He had been traveling for nearly a week now.. Maybe longer, maybe shorter- the large roan stallion had long since lost track of the days that had labored on past. His hooves and knees ached like they never had before, reminding him that he was a horse build for power and battle, not for stamina nor speed. Since he had passed the Farmlands of Onea, the temperature had risen a great deal as well. He was used to the constant, frigid temperatures of his herd. He was used to snow constantly under hoof. He was used to biting winds and frozen ears. But now that the mountains were long since behind him, the air was now muggy and heavy. The sun wore on his back with a weight that tried to slow him down. Bugs he had never seen before tried to cling to his thick coat. It was infuriating. How other equine lived in such a down place, he would never understand.
So far, the journey had been easy. The War Lord's Road had been generally clear and easy-going. He only had to chase off a few wolves once, but they probably only got close enough to him because they were desperate... the poor skinny bastards. Night times were hard for him. The new area and the nagging thoughts of all the possibilities as to why his mother had not returned home kept him awake for hours. He was running on fumes, his stress level rising as his energy dropped. She could be dead.. or even worse.. captured as a slave.. the thoughts rang in his mind as he took step after step, studded horseshoes digging into the soft dirt of the road. The cat eye gems on the tip of his shoes gleamed in the sunlight, bringing a smile to his face when it caught his eye. His mother had always loved those gems, and would tell him that they were his "spirit gems" as she liked to call it. When he asked her why, she'd always tell him, "they are a cast of your eyes, son." with a smile that would remain burned in his memory forever.
He now stood at the end of the War Lord's Road, tired eyes glancing at the forest a few miles across the bored between Onea and Eithne. With a snort, the stallion lowered his head and shook it with all his might, his ears flopping back in forth in a strong effort to get rid of the insects that tried to make his fluffy ears their home. Much to Muiris' dismay, the stubborn bugs werent going anywhere. It was now that the stallion was allowing to deem himself lost. Once he got off the Road, he had no idea where he was going. He knew Valore was in a south-west-ish location from where he currently was, but other than that, he was screwed. He cursed himself many times for not taking a scout with him, but he didnt want to get anyone tied in with his personal affairs. They had better things to do than follow an over-grown colt around while he cried for his probably dead mother. The stallion's brows knitted at the thought, his teeth gritting together. Maybe this was a bad idea, but it was too late now. There was no turning back.
With a deep sigh, his hoof stepped over the line. Out of Onea, into Eithne. He was now at the mercy of the fire herd.

Seeker knew where she was in that seen it all sort of way. The lone wanderer had a way about her that if she just figured that heading in a direction would lead her to her destination. Well, it also helped she generally did not have a destination set usually but still! Seeker knew her way or if she did not she knew more soundly than she should that she would find it eventually. Especially now, after spending the night in the cold winter running for her life from those who meant to spill her blood. Still that thought made the mare shiver at times, regardless of the outside temperature.
Twitching an ear to rid the thought like a nasty bug she rolled off her side that she had previously been laying upon and onto her stomach. Wonder lusted as she was the mare never skimped on sleep or even minor rests. Unchained from herds as she was anymore, Seeker felt no qualms about sleeping mid day or racing through the woods at midnight. Clicking her tongue as she blinked away the nap she had been taking off the last road she had traveled she assessed. She was hungry, she could fix that. Thirsty? Not yet. Suddenly her eyes opened fully as she watched a form pass. She had learned to use her dull coat well and he had simply passed her. He seemed preoccupied in a way and may not have noticed her if she were pink! Smiling she gently raised herself and watched as he struggled with something inner and finally took a step like his hooves were coated with tree sap. Rolling her eyes in a gesture conveying the exasperated meaning of "Herd Horses" she canter slowly behind him. Keening off to one of his flanks so that if his reaction to the surprise she would spring would lead to a kick she closed in, matching his step for hers so her hoof falls would be quiet she said in her notable crisp, bell like voice.
"Lost are we?"

The stallion had not noticed she was there. He walked right past her, didnt hear her rise, and didnt even notice that she had snuck up behind him and even started walking along with him. His mind was too busy, his hooves too heavy, his focus not present. Well, that was until she spoke up. The roan nearly jumped out of his skin, a yelp in surprise leaving his throat as a sudden reality check crashed against him. Some Raider he was, not even paying attention to his own surroundings. Once he refound his aching hooves beneath him, he stared wide-eyed at the smaller appaloosa mare before him. His eyes were immediately drawn to the slashing scar across her throat, though he pulled his gaze away as to not seem like he was staring. A vagabond, no doubt. He would have to tread lightly. Hardly were they ever to be trusted.
A silence too long passed while the stallion assessed and processed his situation. Slowly, he ushered a nod, taking a deep breath and exhaling from broad nostrils. "A bit." He replied, a little hesitant. It was true, in a way. He knew he was headed in the right direction, but who knew if he would even end up in the right place by the end of this whole trip. He was already tired enough; maybe this mare wasnt even real. A figment of his delusional, sleep-deprived mind. "Im of War-Forged, trying to get to Valore." He said, his nerves now calmer and posture more relaxed. "I havent been for several years, so i dont remember the path very well." He added sheepishly. Surely, a War-Forged should know the way to their allied city.
He paused for another brief moment, narrowing his eyes at the spotted mare before giving himself his own nod of approval. She seemed real enough- defiantly not his mind playing games. It was then when he offered a smile. A tired, worn out smile, but a smile none the less. "Name's Muiris, who are you?" The stress was evident in the stallion's eyes, an internal conflict still brewing, but he kept his voice calm and his tone soft; a special skill he had acquired from his trainer to become a Raider. No matter how much he was in turmoil mentally, he always came across as calm and collected.

As with everyone this stallions eyes drew to her deep scar and then back to her. Atleast he had not looked for long, some did. Rolling her shoulders in an awkward gesture as a period of time without words stretched. Staring at him intently she knew this act. She was a vagabond, and unknown quantity and she was not to be assumed safe. Seeker didn't blame the herd animals either for she herself had crossed paths with the darker lose ends of the world. A quiver shook her flanks as she thought of that night yet again. Exasperated with herself she mentally chided her weak emotions to get over that short time of her life, there was so much more to see and do without that damn shadow hanging over her every thought.
Finally he spoke and he sounded absolutely worn. The bleeding heart as she was she felt bad but an eyebrow raised when he commented where he was heading. Though inter-herd travelers were not rare, especially between allies, but clearly he was no merchant who would know where to navigate and unguided. Strange. As he talked a bit more she turned her head to watch him slightly, her golden hair spilling away from her face. He, oh, Muiris he spoke his name, seemed so drained. Glancing back at the road which was still visible through the trees she smiled.
"I'm Seeker. Vagabond, but you knew that already"
Smiling at him she quartered herself away slightly to glance in the direction he would need to go now. Then she tried to peak up at the canopy of tree branches to gauge the time of day. It was progressing well enough but he was a herd horse so he surely would not want to sleep until nightfall. Already her gentle mind had decided to help him as much as she could. A small dark shadow in the back of her mind formed at the thought of returning to Valore, where her once Owner was, but it was still a land mass of distance away. No need to worry now, at least.
"Well then. Nice to meet you Muiris, I can help you get to where you're going"
A few twitches of the ear to acknowledge a blood sucker who was buzzing there and she turned a bit more but looked back to her new companion and smiled a full watt Seeker smiled. Bright, multicolored eyes shining in the dappled sun.
"I have nothing better to do anyway! What takes you to Aodh?"

Her smile brought a half-hearted one to his own lips, though it did not reach his eyes. His amber eyes stayed quiet, almost dead. "Nice to meet you too, Seeker." He mumbled through dry lips. His last encounter with Vagabonds had left his cheeks torn up on both sides and a higher mistrust for them- but this one seemed to be nicer. His eyes lit up when she offered to help him, a new-found energy coursing through his veins. "You know where Valore is?" He asked excitedly, his tail swishing as a bug tried to make a feast out of his leg. Damn, he wanted the snowy mountains of Onea back. Sore hooves started plodding in the direction he thought they had to go. He didnt mind the idle chat, but he would like to get there as soon as possible.. walk and talk.
Glancing down at the smaller mare, his lips pressed together and ears swiveled to the side. Just thinking about it sent a pain to his heart. "My mother has been missing for many years now." He replied quietly, hoping his voice didnt waver in the process. He had gone for so long without her presence; why it suddenly hurt now, he wasnt sure. Because now you know she could be dead. He shook his head, trying to get rid of the nasty thoughts.
"I have reason to believe she may be in Valore. She used to travel there frequently for her work, so she knows the way quite well." He added, mentally counting the steps he was taking to keep himself going. So tired. Keep talking. "She had some trouble at home, so im assuming she would have left to stay at a friend's in Aodh. Onea was not safe for her." His brow knitted together at the thought of her second husband, and how Muiris wished to kill him himself for all the terrible things he had done to his beloved mother. How someone could be so awful to someone so kind and patient- A pain shot though his jaw, causing the roan stallion to pry his mouth open and stretch it. He hadnt even noticed he had been clenching his teeth.
His eyes drifted back down to her, his expression relaxing. He didnt want to dump all this personal information on a random stranger all at once- that was weird, right? "Do you go to Aodh often?" He asked curiously. He found it a little odd that a Vagabond was willing to help him get to the very place they normally tried to avoid. He appreciated it, though, none the less.
