Xia
Being strapped inside of a small building is nothing new to Xia, after spending most of his life coddled away from the world by over-protective parents. However, being confined to a whole city by the force of a military is definitely a new, and frustrating, experience for the Briemian. At least I can walk around here in peace. the blind hippocampus thought to himself. He tapped along the tattered streets of Torrine with his cane, keeping his head down. With the recent bombing of the city, it was harder to navigate through the streets than it already was. Xia hadn’t been in the city nearly long enough to get used to the clear streets, but now some were cut off or blocked off thanks to debris or members of the Flight. Xia kept his head down, out of fear and many other reasons, but mostly fear. He knew that these Flight members didn’t like his race of equine. In all honesty, Xia couldn’t blame them. The stallion had seen first-hand how pegasi had suffered at the hand of the Talorians. It made him sick as his own equine, and as an equine from Sirith. Xia stepped to the side as he heard the oncoming clatter of hooves and the rustle of feathers against hide. He waited until the clipping faded into the background of the now near-silent city. Once he was sure they were gone, Xia continued on his path. He had been hoping to possibly visit a library or a bookshop of sort in order to pass the time and take his mind off of his situation, maybe even learn more about the culture of the Talori that didn’t involve sacrifices and other problematic things. Of course he’d need someone to read it to him, but he hoped that maybe his fellow ambassadors would read to him. They were stuck in this situation as much as he was, excluding the current and former Seroran ambassadors. Xia held back a disappointed sigh. If only they could have all made it out of here.

Alec
Hooves pattered between blades of grass as Alec made his way toward the gates of Torrine, in front standing two large flock members that towered over the small pegasus. Ears perked in their direction, it was a mere nod from the donkey that made the guards step aside.
Within a few steps, he stood yet again on familiar territory, the land that was once supposed to "protect" him against the flight, now thriving under their power. Alec rolled his eyes at the irony, he wasn't here to remissness. What he was here to do was grab the few forgotten items from his previous hut and make his way back to his current living arrangements. He had spent too much time away lately, and was eager to return to his young filly.
Weaving between trees, he finally rounded the corner to find the small, abandoned, three room hut. He planned to make this fast, upon entering his old home he piled books from high shelves into a shabby-looking rucksack. Alec's telekinesis grip wrapping around anything he had missed. It wasn't long before the long-eared donkey headed back out onto the small dirt road that whisked through Torrine. It was time to head home.

Xia
Minding his own business, Xia didn’t notice the donkey passing in front of him when he stepped onto the next road over. His cane tapped right around the donkey’s hooves. So, when he softly collided with the side a smaller mass. Xia stiffened when he felt feathers on the smaller equine and scuttled back instantly. Xia shifted nervously, keeping his blind eyes focused on the ground. He used his telekinesis to settle his cane by the side of his fetlock, making it look non-threatening. “S-Sorry, my acquaintance.” The equine stuttered, ducking his head shame. If this was one of the Flight members, he didn’t want to cross them in any way. However just being a hippocampus could have irritated a Flight member though, at least he thought so. He’d seen what the flight warriors could do, he’d been there when Defender Thaumas had fallen. Xia had never known bloodshed his whole life, and Thaumas was the first time he had ever seen another equine die in front of him. Briemians didn’t fight physically among themselves, they were a peaceful society and Xia found himself missing that. If it came down to a fight, all Xia had was his charismatic personality and honeyed words that he could use to sweet talk these warriors. He had no idea how to defend himself physically. Xia silently prayed to Argus that he Pegasus he had ran into would take pity upon him.

Alec
The small pegasus tucked his hocks and jumped forward, away from the surprising pressure around his hooves. He had not seen the cremello colored hippocampus as he extended onto the small dirt road, and his anxieties hesitated, yet again, to spare him from their presence. The young adult was far from the picture-perfect flock member and continued to display his naturally humble personality. Though the pegasi were now in control, he had a hard time adjusting to it, instead continuing to treat them with the respect they once were expected to receive.
Alec seemed to dance on his feet in attempt to regain his balance and turn to look at the equine whom he had collided with; only to shuffle out of is way.
"Oh! N-no problem, sir!" He stuttered before examining the stallion more thoroughly, how odd he looked in this place! With his crystal clear fins and almost translucent skin. It took him a moment to notice the glaze over his eyes, the poor equine was blind. A strange creature, whom frankly, Alec was quiet surprised to see in Talori's herd. Before he could stop himself, he bluntly asked, "When did you arrive here?"
It wasn't long before the donkey silently cursed himself for the rude comment, after all, who was he to judge? Alec had become quite the collector of rude glances during his lifetime, he should not be so hypocritical.
"I apologize." He muttered as he dipped his head respectfully, black bangs falling over his spectacles as he did so. A kind gesture he could only hope the blind equine would receive. "I just have not seen you around here before, though Inaria is quite large I suppose, as is Kephis." The blue pegasi shuffled his wings closer to his sides, a reassuring motion that gave him a small sense of protection.
"Though, please excuse me, I'm sure you are very busy." He dipped his head again, this time adjusting his right wing as he did so, making sure the brown rucksack was strapped stability upon his flat withers.

Xia
A sigh of relief was bitten back in Xia’s mouth. It seems he had run into a docile Pegasus from the tone of this stranger’s words. However, he was curious when the Pegasus had asked him about his origin. The hippocampus cocked his head to the side, slowly raising it to be level with the where he assumed the other equine’s eyes were. Unlike the other Bremians, Xia was mostly excused from the unofficial ‘look away while talking’ rule that his culture seemed to have come up with. One perk of being blind he assumed. Still, he looked away when he talked to the Talorian, so he didn’t seem rude. Even if this Pegasus was docile, Xia didn’t want to come off as an unsophisticated civilian, he had been raised better than that. “It is ok, stranger.” He reassured the other, he assumed, stallion. From the tone of the other’s voice at least, if the equine corrected him he’d think differently. Though he suspected even if the other equine did identify as something else, they wouldn’t tell him. He knew how strict the culture around here was when it came to sexuality and gender. It made him shudder to think of what they did to those equines when caught breaking the religious laws. He thanked Argus that he was born into the Briemians. Xia gave a half smile to the Pegasus “I am doing nothing at the moment, simply looking for a place to erm…read in a manner of speaking. More like, I am looking for books and someone to read them to me.” the stallion chuckled at his little jest. “To answer your question though, I arrived here roughly…a month or two ago possibly? I have not been here long…to be truthful with you I am not from here. My home city is Naraiah, the capital of Sirith. I am a Bremian.” Xia gave the Pegasus a prideful smile, something a patriotic equine would give when thinking of their home country.

Alec
The young stallion lifted his pink nose up a few inches to slide his round-shaped glasses back into place, blue eyes peering suspiciously at the odd looking stallion that stood before him. A Breimian? An Emissary, perhaps? Of course! That must be it! Alec's thoughts shuffled silently through his head, his own ideals flooding his ears until the stallion grabbed his attention once again, this time, with words.
"Well.. I.. I could read to you I suppose?" The small figured peddled his hooves nervously, yet he refused to let his anxieties get in the way of soaking up any knowledge he could from such an interesting equine. After all, he had read of the Arcane Herd's ways before, and valued their studies especially, but this was the first time he had come into contact with an actual citizen. A perk of being on The Flight's good side, he had to hold back a chuckle at this thought, as he doubted he ever would have came into contact with a horse of this rank in the past.
"What books do you have there?" He questioned, rocking forward on his toes to lean closer to the piercing white stallion, hoping to steal a peak at the book covers. "I'm sure they're very interesting." Alec said this quietly, nerves probably, but his tone was light and kind, he was beginning to realize that this hippocampus held little a threat toward him and his posture slowly began to relax.
The short and small-framed pegasi bit his lip before taking in another breath, trying to work up the courage to persist the hippocampi yet again, "How about.." He muttered quietly, "I would love to read those to you, if you would not mind telling me a bit of Breim as well." A fair trade he thought, besides, when would he be offered with a chance like this again? "My name's Alec, yours is..?"

Xia
Ears perking at the proposition of being read to, Xia grinned and shoved the books at his side forward. “Really? Thank you so much my friend! I am glad to have finally found someone.” Xia thanked the other equine with fervor. It was a relief to find someone who wanted to read to him. He was worried about that, but had been pushing it off as a problem he’d deal with later, when he finally settled down in a quiet place. The hippocampus was becoming more and more at ease around this pegasus, which was a good thing in his own mind, how it should be normally. Xia gave the stallion a grin “They are not much honestly. Most are just scriptures of and on Argus, a few history books, and possibly a fantasy or two. I brought them from home, something to keep with me in case I missed Nariah.” Xia told him, tilting the covers up and hoping that they were right-side up so the pegasus could see the covers and read them. If not, oh well he supposed, not much he could do about that kind of situation. However, at the mention of his home city, he felt a pang of grief. The blind equine kept a flinch in. ‘I will return, someday… I hope Hajime will realize what has happened sooner or later’ Xia thought to himself. Once again his ears flickered as he thought over the last proposal of the Pegasus. His lips were pressed into a line as he thought over the deal. There was nothing he could say that would damage Talori, possibly. The Briemians were an open herd, and Xia was an open hippocampus. “I do not see why I cannot tell you about us.” he finally spoke after a few moments of silence. When the topic of names was brought up, Xia’s face lit up with embarrassment. “Oh! How rude of me, I did not introduce myself.” The hippocampus chuckled, ears flicking backwards. “My name is Xia. It is nice to meet you Alec.”

Alec
The small stallion can sense the hippocampi relax, and he relaxes his own posture in response; ears dwindling to either side.
"Y-your books sound lovely. Nariah must be such an interesting place, I've always wanted to travel." Alec's blue eyes showered the book covers... The upside down book covers. He stretched out with his telekinesis to take the books from the cremello stallion, taking the time to appreciate the uniquely tooled leather and purple trimming. It wasn't long before he was flipping through the pages, eyes, ears, and nose basking in knowledge.
Yet with a simple quirk of his ear, Alec was peering back up at the stallion, silence beginning to fill the air as the Briemian seemed to be lost in thought. Alec didn't question it, after all, it must be hard being so far from home.
With a slight cough, the donkey opened his mouth again, "I'd love to read to you, though let's find somewhere quiet first. Over by the trees and brush, perhaps? That seems out of the way." He spoke softly, with a slight smile; it wasn't often Alec was treated with much kindness from strangers, yet this stallion seemed different.
He dipped his head out of mere habit as the stallion introduced himself, "It's nice to meet you as well, Xia. I'm glad we were able to meet, even against the dangerous odds Talori has been covered in." He nodded once more, attempting to beckon the stallion over toward the shade, a good place to sit down and read.
