Yuki & Hikaru Well, there's two sides, to every situation Yes, there's two sides, two interpretations
Hikaru sighed heavily as he and his sister walked through the Temple's entrance. After such a strange day, it was good to be home. Glancing down at the little colt trailing along closely behind them, a look of concern crossed his face. The poor colt had already lived through so much, and today had obviously been rather distressing for him as well.
It was hard to watch his adopted nephew struggle with so much at such a young age. He should be out laughing and playing with other foals his own age, not mourning the loss of his parents. Tossing a sidelong glance at Yuki, he began to settle in, his sister catching on, allowing their shared body to gracefully lower itself onto the large futon in their room.
Smiling reassuringly, Hikaru motioned for the colt to come join them as Yuki began speaking.
"Breidan darling." Her voice was gentle and warm as she spoke. "I know much has happened today, and I know you are probably feeling a great many things..." She trailed off slightly, her mind running through the days events up til now. "I also know you likely have a great many questions..." She sighed softly, her gaze locking with the colt's. "I'm sorry I couldn't answer them freely before, as many of our herdmates depend on me to lead them when scary things happen...But I can answer them now." She smiled a bit, trying to encourage the foal to speak his thoughts.
She knew it had been a rough day for the child, and she couldn't help but feel like she had failed him in some way, especially with the absolute fear that was painted across his face when Judith's newborn revealed herself...but the past was not to be changed, and unfortunately, she felt as if the future would hold many other similar situations. She was a priestess after all, and there were certain obligations she was expected to fulfill, whether she was a mother or not.
Thankfully, the gods had blessed her with a brother who was always by her side, and could pull her away from duty when the situation demanded it due to the nature of their birth. It was a blessing at times like these, for had they not been connected, she would have been forced to leave her son's side when he needed her most.

B R E I D A N "Being brave is all about being scared. You just keep on going despite it." __ __ __ __ His ears were still flat against the outline of his skull. The light in his eyes had vanished, irises now dull and filled with fear rather than that natural sense of energy that they usually were. Poor Breidan, he stepped so lightly and frantically that it looked as though he might trip over his hooves at any moment.
If one had witnessed the child's earlier outburst, then they would understand why his feathers appeared so ruffled. Breidan's wings were stiff and quaking still. Scales. Scales, all he could think of were those scales. They kept reappearing in his mind, ceaseless and refusing to heed any of his inward pleas for them to stop. He could only squeeze his eyes shut and try to force down the paranoia that gripped his train of thought.
No sooner had he followed the twins into their room did he make a beeline for the nearest blanket. Breidan picked up pace for all about two seconds before he slipped under the blanket completely, letting it hide is quivering form. All that showed as his head peering out the other side.
Be brave, he usually told himself. Be strong, for mother. But how could a ten year-old contain his feelings for so long? Still the flames raged on in his mind, plaguing him with their dancing images. The colt let out a short, sharp wince as it all began to fall apart.
"No, no, " Breidan choked on his own pleas and buried his snout into the cloth. "What doezzit' all mean?! What does Ignacio want with us?" He wailed. "Why can't he jus' leave us all alone?! Yuki, what did we do wrong?!"

"No, no, What doezzit' all mean?! What does Ignacio want with us? Why can't he jus' leave us all alone?! Yuki, what did we do wrong?!"
The bay mare exchanges a concerned glance with her brother before turning her attention to the tiny colt bundled beneath a heap of blankets that made him look even smaller.
"I..." She paused, trying to decide how to continue. "I don't know what Ignacio wants with us.... But I don't think we did anything wrong. Argus is just as strong and powerful as Ignacio, and if Kirins are here, I am sure he's aware of it as well. He is a caring creator and has protected us for generations.... I don't think he would allow Ignacio to create something just to harm us, at least not allow it to appear within the nation he created..." She said gently, her voice filled with concern and care for the terrified child. "I know things are confusing and scary right now, but I believe Argus will protect us..." She nodded slightly as she spoke, moving closer to the colt, pressing her muzzle against his shoulder.
Turning to Hikaru, she asked a silent question with her eyes, to which the stallion responded with a single nod before levitating a small, decorative box over and passing it to Yuki. Gingerly, the mare opened the delicate box, lifting a small object from within. "This was our great great great grandmother's prayer idol." She said, holding the intricately carved pendent out to the colt. The wooden shape of Argus was unmistakable, and the gems embedded into the idol only added to the ethereal aura it seemed to give off. "It kept her safe and protected her from injury and illness. It's been in my family for generations, and now I want to pass it on to you..." She held the pendent out to the foal, watching him closely, not wanting to frighten him further.
Hikaru simply smiled encouragingly, knowing how much the necklace meant to his family. Maybe one day he could share it's story, and the rich history attached to it, though today wasn't that day. Today, he only hoped Breidan would begin to feel safe once again.

B R E I D A N "Being brave is all about being scared. You just keep on going despite it." __ __ __ __ Breidan sniffled, nose and hooves poking further out from under the blanket. The latter stamped on the floor, watery eyes flashing in Yuki and Hikaru's direction with continued fervor. "But what about the fire? Th-the dragons..." He cried out. "He wouldn've let that happened too, would he? Aodh an'...th-the dragons..." How those terrifying images continued to dance in his mind. He wouldn't plea aloud to make them stop, nor admit that they were the main reason for all his terror--for Breidan didn't understand it. He didn't understand how haunting they had become to him.
The kirins were not completely to blame for his fear, though they certainly had quite a chunk of it. Rather, their connection with that same vision ingrained in his subconscious--that of his burning home, his aunt, his mother--that was the true root of his pain.
The colt's tiny sobs grew quieter, and he pressed his head and neck up against Yuki's snout as she nudged his shoulder. "Don't let them get us...I-I don't wann'em to take you away like they took away mother and Aunt Mag..." As the little roan spoke, his dull blue eyes remained fixated to the floor, as he struggled to try and keep the snot and tears from dribbling down his face. He only managed to glance up again when Yuki and Hikaru fished out something from an ornate box.
Breidan's sharp ears perked upwards, and he gave one loud sniffle, rubbing his snout against his foreleg once or twice before dividing his attention completely on the pendant dangling from the neck of a chain. Immediately he felt drawn to it, the jewels and the delicately crafted figure of Argus having easily caught his attention and fascination.
"I-It's pretty," Breidan said through a gentle titter. It was all he could manage, even though it seemed clear from the astonishment in his eyes that he had sucked up just about all he had been told about the little charm. "Y-you mean, you want me to wear it?"
