A L Y X X The Asylon tavern was crowded, but not so much so that the grayish champagne stallion felt out of place. Above him, the rafters creaked as horses who made their home above the tavern scurried off to bed. It was getting late, but Opal was with Zale, as was a mare that Alyxx bad hired to watch the boy when he needed some time away from home. In the dim light, his jewelry, what he'd rescued from the waters and what he'd made since then, or bought from other Settlers, gleamed dully. It wasn't quite as noticeable as a Slave brand, but it did make him seem distinctly Aodhian.
His choice of drink, wine, also made it clear his origins. And the way he held himself, proud despite the horrible pain of losing Keahi, showed that he was of esteemed birth. He wasn't exactly an easy target for thieving, seeing as he kept his eyes pert and watchful over the bar around him, but he seemed approachable enough. In the gathering darkness, Alyxx sighed. Keeping up with a newborn, and a newly hatched dragon was no easy task. His gaze was weary despite how tense his body remained.
With a shift of his weight, the stallion produced a couple of shards and plunked them on the bar. He never left a tab running; always pay your debts, that's what Chairi had taught him. Chairi. His beloved father, who had always been so kind, unlike his other father, so stoic and somehow narcissistic on the same coin. But he missed them both terribly. He wondered if they'd had a spare, if his sister had taken or abdicated the role of Heir. He wondered if they missed them.
Tears welled in his eyes. He was alone here, with only his son and familiars to keep him company. Keahi was...Ignacio knew where! If he was even still...alive. Alyxx gulped at his wine, hoping it would ease the sting. It did not. Why had he come here? Stupid, stupid Alyxx. What had he done to deserve this pain? Other than abandon his beloved home and his family to run away with the probably deceased love of his life. What a way to live. Digend above, this was difficult! He huffed, anger replacing his melancholy. And called for more to drink. He would dull this ache, if it took all night and all his liver.

Aedeldric Vagabond - Asylon Settler "Tears don't suit you, sweetheart." As an ex-Aodhian, Aedeldric was easily picked out of the crowd by the pearls and gemstones he adored wearing. Vain, absolutely. Narcissistic, sure. But what he wasn't, was cruel. Aedeldric was still new to Asylon, still figuring his life out. Part of him missed Aodh, but it wasn't Aodh itself that he missed. He missed the atmosphere. The parties, the wine, the...attractions. Little Asylon seemed so boring in comparison, but he knew that he had come here for Her, and he was willing to deal with it for the changes he was sure to come. Not to mention his brothel wasn't really set up yet, and that would surely change things around here. It had to be perfect, of course, because Aedeldric himself was perfection. He had come to the tavern to get away for the night, to have some good wine and take in Asylon's atmosphere. Strawberry decided to stay home and get some rest, a request Aed insisted was one she was free to make; he didn't own her anymore. He even convinced himself he never really felt like he owned her anyway. It definitely wasn't because he felt guilty about it....definitely not.As he said off in a corner alone, enjoying watching others and sampling the numerous kinds of wine the tavern had at it's disposal, he noted the horses that were lingering. Most had gone home, all smiles, some quite drunk. There were others who dispersed within the building itself, clearly staying the night. But there were a few who seemed out of sorts, their minds elsewhere. One particular individual was alone at the bar, looking a little worse for wear. Normally, if he were still in Aodh, Aedeldric would have simply left without a word, choosing to go back home to his business. But this wasn't Aodh.Instead, with the last bit of his wine downed and the glass settled neatly in the middle of his table, the stallion rose and strode with purpose to the champagne stallion. Easily falling into his usual role of a courtesan, he spoke aloud, but gently and with a flirtatious tinge to his velvety voice. He knew that he couldn't completely take away someone's pain, but he knew he had the ability to ease it just a little bit and give that horse some confidence that they might be lacking. Even if they seemed sad and angry like this stallion did."Tears don't suit you, sweetheart." He had said, a gentle smile curling his pale lips. The silence that followed was invitation for the unknown, tearful stallion to tell him to go away or...maybe, to open up. |

A L Y X X Alyxx looked up, blinking the blur of tears away from his eyes. The gemstones, the pearls, those caught his attention immediately. Another ex-Aodhian. Ah, what did it mean that the two of them had ended up here? Were they both missing home. With a soft sigh, the stallion looked over at his new companion, taking in the details with a clearer gaze than before.
“I suppose tears don’t suit many,” he said, smirking slightly at his own half-attempt at a joke. But what could he say, other than to make a fleeting, flippant comment? His beloved was gone, probably dead, leaving him to raise their son alone. If not for the Wyvern who had made her home with him, and the Aodhian Furia that was a part of his life, he’d spend every moment worrying over Zale.
“But should I spin you my tale of woe, so that you can understand why I cry, or should I save it for another day, perhaps a rainier one,” Alyxx mused, cocking his head to the side. He’d slipped into his formal, Noble voice, without even realizing he’d done it.
“I’m Alyxx...formerly of House Raiyne, currently of House...Asylon,” he said, giving his companion a slight smile. And you?”

Aedeldric Vagabond - Asylon Settler No, tear's don't suit many at all, Aedeldric thought to himself as he looked over the champagne horse. The stallion wasn't a stranger to tears as living in Aodh wasn't easy for many. But he had grown to ignore them over time, ignore even the ones that slipped down his face. Fight through the pain, persevere and conquer. Rise like a phoenix from the ashes.
Wasn't that what he was already in the process of doing? Rising from the ashes of his former life? Phoenixes seemed a much better metaphor than a moth. But moths were subtle. Digend was subtle. Digend and Her city of Asylon was about change, and so too would he. His eyes were opened, and tears were the perfect opportunity to insert himself into the lives of those who may have lived here for far longer, who were more accustomed to this change. And it was an opportunity to show some compassion as he knows he would have wanted the same if he were in the same position.
Aed stayed silent until he found a good opening, which happened to be after this Alyxx announced he was an eminent. Was an eminent. House Raiyne. Aedeldric couldn't recall if he had ever met anyone from the house. Despite how high class his parents courtesan business was, they hadn't reached the extreme popularity of eminent households yet. And Aedeldric's own business was still a fledgling even when he left.
"Greeting to you Alyxx." He left off 'of House Raiyne in the event that was the reason for the stallions weeping. "I'm Aedeldric. No former titles unfortunately, though if you have ever heard of Blush, that was my business back in Aodh." He continued smiling gently, his eyes lidded with a softness that betrayed his original profession. "I won't pry your story from your lips if you are not up to speaking on it. That would be cruel. Should you decide to tell me, I can at least offer you a shoulder to cry on. I am unsure I can offer more than that, advice isn't exactly my forte...unless you want something more." He didn't bother to hide the insinuations in his voice, though kept his tone genuine; he wasn't a predator. He knew the therapeutic effects of a good time, and it was the least he could offer. |

A L Y X X Alyxx couldn’t help but let out a small laugh. “Once upon a time, I would have accepted your offer, seeing as you’re easy enough on the eyes and mind,” he told Aed with a small smirk. “But alas, my troubles are related to why I must turn down your generous offer,” he stated, swishing his tail slightly as he spoke.
“See, the reason I left my home...my family….was that I fell in love. I met a stallion named Keahi, a commoner. And knowing that my family would never dare to see him exalted - a mere courtesan, if you’ll pardon the expression - I decided I would rather live my life out with him, in freedom where we could be happy. We were to have a child, as well. But...along the way, we hit a storm. Our ship went down. I...I lost sight of him in the flooding wreckage. He disappeared...and I had to make it here, bear my son alone.”
“I still have hope that he will return someday, but...until Lady Digend deems to bring him back to me, I pray that she and Ignacio keep him safe...wherever he may be,” Alyxx said, his expression misty as he thought of his missing love. To speak of it brought fresh, raw pain to the wound...but it was worth it, to share his tale with someone, so that the burden needn’t be his alone.

Aedeldric Vagabond - Asylon Settler Aedeldric offered the stallion a smile and a small dip of his head; he respected any and all whether they accepted or declined his offers. At the very least he could offer an ear. When the champagne stallion started up with his story, the unicorn remained silent and listened with full attention. He was no therapist. He honestly couldn't care less for other horses problems most of the time unless it had something to do with Strawberry, but listening was also part of his job. Making his client comfortable, even if it never ended up with them between the sheets, was his top priority.
The name Keahi was familiar even before Alyxx pronounced his beloved to be a courtesan. Courtesan names always filtered through the circles, though a name was all Aed knew about the other. At the mention of a storm and subsequent shipwreck, the unicorn couldn't keep the concern from his eyes. But he waited patiently until the end of the story - one he knew was rather tragic as it was the loss of a father just before the birth of his child - until he finally spoke.
"I am truly sorry to hear what happened to you, sweetheart." Long ears flicked back to show his sincerity. "I admit I am still new here and I am on my way to getting to know and love Lady Digend myself... But I truly believe that if anyone will bring him back to you, it will be Her." Digend was the Goddess of Change, he knew. Change could even be death. But she was also Luck. Perhaps Keahi survived the wreck due to the luck of their Goddess. It would take time, a long time even, for Keahi to return home, but Aed had to believe in their Goddess. At the moment it wasn't just for himself, but to this new acquaintance.
"Stay strong, sugar." Aedeldric cooed, "Your son needs you now more than ever. I know we just met, but if I could offer my hoof to you I shall." He tilted his head, looking the stallion over once more. "Tears really don't suit you, sweetheart. Perhaps it is Digends will I am here tonight, to help a fellow from a previous home." |

Alyxx listened to Aed with a small smile crossing his lips from time to time. It was kind of the stranger to be so...stalwart, so friendly. Perhaps the Chaos God had brought them together? A friend would be something that Alyxx could make great use of. At the mention of Zale, his heart squeezed painfully. Gods above, how he wished that the colt had both his parents to love and cherish him. But he would keep the boy safe until Keahi returned home. For he WOULD return; Alyxx couldn't allow himself to think of anything less than the happy reunion that would someday happen.
"I appreciate your kind words," he whispered, nodding to Aed again. "And I think you speak true," he added with a soft smile. "Thank you for your time and consideration for my plight," he added with a soft chuckle. "But it seems that I've been carrying my woes, putting them on your back, more than you've been sharing about yourself. You must have been excellent at your trade back in Aodh to get me to talk about myself so much," he said, smirking slightly.
"And thank you...for letting me express this...worry, the pain. It's been a lot, and finding new friends has always proven difficult for me. So...really...it means very much to me."

Aedeldric Vagabond - Asylon Settler It was Aed's nature to be friendly to his clients else he would be completely out of a job. But he was never typically open towards others before, except for those who were already a part of his circle. But he also surmised it had something to do with Alyxx's previous status as a noble. It was law in Aodh to respect the nobility, perhaps knowing the champagne stallion was once titled was enough inclination to show respect.
Or perhaps this was also Digends will, for Aed to change into a more kind and less selfish stallion? When he had left Aodh, he freed his two slaves of his own accord. One had gone off to have an adventure of his own whereas Strawberry stayed with him. He never told anyone about their relationship for fear of admonishment, he was aware of how Vagabonds viewed slavery, of which Asylon was the home of the most. He wasn't sure how many Asylon residents had come from different herds.
The compliments were not unnoticed, and perhaps at one time he might have basked fully within them and vocally agreed. But where Aed had left his life behind and was certain his family would be fine, Alyxx was alone with a child in a new place, clearly uncertain about his future. The worry for his mate, Keahi, was enough to disrupt any sort of peace, that much Aed could completely understand.
"Worry not. I have already made peace with my decision to leave Aodh and to come here." It wasn't completely true. He still missed his old home, his family. And he did worry about the Kirin's who were bearing down on the great city of Valore. But he was confident Aodh would beat the scaled menace back, so he didn't dwell on such things. He couldn't. "But you are very welcome, sweetheart. I can't imagine sitting there thinking about something like that without anyone to talk to. It's not healthy." The unicorn stated pointedly, "But neither is drowning your sorrows in wine." A smile crossed his lips again.
"How about this, whenever you're feeling down, you need someone to listen and talk to you, don't come here. Well...I can't say 'don't come here', that is entirely your prerogative and I don't want to step on any hooves here, but I mean you have another option that won't lead to drunkenness." The stallion tossed his head, shifting his wavy mane, "My friend Strawberry and I live in what we lovingly refer to the pink house. We decorated it with pink everything, which goes really nicely with the pearlescent structure if I do say so myself! Flowers that we are learning to grow together, feathers that she herself molted, fabrics from Aodh that we brought along. Eventually a sign will be put up. It will be my new Blush." |

Alyxx couldn't help but offer up a weak smile to his companion. Aed was kinder than he could have first imagined, from looking at the creature. Easy enough on the eyes, either way, but that didn't interest Alyxx at this particular juncture in his life. Maybe if they'd met years ago, before Keahi, but that was beside the point. At the mention of the pink house, he couldn't help a small snort of laughter. It seemed...strange to think that the Courtesan...or ex-courtesan as it was...would be so ambitious, but he figured that to each their own would apply here. So he simply nodded.
"I wish you well on your ventures," Alyxx said, smiling softly. "And if I'm ever in need, I'll seek you out. But for now, I should return to my home," he said, sighing heavily. "A newborn is not a responsibility I can shirk for long," he said with a small, low chuckle in the back of his throat. "Thank you for letting me spin my tale of woe," he told the other, dipping his head respectfully. A Noble he might have once been, but he was no longer, and they were equals here.

Aedeldric Vagabond - Asylon Settler The smile was enough of an inclination to know that he had at least kept Alyxx from continuing to drown himself in sorrow and alcohol. And it wouldn't be surprising if the stallion continued to do so. To lose a loved one so tragically...even one such as he could feel the pain of sadness from that reality. It stirred his own insecurities knowing his parents were still in Aodh with the Kirin threat still looming over the herd. Aed wanted change, yes, but he didn't want his previous herd to suffer for it.
"I wholeheartedly welcome your wishes, friend. Thank you." Aed returned the gesture, dipping his own head. "Your foal will appreciate everything you are doing for them, especially when your Keahi returns home. That I hope for you and yours." The unicorn stallion tossed his head gently, jerking a stray lock of hair back in place. "It is natural for me to listen, of course. Shame I can do little else, but I know how strong an ear and a shoulder can be." He nodded his head a little. "You're always welcome at Blush, sweetheart. Now off you go to your little one." A smile crossed his muzzle once more. "And I hope I meet you both again soon." |

Alyxx nodded his head, both in thanks and in goodbye. He didn't want to leave, but he knew that he must be getting back to Zale. The poor child would need some sort of...something to comfort him for his father's absence. Especially with Keahi missing. The child tended to get a bit...nervous about things, and Alyxx wanted to make sure he was there as much as possible. So he smiled, and spoke again. "As much as Blush is a lovely business, I'll only be popping in to say hello as a friend," he said with a slight chuckle. "But thank you for the invitations. I do hope to see you again, and I'm...glad...to have found a kind ear tonight," he said, his blue eyes welling up slightly again as he smiled warmly.
"Take care of yourself," he said, dipping his head again, and with this the champagne horse was gone into the night.
