Perhaps a tad infamous, the Solstice Celebrations will be upon you again... in time. It is time to begin preparing for the lively celebrations set to occur. Entertainers are designing their sets, business owners are decking out their store fronts, children are playing with colorful paint and streamers. How are you preparing (or causing trouble?)? Location: Inaria Time of Day: Mid-morning Current Weather: Sunshine and intermittent clouds that keep the sun from getting too hot on your backs. This thread is open to all characters in the Talori Faction! You don't have to register to join in!

Daksh;Talori | Redeemer Memories, shards in my chest. I remember. I remember. I remember.
Daksh wandered the streets, skin prickling. This was usually a time of... unease. While Daksh had never been against the sacrifices- he firmly lived in Talori tradition, the sacrifices were still something that had always made him nervous. When he was younger he knew he could not be chosen, but the thought of another heading to their fate was not a good feeling- even knowing that the sacrifices were important. And now they were no more. Things were changing, but Daksh still felt out of place
There was still a celebration, and the pegasus wasn't exactly sure why. What were they celebrating at this point? The solstice, was that all? Everyone seemed excited. There were preparations under way, and Daksh wasn't sure if he would be welcome or not. But he went to the city anyways. It was something he was trying to do more often- to assert his place into society more (he belonged, he belonged, he belonged). A mantra sang in his head.
He found his way to some of the stands, eyeing the different trinkets with interest. He felt that he was starting to relax, which just made him more relieved. Nothing out of sorts had happened just yet. Maybe he could even strike up some conversations. He had hopes, and that was a start. Time was slowly letting him come back to himself, and feel comfortable milling around with the general public- especially with such a big celebration coming up.
Even though he was out and about, he definitely didn't look as eager as some horses did. He still tried to remain small and unseen.

Luna Talori - War-forged Emissary
......
The sunshine shined on the mare's forehead as she walked through Inaria. It was a time of celebration. The Solstice Celebration is her favorite celebration. The atmosphere in the city is always so lively during the celebration. But it felt a bit weird for her; this was the first Solstice without a pegasus sacrifice. Luna had grown up traditionally and highly believed into the sacrifices, but times has changed. Her stubborn and inflexible nature prevented her accepting the change, but she had months to think about it. Maybe if given more time, she will accept the change?
But that wasn't where her mind was going to now. She was enjoying the atmosphere around her. The mare walked to a vendor whom was selling some food, buying a mix between fresh and dried nuts to snack on during the festival.
With a sack of delicious treats, she set down herself on the fountain in the middle of the square. Luna felt right at home in the midst of the celebration, wishing that it could go on forever as loved the lively atmosphere.

Sinclair grinned despite herself. She had always loved the Solstice celebrations, though nerves prickled underneath her coat each time the name was said now. She could not forget what had happened previously, the terror that the Flight had caused. Yet, she saw the preparations as a new chapter, a new page in history. It was time to rebuild. The Flight may not have been decimated, but she would do what she could to make its influence on her life the very least it could be.
So, Sinclair set up wares. She remained loyal to Zenith’s brewery, keeping the shop in check for the horse, though she suspected that Zenith would not be returning to Aquore. She set up the stand in front of the store-front with medicinal potions as well as the average joke potion, something that the children would enjoy. Once satisfied with the array, she looked up and was quick to recognize the council woman. “Councillor Chantelle!” She called out, recognizing the mare. She’d always kept up with the officials and their names. “I didn’t expect to see you out during the preparations!”

Abinadi rarely found himself unable to walk along the streets completely relaxed, but it appeared as if this was one of those rare times in which he felt not… out of place per se, but certainly something similar to that. It was likely the hustle and bustle that caused his nerves. That and the reminder of what had happened at the celebrations previous. He was quick to dismiss, or at least as much as he could, the notion that anything would go wrong. He was quick to lose himself to the crowds and the preparations. He noticed horses familiar to him, it was rare for him to meet anyone he didn’t find at least a little familiar, and greeted them kindly. He nodded to Councillor Chantelle, a friendly face from work, as well as to Emissary Luna, who he recognized from her foray into politics. She must not have been sent to her assignment quite yet. Abinadi could not say he was surprised.
Despite all of the familiar faces, Abinadi was quick to notice the pegasus that looked just a touch out of place. He was even quicker to fall into step with them. “Are you enjoying the preparations?” He asked Daksh, his voice rich and warbly. He went on, “Sometimes they’re a bit too much for me… everyone milling around like they are.”

Daksh;Talori | Redeemer Memories, shards in my chest. I remember. I remember. I remember.
He noticed the horse who appeared at his side. He noticed the wings first- bright and green. And then his gaze went to the others face, and he recognized him. Daksh wasn't big on knowing who was who in the government, but he knew this pegasus as a councillor. He had been intrigued by the other horse. When the other pegasus had been elected- well, Daksh had been happy, and impressed. Corr had said this was a voice they needed. Daksh had been quiet about his approval, still worried that others would look at him with displeasure for his agreement in this. But he was near enamoured, and having Abinadi before him was a lot.
His gaze flashed around, wandering if the other was really talking to him. Stammered words escaped his mouth, and his ears heated. There weren't many familiar faces to him on these streets- and no where to escape to. "I- uh, yes, in a way. I-I don't usually come to events like this." His wing tucked in tighter to his body, an unusual pleased feeling filling him at the notice of the councillor. He tried to hide his surprise at the fact that Abinadi found discomfort with the crowds. Daksh thought something like this would become second nature to a horse in his rank. This fact made Daksh warm to the councillor. "The crowds can be a bit much, but I'm surprised they could bother you." He didn't mention that he thought that because he was worried about the looks he might get, the whispers of disapproval.

GIDEON Gideon had always had a special fondness for the Solstice Celebrations. This time they would be different, and although this saddened him greatly, he also accepted that there was little to be gained by fighting against those changes. Not right now, at least – they were still rebuilding, still searching for a return to Cascade’s glowing favor. There were alliances and enemies to consider, and rather ironically, both fronts wanted the sacrifices to remain gone. And so the Talori adapted. Not eagerly but adapted regardless.
Gideon smiled at a child who ran past with colorful streamers, and then another who looked like some paint had been splattered on him as a prank. The Defender raised an eyebrow at the display, but as the children seemed to be having fun, he did not stop their messy little game. His attention turned back to the vendors, and the other horses milling about. He had come for the party atmosphere and the people, more so than any of the goods, as much as he loved to support real Talori products.
Spotting one of his Guard Commanders among the people, Gideon walked up to the man, who was already in the company of the Emissary, Luna. “Commander Basileos”, he greeted jovially, dipping his head only very slightly, as he considered them old enough comrades to forego very formal greetings. “Emissary Luna”, he added, with a slightly deeper nod. “Good to see that the fair weather has brought so many of us out of our abodes. It is good to see such cheer again”, Gideon went on, smiling at them both.

Kalis - Young Filly - Shoal
To say she was excited would be an understatement. Kalis was exuberant. Preparations for the celebration were underway and Kalis couldn't be more excited to be in the middle of it. She wanted to be one of the first to see what the entertainers had planned- the new decorations across storefronts and of course the paint. Oh the paint! That was the most exciting part- okay, perhaps only the second most exciting part but it was differently up on there on the list of things she wanted to do!
The streets themselves, however, were the first obstacle. Her cart echoed every bump with a little jump, jostling her hind quarters as the wheels bounced over slabs of stone and dirt. Kalis didn’t mind this so much, she was used to little bumps that came with running at high speeds over the terrain, but if a stick got caught in the mechanism that allowed the wheels to spin- well, that would be a problem! It took a lot of self restraint to keep her front hooves at a steady trot, but for the sake of comfort she tried her best.
Honestly, would it kill someone to make the roads a little smoother?
Kalis’s large ears swiveled as she took in the sights and sounds of the festivities. She was looking for someone to pelt with paint, someone big, someone adult. Possibly with a bright white coat, so the color would stick out more. For target practice.
There, a dark bay hippocampus with deep green fins, perfect! Perhaps not exactly the target she was looking for, but they were a fine specimen nonetheless. Kalis took her glasses off, rubbed the surface clean than settled the rim securely in place over her muzzle. She stuck out her tongue, readied the ball of red paint, and threw it.
Splat! Bulls-eye!

Odysseus Guard Commander | Talori
"Lift with your knees, Atlas, the heavens are a burden, but in the starlit ink of the constellations, you have written: ENDURE."
Guard Commander Odysseus couldn't help but let himself teeter on the edge of caution -- that's just how his mind functioned, how he chose to live his life. Better to air on the side of caution, after all.
He wants to smile. He wants to bask in the warmth that comes with times like these. After all, it was a time of celebration, was it not? Or that had been what his sisters had told him; their words skittering past their lips with a giggle as they scurried away, leaving their brother to his own devices for the time being.
As he watched them go, partly relieved that they felt comfortable enough to wander off on their own, he couldn't help but feel this sense of unease crawl up his spin. It was an old habit that he couldn't shake -- a feeling that never seemed to go away. And as a reminder, the curs along his face seem to burn at the mere thought of what could happen. What if's seemed to be a big part of his life nowadays.
The sounds of his sisters' -- very distinct -- laughs carry over the noises of the crowed. Sucking in a deep breath, he steeled himself; after all, he could fake it, for them at least. Plus, the last thing he wanted was for them to never shut up about him being a stick in the mud. So for now, Odysseus bides his time wandering from vendor to vendor; his wandering eye being caught by a few things here and there, but nothing being enough to fully capture his attention longer than a few seconds...
Too busy remaining vigilant to indulge in his own desires.

Abinadi smiled at Daksh, noticing almost immediately how the pegasus’s demeanor changed, if only minutely. “Don’t be nervous, I’m hardly anyone you need to impress,” Abinadi said placatingly, noting the stammer in the pegasus’s voice. “I lived however many years taking care of the Temple. It was hardly a job that had me in the spotlight,” Abinadi explained, “Though I’ve stepped out of those shadows in recent months, I am still unacquainted with the recognition,” He nodded his head off in the direction of the other officials he’d noticed, “They’re much younger, they look better in front of a crowd, I think,” he joked, his eyebrow raised playfully.
He watched as children played in the streets, wholly unconcerned if he got caught in the crossfire of one of their pranks. “If you do not often come out to these events, what has lured you in today?” The councillor questioned, cocking his head curiously. “I hear there’s a food stall thats serving samples of the dishes they plan to prepare for the actual celebrations just down the street. I heard the food is very good,” He mused as they walked along the streets.

“Oh, certainly, I know what it’s like not to be able to keep away from the celebrations,” Sinclair answered kindly, “but business is nice! I plan to open shop during the actual celebrations,” The servant answered. Then, she introduced herself, her laugh bright as she did so, “Apologies, my name’s Sinclair.” As soon as she finishes speaking, she spies the small tenderfoot fixing to splatter red paint everywhere. Taking a step back playfully, she does nothing to warn Chantelle and grins as the paint splatters over the councillors coat.
Turning back to her stand she picks up another balloon, a specialty of hers and, in playful revenge, tosses it at the young filly, grinning as the balloon hits the ground and explodes into colorful, powdery clouds. In the next moment, however, she is leaving the councillor and the filly to their fun, a bright smile telling them she’s glad to have made their acquaintance.
Instead, she turns her gaze to the guard commander browsing the various stalls. With a call, she beckons him her way, “Guard Commander, you look as if you need something to relax. I have some tonics here that relieve stress,” She supplies helpfully, as well as teasingly, when addressing Odysseus. “You’re welcome to try a sample or two,” She continues.

Luna Talori - War-forged Emissary
......
The mare looked up as she was greeted by a heavy set silver roan before her. She dipped her with the following words softly leaving her mind. "You're always more than welcome to join me.". With her teke holding her snacks, she made place for the stallion to sit down at the fountain, smiling she said; "Yes, i'm Luna." She studied him for a few seconds, unsure if she had seem him before. But then she remebered. "Basileios, wasn't it?". She always remebered faces, but never names. She was happy that she even could remeber the names of some war-forged officials. She remebered the stallion by his dark sclera of his eyes. It has always frighted Luna a bit, but it was something you get used too at the end of the day. After all, what had she to complain about? Her fur is tattood full of stars and other symbols. She had gain a few remarks about it, but much did she not care about that.
Another stallion approached them too soon.
"Emissary Luna."
Luna turned her head to the grey guard commander, returning his greeting by dipping her head "Defender Gideon". The mule's ears perked up; "I have to agree with you. The sunlight is an absolute blessing." She said as she quickly glanced at the sky before looking back at the two stallions. "There is nothing better than a good Solstice celebration on a sunny day."

Odysseus Guard Commander | Talori
"Lift with your knees, Atlas, the heavens are a burden, but in the starlit ink of the constellations, you have written: ENDURE." The faint call of his title is enough to draw his attention away from his deep thoughts and the stall he had been hopelessly eye -- a rather poor attempt at busying himself during the celebration. Taking in the appearance of the light coated mare, he's still so deep in thought that it takes Odysseus a few moments to even realize what had been said to him. Clearing his throat, he straightens out his neck and fixes his slouching posture -- caught off guard by a civilian. How lovely.
"A stress reliever, eh? That sounds too good to be true... At least to me." A light smirks curves up the corners of his lips, and what sounds like a gentle laugh vibrates from his throat, shaking his body. The promise of stress relief did sound rather nice to him -- it was certainly something that would more than benefit him. And what was he going to do? Decline the kind mare's offer? He might look it, but he wasn't that mean of a person.
Odysseus closes the gap between himself and her stall quickly, all smiles as he approaches. "That is far too kind of you, Miss...?" He stumbles over his wounds, realizing a little too late that he doesn't have a name to put with the face.

C I R C E ❅Talori | Agent [WF]❅
Fall seven times, get up eight The war forged agent tailed her emissary. Circe looked up at the buildings, not noticing as Luna slipped away from her. The hippocampus sighed, looking around.
She was tired. Just in general. The woman glanced about, spying her emissary speaking to the defender and a guard commander. Circe turned her eyes to the crowd. Another councilor, and a filly. A guard commander and a white mare. A redeemer and yet another councilor. Circe blinked almost sleepily around her, before picking up her hooves to carry her to the stalls. Her eyes caught on the sweets and a spring came back to her step. The honey roan burst into a grin, her tentacles open and waving as she burst into a canter, calling out a happy greeting to the stall owner.
It didnt take long for the mare to prance away from the stall, now the proud owner of two bags of sweets. She happily munched away on a cookie she had gotten, going to set up shop next to the fountain. There, she supposed, she would eat her sweets and wait to be spoken to. Or for Luna to finish her conversation. Either or was completely fine with her

Daksh;Talori | Redeemer Memories, shards in my chest. I remember. I remember. I remember.
He ducked his head down, feeling a bit foolish that Abinadi called him out on needing to impress him. Daksh wasn't use to being around horses such as the councillor. Those with authority. He felt like he might be more judged, but the green winged pegasus didn't seem like the type.
Daksh's gaze followed the direction that Abinadi nodded in. He noticed there was another councillor, and some other higher society horses. He didn't realize that this event would draw so many officials. A stir seemed to be caused as paint was flung- but no one seemed to mind too much. It only added to the joy that seemed to surround Daksh. "I've been trying to come out more to events like this. It's been- it's been hard." He felt vulnerable speaking such a thing. It only highlighted the pegasus' troubles with himself and society. He still wasn't sure where he fit in, to be quite honest.
"I bet the food is very good. I figure only the best for this celebration." His feet slowed as he looked curiously towards where the paint had been thrown. A young foal had seemed to do it, and a small smile graced his face at the innocence. It was nice to see. "Are the celebration preparations always like this? This lively?"

Kalis - Young Filly - Shoal As the paintball hits its mark the tenderfoot giggled. Dancing on her hooves back a couple paces, readying herself for a retaliatory projectile. It didn't come from the direction she thought it would. Another mare, someone she didn’t recognize but who had been previously talking to her target, threw a balloon at her hooves. Out of surprise she let a short peal of laughter.
As the mare turned away, a parting smile, Kalis shot a grin at the retreating mare. Now that, is what she’s talking about! Kalis made a point to memorize the equine’s coat, perhaps she would meet her again sometime. She seemed cool. As this thought crossed her mind, the mare she and originally targeted broke out into laughter.
Kalis’s ears flicked in the Chantelle’s direction as the mare approached, and when she spoke, the foal’s eyes widened. “It's a mixture I made myself!” Kalis chirped with pride. She couldn’t stand still now, shifting her weight from one hoof to the other in her excitement. With all that movement, her glasses slide down her muzzle and she paused to push them back up again. “I do,” she said, revealing a small poach. The foal grinned up at Chantelle in mischievous glee. "What do you have in mind?"

GIDEON His eyes darted momentarily to the other conversation groups that were forming. He could recognize another Guard Commander, Odysseus, a bit off from them, as well as a few members of the Council. Truly everyone seemed to have come out for this preparation, although by the look of it, most of them were here just to feel the good cheer in the air and smell the fresh produce. He doubted any of the officials were going to provide decorations for this event.
When a young filly with mobility gear vanished with admirable speed among the crowd into the direction of one of the Council, a shadow quickly passed over Gideon’s eyes. A quiet, gnawing longing that he could not quite place, even if he knew the source of it. Never mind that. It was a time of celebration, and he would not be the one to bring discussion to anything dark.
“A reasonable worry, I admit”, he said to Basileos. He too had worried, of course he had, especially after Flight’s little display with the blood. But it had been quiet, and although there was a certain benefit to your enemies being loud, he appreciated the apparent ceasefire. “But this. This is good. Seeing equines of all stripes come together to create something beautiful – it is as it should be”, Gideon summarized his own thoughts. Although seeing pegasi in positions of power was still somewhat strange to him, he had trust in Cascade’s plan. He knew enough winged equine to know that their skill of craft was no lesser. The touch of Alya did not taint the soul, only the body.

I S Y K L E Female | Outcast | Talorian
Izzy wasn't sure of this whole... Go be social thing that Thad and Nagisa seemed to be pushing her forward to do. The memories of her past life, if it could be called that?, swirled around in her head. How she had murdered, killed, destroyed everything she loved and held dear... Nights after that she would wake up in cold sweats, screaming for her mother. Nagisa and Laurens always came running, always ready to be there as she sobbed and pleaded for them to forgive her. Even now, as she cautiously, slowly, stepped hoof out into the open, the Kirin Teen felt those judging eyes on her form.
Pale slitted eyes looked around at all the goings on, watching the buzz and feeling the excitement soak into her hide. With her mothers help, the Kirin was slowly getting over her anger of feathers, slowly. The memories gave her some reason for the rage and the ability to fight it. Yet Isykle was completely lost within the hustle and bustle of those around her. Everyone seemed to be busy doing something and yet all she could do was stand there. Overwhelmed was an understatement. She just didn't understand how to engage...
Though, the only way to do anything was to try and how proud would her mothers be if she came home saying she had actually managed to make a friend, even one? Yet there seemed to be more and more pegasi the more the young kirin looked around. Her heartbeat sped up and the Teen stepped off to the side to try to gather herself. Maybe she couldn't do this afterall... Why couldn't Thad or Nagisa be here with her? Laurens even? She needed something to ground herself...

------------------ Thadeus ------------------
Thadues had started the day in a mood even more sourer than usual. His mother, Nagisa, and care-taker, Laurens, had gone off to the Temple of Time. Apparently his mother had some important things to there and needed Laurens' help getting there and settling in. And apparently the trip was too dangerous for kids. It wasn't like the young colt had never been in the wilds or anything. Granted, every time had been either caused or resulted in a life or death scenario. Perhaps it was too dangerous. But that still didn't change the fact that he was angry at them for leaving. Ever since they left Torrine he had been able to spend less and less time with his mother. Within the camp, She had been smothering. He couldn't go anywhere without her hovering over him. He had prayed to Cascade for just a little distance just so he could actually be able to DO things, but now that it happened/was happening, Thadeus didn't like it. He missed his mom.
The circumstance made him nasty to be around. An unmotivated smart-ass is what he turned into and his tutor and current care-giver his mother had left him with had had enough of it. "Why don't you go outside and see how the solstice preparations are coming? Your lessons can wait till later." Is what they said to him.
'Whatever', Thadeus couldn't care less, but he was as sick of the tutor as they were of him so here he was, wandering through the streets of Inaria. He knew Isykle had left their house some time earlier, he wondered if he'd be able to... AH-HA!
"IZZY!" Thadeus called out to her. She was pretty easy to spot in a crowd. "Izzy over here!"

GIDEON Gideon’s eyes strayed to the two new youths as well. One he recognized immediately – this was Thaddeus, Nagisa’s son. He had seen the boy occasionally during their imprisonment in Torrine, although never really spoken to them. Looking at the hippocampus it was easy to see reflections of his predecessor, the Protector Thaumas, who was sorely missed for more than just his professional contributions. The other child he did not know, but the scales were not those of a hippocampus. A kirin? Distaste showed in his eyes for a few brief moments, but Gideon let go of the feeling, for now. This was a child, after all, and it was a grand holiday they were preparing for. Better not let anything tarnish the mood.
His attentions returned to Basileos, and he smiled. The Guard Commander’s words echoed his own feelings quite well. The threats were there, heavy and looming, but so was hope. They were again united – Torrine lay empty. There would be a Solstice, even if it would be different than before. The Flight remained, yes, but he could not imagine that they could take the nation unawares again, nor that so many citizens would support them after the suffering they had inflicted, and the unrest that followed. Their enemy would undoubtable try something else next time. They would have to be prepared, but the future was only for the Clairvoyants to see, and his own blessing was of a different kind.
“I think we all needed it”, he said, smiling softly: “This unity. This hope. Our herd, whole once more. We must build new, deeper roots into the seabed. Without dissent the Flight will have no support, and without support, they will fade into history.” He looked at the children again and nodded to Basileos, and then at Luna. “I will leave you now to the conversation I disrupted. May our great mother bless you both and all you do this day”, he said, and moved past them back into the crowd, nodding at Odysseus as he passed him, and headed for the kirin child, looking at them with open curiosity.

Luna Talori - War-forged Emissary
......
Luna had quitly dosed off while the two equines who were next to her continued talking. She had barely any sleep the previous day as she had found an interesting book. So of course, she had periods that she fell asleep on the spot for like a minute or two. So that's what happened. Yet again she had dozed off.
The mare shook her head to wakee up quicker. Quickly she continued to eating her dried fruit and pretending to be following the conversation. She was embarrassed to the bone, wishing that she could just dive into the ocean and never return. She was in the company of the Defender and a Guard commander, and she falls asleep? It was awfull.
But before she could catch up the conversation, she saw Gideon leave. The only thing the mare could say before he got of eyesight was "May our great mother bless you and all you do this day."
Now she was alone again with Basileios. She hope he didn't saw her sleeping. The mare already had a bit of a unstable status with her being a bit different than the rest, being fully tattood. She knew that it was frowned upon, but she did not care that much when she got herself tattooed. But now being an emissary, maybe she would have thought twice before doing it. But nothing to be done now. She is still kinda proud of them, but the frowning is something she rather not had.

Kalis - Young Filly - Shoal
The approval from the mare was enough to make her chest swell. Without thinking how rude or boastful it may come across Kalis said, “I am!” It was true, she was! Chantelle continued and Kalis found herself liking the mare more and more by the moment. She was different than the few adults she knew. Something set her aside from the Clerks and her father’s comrades. It reminded her slightly of her mother- the mare just had the air about her, that kind of motherly warmth. Kalis followed Chantelle’s gaze, quickly spotting a lone mare, Circe, enjoying a delicious looking treat. Indeed, she made a tempting target. Why, while enjoying a treat so mouth-watering, the mare surely wouldn’t notice them! But they had to act quickly, who knew who else might have their eye on the mare! The young filly snickered, giddy with the prospect. “I couldn't agree more. Let’s do it!” Shifting through her poach, Kalis found two balloon of an ideal size, and passed them along to Chantelle. Leaning up to the mare with a crooked ear turned towards their target, she whispered though perhaps not as quietly as she could have in her excitement, “You take the left, I’ll take the right.” Quietly as she was able, Kalis pulled the cart forward. Mindful of the bumps and seams in the road that would jostled the cart and rattle the frame. The cart was designed to be large enough to hold her weight, but because of this, its size would make sneaking difficult. To account for this, Kalis circled around behind Circe, hoping to stay out of her field of vision. As she neared her target, Kalis bit her lip. She took aim, adjusted her glasses one more time, and tossed her balloon.
