The silence after the avalanche was perhaps in some ways worse. A larger sound, something that almost trembled in the air with an inaudible (but so very tactile) presence.
Actually? The air was trembling. Not the ground, (not yet, anyway, no need to get cocky) but flecks of snow and ice danced in the air, which had grown… not painful, exactly, but wrong. As if it were thinning, draining away. And with it, perhaps, you as well.
There was a sudden, wrenching snap, as if reality had realigned. Or perhaps broken.
For one moment your group was standing in the aftermath of the avalanche, and the next...
Hm.
There had been a massive, cracked pillar jutting from the snow. But now?
Now you were staring into the depths of a chasm and the remnants of what had once been a grand, sprawling city indeed. The city seemed to flicker, shiver, and you felt your skin ripple in response. Strangely, the city that had appeared suddenly in the chasm beneath your hooves was untouched by snow, or the elements at all.
Perhaps that was when you noticed that you were not alone on the mountain anymore. Several other equines were visible, they too looking down at the city in shock and wonder. They did not seem to notice you. They also did not seem to notice the snow, because it was passing right through them.
For one full rotation (each character posting once), your characters can see and hear what the characters in WF 702: Hunted are saying and doing, but they cannot see you!

Adair War-Forged Shield Post V || 667 Words
It happened so quickly. There was a sound like a -CRACK-, and it was as though the world, and his very self had changed ever so slightly. When Adair blinked again, he was deep below the earth, in a cave he had never seen before. What was this? Was this Kaia's doing? Rune seemed to quiet down- in fact, the stone was as cold as snow. More than that however, his group wasn't alone anymore. It was a bit of a shock to see his siblings right there. They had gone away in another mission. Adair called out for them, but they didn't seem to listen. He pinned his ears back to his head, staring at them. "What is going on here?" He murmured. It felt too loud, but the other group seemed to still not listen. It was then that the Shield noticed the snow, passing through their bodies as though they weren't really there. Dear Kaia, what is happening now? Adair glanced at Edmond, then Marshal, and decided that he would accompany them. Whatever reason they were here - if it was really Kaia's doing - was because of the other group, yes? He sought Marshal's eyes for permission, then huffed and fell into step with Alyshia. "Aly?" Adair whispered, right beside her ear. His sister didn't respond. "Addy? Ales?" He tried again, to no avail. Adair suppressed a shiver as he noticed that Alyshia's glow seemed in sync with the cave. What power was at play here? It was then that the procession stopped. Adair frowned at the chasm, then gasped a warning as Ales dived down it- which of course, was useless. What was his brother doing? What if there was a trap or whatever they had been hunting before them? The rest of the group seemed to be willing to follow, and Adair watched in stunned silence as Addeva produced a stone path out of thin air. A pleased, if shocked smile graced her brother's face. He had never gotten the chance to work alongside his sisters before, and part of him envied Lark for having been given this assignment. Adair briefly wondered if Hira had even considered him, before sighing and chasing the thoughts away from his mind, guilty. He fell in line with the rest of the group as they crossed Addeva's bridge. Adair looked down, wondering what would happen if he were to slip. He would rather not risk finding the answer to that. What greeted him when he joined Ales was shocking: an ancient city of gem and stone, crystals glowing in tandem with Aly's chest. Adair shared another surprised look with Edmond. "... they depict Kaia's children alone." Adair snapped his attention back to the Valkyrie, silently cursing himself for letting his awe get the best of him. How foolish of him. He studied the walls again, noticing what she had said. It was true- had they stumbled upon something so so old, older than even Rune perhaps? The lindworm's stone was still ice cold, but excitement seemed to come out of his pocket, an ancient, savage sense of belonging. Adair didn't comment or look at the rest of his group. Instead, he took a defensive position quietly besides Alyshia, wishing bitterly he was there in body as well as spirit. This was no time for such thoughts, as Adair could not forget the reason why they had been out in the mountains. Yet, somehow, they were brought here. He wasn't sure if the creature they had veen hunting would still be around the cave or not, but they were clearly brought there for a reason. He would remain vigilant but would follow what he hoped was Kaia's call. Adair then tuned everyone else out except his father, deciding they ought to keep going, and praying they would be sent back when this was all done. This mystery and his siblings' well being were in the forefront of his mind. He only hoped this adventure would not end in tragedy.

Edmond watched as the world around him snapped out of place before coming back into focus, his question still echoing around him as he looked at the others before finally letting his eyes fall ont he ground beneath him. He felt his stomach lurch uncomfortably as he suddenly heard his daughter's above the sound of the settling snow and wind around him.
This was by far the strangest thing he had yet to witness... and he had watched Kaia grow a tree before him in the very council chambers he worked in. Quickly, the stallion turned his gaze downward, attempting to take note of all that was happening. Ales, as per usual, was diving down head first without asking questions... Alyshia grabbing her sword, giving the stallion yet another wave of nausea. If it wasn't for the concerned look Adair shared with him, he would have thought his exhaustion was getting to him.
Hell, maybe it was. The city beneath them was more than just an image in that moment. If he hadn't known better, he could have fallen into the chasm and landed beside his daughters with a heavy thud, but something told him that wasn't what was happening. The ancient city that towered around the horses was enough to bring Edmond's thoughts to the sound of what he could only assume was the creature they had been hunting in the distance... though maybe he was imagining that part.
Gods above, he sure hoped that his kids weren't literally walking into a dangerous situation. Though knowing their luck... they probably were...

Hawke Stone Circle | War-Forged
"Forget stardust -- you are iron. Your blood is nothing but ferrous liquid. When you bleed, you reek of rust. " Hawke absolutely despises silence; they hated the way it made their skin crawl, their stomach churn. Hell, at this point, they were prefer the Valkyries to start bickering with each other over this.
The snap had startled them. Of course it had. They were still wound up from the beating they had received. Hawke found it difficult to breath under the silence.
They had to be going crazy. They were sure of it. That was the only way to explain this...
Or perhaps not. A quick glance around told them all they needed to know; they weren't the only one seeing all of this.
Hawke watches, silent. They just couldn't shake the feeling that they were losing their mind.... But then again, stranger things have happened in the past. And nothing seems to be right anymore.
It takes them a few moments to begin moving forward, their mind reeling and their heart thumping wildly in their chest. It wasn't often that they felt on edge -- so on guard -- but this... This seems like a good moment to do such.
Before they moved on, following Adair's movements, Hawke does a quick once around of everyone in their general area -- including those who had materialized out of thin air.
But from the Shield's calling to the Valkyries of the other group, Hawke doubts any of them would hear their worries and concerns if they did choose to vocalize them.
Walking among those who did not know they were there, Hawke took in what was around them. An ancient place lost to them all... And Hawke... Hawke was absolutely speechless.
"These works... They depict Kaia's children alone."
Hawke's attention snaps towards what exactly the Valkyrie was looking at.
Destroyed and lost to time, wasted away by nature, the images were a little difficult to make out, but in the long run, they were unmistakable.
Though, even in a place not of their time, there was still this nagging sense in the back of their mind -- that something was still lurking out there; that they shouldn't -- couldn't -- let their guard down for even a split second.
What happened to that creature they were supposed to find?

Icabod | The Stone CircleIcabod had dug his hooves in deep as the avalanche washed over them. Nothing particularly awful happened, but he was still worried. Luckily, the snow passed right over them all without any injuries. As the shield began to crawl back, he noticed a strange shape with his tremor sense. Then everything changed in the blink of an eye.
The stallion gazed down at a pit with a city deep inside of it. There were other horses, from the sounds of it, they were related to a couple of his companions. Icabod tensed a little as he gazed around the seemingly ancient city. His owl landed back on his withers and gazed down with him. Confusion washed over the roan, then the confusion turned to an unsettling fear. Icabod cowered back a few steps, his breathing becoming shallow. He wanted to know what was going on, wanted to explore, but he'd had so many awful experiences with strange caves in the past. He squeezed his eyes shut, trying to chase away the memories, before examining the city again.
Icabod let out a deep breath. He noticed images of Kaia's children. He felt something in his gut tighten. There was something strange and godly going on, but no one seemed to know what exactly that was. "Umm, ya guys think there's anyway we can figure out what's going on? Find some way to get down there? There was a pillar here before, maybe if we find the pillar we can find out what's happening."

The air around the group changed. The mare felt as if static pulled at her hide before an audible ripping sound echoed in her ears. As if realities fabric violently torn apart. The blue haired mare lost her breath for a moment. Like all the air in her lungs disappeared and her stomach dropped. Alvane winced. Scrunching her eyes in discomfort. Upon reopening them the landscape changed. She thought perhaps the avalanche had uncovered the new land around them.
The mare re-balanced herself, taking in her new surroundings. Looking for landmarks or something she had seen before. But nothing seemed to click. What was this place? Where was it? Something moved in her peripheral. Causing her to turn her head to the movement. Equine shapes moved and it took her a second to adjust. Familiar and newish faces seemed to present themselves. A cloud of mist left Alvanes mouth. Her jaw agape. Was this a sick joke? Or had they been mysteriously teleported away from their previous scouting area?
The equine faces were familiar. Valkyries. Alyshia, Addeva, Nott. And Froya. Alvane’s eyes went soft for a moment. She respected the mare greatly. She could only imagine the painstaking trek back to Skeldr without the warlord's son. Ales was as familiar to her. Previously taking the colt on a camping trip which was a training exercise. Sadly ending shortly after running into a group of Flanks. And lastly Lark. A friend. The mare blinked a few times at the Shield before calling across to him. “Lark!” It wasn’t urgent. Rather more endearing or perhaps playful. She made herself know and moved across to greet him. Alvane heard Adair do the same towards his siblings but was given the same reaction. Nothing. No reaction, not even a flinch. She was baffled if not a little annoyed. But she followed. Continuing to try and his attention. Even getting in front of him and walking backward directly in his path. Waving her Black and Blue smokey teke in front of his face. “Is this a joke? If so, you’re not funny.” Alvane shrugged her shoulders at the rest of her group. “What in Kaia’s earth is going on?”
Reaching the chasm she looked down over the edge. This was … new. She hadn’t seen this before. The young mare Addeva gathered her blessing forming something stable to walk on. Alvane was impressed by the little mare's ability. She had come a long way since that night they found the Bloody Flanks. The blue haired mare followed along. Minding her step.
Soon they stood at the bottom. And what a sight to behold. This wasn’t anything she had seen before. Her face filled with bewilderment and awe. “What is this place?” She spoke aloud, loud enough for everyone to hear. It echoed a bit off the chasm walls. “Could this be from before? From the time of the gods?” Alvane questioned. The structures were almost pre-historic. The walls depicted detailed carvings of Kaia’s creations. She moved back over to Lark again. She waved her teke in his face again before getting fed up. In a last-ditch effort, the teke wrapped around one of his braids. Giving it a small tug.

The wall of snow had crashed against the barrier she and Edmond had made. Delta felt phantoms of the force against her chest as it hit her shield, like vibrations on glass. She fought the reflex to step away, knowing that if she did, her force field would shatter.
Once the rushing snow ceased, she let down the semi-invisible wall, with Edmond's plants shrinking back into the earth. Attentions were drawn to a massive shape and the mare took a moment to observe Adair's own Ignacio Blessing. She had also been given that one as a choice. Ignacio's Gaze, to keep her eyes on the path of Ambition. It hadn't looked like Adair was well practiced with the skill, though she didn't doubt he would improve with time, as she had with hers.
It was only moments later that she realized that no wind blew, no noise from nature could be heard. The silence was eerie and unsettling. She heard Jeremy whimper in what she assumed was light fear as the small bat scooted further under the armor's fabric. Delta stood frozen in place as the air around the group vibrated and then suddenly snapped. The piercing sound startled the dappled mare and she screwed her eyes shut, flinching as if someone had struck her.
When she opened her eyes, they were no longer on the mountainside, but rather under it... sort of?
She watched in confusion as Adair, Alvane, and others tried to get the attention of those they were in the cave with. Her Sisters and some Shield's Delta didn't recognize. She also noted that, although she knew her hooves were on solid ground, it didn't seem like it was THE CAVES' solid ground. The stone felt unfamiliar and...wrong. She was also see-through, as were the others in her group. Even the small snowflakes that floated down from clouds that didn't exist passed through those who had found the cave first,
“We're not actually here, I don't think...” she said quietly. Her voice didn't echo, as it should have when inside a cave. It was flat, like speaking in a room. The underground city was another shock and Delta could only stare at the ancient structures. She merely observed in silence, following the others as they all seemed to halt at a carving of some sort.
Froya's voice drew her attention, “These works … they depict Kaia’s children alone.”
The dappled silver mare suddenly felt very out-of-place. She was not of Kaia's creation. She was Cascade's Child and she couldn't shake the immediate feeling that she didn't belong here.
A low rumbling growl she finally heard sent a wave of fear through her veins. It was a sound she had heard before. “There is a Lindworm in the cavern.” she breathed.
Turning to face Alvane the mare offered her an uneasy smile, “You know... Maybe we should have turned around...”
