Shadow - Gentry - Post One
It was late morning by the time that the white horse roused himself from sleep. Of course, he'd been out late last night, another performance in Valore to pay for his bread. But still, he felt like a sack of lazy bones as he scrambled to his hooves, shaking in such a manner that his orange and black mane and tail shook violently. Yawning, Shadow stumbled over to his wash basin, and dunked his face in the water, using his teke to wash himself. Once cleaned up, and having brushed his mane and tail out as best he could, the stallion grabbed his shard pouch, and exited his house. He was going to treat himself today, darn it. He deserved it, after the hours of tireless work he put into his career.
So he headed for the spa that had gathered a large name for itself - Ignacio's Touch. It wasn't hard to find. Upon arrival, the white horse pushed his way into the spa, staring around at the glitz that was common among Aodhians. As he waited to be seen, he let his yellow eyes search the floor. Something caught his eye, and the creature cocked his head slightly, curious. A kirin worked here. Of course, he should have known that not all kirins had joined in the Heralds' cause, but it still sent a shiver of delicious curiosity and fear running through his spine. As a creature who liked adventure, this was interesting to Shadow. But alas, he had to turn his attention to the receptionist-mare, who was waiting for him.

Caron "Now the Fire and Wind guide me to Freedom."
Post 1| WC 276 Caron sighed, adjusting the collar of their shirt - It was nice, certainly. And not restrictive, but they still felt out of place there in the spa. It was… strange. To be in public eye, and easy to find and follow. They were on edge, as they looked around, barely comforted by the weight of Chiya on their back. Amund tucked at their side did also help somewhat, though… they could not help all of the sparks that skittered around their hooves.
A thought caused Caron to chuckle in amusement. These sparks used to be their show of rebellion, for emphasis when needed - when they were all they could get past the blessing-blocking bridles of slaves.
...The brand beneath their scales ached for a moment, causing them to shake their head with a sigh, glancing around. Taking note of a horse staring at them - Not uncommon, but… The sight of a pale coat staring at them did give Caron a moments pause.
Chiya chirped, nuzzling Caron's ear to bring them back to present. Shiya was dead. And there was no point in… hoping, longing.
...They murmured a quiet prayer to Alya, hoping the winds that had saved Shiya before, would find her a home where she'd be loved, and resumed their roving to do their job there - Making sure things were safe and enjoyable for people on both sides of the bathing halls.
The receptionist smiled at Shadow, and would gladly get his time at the spa paid for and to giving him directions to the services he'd paid for - The bathing areas on the first floor, and the masseuse in a private room on the third.

It seemed as though the stranger, the Kirin, had noticed Shadow as well. The white horse dipped his head, the ghost of a smile crossing his face before he turned back to the receptionist. He thanked the horse at the counter for their help, and turned his attention to where he needed to go. Of course, he wasn't stupid, so he could have found his own way rather easily, but he needed an excuse. So he traipsed over to where the security guard was standing, with their familiar by their side. Dipping his head in greeting, as was Aodhian custom, Shadow smiled softly at the stranger before him.
"Hey there," the singer said, his voice smooth and buttery as it was when he performed. "I just...ah...was wondering if you knew the way to the baths? I seem to have forgotten already," he offered with a small chuckle. And to be fair, he hadn't really been paying attention to what the receptionist had said, because he was sneaking glances this way. "If you could show me, I'd be ever grateful."

Caron "Now the Fire and Wind guide me to Freedom."
Post 2 | WC 319 The white horse came over to them - An unusual act, certainly - Most simply ignored Caron as they did their rounds. A shadow in the periphery. So they couldn't help but pause when the white horse spoke to them - By Ignacio, they had to get used to others treating them like… they existed.
"Hello…" Caron greeted Shadow in return, tilting their head slightly. The sugar-sweet tone of respect and willingness to help. Chiya chimed as the white stallion asked to be shown to the baths - Which admittedly had Caron a bit confused, as they were just… there, but they hummed with a slight smile. "Of course I can show you. I was headed there myself as part of my rounds."
They were too polite - But how could they not be? Caron was still ever so nervous to be in the spotlight. In public. Some sparks rattled off their coat. "The baths are over this way." They gave a smile, as they headed behind the staircase to the archway that opened up to the mineral pools.
Training always came in to cover social interactions. And a deep breath to bring the sparks back in - Though, they knew that these little sparks couldn't hurt anyone. Caron didn't want to hurt anyone in an accident.
Chiya chirped, preening Caron's mane as she sat on their back, causing the black Kirin to chuckle a bit. She was certainly trying to help them stay calm, and Caron greatly appreciated that from the phoenix - Oh, how they wished Shiya could have met her. Shiya would have -
Caron stopped at the archway, shaking their head. This wasn't the time for memories. They had been coming more and more the less they had to think less on just surviving. They needed to focus on… something. Perhaps after the white horse had gone past they'd head to the slaves slide to see if any would be looking to leave.

Shadow wondered about the stranger, as he followed them towards the baths. Surely, it was odd to see a Kirin, especially with all the...hubbub going on. But not all of them were bad, right? Of course, he'd never seen Caron before, so had no idea that the horse had been transformed by...something. Ignacio perhaps? Or wild magic? Whatever it was, Shadow knew nothing of Caron's history, their before. Nor did he know anything about Chiya, who was striking in her plumage, and distracting him from watching where his hooves were going. He was lucky not to trip.
But as they reached the baths, something seemed to take over Caron, which gave Shadow pause. The singer frowned. "You've got something on your mind," he said, simple and frank. "And probably nobody to talk to here, hm? If...you can get away from your post for a moment...I would be a listening ear, if you need one." His tone was soft, and a small smile of reassurance followed the words.
He had no idea that Caron had lost love, had been through so much. But then again, the life of a smuggler was never easy, was it? Caron had been through enough tragedy. Though, Shadow knew nothing of it, just that something was wrong. And sure, part of it might have been morbid curiosity. But he did genuinely seem to care, at least partially.
