Birds of a Feather Flock TogetherYear 1688 Season: Spring RP between Little Bird (RPed by BlueUnicornJ13 ) and Freya (RPed by @vestra )
Little Bird | Vagabond | Vindicator
It was a warm, pleasant day in Onea, and the sunlight peeked carefully through the pine needles of the evergreen forest, casting light on a young mare as she weaved through the trees. Her brown eyes scanned the forest around her, watching carefully for any signs of life. Living as a Vagabond had its perks. She could travel as she pleased (as long as her parents knew where she was and could follow her), and it gave her the opportunity to see the beauty of Hireath that so many didn’t get to experience, but it also brought about a few dilemmas. Most of the time meeting horses from other herds wasn’t exactly a pleasant experience, and her father had made it very clear that she was to stay away from them unless they needed the help of a Vindicator. Little Bird’s feathers ruffled slightly at the thought of the horrors she had seen and heard of in the Aodhian slave trade, and she certainly didn’t want to be one of the pegasi that had their wings clipped and were tied down to their masters. Little Bird stopped in a small clearing, taking a break from her long walk to the black market. She planned on going there to look at the various things that were for sale there, though most of the time it wasn't a very good place to be for young horses. She wasn't afraid though, having visited there many times with and without the company of her parents. Plus, Little Bird was pretty sure if anything bad were to happen, she could easily take off into the sky and forget about whatever dangers were there. As her mind returned to the present, a smile spread across her face at the sight of different colored flowers blooming in the sunlight that was provided by the opening in the trees. It was amazing to her to see such wondrous sights, though as a 16 year old, she was mostly interested in the adventure that different places provided, and of course, the chance to take a break from her father’s constant training and her need to make him proud. It was a harder task than she would have thought, but after years of her mother telling her that she would never be as great as they had wanted, it was hard to think differently despite her stubbornness. Letting out a sigh, she relaxed her wings, letting them hang gently at her sides while she picked a few of the flowers at her hooves. Word Count: 423

Freya|Vagabond|Vindicator
It was just another day for Freya as she traveled with her mother. Although content with her mother's company the young filly wanted to explore and run to see all the sights she could before having to return to her father's camp, "Mom can I explore today?.." She inquisitively asked. "We're safe here in the meadows, I know not to talk to anyone.. Please mother?" She begged. With a nod from her mother she ran chasing after the very wind itself, taking in all the breathtaking views of Hireath.
The beautiful animals which roamed the lands they also call home, but one particular animal interested the young filly. "Onea..Impala? No that's not it.. Apollo?...No... Apana!" She quietly conversed with herself, there was a herd some ways away from where she was.
A little while later after watching the Apana's play and graze she decided to move on and explore elsewhere. She disappeared into the surrounding forest and galloped freely navigating her way through the trees with ease one thing her father taught her well was how to navigate and how to survive. At this point it was about mid-day and the sun shone at it fullest, Freya had always loved the feeling of the warm sun on her back.. but then again, who doesn't? She made sure that she didn't wander too far to the point where her mother couldn't find her or where she couldn't find her own way back.
She came across a crossroad of trails with a direction pole with a compass, the smallest one was etched with 'black market' though she had no idea what it was as her parents never spoke of it before. The rest were all recognizable places, curiosity compelled the filly to go to the unknown place surely it couldn't be that dangerous if her parents never warned her about it. She then started on her way following the directions "I'll be back in time before dusk, for sure."

Little Bird | Vagabond | Vindicator
Little Bird's ears swiveled back and forth as she heard the quite noises of the forest. It was absolutely breathtaking in this little clearing that she had stumbled on. The flowers seemed to be illuminated by the sunlight, brightening their colors tenfold. The young mare sighed dreamily, and she felt her muscles relax slightly for what felt like the first time in months. That was the bad thing about being raised by two parents that had wanted a colt to raise as a Vindicator: they trained you as hard as a colt and expected you to be twice as strong. Little Bird groaned loudly in annoyance at the very thought of the training she had been through so far and how her muscles were normally so tired that she could hardly walk and her mother's constant disapproving look.
Her feathers ruffled as she set off toward the Black Market again. Her parents didn't know what she was capable of. Her mother thought was a weakling, but Little Bird knew that she could be just as strong and probably even more cunning than any stallion could be. "And I bet I can actually get to act like a mare every now and then too." She said with a snort, trotting onto the dirt path that led to the market. Her brown eyes focused on the sign that pointed in the right direction for a moment before she set her hooves down the path through the pine forest.
Not too long after she set off down the path did she catch the scent of someone nearby. The pegasus's head snapped up in attention and turned several different ways before she eventually spotted the source of the smell. A small dark horse was making their way down the path ahead of her, and the wind carried the stranger's scent in her direction. Little Bird's eyebrows narrowed in confusion as she studied the horse in front of her. Was it a filly? The roan mare walked a little quicker, the soft dirt of the path helping mask the sound of her hooves. When she was several paces away, she slowed down once more, not wanting to startle the younger horse too badly. "Hello there. Are you lost?" Little Bird asked in a soft, helpful tone, one that her parents had taught her to use when she thought that someone might need the help of a Vindicator.

Freya|Vagabond|Vindicator
Occasionally keeping track of the setting sun she kept a watchful eye around her surroundings for anything unusual, but other than the harmonious bird song it was quiet and calm. The sparse clouds reflecting the bright glittering sun were like a stretched weft of cotton, It was beautiful and serene against the crystal blue sky "I wonder if mother is worried or if she is enjoying this peaceful weather". She started to hum a song her and her mother sung together around the fire at night to ward off the evil, or so her mom said that's what it did.
The path on which she was travelling after walking on the War Lords Road was not used often and could tell as the dirt was settled and undisturbed "This path, It's not often used.. I wonder why" she said softly to herself. Before too long she heard hoofbeats behind her and started to worry but kept composure as her parents had taught her since she was younger "It might even be mother, The hoofbeats aren't heavy so it mustn't be someone too large" she thought, Soon the mare gradually made her way beside her and gently spoke. The pegasi mare was young and had a beautiful red roan coat, Feeling slightly more comfortable by the mare's comforting tone of voice Freya responded back to her, " No, Not really, I'm just out exploring the land before the sun sets! Are you headed to the Black Market too miss? "

Little Bird | Vagabond | Vindicator
Little Bird stared down at the smaller filly that she had stumbled upon. She had an interesting, beautiful dark coat with lighter markings on her back and legs, and when she looked up at her, she noticed her two different colored eyes. It was rare that she ran across anyone during her travels unless she was seeking them out. The roads that Vagabonds traveled were often rough or out of the way for most common folk, leaving them unruly or simply harder to travel down than other easier choices. It didn't help that some of the different herds were less than friendly toward unwelcome visitors to their land.
Her ears perked up when the young mare spoke, listening intently to whether or not she needed help finding her way or not. 'Surely someone didn't let their daughter just wander down this road by themselves... granted, I suppose that that's exactly what I'm doing, but I'm quite older than this filly I think.' Little Bird thought to herself. Her brown eyes flashed with recognition when the stranger mentioned the Black Market, and she nodded her head, causing some of her red curls to fall into her face. "I am going to the Black Market. I've got some shopping that I'd like to do there." Little Bird explained, glancing up the road they were traveling on. It wouldn't be long before they were at the market now. "Are you meeting someone there? Your parents or someone else in your family?" She asked curiously, quirking a brow down at her.

Freya|Vagabond|Vindicator
Freya smiled at her while listening and paying close attention to her actions and facial expressions, "No actually, I've been wandering and came across the directional post and saw the Black Market. It sounded interesting and my parents have never spoken about it, I tend to have a strong curiosity and an inquisitive mind so I decided to go and check it out." She responded back, The mare seemed rather nervous about her being alone in association of the approaching market. Freya was taught the history of each land and herd of Hireath along with the types of horses who had occupied each herd. She had learned and seen that Onea was one of the roughest terrains in Hireath but her father sometimes worked with the Raiders and Valkyries so this wasn't the first time she had visited this land. "I wonder.. She's acting so helpful, She must be a Vindicator like father and I" Freya thought to herself, " My name is Freya by the way, What is yours? "

Little Bird | Vagabond | Vindicator
Little Bird nodded her head at the other mare's words, wondering if the Black Market was the place for someone as young as she was. Her parents had warned her that some questionable transactions could be found there along with some shady characters to look for, and from the sound of it, it didn't really sound like the place someone so young should be visiting by themselves. Her mind whirled for a second as she tried to decide whether to offer some sort of assistance or simply tell her that this marker wasn't exactly for a young audience. She always had such a hard time making decisions like this. There were so many options and things that she could say, but the Vindicator mare took a deep breath as she set her mind on a single thought. "Well, since you're not meeting anyone and I'm not meeting anyone there either, how about we look around together maybe?" Little Bird offered with a friendly smile. At least then, she would be able to make sure nothing happened to the younger mare. "Freya," she repeated to herself with a grin before continuing. "My name is Little Bird, but everyone I meet normally just ends up calling me Bird. Are you from around these parts, Freya?" Little Bird asked curiously.

Freya|Vagabond|Vindicator
Freya smiled back at the mare and got pleasantly excited to be with her "I would love to! If you'd be okay with it I'd like to know all about it" She was so curious about the market and her lust for learning of unknown places was strong. "Little bird, That's pretty and well it certainly fits since you're a pegasi" She smiled and soon Freya felt as if she found her a new friend "I think I'll just call you Bird as well, Or if it would be okay with you, Birdie" Freya kept walking at a steady pace so that there would be some more time for her and Little Bird to talk and get to know each other before getting to the market. "Well not really, My father is a Vindicator for our herd and he's currently working with the Valkyries so we're in Onea for now." She explained, "I've been training with him when he gets a free day, I want to be a protector just like him! Any other day I'm usually with my mom, like today.. Well earlier today at least" She smiled that innocent smile of one who hasn't seen any sorrow or trouble, "You kinda give me a vagabond vibe, Where are you from?"

Little Bird | Vagabond | Vindicator
Little Bird gave her a friendly smile as she accepted her offer to go to the market with her. Her ears perked up at the younger mare's questions of the market, and she frowned slightly in thought. How did one explain the Black Market without making it sound completely horrible? "Well, the Black Market is where lots of Vagabonds go to shop, especially since we're not allowed into the markets of Aodh. They've got just about everything you can imagine there: food, jewelry, familiars. Of course, there are some... questionable businesses there that are run by horses who aren't exactly very trustworthy, but I'll make sure that we don't go near those vendors." She assured Freya, nodding her head confidently. The roan mare grinned at the dark mare's compliment. "Thank you. You can call me Bird or Birdie. Either of them would be fine with me." Her brows rose in surprise when Freya said that her father was a Vindicator. It wasn't every day that she met someone else in her profession, or at least was training to be one. "Oh really? That's really cool. I'm a Vindicator too. My mother and father are both Vindicators, and I've been training under my father basically since I was born." Little Bird explained with a little chuckle at the thought of her vigorous training and the fact that her parents hadn't even wanted a filly. They had wanted a strong colt to raise into one of the best Vindicators out there, but she had made it a goal of hers to prove them wrong. She'd train and be what they wanted her to be even if they didn't believe she could do it.
