Katarina
She ducked, avoiding a poorly thrown attack, her hooves kicking up dust. Flapping her wings, she spread the dust around, taking a leap into the air and counter attacking. Her sparring partner barely avoided it, panting and sweating. Kat was sweating too, darker patches in her already dark coat. The dust was sticking to both of they're bodies, a thin covering of red colored dust mixing with the sweat. It trailed down her side, almost like orange paint was splattered over her. Her opponent didn't show the dust as much since he was a sooty palomino color. Still, they were ignoring the heat and uncomfortable itching that the sweat brought, both engaged in the fight like it was an actual battle.
After a few more throws and parries, Kat finally landed a hit on the stallion, which ended the match. He stumbled at the force of the blow, throwing him out of the white marked ring. He whipped around, grinning. "Gosh darn it, Kat! You win again! 4 out of 5 matches! I'd hate to be the one who picked a fight with you!", he said, shaking his coat in an attempt to dislodge the dust clinging to him but to no avail. Kat smiled and laughed, following him over to the well that was situated in the courtyard. "Well, I'm always up for another match." She replied, taking a deep drink from the drawn water that rested near the well.
"Oh I'm good. Maybe another time!" He left, his guard shift had been earlier in the day. Kat was getting ready for her shift later in the night, so a little warm-up was nice. Sedo nights were colder than you'd think.

Khazada Despite her mother's constant instance for her young daughter to stay home at night, Khazada once more found herself wandering the streets, her hooves kicking up the loose sand that littered her path. But as her gaze averted from the familiar builds and towards the painted sky, the filly let out a quite, strained breath as maybe tonight would be different, maybe he'd finally come back. Such a thought often forced the filly to take the trek from the safety of the main city, back to that familiar hilltop that Khazada learned to first defend herself. Often her father insisted she learn all she could of the ways to fight for herself but how was she to learn when he was no longer there? It's not like her mother was much of a fighter anyhow... Khazada's attention however was snapped from her thoughts as the dun filly caught sight of the familiar white edges of a dusty ring her mother often told her where the Heavy Hooves of the herd would spar, and hone their skills. Most of the time Khazada didn't give such a sight much thought however as her gaze darted towards the flash of movement among the red sand that was being kicked up, Khazada froze as her focus locked on the pair. All her thoughts of hurrying to her vigil on the hill was soon pushed to the back of her thoughts as she watched the sparring come to a conclusion when the black pegasus land a hit on her sparring partner. Common sense told her to leave but hearing the small talk between the two before the palomino left, Khazada found her hooves moving towards the mare as she stood near the well. Khazada couldn't help but give the mare a look over as she had seen pegasus from afar, but never up close with such vibrant wings that seemed to match the same red hues the sky was casting overhead. However the filly finally found her voice just as her ears came forward. "That...that was amazing...I mean your fighting with that other horse." The teen quickly added before she gave a quite snort as she looked up at the friesian mare. There was comfort in knowing that being heavier in build wasn't such a bad thing, from what she saw this mare was still able to do. (Word Count: 395) Post 1

Katarina
As soon as Kat finished drinking, she turned to find a mare standing behind her. Her first instinct was to take a battle stance, but she quickly realized that it was just a civilian coming to talk to her. The mare was a golden dun color with a heavy build and bi-colored mane. Her face was marked with a blaze and had splashed white legs, with vibrant purple eyes meeting her own bright red ones. She only looked to be in her teens, though it was hard to tell with the large bush of a forelock over her face.
The mare spoke, though it seemed almost forced, like she was nervous. "That...that was amazing...I mean your fighting with that other horse." The words caught Kat off guard, though she quickly recovered. "Well, thank you." She said, feeling her face grow hot. Oh how I hate it when I blush when I get complimented, Kat thought, slapping a smile on her face. The mare was looking at Kat with a look of admiration, though Kat doubt that the mare realized it.
"What's your name?" Kat said, flicking her ears as a fly tried to land near her face.

Khazada Of course Khazada seemed to forget her manners as she should have introduced herself like her mother taught her. "Oh, I'm Khazada." She replied as with a almost eager bob of her head, throwing that thick forelock of her in her eyes before Khazada was forced to shake her head as to be able to still see the other mare before her. Not being able to help herself, Khazada shifted the weight in her hooves before she finally spoke again, trying not to be so nervous around a mare as clearly the black mare didn't seem threatening or such. "So what is your name?" It was only suiting to ask, or so Khazada hoped so as there were those rare horses that hated such a question themselves. "Your a heavy hoof, right?" The next question left the young mare's lips faster then she liked before she felt her own cheeks began to become hot as the answer was quite obvious, seeing as they were in the Heavy Hoof's Courtyard and it only made sense. "I mean, how did you learn to fight, I mean like back there?" At this, Khazada gave a gesture with her tail, towards the disturbed sand that the pegasus mare and the other stallion had been sparring just moments before. There was more then interest in her tone as in all her father's teaching, what she saw was new, something Khazada secretly wanted to know for herself as she aspired to be a fleet foot for the herd. Katarina
"Oh, I'm Khazada." The little mare replied, trying unsuccessfully to brush her forelock out of her face. She ended up shaking her whole head to move the hair out of her line of sight. She was silent for a moment, but it didn't last very long.
"So what's your name? Your a Heavy Hoof right? I mean, how did you learn to fight like that?" The teenager bombarded Kat with questions, all of them spit out in a matter of seconds. It almost seemed like she couldn't speak fast enough, her thoughts probably running a mile a minute.
Kat chuckled, grinning at Khazada. "Well, my name is Katarina, though if you prefer, you can call me Kat." She noticed that Khazada seemed awkward once she answered the next question, as in Kat's opinion it seemed quite obvious. "Yes, I'm a Heavy Hoof. I was just training with one of my colleges a few minutes ago. You probably saw that though. I learned to fight like that from my adopted father. He was an inspiration and I admire him greatly. I just hope I'll be able to be just as great as he is." Kat said, smiling at the mare. "Anything else you want to know?"

Khazada There were plenty of things Khazada wanted to ask but she decided against it just before her small idea sprang forward. It was quite a leap, Khazada was sure as honestly she was sure Kat, at the pegasus called herself, was far to busy to give Khazada much thought but if she never asked, how was she to know. Shuffling her hooves as to weigh the though in her mind before voicing it to the black mare, Khazada finally seemed to gather the the courage she needed. "Well...you think that...-" Another wave of shyness seemed to stop her words just as the dun's bi colored tail swishing back and forth to try and ease her discomfort. "I know your busy but...do you think that perhaps...you could show me how to fight. Well like you did?" As Khazada forced the question off her lips, her amethyst gaze looked up into the ruby gaze of Kat, rather hopefully. "My father taught me the basics though...-" Khazada's voice cut off as glimpses of her father flashed before her mind's eye only moments before she remembered her trip to the hill. That was the only reason she ventured out in the evening before the dun mare had witness the end of that sparring match that caught her attention. But even as the need now pushed at her thoughts, prodding her to leave and to go await her father's return, Khazada felt her hooves rotted in place as her focus remained on Kat.
