oriel. It is quaint and largely unpopulated. The sixty-four slaves are bridled in six cramped wooden cages. Time of Day: Noon

Deidra
Well she never expected for herself to be here. In this little... "quaint" town. In all honesty she assumed her business would take a large hit do to her issues in court. Luckily for her, it seemed gold could speak a language everyone knew. So there went that, and it seemed it was all but forgotten. Deidra could almost smirk at the thought, especially after seeing one little zebra try his hardest to assume they'd have jail time if not worse. But it was all a reminder, the king was a child and knew nothing. Absolutely nothing, the fucking nitwit. Deidra shook her head a bit, so why exactly was she here? Well it seemed luck would be on her side once more, it seemed the Old Lion, many knew as Lionel, had a little tidbit for her. To venture out to this little shack of a town to get some slaves. Deidra was unsure if it was a tip, or a hint that she should fucking leave town and not come back after her court scandal. But standing now where she was, it was well worth the risk.
Magmire was here, and so were all the slaves. Dedira allowed herself a small smirk there. "Well it looks like we are finally here." she remarked to her comrades. Those that also have found out about this little Vagabond gold mine. Lucky for them all, there was plenty to take home, and this time Deidra was not going home empty handed. Not after spending a week traveling out here. It was not fun, but good thing Deidra brought her ever so reliable pack mule. Roulette. Her pitfighter, due to her issue with chevaliers and such, Deidra wasn't going to be going anywhere without a little muscle, and it did Roulette some good to be out here. While he assumed it was punishment, Deidra made sure he knew it truly was. Deidra would have preferred her own personal slave Hellion, but Roulette had a mouth, and this was a nice way to exhaust him out.
Deidra walked up causally, as she on the edge of town, and even then she could see the cages that were filled to the brim with Vagabonds. Oh gods be good, she was ready to earn some extra coin. Turning her head she eyed her ever reliable pack mule, as he pulled the cart as well as any other cargo they needed. Such as food, water, and hell Deidra was in a giving mood, and even allowed some of the other slavers to drop off stuff in the cart if need be. Much to Roulette's disgust, show him what having a big mouth can do. "Im already sick of this place, lets see what we can get." she muttered out loud.

MILAN The decision to set out on this journey had been a heat of the moment thing. The opportunity had presented itself, and once he learned that other slave traders would be going as well, he figured that it would probably be safe enough. He had asked his slave for an opinion if this type of trip would be a good thing, and after Bale had not only agreed, but also encouraged this little expedition, their plans had been set. With Bale dressed in armor and carrying a sword, he felt safe, and while the walking was exhausting for someone not used to it, he enjoyed spending time with his slave. Bale did pull a small cart, but otherwise the slave was bitless and ready.
Milan didn’t actually that much care for the Vagabond slaves – the money sounded good but he lived comfortably enough that just money would not have motivated him to walk for a week. No, he was here mostly for the experience, as sappy as that sounded. He had never been outside New Valore, and although it seemed Aodh was largely woods and swamps, it was still rather magical to see it all for the first time. He was previously familiar with Deidra and Alyx mostly through their shared profession, and on the journey he had engaged in some friendly small talk without getting too familiar. Both of them were older than he was, and Deidra had brought her own slave along as a pack mule.
Milan was almost surprised when Deidra announced their arrival at Magmire. The town did not look like much, but the cages filled to the brim with Vagabonds were noticeable enough. He felt conflicted about it – he had never been to the source like this, and the cages looked far too small to house this many equines comfortably. The dark stallion eyed Deidra, but nodded his agreement. “Sure. I’m sure we can have our pick of them”, he replied, eyeing the surroundings more carefully. It seemed safe enough, but he would be keeping Bale close.
As far as the Vagabonds went, he would be happy enough to take some of the smaller and more harmless ones. He wasn’t hugely picky, and training pit fighters was not his expertise anyway.

Truth be told, Bale hadn't really expected he and Milan would be crossing city borders. As the chance to go was presented to him, he had felt a spark of eagerness, a chance to see the wilder areas and stretch his legs. While he now called New Valore his home, traveling was in his blood. While the huge herd of Vagabonds to haul did sound a bit... much, Bale trusted his skills to keep Milan safe. Nothing else mattered to him, really, as he wasn't one to advocate for slavery, especially captured slaves.
He was in full armor, and while it was heavy due to being full plate, it was also custom made to fit him like a well-tailored glove, allowing for freedom of movement. It glistened in sunlight, silver and gold, and his golden, dragon decorated sword was at the ready too. He easily pulled a cart behind him, one that could be detached from him in a single swing of a sword if need be. He had made sure of that. He had been on the lookout for any sign of danger the whole way, staying religiously on Milan's side and making mental notes on their company. If anything was to go wrong, he needed to know them - any signs of weakness, personalities, so forth. His old Raider-self had totally kicked in. He had used his holy blessing to discreetly feel around, happy to find that most of them had blessings to begin with, currently lingering dormant within.
Once they were there, Bale halted perfectly square and eyed the wooden cages and bridled slaves, all mashed together. He waited for the slave traders to sort their deal while his full attention was in the surroundings, keeping watch.

Roulette
At first the idea of leaving Deidra's estate was thrilling and exciting. How many horses get to venture out there, to see the world a little bit. He was overly eager, perhaps to eager and he would have noticed that small smirk Deidra gave him, when he accepted the chance to leave. Though now as he was saddled up with a cart as well as various other supplies, he realized his true importance. Pack mule. Son of a bitch. Still he kept a positive attitude, it was best to do so, as the past few months, since Deidra dealt with the court. That left her in a bitter mood and her tolerance low, and her workouts at an all time high. Still she had a heart, even if she hated him saying it. Roulette was saddled up and ready to go, though after a few days of travel, and getting to know the others, he realized this really wasnt to bad of a trip. Unlike his master Deidra, Roulette was out going and eager to talk with others and have some laughs along the way.
Roulette lifted his head as Deidra spoke of being here. He eyed Magmire and nodded lightly, it wasn't bad truly, it was well off enough, but not as vast as Valore of course! But still it wasn't decrepit, like he was sure Deidra was assuming, with that look in her eyes. Roulette smirked. "Hey at least we dont have to live here." he laughed at his own joke, fully knowing it would earn him a quick stern look from Deidra, still he liked to jest. Eyes turned to the pair, Milan and Bale and wondered what exactly they were looking for here in the midst of Vagabonds. Roulette tried to convince Deidra to get more pretty faces, he missed seeing so many of them at home, since Deidra was selling them faster then buying. For reasons he was truly unsure of at the moment, but he knew she was stocking up on something but what?
"Hmm would have thought someone would be here to greet us like. Welcome to Magmire, get you over cramped Vagabonds and be done with ya." he chuckled a bit. While he could fele pity for the Vagabonds in the cage, he really didn't This was something that was all to familiar with in the city. Where slaves came here and there. Everyone wanting the newest trend in slaves, or wanting more pitfighters. Slaves were always welcomed. Roulette was a proud slave, honestly, his life could be far worse, then what is was now, and he easily assumed that if Deidra choose any. they'd be set with a good life. Though Roulette spared a glance to the others and assumed perhaps all of them would have a good chance at a good life with any of them. It made him sigh with relief. It was no real shock there were those out there that abused their slaves, for their own sick need, and thankfully it seemed these characters about him, didn't seem like the type. Then again, Deidra looked as if she could kill someone with one of her stares. Fantastic, he thought. he'll be listening to pleading cries of a Vagabonds for a week, none the less carry them home. Gods have mercy.

Alyx Aodh | Slave Trader. The former Chevalier trudges behind the group, almost hanging back on purpose (mainly from the many years of being ambushed by unknown/unseen enemies) as she lets her feet sink into the ground with each step she takes. Her dark coat almost makes it unbearable out in the sun, but she keeps her thoughts to herself since there is such a great prize for them at the end of the long road ahead. Shaking the curls from in front of her face, she groans slightly as she tries to shake them free from the horn that juts out from her head. And just when she thinks her annoyance level couldn't get any higher- she lays eyes on Magmire. And at first sight, she can't even imagine that they are in the right place.
But at Deidra's words, she can only roll her eyes and let out this huff. This better be worth it, she thinks
This loud groan slips past her lips at the sight before her. Magmire. They traveled all the way here for a little town in the middle of nowhere. Her first immediate thought is that it's too quiet for her to be comfortable out in the open air of the town. Her second thought is that even if this small town, she would have expected that it would be a little bit more populated than what it was. She doesn't voice these thoughts to her companions- well at least not yet, but she reminds herself to keep her guard up high and to make sure that nothing slips from her line of sight.
A deep hum vibrates in the back of her throat as she listens to Diedra and Millan conversate with each other, and she gives this small nod in response, stepping her way to move alongside them.
"Best to get this over with," She muses, not particularly caring if anyone hears her- mainly speaking to herself at the moment.

At times hearing Roulettes voice was like nails on chalkboard. Still he held on to some sort of humor which was something to say for what all the young stallion had been through. With gritted teeth, she merely rolled her eyes. “Drop the cart Roulette.” she commanded with a stern voice, leaving him without a second for him to reply. Eyes looked to Milan and Bale. “Well let's get closer to the cages, surely someone will be there. Perhaps busy dealing with all the vagabonds.” Her voice was stern, but not bitter. Deidra always came off as cold, but those that were close to her, knew at times she could have a heart. Rarely, but it did happen. With a quick whistle for Roulette, she began to trot forwards. As the party drew near the cages, Deidra kept her face in its ever so unamused look. She prefered not to show emotion and her face was always resting in that ready to kill look. Deidra opened her mouth, but instead another voice filled the air. “Finally arrived. Im Jerah.” A draft horse approached them, clearly the ringleader of these lots. “Got here first congrats, why not have a good look around.” the draft spoke in a cool monotone. Probably thankful to not worry much anymore about these Vagabonds, as a few seemed to give him lip, a certain one for sure. Deidra nodded and looked to her companions and nodded as well. Venturing closer to the cages a single voice struck her out of the crowd and Deidra narrowed her eyes haughty on what seemed to be a fell pony mare. “Figured they send someone bigger than you.” a fell pony named Yara sneered. Deidra snorted, though she always loved a challenge, she approached cautiously. “Wouldn’t say much if I were you. I believe you are the one in the cage.” Deidra remarked not in the smart ass tone, but merely in the fact of it all sort of way. It seemed to make Yara angry and it was not but a second Deidra felt something on her face. A single lock of her popped out from her well slicked back mane. Spit. That damn daft pony had the audacity to spit on her face. Deidra scowled, and it seemed the two was ready to get in a spat. Anger boiling in both of their eyes. Yet Yara stood still, a single ear flickering, the fire vanishing as she looked over the small wooded area. Seeing this made Deidra tense, and soon followed the gaze of the fell pony brood. “What in fires name…” Deidra whispered out. Noises were heard, the cawing of birds? The foliage at the edge seemed to rustle, before critters seemed to scamper through in fear, clawing and biting their way through them all. Deidra moved quickly to Roulette, no shame in using him as her shield., While Jerah bolted to the cages to try and settle the nervous and scared Vagabonds. The dragons climbed over them, while birds flapped and cawed out, any other critter either moved over or under the equine and the town, leaving it all an eerie quiet in their wake. A large rumble was felt, the tremors of the land, that made it feel as if something was drawing near, but still nothing came. That was until a large crack was heard. Deidra and Yara looked to the sky, and there they saw it. A sight none would ever believe. Oriel had erupted. WC 583 | Deidra Post 2

Roulette
Everything was happening so fast. Weren't they just looking at Vagabonds, and suddenly animals and dragons alike were spilling out over them like a wave before they too had vanished running far away from something he had no idea about. Though Roulette stood proudly as he could making sure Deidra did not get the blunt force as she dashed to his side for protection. It was in these moments he heard her whispering, almost muttering to herself. Eyes looking to her, she gave him a nod, and he nodded as well. It was clear what they were to do. Ash began to fall and it set the mood as grieving for dead that had yet happened. "Get them out Roulette." she hissed as Deidra herself moved off. Roulette nodded and dashed forwards tot he closest one to him. One with an older pegasus in there, but as soon as he approached the old Pegasus spoke about his son. "My son Mo, he is not with me." he remarked and Roulette nodded and flashed a smile. "No worries we are getting you out and here, and then you can help us find your son." he remarked before rearing forwards, hooves smashing down at the lock they held the cage in whole.
Nostrils flared as the lock fell down and without a moment to spare Will was ushered out. "Thank you. I can help as well." he remarked puffing out his chest a bit as he flicked his poorly clipped wings to himself. It was the least Will could do, he was saved first and surely that would bide him time to help the others. Though Roulette moved close to Will's face snagged the bridle that was on him, allowing him more freedom and should they truly escape? Well it seemed they wouldn't be hindered by such things. Roulette tossed the bridle on the ground and looked to Will. "Go help the others. I'll get more out." he spoke before Roulette looked out, trying to see where his own master had gone. Refusing to let that bitter mare be taken down especially after what she had said to him.

MILAN Milan approached the cages together with Deidra, and allowed her to handle the meeting with the local leader. Closer to the cages he was even less impressed by them: they were mostly rickety and hastily constructed. Had the would-be-slaves - all the sixty-four of them, by gods - not been bridled, they probably would have broken out of the things by the sheer mass of their existence. He noted that some slaves were tied from their bridles to the bars, probably in an attempt to keep them from doing just that. The condition of these individuals varied greatly. Most seemed to be in a decent enough shape, while others had clearly been wounded in their capture, or the time following it. Milan took no pleasure in looking at the crudely clipped wings and horribly mangled horns. His eyes fell on the unicorn with a mangled horn especially, and her bulging pregnant belly. It made him feel a little sick – would the mother and child even survive the road back to New Valore?
His thoughts were cut short when they were swarmed by animals. All kinds of animals, from pygmy dragons to less exotic beasts. Large and small, they clearly wanted nothing to do with the place, yet nothing dangerous was to be seen. His eyes darted to the panicked vagabonds. The air felt heavy with anticipation. Milan took a step closer to Bale.
Then the world broke in a thundering sound. Milan’s eyes snapped to the horizon, while many of those in the cages did the same, awkwardly shifting their bodies to see the cause of the sound. A dash of red. A cloud of black. Mount Oriel aflame, erupting for the first time in ages. The wind would bring the cloud straight on top of them.
He heard Jerah curse and call out to the villagers to evacuate. Milan cursed as well. Then his head turned to Bale, and while his heart was pounding, and his head felt light, he still managed a commanding tone: “The unicorn mule is pregnant and injured. You know what to do.” The already released pegasus with clipped wings rushed to his side – his son was somewhere between the warm bodies in the cages, but until then, Will would be happy to aid the pregnant mule. Behind them, other vagabonds were already running away from danger, having been freed from the cage that had contained them and Will. Most were bridled, but now was not the time.
Milan turned his attention entirely to the pregnant mule whose eyes were wide from panic, and breathing hard. Milan reached to touch her, which made her flinch, then stop and stare at him instead of the incoming cloud of death. “Yeah, that’s right. We will help you out, I promise. But you have to calm down”, he said, uncharacteristically gentle when speaking to this heavily pregnant and clearly terrified individual. Will stood at his side, and nodded, injecting his own words: “They will let all of us go, Leia. We can make it to the woods from here, to safety.” The mule’s eyes darted between them. Her breathing was still raspy, but she now managed to speak, albeit faintly and barely audible over the other sounds: “My head hurts. M-my horn…” Milan gazed at the horn and kept talking: “My friend here – that big guy with the gentle eyes – he will heal you. With a blessing, one of those soothing Cascade blessings. You know Cascade?” The mule nodded. “The waves will soothe your pain. Don’t think about any of this. Think of water. Waves. Soft and gentle. Breathe. Yeah that’s right. You can do this. Everyone is here to help”, Milan went on, moving his body slightly to make room for Bale to heal the mare through the bars, but keeping eye contact with her all the while. Will had managed to snap some of the rickety bars between the two vagabonds, and was holding his muzzle gently to her neck, helping her breathe in the same rhythm as him – all the while scanning the cages for his son.

Bale followed Milan to the cages, high on alert and rather suspiciously eyeing Jerah - Bale could feel his teke around his sword. His attention was pulled from staring the draft, first to the sound of birds and animals, and then a horde of them running apparently for their lives. Bale's gaze searched for a reason, moving closer to shield Milan, and when the ground rumbled and a loud crack filled the air, the armored horse looked ready to battle the volcano. His armor reflected the sky as for a moment he stared at the ash and fire spewing mountain with wide eyes and flared nostrils, assessing the direction of the wind and the situation unfolding in front of them. First priority was Milan, but they still had time, so naturally Bale snapped to action in order to save the slaves.
His first instinct would have been to crash through the cages and just release everyone, but his ear still bent towards Milan as he listened, his gaze following and assessing the rapidly breathing mare. The panic could be felt and almost tasted in the air as the horses tried to help themselves by pushing against the cages, and the first ones to be freed running for safety, even further adding to the fear of those still left locked up.
Yet there was one who stayed behind, a clipped winged pegasus. Bale pushed down his own anxiety and need to act quickly while he waited for Milan and Will to get in contact with the mare, and watched as her eyes turned towards the stallions and breathing evened out slightly. This was certainly not a place for a heavily pregnant lady, and as soon as there was room, Bale stepped closer. "Everything will be alright", he promised softly, not letting his doubts cloud or shatter his voice. He focused in his blessing, waking it up inside and reaching out. Will was doing a good job keeping the mare still even when the odd sensation of the blessing reached her head, and into her horn. Bale let his magic seep into the damaged nerves, sealing them and pushing them to heal. For a moment, the rest of the world faded away as there was only the connection of the healing magic between him and the mare. She gasped as she could feel the pain subside, and relief washed over her.
When Bale could feel that his blessing had done its work he took a step back, making sure the stress had not made the mare go into labor in the midst of the chaos, and then looked around to see the best way to go forward with releasing the vagabonds. Once Will could trust that the pregnant mare was in good hands he, too, took a step back, focused to find his son.

LIONEL (w QUINCY) How plans change. Originally, Lionel had not been planning to join these younger traders on this trip – he was no longer a young colt full of pep, and this walk was certainly doing a number on his muscles. No, he had wanted to have a few chosen slavers go on the trip to retrieve some goods, and then they would owe him. Being owed to was a wonderful thing in his line of work – sometimes they were just what was needed to steady his interests, or to start a chain of events that provided him with more secrets. He had selected Quincy to join him. The massive Clydesdale was as strong as a mammoth, young and obediently loyal. A friendly young slave, the mellow type, perfect for physical labor and big enough to be intimidating to any passing vagabond or other hoodlum. That, combined with the pit fighters his two young colleagues had brought along, had kept this journey fairly pleasant, save for the walking.
Lionel was hanging back, allowing Deidra to do the talking. Then, Oriel exploded. Out of all those gathered here, Lionel seemed the least shocked. Not because he had known about the eruption, but simply because in his line of work, being very open about when you have been taken by surprise was not viable. No, he kept his face at a tone that read “annoyed at complications”, and assessed the situation again. Useless loss of life was never his style, although the rumors told people otherwise.
“Quincy. Go offer aid”, he told the big Clydesdale, who nodded and trucked onwards. By the time he had reached the cages with his fairly slow movements, a dark slaver and his slave had managed to calm down a pregnant mule. Quincy broke through the cage door, causing a stream of vagabonds to escape from its grasp. The mule still couldn’t move, bridled to the post. Quincy ripped the bridle apart with a good pull of his teeth, and the mule stumbled out, heading away from Oriel and the impending disaster as fast as she could.

Having intensely focused on healing the pregnant mule, Bale didn't object the black stallion trashing through the cage and letting the mare free. For a fleeting moment he did consider making sure she was alright for sure, but was snapped back to reality with a commanding voice: "Hey, boy, free me next. I can help." As Bale turned to look, he saw a chestnut fell pony mare. What she lacked in height, she surely made up in attitude, and the others around seemed to respect her and stay slightly calmer. Bale didn't take long moving over, and investigated the lock. He appreciated the mare staying calm, and instead of giving in to the panic she gave a few pointers as to how the cage was built. She had had more time to look at it, after all.
Bale leaned his whole body weight into strong kicks, and with every strong blow the cage creaked and splinters flew around. "Watch out!" Yara yelled at the others, making sure they weren't too close to the cage door to be on the receiving end of Bale's heavy kicks. At times like these he was surely thankful for the horseshoes protecting his own hooves. When it felt like the heavy barrier beam was starting to give in, Bale turned around to investigate once more.

Roulette
`To say everything was calm, to a complete shit storm was only an understatement. So many Vagabonds already free and running for the hills far away from this place before death would engulf them all in ash. Ears flickered as she heard that mouthy mare Yara speak. His head turned enough to hear her yell for others to watch out. Bale hit the barrier beam, and he seemed to smile. Good work, he thought mentally as he rushed onward willing to give aid to Bale as well as the Vagabonds. Roulette moved with ease despite his large stature, and was soon upon Yara and the Vagabonds. "Well done Bale." he chuckled to the other stallion before making quick and soon released Yara and the other Vagabonds.
Roulette watched as Yara commanded the lot of them to keep moving to stay out of her way as she promised to assure everyone would make it out alive. Roulette was indeed impressed with this short stack of a mare. Her attitude seemed to give power to those around her and he watched as the Vagabonds nodded and soon ran for the hills like all the others. Only Yara reminded with her determind eyes, ready to lend a hoof so long as she too did not become lost in the sea of ashes. Roulette merely nodded to Yara, before looking to were Deidra was, always making sure she was alright and not being trampled over. He was her tower and he assured he, he wouldn't let her get hurt, despite her dramatic eyes rolls and lack for caring. Still he had some sense of honor in him, even in a pitfighter slave. Yet as he looked at his master, he watched Yara move towards her, and he watched with suspicious eyes.

Deidra
Deidra was looking over the cages and noticed a mare still stuck within one, it seemed she was tied to the bars and was struggling to free herself. The wings on her were quite a beauty, and if Deidra had an lack of a soul, she would have snatched this beauty for herself. But before her train of thought wrecked as noticed the cage shaking from the gust of the mares wings, Even from here Deidra noticed the lack of fear in her face, but merely determination to get out. Glancing around she eyed Roulette and made eye contact, but that was before she spotted Yara and somehow it was as if that mare aimed to piss her off, that Yara came galloping towards her. Deidra ears flattened to her head as she turned off and began moving towards the pegasus mare still trapped in the cage. "Sicilly" Yara called out to the winged mare, that seemed to be the trick to a get the winged one to settle from the constant rocking of the cage. Before Deidra could even get into the cage, Yara brushed past her and was in there trying her best to get the winged Sicilly free.
With a scowl and knowing now was truly not the time to argue, Deidra moved into the cage, and looked at the two. "Here, I know how these work assist me." she said to Yara knowing surely it would ruffle the leader a bit, having to help her. But still Yara took it in stride, clearly both of them not wanting to start a true fight while Sicilly was stuck in the cage. Deidra began to work on the bridle while Yara worked on the ropes that tied Sicilly's front legs down. Clearly the slave drivers did not trust winged ones much. Not that Deidra could blame them. If one got into the air, she'd wonder how exactly that would get them back. in a few Seconds the bridle was off of Sicilly and her legs free thanks to Yara. "Thank you." she remarked coolly. Without a second to spare Sicilly was off out of the cage and running to catch up with the other Vagabonds running away from this ash stricken place. Deidra yearned to follow, wanted to perhaps have the mare for herself, but now was not the time she thought, as Yara eyed her with curious. "Good work." Deidra grumbled, and that seemed to please Yara before she was off helping elsewhere.

Bale looked at Roulette slightly surprised at the praise and smiled shortly with a nod as he made room for the other pit fighter to work at the cage in turn. Praise had really been the furthest from his mind, he was so intensely focused in getting everyone out alive. Once he was sure that Yara and the others near her were released, he started looking around for the next best place to go. The air was thick and filled with hoof beats and shouts, and it felt more like a war zone than anything else. Even for someone as well versed in battle as Bale, it took concentration to keep calm. Sweat was running from underneath his armor, but Bale was still thankful for the protection more than anything.
He was heading towards another gate, but a sharp whistle turned his head. "You, here", Yara commanded, and Bale trotted over to see a slender palomino splash mare with a particularly nasty cut on her leg. She couldn't put her weight on it, and was now leaning part of her weight for Yara. "Hold on, I can fix that", Bale reassured as calmly as he possibly could, kneeling to have a better view. With focus his blessing was once more radiating out and healing the gash from inside out. Normally Bale would have taken the time to assure that all the tingling was normal, but now this was just something that needed to be dealt with as quickly as possible. As soon as the wound was sealed shut Bale rose back to his feet, breathing heavily as he gave himself a second to recover.

MILAN Milan watched as the pregnant mare ran off to freedom, feeling mostly relieved. There were still a lot of vagabonds in the cages, and a few had run into him, causing pain, but the adrenaline in his system was too much to dwell on that right now. As he caught his breath and watched the situation unfold for a while, although still absentmindedly working on untying a few vagabonds from the utterly wrecked cage, he noted that the villagers had managed to assemble, and were now taking off in a somewhat orderly fashion. There was no sign of aid from them, which made Milan sneer quietly. He understood the children and youths leaving, but all the adults too? They were the ones who had put the vagabonds in this situation – granted they couldn’t have known that Oriel would erupt – and they couldn’t even be bothered to help? Old Lionel back there he wasn’t all that bitter about. At least the slave was helping, and in all honesty, Lionel was so ancient that Milan wasn’t convinced he would be any help anyway. Creepy stares didn’t usually comfort people, and imagining the white grandpa trying to break open the cage was mostly just a hilarious idea.
Right. Back to action.
Pushing back the bitterness towards the villagers, Milan ran to where Bale had moved. The healing was just being finished up, and the lithe mare now seemed increasingly eager to get away from this place. Milan noticed her gaze going to a rather similar looking mare in another gaze, and he asked over the noise of running hooves: “A relative of yours?” Before Riley had a chance to reply, Yara spoke: “Her sister. They’re close. We can get her next, now stop talking and get to work, boy.” Milan blinked at the indignant, commanding tone, not something he was used to hearing from anyone. He really wanted to argue and shoot back a sassy comment, but now was not the time. Instead, Milan sneered at Yara, and turned his attention to the previously wounded mare, trying to determine how to release her. The gate was already open, but she was tied up, bridled, and a part of the hobbles holding her unwounded legs in place had bent in a way which made simply opening them hard. Not that they had a key anyway.
“You do the hobbles, I’ll do the rest”, Milan voiced his observations. The vagabond leader merely nodded, and started bashing the hobbles with her hooves, while the dark stallion worked to swiftly untie Riley. They were done with their tasks at about the same time, and Riley bolted loose while thanking them for their help. “We will wait for you at the edge of the woods, Yara!” she shouted as she ran off, to which Yara responded: “No you won’t, run off and we’ll meet at our usual spot.”
With that, Yara was moving towards Remy, and calling Quincy to help release her. Milan took the opportunity to look at Bale, noting how tired his slave seemed. “We can do it Bale. Go find the foal. The white pegasus said his son was here somewhere”, Milan huffed, giving Bale a look that mostly spoke of desperation.

LIONEL (W QUINCY) Lionel eyed the volcano with a cold stare, assessing how long they still had before they had to get the hell away from there, stat. Well, truth be told that moment probably had been the second Oriel had erupted, but oh well. Luckily he had done such a magnificent job training his trusty brute of a slave, so it was perfectly acceptable for him to stand to the side. All the action around him was enough to make him wheeze for sure.
Quincy followed Yara's call obediently. He was used to being told what to do, so it was almost a relief to be able to just do as told. He quickly nodded at the splashed buckskin mare, who seemed more than ready to be set free. Quincy made quick work of the ties and bridle holding Remy in the cage, while Yara was on top of her task at removing the hobbles at her feet. A moment of trashing hooves, clasped teeth and some strong useage of teke, and the second of the sisters was free as well. "Go find your sister", Yara commanded, but stubbornly Remy shook her head, instead insisting: "You go make sure she gets away safe. I'll stay back and help with the rest here!" After a quick staredown Yara nodded and headed after Riley, while Remy assessed the situation in her turn.
Lionel whistled for Quincy, determined that enough time had been spent on these slaves, as he needed time himself to make it out. It looked like the ash would blow onto them any moment now, and he wasn't eager to see what that would do to his old lungs. Quincy glanced back at the vagabonds left in the sticky situation, but decided that his loyalty towards Lionel was more important, and continued to assist his wheezing master away.

Deidra
Eyes locked onto the retreating form of her Uncle Lionel, and was thankful he and his slave we making a departure. She could not fret over family, while trying to save them all, plus his constant staring still made her uneasy at times, but still the Old Lion was family. Family she actually liked to say the least. Eyes glanced to the others they were making quick work, but the ash continued to fall, and at times she coughed, but ignored the burning in her lungs. Now was not the time to be weak, just like the others she continued forth. Eyes looked onto a small child, and for a second she too was frozen. A mere child, a little one, and she saw its fear so etched into its face. Alone in another cage, tied up in the cage, the poor thing made no peep or a sound.
"Mo?" a voice called out and Deidra whipped her head around to spot a the mare and Deidra quickly followed suit of the pair. "Mo?" the one spoke gently. Mo's little ear flickered but still remained where they were planted so well into the floor of the cage it was as if the two had become one. Deidra took a step on the cage, and suddenly Mo was looking at her, then at Remy. Remy eyed Deidra with caution. "This is Mo. Mo this is?" Remy looked to Deidra. "Im Deidra." she remarked trying her best to sound soft, but it was ahrd when the mare was cold as winter storm. "We are here to help you Mo." But Mo wasn't having it, the second any approached Mo shook all the more. Pulse beating rapidly and surely could be scared nearly to death this wasn't good. Remy looked sadly at Mo, as its little breath was staggering, breath far to quickly in and out, surely if it did not cease the little one would black out.
Deidra looked to the others still working on it. Deidra took another step forwards. "Easy Mo... We need to get you out of here." she remarked and Remy chimed in. "Don't you wanna see you pa?" Remy offered a light smile, but still the little one accepted they where near, but still did not move, and the rapid rise and fall of its chest bought concern to wash over Deidra, they needed more help. Eyes scanned the field and there she spotted Milan. Surely Milan would have a way with words. "Milan, we need your help." she remarked out to him, trying not to yell out and scare the child even more.

MILAN It was not Bale who found the foal, but Deidra, now accompanied by the recently released Remy, sister of the mare they had just brought to freedom. Milan was counting the vagabonds in his mind – 64 there had been to begin with, how many were still left here? Quite a few, but less than half. Many of them were panicked, and those who still remained caged seemed constantly more frantic. Outside the hoofbeats, shouts and crying, the world was oddly quiet. All animal sounds had vanished. Occasionally the distant rumble of the volcano washed over them, menacing and unstoppable, but otherwise… Eerie silence. Like the world was preparing to plunge into darkness. The cloud of ash was moving as a frontier, closer every second. The air felt uncomfortably warm, and there was a distinct smell of sulfur carrying on the wind. Milan coughed silently as he moved on. This was not how he had imagined his first visit outside New Valore.
He snapped back to the moment when Deidra called him. It was the foal. Milan ran over to them, and as soon as he arrived, the problem was quite obvious. The foal, Mo was his name, was frozen in sheer terror. Even the face of another Vagabond did not seem to be enough to calm him down. Milan tried his best to make his green eyes go soft, to keep the panic out of his own voice. “Hello, Mo. I’m Milan, and I was speaking to your dad earlier”, he told the foal. It made Mo stare at him, an opportunity which Remy used to get closer to the foal, and shield him from the other horses still moving around them. They meant no harm to the foal, but panic went far above their skill at being careful. “Yeah, I spoke to him just now, and he is waiting for you a couple running steps away. He is helping the others stay together so you can all be safe”, Milan went on, before smiling gently, and adding: “Your father is very brave. Do you want to be brave, Mo?”
The foal nodded, but his heart was still pounding. “Good, because now is a good time to start. I know this is scary. I’m scared too, and that’s okay. But you can be brave. Be free. Be with your dad. Those are all good things. Important things! You just need to calm down, focus. We will let you free, and then you have to run to dad, and run with dad far away from this place”, Milan kept talking, he felt like it was mostly nonsense, but he kept his voice friendly and soft. He looked the foal in the eyes as he spoke, and slowly but surely, the foal started to respond. Not with words, really, but his eyes started moving more normally, and his ears twitched in the rhythm of Milan’s words.
“His heartbeat is becoming more normal”, Remy said from the side, smiling with what could only be described as relief, before getting up and heading to aid another rescue attempt.

Roulette
Head turned to the side as he heard Dedira and oddly was slightly annoyed she was calling for someone else's help besides his own. Not that he truly should take it to heart, still he scowled just a bit, before eyeing the next cage to be broken into. He gulped faintly, he was already exhausted and he had wished he found this cage now. It seemed well done, almost to well done. Surely they should have found this one first, he thought with as he took in one shaky breath and marched forwards. "Let me help." Remy replied standing now next to Roulette. the draft horse eyed the mare a bit and smirked. "Only if you think you can handle working with me." he laughed a bit, and Remy only offered him a look, but he swore, he saw the corner of her lip turn upwards. Good enough for him.
"Remy? You are here? Where is your sister?" Ollander asked looking about. Remy smiled "She is out of trouble, got busted up real, good. Now shut up Ollander so we can get to work." she remarked and Roulette had to stifle back his desire to laugh. Both Roulette and Remy worked on breaking the bars, their strength together still did not seem enough. Panic was rising in Roulettes throat, it was sour and he wanted to be sick. This wasn't good, and with the sudden rumble of the volcano, made them still for a moment. Roulette looked the caged Vagabonds and then to Remy. they did some damage to the bar, and they were getting closer, but he could tell Remy was getting weaker and she needed her strength to get back to her family. Roulette such the hero type offered Remy and smile. "Go on get out of here. I'll get them out, I still got some friends here willing to lift a hoof." Ollander tilted his head. "You are leaving?" he asked in mild confusion. Remy snorted a bit, "Ollander get your head out of the clouds, we all will be leaving. Met us at the place." she remarked. Ollander looked to Roullete. "Will you be going as well?" he asked with more confusion then before. "Sorry to break it you Oll, my boy. But Im here for a while longer." He flashed the unicorn a grin before lookign around spotting Bale. "Bale my hero!" he called out grinning ear to ear. "Come to help me break this damn bar?" he grinned. How he managed to smile ever during this was beyond many. Still he kept his spirits high. Someone had to.

Deidra
It was clear she amde the right choice of picking Milan to come over and comfort the young child. He did seem to have a way with words, it amused her a bit, foals and young ones were interesting things. Deidra normally avoided them, but there was a time she found herself with a pregnant mare, and Deidra could not dare to separate the two, and now that filly was working with the King. The thought made her smile, but vanished as she heard the rumbling of the volcano and the darkening sky. Eyes narrowed as she continued to listen to Milan speak of bravery and telling Mo to be brave themselves. The gesture was sweet, but this darkness looming towards them was ill to say the least. With a sigh she closed her eyes for a moment, praying this would work at least for now. Her tongue clicked and suddenly light was lifting upwards. Unlike many that used their gifts with just a flick of their mind, Deidra much prefer to have a sort of action, like a whistle or the click of the tongue. Deidra looked to the light and sighed a bit. It should buy them sometime but not for long.
As she created the light it seemed she attracted the attention of the little Mo. Eyes glanced to Mo, the small one had calmed down, and seemed to stare at the lights in almost wonder, perhaps Deidra was not so terrible with children after all? Though that thought was better for a later date. "Mo, I am going to get you untied." Mo merely nodded, still enthralled by the lights, thank goodness children had small minds. Deidra was able to release Mo from the bar, before opening the door to the cage allowing them all out. Deidra tapped Mo on the rump with her nose. "Get going, your father is waiting for you." Mo nodded and suddenly was scampering out, but not before looking at Milan and Deidra and offering what seemed to be a rare huge grin, before dashing off with the others. he smile had an odd affect on Deidra, it made her chest tighten and had some sort of feelings, she swallowed them downa dn buried them deep. No feelings today. Looking to Milan, she dipped her head to him. "You are good with children." she remarked it was the best complement and or thanks she could offer him at the moment. She was already exhausted from what they all were doing in minutes since the wake.

Bale could hear the desperate undertone in Milan's voice, but he knew he couldn't give in to the desire to stay and reassure him. The sooner the vagabonds were released, the sooner he could make sure they got as far away from Oriel as possible. So much for a casual stroll and smelling the wilder air once more. To Bale, it was almost symbolic, how the world outside New Valore was suddenly all fire and doom - happily clueless what was actually happening back home.
Bale nodded to Milan, searching feverishly for the little foal. He looked as the siblings were set free, while using his large, armored body to guide the panicked and blindly fleeing horses so that they wouldn't cause further damage to the small rescue team. Some hit him, some just bruised past, but the adrenaline was rushing through his veins and making sure he didn't actually feel any of it. In the chaos it took a moment for him to see the foal, and Deidra was there faster. He ran closer to see if the foal was hurt, but it just seemed terrified. Bale thought that his large, armored self would be little help in reassuring the little one, and instead his attention turned towards the rather desperate looking mashing with a sturdier cage. From the corner of his eye he could both see Deidra's blessing light up the sky and push the ash further for now, but he could also feel it inside. Definately not something he wanted to suppress, though.
He managed a rather ghostly smile at Roulette once he got close, and he didn't waste precious time before battling with the enforcing bar. He trashed against it with his whole strenght, his hooves and the metal of his armor hitting sparks with the metal bar. The metal quaked and whined as it was forced to bend, then suddenly break. Bale almost fell on his face from putting his whole body into the final blow, and the bar giving in. The last latch didn't seem one that would take up too much strenght, so he looked at Roulette: "Good work. Kick through this one last latch, it's already loose. Then I suggest you take Deidra and run. Me and Milan will take care of the final cage."
And with his words Bale bolted off towards the final cage, desperately looking for Milan as he did so.

Roulette
Eyes caught sight of the light blessing, while his eyes instantly tried to find the source, though he knew of who did it, but had to be sure she was fine. Seeing her he felt calmer, she was fine and clearly she was holding back the ash with her gift. Turning to Bale, he watched as the stallion approached and made quick work of the bar. Bale spoke to him quickly and Roulette nodded. "Dont be long!" he shouted to Bale's retreating form. It would not sit well with him if he got himself and Dedira out of here, but those two not. Ollander looked at him with confusion. Roulette snorted a bit not wanting to explain. With a last fumble with the latch it cracked and soon fell with a clang. Roulette opened the doors and out when the Vagabonds.
Watching them run out of the cage, was like watching the waves crash out on the shore. It was oddly poetic, but there was no time to waste it. He had a mission now, Milan and Bale where off to the last cage and Deidra was focusing on her blessing clearly as she looked up to the sky. He trotted towards her heavy in breath. "Deidra we have to go." he urged her with his face, trying to get her to move. He could feel the dampness of her pelt, her attention on the light, he knew she was focusing, knew she was trying to buy them time. Yet they had to go, perhaps he would regret this decision later, but he was past the point of caring at the moment. Using what was left of his strength, he began ushering Deidra out, snapping her out from her focus. Watching her almost wake up from a trance like state. Clearly not used to having her blessing used at such. Roulette worried the second she lost focus the blessing would vanish and yet it still prevailed. Perhaps to buy them more time then expected. Still he urged his master to move. Even when he noticed her body shake with exhaustion. Still he urged her forth, his eyes looked back at Milan and Bale, and gave a faint pray to whatever God would hear him, that those two would make it out as well.

MILAN He watched in amazement as Deidra’s blessing – it had to be light manipulation – shielded them from them from the falling ash. The heat could still be felt, and he smelled the nasty sulfur and burning rock, but the light was holding it at bay for now. The foal left them with speed, which made Milan feel a lot better about this whole mess. The dark stallion watched over the heads of others how the foal was united with his father, who had been waiting some distance away, and they left together, heading in the same direction as all the other vagabonds. “Nah, I’m good with folks in general”, Milan grinned, but it seemed forced and tired. Normally he would have greatly enjoyed praise from someone older and more respected than himself, but right now it felt rather inconsequential and pointless. They could all die – Alya’s farts, the Vagabonds might all die too, who knew what other horrors the volcano would decide to visit upon them. There could be earthquakes.
Milan got up to his feet, and started moving towards the very last cage. It had already been partially busted open by previous efforts, causing many of those inside to flee. But a Shetland pony and a few others were still there. The others were tied – the Shetland was not. His face communicated only stubbornness. The dark stallion was moving slower than usual. He didn’t remember when he last was so tired. Vagabonds kept running into him in their panic: most had left immediately, but others stayed behind to take account of family members, or were merely in a state of confusion and panic. All of the villagers were long gone. Deidra and Roulette were leaving. Milan saw Bale push through the crowd, his armor shining in the last whispers of Deidra’s blessing. It was beautiful.
Then, the ash fell.
With Deidra’s light gone, the ash fell heavy upon those who remained. It came like a wave – small particles of ash, but also larger pieces, still hot from the eruption. There were shards of ice covered in ash, brought in from the skies. Dead birds blinded by the ash, or still struggling and failing. All of it fell. Milan felt a searing pain on the left side of his face. He barely managed to close his eyes before a number of hard, hot rocks hit him, scratching and burning his face. The pain was unlike anything he had felt before, and the dark stallion screamed, stumbling around and blinking furiously.
He heard screams and crying from nearby. The vagabonds. Milan staggered towards them, barely thinking. Gone were his smart words and any sort of real control over the situation. He just knew he needed to get them out, and fast. There was no more time. “I won’t budge before you release these fellas”, the hippocampus Shetland said. Normally Milan would have tried to convince him. Talk him out of it. It would’ve only taken a minute. He didn’t have a minute.
“No. You will move NOW”, Milan’s voice boomed with almost unnatural rage and authority – it was a pained voice, and in that moment, he unleashed his blessing on the Shetland. Marcus seized in pain, causing some of the still chained vagabonds to panic. Milan held him like that for a moment, and then let up. His coat was covered in sweat, his green eyes dull. The panic was fading, and it was being replaced by shock.
Marcus decided against further argument.

At first, there was a moment of relief. Roulette was letting that cage free, and Bale could hear him tell Deidra they needed to go. He could see Milan in the midst of the chaos, but his shout was lost under the thunder of galloping hooves. And then, as the light subsided, it was like hell unleashed. He could barely see, his breathing felt heavy as the ash burned in his lungs. His armor shielded him from the most of it, and what it could not would surely be later healed by his blessing.
Milan's scream, however, was like a dagger had pierced into him. For a fleeting moment Bale was ready to abandon everyone and everything to shield his master. The thought of failing thundered in his head as he turned, just to see Milan make his way through the ash. Bale knew not to waste time arguing that Milan should be healed first, there was no luxury of time left. Instead, he waved his sword, cutting ties and bonds and parrying a few larger rocks or birds falling. Had he not been a master of his sword, he would not have dared to use it in this chaos. And had Milan not used his blessing to convince the stubborn pony, Bale would have been emotionally ready to simply throw him out of the way. There was no room for sorry or guilt about the pain caused, there was only one goal at this point; for everyone to escape with their lives.
As soon as Marcus moved, Bale trashed trough the gate quite literally, and pushed the panicked mass into right direction, making sure they didn't blindly run into Milan. Out of the cage last came Bale, and his heart skipped a few beats as he saw Milan's face closer. "Let's go!" he shouted, taking the side which the wind blew from hardest, trying his best to shield Milan as they ran for safety.

Deidra
It was odd how in frantic moments, when time leap forwards in bounds, that it could also move so slow in mere seconds that felt like minutes. She felt the push and nudge of Roulette, trying to rouse her from using her blessing, but she refused to budge. Her eyes mainly focused on the lights above, almost enthralled by them. This was all she could do to manage to buy them all more time. More time to save these would be slaves. She remember seeing them in those cages so snug, children and elderly alive. Saw how some where wounded, and pregnant. Horns crushed before they even were sold. It was an odd sense to see and in this moment they were all risking their lives to save them. Deidra had done this once before, risked her won life to save Vagabonds from being burnt alive. She wondered in these vast few seconds, what had become of her cold exterior. Where did it begin to melt?
Another nudge and Roulette was moving her rousing her fromher thoughts and focus. She looked to him, sweat beading on her brow as she blinked hazily. "Deidra we have to go." His words hit her, and her eyes flashed to him, finally awakening from her dream like state. "The others?" she whispered, her voice almost horse, but Roulette nodded, eager to get his master moving. Deidra spotted the two running off to the last cage. Deidra looked up at the lights and watched as it began to dimmer, before breaking. Ash fell onto them and Deidra moved quickly now with Roulette, they ahd to get out here, that she knew, and she had no control of what the other two did, though she had hoped she could return, but it seemed her loyal guard dog was set on his mind on saving her. Ha. Deidra dashed onward and spotted the cart. "Roulette the cart, we need it!" she yelled as she took a turn towards the cart. It had their supplies their food and they needed it for the week travel back to home. If they managed even that. Eyes found Roulette almost reluctance but still he agreed, and Deidra and him worked quickly to tie it on him before dashing forwards. "Just keep moving Roulette I'll follow behind." she planned to help him get that cart moving so he did not have to bare the weight alone. The two dashed onward, breath heavy as the ash clung to their bodies making it harder to catch a deep breath. Still they moved forwards, praying they would all make it out alive.
