Kanu Eko & ChepiJodifarrow22 & Zomsith
Setting: Both Kanu and Chepi are attending a conference of sorts, for the higher ranked citizens of Aodh. This is Kanu and Chepi's initial meeting.
KANU
The meeting so far had been boring. Kanu didn't mind attending these sorts of events, but this had been the third in one week, and that was borderline unbearable. In between he hadn't much time to have any downtime either, so things had been pretty packed in his schedule, which he didn't always deal with well. Luckily he had received word that this would be the last gathering for a while, at least until his presence was needed at a formal court session again, which personally he preferred compared to what he was stuck in now. For a moment the subjects were allowed to leave for a break, get some air, stretch their legs. It wasn't a necessarily stressful or prolonged assembly, but Kanu wasn't complaining as he enjoyed the break. He mingled among the other nobles and stood on the balcony, breathing in the fresh morning air. He was in a good place now. He didn't know how or why, but he was. His mind was clear and he felt genuinely happy, like he was on the right path.
Interrupting his train of thought, another Noble stallion came up beside him and sparked conversation. It was an older stallion, one of Kanu's father's pals. Speaking to him was almost therapeutic, as he always tended to bring up past memories he shared with Ryder. Kanu listened intently, smiling calmly. "Yeah it can be like... that." Kanu said, eyes trailing from his companion as they traced down a mare in the crowd indoors. He knew her as Chepi, but had never spoken to her properly before. He overlooked her momentarily, taking note of others in the room, but his bright blue eyes met hers, and he excused himself from the man he was talking to, feathered hooves carrying him over to her. He smiled casually, looking around the room as though inspecting it, "You being put through this hell to?" He said, amused. He leaned over to one of the tables nearby and grabbed a drink of water, sipping it every now and again. His mouth had grown dry from talking, so the water was welcomed with an open maw. He found it almost amusing how similar Chepi and he were in looks. their coats were vastly different, but their features, much the same.
Shifting his weight to one side, he awaited her reply. To see whether she would welcome his conversation opening or wave him off irritably.

She didnt want to go. She had been home only for a few days now, and the thought of being dragged to a meeting where they were going to blab on about stuff she didnt care about, and not to mention, being cooped up inside all day, was not appealing to the spotted mare one little bit. But her father, who still somehow had control over her even though she was a 23 year old adult had convinced her to get her ass out there and perform her "civil duty." The talking seemed to draw out for forever. And she honestly didnt understand half the things the presenter was blabbing on about. She was downright bored, and her neighbor didnt seem to appreciate her throwing googly eyes in his direction for the entire meeting. When they announced that a break was allowed, Chepi seemed to be the first one up and out to mingle. She could not stand being so quiet for that long!
A translucent blue shawl hung against her neck and shoulders- something she had borrowed from her mother before stealing away to the assembly. She loved the old thin thing, even if it was not truly hers. It complimented her sparkling eyes and gleaming horn, and was a nice way to keep the incurable curls that she called a mane in check. It flowed softly against her thick, fluffy coat as she carried herself across the wooden floors, stopping every now and then to offer a brief 'hello' to friends of her family. She never quite felt in place when it came to the noble court, particularly when it came to close friends. She was on her high horse herself, but there were some that were up on two or three. Just the looks in their eyes caused her to sneer at them.
A soft breeze blew in from an open balcony, her bright blue gaze shifted toward it, suddenly locking onto one of a Kanu Eko. Chepi had seen him around, knew his name, but never really managed to give a proper greeting. She could even admit that she had been admiring the handsome Lord from afar, though never got the courage to approach him. Low and behold, he was suddenly walking toward her. Her ears flicked forward at his mused words, a small chuckle leaving her smile. "Oh, i think these can be quite fun if you really try." She smirked lightly, her brow raising as she, too, leaned her shoulder against a nearby table. She took the chance to look him over, for once, up close. As always, her attention was solely on his pointed horn, the light in the room making it sparkle with his subtle movements.
She suddenly leaned in close, her eyes narrowing ever so slightly. "If you ask me, though, i think they're just keeping us in here to see who snaps next." She added with a hushed, amused tone. "Noble pit fighters- it'll be a thing. Just you wait."

KANU
Pleased that Chepi had replied rather than brushed him off- which he'd expected since she didn't seem the type to like these sorts of events- he gave her a smile. Her sarcastic remark had him chuckling, nodding his head and raising his brows. She was right, he guessed, this could be fun, but he didn't think there was any way that was possible without getting kicked out. He smirked at the thought, though. He watched her just as she watched him, having been the first time they were this close for this long it was normal to want to get a proper look at who they were talking to. Chepi was hard to miss though, her vibrant coat and gleaming horn- similar to his- placed her out of the crowd. She was much prettier up close, though, he had to admit. And he enjoyed talking to a mare more his size; it was a small thing but a detail he appreciated nonetheless.
When she leaned in, he stepped back slightly, not expecting her to have done that. He raised a brow, eyes following hers as she looked at the surrounding Nobles suspiciously. A smile cracked on his lips as he motioned with his horn to a stallion across the room, his own eyes twitching and his hair standing on end. "Looks to me like that old bag may be the first to validate your theory." He said, words laced with amusement. He flicked the stray piece of hair that hung down on his forehead from his eyes, and licked his lips as he finished his cup. He looked over the table before his eyes widened and he gave Chepi a devious, cheeky grin. "Don't move," he began, "I'll be back." He finished as he walked into a separate room. He was gone for a few minutes, but finally reemerged, blue eyes shifting to his fellow Nobles socializing around him. He stood close to Chepi, and out from under him came a cup that he handed to her using telepathy. He brought another out from hiding and held it under his mouth. It was whiskey, just a smidgen, mixed with berry juice. You could smell it, but it was not potent enough to carry across the room on it's own.
"You don't have to have it if you don't want it. I just like it for these sorts of things. It makes me look awake, but numbs me enough so I can't feel the sheer pain of sitting in that room for another three hours." He gave her a wink before downing his, puckering his lips once it was gone. He placed the cup on the table, and filled it with water to dull the smell. Instantly you could see him relax; that's what alcohol would do to an alcoholic. Not that Kanu was one, no, he was just a good drinker, and believed alcohol helped him function properly. But that was his opinion, there were probably others out there who would say otherwise.

The mare's gaze shifted in the direction he pointed, landing on a rickety old man who was probably just here for the free coffee. She smirked, snorting under her breath to keep down a laugh. "Are you sure you can take him?" She grinned, turning back to the Lord with her muzzle scrunched in amusement. She froze, her brow raising as he gave her a strange grin and told her to stay put- which she did. Her eyes followed him as he disappeared into a back room, curiosity causing a shiver to run down her spine. She glanced down at the table they were at, her eyes following the intricate details in the woodworking. Now that she was working as an Emissary, she found it so intriguing to see the differences Aodh had to Talori. Here, their tables were etched with works of fire and sharp, jagged lines. Just following them showed a tale of power and heat and great energy. In Talori? A table like this would have soft, smooth stroked like the ocean. It would be calm, inviting, and warm.
His return pulled her out of her slight trance, her head tipping to the side as he subtly handed her a glass. She took it confidently, her eyes dropping down to inspect it. The scent reached her nostrils and a sharp grin crossed her features. "Oh, Kanu, i am very pleased to have finally met you today." She chuckled with a smirk, downing the drink quickly and carefully setting the glass on the table (she had to resist the urge to slam it down loudly and shout "whos next??" like a silly little bar challenge). She followed his lead, filling the glass with water to dull the smell. The whiskey warmed her throat, running down to her stomach and creating a tingling sensation in her coat. Oh, how alcohol could please the soul.
She noticed him relax, and she did as well. She hadnt noticed how tense she had been after sitting through all those dumb talks, but not it felt just great to be here. "How did you know that was back there?" She whispered through hushed teeth. Surely, they wouldnt let someone just prance in unnoticed with their drinks, right? Or was this dark stallion just incredibly sneaky.

KANU
The grin never left Kanu's face as he watched the spotted mare down her drink, following the stallion as she doused the scent in water. He winked at her in reply to her comment, before looking around to see if anyone had noticed what they'd done. It didn't appear so, everyone seemed occupied with other more important things. Kanu found that fact amusing, and chuckled, shaking his head. He licked his lips, savoring the taste of the whiskey as it slowly began to disappear from his taste-buds. He remembered what she'd said before he'd gone to get the drinks, and returned his gaze to the older man across the room who was- as Kanu ha expected- sipping coffee and nibbling biscuits. "I think I could take him now." He smirked cheekily, raising his brows at her.
At her hushed question, Kanu edged closer to her, keeping his eyes about the room, nodding to those who'd nodded at him. He cleared his throat, and as though he was telling her a grand secret, he whispered, "I know my way around these halls, I know where others don't go. That's where I make my hiding places." He looked down at her finally, and nudged her on the shoulder, giving yet another wink- almost habitually now. He didn't do it often, but when he knew conferences like these were coming up, he would generally place a bottle or two of his favorite alcohol in the hallway walls; behind the paintings, under tables, etc. Then, when he needed it, it would be there waiting. And he always needed it. He was good at sneaking it now, and knew not to go over the top or his very breath would begin to wreak of poison, and he'd be punished for it. So just small amounts of time, with water and food in between, was what he chose to do, and it worked perfectly.
He let out a small burp and excused himself, "So, I'm Kanu, if you didn't know. You're Chepi right?" He asked, eyes gleaming wildly. "You're the one who came from Talori, aren't you?" He didn't know much of Talori, but he did know that Aodh wasn't in such good ties with the water-based herd. Aodh was built on ash and flame, Ignacio's to be exact, and so he found it odd that someone from such an opposite place would be here. Unless the spotted mare preferred fire, of course, but he didn't think that would be possible, what with the Talorian's being rather proud and devoted to their culture, which he could respect.

She giggled at him when he bumped her shoulder and gave her yet another wink, causing her to dip her nose behind her glass of water. "Well, now i know who to run to when im dragged to silly little meetings like this." The mare teased, wrinkling her muzzle to suppress yet another giggle. Her brow raised as he questioned her name, to which she nodded in response. "Yes, i was graciously allowed to come home just in time for this conference it seems." She sighed with a roll of her eyes. She paused for a moment and glanced back at him. "Oh, i hope you dont think im of Talorian blood." She chuckled, setting down her glass of water carefully. "Although i spend most of my time there, i represent our herd to them. Strictly Aodhian blood, i am, and damn proud of it." It was now her time to wink at him, her bright blue eyes sparkling with her trademark mischief.
Her attention turned to her glass, and her telekinesis reach swirled the cool liquid within its glass captor. "The Talorians are an interesting breed, very different from us." She explained, not really caring if he wanted to hear about her experiences or not. She had not spoken to a single soul other than her parents and her brother since she had returned home, and desperately wanted to share with anyone who was close enough to listen. Her brow wrinkled and she shook her head softly. "Not to mention, very modest. I just looked a stallion in a flirtatious way, apparently, and i was getting all sorts of dirty looks in the room." Her voice hushed and her gaze turned back to Kanu. "They dont really like sex." The blunt one, Chepi always was. One brow lifted in slightly concern, as if those silly Talorians were crazy to think such a thing. And to her and her culture, they were.
"Ah, but they arent all bad. It is nice to get some peace and quiet here and there." She chuckled, leaning back against the table and resting a back leg in a slanted position. "They are much less rowdier than we are- saves the headaches." She snorted a chuckle, reaching for another sip of her water. Silence fell over the curly mare as her blue gaze sought out Kanu's once more, her ears shifting to the side. Now she felt like she had talked about herself a little too much. Woops. She cleared her throat and set her glass down for the final time, the water now gone. "What about you, Kanu, what do you do?" She asked softly, curiosity deep in her tone.

KANU
The dark Noble listened with intent, eyes widening somewhat when she hinted that she wasn't of Talorian blood. He didn't know whether to apologize, laugh or go along as though he'd known all along and was just joking. He raised his brows, ears growing warm with embarrassment. He really had believed she was from Talori, since he'd only ever heard of her being associated with them, and hadn't seen her here often. He should have been able to put two and two together, but it was apparent that the fact she could be an Emissary hadn't even entered his mind. "Apologies, you'd think I'd know, but, don't over estimate my cognitive abilities." He said, tapping his horn with his glass and giving her a charming but somewhat comical smile. He looked to the clock on the wall, just ensuring they weren't supposed to be somewhere since it seemed some of the older Nobles had left. Perhaps their conversation was boring everyone out. Good, Kanu thought, he'd rather be alone with Chepi than surrounded by bitter, wrinkled cacti.
He nodded along with her words; he didn't know any Talori that well, but he guessed Chepi would especially, and gathered that they were far different from Aodhians anyways, hence the conflict between the herds. Fire and water are two very different elements. He gave her an alarming glance, subtle but clear in its motives. They didn't like sex? Now that was odd. He exhaled with slight irritation, or as though he pitied them. He couldn't live without it, frankly. He was sure that if he had to live among the Talori for only a day he'd die by the end of it, maybe by stoning... if they did that- he wouldn't have been surprised. He didn't want to seem too shocked, because, well, he didn't want to come across as a horny teenager who depended on sex to with hold his self esteem. "They don't? Wow... well I have to say I'd get somewhat bored over there." He whispered, giving a cheeky grin, "you... you often give stallions flirtatious glances from across the room?" He asked, raising one brow and tilting his head slightly. He didn't really mind, he was just being a goof.
"Oh, me? I'm a Lord of the Eko house. Yes, it's all the good life here, worked my way up the ladder from the lowest rung and as you can see I am just rolling in luxury." Every word was dripped with sarcasm, but he shook his head, "no, it is fun. Probably not as fun as stirring the pot over at nun-land am I right?" He said, giving her another wink. Before Chepi could reply, an announcement was made to everyone that the meeting was resuming, and all participants were to take their seats immediately. They were very strict about that. Kanu shrugged to Chepi, and upon realising that they were sitting at either ends of the room, he stopped her before they walked in. "Do you want to... get a proper drink sometime?" He asked, and she quickly whispered 'sure' into his ear before winking and trotting to her seat. Kanu smiled, looking forward to that well earned drink.
