N i L Ω Vagabonds | Vindicator Soldier Ω
"When you doubt your power, you give power to your doubt." ~Honore de Balzac Ω His first mission since tasting freedom. He had grown stronger, healthier, and with Adari’s help, he was able to actually lift a hoof against others. Her training had done wonders, and he deeply wished the bay mare had been on this mission with him. He was glad, however, that Rex was to stay behind. Poor boy was in no shape to do much of anything still.
And yet, walking with them was a child who was even younger than Rex. A young pegasus by the name of Verun. The fact such a small child was to come on the journey unnerved the stallion, but it wasn’t his place to question it. It just made his job easier...he fought harder when a child was around. He snorted, smirking slightly as he thought of Adari. She would be amused to hear about that upon his return.
His mind went back to the task at hoof. Something had happened, and they had to find out what. He almost hoped it would be Aodhian interference. Rescue some slaves, beat back the Aodhians. But at the same time, he hoped the caravans were simply running behind schedule due to weather or needing to repair equipment. Alya likely wouldn’t like hearing his thoughts about getting continuous revenge on his previous herd. He really hoped it had nothing to do with Cultists.
His eyes traveled over the group, particularly Eshana who he still had incredible thanks for for being a huge part in his liberation from Aodh. To be able to work beside her is such a blessing… He just hoped that he could live up to the expectations of those around him, but especially Adari…
Keeping his eyes sharp, he looked to the trees around them. Never can be too careful as a Vagabond… His ears pinned against his head in their usual position, Nil kept watch from behind.

Jimmu "...Need something kid?"
Post 1 | WC:199 Jimmu sighed as he plodded along with the others. New recruits and young cadets... Hopefully, they didn't run into any trouble. A certain filly with them, after all, was rather prone to acting before thinking. But... Jimmu couldn't say he wasn't glad that she could hold her own. The more useful hooves in the bunker, the better. Especially with how full it was becoming. If he were to be honest, Jimmu was worried about the state of things in the bunker. With supplies starting to run thin, there were also tempers running thin. But this wasn't really something for him to worry about. He was a soldier, meant to listen to Dinah's orders. And currently, those were to gather supplies and get back safely.
He shook his head to chase away his other thoughts. For now... "Verun, back in line. You're part of the mission, and we can't afford you bouncing off and revealing our presence n your excitement, kid." he let out a sigh. She had all rights to be excited, he would admit. Because that mildly troublesome filly was finally officially assigned to a mission... If only to prevent her from sneaking out on a dangerous one.

Verun|Vindicator|Cadet
Verun happily trotted along with the rest of the group, her head raised high, her wings held higher and splayed out ever so slightly, and her teke holding her newest weapon close to her in a defensive manner. Reuben had been teaching her how to use her firearm since they both had gotten one around the same time, not that the specialist was too excited to see that she had followed the rumors and gotten one on her own accords, but now, on her first "not sneaking out" mission, she was ready to use it, and all the other skills she had been taught. The cadet didn't really understand why their was such an increase in people in the bunker, only that their was and now they needed more things for V to cook with, and the things they used to get those things weren't happening as much anymore, so they needed to find out why.
"A super important mission for the most important horses in the bunker! We're gonna find what those mean ol' Aodhans are up to and then murder the-"
Verun, back in line. You're part of the mission, and we can't afford you bouncing off and revealing our presence n your excitement, kid.
Verun paused, both in her inner monologue and in her step, glancing back at Jimmu. Verun huffed and padded back to the rest of the group. "It's not my fault that everyone is slow..." She muttered under her breath, her teke still on her firearm, ready to protect the group if anything came out from the shadows.

Eshana vagabond | vindicator "Strong but exhausted." Post: #1 | Word Count: 315
If not for their orders burning in her mind, Eshana could almost imagine this jaunt was nothing more than a training exercise, a way to escape the increasingly suffocating confinement of the Bunker. Even Eshana, a born and raised Briemian, could not deny that the increasing numbers in their underground abode had given their a home a rather... claustrophobic nature. Though the mare would not claim that she disliked the way their allies had grown in the past few months, the additions had certainly created a noticeable shift in the atmosphere of the Bunker.
It was nice, for once, to be above ground and able to enjoy the fresh, crisp air that entailed. And it was strange to feel nearly relaxed on a mission.
Nearly being the key word. It seemed near impossible to allow her muscles to fully unravel, or her ears to refrain from twitching at every unusual sound. Their scouting mission was expected to be a straightforward one, if the group’s mixture of green recruits and cadets was an indicator; but it never hurt to expect and prepare for the worst, and Eshana had to admit it put her mind at ease to know that her own daughter was tucked away in the safety of the bunker.
Not that they were without seasoned warriors. Several vindicators with seniority that dwarfed her own paltry year were among them, and she’d had the pleasure of working alongside both Nil and Bruneau in the past. Her heart still occasionally soared at the thought of them alongside the vindicators now; those that she had once worked alongside as slaves, and now fought beside in liberation.
Her ear flickered back to catch Jimmu’s words, and the corner of her mouth turned upwards at Verun’s rebuke.
“We’ll be there soon, I promise,” Eshana added, turning her head to reassure the young mare. “We should be very close now.”

For the first time, Bruneau felt a part of something bigger. He'd been part of the Vindicators for a time now. But now, despite the simplicity of the mission, it felt real. And truthfully, it was millions times better than hard labor in the stinking city of Valore.
The stout stallion trod carefully just behind Eshana, sticking close to the pretty dappled mare who'd been a familiar face from the times in the shackles of Aodh. He was worried when she'd gone, hoping to Ignacio she was alive, and upon the night that the Vindicators stormed the Dark District, his heart had sighed a heavy one of relief that his friend was alive and well, and fighting for something that meant something. The entire effort of the night inspired him greatly, and despite being a rather gentle horse, or unicorn, despite his disgrace of a horn, he put that aside, and he would over and over again.
He nodded softly at Eshana's words indicating they were not far from the border, and the stallion was quiet for a few moments, blinking and thinking for a moment, pondering the slowing of the caravans as his cloven gemstone hooves trod carefully along.
"What do you think is holding it up?" he asked Eshana tentatively, glancing her way. A dumb question, he noted, but he decided to think aloud instead.

Reuben Vindicator | Explosions Specialist
The hippocampus strode lightly in the back of the group, keeping all his senses on high alert despite his rather blank exterior. It had been an interesting few months to say in the least after the excitement in Valore. All the new faces, freed slaves...and somehow including a dragon. He had taken an interest to her ever since he broke her chains, though with supplies running dangerously thin, a twinge of worry echoed in him. Rations have grown smaller and smaller as of late.
Reuben was glad to be on this mission as he will make sure that they come to the bottom of this supply shortage. His teke brushed against his newly acquired weapon, almost excited for the opportunity to test out his new "toy". He had been getting used to its power as he practiced in the forests surrounding the bunker, shooting at pine cones he balanced on tree stumps and the occasional bird or two. Learning how to properly reload and clean, take it apart and put it back together...it was the most fun he had learning something completely new in a long time to say in the least.
He glanced as Verun frolicked about, eyeing her own firearm that she also somehow acquired. Reuben still couldn't believe the kid got her hooves on one. Despite his disbelief and his initial protests of having such a young filly own such a powerful weapon, he decided to teach her and follow along as he discovered the keys to properly using it. The mule definitely did not want her shooting an eye out...or anyone else's eye out...so better she knew how to use it other than her trying to figure it out on her own.
Still, he was impressed with how much she has learned in a short amount of time.
Long ears perked at Eshana's mention that they were almost there. Finally. He made note of what supplies he had in his saddle bags for the umpteenth time to make sure he was prepared for anything.

"When you doubt your power, you give power to your doubt." ~Honore de Balzac Ω Hoofsteps continued in front and behind him, a musical beat of their own making. Some hooves fell heavier than others, but there was something that he noticed about them; they had life to them. No one was slogging about because they were forced. No, they were all free. Either freed before him or alongside him, it was nothing short of glorious. It made his heart swell with pride. It even made him quirk a smile.
A voice caught his attention, and he turned slightly to see Jimmu ordering the smallest and youngest of their group to get back in line. He suppressed an amused snort, and although very concerned about her weapon...well, at least she seemed smart enough to know how to use it without hurting anyone. He glanced to the small filly, allowing himself another smile at her muttering. And it was Eshana who responded with a small smile of her own.
It was heartwarming…
And it was even more heartwarming to know they were almost there. His eyes turned to Bruneau, a unicorn he recalled being liberated alongside himself and Rex just months before. He flicked his ears at the stallions question, and he thought about his own imagination. The many scenarios, some better than the last. His ears flicked back against his head in apprehension. Then he shook his head. No. He couldn’t think like that anymore. Positivity!
“Personally, I was thinking it was likely a broken wheel...or something...” He found himself stating...and trailing off because why did he just speak up…

Savin' Vagabond | Vindicator | Cadet Savin' followed near the back of the group. Little by little, the dryness and heat had dropped it's weight over her through out the day. She liked to assume that it didn't wave off the same effect on the others. The even beat of their hoofsteps in the dark around her. It all compelled her to force herself to hide it, to focus, and to continue forward a little bit faster. The spotted pale mare had gone most of this mission so far without anything significant to say. She briefly lifted her head and smiled in the direction of the younger cadet's exuberant noises. It spilled a giggle from her- which she quickly shut down. A part of her, tucked deep inside, shared almost the same excitement. Savin' didn't pop out of bunker often unless she was told to. This was one time that she could not miss. She barely had time to rush out, with both mane and tail messily tied up with her own locks, away from bothering her or the others. After all, this was her first real mission as a cadet, too. She had to do this. The hot day would have nothing to say about it. In fact, it must have gotten a little better when Eshana spoke. Savin' gave a soft sigh. She moved a little faster, her head raised and her ears raised higher. They were almost there.

SIRIN | VAGABOND | SOLDIER
Oh, this careless ground, guessing this is home now, in no man's land, at least we're still standing.
She had been grinding her teeth for hours now, as though there were still an iron bit placed between her teeth.
Forced to escort numerous new recruits and children alike, the apprehension was beginning to eat Sirin alive. At first, being given a mission far from the innards of the Bunker had seemed like a godsend, to be free of the cramped interior and its inhabitants...
and it was, until she realised who had also been assigned.
The firearms cradled between Reuben and Verun made her incredibly uncomfortable, knowing that with one missed shot, it would be loud enough to send an entire forest into a frenzy - losing any element of surprise they might have. She could not deny that the weapons were powerful, dangerous even, but stealth was what had [ultimately] kept the faction alive for years.
Still, like a good soldier, she kept her mouth shut, flanking the outside of the group to keep watch, milky pupils scanning the brush around them and only half-heartedly listening to the group as they conversed amongst themselves.

"When you doubt your power, you give power to your doubt." ~Honore de Balzac Ω Nil groaned inwardly.
The awkwardness of his comment lingered, as no one spoke up to neither agree or disagree. Instead, he looked off towards the sides of their path, past bushes and into trees. He almost wished something would happen. Nothing bad of course, but something to spur conversation. It almost felt like lights out back at Valor. No...he couldn’t compare this to Aodh. Being a Vindicator alongside Eshana was nothing but a dream to him. While his end goal was to get to Serora, helping those who liberated him was the most important thing right now.
Though, being quiet allowed for them to hear for potential ambushes or other horrible things. It unnerved him to know that Aodhian slavers lingered in the woods for unsuspecting Vagabonds to capture and drag to the hell hole that was Aodh. He shuddered, and turned to look towards the numerous horses in the caravan. If anything terrible were to happen, every single horse would turn into Rex, and he would die to protect all of them.
“Just...remember to keep your eyes peeled.” He found himself saying, and although it was out loud, it was meant mostly for himself.

Eshana vagabond | vindicator "Strong but exhausted." Post: #2 | Word Count: 271
Eshana's ears angled back to catch her companion's words, then turned to him with a light sigh escaping her lips. Admittedly it was a question she had been mulling on for a while, to no avail. One would assume that with the war progressing, supplies would be in short supply for their troops; the sudden lack of caravans was curious, at the very least.
"I'll be honest, I'm not sure," Eshana admitted, lowering her voice in hopes the words would be lost to the youngest in their company. She glanced at Nil as he voiced his own opinions on the matter.
"Your guess is as good as mine," she replied, turning back to the path stretching before them. "I can only assume it has something to do with the war."
Eshana allowed herself to lapse into silence after the chatter, focusing on the path ahead. Although it was meant to be a straightforward scouting mission, she admittedly wasn't entirely sure what awaited them; and the unknown couldn't help but stir a feeling of unease in her gut. A nod back to her days growing up in Nariah, perhaps, where things that were not known were to be feared.
Their view slowly opened up as they progressed, and before long a sight that ground the mare to a halt appeared.
"We're here," she breathed, ears pricked as she took in the station laid out before them. Two mechanical beasts waited dormant, the entire area possessing an eerie air to it, apparently abandoned.
"Stay alert," Eshana announced to her companions, though the words were accompanied with a tone akin to a spooked whisper.

The station is silent. You watch it for a while from cover but see nothing. Just watching the two metal beasts hardly answers any of your questions, so after some consideration, you slowly begin your approach. Splintering into smaller teams, one experienced Vindicator watching over one or two cadets or recruits, you begin to canvas the trainyard. No one really pays extra attention to three such newbies: Julius, one of your fresh ex-slave recruits, or Poul and Filip, two kids taken in by the Vindicators some months ago. They are all familiar faces in the Bunker, and this is a first mission for all of them. The trainyard seems safe. Silent. You’re already between the near-empty storage buildings. Seems there is nothing here to salvage. Wait. Is there someone in the train? Suddenly, Poul screams. Out from the cover of invisibility necklaces spring several raiders. The Vindicator mentoring Poul and Filip lies lifeless on the ground, and the raiders quickly haul the two cadets between the cover of the trains, and board one of them. The bitterness of your own strategies being used against you doesn’t have time to set in before a troop of Chevaliers pours out from the other train, abandoning their hiding places armed and ready for combat. A war horn blows, summoning what you can only assume are reinforcements in the near vicinity to the scene. Julius panics, and runs straight into the open arms of the Chevaliers. Only they do not kill him – they step aside to allow him to board the other train, and then block your way inside it. The sounds of workers getting the two great steam engines moving fill the air. The chevaliers and raiders take up defensive positions along the platforms. Your forces are evenly matched with either train’s guard, but as the smell of burning coal fills the air, you realize you can only pursue one target – if you split up, you’ll be outnumbered and overpowered. What will it be? The Traitor or the Cadets?

"When you doubt your power, you give power to your doubt." ~Honore de Balzac Ω As they plodded on, Eshana spoke up. He nodded. The damn war… He shuddered to think about it. Sighing softly through his nose, he continued to walk on, occasionally glancing around the group for any signs of prying eyes in the tree line. He felt relieved every time that he didn’t get a pair of eyes looking back at him. But that didn’t stop the anxiety that something could still happen along their journey.
Eshana spoke up again with a breathy “We’re here”, and Nil stopped alongside her. While her ears perked, Nil’s stay against his head for a moment. He had never been this close to these strange metal creatures before. He had seen such things from a distance, but never this close. It was quiet, too quiet. And when Eshana told them to stay alert, Nil had to nearly pull his ears from his skull.
With ears perked, be looked about the trains, up and down their lengths as much as he could see. But nothing happened. No sudden activity. They just sat there like statues. Soon after, Nil split off from the group into his own group, just as others did the same. Ruby eyes look up at the trains, finding that he really doesn’t like the metal things. He feels like they could open up like some giant maw and swallow him whole. And he wasn’t wrong to feel that way.
A scream grabs his attention and, as he wheels about with ears erect, he notices shadows slip between the trains with two foals being dragged between them, a lifeless body lying upon the floor. As panic surges through him, he could see one of their own disappearing into one of the other trains, seemingly protected by the Chevaliers that began to exit the train. The horn blares in his ears, and he is scared stiff for a brief moment.
Yet, he remembers Adari and the training she gave him. If he didn’t act now, the captured foals would face a life he would never wish on anyone, not even the horrible Chevaliers facing them. He couldn’t let that happen.
“We have to save them...the kids!” He yells out loud, before he begins a charge where he saw the kids disappear.

The sudden turn of events blindsided the stallion, but Bruneau carefully scanned the scene as it unfolded before him. The cadets were top priority, that he was certain. A traitor was not worth bloodshed when the foals were at stake.
A part of him reflected for just a moment on his own culling, barely old enough to remember bits and pieces. He remembered the chains and being bounced around until he was in a half decent servile position, but then thrust to the city. The shackles suddenly felt cold around his pasterns, and the file grinding against his once beautiful horn vibrated against his skull and scratched in his eardrums.
These cadets would not fall victim to that. Not on his watch.
The chocolate stallion pinned his ears and charged forward without too much thought toward the platforms, eyes and gait settling onto a young Chevalier mare. Part of him swore he recognized her from the streets of Valore, living her own pompous life that symbolically spat at the hooves of the slaves that carried the city on their backs. Bruneau set his hind end under and launched into a rear, striking at Apollonia with his cloven gemstone hooves, all the rage of the years of slavery and the risk of losing the two foals channeled into his attack.
He could finally prove himself to his new family. And he could finally begin his chapter of the fight that granted his own freedom, and hopefully the freedom of other equines across Hireath.

Eshana vagabond | vindicator "Strong but exhausted." Post: #3 | Word Count: 292
The quietness should have been their first tip off, she supposed, a string of curses flying through her mind as she whirled to face their opponents. Nothing was ever easy when it came to the Vindicator's missions.
The irony that their own tactics were used so viciously against them was not lost on her, and at the back of her mind she quietly noted they would have to alert Dinah of these developments, but the majority of her focus was located elsewhere. Eshana's stomach dropped as she watched as the cadets were hauled away and Julius darted behind the Chevaliers, any icy chill spreading across her skin.
For a single moment, Eshana found herself freezing. They were vastly outnumbered and caught off guard, their party mainly comprising of the young and the new. These were not seasoned warriors their opponents had.
Nil was the first to charge and the movement shattered the momentary spell she had found herself under. Eshana followed on his heels, white hot rage bubbling through her chest. Leave it to the Chevaliers and Raiders to resort to using children as leverage in their battles. If their only choice was to leave the traitor in order to fight for their own, then so be it.
From the corner of her eye she watched as Bruneau attacked and was repelled by a gleaming red force field. With the anger bubbling through her veins, she whirled directions, aiming for the mare's unblocked side. The small scabbard at her side sung as her dagger was liberated from it's sheath, gleaming silver clutched in the pale blue of her teke.
With a kick of her hind quarters she launched herself at the Chevalier, teeth bared and muscles tensed in preparation for the impact.

SIRIN | VAGABOND | SOLDIER
Oh, this careless ground, guessing this is home now, in no man's land, at least we're still standing.
Despite the presence of young trainees and new recruits alike, the unicorn swears out loud. Cursing their flippant behaviour and her inability to sense what had lain ahead, waiting for them with open jaws.
They should have known, they were better than this.
She was better than this.
Sirin's first instinct is to run to the traitor, Julius, to take him down as she watches him board the train without incident - aware that his knowledge of the Bunker and it's inhabitants will no doubt put them all at risk; but to her dismay, she sees the others are already turning away to try and free the young cadets.
She curses again.
Outnumbered and alone in her decision, she instead wheels to face a young hippocampus, whose flashes of ruby-red forcefields have drawn Bruneau and Eshna to her side - repelling and pushing them away with frustrating ease.
As the other train squeals to life, she grits her teeth and tastes iron again.
Leaping forward, she lowers her head and charges, attempting to gore Apollonia's flank with her horn.

Savin' Vagabond | Vindicator | Cadet This mission seemed easy enough. They were seperated into groups and wandered around the silent station. The spotted pale mare stuck close to her group and tried so hard to be alert and sense anything awry. She thought she was doing a good job. Then a child's scream reached her. It was one of the cadets. Savin' immediately turned her body in the direction of the unfolding scene. "The kids!" her voice broke, "We have to save the kids!" It stabbed her not to mindlessly race towards the scream, but Savin' was standing helpless in the dark without a clear indicator of what they all would do next. That was until she heard Nil yell out loud. "We have to save them...the kids!” It turned out that she was not alone with that mindset. Soon after Nil's call, hooves and dust kicked up around her. It didn't take much to push Savin' in the right direction. With her neck low and her ears clinging to her skull, she frantically galloped along. She sped up close behind a certainly loud Sirin. Oh, boy, she had to do this. Two bodies collided before her. She hoped to follow behind Sirin with the same success. She intended to swiftly strike the nearest enemy with her own body, or at least sideswipe them hard enough.

WC 186 | Post 2
When the traitor bolted, Jimmu scowled. Stupid kid, what did he have to gain, from offering their information to them? Only time in chains. But he agreed with the others, as they started moving. The cadets that those chevaliers were more important than the idiot. Who knew what information had already been leaked to their foes? ...They needed to go to an area that could better support their now large operation anyways. That was his opinion, at least. Seeing the others move towards one of the chevaliers, and one of those charging towards his companions... No. He wasn't going to let that unicorn harm his companions. Jimmu charged at Haakon, hell-bent on blocking his path and engaging him, Jimmu's battle axe yanked from its sheath on his back. He was a Vindicator Soldier. It was his job to protect the others, especially the cadets that were with them. His mouth curled into a snarl, swinging his axe with his full force down towards the Unicorn. Bruneau snorted irritably as Apollonia blocked both his and Eshana's attacks, but he noticed that the force field sent up by the young chevalier wasn't going to last. The train screeching out of the station echoed in his ears. What would the traitor do? What information would Julius, the rat, give? He cursed the scum under his breath as he watched the train for a brief moment as it rolled to a start on the tracks.
His eyes rested on the second train that their adversaries blocked. The cadets still were more important, and so he snapped out of his moment's reverie to see Apollonia struck down by Savin and Sirin, the only thing saving the little hippocampus mare being Agnar's wall. Satisfied, Bruneau moved onto the next target, Haakon. The golden and dark unicorn was aggressive and Bruneau knew better than to underestimate him.
However this hellion of a unicorn was currently what stood between them and a young Vindicator's safety. Priidik was worth it, he decided.
Bruneau lowered his head and charged at the unicorn, as if he were going to ram him. However, his small flat horn would not be much a weapon, and he faked and turning harshly and lashing with a powerful kicks, the cloven ruby and teal gemstone hind hooves powering straight for the unicorn's shoulder.

Verun|Vindicator|Cadet Game Post #7 Verun jolts in a confused flurry as everything happens at once in the train station. Nothing like the other hits she had snuck out on before, everything around her broke down into a mess of sounds and chaos. One of the new Vindicators to the bunker literally ran straight into a train of soldiers, while another one took a pair of cadets hostage. Not that the split goals seemed to bother the older soldiers in the group, as they all swiftly leaped into action after the imprisoned cadets, already taking two of them out. Not one to be left in the dust, Verun leaped from the shadows she had been hiding in, waving her firearm high in the air as she barreled towards one of the larger horses with a large war hammer. She attempted to aim the firearm as Reuben had taught her, and fired the weapon, before rushing in to just bash the larger equine in the face with the weapon, her small wings flaring up behind her as she used them to get just enough height to accomplish the task. “FOR THE CADETS!” Disarms Agnar Speed 85 -> 60 Uses Gun Distracts Agnar Cunning 75 –>50 Word Count 190

Agnar, while somewhat alarmed by the strange weapon wielded by this very small Vindicator, doesn't let it stop him from long. As Verun lunges at him, some icy spears formed by his Ice Manipulation lunge back at Verun, and hit their target.
Verun receives a permanent injury (penalty) of -5 to Strength from Angar's ability.

Reuben
Vindicator | Explosions Specialist Game Post #8
Everything unfolded quickly as the two trains roared to life, most of the party beginning to run after the cadets. Reuben's teeth clenched tightly in his jaw as he watched the traitor escape, a shitty feeling in his stomach.
He wheeled his body around to follow behind the rest of his comrades, but halted when he passed Kaja, who seemed to be in a daze of sorts after all the commotion. "Kaja!" Reuben shouted trying to get her attention, but the mare was insanely out of it. He looked at the retreating train. Gods, he didn't have time for this. The hippocampus pulled out a vile of his own creation in what would be used as a stink bomb, though if Kaja wasn't listening to him he had to use other means. He held the vile up to her nose and within moments she began coughing and shaking her head as if to rid herself of the foul smelling liquid. "Lets go, come on! On your feet!" Reuben shouted as he began running towards the excitement, looking back to Kaja making sure she was following. He glanced at the opposite retreating train in the distance and cursed loudly before turning back, trying his best to pick up speed.
He drew his firearm, the barrel facing upwards as he caught up to the train just in time to see the fuckwad with the war hammer jab Verun with ice after she fired a bullet. Reuben scowled and lowered his weapon close to his face, his eye lined up with the barrel aimed directly at the stallion's leg. He took one long inhale to steady the firearm, and on his exhale, pulled the trigger. A loud crack echoed through him and the surrounding area as he absorbed the recoil from the powerful weapon.

Agnar screams in pain as the bullet pierces his leg, and immediately retaliates with a violent burst of ice, slashing back at his attacker even as his comrades quickly move him to safety.
Reuben receives a permanent injury (penalty) of -5 to Wisdom from Angar's ability.

N i L Ω Vagabonds | Vindicator Soldier Ω
"When you doubt your power, you give power to your doubt." ~Honore de Balzac Ω There was too much between him and the cadets.
Luckily, Bruneau, Eshana, Sirin, and Savin’ were able to take down the force field wielding Chevalier, and somehow, Verun and Reuben took down the ice-wielding Stallion. Reuben even managed to rescue one of their own too, who had become indisposed some way or another.
And during all this time with the fighting, which really was only a short few moments, the traitor escaped on the second train. Nil had stopped to watch, wondering what the departure would mean for the Vindicators, but he couldn’t sit and think about it right now. More important matters were at hand. While the Vindicators and the Chevaliers were fighting, he charges along the side of the train at a distance, looking for some way to stop it and give them more time. But he knew nothing about the machine, let alone how to stop it in its literal tracks.
As he ran, his eyes scanned the windows and whatever compartments could be seen. Nothing really seemed to make sense to him, until he got to the front of the train that is. As he looked out from the bushes, sharp ruby eyes inspected the front most compartment, he noted that there was someone inside. And it became clear to him that if they could get the horse controlling the metal beast, they would be able to save the cadets faster.
“Eshana!” He shouted from his place in the bushes, hoping not only to catch the groups leader but the rest of their group. “I found who is controlling this thing!”

SIRIN | VAGABOND | SOLDIER
Oh, this careless ground, guessing this is home now, in no man's land, at least we're still standing.
Blood drips from her spiraled horn as she withdraws it from the Chevalier's side; the ichor stark against the white of her coat once she wipes it against the side of her leg to prevent it from trickling into her eyes. With Savin' following close behind her and proceeding to knock their opponent out, Sirin goes to nod her thanks before having to pull up short, backing away from the body with one hoof raised as a wall of earth erupts in front of them; blocking the path directly ahead.
Breathing hard as adrenaline thrums throughout her veins at the sight, she whips her head back and forth to survey the battlefield with a slightly panicked air. Despite being ambushed, they had recovered well, but it was clear that numerous lives still hung precariously in the balance.
Nil's sudden call to Eshna --giving away Taddeo's position-- had agitated the party, and she watched as yet another figure threw themselves into the fray - their intent clear. Sirin's ears press flat to her neck as she guesses the unicorn's trajectory. With teeth bared, she rocks onto her hindquarters and pushes off once more, barreling into the mare to snap at her neck; grabbing at the heavy braid and yanking them both off balance.
"Not today." She hisses.
