Of Off Days and Soothing Waters Corrine and Jala
JALA
"Boy, what do you mean your shoulders ache? You've been takin' care of yourself, haven'tchye?" His boss's words still pestered his mind. "I don't want any of my horses pulling muscles on the job! Go take care of yourself, consider this your day off! I expect you to start taking better care of yourself afterwards!" Somehow he felt like he was being punished rather than being given a sudden and rather gracious day off. He knew he should be thanking Tethis, but why was there this sinking feeling that being given an extra day off might come to bite Jala in the flank at some point?
Oh well. It just comes to show Jala was very poor at taking care of himself. Aside from washing his coat and mane on a regular basis, like he had been expected to do, the stallion was still getting his bearings living on his own and being more responsible for himself. Sure, he thought his diet was healthy enough, but sleep and rising early was a completely different story. Whenever he was finding the time to focus on recreational projects, he'd sooner or later find himself still awake long after midnight or finally collapsing on his bed at dawn.
It was clear he needed to practice restraint from a project if it meant gaining his sleep. Especially since Jala has lately been trying his hooves at pottery--another attempt to find something he might develop an eye for. The lack of sleep and the heavy loads which he pulled around Inaria were doing a number on his still growing body. His muscles and legs were still developing, and his bones were not as sturdy as they probably should be. Maybe his smaller, flightier mom's side is to blame for that.
All those facts aside, his achiness and Tethis' badgering was what brought young Jala out here today. The soreness from his collar, which had long been removed, still remained and tugged at his withers, and produced a rather uncomfortable pull in his neck. It was bearable, but its presence made him glad he wasn't wearing tack or let alone pulling a cart at this time.
"Hello?" Jala calls at last, bringing himself to a stop at the edge of the pools. "Uhh...excuse me, I was told to come here by my boss for some R' and R...may I speak with the owner of these pools...?"

CorrineHealing pools
Corrine was relaxed in her second healing pools springs, she had one just for hippocampus deep within the underwater caves, and then one to the public, one she seemed to really pride herself in. There was beauty in helping all kinds of equines and not all can venture to her other pools. So to have one here for easy access? Well it was a dream come true and a smart business plan for her. Well not really, this one ran on donations from others. There was the elderly and young ones and single moms that just couldnt afford this, so Corrine offered to do this for free, at least on this one. But today was a quiet day, and it seemed not many needed healing, and it was a good thing for Corrine, it meant things were well. Many were happy and unstressed, she gave thanks to that.
Ears flickered upwards as she heard a voice, someone calling out. A smile graced her lips as she dipped into the water, her body permanently in the hippocampus form. She spotted the figure at the pools and soon swam tot he surface, her head poking out from the edge of the pool of water. "Well hello! If you are looking for the owner, well here I am. What can I help you with?" she remarked. Trained eyes were already focused on the new equine that came to her. She eyed their form, noting everything she could. She tried her best to figure them out. Tried to see if there was anything noticeably wrong with them. Yet to her this young one seemed to e in good shape, a bit stiff in posture, but nothing to terrible. Which only made her smile all the more. "Im Corrine, owner of the healing pools and the Starfall Spring." she remarked dipping her head.
She wondered what sent him this way, or maybe it was for someone else. A part of her had hoped he would not ask her to help guide someone here. A part of her would have to decline and there was nothing worse to her heart then having to say that. Saying no to someone in need was shattering to her, and with her condition her crippledness. She was very limited in what she could do. It was why she had these springs made so close to town, so it was but a bit to walk here. Many could travel here and those that couldnt had many that would offer to help them here.

JALA
He stiffens a little, mostly out of politeness but also due to the aching tendons pulling at his withers. Gritting his teeth under closed lips--he hates that the pain had to be there of all places--Jala dips his head in greeting to the hippocampus that emerged from the waters. "H-hi," Jala's voice cracks slightly. "Pleasure to meet you, ma'am...I-I was told to come here by my boss. I explained to him that I've been feeling achiness in the withers lately. It's nothing of major concern, it's really quite bearable--but he urged me to visit the pools here to tend to them."
As he speaks, Jala holds his gaze more towards the edge of the pool rather than making eye contact--in respect, of course. He wasn't certain if the owner was of higher standing or not, but she was a hippocampus. For that reason, Jala feels more inclined to believe she was a rank above him.
"I'm a cart puller. My job is to deliver things around the city. Not a bad job but it does kinda' wear down the shoulders." He admits a little more quietly. "Hence the pain I've been feeling around the withers and neck. I think the collar's been puttin' a lot of strain on em." Jala clears his throat, ears rotating forwards and backwards almost indecisively. He almost felt a little embarrassed to ask for help, especially since he had been urged here rather than come by his own volition.
"If I may, is there an appointment of some sort or a visit that I may schedule--uhm, how often do you take customers?" He didn't know how she ran these pools, let alone how they worked. Growing up on a complacent farm, living a complacent lifestyle, and learning little outside the basics of streetsmarts, growing produce and selling it didn't really help Jala in his search to forge a path in life.

CorrineA Cleric of Healing Pools
So young, but he seemed to hold their manners well, she thought a bit to herself. Eyes looked to him watching how he seemed stiff in his movements, how his hard labor of course would do long term damage to his body especially if he kept neglecting it at this rate. A soft smile graced her lips as she looked tenderly to him. "No need to set an appointment, Im open until there is no more healing to be done. If you are ready to begin, come ahead and get into the water." she remarked nodding her head into the bath warm waters. As to how she kept these pools so warm, well it was a secret that made Corrine well known for her pools.
Corrine backed away a bit and nodded towards a small walkway that allowed and equine to walk right into the warm waters. This allowed the elderly and crippled who could not use stairs to enter easily. Corrine was all about bringing comfort and healing to all, there was nothing better then to be able to help all. "So.. you." she remarked offering a light smile as he never mentioned to say their name, but easily offered the basic information of their job. "So tell me what do you do beside your job? Do you do anything to care for yourself at all, or are you more of the on the go sort?" she asked curiously. Some may assume she was just offering small talk, but no she was curious on who they were. She needed to know what they did what could cause them further harm. Okay so maybe she too was a bit curious, but it was good to know about her clients. Especially if she hoped they would be return ones.
Corrine floated effortless in the water, cream locks bouncing along the side of her head she looked out towards him. "The water is warm, but we need to move down to a different area to help you a bit more." she explained. Her pools were made for each sort, sections here and there to aim to help a specific need. Many just try something that could help all, but Corrine wasn't a fan of that. She wanted to focus on each problem are and try her best to help aid each one.

JALA
"I uh, thank you, ma'am." Though hesitant at first, slowly he followed her nod to the walkway which led further to the bright pools, steady on his hooves and trying to keep his stiff withers from swaying too painfully. It was keeping his head low and unanimated, quite contrary to how he usually managed his gait when he was prancing leisurely through the streets or pulling along that hefty delivery cart.
"Well," Jala tapped his tongue to his lips in thought, head jostling slightly upward with some enthusiasm. "I uh, that's what I'm tryin' to figure out. I left home seeking an opportunity to work my way up, I guess. Though right now I don't even know where to begin..." Jala admitted as he strolled--as leisurely as he possibly could--down the walkway. "I've been trying pottery lately. Clay stuff. My mom has always told me to take the opportunity to try something new when you can. You gain more experiences that way."
He grunts though, hesitant to answer the more second and more specific question. It was hard for the truth to come spilling out of his mouth, especially since "taking care of himself" was practically becoming the moral of the day. "Well, I uh...no, I'm more of the on the go sort, I 'spose." He admits with the words coming fumblingly out of his mouth. "I work almost the entire week. And when I get home I try to devote myself to more recreational purposes. I dunno if I have bags under my eyes right now, but I kinda need to work on my sleep schedule."
Jala nods slightly, golden eyes fixated on the edge of the walkway. "Gotcha. I really, really appreciate this, ma'am. How much may I pay you?"

CorrineHealing Pools
Ears remained alert and perked forwards as she listened to him speak. "How old are you if you don't mind me asking?" she casually asked him. In all honesty, she was a bit worried for him. They way he overworked himself, it seemed he had a nasty issue with time. Not enough hours in the day to do what the child may like to do. It comes with a heavy burden to keep running like they are now. "Do you have an issue sleeping or simply refuse to sleep?" she asked with a coy smile on her face. Corrine moved forwards slowly so he could keep up in pace with her. Soon they approached a little branched off waters that bubbled and steamed. "Here is where we need to start off with. The hot waters and a nice massage will help relax your muscles while work out the knots." Corrine nodded.
Here in the bubbling warm waters there was seating within the waters. A way to lay down in the water without having ones head be in the water. The seating was made out of soft marble. It was polished and glistened, smooth and slick to the tough. "Here, go ahead and relax on a spot and we can begin. As for payment. I only accept donations. If you have coin to spare, it can greatly help someone who may not." she spoke gently. It was clear to see she ran on little to nothing, but worked her pools like no other. Though most of her money came from her other pools. A more of healing spa that fitted hippocampus. This was her second healing pools that was more open to the public that was free for all and ran strictly off of donations.
Pale blue eyes looked to him a bit offering a bit of a motherly smile. No offspring had ever left her loins, she always seemed to have a softness for the younger crowd. To see them so full of energy so willing to take on the world and make it their own. She was envious in a way as well, this world would never bend to her wills and desire, but instead she merely was able to make a small thing her own. A simple pleasure, but still... She had plenty of doubts and wonders in her heart.

JALA "Fifteen, ma'am." He spoke his answer in a softer voice, clearly hesistant to admit the small number of his age. Being young meant more time for a vast array of opportunities, but is also showed just how much of a novice he was compared to others. Especially when it came to his current craft--which was hardly a craft at all. He still wandered--and floundered--in his searches to discover something better than what he'd been doing now and before. If there was anything he was truly coming to understand, it was that making his way up the ranks was hard.
"Well, I uh," Jala felt sheepish when he was given that second question. He knew very well that he wasn't getting all the sleep that he should, and he partially blamed that, immaturely, on the work hours he was given. But the young stallion was also slowly becoming aware of his own self-induced insomnia. "A little bit of both I guess?" The quagga hybrid answers with a brief and embarrassed chuckle of his own.
A pause in his footing before he continues, bringing himself to the pool edge. Gradually he stretched out a soft coal hoof to test the water, letting it swirl and ripple. As he cautiously stepped in, the water seemed to embrace his body, up until it was only a few inches from the start of his withers. Its warmth swamped his submerged ruddy coat. As his tail comes to spread out against the watery plain, Jala pranced further into the pool, letting its weightlessness pull him along slowly.
A sigh of relief. With the weightlessness of the water came a temporary release from the laws of gravity. Though Jala was a common horse; without fins, feathers, or a horn atop his head, and truly descended from the children of Argus, it was the water that he believed was an attest to being a child of Cascade's. He felt welcomed here in its warmth, and did not mind the way it tangled through his dual-colored tail or lapped up against the stripes on his neck. Such instances only reminded him of younger days he sorely missed; of the few luxuries Jala's family could afford, they did have a bathtub and warm water. Back then bathing and cleansing was something Jala looked forward to after a long day's worth of helping in the fields. Now, all he had was a leaky shower head installed in his current living quarters, which sprayed water as cold as ice.
Thus, the pool was a very welcome change. He let it embrace him and wash away the impurities that he might have gained wandering the Inarian streets.
"I needed this," He exhales while resting his head on the pool edge.

CorrineHealing Pools
He was only 15 years old, yet he already had worn down his body so much. Corrine never understood how young ones, wanted to be adults so quickly. Sure there was privileges adults got that young ones did not. But surely this young one, should not being working as hard as this one was. Though it wasn't her place to mother the poor thing, though she couldn't help but feel the nagging sense to do so. As he spoke on, she grew curious more and more about him. Yet she drew out on of the bottle she had near her and poured it into the water, it smelled like fresh cut fruit. "Here is where the massage begins." she chuckled a bit as she took out this wooden roller and seemed to roll it gently against his back to allow him a chance to adjust to something new and foreign.
"Is there anything in Talori the perks your interest then? Im sure you don't want to be doing this your whole life hmm?" her voice calm like settling waters. Eyes eyed him a bit as she continued on with the massage. "Or maybe its best to ask, what do you like here in Talori? From entertainers to food. Is there something out there that calls to you?" Corrine was letting her curiosity peek a bit, but perhaps she could do more then just patch him up. Perhaps she could guide him a bit, to the next chapter in his life. Corrine had a knack for saving lives, but there was something that was alluring to changing lives, making them better then before. It was part of the reason she did this. Healed for free to change a life, make them better then when she first saw them. "When I was younger, I never dreamed I would be here. I thought Id be an ordinary cleric. But look when you take something common, and add your own spice to it. Sometimes you can make something quite extraordinary. Like your pottery, some nothing to something. You can create something wonderful for yourself or others." Corrine chuckled out to him. ` WC|| 358

JALA Talori Craftsman
The feeling of a roller going down his back startled him at first, evident by how his spine involuntarily jolted and
stiffened. Jala's withers would have tensed a bit before slowly, he tried to relax himself. It can be kind of hard to do so when you have so many things going on in your mind, including the thought of trying to ease up. Still, he kept his head planted at the edge of the pool, taking in the fresh aroma of fruit. Lucky for him the scent was not strong; Jala was rather sensitive to certain smells and a variety of different scents, no matter how relaxing, could create a potent and headache-inducing concoction when combined. He had faced that when delivering multiple perfumes to the same address. "Not all that much..." Jala admitted. "Mostly cause I don't really know what I'm good at, besides growing vegetables and tending
to fields. But that's normal, my entire family knows how to do that, they're all agriculturists. And I don't wanna do the same old thing." He adds calmly. "I like food, don't get me wrong, if I could learn how to cook I bet maybe I could get somewhere. And I like animals, but I would consider being around them more of a hobby than a possible job...I bet there's already enough veterinarians in the Talori..." By now the quagga hybrid's withers had eased, and were now almost entirely submerged beneath the warm waters of the pool. He
never thought warm water and the scent of fruit could get so much out of him. "I mean, you're right, I don't wanna be pulling carts all my life. Even though my boss is a pretty nice guy and he tells me that delivering things around the herd is one of the most important jobs to have...that's not for me. Who I am now, it won't be remembered in the future for pullin' carts..." Word Counter: 322Tagging: faunafawn

CorrineCleric of Healing Pools
A smile graced her lips as she listened to him speak. "I understand that one." she chuckled a bit. "We all want to be remembered in some sort of way, we don't want to be forgotten along the way. But maybe focus more on what you like and somehow when you follow that, you'll find a way to be remembered along the way." She mused gently to him. Corrine's tail wished gently in the water, creating light waves, allowing the sound of it to help ease many into a lullness. Brow arched a bit at him. "Hmm so you like animals, I think being a vet would be good to have, perhaps maybe more of a rehabilitation of the sort? You care for the wild life around us and once the critter if better you send them home?" she eyed him curious. Corrine had to admit, she had only met this child today, and she was growing quite fond of him. Perhaps she saw a bit of herself in him, a quality that was at least admirable. Unlike her other traits, Corrine could almost groan thinking about it.
Corrine whistled gently a signal, as an equine approached with a few bottles dropping it within reach for Corrine. "Thank Lydian." she remarked as the horse dipped their head, before trotting off to help others. Corrine looked at the young one and mixed a few bottles together, creating this lavender scent. It was light and calming, holding nothing to strong it would cause headaches and minor discomfort. If one could take a deep breath, they could almost taste the faint hint of sugared lemons. "Here you'll take this bottle home with you, once we are done here. You can either put a few drops when you shower, or a few drops on your pillow. It'll help relax you and perhaps allow you to calm that ever curious mind of yours and allow you some sleep. Sleep is good for you and perhaps getting a few good nights of sleep could do some great wonders." she chuckled a bit. "So where do you ache the most in that body of yours? Well focus on those areas." she offered him a kind motherly like smile. Corrine sighed, why did young ones captivate her so?

J A L A "It's time I found my place in life."
___________________________________________________________ "Mmn," Jala hummed to himself in thought, brows furrowing and golden eyes drifting onto the edge of the pool again. There was an overwhelming sense of confidence swelling inside him, as though he suddenly felt urged to confide his feelings without relent. The massage seemed therapeutic almost, and the stallion began to think aloud without relent.
"My dad always thought agriculture was the safe route," he admitted. "I guess I can get where he's coming from; I mean, it allowed my family to prosper as well as we have for generations now. But...because of that, there's so many of us that everyone just knows us by the family name, and the fact that we're farmers...nothing else."
"Individuality jus' fades into obscurity in my family. And I don't want that! It's why I'm out here in the first place--out here, pullin' carts, on my own, missing my family..." But he can't go back. He's not going back home until he had the guts to face his father again and prove to him that he can do so much more and still survive in the world. He didn't need some silly tradition to live in comfort! He wanted to stand out, and there was always going to be a struggle in standing out!
"I feel like it. Maybe. But I'm not a doctor," Jala finally responded. "I don't know half about how to take heal sick animals as much as I know how to identify them, My family raises countless ducks on our farm to eat locusts in the summer, it kinda comes with the whole farming business." He explains.
Jala sucked in a deep breath, savoring the smell of sugared lemons and sweet fruit that wafted off the waves, while he pondered her suggestions. "Though, I suppose I could learn...to help others with their familiars," the stallion said thoughtfully.
Jala took the vile of perfumes in his telekinetic embrace, and gently set it by his nose, careful not to put it within reach of the water. "Wow, I gotta tell ya, that's very kind of you," He admits. "Ma'am if there's ever any way I could repay you, I will gladly offer my assistance."

CorrineCleric of Healing Pools
Corrine couldn't help but smile all the more as he spoke, and she found herself nodding along. "Its indeed quite a challenge to break away from tradition. Even I couldn't do it, but instead I made it something for me. I come from a long line of Clerics and healers alike, must in my blood. Though sometimes it good to stand out, but other times it makes more eyes upon you. That isn't always an easy thing to handle." she mused to him gently as she continued on with her works. Allowing the sweet soft smells to relax him as she continued to work on his shoulder and back, knowing must of the tension and soreness had to be there from carrying such heavy loads.
Ears flickered as he spoke once more, talking about a doctor and knowing nothing and she couldn't help but chuckle. "Well we all start knowing absolutely nothing, yet we learn things all around, but you are still so young, so much life is there for you. I know you will find something that was made just for you, or you made just for yourself." she gave him a wink and chuckled. "You've got a bright mind, caring heart and good head on your shoulders, though you should learn to rest, You maybe young now, but all this wear and tear on your body will cause you problems later on in life." she teased him a bit affectionately like a mother would to a child.
A large smile grew on her lips as she watched him take the perfume with ease and talk about how kind it was of her and willing to do something for her in return. "Just promise me you will get some rest, and feel free to stop by again if you need to relax at all. My healing pools are always welcome to you." she spoke with honesty and sincerity. Giving him a nod letting him know it all to be true. Corrine honestly didnt need much in her life, she had her job, she healed the needed and got good company. Honestly it paid itself she thought amusingly to herself.
