Icabod ~ War-Forged ~ RaiderIcabod struggled to help Darius. He could hardly see what he was doing, from the blood pouring down his face and the water crashing against the rocks. The stallion had a feeling that if he wasn't careful, he would slip back into the raging waters.
Icabod frowned as he heard Evokar's shouts. He could have sworn they were too far down the river. Then again, he had been tossed in every direction, so maybe they were only a few yards from the ledge and the bridge. Icabod narrowed his eyes in annoyance. "Evokar, I can't even see your damn rope! No way I can even get myself up it, let alone Darius..." His attitude was only growing more sour. He couldn't see half of his surroundings, everything hurt, and Evokar was continuing to be a horrid leader. Icabod shook his head. It wasn't his fault, the stallion was young and inexperienced. But, that didn't change the fact that Icabod was pissed and felt ready to die.
He rubbed his face on his leg. That only made it worse. "Darius, you gotta help me out here or we aren't gonna be able to get you back up." His words were calm when he spoke to the pegasus. Darius hadn't meant to be dragged into the river either. If Icabod could help the scout out, maybe they could run after Zemora. But, they were in a tricky spot, wet boulders, no real path or shore. It would be hell trying to get out of there. Icabod was beginning to regret his decision to come on this mission even more. Whatever punishment he would have had wouldn't have been nearly as bad.

"By Kaia's heart," Anna muttered softly, watching as Icabod smiled and then turned to glare at herself. Interesting to say the least that a Raider would be more inclined to act respectful for vagabonds, whom of which truly belonged in iron chains off to Aodh, than towards one of his own herd mates. Anna, on the other hand, stalled her tongue only for those that warranted her respect. Icabod and Darius did not commend that, nor did Zemora or Deyanira; hardly so, could Anna even see herself working under Evokar without issue. And, it was all likely just due to the fact that Anna was a rude and fickle soul. It was a wonder Nimerah could even stand to learn under the mare, but it was something they worked out.
That's what Anna had to do now. She had to make a shaky peace with all those with her, simply for the fact that they would not be getting anything done without working together. "I understand where you are coming from, but we have no reason to lie." Anna could have barked in laughter, no reason to lie, being outnumbered and threatened was all the reason to lie. Vagabonds lied through their teeth, Anna had not yet met one that was truly honest, not that she cared to seek them out in the first place.
"See what you can find out?" Evokar's voice prompted Anna to again, look over the Vagabonds. It was not Deyanira who worried the pony mare, she looked almost too delicate to be in the harsh Onea forests. Unlike the hardy pony and the rest of the War-forgers. But, Zemora... Zemora was a wild card to Anna. So the pony mare was grateful when the mare chewed up the herbs and then volunteered.
So she watched Deyanira calmly, cocking up her back hoof and watching the mare with seeming disinterest, when in reality, she felt like she was assessing Nimerah, her student. Figure out what the other was thinking, sidestep it if it was a mistake, follow through if it is good-intentioned. See when the other was confused, but not sure how to speak up about it, or when they were extremely confident. She merely had to warp it a bit to fit the criteria of assessing a Vagabond, whom she truly knew nothing about.
"I'd watch yourselves down there, the water looks mighty cold and I don't want to have to treat even more chills than what I expect in the village." Anna called down, offering some ill attempt at breaking some ice between the group. In reality, she didn't hate them, merely disagreed. So any step towards them working together now, or at least talking amongst each other without insults littering their words, was a step in the right direction.
However, it was without answer as, in that very moment, the grating noise threw Anna into an even more sour mood. It was as if everything Anna could have wished not to happen, happened, and she snorted in unhappiness even as the chaos unfolded. Sure, she was surprised, and yet, at the same time she wasn't. They were asking for it to eb perfectly fair. Darius's voice brought her to her senses again and she widened her eyes and stepped closer the Vagabond in order to see the raging flow of water. It was worse than she expected, so much so that for a moment, the mare thought of the very real possibility of having a fatal injury on her hands. One easily garnered by being whipped along the rocky riverbed by icy, numbing currents.
Icabod's head popped up, pushing against the current. For once this day, Anna saw a proper use of his skill and strength. Silently, she thanked him for not getting himself hurt and therefore distracting her from more pressing injuries. Even so, the stallion appeared to be bleeding a bit raggedly from his face. She'd need to get to him to assess him though, and that wasn't happening in the next few minutes. Then he pulled Darius along towards him, and Anna sighed again. Two down, one to go? Evokar's voice shook Anna alive. "I'll get Zemora, if this rat runs off though, it's not my issue. If she comes along and I end up mugged I swear to Kaia, you'll never hear the end of it." Even in crisis, Anna's attitude would not let go. The pony mare bared her teeth at the Zorse and swiftly jumped her way down the river bank, as much so she could. Being smaller than the rest, and more stout, she doubted there was one truly more suited to the terrain than she.
Her small hooves took her along the rushing water, and she was careful not to get wet. She passed Icabod and Darius somewhat apologetically, but she was told to check up on the missing horse. ...
"Zemora!" The pony mare shouted. She had found a fairly shallow crossing, at least the deepest part of the river ran right through the middle of the stream and was not too wide. She was sopping wet and shivering, but with her telekinesis, she had held her fur cloak above the water and it now warmed her shoulder's and back. Currently, she walked the river's edge, shouting for someone that she had to be careful around, and yet, whom she was still wasting her time looking for. Deyanira had yet to show up, so if the mare was following Anna, now would be the time to show.
"I swear on Kaia, if I planned to do you ill I wouldn't have come looking for you." The mare grumbled loudly, annoyed and cold, she was not enjoying this mini-search.
"I even left Deyanira alone. She may have run off or she's lagging behind, regardless, you know as well as I that even if you get a fire going you're at a war with the elements. Much more so since you're soaked to the bone." The mare squinted through the trees, spotting some bushes that looked to be pushed aside somewhat.
"I can see that you're around. At least, if you plan on running off, yell at me or something. I don't want to be looking for you, you know." She called out, orange hair swinging about her in wet, curly, and stringy locks.

Evokar Stone Circle of War Forged
Curled ears pinned back to his skull, all he asked was for them to look to try and seek it out, the rope. But of course it was too much, he had a knack it seemed of asking for too much. "I'll get it to you then." he remarked with aggravation in his voice. he didnt want, he knew the toll it would take on his body, but it was life or death it seemed and if Dairus was to go under with wings and all, it would take a toll on him, and possibly his life, he thought to himself. Eyes closed as he wove another grass rope once more with his gift from Kaia and prayed to her, she would give him strength to carry on. He tied the rope against his frame as he had done with the other, this time he focused more. Eyes closed for a moment a steady breath shaking from his lips. Evokar opened them, and suddenly the vines of rope went seeking outwards looping around both Darius and Icabod. "Don't move let it wrap around your body some. You'll have to help me get you all to shore." he remarked his breath was already heavy. Eyes turned to Anna as she spoke and he snorted a bit nodding to her, she was stubborn and forceful with her words, but he trusted her, and knew if she did get mugged, he would indeed never hear the end of it. Oh Kaia, he thought mercifully, don't let her get mugged.
Eyes looked to them as he gave them a nod offering them an encouraging smile. "Once you both are ready, you'll both have to try your hardest to swim towards me, while I try to drag you all towards shore. This rope is sturdy, with my gift I can make sure it doesnt snap." He called out to them. Evokar knew this was going to be to much for him, that if he got them to shore, he was unsure if he would even be able to stand for a while. But he wanted to prove to them all he was worthy of being their leader. He saw their looks could feel their body language to them. If it wasn't pity, it was spite towards him. Evokar pinned his ears back farther to his skull and waited for the two to move towards him, so he get them to shore. He could do this, he had no doubt, he could do this, he would save them. "Ready whenever you both are." he remarked. He didnt want to pull one over the other, so he had to choose to take them both at once, so maybe they both could help support each other if needed. This team, needed to act like a team for everyone's sake.

Water pounded in his ears, washing over him, trying to drag him back down into its swirling depths. He clung to the rock with all his strength, his hooves skidding over the slimy, slick surface of the boulder he'd latched on to. Suddenly, with a lurch and a scraping sound he heard even over the roar of the waters, one hoof lost its purchase on the stone. At the same moment, though, he felt a new support, as if he was being pulled up and out of the water by a force not quite strong enough to get him all the way out. Over the rush of water he heard a voice calling to him. He couldn't spare the air to answer, but the extra support was enough to counteract the pull of the water on his wings. Why, oh why, couldn't he have wings like most pegasi? Why did he have to have wings that didn't work when they were soaked?
He scrambled up onto the rock next to Icabod. Once he was out of the water he started to cough, spitting up what felt like half the river. Finally he was able to draw in a full breath, and he tucked his wings in close to his body. There wasn't much room on the rock, and he felt unbalanced, so, carefully, he leapt to a nearby boulder before turning to look at Icabod and giving him a grin that was born more of adrenalin than actual amusement.
"Not how you thought this day was going to go, huh?" He had to shout to be heard over the river, and he gave a shaky laugh. They were still trapped on the river, and he looked around, fighting off a sense of panic as he tried to find a way out.
Evokar was standing on the shore. He looked as if he was concentrating deeply, and Darius flicked his ears forward alertly. What was he...
Plants began to curl around the stallion's feet, and Darius realized what was happening. Earth-blessed, he thought incredulously. Kaia above, the stallion was earth-blessed! He hadn't known, and in the moment he felt a deep rush of gratitude towards Kaia and her wisdom. Evokar was growing a huge, thick vine, which twisted and grew its way towards him and Icabod. Wait. They had to go back in the river. Darius groaned, and very nearly refused the rope in favor of waiting for his wings to dry. At that moment, though, the rock he stood on shifted under his feet and he realized that was... not the best idea. He reached out for the rope, reaching out and grabbing it with his telekinesis. Once it was close enough he grabbed it with his teeth and launched himself back into the river, cursing it, himself, and the weather in general for putting him in this situation.
It wasn't that difficult to reach the other side with the rope, though he nearly lost his grip more than once. Finally he pulled himself onto the bank next to Evokar, feeling rather foolish as he stood, dripping and shivering, next to the shorter stallion. "Thank you, and good thinking with the vine. Anything I can do to help?" He backed up and spread his wings, flapping them quickly to shake water out. He'd thought Evokar young and inexperienced, but the younger horse had just saved his life and shown quick thinking in a crisis. He would make a leader yet.

|| Z E M O R A - H E D G E W I T C H ||Zemora had felt the tension of being under the watchful eyes of the scout lift off her battered form, until the small pony mare's voice carried clear and sharp across the cold air. Zemora almost screamed at the frustration of it all. She listened to the grumpy mare and had to admit these weren't raiders or Chevaliers or Guardians for that matter. She was a medic if Zemora could guess right and the only big horses they had in their group were half drowning in the raging river. But Zemora was stubborn. She'd been raging against the elements for almost twenty years now. She knew how to survive. This wasn't even the worst of some of her journeys. She could find somewhere to take shelter. But then a deep shudder racked her form as a small breeze blew by. Zemora gritted her teeth and angrily kicked a tree.
The lithe, older mare found a rotted tree to hide among as she tried to figure out her course of direction. She stood still and silently watched the brightly colored mare in the grey forest. The little pony made a claim she wasn't out to hurt Zemora. But their reception after being rescued was anything but pleasant. If anything Zemora could definitely take on the pony, for a time at least. The unicorn's mind was reeling endlessly at what to do. She didn't see Deyanira anywhere nearby and knew nothing of how she was after the river ride. Had she fallen in herself? Did Zemora hold any responsibility to the younger Hedgewitch? Her heart was tearing back and forth over that fragile ethical line she danced on for a living.
Zemora felt her ears pin tightly against her head as she realized the truth behind her situation. Angrily she shouted to the pony, "I swear to Kaia! I only wanted to leave your lands! If your damn bridge had stayed in one piece no one would be in this predicament!" Zemora couldn't stay still any longer. She leapt from her hiding place and trotted up to the much smaller mare, still keeping enough distance and earthly debris between the two of them to aid in any escape. "I am pretty damn cold and would love nothing than to find a warm inn to spend the night. I am not your enemy and I'm pretty tired of being treated as one. If you promise not to harm myself or my friend I will accompany you back to wherever you see fit. I can feel your nervousness when you look at me or at Deya. You are War Forged, are you not? Where is this fear coming from?! Your people are the strongest I've ever met and the most stoic. Fear is not a natural emotion I've experienced among your people."
As the mare spoke of the horses she loved the most she softened and let her passion take over her anger. She slowly stepped towards the medic and proudly held her head high, hoping the position wouldn't look threatening. She honestly was too old to create anymore hatred among the Oneans. Her memories from decades ago weighed heavily on her mind and she felt drained of any fight. All she wanted was to travel back in time and curl up with her lover one more time. But instead she stood shivering, icy water trickling down her spine and over her hocks.
"I could just turn and go. You know that right? You couldn't stop me. I may be half alive at the moment, but as unfortunate as it is to say I am bigger than you. And you don't seem too keen to keep me in your watch. But I am cold. I am bruised and I am pretty sure I've attracted the beginnings of a nasty cold. I would like to leave this mountain pass and head to the next town to at least dry my cloak. Now do you have anything in that pack of yours that may still be dry? If you have a bit of feverfew that'll do the trick." Zemora lifted her eyes from the pony and tried to see what was going on the other side of the river. "Also I feel like we should be helping those big dumb idiots who got stuck in the river. I'm not heartless, just old and grumpy."
Zemora walked past the pony and headed towards her cloak, which looked like a disgruntled wet animal and picked up the sopping fabric. Disapprovingly she shoved it into a pocket of her pack and closed her eyes as she felt the cold wetness seep through the pack against her skin. "This is such a shitty day," she muttered under her breath as she moved towards the edge of the river.
Post #6 (word count: 797) P.S. I may switch Zemora's decision. But I'm not sure. ;^; I just thought I should at least post this now just so it is up here.

Icabod ~ War-Forged ~ Raider Icabod was still somewhat recovering from the freezing waters. His body convulsed in shivers just standing there. He smiled at Darius, glad the other stallion was safe once again. He would have been very unhappy with himself had he let the pegasus wash down the river to die.
The raider wasn't so happy about Evokar's help. After the day they'd had, the way he'd treated their 'leader', it made him feel pathetic to need help from the young stallion. Icabod took in a ragged breath as he watched Darius reenter the river. His second breath was much deeper. "You let me drown and I'm coming back to haunt you!" He shouted up to Evokar.
Slowly, Icabod stepped a little closer to the edge of the boulder. He looked from the water to the rope-like vines. The stallion swallowed hard then plunged into the icy waters. He swam carefully toward the plant. It took most of his strength to push against the currents. But, he managed to grip the vine in his teeth. It felt weird to be dragged through the water by Evokar's gift.
By the time they were back on the ledge, Icabod was extremely thankful. He dipped his head with a pathetic look on his face. "Thanks for the help, Evokar." He muttered and flopped onto his side to catch his breath. Icabod's whole body was aching at this point.

Evokar Stone Circle of War Forged
It was hard to tell, even with looking at him, to see the poor stallion shake, but he was, and terribly at that. The Plants that grasped at his legs seemed to whisper sweet nothings in his ear. As if asking to fall down to crumble, to allow the plants to feast on his energy. But his gift was different then most, he seemed to have a knack for over doing it, and thus he lacked control, lacked will, and the plants and the plains called out for more, to suck the mere energy from his form. Sweat dripped from his brows, he hadn't worked it like this since the day with Fox and the wolves. He shuddered at the thought.
Eyes focused more as Darius made the leap to move towards him, to try and get to shore. He focused on that vine, his mind begging it not to snap, to continue to grow and move. He gulped a bit, but a deep sigh of relief escaped his lips as he saw Darius had made it ashore. "Are you alright Darius?" he asked him earnestly. Though Evokar was not the best with healing, really had no gift for it, he knew to bandage and wound and that's about it. A faint chuckle escaped his lips as he looked to Darius as he asked for what he could do. "Grab onto this vine, and make sure I don't fall in." he chuckled, but it was clear to see the exhaustion already in his face.
Attention turned to Icabod and he nodded, though cracked a smile at his words. "No one is dying today Icabod." he chuckled, though he coughed some as his form shoke more, but the plants around his hooves seemed to keep him firmly there. With the help of another, this one did not drain him as much, though Evokar swore he could weep happily as he saw Icabod get onto solid ground. "Are you alright?" He remarked eyeing him, as Evokar dropped his blessing, and shook a bit as sweat dripped from his brow. Evokar was exhausted and tired and all he wanted to was to lie down, the same as Icabod, yet he felt that voice in the back of his mind telling him to keep strong and stand tall for War Forged. He shook his head, letting curls of his mane toss about. Eyes looked to the other Vagabond, the one that didnt fall into the waters, he was a bit concerned, she seemed a bit silent, perhaps a relapse of the mind. "Still with us?" he nickered to her gently. He voice calm and gentle like the first snowfall.

Checkpoint: You’ve managed to save the injured horses by working together. Now, with everyone cold, wet, perhaps minorly injured but very alive, the War Forged must decide what to do with the Vagabonds who have helped them. This is your final checkpoint, good job everyone! Figure out what you want to do, and write your "wrap up" posts, although you're welcome to continue to rp up until the deadline for the AP bonuses. <3
