Addeva worked as fast as she could muster, the sweat now soaking through her fur as she shoveled dirt. She was tired, overheating, and needed a snack, but she focused solely on the job ahead. The zonkey couldn't imagine how terrified those farmers must feel.
Thankfully they came across the group of farmers in no time, thanks to Hawke's directions.
And man, it's always awesome when Aly balloons out her force field. She watched as the massive walls of light became a dome above them. Addeva ushered the frightened farmers to follow as Alyshia began to move the dome along with her, bouncing a little as she trotted alongside her sister. "Seeing your cool sparkly blessing never gets old!" The Valkyrie giggled, looking out and watching as the fire on the outside became extinguished when met with her force field.
Finally they made it to the edge of the crops, where the farmers were set free. Thank Kaia none of them were too hurt.
A shout and a crackle in another direction prompted Addy's ear to flick, the rest of her head following as she realized the fire was spreading to another nearby field. Seriously?? With a snort, the Valkyrie took off in the direction of the young fire, skidding to a halt in front of it and beginning to do her same routine. The dirt on the edge of the field rumbled as she churned and loosened it with her earth manipulation, and proceeded to fling the dirt across the quickly burning field. "Why--" *fling* "--won't--" *fling* "--you calm down--" *fling* "--you stupid fire?!" Word count: 265| Post #5 Incident B | Post #1

Hawke Stone Circle | War-Forged
"Do not cry wolf cub. For when the light leaves, the dark fears you." Fire was absolutely going to be the death of them. Maybe not now, but it sure did feel like it.
Sure, the farmers were all safe and sound--less causalities on their head. Or at least that's how they were going to look at it in the end of things.
But the thing about fire is that it has the tendency to spread to others things. And today would certainly be no exception to that law of physics.
The crackling sounds of a fire pull their thoughts to a screeching halt, and the young Valkyrie speeding right on by pulls their attention to the young fire. Great--just great.
Hawke looks completely and totally done with the whole situation, their ears swiveling back against their neck. Lips pull down into a tight grimace, her tongue swiping across the opening along her jaw. Seriously? Could they not catch a break for once in their life?
No? Okay.
Turning to those who haven't rushed into the direction of the Silo, they nod their head towards the growing fire. "I suppose we aren't done yet. Continue to do what you can.
"And be careful--please! If you get burned, let me know!" They call out, her prosthetic creaking as they rush forwards, fully intent on helping out however they could. Sure, she couldn't bend earth like the Valkyrie, but sheb could perhaps help--anything was better than nothing. "But I really don't feel like treating second or third degree burns today."
Their metal hoof stomps down on a rogue ember, squashing it beneath the weight without much effort. At least the blasted thing was good for something she supposed.

Adair 480 words || post V Adair could sense the strain Aly was under, and he breathed a sigh of relief when she managed to get them all out. Lad busied himself calming the terrified horses, though today his heart just wasn't in it. He kept getting distracted, thinking about how Alyshia had been able to save everyone, and Addy had managed to keep herself and Chirin safe. Even Hawke had been a good leader. And Adair... Just... Said something like "turn left". Great. It probably wasn't even needed, given Hawke's blessing. He wasn't needed. What a waste. Hira should have sent him to do something else, perhaps accompany his father again in his mission in the city they had found alongside his sisters' party. But, no, he was here to yell at irresponsible children and make an unnecessary remark to feel useful. Suddenly, however, they were alerted to the fact that the nearby field was on fire. Fantastic, would the excitement never end? Meanwhile, Kiger screamed about a silo, and Adair narrowed his eyes, noting with despair the risk of actual burning (and likely more) of the silo. Before he could come up with a plan, Addy raced off, throwing dirt in the new field's fire. It wasn't enough so far, but it seemed to be at least slowing the flames down just enough. Chirin, to his surprised, also didn't run off this time, but presented them with a plan. Adair was sure he hadn't been talking to him, but he didn't want to know. Deciding to take charge as per Hawke's instructions, he turned to the kid. "That's not a bad idea. Be ready." Then, he turned to the horses that had stayed out of the fire. " Kiger! You, sir!" He called to the black mare and Taend, " help evacuate the civilians away from the silo!" His eyes flickered back to Chirin. "Wait for them, and to make sure everyone is safe, then check again to see if they're all gone. You better be able to control that thing for good." There was still the fire to contend to, however. Adair begun to kick dirt into the flames, but the feeling of helplessness was quick to creep up on him. Useless, useless, useless. He grunted, eyeing the fire and concentrating, until and idea made his eyes actually glow in excitement. " Aly! I know you're tired, but do you think you could make a force field to block part of the fire's path? I'll take the other part. Addy! Focus the earth manipulation into a barrier to keep the worst of the flames from going through! You'd squash a few crops but most of the field would be safe!"
If only he could do more than glow his eyes and repeat things. The unicorn continued to focus on throwing dirt in the flames, uncomfortable with the proximity and the heat. What a waste of space.

K I G E R In her haste to make it to the silo, she had apparently tripped over a hole in the ground. Luckily, it wasn't deep enough to warrant any serious injury, but her nose did hurt a fair bit from smacking into the ground. Oh good, I'm still clumsy, Kiger thought as she climbed back to her feet.
A familiar voice was calling her name -- the big tough Shield from before who had asked if she was okay. Her aching nose made it hard to remember anything else, but as she looked in the direction of her name, she was still able to hear him say, "Help evacuate the civilians away from the silo!"
Civilians? Oh no. She looked back at the encroaching fires. Oh no, I'm not a people person. But desperate times often called for desperate measures, she supposed, as she saw the flashing forms of other equines near the silo still.
Kiger resumed her pace, but with more care as she wove around burning ground. As she got closer, an adolescent farmer's daughter ran out of a nearby house with a bucket of water. The young horse dumped the bucket's contents in a loose ring around its base, but as she turned to run back, Kiger reached out with her teke and dropped a firm grip on the filly's shoulder, causing the startled equine to drop her bucket.
"Stop! You need to get you and your siblings out of here! Let the adults handle this -- you just get your family somewhere safe and wait out the fire!" she yelled above the crackling of flames.
"But the whole town's supply of grain is in there!" the filly argued. "Mama and papa didn't raise no quitters!" Her eyes grew fierce and desperate. "I promised them I'd work hard!"
Kiger's heart twisted in sympathy as she accidentally made eye contact with another foal peering out of the shadows of the house. "I know, darling, I know," she said, touching her muzzle to the filly's head. "But crops can be sown again. Your family can't."
Heat billowed around them in hot, angry waves. The two horses stared at each other for a heartbeat more, before the filly burst into tears and ran for the hut. She emerged a moment later with a trio of younger siblings and vanished into the smoke. Kiger hoped they knew where they were going, but she couldn't follow. The black mare turned her attention towards the next nearest house, her heart breaking as the flames came closer.

The sudden appearance of the others made her thankful, hopefully they can tame this fire before the field became as messed up as the last one was. The thought of the horses in this town and its surrounding areas going without food broke her heart. And hearing the dangers of the silo? The Valkyrie quickly prayed to Kaia that the citizens will be alright.
An ear flicked as Adair showed up. She scrunched her nose at the thought of ruining some of the crops, but it was for the greater good. Addeva concentrated on the earth, sensing an approximation where the heat from the burning crops began and stopped. Once she had a vague idea, she molded the field's ground into a wall several feet into the air and a couple of feet thick. Nodding in satisfaction with her work, Addy leaped into the charred field to get closer to the flames. The flares lashed at her and she beat them back with a spray of dirt. With one density control bounce, she jumped over the flames to an earth manipulated platform to try to control it from the inside.
She slightly miscalculated the intensity of the flames here. Addeva let out a loud "AH!" as the fur on her left flank caught fire, but was quickly put out by her dirt. It left a slight sting, but nothing too horrible. The Valkyrie shoved it deep down and kept on working, making a mental note to have someone look at that. Hawke Stone Circle | War-Forged
"Do not cry wolf cub. For when the light leaves, the dark fears you." They were doing their best to keep up with everyone coming and going, their mind working a mile a minute to keep up with who was physically in front of them and who wasn't. It was beginning to make their head hurt. But beggars can't be choosers.
"Everyone still doing okay?" They call, glancing around the faces that had jumped into the fray with them. "Nothing too exciting yet?"
Their ears swivel towards the sounds of a startled yelp.
Really?
Their head whips around at break neck speed. Their eyes falling towards one of the Valkyries, a look of disappointment and concerned mixed together washing across their features.
"I said no burns." They mumble, mainly to themselves more than anyone else. A quick once over, from the distance they are standing at, doesn't cause any alarms to go off in Hawke's mind. But, it might be better to ask. "Are you alright over there?"
"If it starts to get irritated or anything, let me know." They snort, slinging a few bits of dirt onto the flames. Their prosthetic going back out to smash out another budding amber.
The former Medic in them is screaming to get everyone out of the fire. That would be the safest thing, and it would certainly quell what little anxiety was wrecking them at the moment. Sure, that would keep everyone not caught in the fires safe and sound, but what about those who hadn't been quite as lucky?
It wasn't quite a fair trade if you asked them.
With a small huff of air, they snuff out the medic side of them, the air about them still cool and collected. "But a few burnt hairs won't hurt, I suppose." WC: 289 | Post #7

T A E N D ❅War-Forged | Stationary Merchant❅
Today was not a good day. Taend growled and followed after the black mare, running towards the silo.
He came into a scene of chaos.
Stallions, mares and foals all working to protect the silo from falling embers and igniting. He canters behind Kiger and watches for a brief moment as the mare fights with a filly. His own hearts twists as the filly bursts into tears and runs to safety with her siblings. He then follows the mare's gaze to the house. With a growl he gallops out from behind and heads into the flames, throwing a shouted command over his shoulder as he went.
"Gather the adults, get buckets of water to moisten the ground and make a barrier! The silo must be saved!"
He finishes just as he gets into the house. Inside lays two foals, one with tear streaking down pale cheeks and the other straining to stand. He only trots forward, dropping to his knees and baring his side. He turns to the crying foal, "Help me get your sibling onto my back, we'll get out of here." With a shaky nod, the foal helps him heft up the other and they run out to the crowd. He hands off the twins to a startled mare and turns to run back over, only to stop as the smaller foal steps forward. Their pale muzzle reaches his own- "Thank you." He gives them a small smile before running back, his sides heaving ever so slightly.
He turns to his fellow horses, "How the hell are we going to save this thing?"

CHIRIN
Chirin nodded when Adair gave him orders and the colt couldn't help but feel relief when he told him that he had actually had a decent idea. As he watched Kiger and Taend usher families away from the Silo, Chirin started a brisk trot towards the structure. He scanned the area quickly, finding no other horses around the Silo. He swallowed nervously as he stood beside the building, the air around him turning to ice fog, regardless of any heat.
The colt found Kiger and Taend and made eye contact with them, "I'm calling him up now!" he told them, allowing some forewarning of the colossal beast that was churning beneath his hooves. He summoned Gaster with a strong will to Protect, throwing an equally strong lash of Caution into the mix. Slowly, probably the slowest any Lindworm has ever gone, the massive Golem crawled from the earth. No debris flew, no eruption of soil. Just a simple, calm push. The garnet eyes found his Stone Bearer and he carefully made his way over to the Silo. The red eyes scanned the ground in front of each step.
A foal that had been hiding behind a cart bolted out in front of the beast as he took a step. The Lindworm halted all movement, the large clawed hand suspended in the air as he watched the foal clear out of his path. Only then did he lower the hand back down and continue forward.
He offered his Stone Bearer a low rumble, a greeting, as he wove his way between the houses and the Silo. The amount of self-control, self-awareness and delicacy the Golem exhibited was nothing short of incredible. For something his size to cause nearly no damage aside from maybe some loose roofing and obvious ground trauma was almost unheard of. Chirin looked over his shoulder to some shocked expressions and gave them a smile, "I told you he'd be careful. He's around me and my flock all the time. He knows how to watch his step."
Turning his attention back to the Silo, the colt took a deep breath and began to freeze the surface of the structure. A wave of fluffy frost covered the wood and thatching, each layer starting after the last finished.
Chirin kept his focus on the frost as Gaster remained still, keeping an eye on the young boy the whole time.
He hoped this worked.

Adair 786 words, post VI
Adair watched as Addeva ran off to do as he asked, and he followed her as she made her barrier around the fire, kicking up and throwing remnants of the earth she was moving in whatever bits of fire had stayed on the protected side of the field. Looking ahead, he thought he could see a faint outline of Alyshia's shield against the fire, but everything was so bright, even for him, that he wasn't sure. The fire wasn't spreading ahead anymore, so he hoped everything was going according to plan, and that Aly's shield was holding until the earth wall was long enough to encircle the fire.
And he was still there. Throwing dirt into campfires.
Useless.
Then Addy did something he did not expect: she jumped over her own barrier, so that she disappeared from view. "Addy?!" Adair called, confused, and then gasped as he saw her leap - far too high, she was using her blessing again - into the middle of the flames. "ADDEVA!" Adair called, panicked. He could only barely hear her scream of pain over the crackling of the fire.
Logic evaded him. Using all his strength, Adair broke into a run, slipping between what might have been the edge of Aly's shield and Addy's growing wall right before the gap was closed - the fire seemed to be contained, burning only on the inside. The Shield was now too far to hear Hawke's words - the very ones that would reassure him that she was alright. Because this was all his fault - his plan, his idea to risk his sisters' lives because he was too useless to do anything worthy. This was why Hira never gave him anything more important than basic chores, this was why he could never join his father in the mission to the underground city. He was useless.
Distracted, Adair misjudged his closeness to the flames. When he noticed it, the unicorn even tried to change direction, but it was too late. Flames licked half of his face, his neck, his shoulder. There was no fanfarre, the fire claimed part of him as it had claimed the fields before. It was almost as if it hated him for finding a way to stop its path, and now had its revenge. Adair did not even have time to cry out before he fell.
The pain was instantaneous, though the accident had been silent. Nothing else mattered except the fire ravaging his body, and he instinctively pulled away from it, moving just enough that he was out of the flames' range, right next to the wall, before he collapsed on his injured side, not caring for how the ashes would only make his wounds dirty, only trying to stop them from consuming him. He was too out of focus to notice much other than how he had managed to quell the fire on his body. The world around him - what little he could notice - did not seem as bright, perhaps the worst of the inferno was gone thanks to Addeva. Not that he cared. Curled up on the ground, he did not scream, but a broken moan came out of his throat. His eyes had been open when he faced the fire, and now one of them burned worse than the rest of his body, the pain going straight to his skull. He felt as though it would crack open.
More than that, it seemed to echo around him, as the creature linked to his mind felt its effects. Using the last of his strength, Adair willed them away, down, down, away from the surface, away from him. The golem's mind was tortured, furious, wanting to crush and destroy whatever had caused him harm, protectiveness and perhaps care leaking into Adair's tired mind. Still he willed it away, and with a mournful roar, it took off, straight from the place where it had falled by his side to deep underground, as small as it could make itself, the hole disappearing after it was gone, but the earth still shook as the worm moved underneath it.
Adair nearly passed out from the effort.
Hazily, he could now feel someone - hawke? - touching him, turning him so that his injured side was exposed. Only then did he scream, any movement was pure torture. He still could sense his pain being echoed by Rune, but the feeling seemed to be fainter, either because he was loosing consciousness or because the lindworm was moving away from Taenos as Adair so desperately begged it to. He could still hear things, Alyshia's panicked voice, Addeva's as well, maybe?
Addy, Addy. He hoped it was her voice. He hoped she was safe.
His consciousness flickered like candlefire, then faded away.
Note: I got permission from svantanon to have Adair assume that Alyshia is near him, same with notadonkey for the implication that Addy's blessing is working and containing the fire for good!
