MingNo footprints on the trail for you to follow in the tracks For you to make it there you have to leave without the map A frustrated grunt escaped her lips as she flung the sword away from her. This was absolutely useless. She was absolutely useless, she thought bitterly, before taking a seat down on some old stump, leaving herself to ponder. She should have someone to train her, but she wasn't as bold or brave as the others. Didnt have many lining up to train some half wit slave. Ammy got a gun, and was practicing that. Ming, well she got a sword, and she looked a tthe stupid thing, sticking her tongue out it, before looking elsewhere.
Ming was not a fighter, she had no training in it, and even a slight sword felt heavy in her teke, she was spoiled she realized living out her. A spoiled slave, but spoiled nonetheless. Ming instead took a shaky breath standing back up, she lifted the awkward thing and took a whack at the stump she was just sitting on.
Thud Thud Thud
"Ow!" she hissed as small chunk of wood seemed to attack her back. "Ughhh." she grumbled a bit shaking her head, what was the point of this? It wasn't like she was going to get picked for a mission or anything.. It wasn't as if she was a fighter. Ming huffed and looked at the sword sadly.

Thuds of metal on wood echoed out from the training area in the Fort. Adari watched, bandages wrapping up her newly-amputated leg, hobbling along as best she could on three legs. Looking down from her post on watch, she saw Ming, the spotted unicorn, practicing with her newly acquired short sword and, in her humble opinion, doing a rather awful job at it.
She saw another Vindicator on watch with her, and nodded to them. She had been instructed to take breaks off of her feet as often as she needed to, which seemed like every fifteen gods-damned minutes. And yes, while the stump was aching, she could still do something useful with her time off of her hooves. The Vindicator returned the nod, and she descended carefully down the hill.
"Your form is off," she said, though not unkindly. A small wince as she settled on a stump next to the smaller mare, her ears flicking back and forth. She was never one to be cruel, but she wouldn't go out of her way to be kind and sweet. It wasn't how she did things. Besides, she found that sometimes, tough love worked better. "Your weapon should always feel like an extension of her body. You shouldn't throw it around like a toy."
A grunt escaped her as she stood once more, hobbling over to the other Vindicator. "In addition, your stamina could use some work." Was she being too harsh? Probably. She shouldn't be that harsh. "Your main asset is always going to be speed. You're small and fast. Your weapon should match that."
She went over to the cache of new weapons that had cost her her leg to retrieve. She pulled out a small rapier, a blade made for speed and quick slashings, rather than brute force like Ming's sword. "Try this one on for size. You'll have to change your fighting style, but it will suit you better."
Royal blue teke grabbed the short sword, and passed over the rapier. "This sword is a rapier. It won't be able to parry blows from longswords, but since you're not very strong, you wouldn't be able to parry a blow with that amount of strength behind it, anyway. This is made to go in, strike, and get out. Speed is everything."
She smiled then, and sat herself back down on the stump. Her bones groaned a little at the movement, and the stump ached. A little blood seeped through the bandages- time to change them and check the sutures. "Wail on that tree over there. I'll keep an eye on you while I check my bandages and sutures."

MingNo footprints on the trail for you to follow in the tracks For you to make it there you have to leave without the map Head swirled to the side as someone began to talk to her. Adari, and she looked the mare sadly, eyeing the leg that had been lost. Ming was lucky in her own fight, well more defending hen fighting. Still she was in the middle of it and stood on her own, that was something right?
Ming snorted a bit as Adari spoke to her, and felt the nagging feeling of being in the presence of her former Master Deidra. Nothing was ever good enough and while Ming understood there was room for improvement, Ming would prefer not to feel belittled in the process of her trying to be something worth wild.
"No one has taken time out to really train me..." she remarked with a defeated sigh, looking away shamefully. Ming had wondered if this was how all former slaves we treated, and wondered how many slaves stayed to fight. "Im trying..." she muttered under her breath looking to the mare.
Yet as she brought up perhaps a different weapon would be better suited for her, she felt her spirit rise up. A smile on her face, as maybe this was her chance to get trained a bit, to be good at a fight. Something she could show Ammy and Rosie what she can do. Ming tried her best to nod, to act like she understood it all. But slaves were not trained to fight and Ming had never really held much of a weapon. She was well, a defender. With her pink force fields, it was what she had done. Given by Ignaico she assumed she had earned favor and it to be a calling for her in the future.
"Okay I can do that!" she nodded vigorously, eager to learn. She took the rapier and was happy that it felt lighter and easier in her teke. A large smile grew on her face as she looked at Adari, already pleased with it all and forgetting merely about their first impression of each other. "Right over here right?" she asked edging closer to the tree, feeling a bit nervous in front of her. Though she had to try to learn right. Ming gave it a few whacks and jabs and snorted, looking to Adari for some sense of approval from the mare.

Royal blue teke wrapped around the bandage, peeling it back to reveal tight sutures. Nothing had ripped, it was just a little bloody fluid leaking from the wound. She'd have to keep an eye on that- she didn't want it to get infected. She quickly applied a paste that she had been given to numb the pain and keep infection away before re-wrapping the stump in fresh bandages.
Her task complete, she looked up again, watching the form of the young mare. It was crude, yes, but it showed incredible promise. And, if she remembered correctly, Ming was blessed by her God with Force Fields. With a blessing like that, in addition to improved form... she could be unstoppable.
"Good," she called out, stopping the ex-slave in the middle of her exercises. She picked up her dagger, a six-inch blade. It wasn't good against many weapons, but she could use it to parry the blows from an inexperienced rapier user. She twirled it in the air once, letting it fly and then catching it again in her teke. "Your form is decent, for a beginner. Work on that, and with your Blessing of Force Fields, you could be an unstoppable fighter." A small smile, a nod of the head. Ming could truly be a good Soldier for the cause- maybe even an Elite one day.
"What I want you to do next is come at me- I'll parry any blows you dish out. Treat it as a dance- your weapon requires grace and fluidity. Your goal is to back me up until my back is against the wall." She nodded at the dirt embankment behind her. "Use your attacks to move me where you want me to be- like a herding dog moving a herd of goats. My goal-" she studied her student's grasp on the weapon- "is to either back you into a corner, or to disarm you." Another nod. An ear flicked back to the wall, listening to the small talk there. "Don't worry about hurting me- I'll survive. My only request is that you avoid hurting the- ah... stump. It's still healing."
She gently lowered herself into a ready position, holding her dagger in front of her, ready to push back against the other's advances.
"Don't worry if you don't succeed the first time out. We all have to start from somewhere. Use your Blessing if you need to, alright?" A smile- it became almost a smirk with how much confidence was behind it- and she readied herself. This was going to be fun.

MingNo footprints on the trail for you to follow in the tracks For you to make it there you have to leave without the map Ming held herself still as Adari began to speak once more to her. A smile growing on her lips, so she wasn't as hopeless as she thought! She'd have to tell her friends, there was still some hope for her! "Thank you, I want to do my part too. Last time out, all I could do was use my force shields. Im really good at it though." With the praise from Adari, she felt her cheeks grow hot, and she smiled all the more to herself. She was more then a slave, then some taste taster whos life met less then another. Especially the King.
Adari mentioned of Ming coming at her to fight and suddenly her cheeks were no longer flushed and she gulped nervously. She could barely handle whacking a stump, was lunging at someone the best idea. "Are you sure?" she asked her confidence taking a nose dive as she looked at the weapon in her pink teke and gulped.
It seemed Adari was pretty certain that they would spare, and Ming nodded weakly, she had a bad feeling, she'd be leaving this training session with bruises and a deep need for a nap. Ming nodded weakly as Adari mentioned of no shame in not doing well the first time, well that at least feel the tiniest bit better. Eyes watched as Adari seemed to ready themselves. Ming took in a few deep breaths, giving herself a mini pep talk in her mind. You can do this, there is no shame in getting your ass kicked. She is a trained professional, you are a professional eater, you're gonna eat dirt, but that's okay. So maybe she wasn't the best at pep talks, but she readied herself nonetheless.
Ming narrowed her eyes focusing on the weapon in hand, swirling it a bit trying to remember it needs to feel like and extension of her own body. She snorted and move fast towards the mare, a flash of pink shined as a shield went up over her head as she tried to slash on the side. Predictable move, but how was she to know.

She saw the Soldier's move coming from a mile away. The flash of pink Force Fields, the quick dash for Adari's side. Her bravery was commendable, but going for her flank was too obvious a move. She'd go with it, though- had to give her student a glimmer of hope, at least.
Pulling on her Blessing, she crafted an illusion. In it, she stayed put, turning just too late to block the blow she sent, setting a small stream of blood down her side. The fake Adari yelped then, examining the wound, a hunger for vengeance, combined with equal parts pride in her eyes. The fake dagger flipped once in royal blue teke as the other Adari readied again and charged.
But reality was different. She actually just moved out of the way, coming around to Ming's side and letting the illusion fall just as she swung her dagger down- not with enough force to truly harm, just make a small cut at worst, and trim some hairs at best. Indeed, she switched the angle of the blade so that the worst Ming would get if she failed to stop the blow in time was a bruise.
Ming's form was good, though, she had to admit. Her weapon did look more like an extension of herself, and her speed was good. Pride swelled in Adari- Ming truly would be great, with some time and effort.
Now Adari would see if Ming could see through the trick.
