Edmond "I take a few months break and the first time I show back up to a damn council meeting, I'm the first one to arrive?" The appaloosa male grumbled as he quietly walked into the quiet chamber that held Fort Skeldr's war table. The stallion huffed, pulling his cloak around him as he thought about the months previous. Today was going just swimmingly for the older horse. His adopted daughter and actual daughter were both out on a mission to find out about the bloody flanks and now this. Edmond couldn't say he was exactly surprised. He had always been the most punctual of horses in his earlier years, showing up to council meetings early was just a part of his normal character. It didn't however put his sour mood at ease. He was concerned for Aly and Addy, and on top of it all, he was beginning to develop some concern for Kathra as well. The three younger horses had become a part of his daily life, and now that they were all out in harms way... He pushed the thought back and settled down into his usual spot. Despite the fact that he had been vacant from the council for the better portion of the year, he had to admit it felt good to be back. He had spent far too long mourning over the loss of his wife while developing an angry kind of hatred for the herd she had come from. If only he had listened and settled down with another War Forged horse. Things would have ended quite differently. The stallion shook his head. He was here to govern, not to continue thinking about his own problems. Post 1 | 283 Words

EvokarStone Circle "He Builds Others Up Because He Knows What Its Like To Be Torn Down."
A soft sigh escaped his lips as he treaded to Fort Skeldr. It was time for a meeting, and in all honesty he really wasn't looking forwards to it. The last time everyone got together there was a spat between them all, and he wondered if the tension was high still with them all. Yet he tried not to dwell on such facts, they all were adults, but yet he had seen stallion act like colts. It made him shake his head wearily, Gods be good. He thought simply to himself. As he trotted forwards he reach Fort Skeldr and noted how another must have entered already. "Hmm." he paused a bit before entering into the War Room. Brow arose as he spotted the first equine there, Edmond. A stone circle member that was blessed to miss out on the first meeting, but maybe it was more of a blessing for him. "Edmond, it is good to see you have returned." Evokar remarked calmly as he trotted towards the war table.
Evokar took his spot with ease, allowing himself to waste no more time. He was tired, even though it was so early in the morning, he still was tired. His own trip to his family after the attack had left him exhausted he continually made trips out to them to assure all was well. Plus with rumors of the the unhindered have reached his ears he couldn't help be reassured they all were well. They were so far away from everything, if they got attacked how long would it take for anyone to notice? The thoughts made him feel even more exhausted. Evokar could use some tea, or something to help settle his wandering thoughts. Yet still he couldn't shake his nerves. "I hope all has been well with you Edmond." he remarked with a dip of his head respectfully to the stallion.

bahar i want to feel the pain and the bitter taste Bahar was breathing like a bull by the time she made it to the council chamber. The summer sun had baked her within her thick coat (which seemed to only grow thicker by the year at her age) and she was stained with spots of dark sweat from the climb, her fur matted with foam. Huffing and puffing, the old ox of a mare filled the room with sound when she entered, noisily clearing her throat all the way from the door to the table.
The cracks in the wide platters of her hooves almost squeaked on the stone. "Edmond," she half-coughed in greeting, the only courtesy she ever extended her fellow Circle members. Despite his senior status in Onea's highest court, Edmond still struck the nearly-ancient mare as a greenhorn. That said, anyone under the age of 40 need not have applied for Bahar's attention. She marched straight past Evokar.
Blowing out a few more labored breaths once she took her place, Bahar immediately slumped into her swayback posture, cocking a hind ankle at rest. Her eyes moved around the room as she coughed hard several times. For many long moments she didn't speak.
She cleared her throat again when Evokar spoke, roaring coarsely over his words and not seeming to notice.
Make no mistake. She did notice.
"Edmond," she began immediately after the sound in her throat died, not letting Evokar's statement sink in. "It's good to see you back where you belong." 247 words || post 1

Cosmos
Cosmos' nostrils flared as he heaved himself towards the top of the mountain. It was time for the Stone Circle to meet and something about those words always left a tingling in his belly. Cosmos was beyond anxious for the meeting to come, he had fallen ill the last big meeting and he was almost glad after all he heard. The day was warmer than Cosmos was used to and it was irritating the draft stallion as he felt the beads of sweat roll down sensitive muscles making him twitch.
As he entered the chamber his anxiety increased. Evokar's gentle face brought an eased smile to his lips, but it quickly dropped when a brutish mare came into his view. Bahar made most stallions quiver and Cosmos was no exception, apparently the warm day was affecting some more than others and his body suddenly regretted opening his nostrils as his eyes gazed over the mare's moistened patches. Oh how he hoped today would remain civil. He was pleased to see Edmond also, the stallion was similarly neutral as he was which helped ease his racing mind. He placed his large frame between Evokar and Bahar and gave a civil nod and grunt of hello to both. He preferred to be silent until completely necessary. Oh how he hoped his heart would stop racing.

Haku | Shield
A resounding sigh left Haku's lips as he pushed his weight into the large wooden doors that framed the Stone Circle's meeting. The ancient iron hinges creaked in protest as his shoulder pressed against the aging wood; spinsters speckling his white coat like a fresh layer of powdery snow. It was as heavy as it looked and after a moment of minimal movement, the stallion summoned the invisible magic that pressed the door all the way open.
His brow furrowed in disgust as he eye'd the dust that clung to his coat. 'Hira had better get a carpenter to fix that blasted door, so help me Kaia...' But thoughts were blurred by the soft mumble of words that came from the main hall, all of which were very quickly drowned out by the cracking boom of Bahar. Haku's ears flattened. Oh yeah, SHE was here as well. Bahar was well known among the higher ups; among the entire herd really. How could one forget such a hulk of mare? Yet Hira seemed to value the boulder's opinion (much to his utter distaste) and so here he was, standing in for his divine War Lord in a confined space with a brute, a know it all, a sap, and... who else was here again?
"What will Hira ask of us next, I wonder?" the words mused over his tongue loud enough for only him to hear. But it did not matter, he was here now and it was here he'd stay until this laugh of a Circle meeting ended. "Can't wait."
With a few strides, he moved gracefully into the room taking care to keep his distance to the edge of everything (and everyone) that was occurring within the small space. "Hetta had better get here soon..."

Edmond | War Forged | Stone Circle Edmond smiled easily, settling in as the others filled in. The first one to arrive was a relatively young member of the circle, but that didn't bother the older stallion. After all, he had been relatively young when he had started in his position. He smiled, preparing to respond to the new arrival just as a heavy coughing sound entered the room. The stallion's ears flicked back for a moment. He knew that cough almost as well as he knew the chamber he now stood in. Sighing lightly, the stallion forced a smile onto his lips and turned towards Bahar as she entered the chamber. "It's good to be back. I feel my absence was a little too long for my own good."
It had been true, his vacation had been a bit too long for his liking, but everything he had done had been in the name of his kids, so it wasn't like he had hated it. "I hope things haven't been too hectic in the past few months?" The question was named at all that were arriving, including the new horse who had just stepped in. He didn't seem to be the talking type, so as usual, Edmond moved on. It was normally how these events went. Boy, he had really missed this. It helped him forget that he was worried sick over Aly and Addy. Oh, why couldn't they have been more like the boys? Lad and Ales at least were both home. Granted... they hardly ever left home. He sighed slightly at the thought, taking note that a fourth horse had come to join them. Quietly, the stallion listened, flicking his ears back. "Where is Hira, anyway?" He couldn't help but ask. It had been quite some time since he had last seen his leader, and although he had to admit that the mare often angered him because of her contemporary ideals, he had missed knowing what was going on in his herd. "I thought that with a meeting, she'd want to be here... or is she out dealing with the affairs of those outside of our borders?"
Gods, he hated being so out of the loop. Post 2 | 367 Words

Evokar Stone Circle "He Builds Others Up Because He Knows What Its Like To Be Torn Down."
A draft entered the building, causing Evokar to glance into the direction to see how was approaching. Of course it was none other then Bahar, herself. The Cold Mountain. A personal nickname he had given her. A nickname fitting of such a mare, a mare how made others quick to anger by her words and ways, yet it was so futile to be angry at such as one as Bahar. So set in her ways, it was like being angry at a mountain that blocked ones path. Sure one could be so angered by it, but why would a mountain bend to ones will, why would the change? There was no reason for it. Bahar was chosen for this job like many others, she could spit out words like the harsh northern winds, and yet there was others like himself that acted like steady stream. While others here, he did not all to well, but he was sure he would know them soon enough. Bahar trampled over his words, and he let it slide. While she may ignore him, act as if he was never there. He did not need to show his worth to anyone, he knew who he was, and what he brought this Circle. "Greetings Bahar." he remarked to her, he would be the first to greet her, and though it may fall on deaf ears, he refused to stop being himself.
The next one to enter was Cosmos and Evokar felt a soft smile grace his lips. "Cosmo, welcome. Glad to see you here." he retorted to the stallion dipping his head. Eyes turned to Edmund as he spoke and nodded his head. "Much has happened perhaps during the meeting we can make sure everyone is caught up to speed." he remarked. It would be best to do so anyways, so many faces that had missed out on the last one. So much had happened since then. Evokar sighed a bit wondering if things would finally be set at ease for a while. Curled ears flickered up as he glanced to spot Haku. A quiet stallion who looked as pleased to be here as others. While Evokar may not know the stallion personally, he made sure to know names to faces, in his position it seemed to help to know others. "Haku, welcome." he remarked dipping his head respectfully to the stallion. Evokar was honestly unsure of who all was supposed to attend this meeting, and he had hoped not many more shields would be coming. From the last meeting, he had his fill for a while. A soft sigh escaped his lips as a few asked questions, others merely speaking to themselves. It felt a bit tense within the room.

The familiar screeching of a golden eagle caught Rollo's attention while he was casually strolling through the market on such a lovely Onean summer day. Upon locating the bird in the vast sky his gray eyes were able to quickly identify the Aodhian eagle as his mentor Ember's bird, due the the unusually dark feathers it possessed. Archimedes was preparing to make a graceful landing on Rollo's rump, but the unseasoned kid had a different idea so he took a few steps back, wanting him to land in front of him, on the ground. Well this caused too much confusion too late and Archimedes hit Rollo's neck, causing the teen to fall the ground. Archimedes tried to recover from the hit by taking flight again but his talons became tangled in Rollo's long, thick, and dark curly mane. The bird and equine both laid on the ground, fighting to be free from one another.
The squabble in the middle of the market ended almost as quickly as it began. Rollo got up and shook himself of the dust he acquired on his side and tried to tame his more wild than ever mane as Archimedes shook and ruffled his feathers to make them all lay straight again. The stallion leaned back, away from the giant bird standing in front of him, his voiced quivered slightly, "Uhh.. hello? Sorry about that, I haven't received an eagle before." He continued to stare at the eagle as Archimedes stared back at him. Moments passed before the light went off "OH YES, you brought a letter. May I read it?"
The young, spotted stallion rushed to the stone circle after receiving the letter from Ember's golden eagle. Being an emissary, the royal blooded Aodhian son would never attend such a meeting within the War Forged herd but the news was dire and all of the important members of his host herd would be there. Archimedes arrived with perfect timing for such news. Rollo slowed as he reached the intimidating doors, trying to catch his breath so he was able to speak. With his nerves quelled the teen pushed opened the doors, busting into their meeting. "I bring news." his voice cracked but was loud so all those attending could hear. "Aodh is going to war and we call upon our allies for assistance." His eyes darted from face to face, trying to assess the emotions in the room.

bahar from the dawn of time to the end of days Bahar was distracted already by the time Edmond spoke to her. "For the good of us all," Her voice was coffin-like in her reply, far away. Bahar let out a breath like air escaping a tomb. Her minutes-long sequence of settling sighs continued as more attendees of the meeting entered, offering pleasantries. She received them each with equal lack of concern --including a gruff but unprecedented snort in response to Evokar's verbal greeting--and, blinking slowly, kept her eyes on the door.
The presence of a Shield did not surprise her. Hira's recent absences were the primary topic of conversation in Bahar and Hetta's household, and they had been placing sour bets for weeks regarding the Warlord's absence at the upcoming meeting. To see her replaced on short notice by one of her guard dogs (at least, Bahar noted dourly, it was a proper Shield and not one of those simpering experiments in warfare Hira called Valkyries) was irritating but expected. It was Hetta's absence that had Bahar's attention.
Bahar had smelled enough trouble through the decades to know when it was coming. Hetta's nose was certainly as keen; it would take nothing less to prevent Bahar's duty-bound wife from keeping her word.
By the time Edmond asked after Hira's whereabouts, the stench of trouble was thick. Hooves and panting beyond the door dissolved her apparent stupor. She stood bolt upright. "Something is wrong-"
Then there was the Aodh boy, with news that changed everything.
"Boy," she said, her disrespect unintentional in her urgency. "Give me that." She nodded for him to approach her around the table, breathing loudly, craning her head toward the paper he held in case she had misheard. As if she had misheard. She wished she had misheard. That god-damned princess of a Warlord, where was she now?
"War with who?" she demanded, her seniority in the Circle giving her the unflinching courage to take charge. "You people have been wearing our friendship thin." She hacked twice, clearing her lungs, baring greenish teeth in gaping jaws. "What is it that Valore asks of Onea's Stone Circle?"

Edmond | War Forged | Stone Circle Bahar seemed to sit up at once, not even taking notice of what Edmond asked as she mentioned that something didn't feel quite right in the chamber. The stallion flicked his ears back, taking a moment to look around the room. He didn't notice anything that was too off... No unknown horses had entered and from the looks of it, she had been the only one to notice the strange turn of events in the air. Crazy old lady... she probably was just mistaking a cold chill for an ominous warning or something. Mares were known to do that kind of stuff on occasion, weren't they? Especially older ones. Then, before Edmond's question could even be answered, a young charge appeared through the doors, interrupting the quiet conversations in order to ask for help with some war. Maybe Bahar wasn't as crazy as he had originally thought. The stallion's eyes turned towards the younger horse, eyes taking note of how he seemed to be rushed by the news. The Aodh herd was going to war? That seemed rather odd for the horses that lived so near to the War Forged's lands. The stallion's face remained unchanged by the news, but his mind was racing. The Aodhian's had recently put a relatively strong damper in his mood whenever they were mentioned, considering his late wife had been one and had disappeared from him only to die on her journey home. The exact cause of her death was not something he was certain of, though he had a feeling the herd's lack of care had some cause for it. They always seemed more concerned with their indulgences. His ears flicked back as he debated on answering the younger ambassador, though it seemed Bahar was a bit more quick to react. Probably for the better; the old mare, despite her gender, most certainly could force one to their knees without issue. Edmond had a grudging respect for the crazy old horse, if only because he was very aware that there was wisdom in her years... (Even if she was at times a bit too quick to act). She asked the same question on the stallion's mind, who were they going to war with and what was the softer herd asking of them. Edmond frowned speaking up to add to the older mare's thoughts. "The War Forged will not jump into a meaningless fight. We need more information than a simple request to join you in war, boy. I'm sure you understand our wish to know more. Our alliance with Aodh is important, but without an idea of how much you are asking of us, we have no idea on how much of a toll this may impact upon us." He glanced at the others, curious to see how they would react. This seemed like a rather silly endeavor either way, and despite the fact that the Stone Circle decided many things, putting this into their hooves while Hira was away did cause the stallion some concern. He might not have liked having her as his War Lord, but she still needed to hear about any plans on going to war. This entire ordeal was rubbing Edmond the wrong way. He had to agree with Bahar, something didn't feel right. Post 3 | 550 Words

She was bloody late.
Though greatly lacking her manners could be, Hetta was a staunch practitioner of punctuality, pride banked on what had been a flawless reputation for showing up, getting down to brass tacks, and turning a job into a job well done. That Hira’s latest (brainless) blunder should keep her from a meeting- a meeting her daughter should be attending, no less- was another article on a long list of grievances. Grievances that would aired loudly and with feeling, preferably under the influence of an alcohol so strong it burned the whole way down. Hetta didn’t know a better way to relax, and wasn’t particularly looking for one.
As she trudged up Fort Skeldr’s mighty slope, muttering the sort of curses that would repulse the average lowlander, Hetta raised her head in time to spot a mobile blob slip into the fortress. Beyond ten feet her vision was incredibly useless, but it had enough juice left to discern that the horse wasn’t a member of the Stone Circle. Too small, not the right color… eh. Who was smear of gray and spots? Hetta mentally rolled through a catalogue of Skeldr Town’s residents, came to an unfortunate conclusion, and subsequently quickened her pace.
She arrived just as the Call to Hooves was delivered, and before Bahar had even wrested the summons from his grasp, Hetta was shaking her head. “Doesn’t matter who it is.” She grunted into the growing tension, allowing it to serve as the announcement of her arrival. Her eyes swung to Rollo, addressing him as though he stood for all of Aodh- which, as an Ambassador, he did. “We have our own problems to throw a Raider frontline at. What lowland herd could stand against Valore's prestigious armies to begin with?”

EvokarThe Stone Circle "He Builds Others Up Because He Knows What Its Like To Be Torn Down."
Ears started to curl back a bit as he listened to those around him, and he sighed a bit, though the door opening he assumed it would be Hetta, yet a young equine appeared. Eyes narrowed as his mind strained to recall who it was, and snorted a bit as he realized it was Rollo. Evokar was ready to great the young fellow, but he was much faster and his words carried such weight to them. Aodh requested their alliance in a war with Serora. Brows furrowed, what in Kaia's green earth was going on? Bahar was first to ask and Evokar for once found himself nodding alongside with her. What exactly did Aodh have planned. "Before you say such things, I find it best to explain the situation to us Rollo." he responded to the young one with a nod. While Bahar was quick to nab the paper and read for herself, Evokar was far more curious of what Rollo knew of this whole situation.
Hetta had finally arrived it seemed all was here, well besides the War Lord, herself. But lately she had been missing from so many things and he had wondered what all she knew what was happening. Hetta addressed him and Evokar sighed a bit at her words. Everyone so quick, so quick to add their little remarks. But this was the Stone Circle and war was not something to take so lightly. Aodh while pushing their limits with the War Forge at times, especially with this new law of theirs, are good allies to have. Not standing with Aodh could easily mean standing against them. "We need to hear what Rollo knows of this, war is not something we should take so lightly and disregarded so easily." he responded calmly. As like all the Stone Circle members they to should know they carry the weights of all the voices, and if an Emissary from Aodh to this very herd had something dire to say, then for Kaia's sake let the poor boy explain more.

The big, old mare nodded for Rollo to approach, Hira was not present so he obeyed and stepped forward to Bahar. She demanded he show her and craned her neck to see the letter so Rollo turned it for her to see as he was bombarded with questions from the others at the table. Just as he was about to answer, Hetta walked in adding another question to the pile. The boy decided it would be best to just explain what was on the paper along with his knowledge of the situation, then he could try his best to answer any remaining questions that were not cleared up.
"Aodh is going to war with Serora. We're calling on our allies who have always promised to help if the need arises." His brow furrowed, perturbed with the thought of what the Serorans did to his people, his King. Those desert dwellers made a fool of the Aodhians by breaking their half of the deal off early. "The Serorans broke their agreement with my herd and refuse to follow through. They need to be reprimanded and reminded of how Hireath works.

Edmond || Stone Circle || War ForgedSerora? The stallion's eyes lit up in surprise as he quietly edged closer to the piece of parchment the younger horse had placed down on the table. The horses of the desert had never been trouble for the War Forged as far as he could recall. With a quiet eye, he glanced over at his companions, curious to see how the others reacted to the news. The older horse sighed, obviously feeling the need to speak with the other stone circle members in private while the other horse went to do his own thing, yet he dare not suggest it. He had only just returned from his hiatus. which meant he most definitely didn't have the authority to speak... Not to mention, with Bahar here with the council, there was little reason for him to bother pretending he had any authority at all. The ancient mare had more authority in one hoof than he had in his whole being in that moment. Instead, he opted to ask yet another question to the Aodian. "Do you personally know the terms of this contract? I'm sure that all of us would like to know what exactly those desert lowlanders did to upset your herd so much as to declare war with them." He rose a brow, tilting his head to the side as he looked Rollo over . He did feel bad for being so critical of the emissary, but as it stood, he was the only one in the room that could answer any of the Stone Circle's questions... He paused, thinking over their alliance with the Aodians. "We did agree to stand by you if war ever broke out though..." He added, mostly speaking to himself. And of course our precious War Lord is nowhere to be found during something as important as this. Without her here, we can't exactly charge into war. Sure, we are the voice of our herd, but she's the one that could command everyone to fight as needed. Edmond thought to himself as he chewed his lip. Maybe there is something else that is going on here that I'm overlooking...

Cosmos
Cosmos felt an edging in his gut as more Hira replacements rolled in. His ears swivelled in displeasure as Haku rolled in. A sassy shield was the last thing this meeting needed, but he guessed it was Hira's choice as to who came to the meeting, so perhaps he could be of some use. Simultaneously as the Mountain called out smelly trouble and the young Aodhian burst through the doors Cosmos threw his head up in surprise, he had to admit he wasn't prepared for such commotion that day, but alas life in the War Forged had a tendency to surprise one. 'Aodh' 'War' and 'Alliance' surprised him furthermore. Who did the sissy ponies manage to piss off now? He thought to himself. He nodded along to Bahar's bellowing, she wasn't wrong, Valore were leaning pretty heavily against Onea's shoulder, but alas an alliance was an alliance eh? As questions were thrown about the room, Cosmos calculated.
He'll admit his heart jumped when Hetta came charging through. Now this was certainly going to get interesting. More questions were thrown at the boy who appeared very startled. Cosmos closed his eyes as Evokar added his point, "Let the boy speak" Cosmos pleaded to the Circle. Not knowing was making his mind race with theories. 'Serora' Cosmos chuckled to himself as he pictured their vast Onean mountain army trudging through sand. "Sand ponies? And I suppose we're expected to send our bulky army into the desert? Now this will require a whole new world of training." Cosmos thought out loud. He braced himself for the exclamations that were about erupt. Although he was deathly curious to learn what it is the quiet herd had done to upset the touchy Aodhians.

bahar the sound of iron shots is stuck in my head Bahar, seemingly placated by Hetta's sudden arrival, was abnormally silent after she read the announcement, resting the paper on the table beside her. She watched the boy speak, tightness in her brow and mouth betraying her disquiet even though her lips were sealed.
The room boiled over, the members of the Circle babbling (some, it seemed, to themselves), and Bahar slowed her loud breathing, considering carefully her next move. Serora. The expected answer, but also what she'd feared. Cosmos was quick to disparage Alya's desert-dwelling children --his valid logistical complaints aside-- but Bahar knew the ferocity of winged fighters. Furthermore, every horse in Serora was a soldier. Sure, the War-Forged bred strength, but Serorans carved it carefully into every citizen. Serora didn't need to have an army. Serora, in its entirety, was one.
And the War-Forged didn't fight in the sand.
The Serorans, as foolish as they were to break an agreement with the Aodhians (whose greed was fended off at every turn by the Circle, supposedly the fire herd's greatest friends) were desperate. Aodh had bartered with them for food. This wasn't a political squabble for the sand herd, it was survival. King Amadeus --or, more realistically, his adviser-- was leaning into a herd on the brink of starvation.
"You won't win." Her voice was quiet, not demanding, her previous roar was dulled to a wizened rumble. She turned away from Rollo to face the Circle. "The Aodh kingdom is putting pressure on a dangerous, dying animal. If the Serorans are cornered, if they're pushed hard enough, then all the king's horses won't matter."
"Aodh withholds Seroran supplies, but expects to forge out into the wasteland. As if they wouldn't be handily robbed by the sand birds." She coughed hard, her mouth dry from talking. "There's nothing for them to burn in the desert."

Evokar The Stone Circle
Curled ears listened to what Rollo had to say and it seemed it came with words heavy to the heart. Other spoke and it gave time for the young stallion himself to think. Going to war in a world so far from their own. These horses here were as hard as the frozen ground. Built for mountains, ready for winters war. The idea of sending an army out into the desert seemed a bit ridiculous. It was a drastic change in the weather. Their summer weather here was nothing compared to the heat of Serora. Before their army could even reach Serora what kind of shape would they all be in, while the heat of sun burning down on them. Edmond asked the question he too was a bit curious about, What truly went wrong where one would wage war? Would it not be easier to just cut all ties? Yet Evokar knew the answer to that already. Ears twitched as Cosmos seemed to be speaking aloud now, he felt himself wondering a bit as well. How do they expect mountain born equine to fight in a sea of sand. Sand was not firm like their own land. One miss step could be life or death, and so far it was seeming War Forged was but mere fodder to perhaps dwindled down Serora. A faint sigh escaped his lips as he closed his eyes for a moment trying to take this all in. Then like a rush of wind Bahar spoke, but not in her unruly way, but with firmness that made Evokar open his eyes to witness such things. As she spoke to the Circle, he nodded to her words, yet he felt his heart twisting. The more this seemed futile, the more and more Evokar knew of the strong bond between the two herds. For before he was even born Aodh and War Forged had been allies, and if they were to deny them aid in their time. Would it not greatly affect the War Forged? " We ask for time to discuss this out. Aodh asks much of Rollo, you must understand that we do not know the desert as well as our own grounds. Though all of War Forged should know how long we have been allies." he remarked gently to Rollo. While Evokar turned back to the Circle, he sighed a bit. Gods forbid Hira be able to actually show up for a meeting, he thought a bit bitterly even for an equine like himself. " So it seems we are left with a difficult choice, to risk our warriors in the sand, or to most likely ruin our greatest ally." He eyed them gently. In his heart he wanted to protect the herd, but closing themselves up on the mountains, turning their cheek in such matters as this did not do them much good. In his heart, he felt there was only one thing to do... Prepare for war. Post 4 WC || 454

Edmond | War Forged | Stone Circle
The stallion nodded, agreeing with all that spoke after him, taking mental notes on how each horse within the circle was responding. Yet, as he stood there, he couldn't help but hear Bahar's last words echo through his ears. "We have to consider-- what is worth marching our men into Hell?"
Evokar's words were nearly lost to him as the older unicorn thought of his two daughters whom were a part of Hira's cursed Valkyries. His mind focusing in Kathra, Addeva, and Alyshia as he considered what war would truly mean for the herd. The thought of the three younger horses trudging out into the Seroran desert only made his heart sink as the heavy song of war thrummed in his heart. He had seen battles, had tried to get on Garok's good side when the bloody flanks had surged in upon his people. He remembered the bloodshed and couldn't help but shy away from the dangers he'd willing be sending his children into. What else would Hira do with her Valkyries? If they were to march to war, those young fillies would be right there beside the most wizened of fighters... some of them wouldn't probably even make it back home if they marched into the desert. It came as a surprise to him that Serora was doing so terribly, granted, he also wasn't as aware of the other herds and their problems due to his forced vacation. He'd need to catch up on the news at some point if he was to continue doing his job well. The circle member puffed out his cheeks, not wanting to say anything of his own concerns while the Aodian was still in the chamber. The words he wished to speak would need to be done in private. Despite the close connection with Aodh, Edmond already knew his stance on the matter. He couldn't think of many things that would be worth marching anybody into the depths of hell; let alone worth marching his own children into it. He had made a promise when Addeva had been adopted into the family to keep her safe, and he couldn't help but feel the familiar fatherly protectiveness come over him as he thought about his first born, Alyshia. "The council should speak in private, yes." He finally said, agreeing to what Evokar had to say on that matter. "We have a lot to consider, and appreciate the news. You have done your herd a great service by coming here. Hopefully we can reconvene with you once a decision has been made..." He paused, realizing that he had probably spoken past his position, as it seemed that Bahar was the head of this council meeting. Gods be damned, Hira had to have a good excuse as to why she wasn't here. Post 5 | 470 Words

Cosmos
As Cosmos paced he mulled over the options hard. As said, the sand ponies were an entire army in themselves, their children could probably take on some of the lesser experienced warriors, which made him think of the Shields. He reminded himself of Haku's presence, "Well Haku, what's your take on this situation. Is this alliance worthy of sending our mountain army into the sinking sands?" He questioned the shield. Their were more perspectives to this dilemma than the wisened Circle's.
In the absence of their War Lord, Cosmos tried to use his brain to think how she would, look at the problem from different angles. So, if Serora had broken their alliance with Aodh, they couldn't be doing that terribly then, could they? "But why have the sand ponies broken their deal with Aodh? Something must be going right for them if they can afford such conflict, right?" Cosmos questioned aloud. He shook his broad head as a million thoughts were racing about, trying to compete to be the logical thought.
He listened to Evokar and Edmond in turn and agreed. "Alone we shall discuss this. Thank you Rollo, this could take some time." He stopped pacing and racked his brain for solutions, unfortunately he was struggling.

bahar from the dawn of time to the end of days Bahar watched her words sink in to her fellows, relieved that her sudden seriousness had been received with appropriate gravity. She was well aware of her status as a controversial figure in the herd -- an unwavering rock, unmoved by the stream -- and knew that her lack of polish rarely gave her a warm reception. She spoke for the conservative generations of yesteryear in a herd that was quickly doing its best to erase them. It was not a glamorous task. Even so, to see that the circle opened their ears when she lowered her voice was encouraging to her.
She did not offer additional dismissal of Rollo after her colleagues bid the boy to leave the room. Bahar breathed rhythmically, loudly, leaning her weight from one rheumatic leg to another as she watched Hetta. They'd lived through many wars, and would likely live through this one, but Bahar did not relish the notion. In response to Cosmos's question, Bahar cleared her throat and spoke: "Serora has very little at their disposal," she said. "All they have in the desert is their family and their principles. They place immense value on both."
"The slavery in Aodh flies in the face of Alya's morality. It was a matter of time before they folded in favor of freedom." Bahar's voice neither commended nor condemned the sentiment, but her voice was tense. 228 words | post 4

Edmond nodded towards Bahar, taking a moment to assess what Cosmos said before letting out a short snuff. He already knew what side he was against, but didn't want to jump into the conclusion when the rest of the circle was still speaking. With a tired eye, he rose a brow towards Haku, knowing that the shield would speak in his own time... if he chose to speak at all. For the time being, he couldn't help but turn back to Bahar.
"Bahar, you said it yourself that these horses are cornered, starving and trained from their early years to fight... breeding into their herd as much as we breed sturdiness into ours. They may have broken off the contract for many reasons... maybe they're better off than they seem, but I find that hard to believe with the amount of bountiful land they have... The desert is not a forgiving place." He sighed, shaking his head before glancing at the other horses around the table. "I feel as if I've missed out on much since my leave of absence... too much for me to feel comfortable in charging ahead in any kind of decision without listening to what's going on in the world... but there is one thing that I am concerned about..."
The stone circle member took in a slow breath before muttering under his breath so that only Bahar could hear. "The King of Aodh is still young, is he not? Do you think that the chance to prove himself in war is something he hungers for? Something that he feels will make his voice be heard by the other herds? What if this is only the beginning of what is to come?"

Evokar
Evokar remained silent as he normally did allowing other to speak while he merely listened. It wasn't as if he did not want to speak, he just wanted to see what others thought before he opened his own mouth to speak. He noticed how Haku has yet to say anything now, perhaps was doing the same as he was. Feeling out what others felt before speaking up. He listened to them discuss on what could have happened for the Serorians to suddenly end the deal, while some assumed they had gotten better, others expected them to fold due to their values. As for Evokar? He was truly unsure, but something most have been shown in their favor for the herd to end the bargain, so much so that the Aodhians are willing to go to war to it. It seemed foolish a broken deal means war, there had to be more to the story then what they knew.
Edmond brought up the boy king, and it made Evokar think on that notion. Would the child king be so willing to prove himself that he would go to war. No.. No.. Was all that Evokar could think, not a child that knew nothing of wars until their family had died and left a shaky king to rule. All knew of what had happened and it did not make a man of the king. Evokar shook his head gently at the notion. It had to be someone else pulling the strings, using the king as a puppet. No one knew the King to being a tyrant or thirsty for war. Someone else had to have taken advantage of the state of the boy king and using him a pawn int he grand scheme of things, as for that what though? It was another question Evokar could not truly answer.
As many discussed to others and threw out their thoughts and views, it seemed Evokar perhaps should speak his own. "I do believe the Serorians have to have something in their favor to end the deal, something so that Aodhians are willing to so easily to go to war to, when they could so easily break the ties and shut them out completely. There is something we are missing, but as to what. Only Rollo perhaps would know. As for the King of Aodh being so willing to go to war, I do not think that is the case. We all have heard the tales of the poor childs family being murdered and the poor thing taking over the Kingdom. The King has advisers, those they trust so dearly and if the king does not know what to do, who do they go to? The Advisers. I easily assume someone is pulling the strings on this, and pulling the curtains on the Kings eyes. But of course its all a theory such as everything else, besides all what we do know. Serora broke the deal, and Aodh is going to war and they ask us to aid them." They were still all blindsided by this and Evokar had wished Rollo would speak up and say something, allow them to be enlightened.

Cosmos
Cosmos did more mulling as the Circle discussed. His brain was filled with the pros and cons of the situation. They were the voice of the herd and he felt he knew his herd members well. Their herd was very pro war. It's in their name after all, so he didn't doubt that with their word and approval their herd would stand behind them and fight the sand warriors. It was in their hooves to decide whether their lives were worth the risk this battle. Aodh were certainly formidable allies to have, what if Serora were better? This was a question he mulled quietly in his mind, not daring to speak such thoughts aloud this early in the discussion.
He watched Edmond as he spoke, the gruffness in his tone hinted that he had made his mind up. Cosmos understood, the older stallion had a family to think of whereas Cosmos did not so much. He enjoyed having more perspectives at the table, that's why there was more than one of them making these decisions.
At the discussion of the boy King, Cosmos couldn't help but agree. The child was young and so easily influenced at that age with so many responsibilities on his small shoulders and his advisers were surely involved. It was a similar yet different situation to what happened in their own herd. The main difference being they would discuss with their War Lord when she was available before any decisions were finalised. Cosmos had a gut feeling that war was inevitable.
