Since his rise in political standing, Lux had somewhat anticipated more attention from other nobles than he was used to. What he had not anticipated was just how little he would care for it. He had accepted that it would be a necessary part of the job and has presumed that he would be able to cope with it, but as ever theory and the practice diverged greatly. Until recent years he had been a largely quiet member of House Nitor and faded easily into the shadows of his flashy family, which had always suited him just fine. When he had met with nobility it had most often been on his terms, and he had always had the luxury of taking a step back from society and finding peace in his study of library within Whitespire whenever he needed to recharge.
Now he no longer had that luxury. He was an adviser, and as such his time was much less his own. He had duties, responsibilities, and he simply hadn't accounted for how whiney other nobles could be. These were horses of leisure who had all the time and money in the world in invest in whatever they could desire, and yet so many seemed to think little beyond their next indulgence. The sheer banality of their conversation and concerns was grating, and when they weren't being dull they seemed to be spouting off ill-informed nonsense, which was decidedly worse. Lux was finding that it was all starting to wear on his patience, and realising that he didn't quite have the coping mechanisms to deal with this long-term.
As such, he sought out the advice of a fellow. He had settled on approaching Rosalba initially - Houses Cardea and Nitor were not so dissimilar to each other, being houses of architecture and artisans, and above everything he was drawn to the sharpness of her mind. She had been playing the political game far longer than he had and he was hopeful she would share some advice, directly or indirectly, on political conduct. She had at least offered the chance for them to meet at her home, which he appreciated.
Rosebriar Manor was certainly a spectacle, as should only be expected of a house with such a history of architects. Lux, having enjoyed a leisurely solo walk to the Manor, introduced himself to the servant. "Advisor Rosalba should be expecting me," he said simply, then turned his attention to the buildings of Rosebriar, noting the different styles and finishes of the architecture with some interest and content to wait until he was to be shown through to meet with the Head of the House.
