Temporary title because I have no idea what to call it :'D
Light streamed in through the large windows, airy drapes pulled and hooked back, room bright in the midday light. Nobody had rung the bell at his shop since the early morning, and the noble that did had come to pick up their order. After a brief and light-hearted haggle, they'd decided on a price, and payment and thanks were given. Quiet days for Ari meant working on bridle commissions, or even experimenting with metals and trying his hoof at carving. Today, however, he stood at his workbench in the left room, mulling over his current piece. Leather scraps, metal buckles and rings were strewn about the bench, tools pushed off to the side, as he studied the parchment the customer had presented him with. It was for their servile slave, the name of which withheld, to be made from dark leather and to give off a "subtle air of superiority", as they'd put it. He'd chosen a dark brown, almost ebony, and had gone out and completed the slave's measurements the day before, and had gone over the measurements twice for each section. These were scrawled down on another piece of parchment, currently hanging on the wall above his bench, which spanned the entire length of the wall. A row of shelves lay to the right, flush against the right wall of the room, effortlessly rivaling the length of the workbench. Each shelf compartment held tubs and boxes of assorted screws, buckles, metal rings of all shapes and sizes, along with a handful of leather coils and almost a dozen fabrics. Glancing over to the shelves, Ari noted the number of them with care. He'd need to go down to the marketplace and look at purchasing more leather soon. On the wall directly behind him were bridle display hooks, and a couple models used to display bridle styles and materials.
Right, back to focusing. This project required a little more thought power than most of his commissions, no thanks to the customer who hadn't given much thought to the design of what he purchased. Well, if he's unhappy with it then he'll just have to be more specific next time. Ari had already cut the cheekband and noseband, and would soon move on to cutting the others, after he engraved the cheekband. Grabbing a plain piece of paper, Ari selected a soft led pencil, and began sketching out an Ignacio-inspired design. He was aiming to make it look like flames, wreathing around the tines of Ignacio's great antlers. Whether or not he managed to pull it off was another matter entirely. If all went well, and as long as he was undisturbed, he would be finished cutting and engraving by tomorrow morning.
