FEAR, THE AFTERMATH Breidan and Raksha
Post Chapter III Time of Day: Morning
It has been several weeks since the events of Chapter III, in which Breidan was among the first to see a kirin in Sirith's tunnels after their ancient demise. The colt has since then been clouded by fear, but the passing weeks have allowed him to slowly push this fear into the back of his mind and go about his daily routine. Unfortunately, when taking an assumed shortcut to school one day, the young colt ends up getting lost and wanders into a vacant part of city. There, he has the misfortune of encountering a kirin.

B R E I D A N "Being brave is all about being scared. You just keep on going despite it." __ __ __ __ He had a small piece of cloth tied around his haunches, acting as a pouch for his belongings as the winged colt trotted jovially through the streets. He was on his way to school again, having sucked up the courage for the first time in several weeks to go without any company. When comparing his mood to what it was a few weeks before, one could say that the colt had improved greatly. His concern for the recent appearance of a scaly kirin had been slowly slept back into the corners of his young mind, having been crowded in by all his other thoughts and otherwise coaxed into hiding thanks to comforting words by his adoptive parents.
The child was not completely enraptured by his train of thought to forget that day though. Breidan had not set hoof near Kaia's Shrine since that day. And there had been days and nights were the colt could not help but feel as though a creature like Beatrice could emerge from just around the street corner.
But speaking of streets! The little colt was awfully close to being late for class. Every so often his trot picked up into a canter, and his blue eyes darted around for some sort of path that might cut the time it took to reach the school. At last, an alleyway. Nariah was free of any trees or bushes for colt to cut across when searching for an easier path way, making it very easy to travel over unpaved terrain. Yet, it was sometimes just as labyrinthine as the Labyrinth itself.
As Breidan would soon find out. After turning down that very unfamiliar alleyway, the structures lining the street gradually grew more and more empty, and the shouts and chatter of other Breimans became less and less audible. He'd make one turn after another, and then second guess himself, wondering if he should go back.
But, the more alleyways Breidan went down, the more and more he began to realize he was lost. The walls seemed to encroach on him. It was dark, and empty--and he thought he heard a bat cry out.
"Hello...!" Breidan sharply turned around, the items in his pouch jostling beneath his wings. He felt his ears fold against the outline of his little skull when he realized he could only hear his own echo. "Yuki...? Yuki!"

Raksha|Breim|Outsider
You need never feel broken again Sometimes darkness Can show you the light
The clopping of cloven hooves echoed off the walls of the cave. With each step the annoying sound accompanied her and made her turn her head around often to check if someone was walking behind her. But each time she did so, the dark tunnel behind her was hollow.
Her heart was pounding heavy in her chest and the mere knowledge of the fact that she was so far beneath the surface was nightmarish for her. It just felt wrong. She remembered the sky and the warm rays of the sun...the only light down here came from sparsely placed lanterns. Or rather glowing crystals, not even real lanterns. No warming fire, just this unnatural light.
In the few days after her...arrival here, her body had fully remembered how it was to be alive. Something she couldn’t claim for her mind. Raksha knew that she died. She definitely shouldn’t be here and especially not at this terrible place! She shook her head in frustration and once more her antlers touched the cave walls beside her with a nasty scraping noise. The main tunnels were large, but many of the smaller ones were just not made for a large horse like her, especially when this already big horse additionally had a pair of antlers. However for the moment she even prefered those claustrophobic tunnels over the the main city. She had arrived yesterday and after her guide left her she just wanted to get into a more open space and the bright city was just in front of her. Only a few hours later she changed her mind. Every single horse she came across stared at her, most of them with hate or fear in their eyes, some of them accusing for whatever reason. She heard the words “report her to the authorities” more than once and after a while it was enough. She turned and made her way back to the outskirts of the city. It was darker there, yes, but also more quiet. Raksha had no idea where to go but she had to do something. Her small reserve of food and water was almost gone and she couldn’t just wander in this tunnels alone forever. But a decision could wait until tomorrow. Reluctantly she searched for a bit larger tunnel to sleep in. Another night on the cold and hard stone floor. How enchanting.
She was shaken out of their sleep the next morning when she heard some strange noises. Instinctively she jumped to her hooves and looked around her. Was it still night, or day? She couldn’t tell for it was as dark as always. A scream followed the strange rattling sounds and made her hair stand on end. It sounded like someone was calling a name and the voice appeared young - lost.and scared. After some moments she decided to go after the voice. “Hello?! Who is there?” she called back into the darkness ahead of her. This tunnels probably were not used that often, for only a few glowing crystals brought some sparse light. The only thing she could see, was a small, dark silhouette as she turned around the next corner.

B R E I D A N "Being brave is all about being scared. You just keep on going despite it." __ __ __ __ "Yuki!" He cried again, soft coal hooves clopping against the earth. He swirled around, and raised his knotted, disheveled tail in the air, sharp ears perked forward at the sound of much heavier hoofsteps coming down the alleyway. All the sudden, the winged colt went silent, not knowing if the approaching newcomer was a stranger or not. "Who's there?" He gasped.
He found himself being drawn subconsciously closer to one of the alley walls. Beside him was a house in a rather decrepit state, it's body built into the cave wall and it's roof stretching high toward the tunnel ceiling. It's massive height seemed intimidating...daunting, even, as was the fact that it was completely unlit.
A voice. Breidan's ears twitched. "Hello?!" The winged youth cried back again. A sense of pride kept him from admitting that he had gotten lost or--even that he was scared, but sadly a small bit of cowardice had carried into Breidan's voice. The colt trotted quickly toward the source, trying to make out their figure in the shadows.
He couldn't make out their form quite as well in this dark alleyway, but he could tell that they were big. A small, inner hope flickered in his heart that it might be his adoptive mother and uncle, but it quickly went away as soon as he noticed the absence of a second head. He came just a little closer. "I-I can't see you all that well...do you know how to get back to the main city?"

Raksha|Breim|Outsider
You need never feel broken again Sometimes darkness Can show you the light
For a moment the tunnels turned into silence again, then the clopping started again. Faster this time and the noise came closer and closer. After some moments the tiny equine stood before her but she could hardly see more than a dark shape. The next time she would come across one of those glowing crystals she would rip it out of the stone and take it with her. If more tunnels were as dark she could need a permanent light source. “I can’t see much either” she snorted and lowered her head a little bit. “So you are lost huh?” she asked and for once she was glad that the darkness veiled her antlers for the moment. “Well...I won’t guarantee anything, but I think that I can remember the way back to the main city” She had a really good memory...well at least since her rebirth, and should be able to find the way. Or at least she hoped so. If not they would probably get even more lost. Actually Raksha hadn’t planned to head back to the city any soon, but she couldn’t leave that young horse alone here. “Come, follow me.” she ordered and walked past him. They came across a house that was build into the cave wall and once more the kirin wondered how anyone could life down here, without the warm sun above them or the stars. Oh how she missed the sky. “What is your name?” she wanted to know while she tried to remember the correct way. Basically they just had to use the better illuminated tunnels.

B R E I D A N "Being brave is all about being scared. You just keep on going despite it." __ __ __ __ How ironic, how the darkness cloaked their figures and hid each others faces from each other like a shadowy masquerade. The colt stood quietly, blue eyes having failed to make out the faint silhouettes of antlers and scales in this blackness. For now, that would serve in his companions favor--and perhaps it was for the better, after all. His small, uneven wings stretched out ever so slightly, displaying the missing primaries and secondaries as a result of the flames that had singed them three months before. The colt swayed them forwards in greeting.
"B-Breidan." He replied hesitantly, furrowing his brows. Still the child felt too proud to answer to her question and admit that he was ultimately lost. He already felt petty for making such a mistake, and he'd rather not sacrifice more of his dignity! Instinctively the winged child gripped the prayer idol dangling from his neck in mental embrace, trying to keep down any cowardice that he might have felt for wandering in these dark corridors.
"Do you know Preistess Yuki and the Magi Hikaru? At Argus's shrine?" Breidan asked in a meek voice as he tailed after the larger mare. "They're my caretakers. I jus'...I just wanted to take a shortcut to school..." Okay, so he'll admit that much. Given how empty and desolate this area seemed, Breidan began to wonder if this part of town was scorched by the dragons during Aodh's visit. He hated to believe that it was.

Raksha|Breim|Outsider
You need never feel broken again Sometimes darkness Can show you the light
When the colt swayed his wings forward in greeting, Raksha noticed for the first time that he was a pegasus. Or at least that was what she assumed. Maybe it was because of the darkness but they appeared a little bit...odd,out of order. As if some feathers were ripped out randomly. At least the two silhouettes looked a little different from each other. Whatever. She wouldn’t ask him right now. Maybe later.
“B-Breidan?” she asked and without her even noticing it a little tone of mockery sneaked into her voice. “I’m..Raksha.” It almost sounded like a question. That was her name right? It was the first thing that came to her mind when she woke up. She just assumed that it was hers.
After some time she wasn’t so sure anymore that they were walking into the right direction, but she was too proud to admit it. She just continued going further, every new step as confident as the last one. “What is a Magi?” she asked curious but frustrated at the same time due to the fact that a little colt knew something she hadn’t heard of yet. “I’m sorry, but I don’t know them. And I neither know the way to the shrine, nor to your school.” she had to admit.
Raksha was sure that they should be almost out of this labyrinth, just around the next corner… Aaand she was wrong. The light she had seen didn’t came from the city. They stood before a large, high cave and along the walls hang tiny crystals, not as big as the magically imbued ones she had seen before. This ones seemed to be naturally. They dipped the whole cavern into a dull, blue light. On the cave’s ceiling they almost looked like stars and Raksha just lifted her head and stared above. She was completely fascinated by that unexpected beauty down here. No it wasn’t the way out. It was better. And for a moment she asked herself when the last time was that she had seen the stars, the real stars. “Maybe I got lost, too.” she said silently.

B R E I D A N "Being brave is all about being scared. You just keep on going despite it." __ __ __ __ The feathers on his back ruffled slightly as they tried to sort themselves out. Breidan snorted and shook his body, long, gangly legs keeping his form from nearly toppling over. "Yeah." He had noticed the slight mocking in her tone, but he paid no mind to it. It only prompted him to stuff his worry down his throat and carry a more confident tone. The colt raised his disheveled tail and walked with a little more gusto.
"You don't know what a Magi is? So, are you new here?" Outsiders and vagabonds were met with little discomfort by Breidan, usually. So long as he wasn't aware that they were Aodhian or even remotely associated with the herd, then usually he took that information without much uproar. "They take care'a the temples here. Though I guess you can say my caretakers double as a Priestess and a magi. They're conjoined twins!"
Breidan trotted ahead, a little more at ease despite his situation. "Thas' aw'right. I think is' soon as we get back to the main city, I can find my way from there." While trotting ahead, the winged youth decided to maintain conversation. "So if you're not a Breiman, doezzat' mean you've seen what's above the tunnels? Have you seen it snow before?"
Oh. Breidan's mouth made an unpleasant 'o' shape as the two of them emerged into a much larger cavern, dimly illuminated by blue crystals. The brilliant sight was off-putting at first. "This isn' the main city. I guess I might be late for school." He swallowed a little more. Oh no, what if we're in the Labyrinth? I've never been in the tunnels outside Nariah!
Yet his concern was short-lived, as the ten year-old's mingling attention span became fixated on the ceiling. "They kinda look like glowworms!" He chirped impulsively. "My mother would say that glow worms often grew around water!"

“Yes...I’m really new here.” she said a little dryly. New was an very understated expression for that. “I mean...I arrived at Nariah yesterday. It was all a little...overwhelming. That’s why I ended up here in that tunnels” she admitted. It wasn’t a lie, just not the whole truth either.
“Conjoined twins, really? That’s interesting.” she replied and turned her head to the little colt. Magi, caretaker for the shrines. Stored. Suddenly something else dawned her. He was always speaking from caretakers, not from parents. Maybe it was something normal in Breim? That children lived with caretakers instead of a family? Raksha couldn’t remember to know something about that or not. She decided not to ask him about it, just in case that he lived with them for some other reason.
“I...honestly I don’t know how the land above this tunnels look. I can’t even remember if I have ever seen snow.” Now a little frustration mixed into her voice. “I...kinda lost my memory.”
For the first time a silent and rusty laugh left her mouth. “I’m sorry. We will find the way, I promise but yeah...you probably miss the school for today” Her gaze went back to the ceiling and for the first time since her awakening she didn’t felt like she was buried alive down here. “Glowworms? Do you think that somewhere here could be water?” she asked him. Glowworms...for her it looked more like the sky at night. “Breidan, have you ever seen the stars?”

B R E I D A N "Being brave is all about being scared. You just keep on going despite it." __ __ __ __ "Well...so, where are you from then?" Breidan trotted a little further, until he stood at the center of the cave. The winged youth was still fixated on the ceiling as he spoke. "A'mean...mother says you usually have to go through the tunnels to get here in the first place." He thought aloud.
The winged colt glanced over his shoulder briefly back at her, not even catching a full glimpse before staring at the walls again. "But...well, what do I know, anyways. I've never set hoof outside Nariah." He was jealous. He had never seen the sun, never felt the rain on his feathers, never felt the wind or the bitter cold chill his pelt. He had never felt the soft grass under his hooves. No, instead he had the pleasure--or misfortune--of feeling hot coals on his back.
There was a slow lower of the head. He understood. It must have been weird to lose one's memory, and be uncertain if whether or not you've seen or felt something before. Had she been in a rock slide? Had she survived a collapsed tunnel, and that was why she couldn't remember? Breidan swallowed a little. "No, like I said, I've never even set hoof outside Nariah before. Mother says the Labyrinth is really dangerous to horses who don't know them..."
And even those who did weren't safe. As was the case with his father, as he had been told.
"But, I'd like to see it someday. I'd like to see it snow!" The colt whirled around to face her, a bright smile and enthusiasm absolutely shining in his big blue eyes.
Oh, how it all faded to quickly.
Gasp. Under the dim blue light, her figure had become clear. A beautiful taffy blue pelt, worthy of notice from any horse, but that wasn't what Breidan was staring at. Pale, curved antlers. Pink, rosy scales. Scales. Shining, shimmering, draconic SCALES. Breidan felt his stomach twist in on him.
That bright smile twisted into a horrified gasp. His feathers stood on end, ruffling until they looked uncomfortably raised off of his back. Mental embrace desperately clutched the pendant roped around his neck. "Y-you're--"
AAAAAAAAAAAAGH! Breidan spun around, heading for the opposite side of the cave blindly in fear. But something snagged him, and jolted him right at the fetlock of his back leg, and suddenly the foal fell straight forward and landed on his chin and underbelly with a loud THWACK. He didn't need to look behind him to tell what had happened, and he didn't even dare to. All it took was a single pull to figure out that his hoof had been wedged between the uneven rocks jutting from the floor.
"GET AWAY FROM ME! Go away! HELP!" He cried out, little black wings flapping frantically in terror. "Please don't--please don't hurt me!"

Raksha|Breim|Outsider
You need never feel broken again Sometimes darkness Can show you the light
“Your mother is probably right, however I don’t came through the tunnels. I was just...there. It sound silly but that is what happened. I think…” She told him because she had no idea that things like this had happened before in Breim. After she woke up she heard of other Kirins here, but no one told her that all of them just appeared out of nowhere, just like her.
For her it was strange to hear that the horses of this herd spent their lives mostly down here, in the tunnels, far away from the sky. “No worries, I’m sure you will see more from the world when you are older.” She could tell him that snow only was wet, cold and something she had no problem with never seeing again, but it was better if the child disillusioned himself later.
A slight smile appeared on her face and she turned her gaze towards the colt just in time to see his expression changing drastically in the matter of one blink. One second she looked into trustworthy, big blue eyes. Then suddenly his whole face beamed terror and panic. And for one, short moment, Raksha believed that he had seen something terrible, monstrous, behind her, but all so soon the reality dawned her. Breidan was staring at her. She was the monster.
Rakshas fur stood on end when she saw the tormented glance in his eyes. His look felt like a knife and it was hurtful to know that he reacted that way just because he had realised what she was.
The Blue Roan suddenly spun around and cantered away from her in blind fear. “Wait!” she called after him but before he even came that far, the tiny colt stumbled and fell over. Breidan struggled to get on his feet but somehow he couldn’t and only as Raksha came closer she identified the reason for that. His fetlock was stuck and he looked as helpless as a fish on land. He screamed at her to stay away. She walked towards him.
"Please don't--please don't hurt me!" Raksha couldn’t believe how much that few words of a tiny bird she knew for like half an hour could hurt her so much. But it did. Slowly, to not scare him any more than he already was, she walked in front of him and lowered her head a little bit. She had planned to speak in a soft voice, to calm him down, but somehow she couldn’t manage to do that. Raksha was...angry and upset. “STOP moving you little fool! You will only break your thin legs with that.” she snarled. “I want you to look at me know. Look. at. me.” The large kirin’s eyes bore into Breidan’s. “I don’t know what happened to you, or what they told you to make you go crazy like that, but I want you to use your brain, right now. Before you saw what I am, you completely trusted me. And did I hurt you? Did I? No. Why should I now? I’m a Kirin, yes. But a few minutes ago you had no problem trusting me, why now?” she wanted to know and took a quick look on his stuck hind leg. “You have two options and I want you to consider exactly what you want me to do. I could either walk away and leave you alone here, or I could help you to get on your feet again and we keep looking for the way out. What do you want?” she asked urgently.

B R E I D A N "Being brave is all about being scared. You just keep on going despite it." __ __ __ __ "NO!" At this point the foal had stopped struggling, his entire crippled form frozen stiff. His wings, still ruffled, curled around his meek form, hiding his bristling shoulders and face from view. His forelegs were tucked in, almost as though the child had gone into a fetal position to protect himself. This is not happening. This was not happening. He clutched the delicate prayer idol tighter in his telekinetic grasp, silently praying to himself that the MONSTER would go away. That the VISIONS would go away. But they did not.
Breidan's breath hitched, heart sucking up into his neck for about a single moment at Raksha's outcries. He didn't dare speak protest against her words, but they did not help. They only made his stomach plunge further with FEAR. Raksha's demands were daunting, frightening, and the command in her voice finally beckoned him to take one long glance into her eyes.
It couldn't last. Oh, it couldn't last! He looked into those eyes and saw her anger. He looked at the scales upon her nose and back and quivered. The visions of dragons and dancing flames, they'd all come rushing back. Just like with Beatrice before, they'd all come back to haunt him.
He didn't even look away before he broke into a wail. The colt pulled his head away and buried it into his forelegs, winged form shaking where it lay. "I-I can't--I can't! Motherrrr..." He wouldn't deny her offer to help, but he didn't necessarily approve of it either. It was up to her now, whether to leave him there or help him up.

The mare released a deep, frustrated breath as the colt simply stopped moving. He lay there, frozen in fear. Like a mouse that saw the shadow of a hawk above her. After her demand he lifted his head again for a moment and looked at her with hollow eyes. He was here, but his thoughts seemed to be elsewhere. As if he was waiting for something terrible to happen.
When he buried his head again between his forelegs, Raksha took a step back and then walked around him to try to free his fetlock. “Your mother isn’t here Breidan. Terrible things happen but I won’t hurt you” she said emotionless.
“Lay still. Try to relax a little, I need to move your leg to get it out there but if you try to pull it away you could hurt yourself.” It was just meant as an advice, but again there was always the slight trace of an commanding undertone in her voice. With her telekinesis she carefully tried to free his fetlock and while she did so Raksha wondered what the little colt had experienced to be scared that much just by her appearance. “You are scared of what I am, but do you know what I am scared of? This place. With all those earth and stone around me. I’m waiting for the moment that this earth will bury me. When I woke up I was blind of fear and I ran. But running away made it only worse. The tunnels became smaller and my fear only increased. You can’t run away from your angst, you have to find away to live with it.” she paused for a moment to concentrate a little more on her task. “I died, Breidan. And I don’t mean simply sleeping in peacefully and never wake up again. Violently. I know what pain and fear is. But you can’t allow your fear to take over you.” With that words she finally pulled his fetlock out of the rocks and did a step backwards, away from him. “What happened to you? Why do you fear me so much? Why does everyone look at me like I’m the worst they have ever met?” she wanted to know.

B R E I D A N "Being brave is all about being scared. You just keep on going despite it." __ __ __ __ He kept wailing. Wailing out of instinct, wailing out of drive, and as much as he wanted to yell and shout and breathe words of courage like he usually did in the face of something terrifying, but he had been exposed to his weakness. The face of a beast that reminded him of the flames three months before.
In truth, Raksha herself wasn't to blame for his fear. Even if in some distant past, some forgotten era that neither of them had seen--or recalled, she had trod on the freshly ravaged plains of Argus's land--Raksha wasn't to blame. A herd proud enough to call themselves Aodhians, sons and daughters of Ignacio, had done this, and the event that took away his family replayed in his mind against his own volition each time he glanced at those shiny dragon scales.
Slowly, Breidan's wails softened into weak coos and hiccups, warm, wet tears having trickled into the downy feathers beneath his eyes and snot still dripping from his nose. He wasn't a very pretty crier, and he was still sniffling it all back up.
"Y-you sound like my aunt Mag," He finally hiccuped. It may not of looked like it but he did take in the kirin's words, savored them, and recalled memories of the beautiful mare, the headstrong, willing aunt who often tried to push Breidan past his own fears.
As soon as the colt's fetlock had been freed, he kicked up and onto his hooves again. Unfortunately the swift motion of falling down hard onto the floor had pulled on his leg, and his entire right flank felt sore. Breidan put his injured hoof in a resting position.
The winged pegasus was calmer now, but still unable to look the kirin in the eyes. What had she said? Was all of it real? It almost sounded dreamlike, too impossible to even occur. Died? Violently? Amnesia?
"I-I-I...You don't...?" She didn't know? Of course she wouldn't, if her claims that she lost her memory were true. Breidan almost seemed horrified to even have to answer her. The child stammered. "Yuh-you...you're supposed to be gone. Kirins are supposed to be ghost stories!" He cried out. "Ignacio and the kirins are what destroyed our herd! It's why we're down in the tunnels...we didn't even do anything..."
And then, his pitiful voice changed to venom. Anger. Maybe not at her, but at something. Aodhians, as he recalled the events that occurred three months before. "Aodh came back three months ago. Th-their king brought dragons. Then th-there was an explosion, and the dragons started to burn down everything...
They took mother. They took Aunt Mag. They tried to save me, and I tried to run for help and I...I came back and the flames had already taken them!" The little roan stamped one hoof down harshly against the floor. "It's all because of them! All because of Aodh! We didn't even do anything! Mother didn't do anything, Aunt Magdeline...what did they do for Ignacio to take them both away?! Our house got burn't down, my neighbor's house got burn't down...it's why s'much of the city is gone!"
Breidan squeezed his eyes shut. "And it jus'...won't leave me alone. I'm trying to be brave, for my mother, for Yuki and Hikaru...but they won't leave me alone!" The visions. The visions were still haunting him.

Raksha|Breim|Outsider
You need never feel broken again Sometimes darkness Can show you the light
Her ears folded flat against her neck as the small colt kept wailing. She felt helpless in the situation and had no idea what to do. Raksha was sure that she had no own foals in her old life. She was definitely lacking understanding for a young horse's mind and feelings.
For a moment, the large mare stared down at her cloven hooves and the pebbly ground they stood on. There she was, yelling at a child that was already horror-stricken by her. Well done. When he finally decided to talk to her again, she raised her gaze and looked at him. “Is that so?” she asked with a weak smile. She could hear so many feelings in his voice, but the strongest was grief. The colt raised to his hooves but he kept himself in a restrictive posture to avoid pain. Nonetheless he stood here before her. After all he had experienced he had the courage to stay here. He is stronger than he knows, she thought.
She had no idea what happened all those years ago, why she had died and the mare had also no idea why she was back now. But there was this anger that raised up in her as he talked like that about Ignacio. “That is your story. The fact is that those things lie far in the past and stories can get warped over time.” she said in return. Raksha was unwilling to discuss the past with him, for neither him nor her knew much about it. She had just this strong feeling to defend her god and her people.
However as Breidan started to talk about current events, she was more than eager to listen. Especially the word “dragon” triggered something in her. The name Cyrill rushed through her mind, followed by the quick and blurry image of blue scales. As fast as the image came, it was already gone again. She was eager to ask him about the dragons, but after the things he just had told her it was obvious that he wouldn’t wanna talk about them.
“I’m so sorry for your loss Breidan. No one can replace what you have lost, or any other of the citizens of Nariah. I...I wasn’t here when all this happened. I don’t know anything about this modern Aodh and his intentions.” There was nothing she could say or do to help him.
“What you have gone through is terrible. No child should see the things you have seen. But there is no way to make it undone. The memories won’t go away, but you will learn to life with them. I’m sorry but I can’t give you a good advise. You will have to find your own way to handle this.” Raksha knew that this wasn’t helpful at all, but only time could heal his wounds. The physical and emotional ones. She herself had to cope with a lot of things and still had no idea where to go next. What would she do after the little colt was back at the city? Raksha had no answer for that.

B R E I D A N "Being brave is all about being scared. You just keep on going despite it." __ __ __ __ "But they say it's the truth!" Breidan argued. So many tomes argued it in their writings. So many of his teachers asserted what was real to him. The kirins had taken Argus's herd without warning, and scorched Sirith, so the legend says. They had forced his mother's ancestors into the tunnels, the only place they felt was safe. The only place, they felt, flame could not flourish.
Breidan released quick, uneven breaths through his nose, little heart still racing through his chest as fast as the memories were racing through his mind. The colt's head was low, neck stiff, wings drooping ever so slightly off his back sadly as he took in Raksha's words. His mouth became a crooked, twisted frown in a mixture of emotions--but mostly, sorrow.
He had to be brave. He had to stand up. Even if she was a kirin, a creature viewed as a demon among his herd...even a creature like her spoke wise words. "...If you really don't remember...if you don't know how or why or what happened before you got here...th-then you won't be mean, will you?" He sniffled. "Please, don't be mean to our herd...Please don't be mean to Yuki and Hikaru."
He took a single glance up at the kirin again, when he recalled another, a much younger one, who he saw weeks before. "...You're...you're not the first one I've seen. I'm not sure if I'm sposed to share this but, there's a little one who looks like you. A kirin, I mean. I saw her at Kaia's Shrine in Nariah..."
He swallowed a little. "M-maybe it...maybe I can ask Yuki and Hikaru to show you the way. I don't remember how to get there, but they should know...when we find our way back, I-I mean..."

“Because they think that this is the truth. No one ever questioned that opinion for all that were present that day are dead. Well not all of them are dead anymore but you know what I mean” she said suppressed the urge to discuss this any further with him. Raksha had the instinct to defend her god and her kin, but without any good arguments ,due to her memory loss, it wouldn’t be much of a debate. Maybe she should work on that problem first. There had to be a way to restore her memories. It had to be possible. But first she had to make sure that Breidan would return home safely. He calmed down slowly but she could tell that he still felt more than uncomfortable in her around her. And that was probably the broadest understatement ever.
“I really don’t remember. I am no liar. And I promise that I won’t be mean, at least not on purpose and I won’t hurt you or your caretakers.” the mare assured him. “But I will defend myself if I have to.Until now the members of your herd weren’t that nice to me...However I can understand why. Your knowledge of history is so full of lies and what happened to this city three months ago is terrible. They have to distrust me.” she concluded thoughtful and spoke rather to herself than to the colt.
Rakshas head snapped around to the pegasus as he spoke from another Kirin. The guide that had let her to Nariah already told her unintentionally that there were more of her kin in Breim, but now she had a real change to find one of them. “Really? You would do that for me? Thank you Breidan.” she thanked him excitedly. Maybe the others knew how to recall their memories. Or maybe she was the only one with a memory loss and they could answer her questions? There had to be a reason that her kin was reborn. Ignacio had to have a plan for them.
“Can you walk, or do I have to carry you?” she asked and pointed with her muzzle in the direction of his injured hind leg. “I think I know where we took a wrong turn. We just have to go back to that point and then we should be able to find the right tunnel back to the city. Despite everything I think you will definitely miss school today”

B R E I D A N "Being brave is all about being scared. You just keep on going despite it." __ __ __ __ "B-but, I don't think I am lying....mother would never lie to me..." Breidan spoke much softer this time, moreso to himself than to Raksha. He had been taught so much about Breiman history, and about the God's War and the stories of how the kirins once ravaged his homeland. They couldn't be lying could they? No, Breidan had to reassure himself. He believed he was in the right and that the kirin mare was the confused one here--but then again, it wasn't like he could blame her if she truly lost her memory.
The little colt sniffled audibly, still trying to gather himself back up again. Snot was still dribbling down his nose and his warm, salty tears had tried onto his feathers now. The child wiped his snout against his foreleg, and shook his unsettled wings, letting them fold against his back. They were uncomfortably tight against his sides.
"No, I can walk..." It was a poor lie. Breidan may have twisted his leg from the fall, but he was too stubborn to admit that, nor very willing to accept help from a kirin. He allowed her to guide him through these tunnels, she had that much; but Breidan was far from trusting her quite yet.
"N-no it's...it's okay," He sniffled, trying to force a very nervous titter. "I don't think I wanna go to school today, anyways." Having been so shaken up, all Breidan wanted to do was head home and get himself comfortable on the futon, maybe with some blankets and something warm to drink. The boy was9 scarcely able to concentrate enough for school after this mishap.
He limped slightly toward the cave entryway, avoiding eye-contact. Mayhaps, if she was being honest, everything would turn out alright. Mayhaps, neither one of them would become more lost than they already have.

“It’s okay. She wouldn’t even know that she is lying, for as I said, the truth can get easily distort over so many years” she replied softly, sensitive not to upset the little colt once more. He had just calmed down and hopefully wouldn’t panic again.
Raksha glanced quickly at Breidan’s injured hind leg. The slim ankle was a little bit swollen. Nothing that would take long to heal, but right now it would probably hurt quite a lot. Despite this the colt insisted to walk on his own and the large mare suppressed an amused smile as he limped past her. After all he was gone through and his fear he still stood here, still too proud to take any more help from her than necessary. He was bold. Well and stubborn.
“Alright then. If you need some rest, tell me. It was a little bit much today for a young horse like you and we still have some way to go. But don’t worry, you’ll be back home in no time.” And this time she actually was really sure about the way. She had turned to the wrong tunnel once, and now they took the right one. In her opinion they should reach the outskirts of Nariah in maybe half an hour. Or maybe a few minutes more, due to their slow walking tempo. “Please tell me if your leg hurts too much. If you overstress it, it will only take much longer to heal.”
The Kirin mare turned silent again and drifted off in her own thoughts again. Sooner or later she had to return to the city. Just running around in that damn tunnel maze forever was no option for her, but on the other hand Raksha felt no urge to get back to crowded streets of horses that would mostly react to her appearance the same way as Breidan did.
