JACELYN JR It's a thousand to one, A million to two. ANDALO'S home was a pleasant one. Not too big nor too small, but it was filled with his sons, the numerous stallions still causing some trouble. Jacelyn Junior herself was up to some business of her own--Andalo was having her fetch refreshments for guests. JJ was a bit cross about it but she was cross about most things, and she clipped her hooves. Her ears flicked while she headed down a hallway. The mohawked mane hangs in her face before JJ shakes it out of the way, not caring too much for whatever business her master was getting up to. It wasn't her business. After all, what was her business? Fighting. Blood and sport! That was her business. JJ swung a platter in her mouth, and crossed the threshold of Andalo's main room, where he was seated with a few other horses, probably discussing business of some unbearably droll sort. She huffed and shook her head, depositing the tray and just sort of wishing the horses would stop staring at her. What sort of ridiculousness was this. They were. Really. Just. Staring at her. JJ's ears flicked and she pinned them back, squinting. "...uh. This was uncomfortable. Very uncomfortable. She stepped back, head raising, shaking her mane, and trying to leave the room, up until she heard Andalo chuckle and tell her to get on back in the room. JJ really just hated her rest days. firebirdfalling

I looked at the door as a towering horse came into the room. She carried a tray of refreshments, setting them down on a table. I continued to look as she tried to edge out the door and I grinned. Must not like hanging out with others outside of the ring..., I thought. Her master, Andalo, gestured to the mare to stop, looking back at us to make sure she wasn't going to make a run for it.
"So, now that you have seen her, who is interested? I know she doesn't always win but she fights to her last. Has impeccable spirit." Andalo said, looking at the other horses in the room. We were all buyers, though I was the only Commoner. The rest were Nobles, who each had multiple slaves of their own. I, on the other hand, had none. Which is why I am here, after all.
I looked around the circle, noticing that the others were looking her up and down. None of them seemed particularly interested and after a couple of minutes, all but myself voiced they didn't want her. Andalo looked to me, hoping that I would take her.
Glancing at the mare, noticing the mix between boredom and annoyance on her face, I answered his unspoken question. "Sure. She seems she can hold her own. I'll take her." I said, standing up.

JACELYN JR It's a thousand to one, A million to two. JACELYN didn't quite register what was going on, even when Andalo spoke up about selling her. That was simply because it was, to her, impossible that Andalo would TRY and sell her. She didn't always win, sure, but she was a vicious beast in the ring. She never fought to kill, but she did fight to win, a display of power behind her even with her casual step. There was no need to try and flex her muscle, not when her well-kept figure showed that off well enough. When they all spoke up and said they didn't need her, well, JJ was okay with that. She snorted and dragged her front right hoof along tile, then slammed it down a bit to display her irritation with the situation. They were nobles, most of them, and they looked at her readily enough, but she was bristly, and one or two of them had something resembling fear on their faces-no doubt imagining what would happen if JJ were to try and rebel. Idiots, they didn't realize she was content. She lived for the arena. JJ wasn't like some slaves, who chafed against the bloodshed. She embraced it. It made her feel alive. Having settled that nobody wanted her, Jacelyn Junior began to relax, and then her stance stiffened once more when a mare spoke up. A rush of breath broke from between clenched teeth. "This can't be--" But it was, and JJ flared her nostrils. The warrior mare fell quiet once more and clipped her teeth once, not in irritation, but in discomfort. "What, was I not--" Andalo stopped her not with a harsh word but a calming noise, and Jacelyn puffed a hard breath, shoulders heaving. firebirdfalling

The look on the pit slave's face was pure astonishment, then horror at the realization that she was going to be forced to leave her master. She actually looked like she was going to explode into violence but she must have quelled that almost instantly. I looked to Andalo, passing him an overfilled bag of shards. He checked the amount, counting them in front of me while the others left, spending the rest of their day doing Noble things. After a few seconds of sound from the shards being counted, Andalo looked up, smiling. "It's all here. Let me go get her paperwork and she will be officially yours." He said, shoving the shards back into the bag, then leaving to get the paperwork that he mentioned.
I turned around, watching him go out the door past the slave. No, MY slave. I thought, looking at the draft mare.
"So." I said, "What do you call yourself?"

JACELYN JR It's a thousand to one, A million to two. THIS whole affair was ridiculous. Jacelyn tensed up, her muscles tightening, her powerful body turning slightly so she could scowl at the other nobles. At least most of them she knew fought horses. But this mare? She didn't know. And Ignacio knows that she may not appreciate Jacelyn's savage eagerness to fight. Her hooves traced the floor of her Master--ex-master--'s ground. Her teeth displayed in a grimace, and she cut her eyes from one to the other. If he wanted to sell her, fine. Jacelyn raised her head and strode forward, step by step, hooves falling heavy. She was going to do some work, then. She was going to intimidate this mare, something, she was going to make a point. Jacelyn was bound and determined, that if she'd been sold, she'd get sold to fight. The slave stopped and gave her new master a long, long stare, the chimera breathing softly. And then she spoke. Her voice was deep, for a mare, and for the lack of certain parts, she could be a stallion. "Jacelyn. Jacelyn Junior, after my father. Call me JJ, Jacelyn. Whatever you wish. And...you are?" It was a quiet display of her own attitude; she wanted to get her Master to answer to her in some small way. Because, while Jacelyn had proved herself in the arena as a slave, her new master had not proven herself, and she really did need to. Jacelyn wasn't about to sit here and let some mare walk all over her even with ownership, if she didn't prove anything. Jacelyn had grown up with stallions, after all. firebirdfalling

Honesty free of deceit and untruthfulness Oh, looks like she has some spunk. I grinned, looking up at her. She was way taller than myself, causing me to look up at an awkward angle. "How much do you love to fight?" I asked, watching her face for her reaction. "Because I intend for you to fight."
