Belly of the Beast A roleplay between Jamais Vu and Shiro
Shiro | Echo
She decided, eventually, that she blamed the gigantic, horrifying skylight for her predicament. It wasn't natural, seeing so much- so much sun, and air, and- sun."Yes, I'm officially moving back home," Shiro muttered to herself, the irritation in her voice not fully masking the undertone of unease. "Dad was right, Nariah is the far superior city," Shiro continued, fighting off the prickle of unease as her own voice and hoofbeats bounced back to her, thin and eerie against the cave walls. She halted, if only to put an end to the echoes of her own hoof beats. "Why didn't Osamu give me a map," Shiro asked the tunnel passage, mainly because it was unable to remind her that Osamu had offered her a map, forced it upon her in fact, and she had forgotten it, having never used one before. All those lines, it was confusing! She sighed heavily, peering up and down the tunnel, her eyes reflecting the muted glow of the gem stones. A normally beautiful, comforting sight... unless you happened to be lost. "But I'm not lost," Shiro said, her own voice falling flat and unconvincing. "I'm just..."She trailed off, swallowing hard. If only she had a Blessing from Argus, some essential part of Him that would help guide her- but no, she had not yet proven herself worthy of that, of Him. Which was why she had packed up and moved to Sterling, to prove herself as an artist, as a Breimian. "Argus, may You rule my heart, guide my hooves, and clear my mind," Shiro whispered into the darkness, calming herself marginally with the prayer. The god of Arcane watched over them all; His will would see her home safely. Or... no, best not to finish such a thought. Shiro squared her withers, and the movement rustled the packs she had slung over her back, supplies bought for herself and Osamu as well. Something fell out with a soft chink, and rolled away. "Sparks and dust," Shiro swore, and scrambled after it, making an unholy ruckus and for the moment at least, quite forgetting her predicament. WC 365

Jamais Vu The Guard of Briem
A mare had perked his interest a few moons passing ago. So much so, he had watched her from the shadows. Learned little to nothing about her, yet her learned her name and that was power enough. Shiro. The name was soft in his though, soft and untouched. Still too pure for the worlds to come. Oh what really dwells within the caves of Briem. Vu was a firm believer on living in caves did nothing for the horses. How the lack of natural light had slowly killed the light in many. So much so Vu knew, inside him was nothing, but black. Like a black hole, he took everything and destroyed it. Destroyed it without a second thought or pause. He was vile a monster, and many would pray to find other creatures in the tunnels then himself. Yet here alone in the tunnels, it was as if Igancio himself blessed him once more with this vision before him. Shiro.
As for why he was out here? Well he was interested in finding new locations for his pleasures, far away from the ears of others. So far in the dark that no one would know the difference from up to down. Let black swallow them whole. Though as he was about step out from a tunnel, she passed his view. Shiro. He wanted to whisper her name, to let it purr out his mouth. A part of him craved for her to say his name. To watch it slip from her pale lips. Yet he remained silent, watching her pass by like pale moonlight. Oh she was beauty, a bit soft in the head, but surely it would be so much easier to crack then? Ears perked forwards catching murmurs of her words. Lost. But she was found. Found by he, himself. A far cunning grin slipping on his lips. How easy would it be to take her, here and now? But honestly where was the fun in that. No, he had to get to know her, build her trust let her believe he was a friend, then he would ruin it all. But for now, time to play the ever so diligent role of help stallion.
"You doing alright Miss?" he called out as he trotted out from the tunnel eyeing her curiously. "Don't see many equine passing through here." he remarked offering a warm smile. Oh yes, he could play this role so well. Helpful guard, a treasure of Briem. He dipped his head respectfully to her, showing her no harm and not taking a step towards her in hopes to not frighten her. "Im Jamais, a guard." he remarked lifting his head that soft smile still lingering on his face. "Im heading to Sterling, how about yourself?" he asked curiously. He tried his best to not call her out on being lost, he had noticed many mares at times did not like to be told of their embarrassment so he had hoped he had saved Shiro's from hers. His eyes looked to her, he felt the familiar twinge in his muscles that desire to move forwards to touch, to charm, to..... harm.

Shiro | Echo
Intent on her lost object, Shiro had scrambled past the tunnel that concealed Jamais without noticing... either of them, tunnel OR stallion. It wasn't that she was normally so unobservant- despite a what amounted to more than a few less than desirable traits, a lack of observation wasn't usually one of them. She was an artist; she loved taking in the beautiful world around her, even if she was quickly becoming less enamored of the Sterling labyrinth. But the thought of losing any of Osamu's possessions- or worse, one of her own- took all of her concentration.
Thus it was that, her muzzle hovering inches from the cavern floor, Shiro felt the vibrations of hooves a half heartbeat before a voice shattered her awareness. Ever the proper, demure mare of an Old Gen upbringing, Shiro's response to this was textbook: she let loose a screech not unlike that of a particularly hoarse devil bird, bumping her head on a protruding rock shelf as she spun to face Jamais Vu.
"Oh! I- Oh!" She managed breathlessly, fighting the urge to take a quick step away from him while her heart rabbited frantically in the general region of her throat. It wasn’t that she was normally a jumpy mare, or one afraid of strangers; but to have thought herself quite alone, only to have that illusion so dramatically shattered, well. And by such a tall stallion, too. Shiro was suddenly aware of her many stray, fly-away hairs, the dust in her tail. She was so flustered by this that she almost missed the next words from the stallion- Jamais Vu- but refocused on him with an effort.
Relief swept through her, so powerful she almost sagged (almost, but did not) and she offered Jamais a bright smile. A guard, she was saved. And by the Arcane above neither Osamu nor her parents would hear of this… predicament. Which was no longer a predicament, thanks to this courteous, helpful guard.
“I’m headed to Sterling as well,” she said, her normal cheerfulness reasserting itself and the missing bauble quite forgotten. “I just moved here from Nariah, and I got turned around. I think. I study under the Maker Osamu and lodge with him. Oh, I’m Shiro,” she added, with a flick of her curling tail.

Jamais Vu The Guard of Briem
'Oh my she is indeed perfect.' Vu thought selfishly to himself as he watched her speak. A part of him enjoyed the way she seemed to cheerful in her manner, but yet at their first contact she almost wanted to move awya from him It made him so eager to chase. To try and make her flee from him. There was beauty in the chase, how the heartbeats raced with adrenaline, one with fear, one with desire. It was sickeningly beautiful and yet the more he was in her presence he felt that need, that desire for something he had put off for a while. He wanted to hurt her, to love her, to break her, shatter her. He wanted to build her up and shatter everything around her, including her. But this was all a game, and it seemed a new pawn had fell perfectly into his hoof.
He dipped his head respectfully to her, keeping along with his charming manners. "Well Shiro, I consider myself lucky to be on this path and find you." he remarked dipping his head to her. "Come along, I'll get you back safely." He nudged her gently, resisting the need to nip the flesh, yet he head to make sure he was nothing but a perfect gentleman to her. To keep the caged beast in him locked away, at least for now. It had been a bit since he let the beast feed. "Oh so you work with Osamu, that must be interesting. I believe he creates Kintsugi." he remarked with a nod. "How are you enjoying it all so far?" he asked her as she was freshly moved out here, which means he'd have to move quickly with her, to let it be known she was quick to get lost. So when there is a time she is not around, they would believe she would be lost, they'd search the caves and everywhere, but like many mares and stallions before her, they would not find his dwelling deep within the caves.
He awaited for her to reply as he moved forwards to get them going towards the right direction, still ahead he could make it and show her out back onto the path she needed to be on... Or he could head back down to his own dwelling. Proclaim a shortcut to get them back on track. Be ahead of the schedule, he would proclaim. It wouldn't be hard to get her lost and confused on where they would be going, but trusting a stranger? Not many would be so eager, but it could mean a new way of doing things. That perked his interest, he still had a few moments of moving to decide and there in his mind, he played out the game trying to decide what was best for him, to continue on with his own greed.
