rezon Water lapped with resounding slaps against the side of the ship, a rhythmic thudding that eased the stallion's growing nerves. It was the all too familiar song of their Wave Mother, and absentmindedly he found himself murmuring a prayer to Cascade for that day.
With Her favour and perhaps just a little dash of luck, there was a chance they would walk away from today very well off indeed.
Rezon ripped his eyes from the frothing water to dart instead amongst the assembled crew, sizing up the individuals around him. A tall stallion, standing at nearly 18hh, he towered over most of them, a gleaming coat of chestnut set ablaze by the afternoon sun. Having only known them all a short time Rezon found they were difficult to read, but he hoped they were as curious as he was as to what lay below them in the ancient city. It was the opportunity of a lifetime; and he never was one to allow chances slip past him.
There was an unmistakable gleam of excitement in his eyes as he turned to address them, his thundering voice raised to be heard over the call of the ocean.
"We should start preparing to descend into the water. It's been several months since anything has happened around here so the water should be fine, but never hurts to be prepared."
Somewhere deep below them, Kiephis simmered silently, abandoned- and ripe for the taking..1

Willow;Talori | Pirate I wouldn't close my eyes if I were you... Seafoam fins trembled excitedly with the potential of the day ahead of Willow. Whispers had certainly circulated the Isles of Dead in quiet bursts of opportunity, but so far none had been game enough to attempt the likely dangerous waters of the once proud underwater city.
With such a rapid response of evacuation of Kiephis, there was bound to be an abundance of deserted treasures below the waves. Knowing how slack the Mainland was, it was highly unlikely anyone from there was even thinking about entering the broken city to do anything about rebuilding it. So it was for the rogues taking and Willow was not going to shy away from such a grand opportunity. Anyway, after getting over being abandoned for the second time in her life, Willow had a ridiculous amount of time on her hooves. There wouldn't be a sliver of thought for joining a crew permanently for a long time yet. She scoffed at the other pirates before her, including a captain. The chumps would have to give everything to the crew to be divided up, but Willow? Everything she found was hers for the taking and for no one else.
So here she was, Salem mistifying and solidifying, growling by her side with equal excitement for action. Willow took in the delicious rogue that had gathered her and some of the crew of the Setting Sun together and hoped she could perhaps keep up relations once they were finished here. "Have anything planned after this adventure, pirate?" She asked him purely for some fun, she was enjoying being alone for that at least. No one to tie her down (unless she asked for it, of course), she was free to do whatever she pleased with whoever she pleased.
At the word of the tantalising rogue, Willow secured her short sword and tightened her saddlebags, ready to gather as much as she could carry with Salem doing his fair share of work too. Assuming there were no more words to come from the rogue, Willow dived into the water with Salem following suit. "Well, let's get on with it, we're losing daylight!" She called to the slowcoaches back on the boat with a cheeky grin on her face.

When word got around about Kiephis and the accident that had occured, Sunil didn't give it a second thought. He hadn't spent much time there nor had he any ties to the place. True, it was sad to see any accident occur to a city like Kiephis, but there wasn't more to it for Sunil. Not until word got round, after months and months, that Kiephis was a special place. Whispers that told him, that he should seek it out, see if there was more to it than just a sunken city. Look for treasure, like they were meant to do. So when Sunil caught word of treasures to take, he told his crew and took Ciaran and Conrad with him. No doubt about it, if there was a chance there'd be treasure, they had to go check it out. Hopefully, the water would be fine.
As he met up with Ciaran and Conrad, he took note of the other two who'd be joining them. A stallion, whose name had slipped his mind - and perhaps wasn't so important anyways, and a mare he hadn't been introduced to either. The stallion prompted for them to go into the water. Grinning at both his crew members, Sunil made sure his short sword was close to him, and then looked over the waters, to see if his hydra was nearby. It'd probably be handy, should anything come or if something went wrong. He also had a tightly-knit new around him, so he could carry things with him.
Ciaran and Conrad looked about as ready as could be, so Sunil took the plunge and went in to the waters, feeling how his body shifted and transformed at his will. Whatever they found down there, they could keep, share or do with as they pleased. Most of it, anyways. If it was something special, they'd talk about what to do with it. No one knew that they'd find down there, whether it'd be useful, dangerous or just worth a lot of money.
"See you down there, boys!"

CIARAN of the Setting Sun Cascade be damned if Sunil had let them skip this opportunity. Kiephis, abandoned and ripe for pickings. Who knew what lay down there? Ciaran's dorsal fin rippled with excitement as the boat carved through the swell, settling above what he could only assume was their destination. He'd been all too eager to accompany Sunil and Conrad, but once he saw the other two equines he couldn't help but grind his teeth. They were Hippocampi at least, but having them along for the ride meant less for the Setting Sun, and less for him. After listening to the chestnut stallion's brief spiel - and grazing over his suggestion to prepare - Ciaran leapt into the frigid waters after Sunil, sparing Conrad a sidelong glance as he cleared the balustrade. He didn't bother taking off his earrings, why should he? They'd been through worse than a little ocean swell, he was sure. Shifting into his alternate form, the stallion gave himself a shake, plunging down towards the crumbled remains of the marine city. He caught a glimmer of the mare's bicolour hippocampus form as she darted away, and eyed Sunil. He'd split off from the others, give himself some more room to work. Sunil won't care, he decided. Conrad: Talori Pirate
The stallion was more than ready to jump into the waters as Sunil came into view, his hooves tapping nervously on the deck as he glanced at Ciaran and the other two. He rose a brow slightly at the mare and her flirtation, but didn't necessarily feel it was needed to speak up about it. They did need to get moving, though the shipwright was less than thrilled at the thought of jumping in ahead of his captain. However, in this moment he was more than excited to get things moving. After all, he had taken quite the hiatus after The Huntress had disappeared, and this was his first time back on a ship in some months.
He had missed this, and as Sunil and the others jumped in, Conrad quickly followed behind, his dragonfish form hitting the water with a solid splash as he dove downwards. He hadn't gone on an expedition like this in some time, and even now he couldn't help but feel some form of nervous hope as the talk of trade and alliances died down and the rush of the water filled his ears.
Quietly, he followed behind his captain, wishing to keep close to the Stallion who had given him a purpose again. Sure, the others would be important to interact with as well, but for now, Conrad wanted to focus on what he felt was important, and after losing one captain at sea, he wasn't entirely ready to see another one go. He just hoped the water was indeed safe.

Rezon | Rogue | Stallion
A voice caught his attention, and Rezon swiveled to glance at the speaker. Seaform green eyes sparkled back at him, and Rezon allowed himself a warm chuckle at the question.
"Now that really depends on how lucky we are today. I could certainly use my own ship, though," he added wistfully, a gleam returning to his eyes.
Without a glance backwards or another word, several of the crew shot into the water. Rezon couldn't help the soft chuckle that bubbled up in his throat. Clearly they were just as eager as he to explore the abandoned city, and who was he to deny them?
Pausing only momentarily to secure the dagger at his side and adjust the treated leather straps of his mostly emptied saddlebags, Rezon gathered himself and dove alongside them into the water. Instantly, the sounds of the world above faded away as he sunk into the cool water, fins appearing as the ocean swept around him. This was their realm, and he allowed himself to sink for a few moments before his powerful tail propelled him forward to rejoin the others.
"We've gotten pretty close with the ship, so it shouldn't be far from here," he called to them, eyes straining to see the depths of the ocean floor.
A clear sky offered them wane light as they plunged downwards. Within minutes the outline of Kiephis' cityscape became visible, imposing spires rising strikingly from the ocean floor.
"The Temple of the Ancients is supposed to be one of the oldest temples, right smack dab in the middle of the city," Rezon whispered excitedly to the nearest person willing to listen. "You have to wonder if there was anything left behind with the evacuation."

Willow;Talori | Pirate I wouldn't close my eyes if I were you... Willow was more than pleased with the Stallion's response. It had been a few months now since she had spent a night alone and she didn't plan on stopping now.
Enjoying the feel of the waves lapping against her now scaled body, Willow watched as the others dived in, each shifting to their water form, ready for whatever may come this day. Diving below the depths, Willow was comfortable, yet still a little astounded at the beauty of Cascade's oceans. There was something threatening yet powerful about looking forward and only seeing blue, different shades, but all one entity, hiding so many things, dangerous and awe-inspiring. Getting out of her head, Willow quickly swam to catch up with their guide. Following his gaze, Willow felt a rush of adrenaline as the sight of the ancient, typically untouchable city came into view. Oh the treasures that would lie there.
Willow found herself pleasantly surprised when one of the crew members began trailing closely behind her. "I hope you're not expecting to swindle me, Pirate. I may look innocent, but I am cutthroat." She called back to him with a wink accompanied with a low growl from Salem by her side.
"You have to wonder if there was anything left behind with the evacuation." She heard the Rogue whisper next to her. "Equines that have lived comfortably here for years with no issues? There's a guaranteed abundance of treasures left deserted by the panicked fools. A few pretty paintings here and certainly some nice fine jewellery to adorn myself there." It was going to be a good day for pickings, Willow could just feel it. Ignoring a slight tingle of fear that also sat there.

As Sunil felt the ocean shift around him, he looked in awe at the scenery unfolding beneath him. Not only Kiephis, which was a wonder all on its own, but also just the vast beauty of the Ocean, wild and free just like their goddess, who he'd been lucky to be blessed by. Looking around, he saw Ciaran diving on his own. Sunil didn't mind, it was wiser to split up, seeing more of the city and finding more treasure. Besides, he could see Conrad closing in on him, keeping close to the Captain. He wondered why for a second, before remembering Ceto. It hit him like a wave then, that Conrad wanted to keep Sunil close, to make sure nothing happened as with his previous captain. He looked back, smiling crookedly at Conrad, before propelling forward.
Their guide, Rezon, mentioned the temple, which he definitely wouldn't mind checking out. Rolling his eyes slightly at the mare's comments, Sunil wondered more about what kind of treasure he'd find. Rare and hard-to-get items, maybe even magical ones. There had to be more down here, other than just valuables. "Now that Ciaran has split, it's just you and me. What kind of magical things do you think will be down there?" He turned around to ask the black stallion, before turning his sight on the city they were closing in on. The towering structures, all empty and dark, warning them of the disaster that had been there. The water was fine, but it did irritate his skin a bit. Luckily, this was nothing a good healer or laic couldn't help them with, when they'd eventually return.

Conrad - Pirate
There was a certain familiarity with the water that put Conrad at ease. Despite it's potential poison and the dangers ahead, he couldn't help but feel more than a little excited to finally be diving down into the darkness. The great city that once had been inhabited by the equines of Talori's main herd was a hard opportunity to say no to, and the stallion was more than positive that there was a way for him to get a hold of more than just a few goodies. He smiled easily before taking note that Sunil was talking to him.
"From what I understand, the city was pretty bustling, so I think we'll find more than enough loot to keep us busy." He responded, taking note that the water was beginning to feel awkward on his coat. He shrugged it off, knowing full well that it'd be easy enough to fix going forward. "As far as it goes, I was thinking it'd be best to check the buildings out... The ones that aren't completely destroyed may have quite a bit of loot hiding within... What do you think?" He kicked his legs out for a few moments as he thought. Oh, it was so great to be back out at sea!

Rezon | Rogue | Stallion
Rezon allowed himself another hearty chuckle, turning lazily in the water to glance up at Willow.
"With a bit of luck we'll all have heavier coin purses tonight, my dear," he commented, shooting a grin and a wink at the two crew members behind him. "No need to fight."
He whirled again to return his gaze to the quickly approaching expanse of city. Spires raised almost menacingly from the ocean floor, and it would be difficult for anyone to miss the building rising from the ocean floor. Built to sustain the almost exclusively hippocampus population, with the exception of a few Cascade blessed individuals, Kiephis was a grand city indeed. Though lacking in it's normal populace, it was clearly not completely devoid of life. The coral foundation remained after the incident, and it seemed that some fish and sea critters had entered the city, perhaps even taking over the homes that had once belonged to the evacuated residents. Their presence put Rezon's mind somewhat at ease; the water couldn't be that toxic, if the local wildlife had begun to flit back around the city.
Already the others had begun to form smaller groups, no doubt in an attempt to cover more ground; and perhaps more easily pocket a few treasures they didn't wish to share.
"Give a shout if you run into trouble or find something good!" Rezon bellowed out to the figures darting out of his sight. "We can meet back at city square!"
Rezon shook his head, his fins catching the current as the others moved away. Whether or not they had heard him, it didn't matter- he had no doubt they'd find their way back to the ship eventually. The city was nearly upon them, and with excitement bubbling into his chest, Rezon dove towards the nearest buildings. If his memory served him, the outskirts of the city were mainly comprised of housing districts. In all likeliehood, they would have few more treasures than any home above the ground; no, he was quite certain the true prizes were located closer to the Temple and the Overseer's district. With a powerful beat of his tail he took off into the city, ignoring the outlying homes in favour of going deeper into the city.

Willow;Talori | Pirate I wouldn't close my eyes if I were you... Willow had to admit she very much enjoyed this chestnut Rogue's easy banter, she couldn't hold back a grin at the fortuitous day! Swimming deeper into the depths, she did feel the joy falter for just a moment. She had never had a home of her own on land. Personally, she didn't really want one either. How tame and mundane, expecting the same thing day in and day out. Blegh. But perhaps if she had one, she would feel deep sorrow at having to depart from it in a rush. Ah well she thought to herself, the greed taking over, more riches for me. F
Winking at Rezon in acknowledgement of the meeting place, Willow split off, personally wanting to head towards the home of the merchants wanting to see what fresh goods they had dropped a plenty before delving through hippocampi's homes. She had also heard whispers of great potions and wanted to see what she could pick up. Something stronger than alcohol might be a lovely change of pace and to sell the rest, of course.
There was the slightest sensation of apprehension within the pit of her stomach, but she threw thoughts of it away, Salem was sure to warn her of any danger before she had witnessed it. To the Merchant's district!

Sunil thought about Conrad's words, before giving him a nod. Definitely better to check out the less wasted buildings. He had no idea what to expect yet, but hoped for rare relics or some uncommon weapons or other, that he could keep or sell. Sunil looked to Rezon, who proposed they met back at the city square later, and to give a shout if anything happened or if they found something good. At the last part, Sunil gave Conrad a grin. He wasn't eager to share, especially not if they found something out of the ordinary.
Taking a look back at the fastly approaching city, with Conrad near him, he was quick to notice that some buildings looked different, or at least a little more well-polished, despite the damage they had taken. "What do you say, we take a look at the merchant's district or the temple? Your call Conrad!" He grinned, shooting the other stallion a wink. Swimming faster, he enjoyed the feeling of diving deep, having fun with the underwater currents and the schools of fish around him.

Conrad - Pirate
The stallion faltered lightly at the wink, warmth flooding his cheeks for a moment before he chuckled and swam forward, darting past his captain. He wasn't sure which one was a better offer though, as both the temple and the merchant district could offer good items. He paused, thinking of the wave mother and her gift that he now held so dear. "I think the Temple is a reasonable start. Especially if we can sell any totems or items relating to cascade to our people on the isles... It's not every day you can say you get something from the temple in Keiphis."
It was a greedy move, he knew, but that didn't stop the swell of satisfaction he felt at the idea of holding something that was once so dear to the main herd in his possession. Maybe it was from his time around Ceto, but he definitely wasn't as happy with the mainlanders as the rest of his family, especially now with all of the news that had been trickling in. Without a further word, he continued on, trying his best to remember the parts of maps they had kept to look at before they set off on this mission.
If anything, the crew of the Setting Sun were in luck. At least, Conrad hoped that'd be the case.

Rezon | Rogue | Stallion
Rezon threw a glance over his shoulder as he watched the remaining crew split up, dashing off to the various districts Kiephis housed. Hopefully they wouldn't travel too far; some of the refugees may have had the good sense to lock up their homes and businesses, in the hopes that they may one day return to the city. The Overseer's home in particular he was concerned with getting into; but he could face that once he found it.
Although good sense told him the best loot lay further in, curiosity overpowered Rezon and he found himself drawn to a few homes along the way. His eyes scoured the modestly furnished houses, throwing open cupboards and rummaging through dressers.
Though crystal shards were far and few between in Talori, artifacts and valuables were a plenty. Jewelry, golf, and family heirlooms were all to be expected in the abandoned homes; after all, they had received little notice when the evacuation order came. Their priorities did not lay in the possessions they owned.
With his saddle bags a little heavier, Rezon doubled down on his course; determined to be one of the first to reach the Temple and Overseer's District, lest they be stripped of any valuables by the time he got there. Although he trusted he would receive a cut of whatever they found on this journey, he was not so naive as to assume his newfound companions were above pocketing a few items here and there.
So intent on his mission, Rezon did not heed the unusual, almost oppressive stillness that had descended over the city. It hung, waiting; not unlike the heaviness that charged the air just before a thunderstorm unleashed on the land. Even the sea life seemed to have fled, leaving the city deserted, lifeless.
Any other day, Rezon may have found it odd, even unnerving; yet any other day, he also wasn't privy to the treasures that lay in wait in the depths of Kiephis.

CIARAN of the Setting Sun He didn't really have any plans as he split from his captain and crew-mate, but he did know that he wanted to get his hooves on anything valuable. And anything valuable would be very readily snatched up by any of the equines he was with. Peeling off towards one of the larger spires, he cast his gaze back, watching as the rest swerved in different directions. Eager to snag something for themselves, no doubt. Only Sunil and Conrad remained together, and it looked like they were making their way to the main Temple of Kiephis. He thought he caught a brief, muffled cry of their meeting point, should they find anything. The city square? He'd find it eventually. Surely it had to be recognisable if it was the main square, so it couldn't be that hard to find it when he was finished. Weaving through nooks and crannies and various rooms in nearby buildings, a slight prickle crept along his skin. Something was starting to feel off, but he couldn't place what. Turning over rubble and opening cabinets, he managed to find about a tekeful of trinkets and small jewellry pieces. He'd need to either find a bag or grab something makeshift if he was going to try and pull a better haul. WC: 212Post #2

!
The city is quiet, almost too quiet. As you swim about, taking trinkets here and there, looking for something especially worth your time, you hear something. At first, it is so amorphous, so strange a sound that you liken it to a ghost, a spirit, perhaps one of those sirens.
And the sirens are certainly a danger. Now that you are listening more closely, you can recognize their haunting song, but it is passive. It isn't directed towards you, not right now. Realizing this, you brush the noises off. If anything, it is merely something ambient. Sirens are really only dangerous when you are not already underwater.
But, the longer you swim, the longer you look around, the more on edge you get. When, suddenly, as loud as a cracking whip. "HEY!" That is a mortal voice. You look up, and clear as day, in sparkling armor, there is a guardian. The symbol on his chest-piece marks him as disaster response, but even then, you know he's been trained on how to deal with criminals.
And... you are a criminal, seeing as you are looting Mainlander homes. There are three guardians alongside the one that spoke, making four in total. All of them seem vastly more prepared for an altercation than you are. Glittering swords and a fancy crossbow already leveled towards you. "IN THE NAME OF THE LAW, STOP!" Another shouts.
Stopping means arrest, and arrest at these trying times is not good. Who knows what the Crown would do in order to get information about the Alliance's movements. Who knows how the Admiral would retaliate to ensure her plans remain safeguarded.
No, you cannot stop. But, if it comes to a fight, you cannot lure the sirens closer, and you cannot allow them to target the weakest link amongst you. These are trained guardians, and though few in number, they've spent their lives preparing for this.
Oh no. It's best if you find somewhere to hide, or dive deeper into the city and corner one of them.

As Sunil swam closer to the city, he listened to Conrad's reply. "The Temple it is! Bet there's some good stuff in there, maybe even relics or ancient weapons!" He replied back, grinning wildly at Conrad, before closing in on the temple. He took a moment to just listen to the abandoned city, noticing the ruins but also the few magnificent structures that were still standing. At its best, this city had been a masterpiece, now turned into nothing but a ruin. As they got closer, the silence seemed deafening, yet something lured beneath the surface. A mere whisper or a rustle of something swimming in the distance, Sunil couldn't quite place it. However, as time passed, the sounds got louder and he realised that they were about to be in trouble. It didn't help, that shortly after, he heard someone yell at them from above.
Still enthralled by the singing of the sirens, it took Sunil a moment to realise, that the voice wasn't Conrad's, Ciaran's nor Rezon's or the lass'. When he turned around, his eyes were met by four guardians, coming for them. Looking to Conrad, Sunil gave it some thought, not wanting to waste time by frantically swimming away. The Sirens were below, and the Guardians above. He wasn't going to drown that easily, so he didn't need to worry too much about Sirens, he reckoned. Now, the guardians were a whole other story. He had his short sword on him, as well as his hydra nearby. Hopefully, it could sense that something was off, that there were too many in the water compared to before. "Conrad! He's still here, however, I propose we make a run for the temple, and hope he swoops in and create a distraction. Making it to the temple might give us time to regroup and figure out what to do." He called out for Conrad, trying his hardest not to yell, lest the guardians figured out that he was not another hippocampus, but a hydra coming for them in the distance.
"Ah, Guardians! We would stop in the name of the law, but we've got another problem on our hooves. Sirens, deep below. We're simply here to see what's become of Kiephis" He called out, shooting the guardians a grin. He was just glad, that he hadn't taken anything yet and that the word of Sirens might make the guardians stop for a moment. Not wasting another moment, Sunil turned around and made a run for it, swimming as fast as he could, trying to reach the temple and hoping someone would follow. He had a short sword and a hydra, he was not going to go out that easily!

Willow;Talori | Pirate I wouldn't close my eyes if I were you... Filling her saddlebags, Willow was having the time of her life. Humming to herself while Salem sniffed around seeing if there was anything of interest for himself.
Then her fins began to tingle, and Willow knew something was up. Salem had abandoned his corner with the good smells and was in a doorway lowly growling. Swishing her way to the entrance, Willow heard a dreaded sound she had encountered not all that long ago. Sirens. Glaring and baring her teeth (all too similar to Salem) Willow kept her ears alert as she tried to locate their position. Bastards always ruining a good time. Then more interruptions took her attention as she heard yelling up above. Eyes widened as the Guardians came into view.
"In the name of the law. Stop!" She heard them yell roughly in her direction. "Not my law." She muttered quietly to herself before hearing Sunil making cheeky remarks back at them. His death. She thought to herself before slipping into her invisible state, keeping herself close to the walls and 'busier' areas to blend the bubbles in. She knew he would, but still Willow looked to Salem and was pleased to barely see the Gytrash. He was certainly a sly pirate's best companion.
Knowing that she had better chances of escape than most, Willow thought she'd make her way slyly to the Square, just to check out what else was going on. Perhaps to provide a little Invisible coverage to an equine or two, for a price of course.

Rezon | Rogue | Stallion
A prickle rose along his skin as the haunting sound of the sirens called out, a reminder of the danger that lurked in the depths of the ocean. Although he knew their song was of most danger to those that did not possess Cascade's touch, he could not shake the eerie sensation that followed in their wake.
Drawing close to the entrance of the Chief Overseer's home, Rezon bent to examine the door that barricaded him from whatever was held within. The building itself was grander than the outlying homes, and he supposed it made sense that the security was built to match. The more he looked, the less convinced he was of being capable of getting through on his own.
There was a sound of movement just behind him, and so close to their designated meeting spot, Rezon could only assume his companions had at last caught up to him.
"Hey!" Rezon called behind him with a distracted glance over his shoulder, "I could use some help with this do--"
His speech cut out abruptly as he turned, realizing that the individual behind him was decidedly not a fellow Rouge. For a heartbeat, Rezon found himself dumbfounded as the uniformed Guardian angrily approached before his better sense kicked in. In an instant he was gone, a strong thrust from his tail propelling him away from the imposing squadron and back into the depths of the city. Perhaps there, between the twisting roads and jutting buildings, he could lose them.
They would need to leave, and soon; but for that, he really needed the crew.
Rezon's head whipped around wildly as he swam, alert for even a shudder of movement that would suggest he was not alone- whether friend or foe.

Conrad - Pirate
The stallion nodded, quickly working through the waters alongside his captain. It was strange, swimming through such an empty city. The sound of sirens lifted up through the shadows, forcing the stallion to give a slight wince. He could only hope that they didn't engage the group, wherever they were. The last thing he wanted to do was spill blood in such a sacred city, even if he did dislike how the equines of the mainland treated his kind. He had always thought that their rules and ideals were too much to handle, and just as his mind began to wander towards how many horses once lived here, he heard their voices.
Guardians.
Anger welled up in him. It was quite frustrating to find that their plan to loot the place had been shot down by horses who couldn't just let the past go. Sunil's response emboldened the stallion, giving him reason to swim forward to catch up to his comrade. His hulking weight would at least give the group some sense of danger to the dumb horses. Without a word, he loomed, waiting to see what the next move was.
It seemed the others had taken notice as well. "Be prepped for an attack, Captain."

! The Rogues seemed to choose one of two routes. Either attempt to blend in and escape mostly unnoticed, or draw all of the attention to themselves. And, that was all well and fine. The Guardians had been searching the city for well over an hour, and though the prickling sensation from the water and the shortness of breath had increased, so too had their ire. Ire for Igancio, who would bring such a blight upon their waters, and ire for themselves. They had not been there to rescue everyone, and the loss of life in the ancient city was still catastrophic, even considering the amount that had been able to evacuate. But, even if their anger boils towards themselves, even the gods, now that they're faced with looters who cannot even show the simplest of respect for the dead? Their fury boils over. They do not even want to kill, if it comes to it—for that would give the rogues an easy release back into a new life. No, they want to capture, and now that the Alliance is at war with the Crown, they have all the more reason to take them in and put them at the mercy of the court. This thought enlivens them. One immediately kicks off following Rezon. Their blessing flickers into use and their magic calls out loudly into the ocean. Within a few moments, three large sharks are swimming in the distance, weaving through buildings. FOLLOW THE OTHERS TOO, One directs. They do. Two, Three, and Four all turn towards Sunil, Ciaran, and Conrad—none of them spotting Willow's disappearance. One of them draws a wicked cutlass. Another draws a crossbow—the arrowheads imbued with a weak, flickering water manipulation that makes the effect of the water negligible to the arrow's flight. And the last readies their blessing, sending long spirals of ice piercing after the rogues that are running. The sharks circle around, waiting for the first blood to spill before they follow their summoner's directions.

Willow;Talori | Pirate I wouldn't close my eyes if I were you... Willow released a hefty breath as she successfully slipped away from the impending Guardians. She had hidden herself in a dark alleyway. Keeping as still as possible. The city however, was far too quiet, albeit for the soft siren whines. It was so quiet that Willow could hear the Guardians with their light armour rattling when they swam. She took a sharp inhale as a figure swam overhead. It was Rezon! Then not two moments later, another figure followed. This one clearly a guardian. As she pokes her head out, Invisibility still holding strong, she sees the sharks. Now she knew she had to be careful and remain unseen if she wasn't going to disturb them. She did notice their attention shifting in a particular direction every time they passed a spot facing north. She guessed that was where some of the others must be being tailed or even cornered. Knowing she wasn't really any use to them, she took off stealthily in the direction of Rezon. She didn't really care for the others, just as she assumed they didn't care for her, but she couldn't work the ship on her own so she needed at least one figure who knew what they were doing.
The beauty of Kiephis was that is was round. So Willow knew if she swam in the opposite direction they went, she should catch Rezon before the Guardian did. She set Salem ahead, still in his misty/foggy form, hoping that he could find Rezon and mask the path between him and the Guardian before Willow could get there and include the other rogue under her invisibility, then decide what they were going to do from there.

*t/w for strong language* CIARAN of the Setting Sun Turning over what he assumed was once a tabletop, he yanked tattered fabric from under the remains. It would do. Wrapping up the few trinkets he'd collected, his curled ears flicked back as the wailing of the sirens reached him. They weren't that much of a threat, and besides, it didn't sound like they were targeting him. The shouting that cut through it, however, was worth worrying about. " In the name of the law, stop!"
Guardians. He gritted his teeth, head swinging around as her peered from the building he'd entered. Sunil and Conrad must've been spotted, as Sunil's teasing reply followed swiftly after. There. Sunil and Conrad, swimming in his general direction, weaving through the city. Whether they'd spotted him he couldn't be sure, but there were three Guardians tailing them. One of them armed with a cutlass, and another a crossbow with what must've been embued with Water Manipulation. Spirals of ice were cast after them by the third Guardian. "Shit." Muttering, he shot out after Sunil and Conrad. Three on three were better odds, and he did owe Sunil. Grudgingly. "How are we gonna get rid of these fuckers?" He hissed at his Captain, casting narrowed eyes back at their pursuers. Three more dark shapes circled the area, their shapes unmistakable. Sharks, too. Of course they brought their dogs. Ciaran bared his teeth, small cloth bundle hugged to his chest in an attempt to keep it out of view. "If we don't pick up some weapons and fast we're fucked. And I know neither of you want to end up on the Mainland in chains anytime soon."WC: 268Post #3

Rezon | Rogue | Stallion
There was little time to think as Rezon shot away from his incriminating location, the bellows of a guardian echoing after him. He was quite certain they were hot on his tail, but didn't dare risk glancing back as he dodged between buildings. Only one thing mattered now, and that was getting far away from here.
From the corner of his eye, a flutter of movement caught Rezon's attention. A prickling sensation crept along his spine as he realized one of the Guardians must have summoned reinforcements. A fin flickered out of view as something rounded the corner of a building, and the rogue was almost statuesque as he pressed himself into the hard stone of the nearest alley, not daring to move.
For a few long moments, nothing stirred- then suddenly, a flicker. Rezon's heart was sent fluttering, his stomach dropping uncomfortably as his eyes frantically scoured the space in front of him.
A form coalesced into a tangible shape, and Rezon heaved a sigh of relief as he recognized the familiar. Willow's, if he remembered correctly, and with his heart still hammering he peeled himself away from the wall. If her gytrash was here, she couldn't be far off- perhaps together they could begin to figure out how to extract them all from this precarious situation and get away while the guardians were none the wiser.

Conrad - Pirate "Oh good, you decided to join us." The stallion called, turning back to the guardians who were now coming closer. He attempted to ready a shard of ice to fling at the attackers, but the small sliver melted away in the ocean almost immediately. Anger seized him briefly, as annoyance at his own inability to protect the others ensnared feelings of insecurity in his stomach. He had no weapons, and as Ciaran was more than willing to admit, they did need to pick up some weapons quickly. How were they going to get rid of these assholes if they had no weapons and the most that Conrad could do with his own abilities was mildly freeze the water around him. With a quiet huff, he glanced at his captain, hoping that Sunil had some form of answer.
He only had one other thought. If they could get down into one of the houses and check for weapons in an old shop cart, they might get lucky, but even then the likelihood of finding something that useful was pretty slim... and swimming back to the surface wasn't as likely to end well either. He shivered, the thought of chains causing his heart to thump harder in his chest.
He wouldn't get dragged to shore by these hippocampi. Not if he could help it.

S U N I L rogue alliance
......
Shouting at the guardians might have been a dumb idea, but it'd get the attention away from some of the others in the water. Besides, they'd already seen most of them, so might as well provoke them, right? Wrong, cause the next Sunil saw were sharks. Multiple of them. However, in the distance he saw his hydra closing in on the scene. A shout broke his train of thought, and Sunil grinned widely as he saw Ciaran. Swimming closer to his crew member, Sunil listened to his and Conrad's words. Sunil had brought his sword, but the other's were weapon-less.
"The Siren's are the least of our concerns. My hydra is close, so I say we wait for it to distract them, then make a run for the shops and find a weapon, anything will do. If anything, we might run into Rezon and that other lass, and get their help." Sunil swam closer to the shops, waiting to hear a shout of confusion from the guardians. Or a growl from a hungry hydra, anything would do. Peeking at the sharks and guardians behind him, he watched as his hydra closed in, aiming to attack the sharks. Just the distraction they needed! "Go!" He shouted, not wanting to waste a minute explaining himself. He aimed for what seemed like the ruins of an antique shop, hoping there'd be some sturdy weapon for Ciarain and Conrad. "Shout if you see the other's we'll need all the help we can get!" As he swam closer, he kept an eye out for the rest of the group.

! You ready yourself for the altercation. The guardians spread around the Temple, readying their weapons. If they can take you at a range, that gives them much better odds. One raises a crossbow and sends an arrow flying into your midst. Another arrow follows a moment later, as well as several spears of ice, designed to impale, their points sharp and dangerous. The sharks waft closer. They've lost Willow and the gytrash, and the guardian following Rezon has lost sight of them as well, returning to the Temple to help their comrades. The Temple though, is were the fissure has opened, and the water here is not only hot, but foggy and stinging. You're not entirely sure if it's wholly safe for you to hole up in this place specifically. However, the poor visibility is both a hindrance and an aid for you. The guardians are largely shooting blind. As if knowing this, you quickly devise a plan to shoot off in the direction of the shops. You wait for the hydra loyal to your group approaches the sharks before making a run for it. You can hear the shouts of the guardians as their attention turns elsewhere. They place their attention on the hydra now, more concerned with the threat it poses.But... before you can get far... something changes. The water heats up exponentially, and for a moment, you are horrified that perhaps the end is coming. But as quickly as it heat simmers up, it disappears. A long crack has run along the sea floor, halving the fissure. The buildings around you shake, as if they will fall and the remaining portion of the Sunken City will go to ruin.MY PEOPLEThe gods voice shakes. The water around you swirls, the currents picking up. The volume in the water god's statement is not something you are used to. It is piercing, deafening. SISTER — HELP ME PROTECT THEMProtect them? Who? The god almost seems not to notice your being in the city, such is her voice. She is not talking to you. She is not talking about you. For a moment, all that you can feel is a radiating sort of panic, bordering on shock. What can worry a god?I AM HERE.A voice, strong as the mountain, as powerful as the earth, resounds through the ocean, almost as if it comes from below you. Another fissure runs through the sea floor, rattling the buildings around you. But, very unlike the original force that had destroyed half the city, these are calmer, more relaxed, born to build, not to destroy.
I CALLED OUR BROTHER HERE TO TEACH A LESSON. TO HERALD GROWTH.
TO LIGHT A FLAME IN THEIR HEARTS.THEY HAVE NOT CHANGED,BUT THEY ARE LEARNING, SISTERThe god sounds stricken. She sounds like she believes in them. As rogues though, you are unsure if this applies to you. Frighteningly, the god's attention does not seem to belong to you, not here, not now.She is the god of healing. She has always played a passive role in warfare. She would not even allow her people to help stop the genocide so many centuries ago. She would not allow herself to take part in that killing. There is now a threat on her people's borders. SISTER I HAVE LOVE FOR THEM BOTH.
BUT I CANNOT SEE MY NATION CRUMBLE. It becomes more clear as you listen that the god's fear strings from the war brewing in her very waters. You don't know what to think about it, though. Where does her sister come in?I SEE, SISTER.
I UNDERSTAND.I WILL HELP—IT HAS BEEN SO LONG SINCE WE HAVE CREATED TOGETHER,SINCE WE HAVE WOVEN THE VERY THREADS OF THE WORLD WITH OUR SIBLINGS.The earth shakes again, but instead of buildings toppling down, stone and coral arch up from the sea floor, woven into existence by the shared power of the two gods—earth and water. The new stone fortifies what still stands amongst the ruins, it rebuilds the ruins of the city. And yet, there is another sound, of earth breaking and reforming. In the distance, you see the abandoned, but largely intact portion of Kiephis begin to rise, the seafloor growing, pushing the city towards the surface.
You can only imagine what it must look like to see the first spires of the beautiful underwater towers and homes piercing the surface of the ocean. But, you are beneath the surface, and your view is much different. You see, intimately, how Kaia warps the will of the earth to satisfy her vision.
The Temple warps, the dome of it cracking and falling to the floor as the walls lengthen, ropes of rock surrounding it, building it up, up, up. You watch it as it climbs, then disappears from view in the hazy fog beneath the water.
A CITY FOR ALL.The rock continues to build around you, but the dust and sand in the air has grown to be much. Additionally, you have a ship on the surface. You can only hope it has not been destroyed by the half-risen city. You swim to the surface. The ship still floats in one piece, though it has been jostled by the waves caused by the city's move. As you swim to it, the waves grow rougher.A NATION PRESERVED.A great groan and you watch in shock, wonder, as a monolith of stone rises from the water. Greenery begins to grow over it almost immediately after it leaves the water.
You turn. The coast stretches out before you. A rumble, a sigh, and suddenly the cliffs begin to shake. From the depths rise more monoliths. In the distance you hear laughter, of the Sisters welcoming one another, working with one another.
A flash of rainbow, iridescent scales, arching out of the water, almost snake-like, close to you, but it feels like there is a universe of distance between you and she.
Beyond her, melding with the stone rising from the water, a flesh of red gem and greenery. The shapes intertwine and the Sisters dance. The coast roars, it shakes, it warps. The ocean around you grows more choppy, the currents more deadly. You quickly get back into the ship and ready to sail away from the coast.
Cascade swims alongside her sister—who runs through the cliffs, her image more stone than flesh—and in her wake, maelstroms form.
For a while, you can only witness the great change... then when your wits return you remember the War.
This complicates things.
Congratulations on completing Talori 807: The Sunken City. Rewards will be distributed after chapter close, but feel free to post wrap ups now!! Y'all have done great!
