Hello Starborn, and welcome to War-Forged Plot 705: HunterTeam Leader: Marshal Participants: Adair, Edmond, Hawke, Icabod, Bellium, Delta, Alvane Please keep the following in mind!- Posts must be a minimum of 175 words. There is no maximum!- No strict order is enforced, but there must be at least two posts between your own character's.- No god-moding or reading characters' minds (unless your pony is a literal telepath, anyway) - Always get consent before harming another character!- Your team is precious. Try to interact with everyone. <3- Have fun! Even if your pony isn't. 8'D Prompt: Weather witches had speculated, perhaps desperately, that the advent of summer might bring an end to the alarming tremors that were shuddering through Skeldr. But the geological activity has, if anything, grown worse. More alarming still, reports have come in of strange sounds beneath the earth, sounds that no tremor should ever make. Resources are stretched thin, but the War Lord has finally allocated some personnel to searching for the source, if any, of the mythical creature reports. Your group has been tasked thus, and sent higher up Skeldr’s slopes, into areas not passable by hoof in the colder seasons. Scouts have reported strange sounds and prints along with worrying tremors. Whether or not you’re chasing an old mare’s tale, you still need to keep your wits about you as you cross a snow-field, ever-present at the higher elevations. You have yet to find any strange prints, but those with Earth blessings are uneasy, on edge. Something feels off... Location: Higher up Skeldr, near the edge of the treeline. Time of Day: Late morning Weather: Cool, windy You do not have to wait for your leader to post!

Marshal | Stone Circle
Cold wind blustered about the snow field. Apart from the wind whistling in the treeline and crunching of snow under hooves, the field was quiet. The story was different underfoot. Underneath the snow and from the earth came odd sensations. Those who could listen to the earth found it unsettling and Marshal was no exception. Although his blessing was still new to him what he felt from the dirt and stone beneath made him wary, if not scared.
Grey teke tugged at the collar of the grizzly pelt, pulling it up slightly on Marshal's still fluffy neck. On his right side was slung a crossbow, one he called Razor after receiving a close shave from it during a Vindicator ambush. On his left was the firearm, a fresh wick applied before the group had left. The trek so far was uneventful, though Marshal anticipated they may run into a hungry bear on the slopes. But thus far, nothing. The grizzled horse was starting to feel the wear of the steady pace they'd been putting on and Val, his wolf companion had started to fuss and nose at his hocks picking up that he was sore.

Edmond had awoken that morning to a messenger from Hira standing on his doorstep. It wasn't anything new for the stallion, as he had dealt with Hira calling on him at... odder hours during his time with the Stone Circle, but it had still caught him off guard. They exchanged words briefly, Edmond gathering that he was being called out on a small excursion; the hopes of finding out the cause of the tremors being the main focus of the outing.
Adair was to be coming with him, something that Edmond couldn't help but feel relieved over. After their most recent talks, he knew that the boy was at odds with his ability to work and felt as if Hira didn't trust him with harder tasks.
Maybe this would be a good experience for the boy. He had set out to the small plot of land that his adopted son had built a home on and had called him to action, both stallions dressing for the colder weather without much issue. Edmond called his pygmy griffen and his mammoth together, and they had set out to meet up with the group.
Now, as the sun was beginning to slowly creep towards midday (though it had yet to pass), the group was trudging it's way through the snow fields, quietly following behind Marshal, the older Stone Circle member who had been tasked as the leader. The feeling beneath the stallion's hooves was familiar, as the world underneath him felt wrong in some way.
"Feels like when the fissure opened up in Skeldr a few months ago." He observed. "I'm guessing we're going in the right direction; aye Marshal?"
He had asked more to get the group to interact more. They had all been quiet aside from a few small murmurs here and there between members, and although he wanted to focus on the task at hoof, he also doubted their group would be able to catch whatever this creature was off guard.
Though he sure did hope they found it and were able to handle it... whatever the creature was. Thinking back to the tunnel that he and the others had fallen into. There was a small part of him that was more than a little excited to be out hunting this beast. He just wished that Fijalahr could have been with them; he had wanted to go after this creature just as much as Edmond had.

She had been ready to go before Hira had even sent her first messenger out the door. The silvery dappled mare wasn't a stranger to recon missions. Her last one had ended quite well, all things considered... not so much for the cultists though. They should have thought better of attacking a fully armed team of Valkyries. As soon as Hira had informed her that she was being sent on a mission with members of the Stone Circle, she made for the armory. On her way there, she quickly re-braided her mane, running the finished braid back up her mane into a tight line, making sure her forelock was out of her eyes.
Her armor wasn't difficult to pick out. Not many in War-Forged would base their armor on the scales of a dragon. The rough textured metal was heavy but she had trained with it every day, jogging up Mt. Skendr's steep paths for hours with all components resting on her back and shoulders. She was thankful for her father's Percheron and Shire blood and her mother's Akhal-Teke stamina.
Quickly she tightened the buckles of her chainmail and back piece together, followed by her bronze breastplate. Her carbon-steel pauldrons and rear plates were promptly fastened afterward. The last piece of armor she donned was her helmet. The metal gave the impression of a dragon's head, with burnished steel plating on the muzzle, mimicking the thick plates on the front of a dragon's face.
Grabbing her Claymore and buckling it to her left side, she made her way out of the fortress and to the foot of Mt.Skeldr's path. Usually, she would have forgone her armor's heavier pieces for a simple recon mission, but given that the Stone Circle members were going to be present, she opted for formal rather than practical. Also, the last time she hadn't a Cultist managed to gain a lucky blow to her hindquarters with a sword, resulting in her walking with a limp for a good month.
Now that the party members were all accounted for, Delta was strictly focused on their path ahead, keeping a sharp eye for any kind of disturbance amongst the snowfield. Her Pallid Bat, Jeremy, had decided to tag along and was currently resting under the green fabric at the mare's right shoulder, taking shelter from the chilly wind. Delta's thoughts wandered a bit, thinking about what it was they were apparently hunting. Mythical creatures that lurked beneath the earth.
She had met a Lindworm before while in the company of her fellow Valkyries not two months ago. It had been passively neutral to their existence, thanks to the fact that it's Stone Bearer was a relative to Froya. They didn't just appear,
“Just thinking out loud, but if this is a Golem, we might be in a bit more trouble than we thought. They can't just appear when it suits them. They are summoned. If they destroy something, it's either by honest accident or because they were told to by the horse who holds their Stone. I'm actually almost positive that the whole 'they would never harm a child of Kaia' bit pertains specifically to Unicorns, given that Unicorns are literally children of Kaia,” she said, eyes scanning the landscape around her as the group walked, “Probably stating the obvious, but it might be wise to look for a horse out here that we don't know if we do end up seeing a Lindworm. Odds would be that they are the problem.” 585 words || post 1

Hawke Stone Circle | War-Forged
"Forget stardust -- you are iron. Your blood is nothing but ferrous liquid. When you bleed, you reek of rust. "
Hawke wasn't unaccustomed to the odd arrival of messengers, having grown used to them appearing at random times of the day. They were barely phased when they opened the door to find one standing in front of them. They took the message with a displeased grimace, head tilted to the side of if she was hearing the most boring story to ever be told. A soft 'thank you' is all they gave in return, closing the door behind them and grabbing a few things that might be needed for the trip -- the sword strapped to their side feeling heavier than normal.
Akari was already gone, having left earlier in the morning. Hawke, for a brief moment, couldn't help but feel a strange sense of pride welling up in their chest at the thought of their daughter aiding where she could. But, Hawke couldn't allow themselves to dwell on the thought for too long, they had more important matters to attend to -- like the party that might leave them behind if they didn't get a move on.
With the sun creeping its way up into the higher points of the sky, Hawke found themselves in the wake of Marshal, the eldest Stone Circle Member, who had taken it upon himself to be the leader of this mission. Hawke busies themselves with taking quick notes about how many are among them -- they clearly recognize their fellow colleagues, a pair of Valkyries, a Raider and a Shield; sufficient enough protector for the Stone Circle if it happened to be needed.
As they trudge forward, they focus most of their attention on the way their metal leg crushes the snow beneath them, grumbling when a joint sticks slightly before moving -- damn the cold.
Their attention snaps forward at the voice of Edmond, though once it's decided that those words weren't necessarily directed towards them, they decided to keep their mouth shut... Oh, what the hell, this trip was going to be a long one if no one talked.
"Hopefully so," they snort, watching the fog rising from their mouth, "I'd hate to be wandering aimlessly in the wrong direction." They say more to themselves than to anyone in particular -- hoping to keep the quite air full with something, anything.
Hawke, in truth, had already considered the strong possibility of it being a Golem, but the words of one of the Valkyries confirmed that they weren't the only one considering it.
"Golem. Great -- that is just what we needed." They muse. "Well, if that is the case, please do share if you see anyone or anything we aren't familiar with, hmm?"
Ultimately repeating what the Valkyrie had said, Hawke is more than adamant to make sure that others understand the importance of reporting any and all unknown figures. With their blessing, currently, they could only sense those standing around them -- everyone was accounted for, and no extra souls where in their immediate area...
A good sign for now.

Bellium | Onean Raider
The wind whipped the unicorn’s red-tipped mane and tail as he stepped forward, sturdy legs carried the equine on his way. The young stallion had left early this morning to meet with the group he had been tasked to meet with.
The trembling earth under Skeldr, his home, was certainly unsettling, though it was hard for the young raider to keep calm and collected at the prospect of finding out what exactly the tremors were. He felt a certain excitement as he continued. Confidence in himself ran high, for he had never felt any particularly deplorable fall from grace, this was the beginning of his career and he was excited if this somehow panned out to be something bigger than a tale of folly.
Ruby-red eyes gazed over the others in his party, noting the presence of higher-ranking individuals, that would probably do him well to treat in a respectful manner. He also noted the Valkyries, not with disrespect in his heart, but certainly a bit of unknowing. He figured that as a good, strong raider he should be ready to protect anyone that needed it, that was what he was here for right?

Icabod | Stone CircleIcabod had been sleeping peacefully in the home of his lover when there was a loud knocking at the door. He didn't want to wake her so he answered for her and luckily the message had been for him. It never ceased to amaze the stallion that the messengers could find him, he always seemed to be on the move. In any case, Icabod was more than ready for the mission, he was new to the Stone Circle, so he hadn't gotten out there for anything in relation to the job.
The day they were to meet, Icabod pulled on a polar bear pelt his family had gifted him. He hated wearing pelts for warmth, but his fur still hadn't fully grown in since he'd shaved to go to war so many months ago. He was glad to put all of that behind him. Icabod then grabbed his waraxe, a hefty weapon perfect for cutting down any and all foes, and strapped it to his side. He was never going to be caught off guard again. Even though his raider days were behind him, he couldn't shake the feeling that he might need to fight at any moment. As he left the house his owl swooped onto his back. Normally Icabod would have shooed him away, but Sleet was big now, he could escape if need be or even help out.
They seemed to be on the move the moment they reached the group, which the stallion was grateful for. He hated waiting around, especially when there was an important mission to be had. Icabod scanned the group and immediately felt himself shudder from discomfort. He didn't know any of them. He was the odd one out. The newbie. But, Hira had trusted him to be in such an important role, so he would swallow his worries and continue on. Besides, this whole thing was a clean slate. He planned not to annoy the hell out of them like he had done so many times in the past. He kept his head down for the start of their journey and trailed a few strides behind everyone else.
As time went on he began to wonder what the disturbance really was. A few others spoke up, causing his worry to flare once again, although for different reasons. He shook his head. "We can handle a golem if that's really what this is. And no way is anyone going to hide from us," he spoke confidently. Even if they couldn't spot whoever could be leading the supposed golem, they would be able to feel it. Well, at least he could with his tremor sense. He was certain at least a couple of the others probably had similar blessings.

Adair War-Forged Shield 431 words | Post I
It had been early when Adair was roused from his bed by a knock on the door. He had shifted and eyed the empty spot where his wife, Chekilla, should have been. Right, she had traveled to visit her family and sell some goods along the way. Much to his surprise, it hadn't been Ales playing a prank on him, but his adoptive father, Edmond, decked in clothes better suited to cold weather and proper armor. Lad's heart had lurched, his mind jumping to the day when a tree burst from the Stone Circle chambers with a cryptic warning from Kaia. Or was it about the earthquakes that continued to plague them? Were the two connected? His father wouldn't show up dressed like that if it wasn't serious... Edmond confirmed some of his guesses. It seemed that War Lord Hira intended them to tag along with a team to figure out just what, exactly, was causing the tremors, up in Mount Skeldr. The thought lifted Adair's spirits, it had been a long time since he had wanted to get a proper, important assignment from Hira. (Not that the others weren't important, a small voice on the back of his head mentioned, and he pushed the guilt away.) So, Adair had too, dressed up for the mission, pulling on some armor and fur and cloaks to protect him from the cold. Just before he left the house, the Shield instinctively grabbed the small black stone and stuffed it in his pocket. Now he was only partially listening to the talk, eyes scanning the terrain around them as usual. His attention was snapped back to the group when the Valkyrie he believed was named Delta mentioned a Lindworm. Adair tensed besides Edmond, teke reaching inside the pocket of his fur cloak and touching the old stone carefully. Golems, right. It hadn't been long since Adair found out the very ordinary object he couldn't bring himself to throw away was... Well. A giant rock snake. It hadn't been the most casual of encounters either: the lindworm had sprung from his pocket when Alyshia had been turned into an unicorn - and pissed off freaking Kaia moments before, nice going - and had nearly eaten her snow leopard, Poofkin. Ever since then, Adair had coaxed Rune off his stone a few times, all happening when he was sure he was alone. Rune was violent and aggressive but... Seemed to have some grudging respect for him. When he wasn't trying to eat him, that is. He hoped whatever was causing these tremors wouldn't convince Rune to join them...

"It very well could be a Golem, though I wouldn't be so certain about being able to take it on." The stallion rumbled, his ears flicking forward as he listened to the others talking. "When the fissure had opened up in Skeldr Town three months ago, it had lead into a decent sized cavern below. Golem or not, the creature definitely has the capabilities of being dangerous."
There was a moment's pause as the stallion took a brief second to glance at his adopted son. Adair had tensed slightly at the mention of Golems, which only reminded the stallion that he hadn't been the only one to bring his familiars along in case things got messy. The younger stallion's rock golem was still an enigma that was being worked out, but all in all, Edmond was sure that if it came down to a fight in the mountains, they'd all be well enough prepared.
He was glad that he had asked Hira if they could go after the monster, though he wasn't convinced that his discussion alone had persuaded her. Either way, the stallion was relatively relieved that of all the family members that had been asked to travel along this path, he had been given Adair. He shuddered at the thought of his daughters coming along with him or his youngest son, Ales. The boy had good intentions but monster hunting wasn't.... really a good idea for the boy.
Little did he know somewhere in the valleys below, the other part of his family was on a similar mission; investigating a new fissure that had opened up in the ground.
For now... it was for the better the stallion wasn't aware of what the rest of his family was up to...

The mare couldn’t help but feel she was being punished for something. She should be out there helping look for Grigory. For the Cult. She wanted so bad to get revenge. To run the red mare that called herself Voidra through with her sword, Nightshade. To kill the bastard that took her eye. She wanted so bad to burn them all to the ground. The colt was her responsibility and she felt like she failed her Warlord. She could tell how broken Hira was. How much the mare hurt at her missing child. Lark had been comforting too. The chemistry wasn’t there she knew that much. But he was kind enough to lend a shoulder if she had difficulty sleeping.
Alvane had been back no more than a month. Pissed off she’d been made to recover and recuperate while others went looking. But that was her. Pushing herself to her limits and more. This mission was the first she had been a part of since getting the all clear. She was surprised she was allowed to go back to work after such a short time, but she wasn’t complaining. Though, this was not what she had in mind. While others were sent towards the south. She was sent to the north, up the mountain. Although she protested. Her claim was denied. Restlessly she got her things together. Most of it had been replacements after the cultists took the things she had on her. As well as a few new things she bought after coming back. Including some pauldrons and a new long sword. She looked like a walk and sass-talking arsenal when she left. Better to be prepared than not. Right?
The mare made her way with the group up the slopes. Keeping to herself and being pretty quiet most of the way. Only half listening to what was said. “And what if it's not a Golem?” She remarked. “What if its nothing? Hmm? And we were sent all this way for nothing.” Her tone soured. A sigh fell from her mouth. “We should be going in the other direction. Not chasing after an old mares tale.” The mare picked up her pace. Her eyebrows furrowed as she began walking ahead. The sooner they get this over and done with the better.

Delta, for the most part, had been listening to Jeremy chatter to her. He wasn't fond of the cold wind and desperately wanted to go home,
“Mu~uuum! It's snowy and yuckie out here! Can we go back yet?” the small bat complained like a foal and was just as persistent. Delta just told him a curt No and he went back to grumbling to himself, huddling further under the fabric of her armor.
The voice of her fellow Valkyrie, Alvane, was enough to drag her attention back to the group. She looked back at the mare as she kept walking, fixing her with an unimpressed frown, “If it's nothing, then at least we know that and have nothing to worry about,” her voice was firm and scolding,
“But say we listened to you and turned around right now and there WAS something out here? Then what? Are YOU going to be the one to tell HIRA that, at your suggestion, we abandoned our mission and allowed our enemies to practically ambush us from behind? The other direction isn't were the fissure that split Skeldr Town started.” She knew that the accusation had been a low blow, given the other mare's recent loss to the Cultists, but the dappled mare continued,
“Golem's are nothing to take lightly, Alvane. They are unpredictable at best. A small one could level Skeldr Town in a day. A big one could do it in seconds. And there ARE big ones. The last one I saw was 60 feet tall and roughly 80 feet long. He was made out of Carbon and Iron, two of Kaia's strongest elements. And even if it's not a true Golem, we have a horse who is masquerading as one to worry about instead, or have you forgotten that Shape Shifting is also a possibility here?” and with that, the Dappled mare picked up her pace to fall into step beside Adair, casting him a friendly glance.
She leaned in to murmur something to him, so only he would hear, “I saw that,” she told him gently, “You tensed up when I mentioned a Golem then grabbed something in your pocket. You have one?” she asked calmly, genuinely wanting to know but not afraid of the fact that he very well might have a Golem Stone on him at the moment. It would grant them a slight advantage if he did, should they have to fight.

Marshal | Stone Circle
Marshal considered Edmond for a moment. "Right Way" was a tough call. They could easily just be chasing ghosts up here. Following some phantom quaking in the earth. They'd been trekking for some time now and with the distance already covered it could be called a goose chase. The old Stone Circle didn't want to try confirming that this was for sure the right way, but right now it was the only way. He listened back on the assembled group. While it had been quiet nearly all the way up, it seemed the higher they went the more everyone spoke. He listened to the theories. Yes, a lindworm could be the cause, but from what word passed to him the damage done seemed to be far more than what any lindworm known to him could do. But, in that defense. He didn't know a lot of lindworms. Marshal kept listening. Passing ideas was turning into bickering. The two Valkyries were after each other and Marshal fought the itch to join in. But not on Delta's side. He knew all too well that failures happened, sometimes at the cost of another. It's hardly something anybody ends up proud of. Marshal's breathing had gotten deeper as he stared ahead, doing his best to stay focused on the horizon and not the harsh words being thrown around. His wolf Val trotted forward and nosed up at his muzzle. "You are ok. The yelling is not for you." Though he didn't understand the whimpering, her presence was always calming.
Wait. Just then. Something ahead, just up the slope. Whatever it was moved fast and had disrupted a snowbank ahead. Marshal's grey teke wrapped around the firearm and he began bringing the weapon from it's holster. "Everyone halt!" He shouted back at the group and stopped in his tracks. He strained to look where the shape had disappeared, but with only one useful eye he just couldn't get a better look. The feeling in the ground was threatening. He had felt avalanches before, but not through his blessing before. Marshal froze as he felt it first in his ears then in his bones. Shaking himself to focus the scruffy horse started stepping backward, firearm drawn, but held close to his body.

As the group continued it's way through the snow, Edmond took the time to focus more heavily on the path in front of them. His mind set on the missed opportunity of using the sight to see ahead and scout. If he had been a wiser horse, he thought to himself, maybe he would have chosen a blessing like that to help out in situations like this.
But there was really no reason to ponder the past, nor did he truly regret his choice in the blessing he had received, as being a changling had it's perks when in a position like his. He huffed slightly, cold air billowing in great clouds from his nose as he finally picked up on what the fillies were bickering about.
Mares. He thought coarsely, holding his tongue as they continued up the slope. Surely if this had been a real hunting party, the group would have been a bit more heavily armed and ready for a fight. Alas, the stallion didn't feel it was in good taste to say as much out loud, not out of fear of sounding hypocritical, but instead because something else had caught his attention.
He missed Adair's flinching, the quiet sentiment Delta had whispered to him, and a few other small occurrences within the group, if only because Marshal's posture had changed. "Everyone halt!"
The stallion stiffened, recognizing the very distant rumble in the ground. He by no means had Marshal's gift of Tremor Sense, but he knew that noise anywhere.
"Everyone fall in! We're getting snow!"
The stallion, however, didn't exactly listen to what Marshal said; instead moving closer to get a sense of where the snow was coming from. Standing still behind the lead stallion, the younger stone circle member felt an idea forming. "Marshal, which direction is it coming from? I can try to shield us with Kaia's plants." He tried stating it loud enough for the others to hear; maybe
It wasn't a sure fire means of protection, but he couldn't just let the group die. His mind already turning towards Addeva's beloved parents and their deaths due to an unexpected avalanche.
He refused to end up like them. Quickly, the stallion reached out towards the flowering plants nearby, ready to force them to grow rapidly to protect his herd-mates and fellow travelers.

Adair War-Forged Shield 504 Words | Post II
The Shield watched as the Valkyrie Delta seemed to be very offended by the other's comment. Wryly, Adair hoped it wouldn't escalate. They should be focusing on whatever-it-was, not wasting their energies arguing about simple theories. He remained quiet, however, unbothered or willing to comment on it. Adair thought back to what Alyshia had told him about the Valkyrie. "She is... Um.. Something," were the words she used, before telling him Delta had beheaded a Cultist in one of their missions. Mares.Almost as though she heard his mildly condescending thought, Delta apparently materialized out of thin air to join him. " I saw that," she spoke in a quiet voice, before pointing out what exactly was in his pocket. She looked innocent enough, and Adair mildly wondered if by some reason she decided he'd be better off without a head, if Rune would defend him or let her do it and become her new best friend. Adair frowned at her. Fine. So be it. " He's not exactly house trained." His tone was defensive, almost snappy. "Believe me, if he showed up now, chances are our problems would double instead of being solved." The horse shrugged, his years of being trained to be polite making him feel almost guilty. " It's not like-" Whatever he was going to say was cut off by Marshal's shout. Adair looked ahead, squinting. Something felt... Heavy in the air somehow, though he did not have any blessings from Kaia, Marshal's tension was showing. Then there was a low rumble all around them, as though Kaia had decided to open the maws of her earth and swallow them whole. Adair had heard that before, and for a second he looked at his father, wondering if he, too, was thinking of Addy, and what would happen if she had to hear that her father and brother had been lost to- " Everyone fall in! We're getting snow!" To an avalanche. For a split second, Adair wasn't sure if he should obey Marshal. His first instinct was always to protect the others, do something, maybe focus his best and have Rune block the path of the snow somehow. The other was the need to obey his superior. He froze for a second. In the end, however, Adair chose his usual response- listen to whoever was in command. The rock in his pocket seemed to vibrate in time with the rumble, and Adair held it tighter. Oh, please not now, he begged his familiar. " Marshal, which direction is it coming from? I can try to shield us with Kaia's plants." Edmond's voice snapped Adair out of his fear-induced shock, and he fell back into the stance drilled into him by training with his birth father and Uncle Muiris: tense, but ready to act at a command from one of the Stone Circle. Adair shot Delta a glance, wondering what she would do. " Well, let's see his thoughts on this." He muttered to her at last, just loud enough to be heard. Rune seemed agitated.

Hawke Stone Circle | War-Forged
"Forget stardust -- you are iron. Your blood is nothing but ferrous liquid. When you bleed, you reek of rust. " Hawke feels their brow twitch up, a headache beginning to form in the back of their mind. Letting out a loud snort, Hawke watches the fog that raises from their nostrils; by Argus, they couldn't wait to get this over with. They had more important things to do than babysit a handful of Valkyries... Though their bickering has calmed down for now, something the Stone Circle is grateful for.
Things changed in the air around them. They didn't need the Sixth Sense to detect the change in Marshals' posture, in his attitude.
"Everyone fall in! We're getting snow!"
Their breath hitches somewhere in the back of their throat. Snow. Great, absolutely lovely, just what they needed.
For a very brief moment, Hawke wishes they had gone with something more practical for their gift. But they weren't going to think anything less of what the Arcane god had given them --
Wait.
Rushing forwards, Hawke, once again, takes a mental note of how many are around them. Eight in total. Seven not including themselves in the mix. Turning to face Marshal, their gaze is intense as they speak quickly and with purpose.
"Argus has blessed me with Sixth Sense," her gaze tears away from Marshal to do one more head count, to ease the worry in their bones, "It's not strong enough yet to pinpoint everyone's location, but if anyone gets lost, I should be able to sense their..."
Hawke pauses, fighting the urge to say bodies, "..I just have to be in their general area," then they remember something else, "I was a Medic before, if anyone does get..."
It wasn't much, but it was something. A small comfort in the back of their mind that they might be able to aid.... With both their blessing and the knowledge they had stored in the back of their mind.
Preparing for the worst, Hawke chuckles at the fact that it might be an avalanche that finally does them in. By Argus, if this was going to be how they go, why couldn't the Ursa Major have taken them out all those years ago?

The mare held her tongue. Delta’s disapproving tone rubbed her the wrong way and she wanted nothing more than to cut the mare's tongue with a dull blade. Delta’s words were nothing but rambling. Muffled in the wind that blew towards the group. Whatever she or Hawke had to say fell on deaf ears and a steely irritated glare as Alvane continued ahead of the group. If they changed direction she’d correct herself.
Her mind went back to Grigori. The Cult. A fit of anger brewed within her. She didn’t regret trying to save the foal. Her only regret was that she didn’t succeed. How underpowered she felt against them. How stupid she was to think she could beat them. How she wished she could cut the Grin off of Voidra’s face. She felt herself angering more as she thought about it. The mare had kept herself up for many nights, mulling it over and being too angry to sleep. Other nights filled her with nightmares of the pain they inflicted on her. The torture they riddled her with. It still felt like the knife was carving into her eye socket.
Alvane’s legs began to shake. Either out of anger or anguish. She wasn’t sure. She felt like screaming. Letting her blessing unleash in a fury of rage. But she knew to do so would stupid and dangerous. Especially up here. The mare gave the packed snow a hefty stomp. A tear rolled delicately down her cheek and landed into a sea of white. Disappearing between the snowflakes. A deep breath escaped through her mouth, it’s warmth fleeing into the wind.
The group was almost caught up to her when she heard Marshal yell out. The mares head raised in surprise at Marshals call. “Snow..? Where?” Well, it was everywhere. But she knew that wasn’t what the old man meant. Alvane reluctantly fell back. Lopping a few strides back to the group as they began to stir.

Icabod | Stone CircleIcabod had lagged behind everyone else even more as they made their way along the path. He felt entirely out of his element. This wasn't what he was expecting for his role as a member of the Stone Circle. Surely some excitement was to be expected, but this wasn't what he thought it would be. There was too much talk of sabotage by golems and the like. He couldn't quite understand why someone would unleash such a beast on the faction lands. At least, he didn't understand why they would do so maliciously.
Soon enough, his attention snapped back to the group. There was a lot of arguing from two of the valkyries. Icabod sighed. Now certainly wasn't the time to be fighting. They were entirely uncertain of everything, so they should be more focused on figuring out what was actually going on instead. He considered speaking up, but Hawke seemed to have it covered.
After a few moments of walking a rush of the worst possible feelings passed through his body. Icabod stiffened completely, his owl flew into the air as soon as he noticed the change in the stallion's posture. That feeling was a very bad sign, a very bad sign that Marshal seem to feel at exactly the same moment. Icabod launched himself forward, joining the group again. If an avalanche was coming then he didn't want to be standing alone. "I'd suggest throwing up those plants, bud. Doesn't look like we've got any better options," Icabod spoke quickly to his fellow Stone Circle member, whose name he couldn't quite place. "My tremor sense obviously isn't gonna help us out anymore and I doubt astral projection would do any of us any good." He sighed, realizing just how impractical his second blessing was. But, who was he to ask more from a god? Instead he dug his hooves deep into the ground, hoping to keep himself solidly planted.

He didn't get a response as others followed his lead, letting Marshal know of their various talents. The stallion took a moment to collect his thoughts, taking note of what the others were suggesting. Yes, each of these things would come in handy if the first line of defense didn't work...
And it seemed that Edmond was the only one who was capable of really readying any kind of real first line. He was sure there were others in the group that were capable, but in this moment, he knew that if he didn't act fast enough, they could all be in danger.
"I'd suggest throwing up those plants, bud. Doesn't look like we've got any better options,"
Edmond couldn't remember the Stone Circle member's name that suggested it, but he nodded in response. Quickly, he reached out into the earth with his blessing, feeling the power of Kaia's flora hiding beneath and began to focus on bringing each of them upwards into a wall encircling the group. It was hard work, and although the plants grew quickly, the stallion couldn't help but worry about if they would be enough. Grass and a few sparse trees, along with other various seeds sprouted, entwining together as Edmond directed.
"Here's hoping this works..." He said with gritted teeth, sweat appearing on his features as he continued his work.
He was beginning to understand exactly why Irileth had looked so exhausted when she had gotten them out of that hole a few months ago. This was exhausting work.

TL;DR plant wall barrier is being built. In case it is important, it does not need to be fully in place when things start happening if it interferes with plot. <33
Edmond is going to be pretty exhausted after this

The silver dappled mare nodded as Adair explained his Golem rather snappily, the mare brushing his tone off, “Yet you found his stone. So he must have seen something in you worth his time and bond. Don't doubt his loyalty just yet.” she said with a reassuring smile, “No need to be so defensive, sugar. I was only asking for the sake of knowing. We are both on the same side here.” she told him gently, adding a wink.
She continued to walk beside the Shield quietly, casting a glance to Alvane. She let out a deep sigh and tilted her ears back. She should probably go and apologize. Delta wasn't so proud to refuse wrongdoing on her part. She supposed her words might have been a little harsh and the tone uncalled for. She knew she was at fault with the mare.
Set on correcting the mistake, Delta trotted forward, nearly catching up with her, but skidded to a halt when Jeremy crawled up her neck and onto the front of her helmet, blocking her view of what was in front of her.
“Mum, Mum! There are rumbles!! The snow sounds super mad!” called the small bat. His words confused her. She couldn't hear anything. What was he talking about? She was about to ask the bat to clarify when Marshal's voice rang out over the group, “Every one fall in! We're getting Snow!”
Delta's stomach dropped. Avalanche
She just barely heard Adair's words to her over Edmond's plan to stop the rushing snow with Plant Manipulation. She turned on her heel and rushed back to the others, as instructed, Jeremy having gone back to hiding under the fabric of her armor.
She saw Edmond seemingly struggle to convince Kaia's plants to grow quickly. If he didn't make those plants and trees grow fast enough the snow would wipe them all out and add additional rubble to the mix. Not that she didn't have faith in the Stallion's Blessing, it's that it looked like it was already taking most of his energy to even use it. She hesitated for only a second, worried about the possible judgment she'd receive once the others knew about her Blessing. Snorting and gritting her teeth, she jumped forward to stand next to Edmond, “Got you covered.”
Delta focused on her blessing, willing it outwards. Immediately the air around the group rippled like a heat wave as a clear dome of dim light surrounded them on all sides, but stayed behind Edmond's plants. The sounds of the wind outside became dull and muffled as the Force Field solidified. She cast Edmond a determined smile, “Just for added insurance. It puts less pressure on you when you have some help. That looks tiring.” She said with sympathy, appreciating the stallion's blessing as sweat ran down her neck as well.
Casting a glance to the roof of the shield a thought struck her, “Hey Edmond, think you can make that stuff grow over the top?”

ooc - Delta has thrown up a Force Field. She can hold it for up to 3 to 4 hours. Blessings like Sixth Sense and Tremor Sense can no longer "see" Delta.

Adair War-Forged Shield 462 words | Post III
" Thank the gods we are." Adair shot back in a murmur, but his mouth had curved upwards. A little crazy she may be, but perhaps not all bad. He had pondered about it as they fell into comfortable silence. Perhaps he was letting his judgement of the Valkyries get in his way, since deep down he secretly blamed them, and even Hira to a degree, for taking Alyshia and Addeva from him. In hindsight, Adair really wished his issues had been the only trouble of the day. As it was, he remained frustrated and worried, unable to help Edmond with the barrier and feeling rather useless. The Shield instead focused on calming his familiar, stroking his dormant form gently with teke. Truthfully, he had no idea if the lindworm could feel his touch, but he did it anyway, eyes following the growth of the plants. They might not make it in time, and Ed was clearly getting tired. With Delta in his line of sight, Lad had a clear view of the mare's hesitation, and briefly wondered why was it so. Then she positioned herself next to his father and Adair felt the familiar warmth of fire around him. He let out a gasp as a shield solidified between them and the plant barrier, and stared at Delta in shock. " You- you have a blessing from Ignacio..." He muttered, close enough for her to overhear. He hadn't met many horses with gifts from the Lord of fire, but seeing Delta use her blessing -almost- effortlessly made his heart squeeze in his chest. The way she used her blessing was perfect, and it made him think back to his own Heat Vision. Adair had rarely ever used it, somewhat ashamed of it for some instinctual reason. He never understood how his birth parents, who followed mostly Kaia with only a hint of Cascade via his father, had a foal born blessed by the Ignacio. But perhaps... Perhaps he could work on his powers better at some point. Both Edmond and Delta were getting more and more tired, and Adair instinctively moved to stand between them. He supported Edmond with his shoulder, knowing that with Delta's suggestion his father ought to get even more exhausted, and looked at the Valkryie. He didn't dare force her to lean on him, but he did make a movement with his chin to indicate she was welcome to do the same if her blessing begun to overwhelm her. " Only if you want to." He added, just to make sure. Perhaps not the most War Forged-stallion phrase he ever used, but Adair was nothing if not honest. " Marshal, how close is it?" He called, eyes scanning the horizon warily. The rumble was getting louder, even he could sense it.

Bellium | Onean Raider
Bellium fell in with the group in an uncharacteristically quiet manner, his brand of sociability was best suited when there were others he could feed off of, also showing loud and raucous behavior. Here, however, it seemed there was no one that particularly acted as he did, thus he fell quiet, as no one particularly acknowledged him yet. He was not about to fall out of line with several higher-ranking individuals within this procession.
The young unicorn’s ears pricked as he listened to the Stone Circle member, he did wonder if they could be facing a golem and he wondered what that could entail on his part. He had no personal experience with the beasts, though he knew anything of such a tremendous size and power could almost certainly not bode well for the party, though he was sure the powerful group could take whatever came their way.
At the shout of Marshal, he stared ahead trying to figure out was coming. He watched as the members of the party frenzied, while he stood with no blessing or particular power beyond his own physical capabilities. This could not be good.

Delta let out a breath she had been holding, trying to force herself to calm down. She was still afraid of the judgment she could receive. She was by no means ashamed of the Blessing, but that didn't stop her self-consciousness from tearing her up.
After a moment of hearing nothing from those behind her, she was almost revealed that they hadn't said anything... That is until Adair voiced his thoughts.
“You- You have a Blessing from Ignacio...”
Her ear flicked back at the stallion's voice. Taking a deep breath, the mare cleared her throat, not even casting him a glance due to her fear reigniting. She thought to herself for a moment, thinking back to the first time she had spoken to the Kirin God. She let out a breathy laugh, “Brazen for a Child of the Sea to request MY favor, here in the heart of my Sister's Lands.” she said with an amused smile, quoting the God directly. Looking over her shoulder at the stallion, Delta gave him a smile, “I guess I amused him. I had made him laugh,” She said with a light chuckle, “Seems that Fire and Water are more similar than most care to think.”
As Adair came to stand by Edmond and herself, she politely declined his offer with a shake of her head, “Not unless you want to hold me up for the next 3 to 4 hours, given that we are even here that long.” she told him, giving him another wink, “The Shield's not that tough to keep up. It will get harder though the longer I keep it up without a break.” laughing a bit the mare added,
“It makes my body temperature go up though, so now I don't have to worry about being cold anymore. Downside is now I have to worry about dehydration and pneumonia.” her tone was light and playful as the sweat soaked through the fur on her neck, running down her chest beneath the breastplate.
Looking past Adair, Delta caught Edmond's eyes for a second, “And you don't have to worry about the plants going over the top, I was only wondering if that was possible.”
Her eyes cast up to the top of the dome, watching as the snow collected on top of it. Her thoughts flickered back to her attempted apology to Alvane earlier. Sighing, she cleared her throat and looked behind her, locating the dark mare, “Hey, Alvane. I'm... sorry for the way I acted towards you earlier. The tone and words were uncalled for and my behavior was out of line.” she told the other Valkyrie, tilting her ears back.
Well, at least she had finally done that and now felt better for apologizing. Delta's eye flickered over to the Raider, Bellium, taking note in his silence, “Hey, Bellium, is it? You alright sugar? You've been quiet.” she asked, slightly concerned, as she kept an ear open for Marshal's reply to Adair's question.

Hawke Stone Circle | War-Forged
"Forget stardust -- you are iron. Your blood is nothing but ferrous liquid. When you bleed, you reek of rust. " There was certainly a lot going on inside their mind -- steeling themselves for the worst, preparing to have to go through the not so hopeful spiel of 'you'll be okay; sit still and let me work, would you?'
By Argus, they groan, it would be great if they could catch a break for once in their god forsaken life. And speaking of breaks -- Hawke's eyes cut towards the finned Valkyrie; what sounds like a low grumble vibrating from deep within their chest.
They couldn't see her.
Okay, that was a lie. They could see her, but they couldn't see her -- a small kink in Hawke's plan, the small hope they had that they would be able to find any lost to the snow... If things came down to it.
They shouldn't be so concerned with it; especially with impending doom rolling their way, but they can't help it. A fire blessing. They don't vocalize their opinion anymore than a brief thought of bitterness.
Though... Under the eyes of the War-Forged, they knew their blessing was not considered much better... The god that had chosen to praise was not exactly favored among the Forged... What did it say to be blessed by a god that had been deemed not worthy by those in their culture?
Hawke doesn't realize it, but they let out a laugh.
A wiry grin pulls up the corners of their lips. No matter the blessing, it was still a useful one... And it would ultimately not rest on Hawke's shoulders if they lost sight of her -- though, hopefully things would not come down to that.
The former Medic wishes they had brought more with them. (Hindsight was always 20/20.) They had the basic knowledge -- things that they could do without more crucial supplies -- that they could make due with having very little on hand.
The pit in their stomach only sinks a little bit more; the only thing their sword would be good for was...
The scars littering their lower leg screech out at the thought. No. There was no reason to be thinking like that; not right now.
Clearing their throat, Hawke speaks clearly, "Any of you get hurt, somehow or another, you tell me immediately, got it?" It wasn't a simple suggestion -- more like a threat that they might do something much worst than the impending nature if anyone kept their possible injuries a secret.
A mother's worry never rests, does it?

The stallion gave a wary glance to the Mare beside him as she suggested that they cover the top. Yes, of course, snow from above was just as dangerous as snow head on. He didn't say anything, and realized a little late that his lack of words may have come off as him being too exhausted or too annoyed to do so.
However, just as Delta mentioned that Edmond didn't have to close up the top, he reached into the last of his reserves and managed to weave the last bits of plants into a dome around them. Quietly, he leaned on Adair, feeling grateful that his son had had the foresight to walk up beside him and give him a place to rest.
He had never used his blessing to this extent before, but he was definitely proud of his work and capabilities. Quietly he looked around to the others, nodding to Hawke as they mentioned that they could take care of anybody if anything happened. Hopefully, it wouldn't come to that.
With baited (and tired) breath, the stallion waited, his eyes and ears alert. He wouldn't be able to see the impact at this point, but he knew that they'd be able to hear and feel it. He could tell it was getting closer, the rumble slowly rising up in his hooves.
"Brace for impact." He said simply, only raising his voice slightly. "It's coming."

Marshal | Stone Circle
Marshal had started back toward the group, walking backward through his own tracks. He could feel it. He was sure the others could too, but spotting an avalanche against a blanket of white snow was tough. Counting heads as the horses moved tighter together, the old stallion paid only half attention to the words being spoken. Gods, had he gotten slow minded in his age too? He just nodded to Edmond and watched plants sprout from beneath the snow. At the same time the air began to ripple with energy as Delta produced a Force Field dome which caught him off guard, of course this was no time for questions. Marshal felt useless. Still rusty with his blessing and in no shape to support anyone, he really felt like an old man. The force field dome wrapped over the group and plants spread up on the outer edge. He braced with everyone as the rumbling grew closer, clumps of snow rolling past the blessing shield as small warnings that the wall was about to hit.
"brace for impact, it's coming"
Marshal felt his body tense at Edmond's statement, some part of his brain preparing for the worst. Wait, he'd seen something before the tremors. Something had disturbed the snow ahead and perhaps it was still there watching them. As the roar of snow crashing against the barriers took over the silence, Marshal stopped listening with his ears and went searching with his senses. The crashing snow made a mess of vibrations and things lit up so wildly that he could hardly make out the shapes of the horses with him. He reached out further past the barrier. Marshal's head began to pound as he pushed his blessing further. Something was ahead, grounded in the earth.

Alvane still didn’t quite understand what was happening. Closing herself into the group again. Before she knew it both a forcefield and a layer of plant life covered the group. Eventually gathering what Marshal was talking about. The blue haired mare wasn’t much use though. She was more for attacking than defending. But she preferred it that way. It took her a minute to collect herself in before Delta spoke to her again. The dark-coated mare raised her eyebrow. Stoic expression covering her face. A heavy sigh escaped from her nose. Shaking her head. “I accept your apology. But I can’t apologize for my words. I stand by what I said.” Alvane bit her lip. “But we are a team and we have stick together. And I will fight beside you if we need to.”
Marshals words took her attention. The mare stood with her armor-clad shoulder out. Bracing it towards the direction of the snow. Before she knew it, snow began flowing passed the group. The ground shook violently beneath her hooves causing her to dig her studded shoes into the ground deeper. The sound was deafening, causing her to pin her ears back all the while trying to stay balanced.

Adair War-Forged Shield Post IV || 571 words
" Brace for impact, it's coming." Marshal's grunt was the last thing Adair heard before saw the white wave of snow crashing down on them. For a second, even if he knew they would likely be safe with Delta's and Edmond's blessings, terror engulfed him. It was like this that Addy had lost her parents, and Uncle Muiris had drilled in his head about the danger of the mountains. He briefly worried about how the girls and Ales would take knowing their father and brother had perished here as snow engulfed them. There was a long pause after it was over. Adair breathed heavily, heart rate slowing. Edmond was now leaning heavily on his shoulder, exhausted. He adjusted his hold on his father. " Are you okay?" He asked him quietly (but it somehow sounded loud in the silence), then looked over at Delta, making sure she was fine. A quick check around the group found most of them safe and sound, or so it seemed to him. Yet, this was enough to remind him to never let his guard down. No matter how strong a horse might think they are, Kaia was stronger. It took him a moment to realize Rune was still agitated. The lindworm didn't feel so close to breaking out anymore, but his pocket still vibrated a little. Adair let the teke that was holding Edmond go so he could check his pocket. His father slipped a little from his shoulder, and he held him again quickly. "Sorry-" he begun to apologize, but his words were lost on Edmond, who insisted he could handle himself. Adair looked at him, a little frustrated at his stubbornness, bur ah, it was his father after all. So he turned to the wall, staring at it curiously. Was Rune reacting to the blessings used around them? He had indeed reacted to Kaia's presence, maybe Edmond's feat with the plants had set him off? But... Something was strange with the way the stone was reacting... The Shield looked back at other horses in his group, noting Marshal's unease and discomfort. He had been able to sense the avalanche coming. Taking a deep breath, he tested the strength of the plants forming the barrier. They were surprisingly strong, and Adair felt a stab of guilt for leaving his tired father behind. Regardless, Adair pushed on, carefully climbing over the barrier. The snow was so soft before him, he worried about sinking into it. He tested a hoof over it, and let out a grunt as it sunk down. Pulling himself back up, tail swishing in embarrassment, Adair huffed and concentrated. His eyes glowed bright as embers for a second before a bright beam hit the snow before him. The beam wasn't enough to clear a path for him, so Adair stopped it, frustrated. Adair vowed to work on it. It was the first time it had felt useful on a mission such as this, and he shouldn't have neglected it. The unicorn glared at the snow around him in annoyance. It was then that he realized... Something felt off. He examined the pattern of the snow again- did the avalanche unearth something somehow? Was this why Rune was still tense? Or maybe it was just the blessing. Either way, they had clearly stumbled across something. " Hey guys?" He called, looking back at the group, eyes still a bit brighter than normal. " There's something in here!"
[Note: Edmond moved around a bit with permission from Dap!]

Hawke Stone Circle | War-Forged
"Forget stardust -- you are iron. Your blood is nothing but ferrous liquid. When you bleed, you reek of rust. " "Brace for impact!"
If there was one thing that their prosthetic was good for (other than giving them ability to move), it was keeping them locked tightly in place. Keeping their eyes trained on the ground beneath them, Hawke's sight, for a brief moment, is taken over with a brief sense of darkness; the snow finally making contact with the party.
Holding their breath, the long pause after it was over felt more threatening then the impending doom of it all.
"Is everyone okay?" They call, knowing that it was a dumb question -- no one was harmed, but asking made them feel better.
Eye cautiously dart over to Edmond, giving him a quick once over on the surface level before giving Delta the same treatment; not fully satisfied with moving forwards till they knew the pair was okay...
Well, as okay as they could be considering how much that probably consumed of them and their energy.
They wished they could do more for them. But with the limited resources they had on hand, Hawke wasn't sure what they could do for them -- other than give them both a knowing look and as gentle of a smile as they could muster...
It's Adair's loud exclamation that finally pulls them from their thoughts.
Popping their metal limb, Hawke shifts a few joints and screws that had slid and stuck together, finally moving forward by just a few feet to see what the Shield was so worked up over.

With a controlled sigh, the stallion let the plants fall around them, only a few trees still standing in place from the aftermath of the snow. Exhaustion flowed through the stallion, but he refused to let it show any more than it already did. Adair had already left his side, their brief exchange nearly forgotten as Edmond continued to stew over his tired bones.
Now was not the time to stop moving, though.
Quietly, he eyed the group, eyes meeting with Hawke's briefly as they searched the group. Quietly he grumbled that he was okay, though he wasn't sure his hooves would let him move forward more than a few steps. Slowly, he worked up the nerve to test his muscles, taking a short step forward and then another. The others were okay, and the group at large needed to keep moving forward. Passing by Marshal, Edmond thanked him for giving them the heads up before continuing on. He wasn't quite sure how his body was still properly functioning. Maybe it wasn't.
Adair's concerned voice wafted up over the winds, giving the stallion reason to continue moving forward, his eyes landing on the large object in question with concern. He kept back a few paces, still close enough to the group to get help if needed, but further than he probably should have been.
He frowned. Was this an oversized Lindworm stone? Or something else entirely? He couldn't tell from where he stood, nor was he entirely confident he wanted to investigate in the condition he was in. However, his curiosity was sparked. He hadn't realized that Hawke had pretty much kept pace with him in his stupor.
"What in Kaia's name is this?"
