K E A H I She said, "here's your one chance, Fancy, don't let me down. Here's your own chance, Fancy, don't let me down."
Had yesterday been a dream?
Keahi woke from his slumber, going through the motions of his morning routine, half in shock. He felt... complete, like something had been missing all along. This new presence of fire in his heart, his soul, the very fibers of his being, was familiar. Warm. Comforting. It reminded him of his love, of the connection he shared with Alyxx, even though they had to appear to be Courtesan and client, perhaps friends, but nothing more.
But although Fire's presence was familiar, it was far from being controlled.
Every step, every click of teeth could produce sparks, painful and annoying. Sometimes, spurred on by anger or passion, he would launch a bolt from his body, up to five feet away. He never knew what caused the electricity to activate, and as such had no idea how to even start working on controlling it. He knew he would have to cut back on clients until he got this... whatever it was under control. The last thing he needed was to hurt someone on the job- or hurt himself, should his Blessing react when he was swimming or otherwise wet.
It wasn't to say he wasn't grateful- far from it, in fact. He would be forever thankful that the Smoldering Sun thought he was worthy of a way to protect himself and others- he just wished he had control.
He wandered into Palasa Sanctum, hoping for guidance, and perhaps a moment of peace. He loved both of the gods worshipped here, Earth Mother and Smoldering Sun. He knelt before the Ignacio statue, breathing in the smell of incense and melting wax, letting it soothe his soul.
He prayed he wouldn't start shocking things this time.

Hummus moved through the halls of the sanctum with a certain lightness to her gait. This was unusual for her, or maybe it was becoming the new normal. She hadn't been a sanctum attendant for very long, but she could already feel things changing in her life because of it; faith did produce miracles. It was ironic since all during her childhood and adolescence she'd had dark moments of questioning whether or not the gods really cared, times of loneliness and pain. Her mother's death was what had moved her to try and be more pious, and this was only strengthened by the unforeseen opportunity to get away from her father for good. It was like Ignacio deliberately opened a door for her to escape and try again somewhere else, in a new life. She appreciated it beyond words. Lately, she'd felt closer to Ignacio than Kaia, but she loved them both -- and felt determined that they loved her in return. There were all sorts of scholarly things here in the sanctum she could read about either those gods, and she'd already started sifting through them, book by book. It had been something her mother talked about often: being educated on the gods as much as she could. Never getting the chance, she died with it only being a pipe dream. Her daughter would live it for her.
She finally found herself in the room with Ignacio's shrine and stopped, blinking. Someone was here. Someone of a pale, dappled coat she did not recognize. They looked like they were praying. She went very quiet, suddenly aware her hoof-falls must've been overly loud in her approach, and waited for them to notice her. She almost had the instinct to leave them alone with their prayers but remembered she was an attendant now, and that meant she had to be there for whoever needed her in this place.

K E A H I She said, "here's your one chance, Fancy, don't let me down. Here's your own chance, Fancy, don't let me down."
Keahi turned at the sounds of hoofsteps behind him. His ears perked up, and he took in the form of the mare behind him. She was quite pretty, her painted form beautiful in the typical Aodhian view. He gave her a nod, adjusting his veil to cover his face a little better. "Hello," he said, giving the mare a nod. "Do you need me to step aside so you can pray?"
He hadn't seen her around before, and he frequented this Sanctum. It was likely that she was just another Aodhian, coming in to worship. She could be a Sanctum attendant, but, well, it was unlikely.
He glanced back at the effigy of Ignacio, gilt in bright flame, with a sigh. How he wished he could have answers on how to control this, this... thing. His anger mounted, and though he tried to rein it back, a bolt flew off of him and onto the ground a few feet away, bright and sharp. He felt the electricity leave his skin, the jolt of it but not the pain. As it left, he jumped in the air, practically scared from his skin by the action. Another one shot off at his fear, landing neatly at the Common Horse's hooves.
Keahi quickly backed out of range, his eyes wide. "By my gods, I am so sorry!" he cried, looking at the mare in fear. "I didn't mean for that to happen. Are you alright?" He looked at the mare, looking for any burn marks, and praying he didn't cause her harm.

"Oh, no. I'm actually an Attendant here."
She clears that up for him, smiling politely. She saw him look back at the effigy, sighing. She wondered what could be ailing him when suddenly she received her answer in the form of small thunderbolts, jumping from his body and around the room, and then finally at her own hooves. She felt her breath catch at that, but somehow she did not flinch or have much of any kind of reaction. All she did was freeze in place.
"Oh, my! You certainly have been blessed, have you not?"
A little worry seeps into her tone, and a moment later she regrets it. This young stallion must surely be insecure about his gift, for it to behave in such a manner.
"We should talk about this -- it's why you have come, yes?"
Twice she's been turned away by equines when she asked them something similar, and both those times happened to be the first visitors to the Sanctum she ever saw. It must've been because she had a clueless and new air about her, and so she dearly hoped that wouldn't be the case this time. Especially since this stranger clearly needed someone's help...
"How long has this been going on?"

K E A H I She said, "here's your one chance, Fancy, don't let me down. Here's your own chance, Fancy, don't let me down."
Keahi blushed at his mistake, although his veil hid the changing colors on his cheeks well. He had not seen her around before- he had been coming to Palasa for years, and had never seen hide or hair of the painted mare. Perhaps he had just not come at the right time- she could have been attending to duties that had nothing to do with the main chambers, or working with another worshipper. It could also be that his times of visitation were when she was eating, or praying, or taking care of herself. She was allowed those small luxuries. "Pardon me, then, miss," he said with a nod. "I just haven't seen you here before. May Ignacio light your path, and Kaia keep it steady." Normally, he would have only said the first half of the greeting- around most Aodhians, it was all he said- but given their location, it seemed fitting to bring up both the Smoldering Sun and the Mother of Life.
He pondered over the Blessing he had been given as the bolts cooled to simple sparks before subsiding once again. "Yes- Ignacio granted me Electricity Manipulation, but it has grown in power quite significantly over the past few days- far beyond my ability to control it. It started as sparks, but the bolts started happening yesterday, and they have only been getting stronger."
Keahi nods at the Attendant's words. "You are correct again. I came hoping that Ignacio would offer some advice- but all that is here is a silent statue. I'm on my own- or I was, until you came upon me." He gives her a smile, a small one, touched by worry and a bit of fear. "Ignacio gave this gift to me so that I might protect the ones I love, but I haven't been able to take on clients for fear of hurting them. Worse, I can't visit my love- I would never be able to bear harming them, even if it was on accident."
A single polished blue hoof paws minutely at the ground, more an action of digging in the toe of the hoof than an actual pawing of the ground- that would be far too disgraceful to do on hallowed ground, and below his station as a high-class Courtesan. "I am terribly sorry for losing control- the bolts seem to be tied to strong emotions. Whenever I am stressed, confused, angry... the sparks start flying, and it is only by fleeing and finding someplace quiet that I can shut them off, so to speak."
He lowers his head, his ears flicking back as he apologizes. It is true- he never meant to aim the bolts of lightning at her, or at anyone else they have come into contact with over the past couple of days. He has stayed in his flat, fighting for control, and has ended up with far more scorched possessions than a few days ago. He quickly marks down the approximate cost in his head- if he can't get back to taking on clients soon, he'll need to find another job- and he'd hate that, for it would separate him from Alyxx.
He gives his head a shake, moving back into the present. He bows before her, not so low as to suggest she is part of Aodh's nobility, or a Flamen, but low enough to offer his respect and gratitude in the quiet space. "It's a pleasure to meet you, miss. Keahi, high-class Courtesan in danger of losing the title, at your service."

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Keahi. I am Hummus," she introduces herself to him as well.
"You won't be losing your job. Why would Ignacio grant you a gift if He didn't believe you'd move far in life?" She points out, in her own opinion logically. "This is all so new to you, it only makes sense there's a few mishaps. You say it is tied to your emotion more than anything? Have you ever tried meditation? I find it helps greatly to clear minds -- practicing it every day may aid you. Perhaps this is Ignacio's way of teaching you to control your emotions better as well. Have they ever been a problem for you?"
She realizes too late that she may be spewing question after question and sounding like she's rambling. Some equines (like her father) would get annoyed at too many words. New lifestyle she may be in, but she is still a nervous soul who worries what others think of her. She tries to put real purpose into her voice -- she's never been too great at being firm. But she believes it's what Keahi needs right now. If only someone had been like this with her not so long ago when she needed it.
