Edmond | War Forged | Stone Circle Early summer -- 1678The early summer morning air was brisk and cool, but not necessarily unpleasant as Edmond quietly made his way through the streets of Skeldr Town. It was a relatively quiet day as many horses seemed to be going about their normal business, much to the stallion's relief. Moving at his usual pace, the unicorn couldn't help but take in the city as he made his usual rounds, meeting up with those he had important business to attend to as he went. He stopped at his usual bookstore, happy to speak with the owner about the most recent book his young daughter had picked up. It was a series of books that he couldn't help but want to keep tabs on, and as usual, the owner agreed to keep an eye out for any more of them. Edmond was relieved. Alyshia had gained a voracious apatite when it came to books... something that both made Edmond proud, and concerned him, as his current library was beginning to dwindle in books she hadn't read. Saying goodbye to the owner, he went back out into the streets, continuing his way down towards where the market was. The stallion by no means needed to gather any kind of supplies, food was well stocked within his newly finished home at this point in time. Yet, he couldn't help but want to stop by to see if any familiar faces could be found on his walk. Post 1 | 248 Words

Cormac Bloody Flank Raider Cormac gawped in awe as he stood just beyond the first market stall. There were so many horses just milling around, poking their noses into the stalls and handing over the crystal shards in their purses in exchange for a prayer idol, or some leather scraps, or a hunk of dark bread - the possibilities seemed endless to the young colt, this world so different to his own that his eyes could barely keep track of all the wonderful sights. And the smells! Somewhere, a stallholder was cooking some sort of broth, and the pleasant aroma teased his nostrils on the breeze.
His stomach growled loudly - the journey to Skeldr was a long one even for an adult, and Cormac was far from physical maturity. But he'd wanted to get away, to escape the claustrophobia of his home encampment, and the constant presence of his younger brother, demanding the attention of anyone and everyone who happened to be passing. The growling of his stomach increased to a roar, dragging him from his thoughts and sending him stumbling towards the food stall clutching the few shards his father had given him to visit the market. "Hello?" he called to the stall owner, who looked down at him with something the colt could not diagnose, before announcing that he did not give out food for free. Gulping, Cormac reached for his purse and tipped the shards onto the stall's table. "I have shards," he squeaked, eager to show the stallholder that he did understand how buying and selling worked. Looking around for a moment, the stallion on the stall swept the shards into his own purse without so much as a second glance at the colt in front of him, before returning to his business. "But... but I paid you..." Cormac began, eyes wide and confused. But all that earned him was a warning clip around the ear and a clear message to shoo and stop being a nuisance.
Knowing when he was beat, the still-hungry colt swished his tail in frustration and wandered away from the cruel stallion on the stall, too absorbed in himself to notice where he was going.

Edmond didn't see the young colt get his shards taken away by one of the many stall owners, nor did he really hear any of the quiet complaints that had been spoken as the hungry child moved away from the stall.
However, he did see the colt. It was one of the first things he took note of, a tiny scrap of horse compared to most, and tinier still when Edmond thought about his own child back home. It looked as if the poor thing hadn't had any food in months, and Edmond, being the kind of unicorn that he was, couldn't help but worry about the poor thing.
After all, most of his dealings in the town, aside from looking for familiar faces, was seeing which horses and families were down on their luck. He didn't always go out of his way to do anything for them, as some weeks he was too busy hurrying off to deal with his various stone circle duties.
But it was always wise to come off as a horse that cared in the public, and Edmond really did care for most of the horses within the War Forged...
He shook the thought off, turning his gaze back towards the colt. "Hey." He called out, not unkindly. "You look a little lost." Post #2 | Word Count: 218
