Othala | Freedom's Flight | Medic
She was right in the middle of the chaos again, not because she was so brave, but because this flight through the thick smoke felt somehow like a punishment. It was hard to explain but the guilt she felt for the actions of the Flock today rested already heavy on her heart. She had to do something, help, as much as she was able to. The next time she returned to the barn she would stay and help Tansy, for slowly but surely it simply were too many horses in need of medical care there to leave the cleric mare alone. The dark mare briefly glanced upwards. It would only take her a few seconds, a few flaps with her wing and she would be above the burning cloud of smoke, maybe even high enough to blend out the screams beneath her. But instead she turned her eyes down again, scanning the ground for horses in need of assistance. If she was the right, less and less bombs were thrown down now, or maybe it was just something she wanted to be.
Suddenly she noticed a movement below her from the corner of her eye. Immediately the mare landed a few meters away, to not scare the stranger even more than he must already be. As soon as her hooves touched the ground, ash and dust flew up and made her lungs burn even more. In fact, almost the whole ground was buried beneath a layer of white and dark grey ash. Somewhere in front of her Othala could still see the slowly moving silhouette of the horse she had seen from above. “Hey, please wait, I can help you!” she called out and followed the stranger. The closer the came the more she realised how fragile the horse in front of her was. Small body, long and skinny legs….a foal. The colt turned towards her, then rolled his eyes collapsed to the ground. Oh no. The mare released a shaky breath when she noticed that the foal's chest was still moving up and down. “It’s okay, I’ll get you out of here” she whispered gently and lifted the small body with her telekinesis on her back. Othala spread her wings again but before she jumped back into the sky, she looked around once more. The movement of her wings had cleared the air slightly and now she saw something that was covered by the smoke before. A way larger body rested on the ground, already covered with ash. There was no life left in this horse. Maybe one of the foal's parents, a sibling? How many dead bodies would the next day reveal? Too many for sure. And her family could have already shared the same fate. Or….or someone else had found them and they had arrived at the barn in the meantime. With that small spark of hope in her she leaped back into the sky.
She don’t took any time to greet all the new horses that had arrived at the barn, instead she just made her way into the building and placed the foal on a free stop. The small colt was still unconscious but maybe it was better that way. Just because the barn seemed to be a safe haven doesn’t mean that the horses inside where calm. Many of them moaned in pain, or even cried silently. It was good that the foal don’t had to hear this as long as he was sleeping.
Othala looked around and trotted towards Tansy once she spotted her. “I found just one more...how is the situation here, any fatal injuries?” she asked silently.

Peregrine | Freedom's Flight | Post 5
As much as he detested the idea of facing the acrid smoke once more, Peregrine was resigned to the fact that he would follow Tansy's urging, and search for more Talorians in the smog. Rolling his shoulders to loosen the muscles in his wings, Peregrine threaded his way through the barn, attempting to shut down all outside sources of input, so that he could begin to focus on the task at hand. Pelts flashed past his vision as he made his way outside, choking on a wave of thick gray smoke as his muzzle hit the outside air. Squinting against the fog, Peregrine spread his wings, launching himself into the air with a mighty leap and a few broad strokes of the feathered appendages.
Gaining altitude, Peregrine squinted, attempting to see through the shifting smog for any sign of either Flock members or other Talorians. He feared that he would not cross paths with Othala in this smoke, as both of them would blend well with the environment, and even keen pegasus eyes could be deceived. Turning his gaze towards the earth, Peregrine wished his eyes had been deceived. Blood, dark against the ground, rubble, and the forms of lifeless bodies sprinkled the earth, accenting the land with morbid aesthetics. Peregrine's stomach turned as he stared down at the horrors that filled the earth. His herdmates were responsible for this. Which meant he was responsible for this. With his ears flattened to his head, Peregrine circled, forcing himself to stare down at the land for even the smallest sign of movement. There was none.
Peregrine's wings screamed from overuse as he circled, getting closer and closer to the ground, until he finally touched down beside the barn. Perhaps in a few moments he would go out again, or perhaps he would not be able to gather the strength. But for the moment, his body needed rest, and his mind needed to adjust to the painful images he'd just seen. Shuddering, he ducked back inside the barn, passing Taen without even a second glance.
Inside, Peregrine was met with a mixture of relief and pain. Othala's dark coat was visible even in the gloom of the barn, and for that he was thankful. All of his team had returned all right. But what he saw inside him sick again. Children. The newest recruit that Othala had found was little more than a babe. Peregrine felt a wave of dizziness pass over him as he stared at the newcomer, at the faces of those around him, at Tansy's frantic efforts to help her herd. This was what the Flock had brought to Aquore. This is what they had done.

Flight// You've managed to complete the first part of the mission Perseus had tasked you with, but now, as the chaos continues on outside you must convince those you've gathered to join your cause. None of you wish to see any of your brethren more negatively impacted by all of this than they already have been, and now is your chance to help them see the light.
Talori// As the truth of your situation comes to light, you must decide what you will do. Will you stand together? Be divided? Accept the Flight's rule, or fight against them every step of the way? Try to find some middle ground? The choice is yours and yours alone.

Alec - Agnes (NPC)
Peering through the large barn door, Alec's eyes burned from the smoke. It was hard to tell if the black clouds were merely covering his eyes, or the entire city of Inaria. The small stallion blinked multiple times, peering through his round spectacles almost too desperately. It wasn't just his eyes, Inaria-- hell, everywhere he looked was encased in flames and twisting black smoke. How could anyone do this? Yet as he thought, he already knew the story, the entire story. Didn't Inaria deserve this? The Talorians had killed off many of his winged kind, and they have been for generations. Alec's brow furrowed, they deserved this.. They did.
Alec's turquoise wing stretched back over his daughter's own feathered back as he pulled her closer to his side, attempting to shield her eyes from the flame's toxic exhaust. Swishing black bangs from his bright blue eyes, the spotted donkey was about to turn away from the barn entrance before he saw a figure begin to emerge from the fire. It was their guide to the barn, to their safe place, this winged stallion had saved them. Who knows if he would have been pulled from his panicked state if it wasn't for Agnes or the bay figure who approached so rapidly. As the new pegasus came closer and closer, Alec began to realize that in fact, he wasn't so new at all. Sonador. He could recognize that familiar face from their time spent imprisoned in Torrine. Sonador seemed much more fragile since their past encounters, yet he had still managed to save both him and his daughter. For that, Alec owed him much thanks.
As the silver bay stallion came closer, Alec stepped back, while also ushering Agnes out of the way, who was in fact quite eager to see who were to come through the front of the barn, they managed to provide enough space for Sonador to land safely.
"Alec, I had no idea it was you--" Spoke the older stallion, but Alec cut him off in an abrupt rush of stuttering syllables. "T-THA-Ank you." His voice cracked as his nervous seemed to overtake his speech yet again.
It wasn't long before Sonador was peering at Agnes in subtle interest, ""Is... is she yours?" he asked quietly, but before the blue-winged stallion could respond, Sonador was rushed away.
Turning to watch him go, Alec's eyes shifted over the barn they stood in. All around, there were horses sobbing, choking, even dying. Was the flock's mission really worth it? If it had caused this much suffering, what was the point? Yet as he dug deep through his thoughts, he thought of all the pain Talori had inflicted on him, inflicted on others, perhaps he would have even been able to raise his daughter from birth if it wasn't for the herd's dangerously ridiculous views. His bright blue eyes shifted back to Sonador as he attempted to assist any of those in need, Alec knew this stallion wasn't cruel, he wasn't violent, and as the donkey's eyes peered over those who he believed to also occupy the flock, he saw only the same mentality. Alec knew that of course, not all the flock members would appear as docile, yet he could say the same for Talori's citizens. The difference was, the flight was trying to do the right thing, and they were.
Of course, he had his daughter to think about now as well. Alec couldn't just sit by and watch her be treated with as much prejudice as he had been throughout his life. In Talori's eyes, because of the wings Agnes sported atop her withers, she would never be good enough, yet to the flock, she was a gem. Perhaps their intentions could shift Talori's as well, perhaps they could make the whole of Aquore a better place.
As his own realization finally began to set in, Alec found his choice, he knew what he had to do. If he was deemed a traitor for standing up for what he believed to be right, well, a traitor he'd be.

Farisght
Despite his exhaustion, Farsight became very aware of what this situation had turned into. The Flock clearly had taken over, there was no guardians here to save them, there was no army to free them. Talori was lost to the Flock.... At least for now. Yet as Farsight took in the faces, faces he had known for years, the elderly the children, they clung to one another fear and worry clearly shown on their faces. It made Farsight let out a defeated sigh, What was the point? Though as he looked to him, looked to Zenith, he knew.. He knew the fight was never over, and he had to decide which side to choose. Farsight looked to Zenith as she clung to him and he couldn't help, but smile. He'd do it all over again for her. Yet she was no warrior, he wouldn't allow her to be a prisoner once more. Ears flickered down as he took in a steady breath and leaned in so close, so that his words would only be heard by her.
"Zenith, we have to make a choice here and now... I side with Talori... If you feel the need to stand with the Flock, or do not wish to be a caged again I understand... But I'll keep fighting the good fight... For you, your family... I'll keep fighting. Im not asking you to join me, but do what is best for you." he told her. He hoped she would understand. Gods he hoped she would. He kissed her gently on the forehead before slowly rising to his hooves. Eyes paired those that were once friends, those that had 'saved them' from the Flocks own destruction. Farsight shook his head. "Do not think that because you have saved us from your own destruction we will follow you so blindly." he remarked as took a step forwards. "You come onto our lands." he opened a wing showing the wounded and horses and others from the chaos the Flock had tossed them into. "You come with weapons, with chaos and destruction and you think we will sit idly by?" he called out to them with anger. "I saw signs of this to come and I've done nothing, I will not be making that mistake again." He remarked with bitterness in his voice. He blamed the Flock for this, if they had not interfered, they all would not have been caged in the first place, for the assassination attempts on the Emperor to this? He would not stand by anymore. They all had to make a stand for what they believed in. He believed in Talori, he believed that it could change, but not like this. Not with the Flocks explosion and killing spree.
Farsight looked to them snorting all the more, he was not a fighter, but by gods good grace he would be a quick learner. He couldn't keep running away from this as he had before, he couldnt just turn a blind eye to this chaos. No he had to make a choice and thus he did. He's stand with Talori, and as far as Farsight saw it, The Flock were the Villains trying to justify their crimes with their own sick sense of logic.

ZenithAnd as the world comes to an end I'll be here to hold your hand 'Cause you're my king and I'm your lionheart."Zenith, we have to make a choice here and now... I side with Talori... If you feel the need to stand with the Flock, or do not wish to be a caged again I understand... But I'll keep fighting the good fight... For you, your family... I'll keep fighting. I'm not asking you to join me, but do what is best for you." The brightly colored pegasus stared at Farsight. "I.." They whispered softly so only he could hear. "I will always stand with my homeland and my family...but what help will any of us be behind bars? If we allow them to think we have sided with them, that they have swayed us or at least are to weary to fight, we may be of more help to our brethren..." Their voice trailed off as Farsight took a step forward.
Maybe he hadn't heard them, or maybe he just didn't care... Zen flicked their ears back as Farsight began speaking once more, addressing the flight. It hurt the young brewer that he would so quickly rush into this without talking it over with them, asking them to make the decision that was best for them personally. What about what was best for the two of them together? What about what was best for the herd? Farsight had always been full of conviction and played the part of a guardian well. Sometimes they wondered why he became an entertainer instead... but here and now, even though they knew this was coming, it stung them deeply.
So Zenith stood still, torn between knowing they couldn't run or fight as well as the others, and yet still wanting to help their country. Should they stand in unity with Farsight? Follow along in his plan that would likely lead to imprisonment again for them both since they couldn't follow skyward if that's where Farsight would choose to go if they weren't there? Should they follow through with their own plan and work against the flight from the inside? How many more would they be able to assist if they were free to wander the streets?
Biting their lip, Zenith looked about the room, their eyes wandering from the pegasi they knew to the flight members who had destroyed their home. Their gaze landed on Tansy, the sweet cleric mare who Zen had grown quite fond of until her betrayal. If Zenith "joined" the flight, would they be branded as a traitor? would their brother forgive them? Would the herd? Zenith didn't know... There were too many random variables at play, too many unknowns to figure out any definite answer. It was like mixing ingredients to create a potion, but not knowing how those ingredients might interact. It was an experiment, a risk, and it scared them.
Trembling softly, Zenith glanced back at Farsight, Dear, sweet, wonderful Farsight, and they felt their heart break a little. They knew they couldn't follow him... and it hurt. He'd promised he'd never leave them, and yet here he was, making a stand they couldn't and driving a wedge between them. How long it would last or how great a divide it would create, Zenith didn't know. Maybe one day things would be right again...but for now...
Zenith took a step back and shook their head slightly. "I'm sorry...I'm so sorry...." Their voice broke as they continued, tears beginning to well up in their eyes. "I can't stand with you in this, Farsight .. I just can't... It's too much..." The tears were rolling freely now. It had only been a few weeks ago that Farsight had proposed, and now it felt like they were breaking off the whole engagement. "I love you... " They said, taking a few more steps back before running into the wall and collapsing into a heap on the floor, sobs shaking them to their core.

Tansy Flock Member - Ex-Cleric
I'm skin and bone
Just a king and a rusty throne
Oh, the castle's under siege
But the sign outside says, "Leave me alone."
-Panic! at the Disco
-----
Tansy's focus was directed singularly on the horse she worked on. She was aware of some chitter chatter going on around but her cleric ways had her drive wanting this horse to live. Horses brought her water and the things she asked for. She stemmed the blood and tried to best to set any bones. A few wounds needed cauterized which the mare then let out a groan of pain and was silent. Thankfully she had blacked out and this let Tansy work her abilities uninhibited. The one leg that carried the brunt of damage would probably never be of use, she had to set joints to shattered bone but it would not need removed unless it later caused too much pain. Another was broken but not nearly as badly and that had been set and wrapped without a second thought. Skin abrasions and cuts were sewn, sterilized and covered. As long as infection did not set in the mare would leave and possibly with mobility gear and aid she could get around. Sighing as she resigned herself to the fact there was little more to do she stood above the mare.
Othala was beside her now and asked after injuries. Looking to the small child as she answered, her voice rasped. "Not in here, no...." She knew there would be plenty of deaths outside their safe barn. She came back to the present with the tone of Farsight's voice.
"Do not think that because you have saved us from your own destruction we will follow you so blindly. You come onto our lands. You come with weapons, with chaos and destruction and you think we will sit idly by? I saw signs of this to come and I've done nothing, I will not be making that mistake again."
Tansy felt a shiver go down her spine as Farsight spoke. Something was brewing in the haunted mare and it was boiling over. That was when Zenith spoke.
"I can't stand with you in this, Farsight .. I just can't... It's too much...I love you... "
Then she had moved to the wall with sobs. Tansy thought she could hear the snap inside. Though not the most stable she was finding herself in the Flight. Though this attack was not what she wanted and knew it would do horrible damage. The years upon years that the blood hungry Talori altered lives needed to be stopped. Until then she had been facing away from Farsight, her eyes closed as she tried to stop the flames that ate her from the inside but now, oh now, she turned to face him. Her aqua eyes buried themselves in the sight of her most dearest friend. Speckled with blood from her patient her snout fluttered a snarl. Tansy moved quickly as she closed the distance, sudden and sharp. Using her already tormented vocal chords she stressed her voice even further with the rage and feeling she poured into her next sentences.
"Mistake... Mistake?! A MISTAKE FARSIGHT? HA! The mistake was not leaving this forsaken herd sooner. Perhaps then we all would not have been so weak willed piles of skin we had been." Her eyes roiled and looked at Zenith and her heart hurt. Eyes shifting back to Farsight, her once dearly loved friend and she knew she must look like a nightmare. Her short hair was always frazzled and she could feel bits stuck together with blood, spit and tears. Blood spots clumped parts of her face and the anger made her eyes wide.
" Farsight, even if we kill as many as we sadly might this day we will never come close to how many the Talori sent off that damn cliff after removing their wings. " Snorting she motioned to his wings "Wings exactly like yours boy. And you know the nail in the coffin Farsight? Even if we kill today and win and Talori is no more..... The killing stops. No more beyond this day. We won't sacrifice or murder those just because of their shape. Are you that much of a fool to not see this. Of course there is pain dammit. Change is pain. I of all else know this and yet I feel like I am alive... like I belong for the first time in my entire damn life. I hate the bloodshed more than any other horse but on my own life's blood this cause is worth it to see the killing stop. If it doesn't farsight? Who's next huh, because if i'm not mistaken your girl now has wings and even though she is royal blood they can die just as easily! Or will it be you next Farsight? Ya know, if we lose here today they may even want more blood to appease the damn gods so instead of one maybe it will be two each time... or three... when will it stop huh? You know it won't and yet you want to stay?" She scoffed and began to step back "Then stay and die Farsight. By our hands or your own herds though the chances weight much heavier on the latter" Growling her last sentence and looking over his face for reaction she snarled again and turned quickly to begin her rounds to check those who gained injuries....

Othala | Freedom's Flight | Medic
Her brown and blue eyes wandered through the barn, searching for anyone in need for quick help, but there was none, just like Tansy confirmed. But right now it wasn’t the injuries at the outside that worried the young ex-cleric the most, no she feared the scars inside. She would have some of her own after today. Through the room her gaze met the yellow eyes of Peregrine. He looked exactly like Othala felt. Confused and numb. It would take a few days for everyone to realise what really happened today. Right now it felt still...surreal.
Her ears picked up a silent conversation not far away from her. Sonador was talking to a donkey with blue wings. Beside him stood an even smaller pegasus, probably his child? All three seemed to be unharmed. And she was thankful for that. The rather peaceful moment (at least for her), was quickly over. Multiple voices raised from another corner of the barn. Rather silent at first, but then the small white pegasus addressed his words to everyone. A colorful feathered pegasus answered him. Othala listened silently and closed her eyes as Zenith collapsed. Tansys angry voice made her open them again. She barely knew the mare but so far she had seen her calm, friendly and with a gentle aura. This outburst of temper from her really surprised Othala, but Tansy expressed exactly what the dark mare thought. Yes this bloodshed felt terrible, and it was wrong, but they had to do something. Decades of suppression had led to this.
"I hate the bloodshed more than any other horse but on my own life's blood this cause is worth it to see the killing stop. If it doesn't farsight? Who's next huh, because if i'm not mistaken your girl now has wings and even though she is royal blood they can die just as easily! Or will it be you next Farsight?"
The words echoed through her mind over and over again. Yes. the killing had to be stopped. Two murdered feathered brethren every year. She could have been next, or her mother. Or even Tegan. Her eyes flickered back to the donkey foal for a moment. They all knew that not even the children were safe from that madness. She lost the overview about how many times she had dreamed that her little brother was chosen. The nightmares always got worse the closer the solstice celebration came. Months had passed since she last saw him. For her family she was still missing without a sign of life, but after today they would know why she left. How would her family react? Did anyone of them got hurt during the attack? Would Tegan hate her for her decision? From all the things going through her mind, that was the one question that tormented her the most. The painful sobs of Zenith finally brought her back to the here and know. With a few steps she walked towards her and stretched one wing out. Her feathers stroke gentle over the mares back and even if Othala knew that she couldn’t do anything against the pain Zenith felt, she hoped that the gesture would give her solace. “It is not your land” she said suddenly, her words addressed to Farsight. “Talori was our home too. Until it didn’t felt like a home anymore. I’m sure that you know the fear of losing a loved one every year to that sacrifice. We decided to fear no more. The hippocampi are dangerously arrogant. Aren’t we all Cascades children?” she asked with a tired sound in her voice.

Taenreos The Flight - Apprentice
Everyone was yelling, either in pain from injuries or to each other and Taen didn't know what to do. He was still standing near the barn's entrance, doing nothing like a dolt. He literally didn't know what to do. Stand here? Don't stand here? Throw his two-cent into the conversation? Or maybe not? He'd probably screw it up so he didn't, instead deciding to follow Tansy on her rounds as the others took turns chewing on the fleabitten pegasus. Obviously, they knew each other, or at least most of them did. Taen however was clueless. Typical of him. This is what he gets from being a loner. He didn't know jack squat about whatever was going down but from the gist of it, the fleabitten pegasus (which they kept calling Farsight) wanted to stand with Talori, while the fiancee couldn't decide. Taen couldn't blame them. It was a hard decision for himself to make and even then, it didn't feel quite right to fight, at least physically to make the sacrifices and violence end. He couldn't imagine what it was like for them.
Taen came up to Tansy, shyly bowing his head as he came to face her. "Are- Are you alright?" He asked quietly, hoping she didn't take her anger and frustration out on him. "Do you need any help with your patients?"

Farsight
Body willed him to move, to be beside Zenith as she said she loved him, before collapsing in heap against the wall. It was to much to bare, and for once Farsight looked away from the scene, he just couldn't bare to witness it. Though there was no moment for recollection, no pause for this scenario, as Tansy was hot on him. He'd seen her angry before, one far and rare occasions, but honestly it was never at him. So to see this, his former friend call him out in front of everyone would have been humbling, something he needed. Still he heard her words and could almost feel himself want to snap his teeth at her. How dare she, how dare she even say such words. For each time the name was drawn he prayed for it not to be his own. How dare she, how dare she. He thought bitterly, as his ears bent back, nostril flaring. Then she threw Zenith into it asking as if he was some selfish fool, saying things he already had waking night terrors of. For he found love and now it could be so easily swept away from him. Farsight shook his head, taking in a steady breath. All of this hurt like hell.
Eyes glanced at Zenith, her cries making him want to wince and try to block it out. Gods, he was a mess, and yet did she not know how much this hurt him as well? Did she not know the pain he felt, the guilt that was eating him alive, how each side just took pieces of him, until nothing was left. Yet another mare spoke, waking him from his inner thoughts and battles. This is not your land, at first Farsight wanted to say something, but sometimes he had to listen and take it all in, as he did with Zenith and Tansy. Othala spoke once more telling her own story, how this place was once home, but not anymore. Farsight glanced around, everyone looked so tired, so exhausted. Wanting peace, but unable to have it. His head lowered in almost a defeated way, his wings dropping a bit, a few feathers from them touching the ground. They were right though, how long would fate allow him to live, or Zenith? She too knew the cost and she sided with the Flock. Chest took in a deep breath, letting it out in a deep breath. "You're right." he remarked to them, Tansy and Othalla. Farsight shook his head chuckling softly, a fool forever he thought. "I am sorry for my words, I spoke in haste and anger." He offered them all a light smile. "Im just tired of fighting, being caged for something I could never help being." he remarked to any that would listen. "You all are right... change has to happen." He looked to his lost friend, she burying herself in work and he shook his head a bit. Clearly a little shouting some sense into him did the trick, he mused to himself. "I understand if my outburst had made you question my morals. Like all we are tired and scared and like any caged beast we strike out in hopes to save a bit of ourselves." head hung low a bit. "I want change, I want to live a life worth having and not to fear for death twice a year span. I want to make things right." he compelled to them. For once, Gods be good, he wanted to do something right. It was clear to many he understand the heaviness of this all, that there was a choice, though he felt the need to stick with Talori, for nothing but that fact it was his herd. A herd that wanted to see his kind flung into the sea. What life was that? Not a life worth living. He dipped his head to them, "Forgive me." he spoke with hollowness in his voice.
The days events had worn him to the bones and at them moment there was someone that needed him. "If the flock would have me, Id gladly join, if not I understand, I spoke out in haste and did not head the words of others. I apologize." he nodded, before trotting over to Zenith. "Im sorry Zenith..." he whispered to her. "I make a muck of everything, and never wait before I react..." he sighed heavily. "Sorry..." but how much could sorry really cover? Sorry did not stop the tears from falling, nor did they take back the pain or the words he had said. Gods, why was he so reckless sometimes? "I've messed up so much... but I want to be better..." he glanced to her. "For you for me." he smiled lightly, but looking to him, it was clear to see what a broken man he was. His world had gone upside down, and he was drowning in his wake. Gods help him.
