So the one thing you have to remember is that usually, she never drinks. Except tonight was a slow night and the dinner patrons (what few she'd had) were either filing slowly out the door or staying because they wanted libations, conversations, and who was Væna to deny either? So here she was, basically finished with any heavy kitchen work for the night, watching the sky go from dusky blue-violet to black, watching the stars twinkle into view, watching the blessed moon rise high overhead through the wide front windows, and drinking a glass of white wine. Væna leaned against the bar, just near the swinging half-door which led behind it. She chatted casually with her few remaining patrons, but wasn't terribly involved in any of their conversations. For once in her life, she was letting herself indulge a little. Her father was upstairs, no doubt tending the books before he went to bed. He slept early and rose hours before dawn to tend his domestics before heading out into the Wilds in his work as an Agriculturalist, and to be honest, Væna was happier lately seeing less of him. He'd been devastated when his wife died, but Væna couldn't help but think sometimes that he was devastated for the wrong reasons (though she could never quite put a pin on what those reasons might be). As it were, he was sharper and shorter with her now than he'd ever been across the whole of her childhood, and he'd been a strict parent to begin with. Væna was wearing a little thin, you see, and so while she usually never drinks, tonight was a different story. words: 276 tags: FaunaFawn notes: closed thread for væna and farsight! ♥

Farsight || Harrower || Talori
Today was the day he would meet his betrothed, he was as nervous as a minnow to catfish, everything screamed disaster. Farsight's father told him to be himself, while his mother pleaded for him to be an outstanding Pegasi, the real gentlemen type. So of course, he went with his mothers advice, if only he stuck with it. The fleabitten pegasi meant his future and all it did was slap him in the face, probably literally if she could. At first it seemed like it was going well, but then tempers flew and suddenly they got to see the ugly in each other far to soon. Farsight was saved by Zenith's mother and soon the two parted ways, and left Farsight alone with his thoughts. What a terrible thing to do. Farsight over thought everything, and his heart began to beat rapidly within its cage of ribs. He thought it would have gone better, he thought he was pairing up to someone closer to his age, all his insecurities and thoughts seemed to spill from her lips, how could she read him as easily as he read his cards? The whole thing was a mess and Farsight wasn't ready to get married, he didn't want this, not now, not with her, Cascade knew if he was ever ready? So the young pegasi traveled home and told his family how well it went. When in all honesty it was a tragedy to say the least. Though their thoughts and ideas for weddings and events almost made him sick to his stomach. His parents to thrilled with a match made by Cascade, Farsight assumed Cascade was cursing him for what he was. Yet with his parents chatting along, he bid them adieu and with out a second thought he was out the door. Pace started as a walk, and turned into a trot and suddenly it was a gallop, his hooves beating against the ground matching the ever rapid pace of his heart. No no no! He screamed to himself, no this couldn't be his life, this couldn't be his future. He wanted to dabble in his cards to break the oath all harrowers to make of not to look at their own future, yet gods have mercy, this wasn't his life was it? Hooves echoed as the day turned to dusk and stars began to twinkle out, looking like the glint of mischief in an equines eyes. Truly Cascades doing. Farsight skidded to a hault as he was at the entrance of The Pink Lady, and for once he found himself smiling truly, he had a knack of finding himself here when he needed someone to confide in. He stepped in and looked about and there he spotted her. "Væna." he remarked and how was it, that he could feel the tears welling up in his eyes How was it he was just at her door and he wanted to sob and tell her what an awful day how his whole life seemed planned and all he wanted to do was leave... Væna had just taken another sip of her drink when in through the door came a young pegasus she knew well, all in a rush and looking rather alive, and at first glance she was glad for the surprise. "Farsight!" exclaimed the little mare, setting her long-stemmed glass on the bar with a flash of pink in her telekinesis. "Excellent timing," she said with a certain triteness (or perhaps an alcohol-induced mischief?) to her smile. "You've just missed him." She knew her friend would know who him was; Ikran, ever unyielding in his staunchly conservative rhetoric, had never been pleased by the fact that his daughter had developed a close friendship with the winged harrower, but with him secluded away upstairs they wouldn't have to suffer his begrudging consent. The casual smile on Væna's face fell and the cheer in her eyes dimmed a little as she observed the expression on Farsight's face. "Oh, baby," she murmured, stepping quickly away from the bar and to his side at the door, embodying for a moment her mother, who could never resist a broken heart no matter in whose chest it resided. "What's going on?" She couldn't easily remember another time when she'd seen the freckle-faced youth quite so distraught, and she'd known him for nearly six years by now. At first glance, she'd been glad, but now she had a much more ominous feeling in her stomach than white wine could possibly have caused. words: 245 tags: FaunaFawn notes: BRUH i loved it, write as much as you want! i'm trying to get into the swing of her; been writing thaumas for too long, haha! ♥

Farsight || Harrower || Talori
Ears flickered up as she spoke his name, and he had to fight back the tears, though he gave thanks that her father had gone into his hiding whole to sleep the night away. The last thing he needed was to run into the restaurant looking as if he was about to cry calling out his daughters name. It would be a mess neither of them would want to deal with especially Farsight on this day none the less. A soft sniffle was heard as he tried to calm the hurricane of emotions that raged within him. Eyes glanced to the side taking in the sight of others, though he heard her call out once more and he felt like letting everything out like a wave upon the shores. Vaena was by his side asking what is wrong and he let out a deep sigh, "I went to met my betrothed today. My parents found me someone willing to take me on, little did I know who it was. It's Zenith..." he paused for a moment as he closed his eyes trying to calm himself, trying to not break down in front of his long time friend, one of the few he has had for this long. "It's a mess Vaena an absolute mess." he huffed looking to her. Tears threatening to spill from his eyes, surely he was some delicate thing, a pretty trophy husband, not much more. "This was an awful pairing I have no idea what her parents thought of paring me with her. Im younger then her, I'm delicate." he remarked with a faint chuckle trying to make light of things. Though he gave her a soft smile, but it didn't fully reach his eyes. "We are opposites, and we meet and gods Vaena I tried, I really did, but somehow we spat and brought out the worst in us. And this is to be my life?" He asked her sadly and huffed out a bit looking around as he was sure he was making a scene with his wild stories and he knew somehow it would seem in a way it was his fault how this all happened so terribly. "Maybe we can take this to the bar?" he offered with a faint smile, trying to make sure her other customers wouldn't grumble with not getting a drink as he doubt many would be coming at this time for food alone. Though the idea of food made he want to bury himself in it, and Vaena's food always had a way of warming his soul. She was a magic at what she did, that he knew for sure. "Sorry to drop this all on you. I just don't know where to go or what to do." he sighed a bit letting his wings drop a bit more at his side. Was he a lost cause? He truly felt it. wc|| 487 Tag strixx-variaaNotes|| Oh goodness good haha when inspired I tend to write a lot <3 Vaena is a babe and I can already tell I am gonna love her to pieces ;D

"Yeah, c'mon," she replied, using her head to indicate the bar as she turned. It had taken her a moment to process everything he'd told her, and Væna was sure the surprise (in a less optimistic way this time than when he'd appeared in her doorway moments before) showed on her face. He's engaged.And then: So young.Væna knew it was common for Talori youth to be paired off at his age, and indeed she'd known many who took up that marital mantle (but somehow the sandy-colored mare had never felt its burden on her own shoulders; a fact which brought her both relief and shame at the same time). It's just that he was so young to be given the ultimatum, and it startled her. Væna's other friends had been given a choice, at least, and only in the most serious of circumstances... But then there's the rub, I suppose, because it was just as he asked entry that she realized why his family might have denied him the choice. The weight of reality sank hard through her soul, like someone tossed it into the top of her mind and it just sank through her, settling in the pit of her stomach. O Star of the Seas... As she made her way back to the bar, Væna was acutely aware of the necessity of her role as comforter here. He needed her support and her listening ear, and she had to do her best to help him work his way through this conflict. The resolution set her jaw, but only for a moment, and then she was dancing behind the swinging half-door and pulling bottles out of imbued coolers to be poured into ice-cold tumblers. "I just got this new cider in from Onea," she called to him, worry on her face but a hopeful smile in her eyes. "Sweet as can be, made from our own apples." She meant the pink ladies they imported. Væna slid a full glass across the shiny bartop to her friend. "Try it!" And then, more seriously, "And start from the beginning. What happened? And I mean... Zenith the brewer Zenith? Zenith like the Emperor's Zenith?" words: 364 tags: FaunaFawn notes: awww dude thank you! i love this thread already ♥♥♥

Following her in her path he stood at the bar and sighed deeply as he watched her fill her role, he knew she was like a light on stormy nights, she was a safe haven and to say the least he was unsure what he would do without her. He needed her more then he even knew, in the midst of his moments of utter weakness he found himself at her door way calling out for her. Many would assume he was in love with her, in a way maybe he was? But it was more of a tight friendship a bond thicker then blood a pact between her and him. Farsight offered a faint smile, though he perked up a bit as she began to speak. Her voice ringing out like the pitter patter of rain, it was so calming to listen too. Sweet as apples, surely she knew a thing of sweetness as her voice never failed to carry that cherry on top sweetness. He smirked a bit, knowing that she knew of his fondness of the glorious sweetness. "Well surely I couldn't deny such a tempting offer." he chuckled a bit, his spirits lifting up a bit. Zenith, she spoke the name and it seemed to be like a heavy downpour on his soul as he looked to Vaena. "Yes, that's the one." he chuckled but it seemed more hollow this time around. Start from the beginning, did she fully know what she was getting herself into? "Well to start things off, I really need to know who the higher ups are, cause I heard the name Zenith and I had no idea who that was." he laughed a bit in a more embarrassed manner. "So we go to meet in this forest like area, its pretty nice, and well I see her, and instantly I am floored. I'm nervous and gods this is going to sound awful, but I had never seen anyone like her. I was nervous cause look at me. I am like a small tiny bird, what would happen if something happened and she tumbled to the ground? Could I even help her? No that would be the answer no. I felt chained to the ground, like my wings were meant to be clipped from the beginning." Ears flickered back a bit knowing at times he had to watch what he said, he was a pegasi and he was the lowest of the low. "We talked and oh gods it took a turn for the worst." he sighed, as he wanted nothing more then to rest his head on the table and drink his misery away. Though that would only cause a mess for Vaena and he rather not have her father come down to see him in such a state. That would be the cherry on top he thought negatively to himself. wc|| 483 Tag strixx-variaaNotes|| Oh gosh me too <3 I know I will have to doodle a scene from this rp <3

It was a rough game, hiding her reactions from someone she'd known for so long. It was even rougher because (again) usually, she never drinks, and by now she's near the bottom of that glass of white wine. That's the one. Good night, what kind of strings did his parents pull? Væna knew through talk that the blue-blooded brewer led her life from a cart, conspicuously not able-bodied and fairly well-known for it. Væna was fairly certain she'd never even so much as been in the same city at the same time as Zenith (except perhaps that one time she'd interned in the royal kitchens in Inaria) but she could see now, more and more as Farsight laid out the details of his misbegotten meeting, reasons why both families might be so eager for the match. Zenith was a common horse, with no particular blessing in her genes but Argus's birth-dominant love and her late sire's affluence. Farsight was a pegasus, and had never particularly thrived on the course of rigorous self-control favored by their herd, and so he was cursed not only by his association with a vengeful god but by his own youthful deviance as well. It was still, perhaps, a step up in society for him, but as she processed the information Væna understood how neither party might desire the other. He quieted, and Væna took a moment to ask in her mother's sweet-molasses voice, "You hungry, honey?" before ignoring any possible answer and laying before him a plate of food. It was a formality, and nothing more, and he'd known her long enough that she'd be surprised if he was surprised. She'd been working behind the bar as he recounted his tale, assembling a plate from the unused portions of her dinner prep. Candied cubes of acorn squash, crunchy sugar-glazed on the outside and buttery soft on the inside. Hearty winter greens full of iron and topped with dried berries, chopped nuts, and a drizzle of sweet vinaigrette. Bread-stuffing, filling and savory, made with bits of every vegetable she could find in the garden. A plate of surplus, and an offering of the only kind Væna knew how to make. "She wasn't pleased with you?" she asked quietly, leaning close against the bar opposite Farsight. "Or you with her?" It still hadn't clicked for Væna that, from a perspective of pure civil rights, one shouldn't need to be talked into a legal union with another person. words: 410 tags: FaunaFawn notes: ♥

He took a sip of the drink and when she mentioned food it really wasn't a question in all honesty Farsight loved food. Nostrils flared as she placed the sweet delight before him. Before she could even manage asking him anything he took a big bite and nearly sighed with delight. Nothing could bring him joy like sweet delights. Yet her words caught him and he swallowed the sweets thickly. Eyes glanced towards her as he took a sip of his drink. "Well I tried to be civil I did, well she saw through it once she talked to me for a bit. She saw everything I tried to hide and likewise I was able to see everything she hide, well more or less she told me. Anxiety and all." he gave a short laugh and shook his head gravely. "I've.... I've never had to deal with someone like her before. She is brand new a whole different world to me. I mean I make my money on the streets, and she has her own business, royalty blood. Im sure my folks managed some deal. Luckily for me I make a nice trophy husband aye?" he tried to joke and laugh, but he wasn't really feeling it. "We have to put on a show, she told me I could love who ever I want, that I don't have to be faithful, but that makes my stomach turn. It doesn't sound right, but neither does this marriage either... I don't even know when Zenith's parents want it to happen. My parents are all to giddy and will go along with what they say of course. Who are they to deny royalty? Who am I to act like this for this marriage... It helps me in some aspects... but not all." he snorted knowing all to well what all Pegasi must deal with. Twice a year a name is drawn and the lucky pegasi gets to be tossed to the sea only to be eaten up by Cascade and remained in her image. As if being a Pegasi was a curse. Ears flickered back as his brows furrowed down. "If I was like you, or hippocampus or even a regular equine. Everything would be so different wouldn't it?" he looked to her. Searching for her eyes, looking deep into them as if they would hold some answer he had been looking for all his life. His own blue eyes swirled with mixed emotions as he looked to Vaena. "Sorry Vaena, don't mean to come over here and be a total buzzkill. I just... I just don't know what to do." he snorted a bit but what equine knew? Væna chuckled softly at his apology. "It's okay; this is what friends are for. We keep each other from going crazy -- or, y'know, at least we try." She gave a little shrug and the look on her face was one of commiseration, because that's what he needed right now. For a moment she flitted away and retrieved empty glasses from some patrons still at a table, and poured new drinks for the lone soul seated on the far end of the bar. In that moment Væna imagined what her father might counsel once he heard about Farsight's betrothal. "The royal gimp and your little street-pigeon," said Ikran's voice in his daughter's head. True, he'd probably never call Zenith "the royal gimp" unless he was stone drunk (which he never was, now that he'd all but stopped drinking altogether), but Væna knew her father's brand of Talori loyalty. He'd half raised her, after all, and she half agreed with him. To this day, Væna was confused about the motives of a lot of her herdmates with regards to Talori law and cultural custom; she questioned none of it, and that quality in her made this counsel more difficult than it should have been. What could she possibly say to her friend that he hadn't already heard? He was nineteen, and though in that respect he was less experienced than she in "the ways of the world," whatever those may be, he was a bright boy and surely was aware of his options. As she returned to his side (behind the bar again, so that she could keep an eye on her remaining customers), Væna took a sip of her wine again and finished the glass. "I agree," she said finally. "It doesn't sound -- right. A lot of marriages don't begin for love, but if your heart isn't pure in at least an intent to do it right, then..." The little mare shook her head lightly. "I can't imagine She would bless such a corrupt house." Gently, she swept her glass below the bar and looked him in the eye. "You don't feel you can refuse? I mean... it's definitely an ultimatum, and not a meaningful choice?" If the choice presented him was as she feared (that is to say, if the choice was between fleeing the country and taking this bride, rather than being a choice between remaining unmarried in Aquore and taking this bride -- as it really ought to have been) then Væna would need to take care not to influence him too hard in either direction, for down both those paths lie quite serious consequences, and she could never forgive herself if the path he chose on her advice resulted in a lifetime of regret and longing for the person she'd come to regard as family. words: 467 tags: FaunaFawnnotes: trying to explore a little more of her character with this. sorry for the light dialogue!

Her voice was like a melody to him, a voice of reason that washed away his doubt. Farsight valued Væna's mind, her opinions and thoughts. They were dear friends and to him she was the older sibling he was never blessed with. Eyes watched her as she served others and worked her way back towards him. Ears flickering a bit as she made her thoughts a bit known to him. Then the question, always a question, more questions than answers it seemed. Was there a choice. "Say I left, say I couldnt do any of this marriage, where would I to go? Serora would be the best bet for me, that is if not slave traders or cultists found me first." he chuckled a bit grimly. "But if I stay could we love each other? Or would we drive each other to madness?" he shook his head a bit grimly. "As for choices, well there are plenty of them. Either I leave a disgrace or stay and walk upon ice here. Marrying one of the royals, what kind of refusal would there be for me? Or would I soon hear my name called out for the newest meal of the sea?" His voice was starting to crack, he could feel the desire to sob, but he held it back. "If you were me, Væna. What would you choose? Where would you go, if you knew fate was never yours to truly have?" he looked to her with an odd look. The kind that seemed to want to stare into the depths of one's soul. He wanted to know, from a friend who wouldn't betray him. From someone that knew him inside and out, what would they do if they were in the same position as he was. Though at times he did not know better that there are some questions that are better left unasked and of course unanswered. She flinched a little bit when he said meal of the sea. I mean really, only a little bit, just maybe noticeable in a brief, sudden tension in the cords of her neck and the hinge of her jaw, but it was a flinch and it should have surprised neither of them that she did. Væna knew that her friend had always had trouble seeing the light of Cascade's truth, and she knew that he knew that she knew. Somehow this religious difference had never really driven any kind of wedge between them; their conversations were rarely pious, and more often than not the two were content to leave worship outside the bounds of their friendship. The friendship was more important than the difference, I suppose, and Væna chalked it up to the panic of the evening that Farsight would say something so blasphemous and clearly not be joking. It was something she was more or less accustomed to: the twice-yearly collective intake of breath by the entire population of Aquorian secular (or doubtful) pegasi, and the terse silence which followed until one of their brethren was chosen. During the solstices, one expected to hear that silence, that waiting. Tonight it was out of character, and it surprised her. And so she flinched. Quietly, and as gently as she could possibly do, Væna replied, "I don't know... but I think you know who I would ask for guidance." Cascade, of course. He was a good boy, for all his deviations, and Væna refused to believe that if he truly put his heart behind prayer (as she'd been trying in vain to get him to do all these six long years), Cascade would ignore him. She was the Mother of the Seas, the Foam on the Waves, the Heart of the Oceans. She was so benevolent that she alone offered sanctuary without consideration to all; surely that goodwill still blessed those who sought to bring happiness and peace into this world. But Farsight had said that Zenith was the one who was violently unreceptive, and this was what worried Væna the most. Still, she had no idea how to advise him and not make his life worse than it already appeared to be. What she needed now was to distract him, and give him time to let the ideas sit in his head, and hope that he could find his solution after his heart had quieted a little. words: 407 tags: FaunaFawnnotes: i'm not really sure where to take it from here -- at first i was thinking she could suggest they leave, but then i realized she's still got customers. ^^; leaving it up to you, or if you don't have any ideas either, we could time skip, or new thread, or just end it here/soon? i'm open! ♥ editing my tag because i'm retarded

He looked down at his plate and suddenly felt so guilty, he knew better then to throw everything at her, WIth his petty remarks on his dwindling faith in Cascade, when she was devout herself. Though would he have been so devout as well if he was anything, but what he was? When all of Talori gave thanks to new sacrifice for Cascade. How everyone was excited that they would be free from Alya and would be reborn anew in Cascade's image. It just made him wonder what was so terrible for being a pegasi? He looked to her as she mentioned of who to ask help for. Cascade. Out of all the times he had prayed to her, would perhaps she answer him when he felt at his lowest? He wasn't to sure, but what other choices did he have. Maybe it was right, she always tried to get him to be more devout to Cascade, to always give it another try, and another one after that. In all honesty, he was pretty amazed by Vaena in her devout ways not only to Cascade but to her restaurant, friends and family. He'd never seen her turn away a equine who was down on their luck or needed help. Farsight had come to her constantly and even now she has offered up her valuable time to help him. Yes he felt guilty, he had a fine knack for that. He offered he a small smile and nodded his head. "You're right, maybe since I feel like I'm already at the bottom of the sea, maybe then she'll finally hear me." he chuckled a bit and looked to her. "Hey if you want, would you like to meet up later tonight? Once your closed and such? I can meet you back out here?" he offered her a bigger smile, and wiggled his brows a bit as if trying to entice her with the offer. wc||326 Tag strixx-variaaNotes If you want we can do a bit of a time skip to later that night if you like? Væna only half-smiled at first, and there was a distinct air of pity hanging around the look on her face, but as Farsight finished his thought her smile grew. The silliness on his face in the light of such alarming news would've struck her as wildly inappropriate if she hadn't been so damned relieved to see it there. Væna laughed, freely. "Yeah, I'll be awake. You know the drill."
It wasn't even immediately after he'd left that the little tawny-colored mare could let her concern overlay her own expression; for the next hour or so, she still had customers in the restaurant, and she had to play hostess. You know, come to think of it, if Væna wasn't so good at her job, she might've found a place on the stage. The service industry trains good actors. He came downstairs as she was clearing up the last table. "Væna." She spooked a little, and dropped a glass. It was heavy, and didn't break, but she felt the blood rush to her face in embarrassment. Picking it up as she whirled to face him, there on the bottom of the stairs behind the bar, Væna breathed a heavy breath. "I'm sorry, Da; you frightened me. I was -- lost in thought." Ikran's stern face peered back at her from the dark (it appeared he had descended from their apartment without turning on the lights in the stairwell, and so the only light where he stood was the dimmest of glows from the restaurant's remaining atmosphere). She thought he might've found something wrong in the books, but in a moment he cracked a smile across his tattooed face and she breathed a bit of relief. "Want to be careful about that," he said. And then, after a brief pause: "Open late tonight." As she rounded the bar with dirty dishes in her telekinetic hold, Væna passed her father in the stairwell and gave him a smile. "Yeah; had some lingerers." She shrugged lightly. "Didn't bother me." Væna adopted her father's truncated speech patterns when he was present. She was somewhat aware of this, but after more than three decades of slipping into the habit, she was also somewhat unwilling to 'correct' it. And, also -- Please go to bed, please go to bed, please go to bed!"You're up late," she said instead. If her father was downstairs when Farsight returned, none of the three of them would have a pleasant evening (and Farsight would have an even worse one). "Just books," he replied, and followed her to the bar sinks to help wash glasses. He looked at her sideways as they worked. "You know," he said slowly, as if he wasn't sure which words he needed to say, "it's probably past time you learned to do them yourself." This took Væna completely by surprise, and she nearly dropped another glass (in the sink, this time). "Really?" Her father was the on-paper owner of the property and the business, and still did the bookkeeping and the legal work (Væna'd assumed) because he'd always been strict and had a hard time fully letting go of important responsibilities. To hear that he wanted her to take over even some of that work showed a shift in his thinking she'd thought she'd never see. Væna had been under the impression that her father would die before she was allowed to look at the deed and file taxes and do the accounts. "Yeah," he replied as they finished with the glassware. He seemed uncomfortable now, too, like being caught in the act of delegating to his daughter a task she earned years ago was somehow embarrassing. "You should know how to run it all. For when -- things happen." Because for when I die probably would have cemented her opinion of his managerial style, and he was a keen horse. "Yeah, okay," Væna replied, hardly able to keep the gleeful joy out of her voice. "When?" Ikran was heading back up the stairs now. (Internally, Væna breathed a sigh of relief.) "I'm not foraging tomorrow. Make time." "I will. Thank you!" "Don't. It's overdue." A pause, and then: "How long you staying up?" Væna's breath caught in her throat. Until Farsight's drowned his fucking sorrows?"Uhm -- well -- I still have to clean the kitchen, so -- " "Right. I won't wait up for you. 'Night, Væ." "Night, Da! I love you!" "Love you, too." And he was gone, the sound of his hoofsteps disappearing up the stairs, and now she just had to pray that Farsight didn't stop by for the next few minutes while Ikran fell asleep. words: 767 tags: FaunaFawnnotes: awww, the poor little babe! ♥ i do like the idea of skipping to later that evening, so i went with that for now. :D editing my tag because i'm retarded

Farsight || Harrower || Talori
Vaena nodded to the agreement of meeting up later, and he smiled softly to her and spoke. "See you in moon light." he chuckled a bit and placed a few coins on the table to pay for his meal and drink. He hardly ever allowed for anything to be on the house when she offered or said so. He dipped his head towards her and scurried out before she could say no. Soon he was out and wondered aimlessly yet found himself where he needed to be. ________ At a shrine to Cascade he looked up to the porcelain idol a bit confused on what to do. He had seen many on their knees praying, while others look into the statue's eyes and spoke to her as if they were alone. Yet as Farsight walked towards the statue, it seemed he was indeed completely alone. Alone with his thoughts alone with Cascade. Ears pinned to his skull as a sudden look of anger consumed him. Like fire to the forest it was eating him alive. " Why?" he shouted out at the statue, his single word filled with enough emotions to set the whole temple aflame. Yet nothing happened. Nothing. He sneered a bit and was ready to turn tail, yet he remained where he was. He felt so much rage, so much raw emotion, why couldn't the flames subdue. " Why?" he called out again as he looked up to the statue with hatred. " Do you hate me so much you'd do this to me? Do you so look so lowly upon my form that you curse me to a life where I will never be free? Cage me like pet birds. Was this the life you have seen fit for me?" he sneered out the words, and he should be thankful he was alone at this moment to let out all his rage. " Why Cascade? WHY?" He almost screamed as he suddenly spread his wings and was soon in the air. Each movement of his wings, sent him further up and soon he was looking the statue in the eyes, as he hovered there, "Have I not followed you, have I not begged for mercy, to be washed clean in your image. To gain your favor. Have I not been exactly what you all have wanted me to be? I have followed the rules, I have tried to not sin in your eyes. I've tried to do everything to please you Cascade. Everything I have done, I've done in hopes for you to see me. Do you see me now Cascade? Do you see me now?" he hissed out those words, but tears fell from his eyes. Each tick in time more tears fell from his face. " Am I not what you wanted?" he whispered out and it was in this moment, he felt the waves of sadness wash away the flames of rage and anger. Wings faltered in step and suddenly he was on the ground sobbing at her base. " Oh Cascade, am I not your child? I need you... I need you." he sobbed out. His body shook and wavered with each pitiful cry. Why was he but to be a caged bird in life? Surely there was more to life than this? As the tears ceased to fall, and his breathing evened out, he laid there in complete stillness, and somehow there was a bit of peace in that still moment. How even after a rageful storm, there was the aftermath, the stillness, the quietness of a new day beginning to ripple through. Maybe Cascade couldn't answer him, she may never. But he tried and that was all he could do. He lifted himself up and walked out into the world once more. The moon was high and he soon made his way towards her restaurant. As he reached Vaena's place, he poked his head up through the window trying to get her attention,hoping maybe she would see him and let him know if it was safe to come in. He kind of smiled softly, as he lifted a wing waving it a bit, hoping to catch her eye. " Vaena" he whispered at the glass before suddenly place his face on it, fogging it up with his breath. Good thinking Farsight. wc||718 Tags|| strixx-variaa Notes|| Ahhh I love Vaena and reading her little post and seeing her relationship a bit with her father was great! The tiniest noise by the little bar window caught Væna's attention, and on any other night she'd have figured it was those little translucent geckos chasing moths across the lighted panes -- but not this night. As if she hadn't seen him in years, Væna's breath caught in her throat and she whirled in place to see the window, her pale tawny hair spinning around her head just a moment behind the motion. " Farsight." It was a murmur from her lips, just the tiniest noise, like a breath of calling. "Thank you, Mother." (Just a little prayer for his safe-keeping, because tonight he could use all he could get.) She wasn't sure he could see her nod him over to the door through the glass, so she walked as quietly as she could across the dining room's wooden floor to open one of the big double-doors at the front of the Lady. It might've been closer to cross the kitchen and open the back door, but the kitchen's floor was clay tile (loud) and directly beneath her and her father's living quarters (indiscreet), so the sandy-hued mare figured it was in their best interest to go the long way. Poking her head out the front door, she stage-whispered around the corner of the building. "Farsight! Over here!" words: 216 tags: FaunaFawnnotes: yesssss i am all over your post! thank you so much for being patient with me through april by the way, and i'm sorry i didn't post earlier this month. i got pretty distracted by rl ponies (tizzy and i got third in our first show together this past sunday!) so my online ponies got pretty neglected. ^^; very excited to be back though! it's weird, writing this for væ really felt like i was seeing an old friend for the first time in a long time. was thinking they could go chill in like the drink cellar maybe? or one of the larders, idk.

Her voice wafted to his ears like a passing breeze it was a warm welcome to him. Something that made him feel a bit better. " Vaena" he remarked in a hush tone and followed her in and remained as quiet as possibly as he treaded towards her and slipped into building. He tossed his head a bit, his messy bun, become even messier, to the point it was even a waste of time to have up. " Your father finally asleep?" he remarked with a coy smile, in a teasing manner. Farsight seemed a bit light hearted, though still his heart felt heavy. His words to Cascade, had they fallen on deaf ears? Or did his wings doomed him to a life of silent treatment? He wasn't sure, but Vaena was strong in her faith, tried to make Farsight strong in it as well. But there was a difference between the two and sometimes that's all it took for the odds to be in someones favor over the other. Ears flicked back as he let out a soft sigh. The kind that showed all something was still troubling the young speckled stallion. Something still weighed so heavy upon his shoulders. A burden, he couldnt manage to hold, yet continued to have it weigh him down. " It'll get easier won't it?" he asked her, with a hopeful yet sad look to his face. His voice faltered a bit, the way it might seem like it would crack in a second, yet there he stood trying his best to look whole. To look like as adult like as he could. But he felt more like a child than anything else. "If... if you've decided to stay, and try..." she began gently, hesitantly, "then I think... I think it must get better." Naive, probably, and certainly pure optimism, but after all that's what Væna did best. Because in her mind, the effort could never go unrewarded. Just look at her father! He was never happy, and yet -- And why didn't she say this aloud? "Just look at my da," she said quietly, pouring herself (yet another) glass of sweet white wine. "Him and mum were arranged, and he's a hard person, but they worked out okay in the end." The tawny mare shrugged sheepishly as she took a sip of her drink, and was grateful for the cold trickling down her throat. "They both had to work pretty hard at it sometimes, but they did, and it was okay. They loved each other. They were happy." That last bit may have been more or less a lie with regards to her father; Væna had never quite been convinced that Ikran was truly happy. Oh sure, on a kind of small scale he showed signs of happiness, and she was sure he wasn't unhappy with any of his children, for example, but he was so grumpy most of the time that it was hard to think he had a free heart. And she'd never been told anything about her parents hating the idea of marrying each other the way Farsight was talking tonight, either, but it was the only comparator she could think of, and she hoped it'd bring him some comfort. But just in case it didn't... She gestured over her shoulder at the dark, close stairwell leading down to the cellars. "You want something?" Because if she couldn't comfort him with words, she'd wine him and dine him until his baser instincts were too satisfied to leave room for higher processing. words: 311 tags: FaunaFawn notes: awww honey! -hugs- no worries here, dude! writer's block hits all of us. i'm glad you're feeling better though!

Farisght Harrower of Talori
Farsight listened to her, she had a way with words didnt she? He thought to himself as he found himself nodding along. Understanding that sometimes this could be a blessing in disguise as well. But it was hard for it to feel that way, when it seemed not even she really wanted him, and that made it a low blow to his own self esteem. He was a pegasi, he was already being looked down upon. He sighed a bit and nodded once more. He perked up a bit as she offered him something to drink and it made him smile a bit. If anything, it was always nice to rink with a friend, he thought with a faint chuckle."A red sweet wine would be good." he remarked with a nod. "You're right though... Maybe it won't be perfect at first, fixing two strangers together, but if someone could make your dad happy well I'm sure maybe I could make her happy too?" he remarked with a faint smile, though he still had his doubts. Eyes lingered to Vaena and asked her. "Do you worry you'll get paired up too? I know some don't follow the tradition of arranged marriage, but do you fear it?" he asked. He never assumed his own parents to do such a thing. Being a pegasi, normally didnt let such things happen. But here he was engaged to a family member of their Emperor and he wondered, was he merely a pawn in this game? He felt uneasy a bit and felt the need to to fiddle with something. He withdrew his harrowing cards and fiddled with them a bit as he shuffled the deck. "If you want I can do a free reading for you." he chuckled a bit as he would never ask her to pay regardless. He smiled a bit, feeling a bit more natural as he shuffled the deck, it was as if the cards was part of him as well.
