Tag-a-LongTegan (intotherealwild) & Ceto (War-Colt)
Tegan | Talori | Tenderfoot
The sun was still rising in the sky, awakening the day with colors of gold and lilac. You would not expect such a young colt to be awake this early in the morning, but none the less, a small painted figure emerged at a high speed, twisting through the broken, dusty roads of Inaria’s surrounding villages. The large wings attached to his withers and flowing feathered tail seemed to dislike the speed of his gait as they caught the breeze. His wings seemed to naturally lift him off the ground with every propelling upward step that came from the colt. Though, Tegan made sure to keep his hooves pounding on the soft dirt even though his natural instincts told him to open his odd colored wings to ease his body’s exertion. After all, flying around Talori would not help him to fit in. At least that is what he heard, so it must be true.. Right?
With each exhilarating breath Tegan could hardly contain his excitement. The rumors he had overheard last night from the other young Tenderfeet still fresh in his mind. Pirates! A pirate? Multiple pirates?! Well, either way Tegan had eavesdropped enough to hear that a ship of rogues had come to port that late afternoon. For repair they said! Probably from some near-death experience! ..Or was it that they needed supplies? Either way, Tegan’s curiosity felt like it was rising through his body in a wave.
As his adrenaline pushed him forward, the colt hardly realized when he made it to the docks. He was about to come racing toward the ships when he thought back- Pirates. These were pirates. Real ones this time! He had to be smart. Tegan collected himself and tried to steady his breath. He needed to appear natural, well, as natural as a colt of his color could. He strolled over the boardwalk and was disappointed by only the stupid little sail boats he came across so far. In annoyance, he become less and less calm, cool, and collected-- until he spotted it. The ship was magnificent with a carving of the Sea Goddess sprawled across the bow. That’s where his nerve dwindled. Tegan dived behind a collection of barrels and watched the ship from afar.
Where were the pirates? The rogues? Perhaps they were still asleep? Shouldn’t they be awake by now? Tegan watched with pestering eagerness.

CAPTAIN CETO Tell me that you are not a thief, but I am bad company.
The early morning had decided to start of destructive. With the rise of the sun came the rise of the water.. rushing through The Huntress's deck. Luckily for the hippocampus mare, she had managed to catch it early while her crew slept through her shouts, and it was in harbor before it could find the bottom of the ocean. Seething, the red mare stood on deck, her tail flicking with irritation and tentacles wrapping around her back legs as if they dared to trip her up. She looked upon the dark red wood of her ship under the morning sun's rays, watched the shimmering white, red-dipped fabric of her sails as they fluttered in the breeze, and listened to the sounds of the ocean crashing against its broke sides. Craftsmen hustled around the mare's pride and job, hoping to fix it up quickly in order to not fall under the mare's harsh threats.
If ya dont get me back out in the ocean by noon, i'll have yer heads.
Taking a deep breath, she turned away to allow the workers to do their jobs, her short finned mane rustling in the breeze and tugging against her neck. The air was still cool, for the sun had yet to rise completely. Her hooves pressed her forward, hoping the brisk walk would clear her head. Narrowed ruby red eyes glared daggers at anyone who dared look at her, her teeth mashed together behind her maw and ears twisted to the side with irritation.
No, she would not calm down.
Her ears flicked to the side at the sound of shuffling hooves, her brow narrowing as her gaze darted to the side. Had those barrels moved? She swore they had moved..
With a huff, she flicked her forelock from her gaze, deciding to shrug it off. She didnt have time for haunted barrels when she had a blasted hole in her ship! However, passing said barrels, she noticed a set of brightly covered tail feathers peaking out from behind their "hiding place." A look of disgust crossed the mare's face, her head held high and ears laid back.
A pegasus? With their eyes on her ship??
She rounded the barrels with an unamused stare on her face, her gaze landing on a painted child; his wings strange and oddly colored. Disgusting. "Aye, kid." She barked. "What're ya doin, starin at my ship."

Tegan | Talori | Tenderfoot
Quiet.. Quiet.. Tegan didn’t realize he was holding his breath, but by the time he started feeling dizzy he was caught in his own act. At the sight of the red mare, the scrawny pegasus exhaled a gust of air that he seemed to be holding for days. Oblivious to the hippocampus’s cold stare, the colt didn’t miss a beat, instead he leapt upward, back onto all four feet and out of his uncomfortable crouched position.
“Just waiting to see pirates!” Were the first words to spring from Tegan’s mouth. It took a moment for him to retrace what the mare said, but once it settled in his mind he looked at the mare with overwhelming excitement, and not a trace of fear.
“Wait! Did you say your ship? You’re a pirate then, a rogue, a dangerous thief!” The colt was giddy, after all, he had never met anyone of this rank before. His tail had already begun to expand, up and outwards in all of his adrenaline, something he usually tried to prevent.
Though, it didn’t take much convincing of his pegasus characteristics to quiet down this time, because they soon fell, as well as his enthusiasm. Tegan’s painted features were then replaced with a look of suspicion.
“Are you sure you are a pirate?” He raised a brow to the mare who seemed double his size, “Have you ever killed anyone?” As if this question would settle it for good.

CAPTAIN CETO Tell me that you are not a thief, but I am bad company.
Her brow quirked when the boy chirped about wanting to see pirates, excitement overflowing from his features. If she looked just right, she swore she could see sparkles in his eyes. She opened her mouth to respond, but he was already chattering off again, his tail feathers fluffing in excitement. She found herself taking a step back, her ears twisted back in disgust. Could pegasi even keep their filthy feathers under control? No one needed to see that.
As soon as his excitement had exploded, however, it settled, suspicion finding his features and confusion finding the mare's. Her lack of understanding the minds of children was definitely showing.
"Have i killed anyone? What kinda dumbass question is that?" She snorted, her freckled face dipping against her neck as she looked down at the boy with slight surprise. When a rogue walked down the street, everyone assumed there was blood on their hooves. They didnt just.. ask. She pondered his question for a moment or two, a smirk finding her lips as she stepped closer to the painted colt.
"Sure i have." She hissed, her tone like a snake, ready to strike. She had might as well humor him. "Where do ya think the red splash on me ship's pretty little sails came from? It sure wasnt no painting accident. Their bodies went right to the ocean's depths, right to Cascade's awaiting grasp." Her voice fell hushed. "Some werent even fully dead when i tossed em over."
With a wink, the pirate pulled herself away from the child, her head held high as she turned to leave. The smirk stayed plastered on her lips, her eyes narrowed with arrogance. If she were lucky, her words would scare him off her trail.

Tegan | Talori | Tenderfoot
The colt raised his brows as the mare leaned in to speak to him, and soon, a look of suspicion was replaced with pure awe. He didn't realize his bottom jaw slowly crept open to aid in his look of astonishment. Tegan's multicolored ears flipped forward and his little hooves clapped happily against the pavement as the freckled hippocampus pulled away.
"Wow.." Was all he managed to croak out, he ruffled his feathers in pure glee. He thought he felt chills actually! That was until he saw the mare heading away from him. "W-wait! Where are you going? What are you off to now? I think it's pretty cool about your ship's sail! Can I come on it? I would love to see it!"
The colt was nearly bouncing up and down now, the feathers between his two ears seemed to flick back and forth with his ears as his tail already began to swell.
"I could be a great help you know! At least until the day is over, because uh, well.. Mom will kill me if I don't get back for dinner.. Literally! But I can help catch prisoners and stuff! I may look small, yeah sure, but ya see-" He raised his wings slightly with lifted eyebrows, "I'm actually a pretty good fighter AND my wings make me look much bigger than I actually am. Win, win really, well for you!" Tegan raised his head and flattened his ears back in a satisfied grin. "You get an excellent addition to your crew and I won't even take up sleeping space, since I have to be back by dark anyway!"
`At this point, the painted boy was trotting to keep up with the mare's stride. She was much bigger than him, not that Tegan realized it, nor the threat that she could actually be. Instead, the fear he should be plagued with was dosed with a wave of excitement.

CAPTAIN CETO Tell me that you are not a thief, but I am bad company.
The mare thought that she was home free, humming softly to herself as she sauntered away from the stunned colt. However, the sound of his dancing hooves caused her to stop, her ears flattening and teeth gritting together with annoyance. She had told children his age that story and they all shook in their boots when she walked by- what was wrong with this kid. He thought it was cool?
Wont be so cool when i have yer head on a stick. The mare mused, turning her cranium to look back at the bouncing bird as he trailed after her. She rolled her eyes and huffed, turning away to continue her stroll. If he wanted to follow, he would have to keep up.
"No, you cant go on my ship!" She replied, her brow furrowing as her gaze traveled down to the lad. "If I had a pegasus step foot on her deck.. may Cascade strike me down; she will, actually." The mare snorted, a frown pulling across her lips. "You keep yer feathers.. away. Yer far too scrawny to fight, anyways. Other pirates could - and would - eat ya for dinner."
The mare suddenly stopped, swinging on her front hooves to stand in front of the colt. Her long tentacles shifted against her back legs, twitching with irritation. "Listen, kid, how old are ye? Five? Seven?" She was never good with ages. "The sea is more dangerous than ye think, she'll swallow ya whole with no remorse." She paused, giving him a once over with a raised brow. "And those wings of yers? That just makes ya tastier."
The mare scoffed to herself, turning on a whim and flicking her tail against the boy's face as she went. She didnt have time for his nonsense. A pegasus. Child. On her ship?
Please.

Tegan | Talori | Tendefoot
Tegan's eyes slammed shut as he stumbled backwards with a high head in a failed attempt to avoid the pirate mare's flicked tail. It didn't take long for him to recover however, just after regaining his footing and shaking his head the colt popped into a canter, straight after the mare. His ears were pinned with a look of determination.
"Five?! I'm not five!" Was the first thing to escape his tongue. "I'm ten, in fact. I don't look five." He nearly shouted, quite offended, as he loped after the large mare. The small chimera let out a huff of air as he caught up to the hippocampus and he slowed down to a trot. "Besides, if the sea ever tried to eat me, I would just fly away from it." He said with an exaggerated flap of his colorful wings.
"Just because you don't like pegasi, doesn't mean we can't do as much." He said with a snort. Sure, Tegan was brave, but that young bravery didn't go without a large dose of stupidity, or an even larger dose of possible self destruction.
"I could prove it to you even! What would you have me do?" The colt raised his head high, ready to accept any task. He was going to get onto his very first pirate ship no matter what it took. WC: 224

CAPTAIN CETO Tell me that you are not a thief, but I am bad company.
The mare's brow furrowed, a smirk finding her lips. "Oh, ten." She corrected herself, though sarcasm dripped off her tone like venom. "Well, ye do look five." She snorted, taking note of his annoyance. Good. The pirate shifted away from the colt's flapping wings as he tried to make a point, her skin flinching as a feather just barely brushed her shoulder. Her muzzle scrunched up.
Disgusting.
"Ye cant escape the sea." She replied, turning her attention back to the path before her with a roll of her eyes. "Even ah fish like me would get swallowed if she so wanted it to be. Watch yer tongue." Her ears flattened as she snapped at the kid, pounding a hoof to the ground before moving off again with an annoyed flick of her tail.
The red mare found herself stopped, her ears pinned to her neck. He wanted to prove it? Prove that he - a bird - was worthy? Annoyance started to boil, anger rising in her blood. Had he not been taking her seriously?
Suddenly, the hippocampus mare whirled around on expert hooves, pulling a rusty dagger from a sleeve on her leg. "Do ye think this is a game?" She growled, keeping her voice down as to not attract attention. The blade of her knife glinted in the sunlight as she pressed it in the colt's direction. She took a step forward, her fins quivering and tentacles twirling around themselves with tension.
"GET LOST." She suddenly shouted, jumping at the chimera colt with a jab with her knife. She didnt intend to hit him with it; she just meant to hopefully scare him off once and for all.

TEGAN Post 5 | WC: 200
Facial features flinching, the boy leapt sideways, wings mildly extending to propel himself backwards and away from the rusty knife the mare had pulled on him. Tegan hovered a few feet off the ground now, easily out of range of the freckled pirate, if he so needed to be. He a forced gulp, the boy swallowed his nerves as he peered down at her, she sure seemed like the real deal, he pondered to himself. He needed to be careful; but smart.
Stuttering a bit, the boy shouted back to the pirate, "A-alright!" but the temporary look of worry didn't last long; the bold tenderfoot's expression was quickly replaced with a smirk. "You're rough and tumble, yeah, I got it!" He said through a sarcastic laugh as his colorful wings inched himself closer to the ground, until coal and rose colored hooves touched the wooden planks of the harbor once more.
Green eyes eagerly looking up at the red mare, "but I want to be like that too! I know a bit.. but you could teach me the rest!" Tegan's ears and head feathers perked with eager enthusiasm. "My name's Tegan.. What should I call you? Captain.. Captain-- captain, what?"

The mare smirked as the colt startled, propelling himself away from her and even hovering a few feet off the wooden planks of the docks. Tucking her knife back against her leg where it belonged, she turned to leave with a satisfied huff. Hopefully that was the last of the little rat she would see.
Her ears laid back as he called after her, a sarcastic teasing tone lacing his words. Growling under her breath, the clops of her hooves ceased as she came to a stop once more. Her fins flicked with agitation, her tentacles tense as they wrapped around her back legs. She refused to look at him, in fear that there would be actual bloodshed if she did. She really didnt have time for this.
"My name's Tegan.. What should I call you? Captain.. Captain-- captain, what?"
"Captain Fuck Off." The mare spat between gritted teeth. "If ye know whats good fer ya."
With that, she stomped off, sea battered hooves slamming into the harbor floor with each irritated step. She would have to remember to check the ship before heading out again; she didnt put it past the winged bastard to try to sneak on.

Tegan Talorian Tenderfoot
His jaw tensed at the pirate's response, and his ears were slowly creeping back farther and farther until they laid flat against his refined neck and poll. Tegan could feel the mare's lack of patience, and it was beginning to send shivers down his spine. He could continue to push, and push, if he so desired-- and while a part of him did, his inner voice was refraining him from doing so. The hippocampus had already threatened his life a handful of times, and the words were finally beginning to sink in.
As his small hooves clapped noiselessly against the dock's wooden boards, his childish figure sweltered under the aggression from the mare's tone, and this time, he didn't speak up when she headed forward and away from him.
"Alright." He muttered under his breath until his gaze fell, a slight disappointment began to hit the young boy, though it was quickly followed by a rush of excitement, as Tegan spun on his heal and bounded forward, back home, eager to tell his few friends of his morning adventure.
