I D R I S THEY SAY SILENCE IS GOLDEN. It was noon and the sun had crawled up to its zenith, showering the dusty, dirty steps of Osulas in a veil of red light. The crowds here were few, and the little colt had been making certain to stay along the side of the street where they felt they would be safe. In the midst of this severe drought, Osulas was packed with horses, coming from all over Sedo and beyond in order to replenish their resources. Idris, on the other hand, remained here; content to be within the company of their mentor. But Adonis was out, and in his absence, his young apprentice was supposedly in charge of keeping an eye on the young Noatak...
The young pegasus was visiting today. Unfortunately Idris wasn't too good at babysitting; they had never really done such a thing before and gods know how well any attempts may have gone for them in the past. Most of their peers were loud, excitable, and a bit too hyper...sometimes Idris envied that, for if they had those traits they had confidence they'd fit in more. But, accompanying the adopted son of the sultan and his bondmate settled an extra layer of pressure on their shoulders. Poor Idris could feel themselves chickening out just thinking about it! The young tabiano sucked in a deep breath, and exhaled through their mouth--then sputtered in coughed when they had breathed in some of the kicked up sand. Stay focused, stay calm. No more kids' stuff, They told themselves.
"You're an apprentice now..." They mouthed to themselves, silently, as they waited for Noatak to arrive. It would probably be the one time they'd open their mouth today, until they'd get some peace and quiet again.

Noatak Fledgling
Noatak's parents had much to do and while sadly it meant, poor Noatak could not tag along. His fathers spoke greatly of having him follow along someone a bit like himself. Quiet and observant. Noatak honestly wasn;t so sure of that, many of the others around himself were loud, and while at times he didnt mind being aloud, if there was good reason for it. Like jumping out to scare his dads, that was always fun, especially when they fell down in fear and Noatak would have to jump on them to wake up. He always liked that, but this? This he was entirely unsure of. Eyes glanced up to his current guardian an equine that would lead him to the place to meet Idris. Noatak's parents hoped perhaps that would break him out of his shell from which he hid so deeply in. Once in Osulas his guardian mentioned towards a dark colt. "Thats Idris, they'll be showing you around. It's alright, go over and say hello."
The Guardian nudged Noatak forwards, and he gulped deeply, before taking in one shaky breath and trotted forwards. Though as he looked over his shoulder, he spotted his guardian trotting off, and Noatak felt the fear creep in. Eyes widen as his ears bent down to his skull as he made a b line towards Idris. Wings tucked deeply into themselves Noatak was trotting quickly towards Idris, as he approached his head hung low nervously as he looked to Idris. He paused for a moment gulping. "Hello..." he remarked so softly, like a feather falling from the sky. Blue eyes looked to Idris, before quickly looking away in nervousness. Noatak wasn't so used to this, but many say young colts like himself would often play around the city, why did he feel so different then?

I D R I S THEY SAY SILENCE IS GOLDEN. From the streetway turned a pair of horses; a much older horse, and the winged colt, Noatak. Idris stiffened up, and straightened up their neck. Although little Noatak was so much younger than them, being the child of the sultan himself prompted the twelve year-old to make themselves appear more presentable. Their figure not only did that, it made them stand out against the other horses making their daily commute through the canyon walls.
Sucking in a deep breath, Idris's chest swelled, trying to present pride and composure in the face of the sultan's child. They normally held that stance in front of their elders; in an attempt to appear mature for their age. It often didn't work so well with other foals, unfortunately.
Thankfully, the beginnings of what could be a more amiable figure could be seen in Noatak's posture. The foal seemed nervous, by the way he tucked his wings to his sides and held his ears flat, and how he looked away upon giving a shy hello. Idris wondered if he was just shy meeting new people or nervous as much as they were. Thankfully, the child sympathized. That and the pressures that they were giving themselves, prompted them to attempt a simple peep in greeting. It didn't really finish.
"He..." What was the beginning of a hello faded away into an awkward pause, their mouth still slanted open as the courage they had mustered to speak melted away in an instant. One must know, that once the colt loses the comfort to speak in front of someone, they won't speak for most of the remainder of the day.
Almost instantly, the poor child became deflated, and they craned their neck down to eye level with Noatak, expecting to be judged. Most other foals asked if they could speak, and some would probably be confused why they left a word unfinished. Their anxiety had gotten the best of them, and already they wondered if the best part of the day had ended here.

Noatak
Noatak watched the other colt with a curious manner and when he began to speak, he muttered but part of a word before closing up. Noa watched as Idris lowered their head to look at Noa. A faint head tilt as he was a bit confused, but yet he smiled brightly instead, offering the best one he could muster. "Idris." he spoke to the other colt showing he already knew their name. "I'm Noatak." he remarked a bit shyly his voice as soft as a whisper. Yet the young young nearly jumped out of his skin as an equine passing by nudged into him. Heart flared as he quickly skittered to the side of Idris hiding away from the things he could not see.
Nostrils were flaring as he took in deep breaths trying to calm himself down, but this place was scary, so many horses all around. Hardly any of them was a face he knew, some he had seen, but that did not bring much comfort to the small colt. Eyes looked down as his ears bent back, the faint look of tears seemed to filled the poor child's eyes. He was confused and nervous and scared and didnt know what to do. All he could muster was to lean into Idris for comfort a bit. He had to be brave it was what his dads had told him. That he had to learn and see the world, but Noa had almost ran away to avoid it all. But having someone a bit near his own age did bring him some comfort and someone that did not press him to speak was nice as well. Noa never had a a lot to say, small talk was terrible, and it was just easier to nod yes or no.
