Location: Open water to the East of Onea's farmlands, aboard The Arbiter, an old yet strong and sound former Pirate ship.
World Time: Takes place roughly around 8 weeks after the events of Chapter 8.
Time of Day: EXTREAMLY early in the morning. the sun is only a smudge of pink under the horizon and the stars are still visible, as is the moon.
Weather: Gets sunnier as the day progresses. There is a very nasty lightning storm on the horizon and the winds are picking up. This one is gonna be a killer.
Prompt: The destination is a small Merchant town near Onea's border that primarily deals in weaponry and raw materials. The Merchant Ship has been commissioned to conduct a Trade with the town - Their materials in exchange for food and pelts. Delta, as instructed by Hira, is coming along as a Valkyrie's escort. Food and pelts are valuable. Oberon, Delta's father and The Arbiter's Captain, insisted that Kelby also be part of the escort.

DELTA
It was early. Too early for Delta’s liking, but not for Jeremy. The small bat had been wide awake hours before the dappled silver mare had even begun to rise from her bed in the fortress.
This was a simple escort mission, but she would be lying if she said that she wasn’t excited. It had been too long since the last time she had been on board a ship. What made her all the more happy about the job was that the Captain of the merchant ship was none other than her father, Oberon.
She had left before Kelby had even shifted beneath her own covers, having been woken up by Jeremy and his childish enthusiasm. A ship required something lightweight and flexible in terms of armor. Her Dragonscale plate armor would do her no good if she fell over. She saw the opportunity to show off a brand new set she had never worn and would be exchanging the plate armor.
Most of this armor was full-grain leather and chainmail, save for the plated shoulders, rump and breast plate which, true to the style, sported a downward-facing scale pattern and texture. Though, not nearly as abrasive to the touch as the previous scales in her initial set of armor. She decided to forgo the crinets and the helmet, deciding that they were unnecessary.
She had left her Claymore behind. Her Blessings and spiked iron shoes were weapons enough as they were.
She was now trotting briskly across a rocky ocean cliff, spotting a pair of lit lanterns near the head of the path leading to the beach below. She made her way over to the lanterns that were accompanied by two rather large horses,
“Morning,” she greeted once in earshot.
The two horses, both heavy drafts, nodded and gave her a smile, “Aye, a fine one it’s turnin’ out ta be, as well.” replied the large mare. The two horses looked exactly the same, save for their manes and the white on their faces and legs. Both were a seal bay, but where one had a thick blaze and four white stockings, the other had a star and three white socks. The mare sported a short, wavy mane while the stallion beside her had his cut close to his neck with longer bangs.
The stallion nodded to the Valkyrie, “We waitin’ on the other one then?” he asked.
Delta chuckled a but, “Yeah. I left early. One of the set-backs of having a bat as your familiar is that you can never sleep in.” she joked, making the other two give a hearty laugh, “Well, we got till the sun reaches the mountain. No rushin’ ya just yet.” shrugged the stallion.
Delta nodded in understanding, looking back to watch for Kelby.

As the morning sun came into the Barracks, Kelby started, their mane rumpled and their eyes groggy. They stretched, taking in the morning air- crisp and clean, with a hint of amber spice from the apple orchards, and chilly with the upcoming start of winter. They smiled down at the still-sleeping Herja, her fluffy sides snuggled close to theirs for warmth. She looked over to Delta's bed, surprised to find it empty- it was shockingly early for the other mare to be up.
And then she remembered what day it was.
Practically falling out of her bed, landing in a heap on the floor, she cursed. This woke up Herja, who looked at Kelby with a disgruntled look on her face, before yawning and stretching, struggling to wake up even with the chilly air sneaking its way into the Barracks.
Kelby, on the other hoof, was already scrambling around the Barracks, brushing her mane and braiding it, wiping the sleep gunk out of her eyes, throwing on her leather armor, tightening the straps and checking the buckles, and finally throwing on her weapons- her longsword, her rapier, her set of throwing daggers, and her crossbow. She might just be an escort today, but it never hurt to be prepared. And besides- with all the weapons she carried, in addition to her Blessing, no one in their right mind would challenge her. Grabbing a bit of body paint, she made a few quick, yet intricate, designs on her flanks and legs before putting it back in her chest. She would look damn good today.
Herja had finally woken up, and padded softly to Kelby's side. "Good morning, fluffbutt," they quickly said, earning another disgruntled look from the wolf, as if to say I am no fluffbutt, watch your mouth. A small chuckle escaped their mouth at their wolf's antics, before they quietly escaped the Barracks, escaping into the street.
Kelby stretched a bit, working out the early morning stiffness in her limbs before taking off in a fast trot, simultaneously excited and nervous for this mission. When she was out of the more densely populated part of town, she burst into a gallop, enjoying Alya's breezes through her tail and the steadiness of Kaia's earth beneath her hooves. Herja yipped at her before also increasing her speed, a large wolfish grin overtaking her features as her tongue hung out the side of her mouth.
They quickly reached the docks, and Herja, madly panting, flopped down to rest on the wooden pier. Kelby kissed her head, then walked over to the ship in question. She spied Delta's form on deck, and hollered up to her friend. "Mornin', Dels! How's the weather up there?"
Turning back to their wolf, Kelby smiled, pushing Herja to her paws before walking up the gangplank onto the deck. Two other horses, similar in build to Delta, stood nearby, their seal bay coats gleaming. Nodding their head in greeting, Kelby added to them, "Nice to meet ya. I'm Kelby."
She smiled at her friend before taking the spot beside her. This was certainly going to be an adventure.

DELTA
For the next thirty minutes, Delta and the Twins waited in a comfortable, peaceful silence. No one was in a hurry.
Jeremy perked up his ears and skittered along Deltas back, stopping at the top of her rump, "Mum! Look at that fluffy dog!" He squeaked, excited to see a friend, "Imma go pet it!"
Delta watched with a smile as Jeremy flew over to Herja and landed on top of her shoulders, crawling up her neck a squeaking happily.
Then her eyes landed on Kelby after hearing her greeting and she burst out in laughter, "Oh my gods, Kelby where do you think we are going?" She teased lightly, "You brought half the armory with you, holy shit!"
She chuckled at the sheer amount of pure, unbridled artillery her friend had strapped to her sides.
The seal bay stallion cleared his throat, as both of the Twins were holding in amused laughter and hiding it very well, "Yer friend has a tad point. All that weight will do you no good on board the ship, lass." He said in a kind voice, "Extra points fer being prepared, however." Giggled the mare.
The two horses turned away, beckoning the Valkyries to follow with their lanterns. As the light crossed the sides of the twins, there was the faint glint of scales cascading down their backs and a fair sized, see-through fin that started at the base of their manes and ended at the head of their tails.
Delta leaned in to whisper to Kelby as they walked down to the beach where there was a lifeboat waiting for them, "They are Glass Fish Hippocampus, in case you were wondering."
Once the three mares and Herja were in the boat, the stallion shoved it into the water, jumping in before the water reached his knees.
The boat began to move at a steady pace without any rowing from the others. The silhouette and ship lights of the Arbiter could be seen against a smudge of pink that was barely visible. Looking to the stars Delta quickly located Ignacio and Cascade, bidding them both a silent 'Good Morning'.
As the boat closed in to the Arbiter, Delta remembered something, "Oh, hey Kelby, check this out."
The insides of her nostrils and the back of her throat ignited with a cold teal glow as fire built up in her mouth. Parting her lips, Delta let out a hard breath, spitting a short huff of flame through her teeth. She looked at her friend with a smile, "I just figured out how to do that the other week."
The boat bumped into the side of the Arbiter a few moments later and the Seal bay mare whistled up to the deck. Four new faces shrouded in shadows peered over the rail then ducked back out of sight.
A trio of hooks rigged up to a set of pulleys descended to the small lifeboat. One was clipped to an iron ring at the lifeboats' bow, the other two were clipped to each of the sturns' corners. The stallion turned to the two Valkyries, "No moving. It's hard enough to haul this bitch up with two drafts in it, let alone three drafts, a wolf and a common carrying artillery." He told them, the last bit said with a hint of good humor.
Slowly, the boat began to rise out of the water and up to the rail. Once there, more of the crew was visible, some coming up from below deck to see who had come on board. The horses in the boat jumped out onto the ships deck, their hooves landing with hollow thuds.
Deltas eyes scanned the crew but Oberon was not among them. That is until a few minutes later when a blacker than black mare with a long, finned serpentine tail made an announcement, "Captain on Deck!"
The entire crew turned to face the helm of the ship where the black mare stood. Oberon made his way down the ramp to the deck, carrying himself with all the confidence and intimidation an old Captain could.
He smiled at the Valkyries and stopped in front of them, "Ladies," he greeted warmly, "Welcome aboard the Arbiter."
