There is little time to think, let alone panic as the dragons soar overhead. You watch in horror as two land atop a house, their small bodies instantly igniting another inferno that spreads across the roof and over the doors. It is only then that you realize there are horses trapped inside, screams and cries reaching your ears as the fire eats away at the structure's foundation. Now is not the time to fear the flames as you must rescue those trapped within.

Moonrise|Adoh|Artisan-Blacksmith
Moonrise laughed at Evalynn's comment. "No I don't think they would." She flicked her tail as she listened to the kings introduction speech. Afterwards she looked over at Eva. "I'm going to go look around, meet back here later before heading to our accommodations yeah?" she said, waving her tail in parting before heading off.
She trotted among the festivities, purchasing a few treats here and there that looked particularly interesting, looking over some paper lanterns, buying a string or two for Asahla's shop, before making an arrangement for the shop keep to hold onto them her until later in the day so they wouldn't be damaged. Over at a gem stall she placed an order of gems for her bridle making friend as well, since the gems found here differed from what was found in Ethine. As she wandered about happily examining everything she heard a few words from someone nearby.
"There's this mare in goggles...may be one of their inventors...love to talk..."
The mare stopped, turning her head towards where she thought the voices were coming from. A little ways away she saw a dark brown Pegasus speaking to.... nothing? Craning her head she saw a tuft of brown mane, ah, must be a pony. She made eye contact with the stallion in goggles and waved her tail in greeting. She wasn't entirely sure if the horse was talking about her, but considering she didn't recognize him from the rest of her delegation and she didn't remember any mare from Adoh wearing goggles to this event she felt that in this instance it was safe to make assumptions.
She was about to head over and see the two when the official speech began. Eyes attentive she watched as her king addressed the cave dwelling herd. As his voice announced the gift Moon looked over as the train of mares with their dragons were led in, each dragon seemingly more impressive than the next. Someday... Someday I'll own one of those magnificent beasts. She thought fondly to herself, thinking of how much help it would be around the forge back home. The pause that followed the end of Amadeus's speech filled her with unease, was the high king going to accept this gift? She held her breath, only letting it out slowly as the king started speaking again. The moment of tension was past, the treaty was about to be signed-
BOOM
Oh sweet lord Ignacio not again.
As the explosion rocked the earth and the dragons broke free, calamity swept over the denizens. Memories of three months before swept into her mind, and the explosion that shattered the coliseum. Which cascaded into a series of events that led her to be blessed by Ignacio himself. She shook her head to clear her mind of the memories and bring her back into the moment. Looking up, she watched as two dragons had landed on a nearby building and set it alight, flying off again to go who knows where. It was then she heard the screams of horses trapped inside the same building.
Snapped into action, she saw five other horses still in the area. Determination blazed in her eyes as she galloped towards the burning building.
"There are horses trapped inside! Quickly they don't have long!" She shouted, taking one big gulp of fresh air as she covered her mouth in her scarf and pushed the goggles back over her eyes, then she leaped through the building's flaming portal.
She could hear the foundation crack and start to splinter as she landed. Hooves tempered by the time spent at her forge she didn't notice the until it began scorching her coat. With one look to see if any followed her inside she began to carefully traverse the building.
She could only pray they weren't too late.

KANU | NOBLE LORD
It was good, having Shiya here with him. There was less to panic about, she was like his safety blanket, always there, her fur brushing his reassuringly. He allowed himself some freedom to look around at the interesting oddities, so different, so rare compared to what he was used to back home. A small smile cracked on his lips as he sniffed and touched all the fine looking specimens. He greeted with some of the Aodhians, as he basically knew them all on a first name basis, and then he also took time to meet some Breimians, keeping an eye out for any that may have known and had a problem with him when he arrived here long ago.
So far everything was going smoothly. Despite being in a rather crowded place with horses everywhere, loud noises and... foals running around, he had managed to keep his cool so far, and there were no signs of an explosive episode which was relieving, though he was always on edge, just waiting for that moment where he snapped and made a scene. It happened too often these days, and that made it hard for him to properly and genuinely enjoy himself.
Unfortunately, just as he was about to open up like he had done many times before in the presence of a party, a loud boom resounded though the tunnels, racking his very bones, shaking him to the floor. He blacked out for a moment, but was quickly on his hooves again, eyes darting around, struggling to see behind the blinding flames and the immense heat radiating off them. He could hear shrill screeches, screams. His eyes were wide with fear, flashes of the attack on the Crucible corrupting his mind. He stopped himself however, when he realized that this was not the cause of Vagabonds, but dragons. Aodh's dragons. He did not fear fire, but he did fear for the safety of others he cared about. Shiya, being one, who was no longer at his side. He called her name, screamed it, but he could not be heard above the echoing chaos.
He turned his head, noticing the only active horse nearby as they ran toward a house, freshly ignited by two of the scaled beasts. 'There are horses trapped inside! Quickly they don't have long!'. Kanu struggled to see, smoke creeping in with it's deathly silence. He took a deep breath before launching off his back hooves toward the home. This was the most exercise he'd done in a long time, and it showed too, with his heaving puffs and his beer belly. He still pushed, hooves kicking up rocks furiously. He was determined, determined to do some good for once.
Once he met with the mare, who he now recognized as Moonrise, he frantically searched for a way in. Quickly, the skeletal structure of the house was crumbling, breaking and sending sparks furiously through the air. He regained his composure and without any more analyzing, jumped into the house. There was a window, now rid of it's glass and frame, with the least amount of flames he could spot. Thankfully the smoke in the home was not thick enough to instantly fatigue him, and he didn't waste time as he searched where he could; in places that weren't blocked or destroyed by burning wood and embers. "Hello! Where are you!" He called out. This house was strange, and he didn't know exactly how to navigate around it, so he would have to rely on their voices to find them. If he could even physically get to them.

Nefertiti | Echo | Breim Relaxing slightly with reassuring words from the lady before her, Nefertiti was about to speak again when the small King of Aodh began to speak. Being respectful of course, she stopped to listen. His voice did not quite project as well as King Hajimes, but it still did the job. As he was about to continue his speech, a rumbling shook the ground beneath their hooves.
Before she could ask the Lady and her entourage in front of her if they felt it too, an explosion ripped through the air and rattled her bones. Nefertiti shot up into the air, springing up with all fours before, returning to a rear, flailing as she blindly sought even the smallest thing to show her vision was returning. Ears Ringing, sight black, she let out a shrill scream of fear. Her feet found the floor again, her eyes had started to fix themselves. Though it was not a sight she had wanted to see. The panicked screams of the once joyous crowd rose in the cavern as fire now erupted out of and over buildings, dragons now loose and adding their own calls of fear and roaring flames into the chaos. Darting with the rush of horses as they fled the scene, Nefertiti came to a halt as voices called for aid. The building that lay before her engulfed in flames, the billowing heat washing over her as she moved closer to it. Watching others dart in after the calling voices, she stood almost aghast, trying to still take in what was happening to her. But there was no time to think. As another shoved past her to enter the building, her body seemed to feel more powerful than it ever had before, adrenaline now flowing faster in her veins. She had to help! Any horse with a strong frame wouldn’t be able to get to an upper level so she knew if they had to climb, they would need her. Her feet launched her forward into the deathly heat, the crackling and rushing of the flames filling her ears as she looked around the burning walls. “I’m here to help! Where are you?!” Her voice called, desperate to make themselves heard over the fire. With a sharp yell, she jumped out of the way as debris crashed down to the ground before her, sparks and ashes flying up and adding to the thick smoke. With a hard cough, Nefertiti snorted the embers out of her nose, hissing in pain. How could she find anyone here? She couldn’t see through the smoke or hear over the consuming flames. {435 Words}

Zahara|Breim Servant
Listening to the words of the pale king Zahara's pour sited eyes followed the movements of wings creatures. She was in aw at them even if she couldn't see them clearly. Ears twitching a sudden startling panic ranked her body as the loud frighting boom shook her. Having never heard such a sound before her body froze in place with eyes wide in shock. As flames light up one of the houses screams filled her ears pulling her mind from the shock and panic that had gripped her. Her body sprang into action at the words of the dark mare. She took a deep breath of clean air before plunging into the smoke and fire filled house. Ears listening all around her as her eyes searched the blurry shapes. "Hello? Please make a sound. Any sound!" She called out to the trapped horses. She didn't know what all she could do being her pour site made it impossible to make out anything but her sharp earring could truly be of help now. Even if it was just to tell the others where they were.

Lidian | Echo Word Count: 473 Post: 2
Lidian continued to stay attentive to the royals’ words, despite the whooping crowd. She watched as the string of horses elegantly walked out with scaled beast clutched to their withers, each one more magnificent than the last.
“More?” Lidian thought. “What are they?”
Fiacha, the cream colored raven perched upon Lidian’s back, became as restless as the dragons. The mule twitched an ear back to give some attention to her fidgeting familiar, followed by her own head when he wouldn’t settle.
“Please, Fiacha. I’m-”
BOOM
Eyes widened, hearts dropped and legs became unstable. Lidian whipped her head back around, only to be greeted by mass chaos. Equines everywhere, scrambling and screaming. Trying to regain her senses, she began to cough with the arising dust and smoke. Her ears became flesh against her neck with the sounds of ringing.
Panic.
PANIC.
The stout mare turned from where she facing, continuing to cough, she grew heavy with anxiety and sheer, panic. Others ran past, bumping, shoving, and certainly not helping the situation. Having nestled into the satin hood of the adorned cloak, Fiacha chattered softly. Lidian found herself pressed against the stone wall, dragons screeching over head. She zoned in on the raven’s helpful noise, her senses and motor skills where coming back to her.
With the demi-mare coming to herself, she lifted her head to find an escape. A black mare wrapped in a scarf and goggles resting on her head bolted past, eager to get somewhere. Was this it? Was this her escape? Trying to pay no mind to what was actually going on around her, Lidian picked up a hasty gallop and followed.
“There are horses trapped inside! Quickly they dont have long!” The unknown mare called.
Huh? Ears perked and the pathetic excuse for an Echo finally took in her surroundings. Smoke bloomed from the fire that engulfed the Breimian home. Two dragons sat atop it enraged and terrified. Lidian came to a sliding halt, almost crashing into three others who were nearby. Her blue and green eyes grew wide at the scene. Her ears filled with the screams of the trapped family.
PANIC.
“Help, you dingus. What’re doing?” Ran through her mind as her long ears dropped once more. She was frozen in her tracks. Her hooves refused to move. She wanted to run so badly but she couldn’t. She was here. She needed to help. But, she was trapped in herself. She watched as the other brave souls bounded into the bulding to help the family.
The molly managed to shake herself out of most of the panic, as her bird pecked lightly at her head and crest. “GO!” Her mind said. “NO!” Replied her feet. She couldn’t manage any movement.
“I’m here to help!” She finally shouted. “Fiacha and I will help guide you to safety!” She continued.

KANU | NOBLE LORD
Finally, he heard it. A cry. It was quiet, smothered by smoke and the violent bellow of flames, but it was there. He flicked his ear toward it, so he could hear it better. They sounded young, alone and afraid. He hadn't time to properly analyse, but he guessed it was a young horse who'd been separated from the others. He needed to find a way to get to them. His eyes furiously darted from corner to corner. All he could see was fire. Bright, dangerous, swallowing everything in it's path. He moved toward the staircase that led to the second floor. There was a chance he'd missed someone on the first floor, but he heard others enter the flaming building and knew they would be able to scour there while he pinpointed the small child who was crying for his mother, father and probably their life. Kanu approached the stairs, trying to shield his face from the spitting heat. He squinted, facing the fire so he could try and find a way up. Finally, he spotted a way up; some of the stairs were merely embers, which was better in Kanu's eyes than flames.
With a deep breath, he launched off his hind legs, aiming to land on the few stairs that weren't doused in flames. His front legs made it, but his back legs slipped and were momentarily taken by the fire. He let out a hiss of pain, eyes clenched shut. He shook his head, and pushed on. It took longer than he would have liked, but eventually he made it to the stop of the staircase. His back legs stung, but he hadn't time to focus on the pain. He moved on, "Keep talking! My name is Kanu, keep yelling so I can find you!" He cried, and the young one delivered, calling out his name, though their voice was growing weak, and Kanu worried that he would not reach them in time. Suddenly, another voice sounded, again, calling Kanu's name. His head turned, now even more panicked.
Kanu decided to disregard the fire, completely ignoring it was there so he could instead focus on those who needed his help. He rushed to the first voice he'd heard, and in one of the rooms, he found them. A young boy, tears streaming down his face, soot encasing his small body. He was lying with another his age, possibly a twin, though he was the only one in the room who was conscious. There were two wooden beams blocking their way out, but Kanu was running on adrenaline now, and it took mere seconds for him to push them out of the way with his horn. He scooped the unconscious foal up and on to his back, and had the other cling to his neck. He left the room, breath growing heavier. He was to be fast, but he couldn't be reckless with his movements. He was cautious as he maneuvered back down the stairs, and relief washed over him as he placed the two heaving children at the feet of those still outside of the house. "Look after them, one is unconscious. I have to go back in." He said, letting out a harsh cough before turning and entering the house again.

Regina
"Well this certainly makes things more exciting." Regina mused out loud after the ringing in her ears died down, "Seems like everywhere I go things just blow up these days."
"Now is not the time for joking, Regina! We have to get out of here! It's a death trap now with this fire!" Jana yelled over the chaos, both of them being buffered by bodies rushing by on all sides, though her smaller master more so than her self. Regina pressed herself against the smaller mare's side with a nod and a silent promise to get her out safely.
Using her somewhat taller stature to her advantage, Regina managed to locate a tunnel somewhat close to their current location, and began ushering her master in it's direction, eager to get her to safety --then they could both finally head home and laugh over this whole damn thing with Dhaval.
"Jana, what are you doing, we have to keep moving!" She shouted in order to be heard when her master stopped short, her gaze following the other's up to the roof of a building not even a horse's length from them. The structure alight from the breath of some of the flying scaled rats most called dragons, and her emerald eyes narrowed as she realized what her master was thinking.
"There are horses in there Regina." She stated, Regina's ears pinning,
"You can't be serious Jana, we have to get out of here and there are already others helping-"
"You will obey me. We have to help." Regina bit her tongue at her master's order, but she sighed and nodded nonetheless,
"Fine. But you stay here." She stated, not waiting for a reply before she ran into the burning building, leaping deftly over the flames. The heat inside the building was enough to smother her alone, let alone the smoke that attacked her lungs, causing her to cough and hack as she pushed her body to keep moving to climb the stairs, search the other levels. She ran past someone in a hallway, but figured them to be helping as well and paid them no mind as she headed around a corner, kicking down a door with practiced ease. The room was obviously a bedroom, a child's bedroom to be precise, and there the children lay --passed out from the smoke no doubt. She rushed forward, effortlessly draping one over her back, but she could not fit the other and making two trips would be far too long.
"There are two kids in here! Someone's gotta grab the other!" She called out into the hall, hoping that at least one of the other equines who decided to be heroes today would hear her.

The sounds of heavy hooves moving past her in the blaze, caused her to turn to find the source. It was a large stallion with a great blue horn that reflected the flames in a lethal beauty, she did not know him, but was both inspired and relieved as he moved two foals out of the blaze. A moment of appreciation was almost too long, as the fire licked at her hocks. Taking off up the stairs, she charged swiftly through the fire that dared to impede her way. Only a rush of heat greeted her as the smell of her hair burning added to the smoke. Reaching the top the mare entered a long hallway, illuminated by the flames, the roar even louder here than downstairs.
“Where are you?!” She yelled, moving down the hallway, jumping as a door crashed down, revealing a scared filly clung to an older mare. Summoning her courage she shoved the fallen door out of the way, wincing as it burned her skin. “Hurry up! Get out of here!” Her voice was a harsh order, but it did the trick. The mare and filly bolted out past her as she held the door for them, the fire crackling in her ears. With a loud clatter, she let the door fall as she moved to the next door in the hallway, coughing hard from the smoke. A mare ran past her in the smoke, another foal beside her from within the room. Rearing up to kick the door the rest of the way in, she yelled out a roar as if it would help her kick harder, her hooves throwing it to the ground. A colt laid on the floor, wheezing and coughing, his throat dry from the hot air. He couldn’t’ve been more than a few months old, and Nefertiti did not hesitate to move through the fire that crawled towards his weak form. Using her telekinesis as best she could, she lifted him up onto her back, her knees burning on the hot floor. A hiss left her lips, but once the colt was secure on her back she took back off into the house.
Coughing harder, she moved back into the hall, a loud groaning as a support beam started to give. It could be below or above her, and that was a terrifying thought. Both would be fatal. Her hooves clicked on the wooden floor as she raced to the stairwell, and just before she reached it, her back legs fell further than they should. The floorboards had collapsed under her weight, and she clung all of her weight to stay up on the top floor. Her telekinesis kicking back in to hold the colt to her back.
The adrenaline surge that washed over her as the flames below snapped angrily at her feet. Using all of her strength, she kicked her fallen legs up, desperate to get them to connect with a solid support, all while pulling herself forward. She had to keep moving.
A rush of relief filled her as she found her footing again, quickly getting back up to her feet, she took back off down the stairs, leaping through the flames as gently as she could to keep the foal safe. Moving through the gaping hole of the front door to the clear air, she was greeted by the horses both covered in ash, and those there to help.
A sigh of relief and a quick trot led her to the group of the others, lowering herself to help the foal off her back to the cool floor. “We all need water. Both for our throats and for the fire.” She spoke to the others there to help before coughing hard.

Zahara|Breim Servant
Cracking of flames and the groaning of the building drew her ears distracting her as the sounds of the other horse's hooves and yelling swirled around her. Zahara dancing from hoof to hoof looking around. She couldn't tell where everything was but then even as the horses around her moved from different rooms pulling horses out of the building she finally heard something below the other sounds. Forcing on the sound she could tell it was an adult horse and one who was having a hard time breathing. Coughing as she inhaled smoke into her lungs she shook herself and rushed forward. Listening closely to track down the room in which it was coming from. Just as she rounded a corner Zahara's ears flattened as she heard the crack of the ceiling whipping her head up she bolted forward as the ceiling caved in on her fall in the place she been standing just moments ago. Panting as wheezing and coughs stopped her from moved for a moment. Once she got it under control she hurried down the hall to find an older horse laying wide eyed and scared on the ground. "Are you injured anywhere?" She quickly asked coughing some more now. Getting no reply but coughing and wheezing from the horse. Going over to them she pushed smaller body up against the larger horse trying to move them. She wasn't strong enough for the older horses didn't even move. Worry and a bit of panic rushed over her body as she tried to move or even just get the horse to stand but it was no use. The older horse didn't have the strength and she was too small to move him on her own. Looking everywhere she tired to find some way to move him but she could find nothing. The flames add eaten away with anything that could have been any use to her. Clinching her jaw she closed her eyes for a moment. She had no choice it was a matter of life and death here she could not hesitant now. Coughing more she tried to draw in enough air to call out. "HElP! I found one of the horses but I can't move him." She called hoping one of the other horse inside would hear her over the roars of the flames. Post| 3 words | 391

Moonrise|Adoh|Artisan-Blacksmith
Moon watched as horses rushed in after her, their intention to help like she was. Soon she could see horses moving in and out through the heat, good, hopefully they could all get out of this unharmed. The others were fast, and soon all the foals were out of the building (not that she knew that). The coal colored mare leaped across broken timber and collapsed stone, weaving through the treacherous terrain of the burning building. Coughing as she felt the metal of her goggles send auras of heat against her face she followed the sound of the cries for help. She could hear the foundations of the house beginning to give, the building wouldn't last much longer and she hoped that they would be able to get everyone out in time.
Up and over another pile of burning beams found Moonrise in a room with two older horses, possibly the owners of the house, protecting each other from the burning wood around them with their bodies. "Follow me I'll lead you both out!" she shouted to the cowering couple. After only a moments hesitation they both shakily rose to their hooves and followed Moonrise closely as she led them down the precarious stairs and through the multiple rooms towards the door. At the front entrance she stopped, pushing the two adults through the door as a wooden beam crashed down nearby causing the flames to leap and sear across her flank. With a pained grunt she looked through the doorway, seeing the two adults hobble over to the other horses outside of the burning building. One of the foals immediately wandered over to them and nuzzled against the adult's leg.
With that Moonrise turned and headed back into the building, hearing one of her fellow rescuers cry for water. "Hindsight is 20/20 but you're right, we need water." she shouted.

KANU | NOBLE LORD
He was in the depths of hell again. A small house, yet so destructive and threatening. Threatening to take lives, destroy lives. This family would have never expected this, they would have never planned on their world being turned upside down so violently and abruptly. All their belongings were gone, their memories destroyed. There was still a chance they would not be a whole family anymore after this event. 'Though I'm not going to let that happen.' Kanu thought harshly, diving, now with more confidence in where he was going- but less confidence in his physical ability- into the flames, navigating through the house to where a mare was yelling for help. He reached her, finding that she was not the one who needed saving. There was an older stallion on the floor, on the brink of consciousness. He approached her, and analysed the man beneath his feet. He guessed he was at least three hands smaller than him, and probably more frail, too, so he hoped it wouldn't be that difficult to haul him onto his back.
Unfortunately, Kanu's own physical limitations only made things harder, and despite the man being smaller, he still felt like a Clydesdale as Kanu attempted to lift him from where he lay. He grunted, muscles working as hard as they could, breaths growing labored and uneven. He could feel Zahara helping, but it was doing no use. Kanu was merely picking him up and dropping him again, and he didn't want to hurt him more than he probably already was. Finally, eventually, the elder man came to somewhat, and upon kanu's recommendations, used his legs to stand against Kanu's side. Though just as Kanu was about to head toward the stairs, toward safety, Kanu's legs gave way and he headed toward the heated floor. As he fell, he flung the survivor to Zahara, hoping she'd be able to catch him.
He landed with a vile thud, groaning. Why did he not have the strength to get up? He looked around, eyes growing blurry, lungs filling with smoke. Every inch of him felt weak as he furiously tried to stand back up in vain. He was coughing violently, heaving, rasping for clean air, but it did not come. He was only welcomed with more smoke, thick and deathly, circling around his body like vultures, seeping into his mouth and nostrils. His eyes stung, and so he shut them, coiling his head into his chest. "Get that man... to safety." He said, voice growing incredibly quiet and weak, trailing off into a gruesome coughing fit. His world turned black, and though he could still hear, he dared not speak or even breath too much in fear of more smoke taking over his insides. He simply lay there, shivering.
Suddenly, he heard a whimper. He opened one eye hesitantly, and using all the will power he had he kept it open, scanning the area. "H-hello?" He whispered, and from the shadows ran a small dog. It didn't look that affected, which told Kanu it may have been hiding somewhere that hadn't been touched by the flames yet. However possible that was. It cowered straight to Kanu's side, and curled up between his front legs. Kanu shook his head, "No... it's too d-dangerous." He sulked, trying to call out for someone to quickly come and help. His voice was useless however, and he could only hope that the mare he'd met with before told the others of his situation. Now, feeling hopeless, he curled his head around the small animal, acting as a shield from each angle so it could survive this.

Nefertiti | Echo | Breim Hearing a rescuer respond to her comment, she turned as she watched the dark horse run back into the building. The tall unicorn stallion had gone back in by time she had come out and she stood a moment, wondering how long he had been back in the building and not shown himself. Looking to the survivors, she did a mental survey of the conscious and unconscious. The sounds of the dragons frantically still looking for safety overhead was a small noise in the hum of the roaring flames in the city and the screams of the panicked. By now most would be in the tunnels or doing what they were doing roughly. Hopefully someone would get the dragons under control.
Looking back at the burning house she gasps softly, hearing some more of the upper floor crashing. Alright, she had enough clean air for now, she thought. Her feet kicked off and she charged back into the pits of hell. The fire roared around her, louder than it was before, it seamed. Sounds of things tearing and falling apart coupled with the bellowing of the flames. Heat washed back over her like an ocean wave. Her feet moved quickly over the embers of the now burning floor, looking around frantically for someone, anyone. Head snapping around, ears alert, eyes wide in search through the flames. Was that a voice? And then she was it. The glint of the blue horn of the large unicorn. He was down, and Nefertiti couldn’t help to lift him in her dreams, but it did not stop her.
Taking off and lunging over debris, she came to land beside the fallen stallion, and now scared dog companion.
“We have to go!” She yelled at him over the roaring fire, her silvery mane and tail wisping through the air from the heat, ash and embers flying up around her as the wall behind her began to crumble. Looking around desperately for help, before she realized it may not be coming.
“Come on! I’ll help as best I can!” She yelled to him before stepping over him quickly, to kneel beside him, pushing her weight and strength into him to help him stand once more. The smoke was getting thick now, and the flames did little to shine through it. They had to go. They had to. Huffing and coughing with strain she tried her best to get him up quickly.

Lidian | Echo Word Count: 599 Post: 3
Lidian watched as the braver horses bolted to and from the burning building. Each one carrying out another needing to be tended to. “We need water.” The silvery mare called. Duh! The Echo perked her ears and replied with a nod. Before running off to the nearest underground pool, Lidian convinced her pale familiar to stay with the survivors for a sense of security. And, with that, she was off.
Her hooves pounded loudly against the hard rock, alongside many others running with fear set in their bodies. Thankfully, a vast majority of the crowd had dispersed to the branching tunnels. Nevertheless, Lidian still managed to bump into a good chunk of panicked equines trying to find safety. The scaled beasts continued to soar above everyone's’ heads, igniting anything that would burst into flames. The still fearful, but, overcoming mule stopped by a few of the was once stalls of the fleed Makers, grabbing as many bucket like objects she could carry.
She quickly made it to the pool, filling the objects, and with her pathetic excuse for telekinesis, turned on her haunches back to the fiery structure. Coughs and hacks escaped the small mare as she passed other buildings that were unlucky enough to be caught ablaze. With smoke continuing to taint weak lungs, Lidian had hastily made it back. She took a very quick second to catch her breath before gently setting the “buckets” of water down before the semi-conscious crowd.
Fiacha excitedly and full of worry returned to Lidian’s side, hopping and flapping as if to tell her that the team inside didn’t have long. Groans of the burning foundation filled her large ears, her head snapped over to the fire as it made no effort to die down. A deep breath took her burning lungs. With a very labored exhale, Lidian removed her precious cloak, leaving it with the small foals.
“Please, take care of this.” She murmured. “Stay with them, Fiacha.” She spoke caringly, turning back to the building. A rush of pure adrenaline overtook the dark bay demi-mare as she launched herself into the unstable structure.
“Hello?!” She coughed, moving quickly around the home. Her eyes darted at the rescuers carefully navigating the tempermental beams and floors. Suddenly, an ear flicked back as a feeble cry resonated from a room nearby. Without thinking, Lidian followed the cries for help, come to find a scared and weak stallion.
“I’m here to help you.” She spoke with urgency, making her way to the side of the male. She told him to use her as a crutch of sorts. He listened and they worked their way towards the ring of fire that was their exit. Hooves grew hot and fire lapped at the ankles of the equines just trying to survive this ordeal. Lidian, trying to be strong for the stallion that was no older then she, help back a pained hiss. On the way to safety, she noticed a glinting blue horn collapsed upon the singed wood and the previous silver mare attempting to help with little success.
Getting the stallion back into the “safer-than-this-building” caves, Lidian made her way back to the weakened duo. Careful to try and disturb the flooring as little as possible, she finally made it to Nef and Kanu. “Let me help!” Speaking loudly over the roaring flames and fearful screams of outside, she pushed herself against the other side of the large unicorn. Her legs burned and her lungs grew weaker with every second but she was determined. No one would be left behind. They had to get out.

Regina
Regina nodded to the mare who ran to grab the other child she had found, but she did not speak. It was hard enough to breathe as it was she didn't need to make it easier for the smoke to reach her lungs. It was a struggle to make it out of the building now, parts of the walls and bits of ceiling crumbling, falling and blocking the easy paths. The added weight of the foal draped over her back didn't help much either with maneuvering around obstacles. She did make it out eventually, though, and unharmed other than a few minor burns and the soot giving her the appearance of being pure black.
She left the unconscious child with the others that had been rescued, trusting they'd be able to give the poor thing the attention it needed. She looked up at Jana then, and met her master's eyes, they were wide, fearful, and Regina wanted so badly to just lift the other mare up onto her back and get them both out of this hellhole,
"Jana, we-"
"There are still more inside, Regina, we cannot leave! Let me-" Regina's ears pinned as Jana stepped forward as though to enter the building herself, and she stepped quickly in front of her master, planting her head on the other's chest to hold her back.
"I am not letting you go in there!" She said, her voice crackling in her throat which burned from the smoke. After a moment Jana stopped trying to push back and Regina backed up a step. In any other circumstance the slave might have laughed at the forehead-shaped smudge of soot she'd left on Jana's pale chest, but now was not the time for laughter. "You can help more from out here, so stay put." Regina usually wasn't one to try to order Jana around, and most times would have been punished for it, but right now all she received from her master was a nod.
"Back into the fray then..." Regina muttered to herself as she turned and cantered back towards the burning building, leaping and side-stepping around burning bits and pieces that hardly even resembled a house anymore. Deep in the pit of her stomach, Regina knew the building wouldn't hold much longer, but she hardly cared much --it didn't matter to her if she were burnt, or crushed, or killed. As long as Jana was safe, that's all that really mattered. The dark mare practically launched herself up the stairs, skipping the second floor to go search the third. Up there the smoke was the thickest, a swirling, suffocating darkness that muffled her every sense, but still she searched. She found no one, though, and figured that the others must have found them all.
Later Regina would pinpoint the exact moment her life was ruined as the second she began her decent back down the stairs, for that was when she heard it. Jana's scream. Regina only froze for a moment before she was sprinting towards the sound, charging down to the second floor, straight through the fire licking at her legs and sides. She found Jana in the hall, a large plank which had fallen from the ceiling separating them --it's flames tall enough they would have reached Regina's ear-tips. The pale mare was seemingly frozen in place, her eyes wide and staring at the plank which Regina guessed had nearly landed on her.
"Jana! What are you doing here?" Regina yelled, running over towards the other.
"The house looked about ready to collapse, I didn't want you to-" Jana broke off into a coughing fit, to which Regina shushed her gently, but cut herself off when a sickening noise pierced her ears. The sound of cracking. "Regina?" Jana said, looking down at the floor under her hooves then back at Regina. Wide, terrified, ruby eyes met emerald for a moment through the wall of flames, and then the sound came again, louder this time.
And then the floor collapsed.
"JANA!" Regina screamed, lunging forward, not caring at all that the fire nearly consumed her in her panic to reach her master. The movement proved too much for the already weakened floor, however, and with one more resounding crack the floor beneath the dark mare fell in as well. She was weightless for perhaps a second, though it felt like an eternity. A lifetime of swirling smoke, of scalding embers and all consuming flame tumbling all around her. And then the sharp pain of a sudden landing, violently pushing every bit of breath she had in her lungs out into the maddeningly dry heat still pressing in around her.
Gasping and sputtering, Regina staggered to her hooves, her body now riddled with burns and cuts, a deep gash along the inside of her left foreleg dripping globs of crimson on the floor as she dragged herself out from under some of the wreckage.
"Jana?" She called out weakly, and then upon spotting a splash of perlino coat among the charred remains of the floor, yelled, "Jana!"
It was a painful, and losing battle to limp to her master and clear away the debris that were covering her, and in the end she only managed to free her master's head and shoulders. Half closed, dull red eyes stared ahead at nothing and Regina's world stopped for a moment, but only a moment. The sound that escaped the slave then could not be considered equestrian, it was a pained, feral, sound. The sound of someone who had just lost everything, who could have prevented it, saved her, done something gods damn it!
"Jana...Jana get up....this isn't funny anymore, please Jana....We have to go home remember? You have to see Dhaval again....Jana..." Regina could not recall the last time she had cried, but she did then. She laid herself down next to Jana on the smoldering ground, pressed her face into her master's blackened mane and she cried like a little filly, "Please wake up...don't leave me...I can't go on without you...please..."

Zahara|Breim Servant
Unsure if help would come to aid her Zahara shifted her hooves glancing from the older stallion to the door way. Which soon reveled a dark unicorn stallion which she new she had caught a glance at earlier in the day. Relief filled her as they tried to no prevail at getting the older stallion onto his back. It seemed almost impossible but then the stallion had started to wake. Finally getting him to his hooves Zahara stayed narrow the two to help keep the older horse on his hooves however, when Kanu's legs buckled under him she suddenly had the horse flung at her causing her to stumble back some against the weight of the larger body. Gasping she caused a coughing fit to rattle her small body but with no concern for her own she hesitated to leave Kanu. "But Sir I can't just leave you in here." She said to him though now she felt almost torn. There was no way she support two horses of their size on her own let allow mange to get the other off the ground. Ears flattening against her skull. "I'll bring help." She finally said hurrying the older stallion down the stairs and out what was left of the front door. Once outside Zahara tried to take a deep breath of the cleaner air but was only met with coughing a wheezing. Her body shook with the coughing as she made sure the old stallion was safe with the others. Once she had done that she turned to the nearest horse and quickly explained where Kanu was.
Zahara took only moment before she turned back to the flaming house which from outside one could see it was becoming more unsafe by the minute or at least she could hear the creaks and groans of the house in protest as the sound of walls falling in on themselves. With one crash Zahara's ears shot up hearing screams from inside. A shiver ran down her spine bolting into action she rushed back inside but to the protest of her own mind. She couldn't bring herself to leave someone inside to die. Looking everywhere as her ears scanned the sounds searching it out again. Just when was giving up hope on finding the horse she heard something. Inside one of the closets she found young mare huddled in the back shaking with fear. Slowly approaching her Zahara spoke softly to her. "Its alright now. I'm here to help you. I'll get you out safely." She told her gently nudging the mare she got her out of the closet and heading towards the outside.
Just before making it outside Zahara froze her ears caught the sound of the floor breaking from above. Hurrying the mare out of the house. Pausing she turned back almost unsure whether she should leave just yet. It hadn't been just the floor giving she had heard yelling too. Heat scorching at her she pushed forward back into the flames of the house. Letting her ears guide her she ignored the burning heat of the flames that creaked at her licking at her legs and sides. Soon her eyes landed on two blurred shapes one dark the other pale. One was alive the other she couldn't tell. Crying she could hear it over the flames but they had to get out. "Miss, we have to get out the house is about to come down." She called to the mare as she tried to get closer bumping into a sharp piece of wreckage she flinched back up for a moment.

KANU | NOBLE LORD
He could hear a muffled voice approach over the roar of the fire. He opened one eye wearily, and instantly it stung too much for him to keep open, so he held them both shut again. His muscles were shaking, weak, riddled with fatigue, and his lungs felt like sponges absorbing rat poison and disintegrating by the second. He let out a violent cough, sounding almost as though his insides had left with it. He lifted his head, revealing the small pup. It whimpered, running out and around the pale mares legs. Kanu did not know who was helping, but from their efforts he could tell they were small and his weight was too much for them. Just as the elder man had before, he was going to have to pitch in a little bit to help the mare help him. He mustered up as much strength as he could, and attempted to stand. Nope. He collapsed again, and let out a grunt of anguish and frustration. 'Come on, Kanu. Get the fuck up.' He scolded, legs trembling as he tried again.
Then another mare made herself known, entering the scene with just as much determination as the first. With the help of them both he finally made it to his feet, though the rest of his body still sagged, and almost melted back to the floor. They were either side of him, and despite their size and the fact that they were both mares, it was obvious they were fitter than him, whether they had tried to be or not. His physical health had dropped drastically over the passed few months- the whole reason he had struggled so much in the burning house. He had over estimated himself, thinking he'd be able to handle the amount of smoke he'd inhale by going into the house for such a long time.
Now, however, he'd regretted all the drinks he'd had and all the sitting he'd done instead of training like he used to. He was grateful for these mares, despite them being of a different herd, and that perhaps was what made him even more grateful, that they would risk their life for someone they didn't know.
"Please, make sure the dog is ok." He said, as though he regarded the dogs life more important than his own. Which was not entirely false. In fact he probably regarded his own life at the bottom of the food chain. Either way, he allowed the mares to half drag, half assist him in making his way down the burning stairs. His eyes were still shut tightly, too swollen and stinging to hold open. He coughed endlessly, heaving and barking so loud he'd popped his own ears. His breathing carried a whistling noise, and was uneven, though he tried his hardest to stay at least upright.
After what seemed like an eternity, Kanu finally made it to the front door. The dog ran out before him- though he had practically kicked it out to ensure its safety- and it hauled itself over to its family immediately, tail wagging and overall stature showing that it was ok. He scanned the front yard, seeing some of the members of the household out cold and receiving medical attention, and others terrorized over what had happened. His eyes were blurry, and the promise of fresher air and water made him all the more relieved. Knocking Kanu's thoughts out of the park was the sudden falling of the second floor. Kanu was still in the doorway, and missed floorboards, concrete and debris by mere millimeters as he jumped through the front door. He landed in a heap, unable to stand again. He was properly blacked out, though thankfully some of the family who were well enough joined with some other, stronger help to pull Kanu further from the house. They gave him water, though he did not react, and barely any stayed in his mouth. One even began resuscitating him, trying to get a response. There was none, but Kanu was still breathing, so all they could do was try to flush his airways and keep him alive until trained health professionals made it to the scene. He did not get a chance to say thank you, but he would before he left for home. WC: 717 PC: #5

Lidian | Echo Word Count: 472 Post: 4
Lidian coughed and hacked as the thickening smoke polluted her lungs, to no degree as the others, but hacked nonetheless. Her and the other mare, she vaguely knew of, being as they were both of Breim and Breimians made a culture of knowing one another, shoved all their strength into this unknown stallion. Despite him being of the herd who brought this destruction, he was just as important as the family he risked his life for. The pup that he was holding, and she had only got a quick glimpse of it as it ran for safety, had filled Lidian with an odd sense of valor.
“Come ooon.” The small mule grunted, more so to herself than anyone else.
She continued to support the partly conscious male, her body burned with the scorching temperature. The depths of the caves were always so cold, making the heat even more unbearable. Her eyes began to sting and water, as they moved as swiftly as possible down, the what was once a sturdy staircase. Large ears stayed flattened against her thick neck, noises began to all muddle together at this point. It was… annoying, to say the least. It was hard to focus, to see, to breath. Lidian was too pumped with adrenaline and the will to live, to panic. She stayed as steadfast as she could, others were counting on her right now.
Huffing and puffing, a sound so familiar, and now so toxic rang along with a loud crack and groan of the house. She could see it, the exit, it was right in her grasp. The taste of burning wood and memories lingered in her dry mouth, it was however sweetened by the idea of solace. A sigh of relief escaped her... a moment too soon.
Lidian’s ears shot forward as a gut wrenching snap followed by an unforgettable scream filled the air. “GO!” She yelled within her own head. Helping to propel the unicorn as he managed to launch himself out just in the nick of time, she began to follow. However, the small “heroin” wasn’t as lucky. Just as she was about to make her weak escape, burning floorboards crashed down upon her back legs. An ungodly yell of pain was let out of her, probably, now blackened lungs. More screams of loss and pain filled the collapsed structure mimicking that of the ravaging smoke. It felt as if Ignacio himself had hold of her. She couldn’t breath, her legs burned like the building. Panic began to set in, making breathing that much more difficult. She didn’t have the mental or physical stamina anymore to try and get herself out. Nostrils flared and ribs heaved as Lidian laid there. This wasn’t the way she imagined herself leaving this world. She ran through a prayer to Argus, accepting the seemingly inevitable.

Nefertiti | Echo |Breim
Nef hadn’t even realized she had closed her eyes in her strain to lift the stallion. But she sure as cascades curls noticed once they shot open in surprise, the stallion now becoming easier to right. Was this some sort of gift that had shown itself now? When the stallion was balanced slightly on his feet, she noticed the mule echo move to his other side to balance him. It was a familiar face, but there was no time to remember names now.
The stallion's legs stumbled slightly beside her as he coughed and heaved, moving shakily with him down the stairs. The groans and creaks of the slowly falling house followed behind them like an encroaching ripple of doom. It was nerve wracking. The dog he had sheltered had found its way through the flames before them, and just as Nefertiti looked up to watch it move out of the smoke and the front door, a sound of wood cracking like thunder boomed through the roar.
Dear Gods, please guide us to safety.
With a hard shoving force, or at least as hard as the mare could, she pushed the unicorn harder and faster through the flames, hoping he wouldn’t fall. The sounds of would splintering and screams filled the air just as they had reached the door, and with a hard shove she helped to launch the stallion forward to safety, feeling the loose, burning boards crash down around her, her back legs collapsing as a heavier plank crashed onto her flanks. Yelling out in pain before scrambling to right herself, she looked to where her partner had been and yelled out again. This time in a desperate “NO!”
Fighting through the roar of smoke she used her strength to push the boards that now threatened to be her fellow echo’s tomb. Shoving the debris as best she could, she gave a roaring shove as she reared up to push a beam away, carrying the ashen debris with it.
The fire roared around them like a herd of bears, and the rest of the house was shrouded in thick black smoke. There wasn’t time left to look for anyone, at least not for this pair. “C’mon! We have to go!” She called desperately to the mule, hoping that she was free enough to move. Glancing between the door that led to safety and her fallen herd member desperately. Thick coughing and hacking filled her throat, lowering her head to be in the thinnest of the smoke.
Ignacio be gentle with us.

Moonrise|Adoh|Artisan-Blacksmith
Horses rushed out the door and back in, they seemed to be quickly clearing the house. Moonrise was about to rush over to where Kanu had collapsed and was being helped by two other mares when a loud crash signaled the ceiling coming down. Moonrise jumped out of the way of some of the falling beams, looking around at the house that was still, just barely, standing. She could hear it, the groaning, the breaking, this house wasn't going to last much longer. Moonrise felt her mouth go dry from the fear that only now started to grip her. She looked around, the rescuers were still inside, time to go.
"This house is about to come down, everyone out now!" she shouted as loud as she could, standing by the door to make sure everyone got out. Hopefully they'd managed to grab everyone inside, she counted ten horses outside, and then six of them inside, but the six were those who had rushed in to save the ten, plus a dog. Her eyes were wide under the goggles, her feet shifting every few seconds to avoid burning the underside of her hooves on the ever increasing heat of the floor. She coughed, the scarf's preventative barrier starting to fail with the amount of time she's spent in the house.

Lidian | Echo
Word Count: 383 Post: 5
Fully expecting to just be left under the scorched rumble, the little mule was more than surprised to see her partner in crime frantically help to free her. One beam after the other, she felt lighter and lighter, the silver mare’s words rattled her ears. Someone honestly cared enough to save her? Amazing. With another shot of adrenaline and the encouragement of her counterpart, Lidian staggered to her hooves. Parts of her back legs now blistering, she snorted, clearing her sooty nostrils. Ears sheepishly dropped to the side, Lidian gave Nef a quick glance with thankful, and watery, eyes. Now wasn’t a time for formal “thank you”s, however, she was to make sure to do so when the time came for it.
Coming back to reality and realizing they were still in a collapsing building, Lidian gave an urgent, gentle, but urgent, push to her herd member. Making sure she got out before herself, the Echo followed closely behind. Hooves pounded the weak flooring as Lidian made her lame escape, brushing past the dark mare who had brought them all to help in the beginning. She bounded through the flaming door, making a stumbled landing just outside. Gasping for clean air, she made sure the other mare made it out safe as well. She scanned the area, medics had made to the site caring for the family that had just lost everything. Finally, looking back to the house, it began to crumble before her. Worry poured from her body, she knew not everyone was out. 2 Breimians and an Aodhian had fully made it outside, leaving 3 others to be left inside.
Everything ached to go in and help them out, despite just having escaped from being crushed, but that was not plausible. She was lucky enough to have made it out herself. Coughing lightly, she went on to find her cloak and familiar. Lidian had been quickly reunited with both, which were being taken care of by a small filly. Clothing herself once again, not because she was cold, Lord Argus was she not cold, but because it calmed her. She limped on over to the general area of Kanu and Nefertiti, sort of “watching over” them, probably worrying with them as well, as they awaited the fate of few left inside.

Nefertiti | Echo | Breim
Relief washed over her as she watched the mule crawl free of the rubble left on her, getting to her feet. There wasn’t much time for words though, as the roaring of the flames brought her back to their harsh reality. A loud cracking groan from the walls signaled it was time for them to leave, Nef turned to look at the front door, which was now billowing smoke out into the cavern of Nariah. She hadn’t realized she had frozen in place until the shove from her fellow echo helped her find her feet. Scrambling slightly before taking off, her nostrils filling with the thick smoke and causing her to cough as she bolted with the mule for the door. The sounds of more crashing rubble in the house only helped to push them further. Yelping softly as a dark mare moved past them into the house just out of the doorway.
A breath of fresh air filled her lungs as she bursts from the fire and smoke, looking to make sure her partner had made it out as well. Once she noted her safety, she walked over to the group of horses crowded around the outside, both those rescued and the exhausted rescuers. Moving towards the large stallion she and the other echo had helped get out of the house. He had collapsed outside, and she could hear his wheezing breaths as she trotted closer to him. Giving another hard cough to try and clear her lungs, she could now tell she was dizzy from dehydration. Once water was offered to her she eagerly drank it down, watching others trying to get the unicorn to respond or drink.
Walking around in front of him, she pushed her head under his skull to help his neck into a straight line. It would help him breath, at least. Her mother was a Healer, but she did not remember very much of what she tried to teach her. Lifting her head again she closed her eyes and began to pray to each of the gods, her lips moving softly as she mouthed the words.
This prayer would start with Ignacio, which was unheard of for a Breimian, but she thought in this case, the god of fire would be the first to respond for his herd. She had never truly feared him like other Breimians, but she still felt unease with the idea, which subsided as she moved to each god in turn in her prayers.
Good to cover all of your bases in a situation like this.

Regina
Regina's gaze shot up as soon as she heard the other mare speak to her, her lip curling back into a snarl. Somewhere in the back of her mind she knew the other was right, the house was on the verge of collapsing, and any other time she would have listened and gotten herself out of there. At that moment, though, her mind was running on grief alone, filling her thoughts with irrational ideas and driving her to pin her ears and glare up at the mare trying to help her, " I'm not leaving her!" She snapped, breaking off into a coughing fit before she could even finish the sentence. The ceiling above them, or what was left of it at least, creaked out a warning as ash and broken bits of floor and wall rained down, covering Regina's back in a growing layer of debris. Perhaps it was merely a hallucination, born from a mixture of shock, grief, and smoke inhalation, but for a moment everything just seemed to fade into the background, everything but the softest whisper of "go..." in a voice which belonged to the mare laying dead in front of her. And so Regina went. She stumbled to her hooves, ash and chunks of ceiling falling from her back as she staggered, nearly falling as the pain from from injury hit her full force. She would swallow her pride and allow the other mare to help her, if she wished to, as Regina couldn't bring herself to care anymore. She was leaving all that mattered to her behind to burn away into nothing, she really couldn't afford to be prideful anymore. post: 4 words: 275

Zahara| Breim servant
Zahara's ears flattened when the mare snapped at her but she stood her ground. She didn't blame the mare she could tell that the fallen mare on the ground had been close to her. Flinching slightly when the bits of ceiling rained down on them. Opening her mouth to speak again in hopes of getting the mare to move Zahara stopped herself as the mare got up in a stumbling manner. Quickly she pressed herself up against the mare to help keep her up and keep from of the weight on her injuries. Leading the mare out she had to be careful for it seemed with every step she took the house would groan and creak. More of the ceiling and house began to fall again. They needed to hurry but she didn't want to cause more injury to the mare. Thankfully they made it outside before another terrible groan came from the house and more of the ceiling caved in on where they had been only moments ago. Sighing in relief only to start cough Zahara took several moments to finally stop coughing and to be able to get fresh air into her lungs.

alone.
Moonrise counted as each horse ran through the doorway, then looked outside and finished her count. This seemed to be everyone, minus.... she looked over solemnly at the body of the mare trapped under the debris. Well, at least her body would know the embrace of ignacio's fire, it wasn't a proper pyre, but a pyre none the less. There was a loud crack, sending a jolt of fresh adrenaline through Moonrise's body and her hooves moved, leaping out of the building just as the resounding cracks and crashes of a now eaten away foundation boomed out behind her. Turning her head back, she found that nothing but burning rubble remained of the once proud home.
She coughed several times as she removed the cloth from around her face, lungs filling themselves with fresh, well fresher, air. She lifted her goggles off her eyes, making shuddering steps towards the group of rescued and rescuer. Crystal eyes glanced to each frightened briemian, then to each of those who had helped her free those inside. Finally, her gaze stopped on one of the mare's who had been saved.
"Is this everyone ma'am?"
the mare timidly looked up, then around at her family around her. With labored coughs the mare looked back at the blacksmith.
"Yes, everyone is here, thank you, thank you all."
Moonrise let her breath out slowly, before she looked back at Regina. Quietly she took a few steps over to her.
"I'm... sorry, for your loss Regina. You two seemed quite close." she murmured solemnly. The pain in her side flared as she set her hoof down wrong, the adrenaline was fading now and her brain wasn't blocking out the signals of pain as well as it had moments before. She winced, looked back over the group, then towards the Briemian horses who had helped rescue.
"Please, I know you might not think highly of our herd right now, but I can tell you we never intended for any of this to happen, we came to mend bonds, not tear them further. You know this place better than Kanu, Regina or I, where can we take these horses and ourselves to get healed and keep these horses safe until the dragons are taken care of?" She asked, bowing her head for a moment as she spoke her request.

Lidian | Echo Word Count: 202 Post: 6
The adrenaline was fading and Lidian’s back legs began to burn again. She kept shifting weight between them, her head low and tired. Her breathing continued to be labored but ever so slightly. She took a quick glance at the family and visitors around her before snapping her ears towards the falling home. Merely wincing at the sight, the dark mare took a deep breath and relieved with a pained sigh. She was too drained and her legs killed. Her pale familiar cooed softly, cozying into the hood of Lidian’s velvet cloak.
Ears flickered over to oncoming hoofsteps, shortly followed by heterochromatic eyes. It was the mare that originally called for them to help this unknowing family. Taking a second to look at the spent equines around, she was the first to respond.
“I know I can’t speak for everyone, however, I can’t imagine that this was the intention.” She spoke the truth with smoke coated lungs. Even though the small voice in the back of her mind would argue otherwise. Lidian refused to believe this was Aodh’s plan, after all the wonderous stories she’s read of the golden cities, never. “The palace should have doctors and healers that can help us.”

Zahara | Breim Servant Blue hazel eyes watched the house continue to burn and collapse on itself. They had been lucky enough to everyone out safely but they still had lost one. Though she did not know the mare it was clear the two had been closer however as her eyes moved from the fire to look at the blurred shapes of the horses around her she breathed in the smell of smoke and scent of burns. Lowering her ears she turned her graze to the black mare who had spoken. Of course she didn't think Aodh had planned this. It would have ruined everything if they had but she couldn't bring herself to think that they had. After all their own horses had been here too and could have been hurt. "Do not worry about that at the moment lets gets these horses safe." Zahara agreed with Lidian though she started to cough again. Her smoke filled lungs were still making it hard to breath but she could let it stop her now. When Lidian mentioned the Palace for the safe place she nodded and stepped forward "The Palace is probably the safest place we could take them. I know they can help and I believe that is where everyone would be heading now." Pausing she thought carefully she wasn't sure who all knew how to get there but working there she knew where to go and the shortest roots. "I can show the way." She said softly.

KANU | NOBLE LORD
Foggy, drowned out sounds filled Kanu's ears as he slowly came to. His eyes felt sealed shut, threatening to sting and sizzle if he opened them. He forced his eyelids to part anyways, gritting his teeth at the sudden bright light that shrouded his vision. Of course there was no real light in this series of caves and tunnels, but the smoke had compromised his eyesight, and it took a good few minutes and a few hundred blinks for them to settle and reconfigure. He looked around, the blues of his eyes looking more vibrant than they had in a long time due to his red and irritated sclera. He lifted his head, the extent of what had just happened hitting him like a train. He never would have imagined that his return to this purple city would have unfolded like this. He flopped his head back to the ground in defeat, cracking a small smile. He was alive. Perhaps he didn't deserve to be, and he definitely didn't feel alive in physical or mental terms. But he was. He would live to see another day. Live to see his family again.
Kanu lifted his head again, this time his body following suit. He was shaky, and weak, but he forced himself to stand as Moonrise spoke. He couldn't move, for he already knew that if he tried to, he would faceplant, and he really didn't want that in front of everyone. Through blurry vision he saw the dog he'd tried to rescue, content that he had succeeded. Everyone was coughing, heaving. Some were crying, hugging, rejoicing. Kanu himself let out a cringe-worthy cough, saliva and mucus dribbling from his mouth due to the ferocity of his heave. He quickly turned his head and wiped his muzzle on his shoulder, not really wanting anyone to see that, either.
'The palace should have doctors and healers that can help us.' The Breimian mentioned. Kanu liked the sound of that. Something to clear his lungs and re-hydrate him. His head pounded, and if he didn't get help for the symptoms of severe smoke inhalation soon, it'd most likely have everlasting effects. He hadn't been inside the palace, but he had been there a few times before when he'd lived here. His... former lover had often taken him to the gates, telling him of her dreams to one day belong there. It wouldn't prove for nice memories, but it was necessary. And if he ever saw her again he'd be able to tell her that he'd been inside. Exciting.
He tried to speak, but his voice was so raspy it irritated his throat and caused him to cough violently again. Perhaps for now he'd stay quiet, however he did step forward- looking like a foal on new, shaky legs- to show that he was, well, still alive.
