Siglavy
He paced the length of his room impatiently, listening to the click of his hooves on the stony floor. There was no telling when his escort for the day would arrive since his room had no window, but he hoped it wouldn't be long. He rather disliked the way these strange animals treated him as if he were a prisoner, but he supposed it could be much worse. Plus, he couldn't really blame them either. If he were in their hooves, he probably would be locking up this reincarnated stranger too. As far as he knew, many of these scruffy creatures didn't trust him. If the stories were to be believed, he didn't trust himself either.
It felt like another lifetime had gone and passed before he heard the faint clip-clop of heavy hooves tapping down the hallway. At last, he thought, turning around to face the heavy oak door. He couldn't wait to leave the stuffiness of this little space--it felt like it used to be a storage room, for its size and lack of ventilation, but it was decent enough.
The footsteps grew louder and louder until they stopped outside of his door. There was a rattling sound, and the door swung open with a soft squeal of hinges.
Siglavy met the eyes of stallion who stood before him.
"About time," he huffed.

Icabod
Icabod trotted eagerly down the halls. Finally, a job he was excited for! It wasn't often he got such an awesome job to do. Watching a kirin was just… Icabod couldn't even think to describe how happy he was. He felt almost like he was vibrating with joy. “Calm down, Icabod. You're simply escorting him for a day on the town. Don't be a spaz.” He murmured to himself.
Icabod opened the creaking door with a grin on his face. The expression stuttered briefly at the first words from the kirin’s mouth. He shook his head. Of course he'd act out in some spite. Kirins were a haughty group and this one was basically imprisoned in a strange new land.
“My apologies. I had a young owlet who needs tending to and my mother was taking an obnoxious amount of time getting him.” Icabod smiled. “Anyway, my name is Icabod. You're Siglavy, correct?”
His eyes seemed to sparkle with excitement as he gazed upon his new companion. Everything about the kirin was stunning and unique. The blue of his scales. His twisting antlers. Absolutely glorious. Icabod cleared his throat. Probably best not to start fangirling over this one upon their first meeting. “So! Where shall we go to start off our day, sir? I was thinking I could show you Skeldr Town. It's quite a fine hub of excitement.”

Siglavy
The horse who greeted him was a large bay roan with a ridiculously big smile. Siglavy struggled to fight back a snort of amusement when he saw the stallion's expression falter briefly at his curt response, and tried to make it seem more like a cautious sniff. He had a bit of a feeling that the moment had sort of gone over the other horse's head since he seemed like he was about to explode with excitement. There was a particular glow of admiration and awe in his eyes that Siglavy often noticed with horses that came to visit him, for some reason or the other.
"Yes, that'd be me," he said with a tiny nod. "I suppose young creatures and mothers are still the same as ever, hmm?"
He flicked his long tail--which was slightly matted and frizzy at the ends, he realized in embarrassment--and strutted past the other horse and into the equally bare hallway. He resolved to ask for a brush later on.
"Ah...I don't really have a preference for location since I hardly know the place," Siglavy chuckled drily. "This...Skeldr Town sounds just as good as any place around here, I suppose." He wasn't going to admit to this guy that he was rather itching to get a better view of the place since that first unceremonious march to the mountain...
He took a deep breath and scented a whisk of fresh air despite the lack of windows along this length of the corridor.
"So, what are we waiting for? Let's get going!"

Icabod
The stallion gave a nod. “I suppose so. Don't blame her much, though. She's got a jacked up leg thanks to little foal me.” He shook his head. It always made him feel bad to think of it.
Icabod sighed softly as Siglavy continued to speak. Of course he'd continue to not care. Or at least, he came across that way. “Alright. Skeldr Town it is!” With a pep in his step, Icabod led the way to the exist. It wasn't often he was in such a big, fancy place. It was kind of nice.
Icabod walked out into the mild mountain air. He held the door for the kirin, helpfully. He took a big breath before heading out again. “I know a bunch of quicker ways down the mountain if you have the balance for it. The rocks can be a bit slippery at times. But, of course, we can always take the scenic pathways. Just takes more time, y’know?” Icabod flashed a smile at him again. It took a bit of effort on his part not to glance at Siglavy every couple seconds. “Once we do get to the town, what would you like to do? We can buy things, we can go to a bar, we can meet some new horses. Anything, really. So whadya say?”

Siglavy
He followed the roan stallion out of the nearest exit, briefly wondering just how many ways in and out of the mountain there must be. There had to be tons--who would want to get trapped in a stone cage like this during an invasion?!
Siglavy absentmindedly acknowledged it when this...Icabod guy held open the door for him. He was much more focused on the new scene in front of him to listen to much the other horse had to say. The mountain air sang on his tongue when he breathed in, and there must've been thousands of different scents in the air. He felt a slight pang of pity when he heard the other horse talking about his mother, which quickly became a mild sense of confusion. Mother? Something strange tickled the back of his mind where his lost memories were, but it slipped away as soon as he tried to grasp it.
"I'm...sorry to hear that about your mother," he said, wrinkling his brows in confusion as he followed close behind. Feeling a bit miffed by his inability to figure out what was bothering him, he added, "Also, I'm sure I have better balance than you, after all, with these cloven hooves of mine. No need to worry. Though we may as well take a scenic route since we've got so much time today." Completely ignorant, he nibbled curiously at some coarse mountain grass, then spat it back out in an ungraceful manner almost immediately.
Ew! Dry stuff, he complained to himself. Hopefully, Icabod hadn't noticed. He didn't really feel like having this horse telling his friends about how their "magical new herd member" was actually total foal. That would be some whole other level of embarrassing.
"Mmm...let's visit the market first," he suggested. He was kind of curious to see what these scruffy creatures did for a living. So far he had only seen farmers, guard/soldier-esque horses, and council members. Some merchants would make an interesting change.

Icabod
Icabod shook his head. “It's fine. That was a long time ago and she's learned to live with it. She just doesn't like wearing her brace all the time.” He explained.
The roan frowned at Siglavy’s next statement. Cloven hooves meant jack shit to Icabod. He had grown up in the mountains. He knew how to maneuver through each twist of the rocks and mud and snow. But, there was no point in arguing with the kirin. He had no reason to get mad over someone falsely thinking they were better than him simply because they were something else. Just the thought made Icabod chuckle. “Scenic route it is.” He smiled at Siglavy again. Icabod marched along with his head high. He certainly didn't notice his companion’s attempt at trying the grass. That was probably for the best. He might have had a snarky remark about it.
They took the path, which was usually a bit too slow for Icabod, but it gave them time to talk. “So, I hope War-Forged has been accomidating enough for you. I know a lot of us may seem like asses, but you get used to it. Besides, since you're such an outsider, they don't understand you yet. I'm sure you'll fit right in eventually.” He grinned. “And hey! Maybe you'll even make some friends.”

Siglavy
He was completely oblivious to Icabod's expression, which was just as well. The kirin was much too busy checking out each new plant they came across to pay much attention to his guide--after all, many of this strange mountain flora was totally foreign to him, and he'd only had a few brief glimpses of this stuff before. And he definitely hadn't been this way before. He was only half listening to Icabod as he sniffed cautiously at a purplish flower, then at a rock covered in some fuzzy-looking, patchy yellow stuff (lichen). It tasted rather bland when he tried to lick it, though.
Siglavy heard the other horse chuckle and felt his hide prickle in embarrassment. When he looked up, though, it was only just in time to see Icabod turning to smile back at him as they picked their way slowly down a pebbly path. He instinctively tried to crack an awkward smile back, but he felt like it came out as more of a grimace.
He tried not to flatten his ears when the other stallion started trying to continue the conversation. He wasn't entirely in the mood to be talking to some average-looking guard, but he didn't want to be too rude either or anything. There was a limit to everything, even as much as he looked down on these lowlanders. He took his eyes off the surrounding rocky woods and looked at Icabod.
"Asses is almost like an understatement," he said. "I quite honestly think you guys are a bit uncultured. I guess I can't expect much from equines who live on mountains, though. But you're definitely right about the others not understanding me. I wouldn't trust an outsider like myself either if I were you guys. I certainly don't belong here, of all places. As for making friends...I don't know if I'm ready for that yet. Maybe someday?" He furrowed his brows in thought. In a brief out-of-character moment, he muttered, "I'm not sure if I'd ever belong..."

Icabod
Icabod clenched his jaw at the stallion's words. Uncultured. He took a deep breath and let it out, both ways through his nose. The stallion swallowed his anger. Clearly he only thought that way, because he hadn't met anyone who proved otherwise yet. This had been the same thing that another Aodhian had thought. In the end, Icabod had proven him wrong as well. Certainly this one would be no different.
"I suppose I can see why you would think that." Icabod muttered. "But, I promise not all of us are a bunch of blockheads. Sure, I was an idiot when I was younger, but I've gotten around since my teens. I get what the world is like more than some here. And I've proven another Aodhian wrong about my people before." He smirked as he glanced at Siglavy. Even if the kirin was too stubborn to realize it now, he certainly would change his mind in time. Icabod would see to it.
Icabod's expression turned to that of pity at the final words of his companion. "I know it may seem like that now, but I'm certain you'll fit in eventually. Well, belong at least. Not necessarily fit in." Icabod wished he could have phrased that better. Now it seemed much worse than he'd intended. "And y'know what? If anyone gives ya any trouble for what you are, just tell me. I'll gladly kick anyone's ass for you." He grinned.

Siglavy
He dimly heard Icabod breathe heavily through his nose, which brought the kirin's attention back to the big stallion. When there didn't seem to be any sign of real hostility, he slowly allowed his attention to slide off again.
"Not all of us are blockheads," he heard Icabod insist from up ahead. Or rather, he was a few steps further down the mountain path. "...I'm certain you'll fit in eventually."
He made his way carefully around a large prickly shrub and snorted in disbelief.
"Pfft, yeah, I doubt that," he said. "All your legends and whatnot say otherwise. 'Kirins destroyed Sirith! Blah blah blah. Lord Ignacio was a devil! So many horses died! 'Tis their fault!' Etcetera. Even if they do accept me, it'd probably need to be another thousand years." He sighed heavily at the thought. Who knew reincarnation was this difficult? Damn Ignacio.
"By the way, I'm fairly sure I can take care of myself," he added. "I might not remember much about the past--my past--but I do know I was a soldier. I was trained by top-of-the-art masters. Heck, my people probably could've conquered Sirith if it weren't for the Smothering. Whatever that means... But, well, thanks for the sentiment anyway, I suppose." He awkwardly tried to return Icabod's grin to make himself seem a bit less of an asshole, but he wasn't sure if it worked like he thought. Soon enough, he was again only partially listening to Icabod's side of the conversation, but his intuition sensed the stallion's discomfort at his awkwardly phrased wording regardless. He decided to shrug it off. Then he paused.
"You said Aodhian? As in Valore?" He pricked his ears, feeling a strange quiver run up his spine. "No one told me my herd was still around! They made it sound like Aodh was...destroyed." He felt confusion flooding his mind. "They said King Soliel was dead? Who's the king now? Is it a kirin? Why didn't anyone take me back?!" He was starting to struggle to keep the shock out of his voice and keep pace at the same time. "I don't understand?"

Icabod
Icabod frowned at hearing his statements. He made everyone else out to sound like the bad guys. Icabod certainly wasn't a bad guy. But, he probably shouldn't blame Siglavy either way. He'd been forced back to life with no memories of his past, only stories told from the perspective of people who didn't care about him at all. He kept his voice low and calm. "Hey, the people that say that, they don't know what they're talking about. None of us were around for those awful times. It's all hearsay if ya ask me. I think the kirins were pretty damn cool. And Ignacio... Probably is bat-shit crazy, but he was looking out for his people either way." Icabod chuckled at his next statement. "Maybe we should make a religion to spread the good word of the kirins. That'll get everyone to stop hatin' ya!" He grinned at the joke, though he was pretty sure Siglavy wouldn't care.
The raider sighed. "What is wrong with everyone? Jeez, next time you poof into existence, make sure it's in a better place. Like... your home or Serora. They're nice fellows." Icabod shook his head. "Aodh has been goin' strong for as long as I can remember. A young pegasus colt, Amadeus, he's in charge now. I hear not many are too fond of him, but he is just a kid. Can't really blame him for being thrust onto the throne. Pretty sure Aodh's about the same as it's always been. Of course I don't think you guys used to keep slaves."
The stallion paused. They were at the bottom of the mountain. Skeldr Town wasn't too far from their current position. "Almost there."

Siglavy
"Well, I suppose Ignacio is--was?--a bit too...hot-headed," he admitted, giving a humorless laugh at his own joke. "I hope he's learned something though. His people will need him now more than ever if he's--if the other gods, that is--are letting us come back." He stared hard at Icabod's frizzy tail tip as if it were the Fire God himself. "Please...," he muttered under his breath, then continued, louder, "A religion would be funny I guess. If was a religion that got us into this mess, maybe religion can get us out of it." He was starting to feel as if maybe this wouldn't be such a bad existence...as long as he didn't try to dig too hard into his past. Certainly, Icabod seemed okay--better than some other horses he'd met so far, anyhow. Not that he was going to say so or anything. That was crossing a bit of a line.
They continued down the slope, where the treeline was gradually approaching the two equines.
"Kind of do wish I popped back to life in Eithne," he admitted absentmindedly. "But I'm sure Lord Ignacio has his reasons, even if his people may not enjoy the results, of course."
He furrowed his brows. "Amadeus? King? Amadeus?" He let the unfamiliar name roll around on his tongue.
"Then I suppose even good old Soliel couldn't escape the Smothering," he murmured sadly. "But a child? Great Ignacio! Poor kid. You say he's a peg-um-what...ah, pegasus? Hmm..." He felt an uncomfortable tingle at the term. Isn't that what they called Alya's children? A literal child of Alya, in the seat of King?
"Wow, I wonder why people don't like him, then," he said sarcastically as he made his way down the last stretch. His voice drowned out Icabod's at that point, making him inadvertently missing that last quieter bit about Aodh. When he caught up to the slightly larger stallion, they shared a moment of silence at the foot of the mountain--at last! They'd finally descended all the way, and although the ground still sloped slightly, Siglavy knew from his first trip here that it was just the uneven texture of the foothills. Huge trees stretched up before him, stabbing into the sky like dragon talons, with even taller trees in the surrounding distance. The earth felt almost alive, and he had a feeling that it would only intensify once he truly set out on the dusty path winding through the woods.
"Almost there," he heard Icabod say. A small part of him was a little loathe to enter the forest so soon, though.
"Ah, well, I've not had the pleasure of ever seeing such huge, ah...plants--I MEAN trees--before," he remarked honestly. "In Valore, we...we only had trees for landscaping and such. Never this big. Nope. That would've been a Class B violation of some property eyesore clause, I think. Not as bad as having a child defecate in your rich neighbor's mailbox, of course, but still pretty bad. I mean...imagine the leaves that one tree could shed in a year. Plus, no one else's tree would be that tall, and otherwise, we didn't have many natural trees. It was volcanic, I think? And dragons used people's shrubs as toothpicks a lot, so it really wouldn't have helped..." He couldn't really tell if Icabod thought his reaction funny or sad. "All this organic...stuff," he whispered, staring around. "And your people just live...in this salad?" He tilted his head quizzically as they began moving off again.

Icabod
Icabod smiled and nodded. "Certainly would be interesting. Religion is a... tough subject for some. I've heard of others who don't believe in the gods." He sighed. Then the topic shifted to Amadeus. He sighed. "Don't know what to tell ya about that one. He was thrust into the position after his parents' untimely passing. And yeah. He's not a kirin. But, really, it'd be kind of hard to put one on the throne since they haven't lived since your time and only came back with the birth of... I believe she's the king's niece or somethin' like that. I don't know too much about Aodh. Just little things I hear here and there." Icabod paused to think. "Have you met Hira's son? I heard he's a kirin. At least, that's the rumor."
Icabod gazed upon the trees beside Siglavy. He didn't often take the time to appreciate the tree filled scenery he saw every day. To him, they were just trees. Something he was born and raised around. The serene silence was broken with Siglavy's next words. Icabod glanced at him, bewildered. Then the raider burst out laughing. It got so bad that he was having trouble catching his breath.
"Oh sweet, Kaia! That..." He heaved in a breath. "You're really something else, Siglavy!" Icabod laughed harder. He took a few minutes to catch his breath before speaking again. "Jeez... Foals can be damn strange and eh... Haha!" He took another breath. "Not exactly the type of trees you eat, nor the kind that shed consistently. Those are pine trees, they keep their needles all year round. Shed their leaves every once in a while." He chuckled a few more times before continuing to walk.

Siglavy"There's those who don't believe in the gods?" he asked incredulously. "Blasphemous! Heresy! At least following one of the other siblings is better than not following any. Even if I don't recall having ever met Ignacio myself, I, er, used to know those who did!" He twitched his nose. "Although...if my kind has really been...extinct...all these years...I suppose you would be right. Hard to crown something that isn't there, though I seriously wonder how they ended up with a pegasus. Can't believe Ignacio would let one of Alya's kind take charge of his kingdom, considering how messy they are," he sniffed.
He pricked his ears at Icabod's next question. "Ah! Your little Forged prince!" he exclaimed, feeling a little tremor of excitement shoot down his spine. "Yes, I've seen him in passing, shuttered around the fortress as I am--" He hesitated briefly, ears laying flat for a second before continuing, "--and, well, yes, yes the rumors would be true. He is a little kirin all right." Siglavy snorted fondly at the memory of the little colt. "Don't you tell anyone that," he warned. "I'm not about to get on Lady Hira's bad side."
Siglavy wrinkled his nose as Icabod laughed--he wasn't going to give the other stallion the satisfaction of seeing his relief. He didn't need anyone's pity.
"Pine trees, huh?" he remarked, moving after Icabod who had started walking again. "They smell fairly nice, I suppose. All I can really say is that we definitely didn't have these pine trees in Eithne..."

Icabod
Icabod shrugged at his mentioning non-believers were insane. "It is hard to believe there are those out there who wouldn't believe with such strong evidence. You could have met a god in the flesh and I... I have a blessing, from Kaia. It was a damned awesome experience. I may not have seen her, but I knew she was there." He explained.
Icabod let a smile rise on his lips. So it was true. "I'd love to see him in the flesh someday, the kirin foal. Just his mother is something else, but he must be a sight to see." He grinned. Icabod began down the road, no longer needing to mention the trees. There were so many more exciting topics. He had so many things he wanted to know from the kirin.
"So... What else... What is it like being a kirin? I always thought it would be cool to be more than just a common horse. You're all so... pretty." Icabod explained. It sounded odd as he let the words flow from his mouth, if not a tad creepy. But, he'd always thought in those ways, so why not admit it to someone. Siglavy probably wouldn't care either way. He had a high-and-mighty air about him. But, Icabod wouldn't blame him for it. Mairon had been the same way. And who wouldn't be, given their standing in this world. "Do you have any recollection of what others were like? I um... I think it'd be cool to learn about the kirins more in-depth."

Siglavy
"I guess things have changed a lot since...then," he said. "As for me, I don't have any blessings yet. Never had time to ask Lord Ignacio for one--too busy training, and then the war happened...so I just never really bothered."
The two of them continued down the woody road, pine needs crunching slightly under hoof, while Icabod expressed interest in Grigori. "Maybe you'll get to see your little Forged prince when he's a bit older. He and his sister were quite little last I saw. Lady Hira sure is something, though. I've noticed that some don't seem to like her. She's got her hooves full with those two kids." He wrinkled his nose a bit as they passed the shadowy remains of a half-hidden cottage shape.
He allowed the forest to slide from focus to hear Icabod's next words: "So... What else... What is it like being a kirin? I always thought it would be cool to be more than just a common horse. You're all so... pretty. Do you have any recollection of what others were like? I um... I think it'd be cool to learn about the kirins more in-depth.""
"Pretty, huh?" Siglavy smirked at Icabod's obvious discomfort. "I wouldn't blame you for thinking so; you non-kirins look so drab compared to us, eh?" Then he dropped the playful tone and his face grew a little more serious. "Well, I don't know why anyone the likes of you would be interested, but it can't hurt to tell...I remember our king was King Soliel--not some loony fledgling pegasus. She was--very just and kind, a good king, never had any problems, unlike Lady Hira over here. We all liked Soliel. Cunning, but with just the right amount of kindness. Hmm...we were also very technologically advanced compared to...this kind of stuff." He nodded as they passed another cottage-y looking building, though this one was in much better shape. The number of these weird little woods houses seemed to be increasing as they got closer to--what was it again? Oh, right, Skeldr Town. He fancied he could almost see the gray stone and wood buildings looming out of the trees farther ahead.
"Let's see...what else... Well, I was a soldier, but there was another type of soldier--I guess--and they were like, a tier up from my rank, but also not really. Those who survived training became dragon riders, but I can't remember much of the details, unfortunately. The platoons trained at least once a week, even if we weren't fighting some war. Speaking of wars, though, that one that everyone is apparently still bitter about? That was probably the only real war we ever fought in, if I'm going to be honest. And started, I guess." The kirin rolled his shoulders uncomfortably. "I don't remember any other major battles, so... Um..." He tried to dig deeper, but all he encountered was a hazy blur.
"If it's sounding rather vague to you," he offered, "don't worry because it's even vaguer for myself. Let's just keep going, shall we?"

Icabod
Icabod wrinkled his nose at the drab comment. It seemed to come out in a more playful tone, but still. The raider had certainly seen non-kirins who looked just as stunning. The hippocampi especially, not that he would mention it to Siglavy. The stallion certainly wouldn't care.
Icabod paused for a moment to think. "A female king? How does that..." Certain Aodhian customs definitely threw off Icabod at times. He was so used to the generic gender-roles that his herd put on everyone. Of course there had been a few out-liars here and there. But, to him king was a male title. "I'm sorry, I just am not entirely used to Aodhian customs. I get that any gender can be a ruler, but why not call her a queen?"
The next topic was a much sadder one. War was never a pleasant thing. Luckily for him, Icabod had never had to fight in one. Not yet, at least. Sure he'd heard tales of harder times. There were times when his herd was just a bunch of scattered clans who were always fighting. The name for the collective group began to make much more sense to him. "I don't blame you for forgetting. I've heard that all the kirins that popped back up have forgotten most of their pasts. That's gotta suck. I'd hate to not remember my family or girlfriend or anything like that." He gave Siglavy a sympathetic look. The kirin would probably hate the pity, but Icabod felt bad for him nonetheless.

Siglavy
As the two equines descended the path, it seemed as if the number of cottages nestled in the undergrowth was increasing as well as their size. Many of them seemed to be in pristine condition, lacking vines and other creepers, but Siglavy still found it difficult to get used to seeing the ugly little stone buildings.
He flicked his ears lazily in Icabod's direction as the other horse spoke again. "A female king? How does that... I'm sorry, I just am not entirely used to Aodhian customs. I get that any gender can be a ruler, but why not call her a queen?"
"Gosh, so many questions," the kirin grumbled good-naturedly. "Well, why don't you guys call your King--I mean, Lord--a War 'Lady' then, hmm? Why call her a lord at all, instead of a king or emperor? Just because one was born a female doesn't affect what kind of ruler they would be. An evil horse would still be evil. A just horse would still be just."
He glanced over at the raider's next statement: "I've heard that all the kirins that popped back up have forgotten most of their pasts. That's gotta suck. I'd hate to not remember my family or girlfriend or anything like that." He ground his teeth together a bit in annoyance. It sounded like pity, and he didn't want it--but he quickly forced his expression to remain nonchalant. Empathy wasn't such a big deal, he reasoned with himself. That's all the lowlanders know, after all.
"No one remembers?" he asked instead. That certainly made him feel a bit more relieved. If he was the only one, then that would be a bit disastrous. And severely awkward. "As for family..." He frowned. He couldn't recall his parents' faces or their names, which made him feel uneasy. "Damned gods...excuse me and all...but still..."
The town's sudden appearance up ahead gave him the perfect excuse to change the subject. "Is that it?" he called, breaking into a brisk trot and pushing ahead. "Come on, walk faster!"

Icabod
Icabod tilted his head in consideration. "I... I guess that makes more sense when you put it that way. I think she still calls herself a warlord, though, because this herd is filled with sexist assholes she wants to put in their place." He joked. "But, I guess a title doesn't really need to be gendered. So uh, good for King Soleil. Very forward-thinking."
Icabod noticed the unease that seemed to spread on Siglavy's features. He probably shouldn't have brought that up. It had to be hard for the kirins. Empathy probably wasn't what they wanted. "Heh, yeah. I agree with ya on that one. The gods could'a done a better job. But, maybe they had a reason for it. Maybe a way to start fresh. Give you a new life in a new pla-" He was cut off by Siglavy's excitement.
Icabod couldn't help but smile at the hint of foal-like wonder that the kirin showed. "Yup, that's ole Skeldr Town for ya." The raider picked up a trot, quickly getting ahead of his impatient companion. He smirked back at him. "Where to first? I'm just here for the company, it's your day to do stuff." His heart started to race a little bit. He was going into town with a kirin at his side. If that wasn't cool, he didn't know what was.

Siglavy "Yes indeed, very good for King Soliel," the chimera kirin agreed distractedly. He gazed curiously down the slight incline and into the sprawling town. It was nothing like Valore had been in kirin days, but it still seemed quite well maintained. The town itself curved smoothly over the little hillocks and ripples in the mountainous geography, flooding outward like a sea of gray and brown. Oneans didn't bother altering the landscape, it seemed, in terms of plowing straight through hills and the like.
"Where to first? I'm just here for the company, it's your day to do stuff," he heard Icabod say.
The kirin couldn't help it--an excited little shudder ran down his spine as he scanned the variety of rooftops, some flat, some thatched, but many made of wood or stone. He briefly supposed that straw boughs would buckle under the weight of the snow come winter. Sure, their War-Forged towns were rough in comparison to the shadowy memories he retained of the glory days, but still. The last time he had been down there, it was when he was being smuggled haphazardly through the dark to avoid sentries because apparently risking a Raider was better than getting ambushed by some curious wolves. So he hadn't gotten a good look...and he would need to know the area if he was going to stay, right?
He took a few clumsy steps down the rugged hillside in mild shock. Where had that thought come from?
"Uhh--" he mumbled, momentarily speechless. "I--hmm--Uh, how about we walk around a bit first? I'd like to get a closer look at the, er, inhabitants around here, see how they act, you know?" He felt as if Icabod might be excited as well. Not every Raider got the chance to escort a kirin.
For all his efforts at trying not to look like an idiot, Siglavy successfully navigated down the pebbly hill, only just noticing the carved steps a little bit off to the side a moment later. "Oh, whoops." He tried not to grit his teeth but instead forced a laugh. "Guess I got a bit ahead of myself there, ha-ha. Come on!"
