Former High King: Isamu It seemed quite an audience was before him, some faces he knew, were so familiar to him, but he could not quite place, like being stuck on the tip of his tongue, but unable to say. Others were new to him and made him glance at them slowly, as if wanting to see who they aligned themselves with, yet as he watched them, they knew him, he saw the worry in their eyes, and perhaps for once. He was safe, he was home, he was safe... Right?
Daigo, he knew of him, right? Yes? no. His memories, all the events, 2 years was a long time? Would they forgive him for not knowing fully? Would they understand how hard it was to pull memories up from the past? How it strained him and made his head pound? Daigo mentioned of being home; it shook him from his dangerous thoughts and painful memories he tried to dig up, he said it was okay, and for once, the former High King let out a breath he did not know he was holding. He was among friends and he could trust those around them. Or so he assumed, he was to weak, too jumbled to think otherwise. "Thank you.." his voice was tired, strained as pain seemed to be etched so deeply in his features. Wounds on his flesh did not seem to heal right, his once beautiful horns were smashed down, only to have a healer help and regrow them back.
He looked to those that asked what had been done to him. How could he begin? His mind couldn't grasp it fully, all that had been done, his body and scars telling a story he had no words for. "So much has happened... I..." he seemed so at pain, memories burning into him, as much as the aodh sigil was burned into his flesh. Branding him, weakening him, mocking him. It was too much, too much to take in, to say, the words faulted in his tongue.
Another question was asked. "Tea.. Tea would be good, Casius." he remarked onyl to wince and hiss in pain as he shifted weight on his legs. He was malnourished, sores on his legs and chipped and cracked hooves made his old joints hurt and ache. Others came along, a mare took charge and for once he was thankful for that. Someone taking the lead, he watched as they commanded the others and he nearly froze in the spot as the guard called her Queen. Haji had married? He should have been there, with his kin, his only child. How was his wife, how did she fair? What happened here in his wake? He wanted to know, gods he prayed and thought of them all so much in his time away in... in misery. He looked to him and his heart ached, he was not the King they knew, not the same horse he was after all that had been done to him. Would they think less of him? Perhaps.. Perhaps he thought less of himself as well.
Yet they soon were going to take him to someones house and for a moment he worried if this was not a trick or a ploy... He thought he knew this world this place, but he had been so wrong. So wrong indeed.

Hayate Former Master of Calligraphy ......
"High King Isamu? " Hayate had to repeat in a low whisper just to himself, images of the old king popping into his mind. Isamu who had gone missing and presumed dead by many, was here? It seemed impossible but he could tell from the gasps and tonal changed that it was quite true. Hayate stuck close to Midori, holding his cane close by his side and using his senses to navigate instead. Ears mostly, large satellite disks that they were, but also the body head he felt from others and the slight vibrations in the ground from their moving bodies.
Hayate's milky blind eyes blinked slowly as he tried to digest what was before him. He couldn't see the horrible state of the once elegant king, but he could hear the concern laced into words and came to the conclusion that nothing good had happened. The High King himself, his voice was nearly unrecognizable, laced with terrible pain. His scent was off too and very alarming, and Hayate kept to the back of the gathering, listening silently.
Casius and Sakura began to organize the situation and the old Master agreed with a nod that this was neither the time nor place to reveal the old king. He needed time to recover and a crowd frenzied by his surprise appearance would do him no good at all. Hayate had little help to offer in his blindness and shifted his weight softly from side to side, trying to alleviate the ache that was slowly creeping into his hind and up his spine. Stress. Stress always made his injury worse.
"What can I do to help, if anything at all? " he asked softly, expecting fully to have no place in this little gathering. If there was anything he could do, he would, but he would be just as content with leaving the situation to more capable horses, and rejoin his family.
What a mess.

Daigo | 4
Daigo watched as words were thrown at the king. The chaos in Isamu's soul was reminiscent of that so many months ago. Daigo took a breath, hoping others would do the same. The bustle of the festival didn't help, either. Mention of tea came up. Daigo nodded. Arya suggested sanctuary. "I agree, we need to get somewhere quiet. My home isn't too far from here, we can take refuge there." Daigo said with another nod. "Everyone hold your questions until our King's head has had time to return to it's shoulders. Follow me." Daigo was never one to overstep his authority, but he tread the line carefully. The crowd was much denser now than before, but still Daigo lead on. After a few minutes of walking, the crowd had thinned and the professor's home came into view. The Library had a humble face, carved from the stone of the caverns. There were a few steps split in the middle by a statue of Argus carved of a blue toned marble. Eyes were lain in gemstone and littered the god's body. There was a mist spilling from where the mane and tail would be- something Daigo's dear friend Arges helped him manifest. Daigo's mind paused. Arges had explained to him an endless amount of times how exactly it worked, but he never had a mind for the sciences. "Please come in, you are welcome here." Daigo said as he opened the doors. The Library itself was not typical of the average Bremian home. A place of knowledge and learning, the rooms were wide and the ceilings were high to accommodate the stretching bookshelves. They were made of a dark colored wood- it seemed almost purple. Numerous novels lined each of the shelves, each unique and colorful, much like gemstones held by rock. Above them stretched the cosmos, neatly painted on the ceiling and all in their spot as if the night sky was truly above them. As you moved forward, you came upon an opening. There was a circular desk for patrons to heck out books. Daigo seemed to pay it no mind and moved past it with ease. You could see photos of his family, books needing repairs, and all sorts of other windows to the stallion's life. It was quiet in the Library, but not eerily so. Daigo lead his party to another clearing, though this time it held chairs and tables. "Please, sit and rest or feel free to roam where you like while I prepare some tea."420
{feel free to describe the library however you want or not at all!! There are lots of books, but no one else besides our group (the library was closed for the festival). The Argan Library is a public library Daigo has been taking care of for about 10 years now, but its much older than him. It previous caretaker was an old official named Eos who left it to him... if you really want to know more, let me know!!! }

Iyasu
Iyasu glanced around, looking for any familiar faces in the crowd. He took his time, buying a few treats to nibble as he shopped. He saw many faces he recognized, and politely greeted most of them. But his restless hooves carried him on. Never stopping for very long, he only exchanged the barest pleasantries. Thankfully the festivities had saved him from having to stay and talk too much, his fellow equine too excited to stay chatting for very long.
However, his steps stuttered when he saw one familiar face in particular. Sakura, the High Queen. Joy mixed with apprehension as memories of the cave-in flooded his mind and he felt his chest grow tight. He anxiously shifted on his hooves before turning around to take a moment to calm his frayed nerves and reorder his thoughts.
He wanted to greet their queen, but he needed to be calm. He wanted to be calm. He turned back to some shift in the crowd as Sakura moved. He watched anger cross her features as she walked. Confusion crossed his features as he watched her join another group, his eyes quickly finding the head priest of the Argus shrine, Casius, who he recognized from his visits even though they had never personally met. His confusion only grew as he observed what appeared to be a somewhat tense exchange.
Iyasu hesitated for some time, watching what he could see of the events unfold. Seeing one of the Guard come and go he finally gathered the courage to walk forward, curiosity finally spurring him into action. He took the moment to give a deep bow and a hushed greeting to his queen and those around her. When his eyes landed on Isamu though he felt the air leave his lungs, heart breaking. He heard the talk of those around him, but he could not answer immediately as he felt his throat close up and his brain fuzzed out. His mind was having difficulty connecting all of the information together. To line it up and make it into a cohesive picture. He let the actions of those around him continue, numbly processing what was being discussed.
“Please let me know if there is anything you need.” Was all he could murmur out, keeping a respectful distance back from the small party as they began to move locations, his actions automatic. Confusion and disbelief warred with the instinct to soothe and inspect the injuries of the equine in front of him, glancing at what he could see for injuries that made his heart ache even more, and he hardly processed he had followed them into the library until Daigo was speaking to them once more. He startled and shrank back slightly, suddenly feeling embarrassed for having just inserted himself into the situation. He could not even take the time to appreciate the library fully as nerves ate him up slowly. How much decorum had he just breached in his desperate wish to help? He shifted on his feet, nerves growing, as he wondered just what he should do next.

Hajime Breim l High King "Uneasy lies the head that wears a crown."
References l Playlist l Moodboard
"Your majesty." A voice catches the High King of guard as they quietly sip their tea in the cafe. Turning to look at the speaker, Hajime takes note of the young member of the watch as he bows deeply. "You are needed immediately." The watcher stands, his head low as Haji nods in silent acknowledgement. "If you'll excuse me..." Haji says gently to the horses he'd been sitting with as she stands to follow the Watcher. "Do you know why my presence is necessary?" She asks, concerned that this could be about some rogue kawaru intending to ruin the celebrations. The Watcher just shakes his head. "Kano of the Watch sent me to find you, majesty. He only said it was important and that if I found you, I should bring you to the Argan Library." Haji raised an eyebrow but followed along quietly, smiling at the passerbys as they enjoyed the day's festivities. Upon arriving at the Library, the Watcher bowed deeply as he took his leave, and Hajime slowly opened the large door, utterly confused by the summons. "Hello?" They called out, wandering deeper into the library. As they made their way through the rows of shelves, they spotted Sakura standing among a small group. Letting out a small sigh, they approached their wife, bowing their head slightly in greeting to her. "Sakura, what is..." They started to ask, trailing off as their gaze shifted to the unicorn who seemed to be at the center of the small ring. "Father...?" Word Count: 273

Casius;Breim | Priest Kindness trumps all, except when it doesn't Casius gave a minor sigh of relief as things finally began to find order. With the King shielded by the bodies of their group, Casius felt comfortable to slip away for barely a moment to request a cup of hot water so he could brew the King a fresh mix of chamomile and peppermint tea, in hopes of being able to soothe the poor soul.
He returned to the group in between when they began discussing a good stopping point before being able to get him to the palace and just as Sakura began taking queenly charge. Casius looked to her with a smile, it was good to see her shining in her role. When she looked to him and asked for the Priest to cover Isamu back up, Casius gave her a nod and in the same movement held the cup of tea close to Isamu's mouth, incase his teke wasn't strong enough to hold it on his own.
Looking about the group, Casius made note that Hayate was still looking a bit confused and helpless in the situation, but as they agreed on a place to go, Casius looked to Hayate, "Hayate, perhaps if you could walk beside our dear Isamu as we make our way to the Library. Offer him some friendly comfort." He asked politely, noting the stiffness in the unicorns balance. He hoped he might be able to offer some relief to both of them through his blessing while they walked, but he found himself not having to worry about doing it discretely when the healer, Iyasu joined them. He knew the Healer by name, but hadn't personally met them, but found his timing swell. "Ahh, Iyasu, wonderful timing. I see you have spotted our surprise guest and can see he's not in the greatest shape. I have just given him a cup of peppermint and chamomile tea, to help soothe him. But if you've got anything else that could help, that would be incredible." Stepping back he motioned to the Healer to come away for a second. "Perhaps if you could quietly suggest something for Hayate there too, he's looking a little stiff, but I didn't want to bring it up in front of the others." He said to him discreetly. Then rejoining the crowd, he motioned he was ready to go and positioned himself behind Hayate and Isamu as they walked, in case he was needed.
Casius was more than happy that they were gathering at the Library. When Daigo excused himself to go make tea, Casius gave him a warm thankful smile. Any source of information was a thrill for the Priest and the Library looked to have it all. He made a mental note to come and spend a day there soon, when he got some rare free time of course. But for the moment he kept one eye on the books and scrolls and the other on Isamu, wanting to be close in case he called. That was when another figure entered the Library in a rush, however this one was much more familiar. His heart broke for the young King as their eyes flashed over to Sakura before finding their way to their guest. Hajime's own missing father. Feeling responsible for uncovering the older King in the first place, Casius stepped forward. "Hajime." He said in greeting, offering a bow of respect. "We came across King Isamu here in the marketplace, amongst the celebrations. Being terribly confused, we thought it best to get him out of the bustle of the crowd and came here." He offered to fill Hajime in gently. Then stepping a little bit back so the King had access to their lost father. Honestly he felt a tear gathering in his eye as he thought to the scars that lacerated Isamu's body, not knowing what had happened to the poor King.

Arya | Master
The group shuffled their way to Daigo's library, keeping Isamu tucked between them, arousing no suspicion thankfully. Arya kept sneaking glances at Isamu, making sure that he was indeed still very real, still there. She longed to press her muzzle to his neck as a show of comfort, but held back, not knowing anything of what their king had been through, and not wanting to aggravate tension he might be feeling.
Ordinarily, setting hoof into a library would set Arya's heart all aflutter, and she wanted nothing more than to examine the books and pour over them, losing herself for hours in such a library was really a lovely dream. Perhaps at a later date, she could revisit the library.
For now though, she stood still, gazing from Isamu to Casius, then to Sakura, not knowing what exactly to do.
A voice called out, and Arya looked up as Hajime entered the room. The Master watched as their gaze immediately shot to Sakura, before turning towards Isamu. Thankfully, Casius stepped forward and began to explain what had happened. For once, Arya did not think she'd be able to articulate properly just what had happened. While this was by no means an inherently scary situation, Arya was feeling wildly overwhelmed and thoughts of her own home, safety from the unknown were blossoming in her mind.
If this were even a fraction of what Isamu felt, Arya's heart went out to their former High King. "Is there anything we can do to help with the situation?"

Former High King: Isamu The sudden shuffling of everyone around them, made them uneasy, and was thankful for the hood that covered them, their face. He chewed on the inside of his cheek, nostrils flaring as he tried his best to hold in the hiss of pain that escaped his lips each time he moved forwards. They said it was safe, a place he could settle if only for a moment. Casius offered him tea; ahh tea, he had... did have good memories of tea. "Thank you." The warmth it brings as he allowed Casius to bring it to his lips, allowing him a few sips, before sadly going into a light fit of coughing. Gods by good he was tired, so tired and his head pounded with the force of trying to recollect it all, what all... No he shook his head, don't let it fester more then it had.
Finally they had reached library and he allowed the others to move him in, trying to get used to other bodies near him. Faces he was told he could trust. He took in deeps breaths as they pulled the cloak down, allowing them all to drink int he sight of him. A mess, a disgrace of what he was. Scars old and new festered his skin, his mouth sore from where a bit and harness was to tight on his face, a sign to some of the damage that might have beheld the King. Talk seemed to happen among the crowd he had been sorted into. He was in and out of it, allowing his weary soul to rest, a gift he had not had in so long.
The noise of others drew his attention and as he looked up, hey met the eyes of the one that looked so deeply to him. 'Father' Isamu stared at Haji unable to move, and he felt his heart began to race, and tears slowly filled his eyes, and he shook his head. "I... I don't know you..." his voice cracked and broken, and he looked around at the faces, faces he should know. It was slipping away from his grasp, he was loosing their names, what they done, little snippets. Heart raced and he stood up abruptly, pushing himself back. "I can't, no... I don't know you... You are. I... WHO?" he sputtered out tangle mess of words. "Late, late can't be late, the whips, slaves. I..." he panicked as he shook his head all the more, body shaking as he tried to breath in deeply, nostrils flaring, he couldn't look at them, their faces turned to to faces he did not know. His head pounded, it hurt so bad he wanted to it to stop it all to just stop. "They... they knew.. did they? Yes the Kawaru's doing, would... I... Time.. Fall" he shook his head as he stomped his hooves down. Muttering more jumbled muttering only bits and pieces understandable, as the the Former King was brought down even further into the pits of his misery and all that had been done.

Hayate Former Master of Calligraphy ......
With Casius offering Hayate something to do rather than stand there blindly, swaying in one spot, the former Master bowed his head in thanks and moved forward slowly, joining Isamu by his side. Though with the distress saturating the old King's voice, Hayate doubted that he would be recognized, but at least then he could be a meat shield and a very none threatening presence. The walk was not so terribly long but Hayate didn't relax until he recognized the scent of old books and scrolls, and heard the doors close behind the group.
The promise of tea made him sigh softly and smile thankfully in Daigo's direction. There was time enough to distance himself a little and to give Isamu some much needed air, before the library doors opened again Hajime's voice called out. Hayate's heart sank instantly, feeling so terrible for the son. He wished the reunion could have been different, and sighed deeply as Hajime called to his father. Hayate was almost glad he couldn't see their expressions.
His large ears flicked forward as he sensed Isamu's building distress and the old king did indeed seem to shatter. Jumbled words and the frantic sound of shifting hooves, he spoke but made little sense, except for the bit about 'slaves and whips' which stuck with Hayate.
"You're majesty please relax. There are no whips here, no slaves and nothing to be late for. You will do only what you want to, there is no pressure. You are safe among us, as terribly difficult to grasp as that may seem. We thought you d- " he paused to collect himself, frowning briefly: "We thought you lost so long ago. If you can at all, then tell us what happened. "
Hayate couldn't see the brand or scars and wounds, if he could he would have formed a very swift opinion of the situation. He could only hear the pain and distress and knew something horrible had happened to the old King.

Kano Guard of Breim
Kano had alerted the Kings Guide and was able to send a couple of other members of the watch to look and alert the King. His hoof steps were purposeful as he navigated the streets, twisting and turning. Flicking a signal to two guards to follow them after concluding that their presence would not be missed from their stations. He didn't want to leave an area unattended, they still had to be attentive and diligent - this event is supposed to go through smoothly. Well, smoothly as it can be - at least to those who were made known of Isamu's return.
The two guards followed close behind the beige stallion as they approached the library. He took a deep breath at the door, quickly instructing the two guards to stand post outside, before slowly entering the library. His ears swiveled as he pinpointed where the group of horses resided. As he drew closer, he quickly recognized Hajime among the others. He could not help but let out a sigh of relief. The current King would know what to do. Kano's heart went out to him, he couldn't imagine what thoughts and emotions were going through the young King's mind.
Just Hajime's presence often calmed Kano's nerves - the often loud and rowdy guard stayed on the outskirts. They didn't need more commotion and when he was on duty he knew to be quiet and calm. It was just really hard to do so. Kano shuffled his hooves to keep himself busy from saying anything out of line.

SAKURA High Queen of Breim
The walk to Daigo’s library was hurried. She greeted Iyasu, or at least, thought she did, and was grateful for his presence. They would need all the healers, all the help, they could get. Reaching the compound allowed a heavy weight to fall off her shoulders. Of course, the weight only shattered and split into several smaller issues upon impact, and now she would be picking up the pieces. How would her husband react? The herd? The Kawaru? Did they have something to do with their beloved king’s disappearance? What if Kano didn’t reach the palace in time? What if this was, Argus forbid, an impostor? No, nobody could subject themselves to the pain of sores and scars, just to trick the Umare. Could they? Her mind raced, jumping from thought to thought, each leap pushed by anxiety and concern. If one were to look at her, they would have just seen the worry that pulled at her features, body tensed. Her eyes scanned the room, remembering the time she had spent there as a filly. The thoughts never fully surfaced, pushed to the bottom by the more urgent matter in front of her. A familiar, comforting presence approached, and the Queen knew that her King was there. She had missed the confused ‘hello?’, but she could never miss his aura. "Sakura, what is..." The voice of her husband echoed, gently, in her ears, and she pivoted on her hooves, turning to face her, offering a quick bow and a pained smile. “Oh, Hajime, it’s your –” “Father…?” She was unable to get another word in, and for once, she was glad to have to be the one to explain the situation. She wasn’t even sure what had happened, herself. "We came across King Isamu here in the marketplace, amongst the celebrations. Being terribly confused, we thought it best to get him out of the bustle of the crowd and came here,” Casisus explained. Sakura dipped her head in agreement, moving out of the way so that Hajime could get a better look at her poor father. In her mind, she repeated apologizes to Hajime, unsure if he would use his blessing or not. I’m sorry we found him this way. I’m sorry for what has happened to him, on repeat until Isamu suddenly stood, announcing that he didn’t know Hajime. Shock and confusion widened Sakura’s eyes as the beaten stallion began rambling, mentioning whips and slaves, …the Kawaru. Her own nostrils flared. She wouldn’t announce it, no, but it was obvious the Kawaru had taken him, sold him off to Aodh. “Isamu,” she said, her voice and demeanor much gentler than the rage that burned inside, “Come, sit down. Drink some more tea. You’re safe.” She carefully moved beside the King, pressing against his body in an effort to force him to lay down next to her, her wing draped over his back. Up close, she could see where a too-tight (was there any relaxing version, though?) of a slave’s bit had cut into his mouth, could smell the stench of open sores, and she looked at Hajime. I’m so sorry, my love.

Hajime Breim l High King "Uneasy lies the head that wears a crown."
References l Playlist l Moodboard
Haji was about to take a step forward, to reach out to her father when the older stallion began to tear up, backing away muttering about how he didn't know her. Hajime bit the inside of her cheek, taken aback by Isamu's outburst and unsure of what to make of it. As he continued muttering, she heard mention of both slaves and the Kawaru.... What had happened to her father? Rage began to boil beneath her calm exterior, her thoughts focussing in on what the next steps needed were. Sidestepping just a bit closer to Sakura, she glanced at her wife for reassurance while outwardly trying to remain composed. This was so much more difficult than anything the young High King could have imagined the day bringing. In her head, she heard Sakura's words of apology, reaching out across the vast silence, and in return, Haji offered her silent thanks. The high king watched as the others comforted the broken shell of a unicorn who had raised her. He felt so familiar, and like an absolute stranger at the same time... Shaking her head ever so slightly, she turned to Sakura once more, all of her focus on sending one single thought to her wife. 'They will pay for this..."
Inhaling sharply, Hajime slowly began to address the rest of the group, struggling to keep her composure and the quiver in her voice down. "We need to get him home and to the healers as soon as possible. The festival is coming to a close and it won't be long before the crowds are dying down. That gives my father time enough to calm his nerves with some tea before we head out..." She trailed off, studying the all too familiar stranger huddled up before her. This was all getting to be too much... Word Count: 301

Iyasu
Iyasu processed Kano’s arrival, but he was too focused on how he wanted to proceed to properly greet the member of the Guard. But he startled once more as the High King joined them. The gravity of this situation began to weigh down on him, and he felt his insides twist with the creeping nerves.
However, as Isamu began to panic, Iyasu’s focus quickly zeroed in. He heard mention of whips and slaves, of the Kawaru, and his skin bristled. Were they truly the cause? What had happened? He listened to Hayate, Sakura, and Hajime speak, taking a deep breath. At the current High King’s mention of healers, he remembered his own role here. Isamu may be the former High King, but right now he was a patient. They were a patient like any other right now.
He felt a wave of calm as he opened his satchel and grabbed some lavender oil, popping open the top. It would take a moment, but the scent should help calm them overall. He stepped into view of the king, keeping space but making sure he was visible. Though he wanted to help with his injuries, and already ideas of how to do so, Iyasu did not want to invade their space. “You are okay. You are not in any immediate danger.” He kept his voice calm and steady. He had no idea the extent of their trauma, nor what could trigger them. If any of them wanted information in the long run, the former High King would need to be in a better mental state. If he wanted the chance to examine the wounds Isamu had on his body so he could at least start treatment it was important that Isamu let him close enough to do so. “Please take deep breaths for me if you can.” He hesitated a moment. “We are a bit confused, but we would appreciate it if you could tell us more. Anything at all. But first, we can have some tea. Hopefully some calming chamomile.” He allowed the trace of a smile on his face. “Then perhaps I can help with some of your injuries, if you will let me.” Iyasu quietly added as he dipped his head, his heart breaking as he looked at Isamu’s body once more. No one deserved this… What had he had to endure? And why?
Hopefully, they would get their answers, but he hoped Isamu could be more comfortable first.

Casius;Breim | Priest Kindness trumps all, except when it doesn't Casius' heart shattered when the conversation between Hajime and her father began. The Priest tried to imagine what it would be like if his own father was to suddenly appear after years of his death. He would have no idea how to react.
And for this to happen between these two after two short but strenuous years, the heartache almost unbearable. Casius looked at the older King with nothing but kindness in his eyes, wondering if perhaps the older king would still remember him like when they first discovered him, or whether he too was a stranger to the poor equine. Oh how he felt terrible that he could not currently feel at home back in the tunnels. His kindness turned to Iyasu when the Healer moved in to try and make Isamu more comfortable and begin some small healing. Casius stepped up beside him, "Let me know if I can help in any way. Cascade blessed me with Healing Regeneration some time ago now, if that would be easiest and I practiced a lot with herbal remedies back in her temple." He offered the healer gently. Not wanting to startle Isamu anymore.
Casius nodded his head to Hajime when she mentioned the festival dying down, giving them some much needed space to get Isamu back to the palace and under watchful, caring eyes. "Of course, Hajime. Just let us all know if there's anything at all we can do to help." He said to her, giving a polite bow to show her she had his allegiance. At the mention of tea, Casius went off to help Daigo with everyone's drinks.
