Summery After much hard training, time has come to put Amber's abilities to the ultimate test. High up the mountain lies Ayla's and Kaia's shrine and Amber is determined to seek them out. She however is not going alone and something tells them they're about to be tested.
Participating characters Amber, Froya, Zestoka, Skata and Muiris
Amber | ValkyrieAmber stood silently as everyone slowly trickled in. Somehow her little quest of reaching the shrines, had turned into somewhat of a group training mission. She sighed annoyed that it had come to this. Then again, she figured it was indeed good training for everybody, so she could hardly object on the matter. She stared up at the cloud covered peak of Mount Skeldr, imagining the shrines that stood proud at it's top. Kaia would be proud of her, no doubt, if she showed such dedication to climb all the way up. Maybe in the future it would be her to hear her prayers and bless her rather than the water goddess. She shook her head, forcefully dislodging the thought in her head. She mustn't be ungrateful for Cascade's choice in blessing her. Being blessed was an honour. Trying to distract herself, she looked around to watch the others. She hoped none of them would give her any trouble in reaching the top. Somewhere amongst that rocks laid the body of her aunt who perished trying to complete the journey. Aside from it being a training mission, this was also a tribute to Roselia, and nobody was stopping her in providing that honour for her aunt.

Muiris was the first one to arive. He usually was. He would wake up just before the sun offered its good morning greeting, sitting in front of his tent munching on his usual morning toast, and then moving on to his assignment while tying up his hair. The bob of his bun flopped on the top of his head, his tied up tail flicking behind him as he trotted up to the meeting place. The sun was now bright over the horizon, threating to blind anyone who was crazy enough to be awake this early. He was a little bit uncertain about this trip, as he had heard it was mainly for a certain mare- Amber- to visit the shrine of Kaia.. He was concerned he would start getting questions of his own beliefs, and on a religious trek, be expected to be fully religious. Which he wasnt. He respected the gods and everyone else's opinions, but they were simply not the right belief for him. If they really did exist, then his father would still be alive and his mother would not be missing.. or they were just complete assholes. But it was seeming more like the former.
He came to a stop as he approached the meeting spot, his eyes falling on the young red mare in question. He slowly approached her, a soft smile on his face. In all reality? He had only tagged along because he heard the adventure- leader was still just a kid. Even though there were other Valkyries were coming along (and fully capable), he was still worried about the young mare's saftey and would not forgive himself if something happened and he was not there to attempt to stop it. "Good morning." He offered as he drew closer to her, stopping only a few feet away. A small draft of wind shifted by, biting cold air nipping at the roan stallion's muzzle. He scrunched up his nose and huffed, his breath swirling before him. His ear twtiched to the side at the sound of upcoming hoofsteps, his brow raising ever so slightly. It seemed he wasnt the only one who was an early riser- others had started to trickle in slowly.
Oh, this was going to be great fun.

Froya | Valkyrie Making her way along the mountain path, Froya rounded a corner and spotted her fellow Valkyrie Amber with her bright coat glinting fire in the dawning sun. She had been surveying the beginning of the Skeldr trail, seeing if there would be any immediate obstacles on the trail and to scout the weather. It seemed as though Alya would bless their expedition with fair weather, at least for now, and there were no recent rock slides blocking the path.
Rocks gently tumbled from the path as the mare trotted down the rocky mountain slope to the rendezvous point. By this time, Amber had been joined by a stallion who was oddly familiar to Froya. Examining him as she approached, she could not place where she remembered him from. She flanked Amber, giving a nod of greeting. "I've scouted the earliest parts of the trail. We're clear for travel." she reported before facing Muiris, "I am Froya, and you are?"
The stout mare was laden with baggage filled with supplies; Food, canteen, tinder, flint, and kindling, blankets, rope ... the necessities for an alpine journey. She seemed prepared, almost like a senior mountaineer who commonly led groups over icy passages and over deep ravines.

Skata || War-Forged Valkyrie - The black mare looked up at the peak of Mount Skeldr as she trotted nearer and nearer to their meeting place. After a few moments, her gaze shifted upon the three equines that stood in an awkward group. Her ice-blue eyes narrowing, she came to a halt near a stallion. A small gust of wind whistled by, making the obsidian colored mare's ears twitch. She was actually somewhat excited for this journey, as this would be her first big one that she's been on. Skata, however, didn't doubt herself one bit with the thought of trekking up the craggy Mountain. She knew that she - and her fellow Valkyries - would be able to make it up. Giving a little flick of her mane, it cascaded down onto and past her neck, almost like a black waterfall as she nodded a greeting. "Good morning."
Her stature was set in a determined way as she glanced at the stallion, as if daring him to say that she and her fellow Valkyries wouldn't be able to make it to the top of the mountain. Skata's tail flicked impatiently as she waited for the rest of their companions before they begin their journey to the top of Mount Skeldr.

Zestoka || Valkyrie
The thick draft mare stood up in her tent and shook off the blanket that had covered her. After putting out the small fire she then head out to the meeting spot of the group. She stepped out into the cold brisk air and stretched out her legs. She had decided to make this trip all bout faith in Kaia and was only bringing a small amount of food and bandages but was smart enough to keep a large jug of water. She then picked up her hooves and cantered away.
She arrived a few minuets before the time they had set to meet. She looked around seeing Amber, Froya, Muris, and Skata. She looked over the group assessing each of them and what they seemed suited for. Zestoka nodded in greetings and stiffly said "Morning." to them all.

Amber | Valkyrie
To say that Amber was annoyed when she off all things saw a stallion arrive, was an understatement. When he greeted her she sent him a suspicious glare, not believing for a second the male was incidentally making the journey up to the shrine on the exact same day their band of females was. Was he maybe sent by her uncle to make sure they would be safe? He thought nothing of their capability after all, she wouldn't be surprised.
"What are you doing here?" She eventually questioned in a non too friendly tone just around the same time Froya came to inform her the road up ahead was clear to go. Normally Amber would be annoyed by the other mare's behaviour, always needing to be all... all... out there or whatever -she could never quite figure out what it was that irked her-. But now she just nodded in acknowledgement, Froya above all a fellow warrior and thus alongside herself walking proof of female empowerment. Allowing herself to look away from the male, she let her eyes drift towards the other mares trickling in. Instead of answering them verbally, she nodded at them in greeting. "Seems like everyone's here." Her eyes flickered towards Froya briefly as she spoke, knowing her the best. "The roads up ahead are clear so I suggest we start. We have a long journey up ahead. Everyone ready?" She made sure to acknowledge the earlier bit of information, also verifying if everyone was indeed ready to go. She wondered if maybe that'd make her a good leader. The thought make the corner of her mouth quirk up in a half smile.

The stallion was utterly stunned by the mare's reaction to his greeting, his brow raising in question and disbelief. Had he been any other stallion in his right mind, he would have set the mare straight for talking to him in such a tone, as it certainly wasnt her place. But Muiris did not share the nature of the other stallions of their herd, so that is not what he had done. Besides, he was too surprised by her rudeness to even respond in the first place. Once he had finally found his bearings, he opened his mouth to reply, but she had already shot him a terrible glare and turned away to address the others. The roan stallion rolled his eyes, sighing between gritted teeth. By the glances from a few of the others, he could already tell he was not welcome; but he had already committed to the task and would not back down now. His gaze finally glanced to the shorter mare beside him who had spoke of scouting the route ahead. She seemed oddly familiar, though he could not quite put his hoof on it. And then he realized that she had been speaking to him. Oops. "Muiris, pleased to meet you." He said quickly in response, dipping his head in greeting. He admired how prepared she looked for the climb- baggage pressing into her muddy-colored coat. And all he had brought was his usual- thick padded bracers tight against his legs and studded horseshoes to keep him grounded. But then again.. not everyone lived out in these conditions full time like he did.
His attention turned back to the young mare as she spoke up once more, only nodding to show that he was ready. He felt as though if he opened his mouth again, he would get a load of sass from her again.. and he wasnt here to get on everyone's bad side.

Froya | Valkyrie Unsurprisingly, the companion mares seemed distrustful of the stallion and were ready to throw him off a cliff at the slightest misstep. Froya found this slightly amusing, but felt a little bad for the stallion as well. He seemed fairly harmless, despite his size and war gear. However, he was wrong to think Froya was not accustomed to the often violent and unforgiving Onean elements. Raised in a nomadic herding clan meant she was bred from hardships of Kaia's land. Mount Skeldr, however, was fa challenge one could not over prepare for.
Nodding in response to Amber, Froya turned. Tempted to take the lead, she held back for a moment and decided to follow Amber second. This was her mission after all, she probably should be the one leading it. However, since the younger mare had never traversed this trail, Froya would be ready to pick up any slack anytime the tobiano faltered. Regarding the other party members, none of them seemed to have much gear. Based on this, she doubted any of them had successfully climbed the mountain before and hoped she had enough to support the group adequately. Narrowing her eyes in brief concern, she turned to follow Amber up the trail.

Skata || War-Forged Valkyrie - The black mare narrowed her eyes at the stallion, who was supposedly named Muiris. She didn't trust the stallion, not one bit. Sure, he didn't look threatening but that was just on the outside. What's on the inside is what really matters. /But maybe I do feel somewhat bad for him..I mean, we are kinda intimidating/ The mare smirked to herself at the last part of her thought. But why was he here anyway? Wasn't this supposed to be a Valkyrie only trip?
Snorting slightly, she turned back towards the mares and, nodding in response to Amber's question, flicked her mane and began to follow Amber up the trail. As she trotted along the craggy trail, Skata noticed how little supplies she brought, and was beginning to wonder if she had enough to last throughout the entire journey. A small look of doubt crossed upon her face but it was soon replaced by a guarded expression, as she wasnt the type to go around with feelings showing openly to the entire world on her face. She took in the beautiful sounds and scenery of nature as she followed her fellow Valkyries; the birds singing their harmonic melodies, the breeze tickling each of their faces and pelts, the sun making their bodies almost sparkle in the light...Trekking up to the peak of Mount Skeldr shouldn't be too hard, right?

Amber | Valkyrie
The stallion never answered to her questiom and Amber turned her head away, planning on ignoring him the whole trip if he didn't answer at her point. They'd show him if he thought they were frail ladies in need of protection of a 'big and strong' stallion. She snorted, looking in-between the other mares in the group, one by one trained Valkyrie. That stallion was kidding himself.
She secured her travel materials for the last time, checking if everything was in place, nothing Froya had packed up a lot more than she did. She mentally shook her head, blaming it on the fact the mare needed to overdo everything. As she set off however she was pleased to note the mare let her take the lead. She hadn't been in the mood really to squable of leadership of the trip, but felt like she should, seeing as she was who started this whole thing. Looking over her shoulder, she checked if everyone was following. "Any of you also paying respects at the shrine?" She eventually asked, trying to start light conversation. If there were other horses around it wouls be quite akward and boring to spent the whole trip in silence.
