Froya has heard whispers that her young shield sister Kathra is planning on making the dangerous trip to the summit of Mt. Skeldr, so she decides to investigate. On her way to the training yard she bumps into the multicolored valkyrie carrying climbing equipment with her.

Kathra slung the sack of climbing gear over her back and kicked on her cleated horseshoes. Adjusting her bracers and axe straps she trotted out of the barracks. She was slowly gaining mastery over her shapeshifting blessing, and knew it would soon be time to make the trip up to the same shrine her mother and father visited when she still was in the womb. Her parents had told her that the climb was dangerous to the untrained, for it was very tall and at the top the air was thinner than down here at the base. Today was the 2nd week for her, and she was used to the routine by now. She didn't need ropes or anything, Skeldr had a path, but she had other things inside. Weights, replacement cleats, medical equipment, things like that.
As she left the barracks she didn't notice Froya, accidentally bumping into the older Valkyrie. Glancing up she gave an apologetic smile
"Oh, sorry Froya, didn't see you there."
Not pausing, Kathra continued on, out of the war-lords place the barracks were left in, and down the path out of the town. She wondered what the real climb would be like, and who she would pray too. She knew it was most likely going to be Kaia, to thank her for honoring her with shapeshifting, and asking her for her blessing of protection. Though she would be remiss to not offer at least some message for Ayla, after all, she was just as important to the Forged as the earth mother.

Froya | Valkyrie
Skeldr Town was busy during fall, the cobbled streets thick with horses coming and going, pulling carts brimming with Onean crops. This was the time to stock up on food for the winter, to cash in on this year's harvest - an entire year's worth of preparation had led up to the event, and tensions were high in the marketplace as farmers and buyers bickered over prices, each trying to ensure they had enough to make it through Kaia's long, harsh winter.
Anika, being the adventurous filly that she was, found the whole affair to be rather exciting, and was ravenous at the thought of taking a closer look. A small, barely 3 month old foal however, would easily be swept away by the flood of traders -risking injury or worse-, and so she was told by her mother, uncle, the valkyries, and just about everyone else she knew, that she should most definitely not go down to the marketplace.
So naturally, this caused Anika to immediately scarper down the stone steps and throw herself into the commotion, her brother following anxiously in tow. Froya was the first to notice their absence, and went to recover the twins.
It was stressful, being bustled about and shoved as she snaked her way through the ever-changing crowd. Her calculating eyes roved over the turbulent mass as she tried to catch a glimpse of her liege’s heirs, with not even Grigori's brilliant scales betraying their whereabouts among the chaos. The Valkyries were already harried relentlessly by other forged, constantly belittled and made out to be the butt of tavern jokes, but now that Anika and Grigori were here, yet more fuel had been added to the fire.
‘Foalsitters’, they were being called, nothing more than over-glorified handmaidens who were not completely dumbfounded when it came to handling a weapon. Froya had to admit that there was some truth to the rumors, for it was not uncommon for one or more of the Hira’s elite to be preoccupied with keeping the foals out of trouble. Many of the Valkyries were becoming frustrated with the situation, but Froya had started to welcome the distraction. With opposition to Hira's rule growing stronger by the day and war brewing on the horizon, it was nice to occasionally attend to more... domestic affairs.
Nearly an hour passed before the mare managed to corral the siblings, Grigori had dived beneath Froya's legs when he spotted her, grateful to be rescued. He remained pressed heavily against her side as they made their way back to the fortress, and the Valkyrie had to take care not to step on him as they were jostled by the crowd. Anika however, beamed the whole way back and seemed quite pleased with herself, her short mane wild and disheveled from the expedition.
It was on her way back from returning the foals to their mother that Froya was met -rather clumsily-, by Kathra. Quickly recollecting herself, she gave Kathra a quick nod in greeting before watching curiously as the chimera walked on. The rather large collection of gear resting upon her sister-in-arms' back peaked her curiosity and she turned to trot away from the barracks, falling in line with Kathra.
"Has Hira assigned you to a mission?" she asked, gesturing towards the supplies the younger mare carried.

"Has Hira assigned you to a mission?"
The mare's voice was surprisingly close to Kathra as she looked over to see her shield-sister walking next to her. She sheepishly shook her head.
"No, no this is for my own training." she said simply with a smile. After a few more moments of silence she looked over. "Have you ever climbed Skeldr to visit the shrines at the peak?" she asked.
Kathra had never taken the pilgrimage herself, at least, not since leaving her mothers womb. She had heard the story many times, how her mother had taken the perilous journey up the slopes alone while pregnant with her. Murdok had been trusted with helping her father keep the Apana safe. In some ways, it was a really selfish move, her brother could have lost his mother and sister in one fell swoop if something had happened. However, it was a show of solidarity with his wife on her father's side, allowing her to journey to the summit alone so as she asked the goddesses to look upon their unborn child and see a potential inside. Kaia had seen that potential, and had blessed her and returned her mother home to her brother safely.
Now she was feeling that pull to visit them herself to thank Kaia, but she didn't feel ready, not yet.
