Muiris Large clouds and subtle wisps drifted slowly overhead, a soft breeze tangling with the bright green leaves of the trees that lined the worn path of the War Lord's Road. The calls and songs of birds could be heard, echoing back and forth as they searched for their nests and warded off unexpected guests. Squirrels circled tree trunks. Rabbits munched on long grass. What could have been a peaceful afternoon was anything but, though, as the large Raider found himself on edge at every rustle of a bush or every snap of a branch. Since the attack only a few days prior, Muiris found himself in a state of mind that he would rather not be in. He rarely slept, worry and anger driving his nerves to the sky whenever he tried to clear his mind. Normally, he prided himself in behind able to look at such a situation calmly, but they had hurt - not one, but two - of his closest friends, not to mention his nephew, whom he was relieved was still alive. No, this time an attack against his herd had gotten personal and he was ready to spill blood. However, he knew how reckless it was to go after them alone.. so here he was, easing his way down the War Lord's Road on patrol. As much as he wanted to stay back with Ezmeralda, he knew he would drive himself crazy without working. His dark amber eyes scanned the treeline, spotting the bright white fur of his familiar every now and then as she scouted ahead through the foliage. His breath was slow, his ears on a swivel. One would not know the storm raging inside of him, had they looked upon his stoic features. His attention was suddenly grabbed by the sound of a familiar growl, his hooves planting in place as he searched for his wolf companion. His telekinetic grip touched the handle of his war hammer at his side, his muscles tense as he scanned the direction he had heard her grown. Once he spotted her form, he slowly started inching his way toward it, pushing low-hanging branches out of his way quietly. His hair stood on end, his breath heavy in his lungs. Adrenaline coursed through him as he expected the worst..
Brown fur suddenly hopped out in a panic, flying past Muiris and shuffling across the road before diving under a bush. Avonaco darted after it, paws and claws flying as she scrambled after the small animal. Muiris watched, his eyes widening ever so slightly before he let out the deep breath he didnt know he was holding.
"Avon! Why are you growling at a rabbit??" The stallion snorted, lips pulling down in a frown. The wolf turned back at the sound of her name, tongue lolled out to the side and tail wagging behind her. Muiris sighed and rolled his eyes, hopping back onto the beaten bath continuing on his way. Avon glanced back to where her prey had disappeared before stepping in line with a slow trot to keep up with her master.

ITHRAN Vagabond | Vindicator
"A wise man fears three things: the sea at storm, a night with no moon, and the anger of a gentle man." Ithran walked cautiously through the brush and low foliage alongside the War Lord's Road. He was just inside the treeline, hidden from view but close enough to follow the road should it turn slightly. Birds chirped peacefully in the warm noon air, and clouds drifted peacefully overhead. Warm breezes stirred the leaves, making a constant rustling, and insects buzzed in the surrounding bushes. The sound of his hooves on the soft turf added a slight percussive note to the peaceful melodies.
Ordinarily, he'd have been singing, adding a personal touch to nature's songs. Today, though, he was quiet. The War-Forged had been tense these past few weeks, and had stepped up their patrols. A month ago Ithran would have been comfortable walking on the Road itself, knowing that, even as a stranger, he wouldn't be questioned. A few days ago he'd had a close brush with a patrol, though, so he was more cautious.
He didn't have any particular reason to be out today, beyond wanting to be away from camp. It was mostly curiosity. He'd not seen the Onea since he was ten, and he felt he ought to take the chance and explore it while he was here, increased patrols notwithstanding.
Cinder chittered softly on his back, breaking the forest hum. Ithran paused, looking around.
"Hear something?" Ithran asked. The squirrel chittered something that could have been an assent and slipped off his back. Definitely something out there.
He noticed hooves on the road, approaching at a steady pace. At the same time, a growl from the other side of the road nearly made him jump, and in an instant he was on high alert, every muscle tense and ready for action. The hooves stopped, though the horse making the sound was obscured by the same bushes that hid Ithran. An instant later, something exploded through the bush in front of him and collided with his forelegs.
Ithran leapt several feet in the air, colliding with and half-crushing the bush that had hidden him from the road. "What in Kaia's name!?"
The thing that had run into him vanished into the forest, leaving Ithran staring after it, still tense. The realization of what he'd just done suddenly dawned on him, and he turned slowly to face the traveler.
It wasn't a traveler. It was a Raider. The stallion was as big as Ithran himself, armed and ready for action. Oh, no.
