Einar looked up and down the dark street before carefully securing his small shop's wooden door. The young fjord took a deep breath and shook his head, trying to shake off the exhaustion of the day. It had been a fairly busy business day, nothing to write home about, but he'd made a nice enough profit. But as always, as the sun set so did his customers. Leaving the usually crowded Gilded Bridge all but empty, save for a handful of stragglers. Finally feeling the door was properly bolted, the stallion turned his body the same direction as his mind, home. More than ready to collapse in a pile on his soft bed, with warm sheets up to his neck. He listened absently to the sound of his own hooves hitting the cobblestone, almost loosing himself in the noise as he turned a corner. As he did so, the dun bumped into another horse, causing both to lose their balance. "Oops, sorry." Einar apologized, with a concerned expression. However, before he could finish, the other horse bolted away, their dark cape fluttering after them. "Wonder what their deal was?" He scoffed under his breath, slightly annoyed but too tired to carry it any further.

I gasped, taking in a deep breath of air. Oh baby, those fries are spicy!, I thought, rinsing my mouth out with water. They weren't kidding when she said they were uber hot. I was trying out one of my fellow merchants merchandise, enjoying the scenery on my way home when I saw quite a commotion at the intersection. A very short, and I mean short, horse was literally ran over by a figure in a dark cape. They crashed into each other, the taller of the two tripping over the smaller. The smaller horse didn't even have time to say sorry before the other horse was up and gone. I glanced in the direction of the figure, but quickly forgot about him. I walked over to the other horse, a nice looking, but tired, dun stallion.
"You okay?" I asked, crunching down another spicy fry. Oh crap. Bad idea. Baddd idea. I toke another large slurp of my water, hoping to hide my cringing face. I think she put a little too much chili powder on these fries. Oh great. Now my eyes are watering. I tried to blink without the stallion noticing but I think I failed. Bleagh...

Einar turned his head at the unfamiliar voice, sending the metal links on his bridle jingling. His bright blue eyes rested on the speckled chestnut mare behind him as she took a long gulp of water from a flask. "Uh um yeah. I'm fine." He said slowly, stumbling over his words. His mind still too foggy to entirely register what she said or why she was crying. Until that was, he caught sight of the pack of red orange fries. Slowly the dun nodded his head and smiled as it dawned on him. "Yeah, you should watch those." He started, motioning to her snack. "I had those before, and I swear once I was done, I could literally breathe fire." He chuckled, looking back on the previously painful experience with a sense of humor that only time can bring. As he spoke the fjord continued moving, slower than before, hoping to perhaps get some interesting conversation out of his new acquaintance, but still creeping his hooves towards home.
"Personally, I prefer something sweet. Like I dunno, a pastry or something." He shrugged, stomach growling faintly. It seemed as if the instant food was mentioned his stomach lurched forward, deciding lunch was far too long ago to count.

"Well, I know this great doughnut shop a block or two away." I said, eyeing the fries. I think I'm going to leave these here... poor seagulls. I set them down near a trash can, motioning to the fjord to follow me to the shop. "They have doughnut holes, pumpkin doughnuts, chocolate covered, powdered, basically any kind of doughnut. Also, I think they might sell gelato." Mmmmm... gelato. "Oh, I'll buy for you. You look like you've had a tough day."

The stallion paused for a moment, considering her offer. While there were few things more attractive right now than his own warm bed, it had been far too long since he had last spent the night out. Maybe some excitement would wake him back up. " Sounds like fun. But you don't have to do that, got some crystal burning a hole in my wallet anyway." He grinned, not wanting to inconvenience the stranger more than he had to. " I'm Eniar," the dun started, realizing he hadn't introduced himself yet. " Own a shop block or two that way." He motioned over his shoulder to the eerie street behind him. [word count 108] (ooc: I don't think I've ever had that. Sounds tasty though. thinking they realize they've been robbed at the restaurant?)

"Liri. Nice to meet you, Eniar. My shop, well... stall, is over on the Gilded bridge." Though it's not a very nice spot, I thought, leading the stallion to the delicious shop. I rounded the corner, taking in the smells of the bakers street. Rightly named too. I looked for the brightly colored sign, spotting it. I headed toward it, checking the pricing list on the way in. Good, the gelato is a couple shards cheaper today. They must have made a fresh batch.
"Hey Liri! Your usual?" The waiter asked, leading us to a window table. "Sure. Give us a minute so my friend can look over the menu." I said, watching as the waiter handed Eniar a small, folded paper menu. "So. What do you sell?" asked, hoping I wasn't intruding much. I mean, I brought him on a whim to my favorite desert shop. I don't usually do that.

Einar nodded and followed his new companion down the weaving streets, lead on by the clatter of hooves and the sweet aroma of baked goods. Einar took it as a good sign when the waiter approached them and spoke like he knew Liri, having never seen a bad restaurant have regulars. They were lead to their seats by a large glass window and handed a small menu. The dun stallion started browsing through the list of cakes, doughnuts, and all variety of sweets, stomach hungering more and more with every option. Until finally the other horse spoke up. "This and that." He mused in response, looking up from the paper for only a moment. "Weapons, bracelets, trinkets really just anything I think would be interesting." Einar shrugged, almost sheepishly. He'd only recently opened his shop, and was still trying to find his niche. So for now, he sold what he could, and kept what he couldn't. Or what he liked too much to sell. "What about you? Sell anything special?" The fjord asked, splitting his attention between the conversation and his menu. He was almost decided on his dessert of choice, when he realized there were muffins on the back. Slowly he sighed, realizing there was no way he was getting out of here without having at least 5 different things. [word count 221]

"Oh, about the same. I did sell some veterinary supplies a while back. Interesting people those veterinarians. Most of the stuff I sell I make, only because I have seem to have a knack with jewelry or the sort. Nothing too complicated right now. Just braided stuff." I said, looking out the window. I turned around as the kitchen doors swung open, revealing the waiter I spoke to earlier. He had 2 bowls of gelato, one lemon with sugar soaked in mint water, the other caramel with chocolate shavings on top. Mmm.. My favorite. He sat them in front of me, procuring a spoon from midair, always trying to make me smile. They always did that, those waiters. I smiled, digging into the gelato.
"So," I said, in between bites. "You decided on anything yet?"

"Oh yeah? That's pretty awesome!" He grinned as she told of her wares. "I like to fiddle around with stuff like that sometimes, never sell it though. Never quite good enough." Einar chuckled, looking up from his menu as their waiter approached. The young fjord leaned back and smiled as the horse placed two bowls in front of Liri and handed her a spoon with a certain flair only found in Aodh. "Oh, uh.. just a second." He jumped, Liri's words knocking him back to earth. "I'll have a...." Einar started, taking another quick glance at all the options. "Slice of brownie....Strawberry jelly doughnut... and that lemon, thing." He nodded towards Liri's dish. "Thanks." He nodded as the waiter left them.

I smiled, eating another spoonful of my gelato. "Good choice on the brownie." I said, looking out the window. A shadow flickered in an alley, disappearing as fast as it appeared. I kept watching, wondering if it was a trick of the light. It was getting darker after all, so it could have been just a bird. Or something... I continued to eat, finishing off one of the bowls and moving onto the next. The doors leading into the kitchen banged open, revealing Eniar's food. The brownie was fresh from the oven, still wafting steam from the oven. The doughnut smelled delicious and I grinned at the lemon gelato that he ordered. "You better eat the gelato first, otherwise it will melt."
I put some shards on the table and the waiter picked them up, winking at me. I'm not that attractive. Stop winking at me. Seriously. You do this every time, I thought, smiling back.

"Good idea." Einar smiled, picking up his spoon with the faint telekinesis all horses of Hireath possessed. The fjord took a bite and let it melt in his mouth. "Mmhmmm. That's good stuff." He grinned as his stomach growled, as if in agreement. "How'd you find this place?" He asked his companion, tilting his dun head ever so slightly. "I've been all through this area like a million times and hadn't ever heard of this place." The stallion continued through a mouthful of gelato, waving his spoon around for emphasis. As a foal he and his mother had walked up and down bakers street almost weekly. Sampling this or that, stopping at small bakeries constantly as they made their way to the crucible. As a healer it wasn't uncommon for her to tend pit fighter's wounds. And as a energetic colt he loved that place with a sort of giddy excitement only a child could have. Einar slowly turned back to his food he could hear the front door slowly creak open, which made him suddenly aware that he and Liri were just about the only patrons there. Save for an elderly couple in the back and a frazzled mare with her three foals. [word count 204]

"Oh, this place is fairly new, just cropping up in the last year." I said, finishing my second bowl. Wish I ordered more... "I was recommended here by a friend." I smiled at Eniar. "Now, I guess I'm doing the same, in a way."
The door creaked open, revealing a new patron to the tiny shop. It was a cloaked figure, not unlike the one that ran into Eniar earlier. He went and sat in the corner, next to the rambunctious threesome of foals with their mother. She glared at one of them when they kept staring at the cloaked horse. I snickered, watching as the foal pointedly gave her sass back.
"This shop replaced the old cake bakery. You know the one that made those amazing cakes that were taken to those noble parties?" I could still see the majestic molding in the corners, still the pastel pink and white of the cakery. If you think about it, it's still kind of the old place, just plastered with different colors and serving different things. Just a different cover. I thought, engrossed in my own head. I glanced at the figure again, noticing that they were fidgeting a lot. The figure had ordered water and was sipping from it every few seconds. Wonder what's gotten him so nervous.

Einar thought for a moment, letting the gelato melt in his mouth slowly. "Yeah, I remember the place." He nodded, finally accessing that memory. He hadn't come to the old bakery often, only on special days suitable for such large amounts of cake. Which, at the time, wasn't nearly as often as he would've liked. "Loved their strawberry cakes." The dun smiled, reaching for the small pouch where he kept his crystal shards. "Huh." He frowned, unable to locate his wallet. "That's weird, I could've sworn..." He turned, checking all over his person for his money. "Must've left it at the shop. Would you mind? I'll pay ya back later." He asked nervously, a little embarrassed for asking after already refusing a free meal earlier. The young stallion shook his head in confusion as he finished off his bowl. Carefully scrapping the sides for any remains before pushing it aside. As he did so, his eye caught movement to the side. Einar turned to see a cloaked figure in the corner, wiggling and squirming like he'd sat on a mound of fire ants. "Hey, isn't that the guy from earlier?" The fjord whispered to Liri, leaning in close. Hoping the cloaked figure would've overhear. He hadn't seen the traveler's face before, but his dark satin cape couldn't be replicated. Funny running into him twice in such a short span of time. And somewhat unsettling. Einar thought with a frown, watching the stranger warily from the corner of his eye. Despite the sweet aroma in front of him, something seemed fishy. [word count 260]

"Mmm.. No problem." I said, dishing out the extra shards. It wasn't like I offered or anything. Karma. I glanced again at the stranger, watching him empty his cup. "Actully, I think that is the same one that ran into you... Yep, that is definitely him." I said, looking at his cloak. He turned and I quickly glanced away. Aww crap... I think he saw me. I waited a moment while Eniar frowned into his bowl, then looked again. And found him looking straight at us. Whelp, I have bad luck.
Suddenly, the thief, which I now believe him to be, stood up, slipping off his hood hurriedly and slapping on a mask. It was so unexpected, I blinked, staring. The mask was a.. Wait, seriously? It was a horse mask. Wow. We have a smart one here.
"Everyone stay calm and no one gets hurt!" The thief said, waving around a dagger. Well, that's not going to do anything, I thought, sighing.

The young fjord, along with most of the restaurant, watched in confused shock as the stranger pulled on such a distracting mask and started flailing his dagger around. The exhausted mother let out a sharp squeal as she pulled her foals closer. One of which looked half ready to pounce on the burglar.
The frantic staff, what few there were, tried to calm their patrons and the thief, as a smaller one slipped out through the kitchen. No doubt going to find some sort of Chevalier in case things got any worse.
The robed figure snarled at the workers, waving his weapon again as if proving to himself he was still in charge. He pushed past them, eyeing them carefully as made his way to the front of the store, no doubt searching for where they kept their shards. At least short term. He passed the two's table slowly, turning briefly towards them. Einar held his breath, afraid the might be recognized, and thus end up in more trouble. But the thief went on, either not remembering them, or not getting good visibility from under that ridiculous mask.
The small stallion sighed in relief, as he shot Liri a concerned glance. As if to say Sorry about this, maybe we should've stuck with spiced fries after all.

Honestly, that mask is ridiculous. I thought, glancing at Einar. Of course, he had a concerned look on his face, which come to think of it, looked very creepy on him. I almost giggled at the sight of it except the crazy horse mask wearing, knife wielding stallion was tromping around in front of us. I turned my attention back to the before mentioned thief, just getting a glimpse of him rushing into the back to steal stuff.
“Hurry, let’s get the heck out of here.” I said to Einar, motioning towards the door.

This life can be hard "Are you crazy!?" Einar hissed leaning across the table closer to the mare. His thick eyebrows raised as far as they could go. "That's not some rinky dink knife anybody would have, that- that's an actual weapon. And he seems pretty eager to use it." The fjord muttered, turning a weary gaze towards the criminal, who was now up at the front desk, rummaging through drawers and yelling at frightened staff.
"I mean, if you wanna take him, go ahead! But I got places to be tomorrow other than a healers!" He snorted, in a sarcastic sort of laugh, as his vision continued to shift from Liri to the thief, to Liri, and back again. He was not eager to gain another scar, and hoped staying still and letting the situation work itself out would be faster- and safer- than butting in. | WORDS 142 OOC lol I think I figured this out |

Honesty free of deceit and untruthfulness "Pfftt... If we run fast enough, we could get a Chevilar. I know I can run. Can you?" I said to Einar, inching towards the door. "Also, I don't think he's very experienced with it. I mean, he's just waving it around like it's a flag with a sharp edge." I looked to the fijord, then back at the cloaked figure. He seemed to be preoccupied with looting the register, along with possibly nabbing a couple of cookies.

This life can be hard "Not really..." The dun admitted awkwardly, keeping his eyes on the cloaked figure. I should be at home now, he thought, snug in my bed staring at the stars, not fearing for my life in a small bakery.
Einar could feel his face reddening as he grew more and more irritated. His anger was at first directed to the speckled chestnut in front of him, for bringing him here, until he noticed something very familiar hanging out from the thief's cloak.
As the larger stallion moved, a small leather sack swung just below his dark hem, jangling softly against his round sides. Einar could only see the lower half of the very back, but he could tell in his gut he'd seen it before. He'd bet his life the opposite side had a fanciful E sewn with sky blue string, and lined with costume jewels. That it was his.
Suddenly all that speak of carefulness, of staying still and waiting for it to blow over, meant nothing. His jaw clenched and he stared holes right through that ridiculous get up, and the horse under them as he quietly rose to his feet. "That sick son of a... dung beetle." Einar growled under his breath. | WORDS 204 OOC Thanks! It's very.... pink xD Still not as sweet as yours though |

Honesty free of deceit and untruthfulness I glanced at Einar, noticing that he was glaring at the other stallion. Actually, now that I think about it, I think he may actually attack the overzealous thief. I contemplated for a few seconds, then said,

This life can be hard The dun shook his slightly as he turned to the mare, pulled from his thoughts by her statement. He pursed his lips, eyeing the criminal uneasily. While he was larger than either of them, -and armed, together with the element of surprise, and more than their share of luck, they could probably take him.
Einar turned his gaze back to his new friend, giving her a determined nod and a hint of a grin. Ready to teach the thief some manners.
Slowly, making an effort not to draw attention to themselves just yet, Einar rose and motioned for Liri to follow his lead. Sneaking towards the burglar from behind, eyes locked on the back of the capped form's head as the criminal continued to hunt for every shard he could get his hooves on. | WORDS 134 OOC

Honesty free of deceit and untruthfulness I watched as Eniar got into position, inching behind the thief very slowly as he rummaged through the counters. I smiled, Time for a little distraction, I thought.
"HEY! A**BUTT!" I screamed at the thief, catching his attention. I dashed in front of the counter, sticking my tongue out in front of him. I figured he was frowning because his mask moved downward, probably anchored to his eyebrows. "Yeah, YOU! I bet you can't see the ambush right behind you, stupid!"
His eyes widened when I said that, whipping around to face what could be behind him. I jumped over the short counter, landing just behind him for when he turned to run out the door from Eniar's assult from behind.
Nothing beats a little excitement now and again, right?

This life can be hard As Liri distracted the criminal, Einar shifted his weight to his back legs and flattened his ears. Barring his teeth as he reared back to his full, unimposing size.
Which was still enough to startle the thief when he turned. Mask sloshing amusingly as he did so.
The young fjord stomped his hooves on the warm colored tiles, centimeters from his target's legs as the larger stallion turned to flee. Wanting as little to do with the crazed dun or his speckled accomplice as possible. Honesty free of deceit and untruthfulness The would-be thief scrambled away from Einar, almost running myself over in his haste to leave the two tiny terrors he had been assaulted by. Thankfully, in his haste to leave, he dropped all of the goodies he was hoping to steal. And it all went back to the shop owner, only a couple mistreated muffins hurt in the process.
"Well, I guess we can call that a success." I said, as I handed back the bag to the owner. "I think, I would be glad to call you a friend, Einar."

"Yeah, I think I'd like that." The fjord grinned at his new friend as they returned the stolen merchandise to the thankful staff.
As he turned towards the door - preparing to head home before anymore insanity could occur - Liri stopped him. "I couldn't help but snag it on his way out. I mean, he was just all over me." She explained, holding his purse in her teeth.
