Mordekai had found it hard to adjust in the Oasis. With Eyrin in a wheelchair, he sometimes found it hard, to know how to react to things and what to do. He knew Eyrin was strong, but still.. Living in a wheelchair, you're forced to change your lifestyle for a bit. Having a 5-year old foal running around didn't make it easier, but luckily Mordekai had a lot of free time. Inside the Oasis there wasn't really a lot of dangers, so as a Screamer, he mostly just went around to make sure others were safe.
But, then Eyrin had proposed. Mordekai had originally just found a sunflower, which he wanted to gift to Eyrin. As a promise to be a better partner, and to help him out. But also because he deserved it - he kept his head high and stayed strong despite what happened to him, in the middle of the war. He hadn't expected for Eyrin to propose of all things, but he wasn't gonna say no! Just thinking about it could almost bring him to tears out of sheer happiness. But then again, Pangolin was quick to pull him out of his thoughts, ready to get into trouble.
Pangolin had found another foal to play with, but to be fair, Mordekai hadn't been completely listening, so he didn't know who. So that's why he was now on his way, with Pangolin leading the way and Eyrin somewhere nearby, ready to join them and meet the foals parents, so they could properly meet. It wouldn't hurt them to meet other parents either, especially when they hadn't had Pangolin since she was born. Perhaps they could get some advice!

WC: 593 | Post # 1 Danaë was very young when Lucie was born. It was an unexpected yet wonderful event that had changed her life forever, and she wouldn’t change it for anything in the world. However, it had required a lot of adjustments – Danaë lived a busy, boiling life before her daughter joined the party – always locked down in her forge or racing on the roads to keep her newly built business blossoming. She had to learn so much – patience, awareness, responsibility. This tiny little life was so fragile and could disappear in a flicker, which instantly became her greatest fear as she first witnessed her newly born foal’s face. But they managed, and eventually, her life found a new rhythm she was happy with. She learnt from all the horses around her, parents teaching her how to tend for a child and the general seroran solidarity had made the burden of raising a child alone much lighter. She was content, and Lucie was healthy. Until the war struck, and they had to be moved to the Oasis. The road had been long and dangerous – she feared for her daughter’s life all along the way, as such a young foal was never built to survive long travels under the burning sun of the desert. They had made it safe and sound – but they had lost everything. The whole herd had to start anew and helped each other in building a new life – but new adjustments had to be made, she had to learn again, she had to find a new safe place for her little family to exist. Life was unpredictable and stability could never be counted on, but she had to provide her daughter with that safe environment she so needed to grow steadily. She therefore started implementing little rituals into their daily life: daily walks around the Oasis, story-telling, night-time stories, wood carving sessions and organized playdates. Anything that could make her daughter feel safe despite the war raging outside: rituals were here to give her a sense of stability. Now, Lucie was not so fond of playdates. The filly was shy, and a little bit of a loner. Danaë was aware of this but she couldn’t pass on teaching her daughter social contact: Serora was a big, familial community, and she wanted Lucie to be a part of it. Danaë enjoyed those playdates: she liked watching after other children and having an occasion to interact with other parents – she so needed contact and advice during those trying times. Danaë was not surprised to recognize the stallion approaching and the child, whom she had watched over a few times. She did not interact with Mordekai much yet – only knowing him from Eyrin who was one of her clients. “Wind beneath your wings” she signed, neck arched deeply as she shook her entire body to mimic the word “wind”. Lucie was hiding behind her hind legs, gauging the other foal until she finally recognized them. Danaë gently pushed her towards the other filly. Shyly, Lucie greeted her as Danaë made her way towards the stallion. She knew he understood sign language from past interactions, it didn’t took long for her to start the conversation. “Congratulations on your engagement.” Her body spoke, bells ringing instead of a voice as she smiled warmly. “How is Eyrin doing?” she asks, mimicking the wheelchair which was what she was concerned about. It had been difficult building one out of the few materials she could find in the Oasis and was already planning on improving it as soon as she could.

Eyrin | Savior
Eyrin was stuck somewhere between bliss and a heavy heart lately. It was is all the things in the world were going right and wrong at the same time and it was hard to keep on top of things. With his heart tossed every which way he had been prone to mood swings lately, ups and downs that happened in a matter of hours or even minutes and he was often left feeling wired. A nervous energy that he could never quite shake and had his stomach churning unpleasantly. He had been used to pacing, but he was still adjusting to his altered means of mobility which just managed to frustrate him more. All in all it had let him to be a bit more quick to tire and a bit more slow to react to things.
He had been wrapped up in watching Mord while sunked into thoughts, as Pangolin caught his attention. Those thoughts were fleeting as ever as they fluttered out of his reach the moments he snapped out of them. He blinked, taking a moment to progress what was going on. A friend. Mord and Pangolin were already in conversation with newcomers as he caught up to them. Aha, Danaë. A smile slid over Eyrin's face as he recognized the other, the mare having provided him with his wheelchair. A make-do piece for sure considering their resources, but a tool that allowed him to get around and which made him feel more himself. He had always been the one to help so receiving help had been a challenge for him. It had become easier however and it did him well that they didn't act like he was helpless. Danaë's mother had showed him the ropes of handling his chair and Danaë had made sure it was operational. As it was one the right wheel might need to be better tightened as it clicked away when hitting a rock yesterday. He'd need to ask Danaë later.
He signalled a hello to her and asked what brought her around. Then he spotted the filly, ears perking up in pleasant surprise. He had been quite wrapped up in his own life lately, so he hadn't quite taken the opportunity to learn more about Danaë as opposed to what he'd normally would. He felt instantly guilty. Is she yours? What's her name?

......
Mordekai finally caught up with Pangolin and the foal they were playing with. Looking up, he saw what was supposedly the foal's mother, signing a greeting to him. Was she mute, deaf or was there something else..? To be on the safe side, Mordekai signed a greeting back to her. Looking back, he saw Eyrin had caught up with them. He looked liked he was in his own thoughts, bothered by something. The war hadn't been easy on anyone, but it seemed like Eyrin was still having a hard time figuring out what to make of it and the injuries he sustained. Once again, Mordekai felt angry that he'd come out of it without a wound, while Eyrin was the one to suffer. Shaking his head slightly, he put his head towards Eyrins in a greeting, looking at the two playing foals. He then looked to Danaë, awaiting her answer. He didn't know much about her, and it seemed like Eyrin was thinking that too. At Danaë comment on their engagement, he sent her a warm smile. "Thank you very much!" he signed.
He observed the playing foals, who were still somewhat reluctant to fully play - it seemed like Pangolin was still a bit wary. He sincerely hoped it wasn't due to the war, that the filly could keep her innocence despite what happened around her. She'd been shaken when she saw Eyrin's injury, but had quickly gotten used to it. Besides, now she could sit on his back as he drove around. She'd also been thrilled about Eyrin and Mordekai's engagement, even getting to give a feather for the proposal.

WC: 242 | Post # 2 The mare smiled brightly as she noticed Eyrin catching up to them. Her eyes quickly checked on the device she had made for him – something in the pace seemed to be irregular, the wheel might have been slightly damaged – things that had all the reasons to happen on the rocky roads of the Oasis. But that was work which they could talk about later. Now was the time where Lucie was her priority – and she was currently the subject of interest of the newcomer. She nodded as a response, before signing the name in two ways : the meaning of it, “light”, and the two syllables that constituted it, “loo” and “sie”. The little filly had shied away at the sight of all these people she didn’t know, hiding behind her mother’s legs, staring cautiously at the much bigger stallions. The golden mare nudged her gently towards the others using the tip of her snout, reassuring words sparkling inside her eyes. Lucie hesitantly walked towards Pangolin, eyeing the stallions in apprehension.
The mare didn’t stop her efforts just yet – soon the fillies were off to play, leaving the adults together, watching over them. She turned towards the two stallions. “How have you guys been? Is everything alright with your chair, Eyrin?” she asks politely, excited to be able to interact a little with friendly figures. She had been feeling dreadfully lonely lately, and the kindness of the couple always warmed her heart.
