Chasing A Dream | Misha X Tiresias RP
"You give up a few things chasing a dream."
Recovering from injuries of both the physical, and emotional sense, seeking out comfort and help in the form of a familiar friend is a way to help process what events have occurred, one returning from battle in a literal sense, the other from a political one, and it's good to be able to confide in another one's fears and weakening dreams.
Date: Oct 10th Time of Day: Early evening, sun just beginning to set Weather: Clouds beginning to roll in, promising rain overnight. Location: Palasa Sanctum
Participants: Misha | Chevalier Tiresias | Palasa Flamen

Misha was still healing from the battle that had occured in Opulence. And the shock that came with seeing Alya, a goddess in the flesh, saving their asses. And the kirins getting obliterated by her meteors. Hell, all of this had been traumatizing and Misha hadn't realized just how shook he was by it, until he saw kirins in the city and felt his whole body get tense. He knew most, if not all, kirins in New Valore were turned into kirins by Ignacio himself. Parts of him wondered whether they'd turn into those he fought. If they'd turn on their fellow aodhians and become furious monsters like the others. But he stopped himself from doing anything, only side-eyeing them when he got close, trying to determine whether they were friend or foe.
The wound on his leg had kept him in the medic wing for a week, before he finally convinced the doctor to let him go and do his work - even just overseeing slaves or keeping guard somewhere. The arrow had had hooks, meaning his flesh had been torn away when it went by him. He was glad it had missed as much as it did - if it hadn't, he would have needed a bigger surgery or he'd have torn it out in the battle and risked losing his leg later. But back to reality, he was here and alive. Etain was in her residence and the rest who had been with him.. He knew them none too well, and so he sought out Tiresias to talk about what had happened, maybe see if he knew more about the kirins and what was going on.
As he reached the Sanctum, he felt very small. Walking through the doors, he watched the statue of Ignacio in a new light - slightly fearful rather than awe. He didn't want to fear his god, the one who had blessed him by birth, but the kirins were his creations and he wondered what went wrong. Why were they like this, why Alya had saved them and not Ignacio. Seeing some of the sanctum attendants, he asked for Tiresias and followed their directions. Walking around the librabry, which seemed endless due to its setup, he found the Flamen putting away a book.
"Tiresias!" He greeted the other, a cheerful tone in his voice, momentarily having forgot about the kirins and the battle. Walking closer, Misha kept a polite distance, as to not get all up in the others personal space. There was something about the other that Misha couldn't quite put his words on yet, but a polite distance was always the right way to go, then let other initiate a longer or closer one. "It's good to see you again. A lot has happened since last time, hasn't it?" He didn't explain further, for a second forgetting about the others blindness, and therefore not being able to see Misha's wounds or ask about them. Instead, he'd explain whenever the conversation got that far, to talk about all that had happened. "Should we move somewhere to sit down, if you have the time to talk?" He better have the time, because Misha was a fool who forget to ask in the first place

"Help others without any reason and give without the expectation of receiving anything in return."
~ ~ ~
To simply return to their work as a Flamen, knowing that Aodh was going from one war, to another, and for it to be a war they had no stake in was... Difficult. While they were trying their best to maintain their calm, to do their duties, they found themself questioning on what the right path was to take. Questioning why they had been the one to participate in the negotiations between Aodh, the Rogues, and the Flight...
The Enya Flamen surely would have been a better choice. While they knew some of Cascade, they knew some of all the gods, after all, they were dedicated to Kaia and Ignacio. The Enya Flamen would have known more of Cascade, and been able to reach out to the Rogues better than they did...
Unable to focus well enough to properly translate the braille of the book they were holding, they sighed softly, feeling the bookcase until they found the opening it had come from, and slowly slid it back into place. Ears twitching, they lifted their head, turning slightly towards the speaker. Misha? Well, that was at least something that they did not need to question.
Smiling softly, Tiresias turned to face where they thought he was. "Misha," they paused and gave a small chuckled. "It is good to 'see' you too." They nodded. "Indeed, much has," They softly replied. They simply nodded, turning around, teke resting on the bookcase next to them. "It is difficult for me to focus anyway, a break with a friend would be wonderful." They started walking down the aisle, finding the end of the shelves, and upon reaching it, they turned to the left. Teke finding a place on the flowered bushes that lined the walls of the library, and following them to the back wall, where some small plush chairs and tables rested, waiting for those who wanted to sit and read or otherwise enjoy the library and flowers in it.
Moving to one of the seats, Tiresias sat down, gently brushing over the bushes behind them until they found a flower, which they gently pulled off and cradled in their teke. "Are you well, Misha? I apologize if I haven't been able to seek you out. Things have been...Strenuous as of late." They asked. They should have had an attendant pen a letter or something of the sort... But they'd been a bit too... Worried, as of late, to think of such a thing.

He couldn't help but cringe at the others joke on the whole blindness thing. He thought it a pity and even worse - he kept forgetting it when he spoke, constantly making small jabs at the whole thing. Looking around the library, he took in the size of it all. He didn't often think about just how big it was, how much knowledge was in here. Maybe even knowledge on kirins and Ignacio, some that could be of use to Misha or at least explain what had happened.
Misha let out a small sigh of relief, barely audible, when Tiresias started walking. It was good to know, that he hadn't interrupted the Flamen in any important work. Rather, it seemed like the Flamen was troubled as well, though for a different reason, he hoped. Misha followed behind Tiresias, to some cushions near the far end of the library. Near the last place they had met, where Misha gifted Tiresias a flower. He could see that Tiresias' mind was elsewhere at the moment, maybe thinking about what bothered him. Before he could say anything, the Flamen questioned Misha's wellbeing. "No need to apologize Tiresias! It's been hectic as of late... I was sent to Opulence not long ago, you might have heard what happened there", he trailed off, feeling his bandaged wound with his teke, wincing at its sensitivity. As for Tiresias' notes on the absence of letters or words or other, Misha didn't mind. He doubt he'd have had a lot of time to even read it, with all that was going on - reporting about Opulence, being in the medics wing and unable to be of service for some time. "Kirins attacked. It was... well, I've never experienced anything like this before. Didn't get out of there unscathed either, but it's nothing too major."
He took a good look at Tiresias then. Had he ever been in fights? Felt what it was like? What was his upbringing even like? He'd have to ask about it at some point, but not now. Now was not the time for nostalgia. Instead, he focused on their conversation. "What about you Tiresias? It seems your mind is elsewhere these days", he commented. What had Tiresias been doing? Somehow, Misha had a hard time imagining Tiresias anywhere but the sanctum.

Ears pricking, Tiresias just nodded slightly. "I heard some of it, but it was difficult to discern what exactly occurred. There are many rumors and many equines talking, and it is difficult to tell who is telling the truth, and who is embellishing the story." The Flamen listened quietly, their heart aching a note as Misha spoke. He had been injured by the kirins... The kirins, who were the children of Ignacio, just as much as any of them, were attacking with the aim of wiping them out... The change of subject drew a sad smile to their mouth.
They'd ask later. But they chose to answer Misha's question now, "It is, unfortunately. Thinking of what will come..." They murmured. "...I was asked to the Palace to attend a political meeting between Aodh and... The Rogues of Talori and the Freedom's Flight..." They shook their head. "They want to go to war. They wish for us to join them, to provide aid. We have just returned from one war, and now we are being asked to join another, to join one we have no stake in..."
They paused. "I sympathize with them. I sympathize with their plight, and their goals, but... The way they wish to go about it... So many lives will be lost, so many children harmed from their actions, who I believe will rise up against them in time and start a vicious cycle of war and death... I attempted to voice my concerns but the others..." They again shook their head. "I'm sorry for burdening you with this. It is not your duty to do so. Especially while injured, Misha."
"Where were you injured?" They asked, tentatively reaching out with their teke in a soft question of asking for permission, and guidance. Misha had likely already been to a hospital, so they could not offer their aid to help, but they still wished to know where, and how badly.

He listened to the other's reply, nodding along to their words. It was true, the story of the attack had already become common news, yet most knew little of the details except those who were there. It had been truly exceptional to witness Alya, but the event itself had been horrifying and he had no intend on reliving it or experiencing it again, unless he was the one to attack. He noticed how TIresias smile seemed to falter slightly, as Misha changed the subject to focus on what TIresias was thinking about. He wondered why, but realized the Flamen was more than just a spiritual leader - they were a healer too, and as such, it would only be natural for the Flamen to be curious and slightly worried about Misha's injuries.
As Tiresias started explaining their thoughts, and as such, what they had been doing lately, Misha felt his heart drop. It didn't sound like good news. When mention of the Flight and the Rogues came up, Misha's curiosity was awoken. He knew they'd been in an alliance as of lately. Working together to... He wasn't really sure what, but it must have involved Aquore and the Talori herd somehow. Rights? Revenge? Tiresias soon answered Misha's thoughts. Another war.... He wasn't sure Aodh could take it. Sure, they were big and powerful, but all this war couldn't be good, just like Tiresias also pointed out. "Your words are no burden Tiresias. I may be injured, but that doesn't mean I can't listen and talk." He replied at first, followed by a short laugh. "However, I do agree with you. Coming back from war and back into another? It won't end well, for anyone."
When he finished speaking, he listened to Tiresias and felt the energy of their Teke approach him. "I've got plenty of smaller scars on my legs from the Antlers of the Kirins, but my worst injury is on my leg. Hooked arrows are no joke" He replied. Misha let out his own teke, which shone a glittering golden colour as it touched Tiresias's. He guided the other's teke near his bandaged leg. "It still hurts to walk, but luckily I didn't need to get anything amputated. I'll definitely have a weird limp now though, seeing as the arrow did tear up the muscle." He then explained. His wound felt tight, as it had been sewn together over the remaining muscle. He reckoned it would be fine, he just needed to train and get used to it.
"Meeting those kirins... Fighting them. Seeing them turn to dust as Alya herself rose above us and destroyed them. I've found more questions than answers since experiencing all of this." He then commented. Pausing. He didn't want to get into the details yet, there were so many of them. Tiresias had always been wise and seemed to always know what to ask, so he waited for him to stop inspecting his wound and steer the conversation. So many things had happened, so many questions he'd asked himself. Tiresias probably knew where to start, so it didn't end up being a confusing mess of details and questions.

"Help others without any reason and give without the expectation of receiving anything in return."
~ ~ ~
It was a relief to hear that at least one person was on their side... No one in the court had particularly supported them or their opinions... Isador was the only one who at least slightly took their voiced concerns under consideration, but the Eminent Sonya had... Almost been aggressive in a rebuttal towards them, and it made them uncertain and suck in a sharp breath, unsure how to reply to such sharp words, leaving them silent for the rest of the meeting and mingling that followed, trying their best with the aid of their attendant to find the soonest time to leave.
While they had trusted Isador and his judgement, they couldn't quash the small part of them that mistrusted the Rogues and Flight, that believed this was a mistake, that they were risking the life of one or more of Ignacio's sparks. They gave a soft exhale, lowering their head. "That... It means quite a lot to me to hear such things from you, Misha. Thank you," they finally said, feeling the other's teke guide their own.
Resting on Misha's leg, gently, tenderly feeling the area and finding the edge of the bandage. A hooked arrow... What drove the kirins to do such things? To attack fellow Aodhians? They were all children of Ignacio, in one way or another. Ears pricking, they lifted their head slightly. Alya? "Alya was there?" They asked. That had been one of the rumors mixed in, but it had been hard to discern what was really true, especially when it came to the mentions of the Gods. "She destroyed them?" Brows raising, a note of confusion in their voice. Alya came to smite the Kirins opposing the Aodhians...
What reasons could she have for doing such a thing? Brows then furrowing, they withdrew their teke from Misha's space. Alya wasn't particularly worshiped, and they knew even less of her specifically. She had few shrines and fewer followers. It had been said that she murdered the ancient kirins in cold blood... And now she wasn't doing it in cold blood, but doing it to protect the Aodhians who crossed paths with the kirins... "If a god appeared, why her...?" They murmured softly, mostly to themself.
Why hadn't it been Ignacio? Or perhaps Kaia, his sister? While they shouldn't question the decisions of the gods, it was certainly... Odd, that Alya was the one to appear and intervene...

He couldn't imagine what it was like, to stand in the presence of their King and to voice their opinion, and then be shut down. Or maybe being told their opinion was wrong. He wasn't sure exactly what Tiresias had been going through, meeting with the most powerful people of Aodh, the Rogues and the Flight, but it couldn't have been a calming experience. On the contrary, it must have been scary in a way. He didn't know what he'd have to say either, he hadn't thought another war would be coming if it wasn't for the two speaking in this very moment. War was... Well, it was probably inevitable, but Aodh had no part in the troubles the Rogues and the Flight were going through. As Tiresias let out his gratitude, Misha looked at them with sorrowful eyes. What had they been saying to them, since they were so grateful that Misha agreed with them? "You're welcome Tiresias," he replied softly.
While Tiresias felt the bandage on Misha's leg, he thought back on what had happened that day. Some memories were a bit fuzzy, everything had happened so quickly. He could understand Tiresias' confusion, he'd felt the same way. He didn't understand it either, why Alya had come. In the moment, he'd been too petrified to move. Too surprised to think. It wasn't until he got home, that he finally thought about it, and doubt started to manifest. He'd been blessed by Ignacio by birth, but the same God had left him to die, as his own creations had come at him to slaughter him and the other's. He couldn't understand why. "I'm afraid I can't answer that." He replied quietly, to Tiresias' words. Why Alya, and not someone else? Hell, why not Ignacio himself? "What caused me the most frustration was... Why didn't Ignacio come to save us? Any of his siblings could come to take over, I could care less whether it'd been Argus or Alya or even Cascade. But why couldn't he do it himself? The one we're supposed to praise. Who blesses us, and then this... Leaving us for dead, having his siblings take over. I don't understand it."
He felt out of breath for a moment. Confused, frustrated, but most of all, this sense that he'd been left alone. To die. Truth to be told, Alya showing up was perhaps a sign that someone wanted to help them, but what was Ignacio's role in all this? Did he even care? Perhaps he was scared of his own creations. Misha would be, and was now too. Every kirin he saw, he kept an extra eye on them. No matter what. Turned or born so, it didn't matter. He didn't know their true intentions. If they were like those in Opulence. He wouldn't trust them that easily.

"Help others without any reason and give without the expectation of receiving anything in return."

Tiresias blinked, simply dipping their head. "I'm sorry, I know you can't. None of us can, except the Gods themselves." They softly replied, twitching their ears while they listened to his thoughts. Carefully they thought, processing his words. They drew in a small breath. "They are also children of fire and ash..." The Flamen started, "they are his own, just as we are his own."
"I cannot speak for him, but I can say what I know of him." They closed their eyes. "I don't... I don't think he left you for dead. I don't think he would have wished death on his children, regardless of which side they are on. I cannot imagine what it would be like to try and turn a blade on one's own child, despite mercy sometimes taking the form of a knife..." They paused, if only for a moment, "and yet... To imagine a God being unwilling to do such a thing? That seems... Impossible to imagine."
"They're supposed to be perfect beings, to have a lack of flaws that are unlike our own. I don't imagine he could be afraid, like we are?" Tiresias ventured, brows furrowing. "It is... Troubling... He is still granting blessings, to my knowledge, so he has not abandoned us. But still, he would not appear to those in most need... If he had appeared, perhaps maybe his children wouldn't have needed to be slaughtered, on either side... But that sounds like cowardice... He can't be that."
Tiresias fell silent for a moment, shaking their head. "I'm sorry to drop my musings on you. I fear that while my position and role is to be listener for the Gods, to forward their word to the people, this is yet beyond my knowledge... I do not know why he did not appear." They shifted in their seat, opening their eyes. They were supposed to have ascended to a higher plane, to be able to touch the Starscape, to be able to listen and hear from the Gods themselves... And yet...
It made them fearful of their abilities. Fearful that they were failing Aodh, failing the people. Shouldn't they have answers for this? To be able to answer the questions and worries that were brought to them? If they couldn't do that, then... They didn't want to think of it. They had enough weighing on their mind, on their soul. They needed time to reflect, time to pray, to ask for guidance... Later. They could do that later.

Misha listened to TIresias. Tiresias had more knowledge on the concept of Gods than Misha might ever get in his life, so if anyone could have a clue, it'd probably be him. And yet, even Tiresias seemed stumped on what was going on. It was true, they were Ignacio's children, just as the kirins were. He understood what Tiresias meant. Slaughtering your children, as a God or as a parent, it was probably awful. But if it was better for those children to cease to exist, then surely, that would have been better, would it not? It was then, that Tiresias said something, that struck a cord with Misha. Something that might make sense, despite how twisted it felt. If it was true, he wasn't sure that's what he wanted to be the truth. Then he'd rather be left for dead by his God, rather than.. Rather than living with the thought that a God could be afraid.
He thought back on what had happened, the words Alya had uttered while destroying the kirins. "It's scary to.. to imagine that Ignacio might be scared of his own children, the kirins. But Alya seemed furious. Saying that the kirins couldn't destroy the world, that they couldn't rise to destroy "me and mine" again. Whatever that means... But she also said to us, "you will make things right"" He told Tiresias. It was confusing. He hadn't thought too deeply of it. What it had meant. Threaten me and mine. Who was she talking about? They weren't her children, maybe Ruby was, but they weren't hers. They belonged to Ignacio. And the word again. A nod back to the God's War? Perhaps so. Yet, he shouldn't ponder too much about it. He was more desperate to hear what Ignacio's role was, why he'd let Alya strike them. But perhaps it was foolish of him to doubt his God. Yes, surely Ignacio would scold him, if he knew. He shouldn't doubt a God. The Kirins, on the other hand. He'd doubt them until he was sure not all were the same. It scared him that a Kirin was with the King. What if she was the same?
"Perhaps we're better off to ponder about other things. Not to meddle in the affairs of the Gods, when they can't give us an answer." He looked to the floor for a moment. Better to talk about something else. Tiresias knew about the Gods, but he'd wondered why Kaia was their patron. Obviously, they were both unicorns and in a sense her children. Still though, Misha's own upbringing had been focused on Ignacio entirely. "Speaking of the Gods... You're very close to Kaia. Well, you're a Flamen of the Sanctum that is dedicated to her too, but why?" The question held a lot of curiosity. And a path to more questions and answers. He wanted to get to know the Flamen better. TIresias had already spent time looking into Misha's history, but had anyone asked about theirs? Or was it just an endless stream of problems and troubles. What was it even like, to be everyone's therapist and doctor? He only knew the life of a chevalier, where problems were easier to solve. More concrete problems, less philosophical.
