Helene
With the threat of war looming over Sedo, Gazer had sent Helene to the Seroran capital, Osulas. Helene was of course familiar with the city, having been through it many times as a child and even more recently. It should bring her some comfort, something to quell the anxieties running rampant through the young mare’s nerves. Unfortunately, it did nothing. Ever the worrier, Helene’s problems didn’t cease to exist simply because she was in the most fortified city in all of Hireath. Some of her worries even amplified just because she was in Osulas. Separated from her father, she worried for the life of the only parental figure in her life now. She was also in the home city of one of her former flames who, even though was still a friend to her, she still harbored some feelings for. Not to mention the ever present anxiety over what she would do in the future. Now wasn’t the time for worrying though. This was going to be a break from all her problems and she was determined to take her mind off such anxieties. The mare could look after the young ones here, a task she adored, and not to mention that her own little sibling was now living in the city with their mentor and she couldn’t wait to meet up with Idris again. After being separated from the foal, Helene continued worrying over them, despite knowing Idris was in capable hooves. Perhaps it was just the natural worry of an older sister. “First thing’s first, an inn.” Helene muttered to herself as she hauled herself over the last step onto the cliff side housing Osulas in the sky. She knew a reputable inn already at least, and she didn’t have any luggage to take with her so that was a relief. It wasn’t before long she was stopped in front of the inn she was looking at. Helene stood at the door to the building, wrestling with the ideas of either going in and checking out a room, or going to look for her little brother and see how he was doing right away. Along her way to the inn, Helene ended up giving into thinking about her brother and her worry had started to get the best of her. “Decisions, decisions…” she muttered under her breath, shuffling over to the side of the door to make sure she didn't block any other equines wanting to check in.

I D R I S THEY SAY SILENCE IS GOLDEN. They had arrived on short notice after their father had come to Adonis's home with one terrifying sentence; "We are going to war with Aodh." Aodh, the fire-worshippers. Aodh, the largest herd in all of Hireath. Aodh, the wealthiest horses in the land. They knew that the ambassador from said herd had come with some demands unknown to them, but what, what could have prompted either herd to call war?
"They seem agitated over our refusal to meet their demands," Gazer's words echoed in their mind. His voice seethed with some hidden anger in his throat, they recalled. "It seems Aodh is desperate, to declare war over it all. Idris, I can't stand around while our herd prepares for battle; as a fleetfoot, I must go out into the field, to keep you and your sister safe."
The whole matter had left Idris with staggering iota of confidence. Already they had lost Adhara while delivering her kirin child, and now, coincidentally, Aodh was declaring war against their people for supporting the freedom of vagabonds--for supporting their own values. It hadn't formed yet, but the situation would leave a foul taste in the colt's mouth toward the fire worshippers.
They had already said heartfelt goodbyes to their father, and prayed for his safe return. Gazer had already shared with them that their sister was in the city, and that he had insisted she visit them sometime. The thought offered Idris a little comfort, and they were so eager to see their sibling again that they finally mustered up the bravery to step out into the open and travel down Osulas' vast array of steps to search for her. Hopefully, hopefully, they'd find her.
Or, maybe they'd end up lost. They hoped they could remember the way back by now.

Helene
When Helene caught sight of a seal bay tobiano coat peeking through the crowds of horses and buildings, her mind was made up for her. As soon as she caught sight of the familiar looking coat her head whipped around so fast Helene was worried she might have pulled something. She peered closely, trying to confirm whether or not the horse she caught sight of was her little brother or not. It took a few minutes to figure out if her eyes were tricking her or not, but soon enough she got a clear view of the little foal and sure enough, there was Idris standing in the flesh. Overjoyed at the sight of her sibling, the normally shy mare let out a cry of joy and ran over to her to the soft-spoken colt. “Idris! I’m over here!” Helene shouted as she galloped over to her little brother. As soon as she was close enough, the young mare skidded to a stop right beside the small colt. She let a happy giggle and nuzzled her snout into the side of the colt’s face. “By Alya it’s so good to see you again! I know we haven’t been away from each other for long, but it felt like an eternity to me.” the mare rambled, slowly loosing breath from both her continuous talking and her quick run over to her sibling. “How’ve you been? Are you eating enough? How’s your training going? Are you getting out enough? Have you made any friends in the city? Are you doing well here? Wait, I’m sorry I should probably ask things one at a time!” Before Idris could even get a word out Helene was already barraging the poor colt with questions. Helene couldn’t help it; she’d been a worrywart over the shy colt ever since they were children. Ever since the other foals in their small family group started bullying Idris for their muteness, she'd been protective over the colt. Her fierce protectiveness had only increased ever since their mother had passed into the wings of Alya. Even though she trusted Adonis with Idris's protection and care, it didn't sate the feelings of worry in her heart over colt. The mare just wanted to make sure her sibling was doing well.

I D R I S THEY SAY SILENCE IS GOLDEN. With ears perked, they kept their head low in the crowd, only raising it on occasion when they felt they were surrounded by too many horses to make out what was on the street. As they walked along, they'd pass by inns and shops, all having become increasingly familiar since they began to stay here. If only they had the money, they liked the idea of treating Adonis and Yeshua to something nice as a thank you. Unfortunately Sedo's sand often picked up in the wind and covered the city in a reddish haze, warmly aglow whenever the sun approached the horizon. They squinted, the glare pestering their eyes for a moment when at last they stepped into the shade.
Their name was being called. "Mmn--?" The colt's head jolted upward, and past the dusty, red-tinted figures of horses came a familiar figure of dapple gray and white. Helene! Idris immediately picked up their pace, until they cantered slowly toward their much older sibling. A wide, rare smile stretched from corner to corner on their snout.
"Lena," Idris greeted softly, their voice almost unheard. They kept their neck tucked beneath the shade of their sister's, their short mane brushing up against it affectionately. "Missed you too...'Lena, Lena, I've been fine. I've been, well, fine..." It was a tiny lie. After the birth of Hanani coinciding with the death of Adhara, and Aodh's declaration of war, they knew that their mood could be much better. It had been improving during their stay with Adonis...now all the sudden it felt like all their efforts had been all for naught.
"Can we...go inside...?" Or at least, they would much rather talk somewhere other than in the middle of the street. There were far too many horses here...

Helene
A smile of relief came to Helene when Idris affectionately brushed under her neck. Though at her brother’s reassurance that he was fine, Helene raised a brow. When you were raised around an almost mute colt, you learn to pick up on their body language in order to figure out what they’re thinking or feeling. The colt’s tone and how they acted obviously gave away that they were feeling off. What that emotion was or what was making them feeling off was a complete mystery to the dappled and white mare. But, she wouldn’t question them out here, for now at least. She’d question the young colt later behind closed doors. One way or another she’d figure out what was up with Idris. “Inside? Um, yeah. I just need to check in to a room. I got caught up and didn’t get the chance.” Helene told Idris, ending her sentence with a nervous chuckle as she turned and trotted back over to the inn. When she reached the door, she checked over her shoulder to make sure that Idris was following her before trotting into the Inn. It took only a couple moments, but a minute later and a few Shards shorter, Helene managed to rent out a room for an unscripted amount of time. Hopefully she’d have enough money to last in the Inn until the war was over. Just thinking about all the bloodshed that was to come, and that her father would be in the middle of all that fighting, filled Helene with dread that made her shudder. Bringing herself out of her thoughts, the mare gave a polite smile and a muttered “Thank you.” to the inn attendant. A sigh escaped Helene as he trotted over to where she left Idris waiting. Talking to others took a lot out of her, especially strangers. “Well, I’ve got a room now. We can go and talk there! Honestly, I hope I don’t get lost here. Osulas is like a labyrinth of cliffs and caves and buildings.” Helene talked to Idris as she led them through the inn, stopping and opening the door to the now occupied room that would be her home for the time being for her sibling.

I D R I S THEY SAY SILENCE IS GOLDEN. The silence they kept between then and stepping inside that quiet room was constant. The colt remained steadfast to Helene's side, but they refused to open their mouth, much less step in front of their elder sibling while took care of financial matters. Even while she spoke, with the room taken care of, Idris could only manage a few occasional nods in reply to her words. Soft hums indicated that they were slightly lost in their own racing thoughts.
As soon as the bedroom door had shut behind them, the seal bay colt made their way over to the lofty bed that the room included. They hopped up and tucked their long, silken legs beneath their body. Now in the quiet of a private room, and in the company of their sister alone, Idris's quiet nature completely changed. "It takes some getting used to, but after a while you can start recognizing parts of the city by landmarks. It's how I've gotten around here." They explained. "If you run out of money, I can probably find someone who will let you stay."
They glanced out the window, peering at the yellow light that shined through the glass pane. "Mm' sorry I haven't written to you lately. Things got super busy..." They admitted gently. "But, Osulas is actually, better than I thought it'd be. Besides Donny and Yeshua, I've come to know a few horses..." They hadn't really expected that by becoming apprentice to Adonis would also mean meeting some of the council, and even members of the Sultan's family. Much less had they expected to befriend the sultan's adopted son, Noatak. It was though they had a family away from their family. "So, did dad say anything about where he's going, specifically? I mean, if this war really happens...he didn't say he's going to Eithne, did he?"
