Arges | Breim | Driven
Nothing had been going right. Not in a mechanical sense at least. Telescope parts lay strung out across one side of the table holding down several pages covered in chicken scratch. Red aura dense with frustration wrapped around a pencil and scratched across a page followed by a quiet stare and a look from Dionysus across the table. Arges sneered at his friend, "Ha ha, fifth time's a charm." He said with jest. Basic telescopes were growing more and more common, but Arges as an astronomer, he had to stay ahead of the curve. They could give a close look at the moons and narrow the sight to a select portion of sky, but they couldn't reach far into the depths of dark. Unfortunately, application of board work isn't always easy.
He snapped his eyes down the aisle as the sound of the library door quietly rolled through. Each time someone entered or exited his attention was rudely pulled from his work. Arges swept crumpled pages to the floor with an exasperated sigh. "I'll pick them up, don't scowl" He always did. A messy working space didn't mesh with his mannerisms at all. Hoof beats drew closer and the young Driven grew silent. It was either the one who had just entered or someone coming to complain about the stallion's rowdiness. Turning the corner was someone he didn't recognize, never seen before even on the underground streets. Arges shrank behind his end of the table and watched with slightly pinched yellow eyes.
"My Bird." Diony spoke with such familiarity to the stranger that Arges unintentionally let his gaze dart between them from disbelief. "Oh! I apologize. Arges, I'd like you to meet my girlfriend, Little Bird. Little Bird, this is Arges." Girlfriend? That's right! How could he forget after spending afternoons consoling the teacher after a mystery mare called "Birdie" disappeared on grand adventures. The source of his joy and near anguish. He was terrible enough meeting strangers with warning, but one showing up unannounced left him at loss.
"Hello, Arges. It's nice to meet you." The pegasus spoke.
Arges cast a quick look at Diony for help. He wasn't sure how to greet someone so close to his friend. The smallest unsure frown skewed his face as he gave a customary dip of the head. "Hello, Little Bird... I... I have heard... much about you." He said quietly. His mind screamed from behind a wall. Speak intelligently dammit, pauses aren't going to get anyone anywhere. He couldn't bring himself to smile.

Little Bird | Breim | Outsider
Little Bird hadn't met many of Diony's friends (if any now that she really thought about it), but she was excited to meet anyone that Diony wished to introduce her to. Based on the scholarly topic they seemed to be discussing before she interrupted, she would guess that the young stallion worked with Diony and probably did some sort of research here, and from the crumbled papers lying on the floor, she would also guess that their ideas weren't working quite as planned. She knew Dionysus was intelligent though, and if he liked this fellow, he was probably just as skilled and educated as himself. Two brilliant minds working together would surely figure some way to make whatever it was they were working on work.
The strawberry roan mare offered the stranger a friendly smile as Diony introduced her with an affectionate glance in her direction with an underlying glint of worry as his eyes wandered over her pelt to ensure there were no new scars marring her body. She noticed the hesitation of the other equine's face, but she couldn't quite place whether or not it was due to simple shyness or if there was something else that caused him to pause.
"Hello, Little Bird... I... I have heard... much about you." Arges spoke, an uncertain frown painting itself across his face.
Little Bird returned his bow with one of her own, looking into his face for a moment more before glancing at the papers on the floor. Even though she was not of Breim, she had a great respect for their customs and knew that eye contact wasn't exactly a polite thing to do. The pegasus mare couldn't help but fret over Arges's statement. He'd heard a lot about her. Oh gods, she could only pray that they had been good things. She knew very well how anguished and worried Diony got whenever she left, and if Arges saw the aftermath of her departures, there was no telling what he thought of her. 'He probably thinks I'm absolutely wretched being... not that I'd blame him. I think the same sometimes for all the pain I've caused Dionysus and after all he's given me.' Little Bird thought but didn't allow her polite smile to fade.
"Well, I hope those things were good ones." She muttered in a playful tone as she glanced over at Dionysus to see his pondering expression. It was an expression that she knew meant one thing when she saw it on his face; he had some sort of plan for something.
"Birdie," Dionysus started, turning toward her with a small smirk. "I know you just arrived, but I was wondering if you wouldn't mind accompanying Arges to retrieve a package of parts that I ordered for our current project. I would love to go with you, but I have some work to finish up first, and maybe Arges can show you around Nariah a bit on the way. If Arges doesn't mind the company of course." Diony offered his friend a reassuring smile as Little Bird blinked in mild surprise. Diony always had lots of work that needed to be done, and his work ethic was one of the many things she loved about him. She would have been just as content pulling up a comfy chair beside him and watching him do his work while she read a book, but she wouldn't mind walking around Nariah especially with someone that Diony obviously considered close to him.
