Tegan | Talori | Tenderfoot
It was raining today. The air was littered with round drops of water that seemed eager to hit the ground. You would think it was nearly evening with the lack of color in the sky, but shockingly enough the day had just begun. A small pegasus wandered through the tropical grasses, his head hung low to nibble on any bit of foliage as he passed, the colt was curious to discover all he could in this new habitat, yet, he was a bit nervous as to who he would meet. Instead, he spent most of his time avoiding other's company and marching around on the little settlement that he was now instructed to call home.
Still, there wasn't much to do, the place wasn't huge and so Tegan found himself heading in circles on more than one occasion. He didn't expect today to be much different, instead he anticipated it to be even less interesting due to the gloomy weather. Perhaps it would be best if he just turned back toward his family's little hut and slept the rest of the day, it wasn't like there was anything better to do. The colt rolled his eyes at the thought, not much to do, yeah alright, but if he was stashed away in that little house he would surely keel over. The place was much to small for his family of, now, six, and with three other teen-aged sisters the rooms were full off bickering and back handed insults that the young boy would prefer to avoid.
Tegan stretched out his feathery tail as he trudged amongst the bushes, his ears flinching from side to side in search of something to grasp his attention. He dropped his hocks and slid to a stop when he spotted a beetle near the size of his face, but it served to just appear bigger due to it's hiding place between a log and some fallen leaves. The feathered colt took a deep inhale before heading toward the creature, and only stopped to let out a puff of air and send the insect flying. He raised his head and perked his ears as he wallowed in his own self satisfaction. At least he had found something to entertain himself for a moment.

Ever since the chaos trembled and shook Aquore she had felt so off. Fear crept through her mind, no matter how often her mother told her that 'everything was fine' and that 'everything would turn back to normal soon'. But how could it? The events that happened -- the horror of a sacrifice that she just couldn't shake off. It had changed Aquore to it's core, it had shaken the horses living in it and so had it done to her too. Every night she would wake up, shaken, bathing in sweat from that same nightmare that seemed to haunt her mind. Why would it keep to that one Pegasi filly? When would the next be sacrificed -- murdered? It haunted her, no matter how she tried to shake it off.
The conditions in which they were shipped off to Torrine with didn't help either. Leaving her room behind, leaving her house, to accept the so called protection of the Emperor. It was all so much to digest. Torrine didn't feel like protection either, it felt like a prison. She couldn't stand the large, high fences that they had to live in between, the small house that was now called their home. She just couldn't get used to it. With a sigh her eyes traveled to the small windows of their new family home, to the little drops of water that streamed down the glass. The weather outside was dreary, which made her doubt her decision to go for a walk, but her legs ached and the worrying look her mother shot her every few seconds were slowly driving her crazy.
Thus she turned her ears around and pulled herself up on her feet, and through the door outside. As soon as she felt the little drops of rain falling on her back a shiver ran over her spine and she instantly regretted her decision. Her ears were slightly turned backwards on hopes it would keep the water out of them and her wings were tucked tightly against her speckled sides. Even though she hated rain, she couldn't deny the refreshing effect it had on her body and her mind. And the walk wasn't so bad either.
The rounds she could walk weren't that big as Torrine was set up small, to keep it so called 'protectable'. Her eyes traveled over the high fence that surrounded their living area as she walked over the path, her amber eyes crossing with one of the Guards on the other side. No prison, huh? She didn't believe it for one second. But who was she to doubt the high end and their decisions? She turned and choose another path -- one a little more private, and one less likely to cross paths with another horse. She was not in for a polite talk. She didn't feel like having to lie about how she was feeling, and didn't feel like spilling the truth either. She just didn't feel like acting as the grown up others expected her to be. She felt like nothing more than just a child.
Her hooves left footprints in the wet ground beneath her, the soft tickling of the rain on the leaves around her slightly comforting her. It made her feel like she was alone, while in fact she actually wasn't. A painting of white and grey, and even feathering of green spotted her eye, and soon her gaze followed. Her heart sank for a moment, but when she spotted two large wings and a body too tiny to be mature, her worry dissapeared. He was just a colt, and by his green and silver feathering a Pegasi like her too. She doubted for a moment if she would approach him, or just try to walk past without starting a conversation. But why wouldn't she? She snorted softly as she approached him -- leaving a few feet in between them when she stopped in her tracks. ''Hi! What are you doing?'' she asked curiously, tilting her head slightly as she tried following his focussed gaze towards something in between the greenery.

His look of fulfillment was quickly overtaken with a look of surprise and he spun around to stare into the eyes of a light grey mare, not much older than himself. Tegan snorted, it wasn't too often he met another child around Torrine. His ears were flicked forward in interest, he had been waiting quite awhile to have something, anything to do. The overcast day and sprinkling rain seemed to bring a dull look to more than just the sky, but to the equines that roamed the settlement as well.
"Oh! Nothing really, just flicking beetles." The colt didn't realize how odd that sounded. "There's not really much to do around here.. What are you doing?" Flicking his tail, Tegan squinted his eyes and leaned closer to the mare, she was a bit taller than him and so he had to stretch his neck to seem like there wasn't such a difference in their size.
"I've never seen you before. Are you one of those who just hides away in their house all day? I mean, I understand, being here in Torrine is a bit depressing." The pegasus colt rocked back into his normal position, still holding his head high in attempt to appear taller. It wasn't rare for Tegan to make insensitive assumptions, in fact, he did it quite often.
"Uhh.. Not that that would be a bad thing, is what I mean." He believed he caught himself yet again from a possibly rude comment. "Right.." He said looking down toward the leaf covered soil, "I.. Uh.. I like the roses! In your mane!" Ruffling his multicolored feathers he eyed the pink flowers scattered admits the gray horse's hair. Perfect change of subject. Just perfect. WC: 286

Her ears perked forward as the colt spun around on his feet, his gaze landing upon her as soon as he turned around. She pulled the corners of her lips up in a friendly smile, hoping she hadn't startled the colt in whatever he had been doing. That had never been her intention. Her amber eyes observed him silently in the few seconds that passed. His feathers struck her the most. They were pretty and all kind of green and silvery colors. She imagined that if the sun would shine upon them, they would almost look like jewelry decorating him.
Beetles? What was so interesting about beetles? She frowned slightly, but the smile on her face remained. She'd read a small piece about them in one of her mother's books, about how they could spread diseases and such. But the book was old, and the piece of information even more so. She bit her tongue though -- no need to be bookworm in front of someone she just met. ''Well,'' she mumbled, slightly surprised by his suspicious question. She giggled when he squinted hie eyes together, leaning closer towards her and stretching his neck to win a few inches. ''I guess I was just taking a walk,'' she flicked her tail and slightly tucked her wings closer against her body to shield herself from the rain that tickled down her back. ''Not that this weather is so inviting...'' she added as her warm, amber eyes gazed up to the sky for a second. It was clouded -- not a chance to see but a shard of the sun's light.
She squinted her eyes as he spoke again. He came off as quite rude (she could hear her father in the back of her mind going off how that was not the way to speak to one another) but from the way the colt spoke, and how he adjusted his words, she believed he might not mean it that way. Thus she ignored it. ''It is a bad thing though. My mom likes to keep my locked up all day. Makes me crazy,'' she said with a roll of her eyes. She didn't even want to think about the preaching she would be hearing later when she came back all soaking wet. 'That was no way a lady should look'.
His thoughtless comment from earlier made her smile in surprise when he commented her on the roses that decorated her wavy mane. ''Uhh, t-thank you,'' she stammered. It confirmed her thought on how his comment hadn't been rude, but had just been thoughtless.
''I like you feathers,'' she said in return as her gaze wandered of to his feathery tail swept softly around him. She smiled as her amber gaze lingered upon him a little longer, and than traveled over the greenery and to the big, high fence that kept them locked in. ''Every time I walk past this I can't help but wonder if there is a way to get out,'' she said in a slightly hushed tone, her gaze back to his green eyes. ''I mean, not that it is appropriate to think like that,'' she corrected herself, turning her ears around. If Guards could hear her, man, she could be in trouble. ''But I can't help but wonder. Don't you?'' She asked curiously.
